LEGO Jurassic World ~ Collectibles Guide

Recommended Posts

This guide will give you the locations of the collectibles in the story and free play levels. The collectibles you get in the paddocks will be in the paddock guide.

The good news is that you won't have to buy any additional characters after beating the story levels. The bad news is that you'll eventually need to save up 2 BILLION studs for a trophy, and use those to buy everything for the 100% completion trophy. The worst news is that you're going to be diving into a lot of dinosaur poop to get your collectibles ;)

In terms of dinosaurs, Free Play relies mostly on the Dilophosaurus (acid spit) and Pachycephalosaurus (head-butting). It also uses Velociraptors (scenting and raptor bars). You'll need to get the breed's Amber Brick to unlock it for free play. When you're ready to start free play, I highly suggest that you first play Jurassic Park: The Dig Site to get the Velociraptor, then move to The Lost World: San Diego Docks to get Pachycephalosaurus, and then to Jurassic World: Indominus Paddock to get Dilophosaurus. This will minimize any backtracking you may have to do for free-play cleanup.

A note about dark areas: There are a few characters with flares, like Malcolm. Usually this will suffice. However, if you need to interact with anything in the dark area, you need to switch to a night vision character, like Timmy Murphy.

All collectibles are Free Play only unless noted.

JURASSIC PARK

Raptor Transfer

Raptor Fossil 1Story Mode – While rebuilding the track to move the raptor cage, you need to hit two targets above the cage to drop track pieces and the fossil piece. I got this by targeting both at once but that may not be necessary.

Raptor Fossil 2 – Throughout the level are three spotlights that you need to charge. There's one on the lower level and two on the top level.

Minikit – On the top level, break open the gated area with a bolt cutter character, then dive into the pile of dinosaur poop.

The Dig Site

Raptor Fossil 3 – Throughout the stage are three rocks you can break apart and build sandcastles with. There's one on the middle tier of the level and two on the top tier.

Raptor Fossil 4 – On the middle tier of the level, next to the tent, is a dark cave with the fossil in it.

Amber Brick – On the top tier of the level is a tent with a crawl spot that will take you behind the helicopter. Break the objects around to rebuild a machine, then drive it around to dig up the amber.

Raptor Enclosure

Raptor Fossil 5 – On the right of the stage, in the small pile of dino poop.

Raptor Fossil 6 – Use the watering point near the top left of the stage.

Red Brick (Nedry Mode) – Use the dig spot in the fenced in area (the one where the truck is).

Triceratops Recovery

Triceratops Fossil 1 – When you get control of the triceratops, go all the way to the left and break the rock to reveal a dig spot. Swap characters and dig up the fossil.

Triceratops Fossil 2 – On the left of the stage is a water point that creates a trampoline. It will take you to an area with a dark cave. This spot is how you get to the apple to heal the triceratops.

Amber BrickStory Mode – After healing the triceratops, continue through the stage until you have to charge a tree to continue the stage. The amber brick will drop from the tree.

T-Rex Enclosure

Triceratops Fossil 3 – On the left of the stage is a large pile of dino poop with the fossil in it.

Triceratops Fossil 4Story Mode – On the left of the stage, there are plants you can cut. Behind them is a Lego object to destroy, under which is a dig spot. This is also the place where you get a valve to continue with the story.

Minikit – On the right, next to the start point, is a tree to break that gives you a carrot. Use a raptor to track its scent, which leads to bricks to build a rabbit. Chase and kill the rabbit for the minikit.

T-Rex Chase

Triceratops Fossil 5Story Mode – Stick hard to the right side of the stage. Eventually you'll get kicked over to a short alternate path. The fossil is in the middle of it. This will be right before the level turns into a side-scroller.

Triceratops Fossil 6Story Mode – Stick hard to the left side of the stage during the first part, and you'll be kicked over to a short alternate path. It's impossible to get Fossil 5 and Fossil 6 in a single play-through.

Red Brick (Malcolm Mode) – Story Mode – Whenever the T-Rex opens its mouth to roar, throw a flare in it (hold down square and target it). Do this five times throughout the course of the stage. It's easy to get it during the first part of the stage.

The Raptor Pack

T-Rex Fossil 1Story Mode – Throughout the stage are four targets with bird eggs to shoot. These are all located prior to sliding down the hill for the raptor battle.

