WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?: Los 40 Principales: Karaoke Party is a singing game similar to all the more famous ones you may have heard of, such as Singstar and Disney Sing It. Los 40 Principales (translation: The Top 40) is a radio station brand in lots of Spanish speaking countries, and the name of the platinum, Del 40 Al 1 (translation: From 40 to 1) is the name of their chart show. As such, the game contains 40 songs and a variety of modes in which to sing them.

Walkthrough:

Throughout this trophy guide I’ll be referring to the ‘fan trick’. If you have platinumed a singing game in true trophy hunter style before, you will know what I am talking about, but if not, let me explain. Many singing games (this one included) will let you play on an easy difficulty setting and any constant noise will get you decent scores. If you prop your microphone next to a common household object such as a desk fan or a hairdryer, it will detect the sound as your singing, therefore playing the game for you. This makes playing the game genuinely effortless and leads to an easy, stress free experience.

During the writing of this guide, I was restricted as to the amount of noise I could make in my house for various reasons. I used a near-silent, very small USB fan plugged into, and therefore powered by, my PS3, and a microphone plugged into the other port. I placed both items on the floor and pointed the fan at the microphone, and this was enough for the PS3 to detect it as singing. This setup got me the platinum - I did not have to sing even once.

For the purposes of this guide I will assume you are using the fan trick as this is the easiest way to gain all trophies.

Because of the ‘party’ nature of this game, the following steps can be completed in any order, especially if you are using the fan trick. For completeness, I will list the order they should be attempted if you were to legitimately sing.

Step 1: Achieve a High-Score in every song

The legitimate first step towards platinum would be to learn to sing every song. The best way to do this would be to sing them all in Single Mode. Doing this would also get you a High-Score in each song, as you only need 3000 points to do so.

Upon completion of this step, you will have earned at least the following (but not limited to):

(G) The 40

(B) The First

Step 2: Achieve a High-Score of at least 9000

It’s highly likely you’ll have done this naturally during Step 1. If not, use this step to clean up the High-Score trophies.

After you have completed this step, you will have earned:

(B) The 6K club

(S) The 7K club

(G) The 8K club

(G) Numero Uno

Step 3: Career Mode

There are 7 trophies tied to the Career Mode, to achieve them all you’ll need 6 playthroughs. This may sound daunting but it’s easily doable in one sitting around 3.5 hours long. You will also get the trophy for viewing the credits naturally during this step.

After you have completed this step, you will have earned:

(B) The Fan

(G) Best song

(G) Best video

(G) Best album

(G) Best artist

(G) Best concert

(G) Best new artist

(G) The Ultimate

Step 4: Miscellaneous cleanup

There are 4 more trophies between you and platinum at this point, and they all involve you dipping your toe in 4 different modes. See individual descriptions for information.

After you have completed this step, you will have earned:

(B) The DJ

(B) The Fight

(B) The Mariachi

(B) The Ruletta

And finally, you will have earned:

(P) DEL 40 AL 1

Congratulations when you get this!

Trophy Guide:

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/01.jpg DEL 40 AL 1 (P)

You have unlocked all trophies in Los 40 Principales Karaoke Party.

The same as every other platinum trophy - achieve all the following trophies to unlock this one.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/36d.jpg The Fan (B)(H) :tagstory:

Viewed the Credits.

This trophy will unlock after the first run through of Career Mode, as the credits start rolling at the end of each playthrough.

Alternatively, you can get it before then by going to the Main Menu > Options > Credits.

Whichever way you do it, the trophy will unlock at the very beginning of the credits and you can quit with :circle: as soon as you desire.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/197.jpg The DJ (B)(H)

Viewed the DJ songs.

This trophy takes seconds to do. Simply go to Main Menu > DJ and then press :start: and then :circle: to quit. The trophy will unlock immediately.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/ec6.jpg The Fight (B) :tagequipment:

You played a Voice Battle.

This is the only trophy in the game that actually requires 2 microphones. The game refuses to load without the second microphone and kicks you back to the main menu before you get chance to play anything.

With that in mind, the first thing to do is plug your second microphone in. Now go to Main Menu > Party > Voice Battle. Choose whichever song you’d like to hear. The :l2: setting doesn’t matter, make sure that :square: (difficulty) is on Easy and for this trophy, song length doesn’t matter so change :triangle: (song length) to Short.

Aim the fan or sing into microphone 1 only - position microphone 2 elsewhere so it has no input. While this isn’t essential, it gives Player 1 an early victory, making the trophy go quicker.

