Introduction

Welcome to Little League World Series 2010. In Little League World Series 2010, you are able to take control of a US Team or an International Team and go through a season and earn a spot in the regional tournament where you will battle other league champions for the chance to play in Little League World Series in historic Williamsport, Pennsylvania. If you have played any version of The Show or any version of the MLB2K series, then you are in for a surprise. Little League World Series has an anime style arcade feel to it, but still resembles what you expect from a typical baseball game with a few exceptions. One exception is that whether you are at bat, in the field or pitching, you can earn points that are added to your meter. The points you earn can be used in the game to give you a boost. A second exception is in Little League Baseball the games only go six innings, and if a team gets ahead by 10 or more runs then that game is over due to the mercy rule. In regional championship play and the World Series the mercy rule is in effect after the fourth inning. Another exception is that throughout all gameplay, you can earn baseball cards (54 to be exact). These cards give you advantages during play, such as making the ball disappear to the hitter. Following the road map and guide below should help you to become the Little League World Champ.

Roadmap

Step 1: You will want to create a saved game profile in the very beginning when the game loads for the first time. Your saved game profile keeps track of all your stats and cards you accumulate during play, and each time you start the game you want to make sure to load your previously saved game profile. Your saved game profile is key to such trophies as Walk of Winner, and Great Glove.

Step 2: From the main menu, go to Practice to get a feel for the controls of the game. In Practice, you will be able to practice batting, pitching, fielding, card use, talent use, and base running. Each different practice mode (i.e. batting) has a set of skills ranging from two to nine drills to work on, and each drill requires you to be successful at least three times. Once you finish a practice mode, the game will save and after the game saves your trophy will pop once you have completed all skills for that mode. By completing all Practice modes you will have earned Rookie Pitcher, Rookie Hitter, Rookie Fielder, Rookie Base Runner, Rookie Card Holder, Rookie Talent, and You're No Longer A Rookie!

Step 3: From the main menu go to Skill Challenges. There are six Skill Challenges, and each challenge will either test your batting, fielding, or pitching skills. ALL SKILL CHALLENGES MUST BE DONE ON THE CHALLENGE LEVEL, which will have the words challenge written on top of it when you select a Skill Challenge. For example, for the pitching bowling challenge, you have to select the 10 frame game. Now the batting challenges are not that difficult and can often be completed on your first try, which will get you King of Home Runs and Bat Control. The one fielding challenge will consist of you memorizing a set of throws for example: 1st > 3rd > Home > 2nd > 1st. You HAVE to do the throws in the correct order to be successful, and when you have the high score you will earn Around The Horn Memory Control. The three pitching challenges are tricky and will require some practice to get timing and release point down to where you can see a golden thumbs-up appear with 'nice' written underneath it. The pitching challenges consist of playing darts with a baseball getting you Perfect Control, pitching bowling getting you Pro Bowler, and pitching dunk tank getting you Dugout Dunker Pro.

Step 4: Next up, its time to begin your first trip to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. You can start your first tournament as either a US team to get US Bracket Winner or an International team to get International Bracket Winner. The team you pick is your choice. Once you win the championship game between the US winner and International winner you will earn World Series Champion. You may want to adjust your settings to help maximize your chance at earning all trophies related to playing in the tournament:

Difficulty: Easy
Use Cards: Yes (very import in regards to helping the ease of earning trophies).

You should also adjust your team options to the following:

Pitching: Technical
Batting: Easy
Fielding: Technical
Running: Technical

The key throughout the tournament is to win as much as possible and once you are in the actual Little World Series Tournament, you will need to win every game. While going through the tournament work on having your star position player lead the league in hitting, home runs, and RBI's (runs batted in) to earn Triple Crown. Also, have your pitchers work on having a earned run average of 2.3 or less in a tournament series to earn ERA Leader. The earned run average is when the pitcher allows a runner to score that the pitcher put on base by ether walking the batter or the batter getting a hit off the pitcher. The other tournament trophies require you to accumulate 190 base hits (meaning you hit the ball and it landed on the ground and you called safe at the base you stopped) for All-Around Team Hitters, scoring 170 runs (meaning you scored a run by crossing home) for Scoring Frenzy, and the rest of the tournament trophies are cumulative so you will have all of the remaining tournament to accomplish them.