Now simply press :cross: to begin the Battle. Player 1 will win and when they do, after pressing :cross: to acknowledge the victory, the trophy will unlock on the loading screen.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/b3b.jpg The 40 (G)

You achieved a High-Score in every song.

There are 40 songs in total, and you’ll need to achieve a High-Score in every one. To get a High-Score, you need at least 3000 points for that song. This is infinitely easier than it sounds, using the fan trick will get you this amount in each song with no effort needed.

You will know if you got a High-Score if you see a large “HIGH SCORE” graphic at the end of the song and you are asked to give your name.

To get the High-Scores, you’ll need to play each song individually by going to Main Menu > Single > Normal. Make sure the :square: (difficulty) option is set to Easy, and the :triangle: option is set to Full (using the short versions of songs will not count towards the trophy). The :l2: option is irrelevant, Vocal will have both music and vocal tracks while Instrumental removes the vocals. The All Lyrics/Split Lyrics choice is also unimportant, the former shows every line while the latter removes lines every so often.

Do not make a playlist and play each song this way! You will only get awarded points for your specific playlist and not the individual songs on it. Play each song one at a time as outlined above.

You can check which songs you have High-Scores on by going to the Main Menu > Charts and looking for your name (your completed songs will be bunched together as they are arranged in order of highest score). Also, provided you only play each song once, each completed song will have a small green box with a white arrow next to it, though this can be temperamental.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/19f.jpg The First (B)

You achieved your first High-Score.

See (G) The 40 for full information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/6ab.jpg The 6K club (B) :tagstackable:

You achieved a High-Score of at least 6000.

See (G) Numero Uno for full information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/086.jpg The 7K club (S) :tagstackable:

You achieved a High-Score of at least 7000.

See (G) Numero Uno for full information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/09.jpg The 8K club (G) :tagstackable:

You achieved a High-Score of at least 8000.

See (G) Numero Uno for full information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/cb2.jpg Numero Uno (G) :tagstackable:

You achieved a High-Score of at least 9000.

This should technically be the hardest trophy in the game, but it is made effortless with the fan trick. It’s highly likely that this trophy, and the preceding ones, will unlock during the course of playing each song in Single Mode for the 40 High-Scores.

In case there is a possibility that the fan doesn’t work for you, to actually try for this trophy, go to Main Menu > Single > Normal. Make sure the :square: (difficulty) option is set to Easy, and the :triangle: option is set to Full (using the short versions of songs will not count towards the trophy). The :l2: option is irrelevant, Vocal will have both music and vocal tracks while Instrumental removes the vocals. The All Lyrics/Split Lyrics choice is also unimportant unless you are doing it legitimately, the former shows every line while the latter removes lines every so often. Use All Lyrics if you actually need them. Pick a song that you are most comfortable with, or that the fan came close to getting 9000 points on, and pull out your best singing performance.

The individual “achieved X score” trophies will only unlock once you get past the name entry/High-Score screen and the game displays your score.

For reference, the fan trick got me three scores over 9000 and these were the tracks where it happened:

  • Lilly Wood & The Prick /R. Schulz - Prayer in C (9740 points)
  • Antonio Orozco - Temblando (9093 points)
  • James Blunt - Bonfire Heart (9025 points)

There were 6 other songs that achieved 8500+ too. The above is not a definitive list and will possibly vary depending on your fan trick setup.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/bea.jpg The Mariachi (B)

You sang a song in Karaoke Mode.

Karaoke Mode is intended to be a mode where you can just sing for fun. There is no countdown clock or score, just you and the lyrics on screen.

To earn this trophy, go to Main Menu > Karaoke. The :triangle: (song length) setting can actually be on Short if you’d like, and you’ll still get the trophy, so do this to save time. For the :l2: setting, you can either choose Instrumental (music only) or Vocal (full song with vocals), it doesn’t matter. Simply pick a song you’d like to hear and let it play for the duration. Quitting the song early will not get you the trophy.

You don’t even need to have some sort of input into the microphone, whether it's the fan or your actual voice. I was able to get the trophy on an alternate account in total silence.

The trophy will unlock during the loading screen while you are returning to the main menu.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/ae5.jpg Best song (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won the Song Award.

This will unlock after your sixth playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/fc7.jpg Best video (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won the Video Award.

This will unlock after your fifth playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/393.jpg Best album (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won the Album Award.

This will unlock after your fourth playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/4bb.jpg Best artist (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won the Artist Award.

This will unlock after your third playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/140.jpg Best concert (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won the Concert Award.

This will unlock after your second playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/c23.jpg Best new artist (G)(H) :tagstory:

You have won the New Artist Award.