There are tournament trophies you can unlock in one tourney game such as Turkey, where you need to strike out three batters in a row, and Hit For The Cycle, where you need to hit a single, double, triple, and a home run in the same game as a team. Do not worry about trying for Shut Out, No Hitter, and Perfect Game as there is an easier way to unlock those three in the trophy guide below.

If you have cards that you have unlocked in the game, then use them as they can greatly help you in achieving tournament trophies.

Step 5: Time to begin your second trip to reach the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. In your second tournament use either a US team or an International team, depending on which you chose for your first tournament. So if you were a US Team in your first tournament, then you have to play as an International team in your second tournament.

Step 6: Now it is clean up time and you can go after any trophies you have left. If you need certain trophies like Team Player, Highlight Player, or Master of Cards then play quick games until you reach the goal of the trophy.

Highlight Player
Caught the ball 12 times with a diving or a jumping catch.

To get this trophy, you must have fielding set to technical (technical allows the player to be in control of fielding). You can either be an infielder or outfielder. Try to get as close as you can to the yellow marker spot and hit to make a diving or jumping catch.

Great Glove
Fielded 30 error-free ground balls.

A ground ball is a batted ball that rolls or bounces on the ground. This is easiest to do with an infielder, as all you need to do is catch the ground ball and not let the ball get past you, or throw the ball away when trying to throw the runner out.

I Got It, I Got It!
Caught 100 fly balls.

A fly ball is when the ball is batted and goes in the air, usually very high. Fielders attempt to catch fly balls on their descent. Most fly balls will be caught by outfielders as all you need to do is get to the yellow marker in time and you will be credited with a caught fly ball.

All-Star Defense
Fielders completed 100 outs not including strikeouts.

Any time an infielder or outfielder catches a ball, most likely a fly ball, that batter is out. Also if the fielder catches the ball and throws a runner out, then that also counts as an out for a fielder.

Run Scorer
Scored 60 runs.

Any time you have a player who advances around all the bases to score, you will be credited with a run. Get 60 runs and this trophy is yours.

Team Player
Successfully executed 15 sacrifice hits.

You need to have a runner on 1st or 2nd base with less than 2 outs to make things easier. I would bunt, which is hit and aim with the to the direction you want the ball to go, and then move the runner to the next base while you are called out.

Doubles Master
Successfully hit 30 doubles.

A double is where when playing as a batter, you hit the ball in to play and make a run to 2nd base. Two bases = double. Hold right as you hit 1st base to advance the runner to 2nd base. You can also use to make your runner run faster. If you have the Dizzy card, which will make fielders dizzy, use it during the bat by pressing to select the Dizzy card. When you hit the ball fielders will be dizzy, thus making getting to 2nd base easier.

Power Slugger
Successfully hit 50 home runs.

Whenever you are playing as the batter, you can try to hit the ball out over the outfield wall. Make it and you will see "Home Run" appear on screen. If your star player comes up to bat and you are at level 3, then hit and if you make contact with the ball (by hitting ) it should be an automatic home run.

Power Pitcher
Struck out 60 batters.

A key tip for this one is to work your pitch selection and location. If your location is close to the batter, then the batter is likely to miss and get a strike. Your best bet is to keep aiming close in to the batter, and changing up your pitches to get your strikes. Three strikes, and you get a strike out.

Walk Off Winner
Won 5 walk-off games in your final at bat.

In the menu, go from Exhibition to Custom Game and set the game to one inning. Make sure that Player 1 (that's you) is the home team, so you will bat last. Just get a walk off hit in 5 games and the trophy is yours.

All-Star Talents
Used Talents 20 times.

You gain talent throughout the course of game from strikes thrown, strikeouts, hits, and catches made. There are three levels of talent. When you reach level 1, you can hit to activate the talent. If you're a pitcher then you will have more speed to your pitches, and if you're a batter then you will have more power behind your swing. At each different level the power is increased. Do this 20 times and the trophy is yours.

Perfect Control
Achieved the high score in Pitching Darts with a Challenge rule.

From the main menu go to: Skill Challenges > Pitching Darts > Challenge - 10 rounds. You need to beat the high score to be awarded this trophy. Try to aim for the 9, 8, and 7 squares with the exact pitch based on the color of the square. Hitting the square with the exact pitch it calls for doubles the points so a 9 square becomes 18 points. You have to beat the score over the 10 rounds of the challenge.

Pro Bowler
Achieved the high core in Pitching Bowling in a 10 frame game.

From the main menu go to: Skill Challenges > Pitching Bowling > Challenge - 10 Frame Game. The difficulty increases with each frame, and the points increase for a spare (knocked down all pins in one throw) and strike (in two throws knocked down all pins) each time. You only have two attempts in each frame, and you will only earn points for a spare or strike. Beat the score of 2500 to get the trophy.

Dugout Dunker Pro
Achieved the high score in Dunk Dugout with 5 turns.

From the main menu go to: Skill Challenges > Dugout Dunker > Challenge - 5 Turns. You will find the dugout mascot in a water dunk tank, and you will have to throw baseballs at a spinning wheel next to the dunk tank. You only get points if you successfully hit with all the baseballs during that turn. Be careful with your time, as you have a 20 second time limit for each turn. Beat the score of 2100 to receive the trophy.

King Of Home Runs
Achieved the high score in Home Run Tourney with 20 balls.

From the main menu go to: Skill Challenges > Home Run Tourney > Challenge - 20 Balls. In the outfield there will be targets that you can hit that will give you bonus points, such as hitting a moving air balloon. The goal here is to hit as many home runs as you can as well as targets to get a score better than 10,000. Consecutive home runs will add more points to you total score.

Bat Control
Achieved the high score in Batting Frenzy using the 5 x 5 rule
.

From the main menu go to: Skill challenges > Batting Frenzy > Challenge - 5x5 rule. Here you need to use the to aim where you want the ball to land when you hit it. You will have the entire field broken into squares, and the further you hit the ball the more points you get. Beat the score of 500 and this trophy is yours.

Around The Horn Memory Control
Achieved the high score in Around the Horn using the 2 miss rule.

From the main menu go to: Skill Challenges > Around the Horn > Challenge - 2 Miss Rule. This will consist of you memorizing a set of throws, for example: 1st > 3rd > Home > 2nd > 1st. You HAVE to do the throws in the correct order to be successful. To make things easier write the set of throws down. Beat the score of 1850 and the trophy is yours.

Card Collector
Collected 27 cards.

See Master of Cards.

Grand Slam
Successfully hit a base-loaded home run in a tournament game.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament game. To set this up, you will need runners on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd base. Then with your star player (use your star player as he should be more capable of hitting home runs) hit a home run. You should try to make sure your talent is at level 3 to ensure you are able to hit a grand slam.

Shut Out
Won a game by shutout in a tournament.

See Perfect Game.

SILVER

You're No Longer A Rookie!
Completed all the training.

From the main menu, go to Practice and select any one of the six training modes. In Practice, you will be able to practice batting, pitching, fielding, card use, talent use, and base running. Each different practice mode (i.e. batting) has a set of skills ranging from two to nine to work on, and each skill requires you to be successful at least three times. Once you finish a practice mode, the game will save and after the game saves your trophy will pop once you have completed all the skills for that particular mode.

Card Enthusiast
Collected 38 cards.

See Master of Cards.

Turkey
Struck out 3 batters in a row in a tournament game.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament game. Now work your pitch selection and location. If your location is aimed close to the batter, then the batter is more likely to miss and get a strike. Your best bet is to keep the location near the batter and then change up your pitches. Get three strikes to get a strike out.

If you have talents available, make sure to use them. Do this three times in a row and this trophy is yours.

Hit For The Cycle
Successfully hit a single, double, triple, and a home run as a team in a tournament game.

This one is tricky. In most Little League World Series tournament games you are able to get a single, double, and a home run as a team. But getting a triple (meaning to get to 3rd base off a hit) can be tricky. If you have the Dizzy card then use it before the first pitch by hitting and selecting the Dizzy card.

Now for the tricky bit: use the and aim to land the ball down the right field line, giving you enough time to get to third base by holding down to advance to third base.

Triple Crown
Led the league in batting average, home runs, and RBI's.

This has to done in a Little League World Series tournament. This is not a team achievement. It has to be done with a single player. Your best bet is to do this with your star player, as his attributes are the highest on the team. Try to get runners on base before your star player comes up to bat to help increase his RBI's. Now try to have your talent at level 3 so you can hit when your star player is at bat to guarantee a homerun. Try to not let your star player strike out or fail to get on base to keep his average up.