This will unlock after your first playthrough in Career Mode.

See (G) The Ultimate for more information.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/c61.jpg The Ruletta (B)(H)

You played the Wheel of Songs mode.

This trophy takes a few seconds to do. Even though it is a party mode, you’ll only need the one microphone plugged in, because the trophy unlocks before the round even starts, even if the random mode requires 2 microphones.

Go to Main Menu > Party > Wheel of Songs. Pressing :cross: will randomly select a song and mode, and pressing :cross: again will start the selection. While whichever scenario is loading up, the trophy will unlock. Feel free to quit immediately after this.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/3215/737.jpg The Ultimate (G) :tagsubsequent:

You have won all Awards.

There are 6 Awards that are given to you at the end of each Career Mode playthrough. Therefore, this trophy will require that you play through the Career Mode a total of 6 times. Wasting as little time as possible, each playthrough will last just over 30 minutes. The Awards are:

  • New Artist Award
  • Concert Award
  • Artist Award
  • Album Award
  • Video Award
  • Song Award

The Awards are given out in the specific order above, however the game tries to make you think it’s totally random. This will unlock at the same time as (G) Best song.

To start a new Career Mode playthrough, go to Main Menu > Career > New. You will be prompted to type your name, then you’ll get to a screen with 8 doors. The Career Mode consists of 8 rounds (by picking each of these doors) with 5 possible songs you’ll have to sing your way through. The aim of Career Mode is to get your (non-existent) single up the charts from #40 to #1, and your performance in each round will dictate how fast you rise up the charts. Each round is a random challenge, where you’ll have to do one of the following:

  • Sing one of the 5 songs
  • Sing one of the 5 songs in Expert mode (no lyrics on screen)
  • Sing the chorus of one of the 5 songs
  • Sing an extract from all 5 songs
  • Sing one of the 5 songs a capella (no sound at all playing)

Using the fan trick, all you’ll need to do to complete each round, and each Career Mode playthrough, is press :cross: to advance. You will rise up the charts within the 8 rounds, and most of the time you’ll hit #1; however, getting to #1 is not important, you will get an Award per each full playthrough. I know this because somehow my single only got to #2 on one occasion and I still got an award.

where in the hell did you scoop a copy of this game anyway? i recall when this was first released I could not find it for sale anywhere outside of Spain and none of those places would ship here

I have the advantage (or misfortune, depending on how you look at it) of living within the EU, therefore it was easier for me to import from Spain. It's the edition with the 2 microphones in a blister pack:

I do put these things on eBay and post them in the Bargain Bin thread that I have but it's hard to get them advertised well. I mean, who in the hell is searching eBay for Los 40 Principales?!

Never heard this game before  I think I will look for it on Amazon, looks easy :D

Thanks for the guide mate.

No problem. Yes it's extremely obscure, I have a hankering for that recently! It's truly a doddle, I put 1/10 for the difficulty because all I've done is turn on the fan every night and press :cross:. As well as testing things on other accounts, of course.

My copy will be going up on ebay in the UK within the week.

Just did my first career mode and got to number 2. Weirdly I was given best concert and not new artist as my award/trophy.

Well, that's weird. I think everyone who I've checked on PSNP got them in the exact order I did. I got to number 2 too but it didn't affect anything. Hopefully you get the rest of the trophies fine.

You can actually get a digital version from Spanish PSN:

Is this the way you did it? If so, what mics did you use?

Regardless, some people like to have a physical copy for their collection.

Yep, exactly. Working on it ATM. Mics - standard blue/red wired mics for singstar.

Instead of fan I am using... an exhaust of a small vacuum cleaner :D (hair dryer doesn't seem to work :/). Got 9999 on "Prayer in C" on dummy account while testing VC mode (uploaded score 9997).

Yes, I do agree that for non-spanish/EU collectors such game is quite rare.

To get a High-Score, you need at least 3000 points for that song.

This is not entirely true, since for example Coldplay - "A sky full of stars" requires 4000. It's wise to follow Main Menu -> Charts as you've mentioned earlier.

Btw. The game itself, the mechanics and trophies are like poor/exact copy of "The La Voz vol.2" (and most probably "The Voice of Germany Vol. 2" as well), too bad that the trophy for achieving high score in all the songs is not "positively" glitched here...

Edit: Done in ~7h. If you have a joy/pad with turbo + vacu... Ekhm... Fan trick, 6x "Career" mode can be done in ~3.5h as mentioned with no effort at all. Simply "fire and forget". Remaining 3h you will waste on getting HS for all 40 songs. Really, really easy title. Not a single line sang ;).