No Hitter
Won a tournament with a no hitter.

See Perfect Game.

Dr. K
Recorded 70 strikeouts in a tournament series.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament. Make sure to work your pitch selection and location. If your location is close to the batter, than the batter is more likely to miss and get a strike. Your best bet is to keep aiming near the batter and changing up your pitches. Get three strikes to get a strike out. Also if you have talents available, make sure to use them. By doing this, getting 70 strikeouts over the whole tournament should not be that difficult. Try to average at least four a game.

Everyone Hits!
All the team members achieved base hits in the same game in a tournament.

This has to be done in a single tournament game. All nine players on your team needs to get a base hit, meaning they reached at least 1st base safely. Use cards if you have them to help get all nine players get at least one hit in the game.

All-Around Team Hitters
Achieved 190 base hits in a tournament series.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament. This is a cumulative team trophy, so any base hits your team gets per game are saved and count towards the 190 base hits. Your best bet is to at least average 7-10 base hits per game.

Scoring Frenzy
Achieved 170 runs in a tournament series.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament. This is a cumulative team trophy, so any runs scored by your team per game are saved and count towards the 170 runs. Your best bet is to try and average five runs per game.

ERA Leader
Got an earned run average of 2.3 or less in a tournament series.

This has to be done in a Little League World Series tournament. This is a cumulative trophy, so throughout tournament play try to not allow more than 2 runs against you per game. If you work your pitch selection and location as you did for Dr.K, then you should be able to allow less than 2.3 runs a game as a pitcher.

US Bracket Winner
Won the US tournament bracket.

See World Series Champion.

International Bracket Winner
Won the international bracket winner.

See World Series Champion.

GOLD

Master of Cards
Collected all 54 cards.

To see which cards you have unlocked and your progression towards each card you have not unlocked, go from the main menu to clubhouse and select card binder. When looking through the card binder, you can view all 54 cards, and by hitting you can see your progression towards any given card. Most cards deal with certain number of strikeouts, hits, catches and games played.

Almost all the cards can be obtained through your two playthroughs for US Bracket Winner, International Winner, and World Series Champion. If you still need a certain card, then from the main menu select quick game and focus on what you need to accomplish for a given card.

Perfect Game
Won a tournament game with no hits, walks, or errors.

There is a nice glitch in the game that has not been fixed by the patch that will get you Shut Out, No Hitter, and Perfect Game. To make things easier start a new tournament with any team, and in the first game let the CPU team throw a perfect game against you. Meaning you did not score a run, get a walk, or get a hit.

Now you have to be careful and not let the CPU accidentally walk you. I suggest that as soon as the pitcher gets ready to release the pitch, you hit for a quick swing that will result in a strike.

Make sure you let the CPU score sometime in the sixth inning game so the CPU wins. When the game is over, the three trophies will appear. (Credit: Reys813fan).

If you want to earn Perfect Game on your own then I suggest when pitching to the CPU, you throw two 2-seam fastball pitches down and in. Then go up and in with a 4-seam fastball. The CPU will strike out 80% of the time as long as you have a pitcher with good pitching attributes. Always aim for a nice pitch (meaning you release when it hits the blue in the pitch meter), and if a player on the CPU uses their talents to get a glowing yellow or blue bat, then hit to adjust your fielders to play deep, but still throw the same sequence of pitches.

If you have cards available, then use them. The ground play ball cards help against a star player, as if the player gets a hit it will not be a homerun. Also if you get over 100 talent points then hit and you will get increased speed on all pitches. (Credit: babygeez11)

World Series Champion
Won the World Series.

You will play at least 26 games through an entire tournament to be World Series Champion. After the first 15 games, your team needs to be either in first or second place to advance to the regional tournament. Win the regional tournament, and you will be entered in the Little League World Series. Go undefeated through the Little League World series as either a US Team or an International Team and the trophy will be yours after the championship game is over.

PLATINUM

Little League Trophy Champ
Earned all trophies.

Congratulations! You are a True Little League Champ.

Thanks a lot for the guide!!! So far I'm a little bit half way to platinum. Nothing too hard but the Skill challenges are the only thing giving me issues. I've gotten all but the bowling one that is just a pain in the butt.

Thanks again and great work.