T-Rex Fossil 2 – At the far right of the stage, behind some cuttable plants.

Red Brick (Fast Build) – There's a dig spot near the beginning of the stage, under the target you need to shoot down to lower a vine.

Kitchen Escape

T-Rex Fossil 3 – Hit two specific carts in the level. It will send a rat scuttling to various parts of the stage. When you close the raptor in the freezer, I guess the rat goes with it, because that prompts (3/3) and the fossil will spawn next to the freezer.

Spoiler

8V08Ljz.jpg

T-Rex Fossil 4 – In the bottom right of the stage, near the freezer, is a panel that Malcolm can use to open the dumbwaiter with the fossil inside.

Minikit – In the third row of the level (prior to the hatch and the freezer) is an oven that you need to fix with a mechanic.

Main Hall

T-Rex Fossil 5 – After crawling through the hatch at the beginning, use an agile character to leap left into a new area. Use scream to break the glass doors nearby and get the piece. (This is in the same area as the amber brick).

T-Rex Fossil 6 – Play through the first part of the T-Rex battle, then go left and use Barry to shoot the blue target.

Amber Brick – After crawling through the hatch at the beginning, use an agile character to leap left into a new area. There's a breakable crate here. (This is the same area as T-Rex Fossil 5).

THE LOST WORLD

Finding Sarah

Stegosaurus Fossil 1 – At the top tier of the stage near the water where the stegosauruses are is a dig spot that gives you a tracking object. Follow its path for the fossil.

Stegosaurus Fossil 2 – Throughout the stage are three large dinosaur poop piles. The last one is next to the area with Stegosaurus Fossil 1.

Red Brick (Stud Magnet) – Near the beginning, next to the tree you pull down with the vine, is a dark Lego wall. Use Dilophosaurus to open it up and get the brick.

Camp Sabotage

Stegosaurus Fossil 3 – Throughout the stage are three charge points. There's two prior to the large dino smash rock and one past the stegosaurus cage.

Stegosaurus Fossil 4 – Throughout the stage are three dark brick spots you'll need Dilophosaurus to break apart. There's one prior to the dino rock break point, one just past the stegosaurus cage, and one on the far right of the stage.

Amber Brick – In the campfire area after the dino rock break point, there's an InGen tent in the back that can be cut open for the amber.

Mobile Lab

Stegosaurus Fossil 5 – After winching the truck up for the first time, instead of switching back to the rope climbing character, switch to an agile character and jump onto the top of the truck.

Stegosaurus Fossil 6 – There's a dig spot between the two cars on the cliff.

MinikitStory Mode – At the top left of the rope climbing section. You won't be able to access it until the third part of the rope-climbing portion. There's no falling objects to get in your way this time.

Attack on the Camp

Compsognathus Fossil 1Story Mode – Stick to the left of the screen and you'll run into it. It's right around when the camera angle changes to side-scrolling.

Compsognathus Fossil 2Story Mode – Right after where the first fossil piece is, hold up/right until you hit a palm tree, then IMMEDIATELY hit down and hug the bottom of the screen until you hit the second palm tree.

MinikitStory Mode – Right before the end of the stage, when the camera shifts to behind the runners/after the cut scene of the guy trapped on the dino's foot, in the middle of the screen is a log to jump over for the minikit.

The Long Grass

Compsognathus Fossil 3Story Mode – Save all 5 InGen Hunters. You'll be doing this for most of them anyway for story mode, and they're all right in your path.

Compsognathus Fossil 4 – Just after you build the lawn mower, there's a dig spot you can use.

Amber Brick – Near the end of the stage, where you build the hamburger, at the far right of the area is a plant you can cut down which leads to a dark cave where the amber is.

Compound

Compsognathus Fossil 5 – At the beginning of the stage, cut down the plants right next to where you spawn.

Compsognathus Fossil 6 – Behind the Jeep that you need to tow to continue the stage is an item that you can use to track the fossil down.

Red Brick (x6 Studs) – After crossing through the building to the second half of the stage, use the water point to grow a flower trampoline that will take you to the brick.

Radio Tower

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 1 – On the third tier of the stage, use Malcolm to go into the dark area where the raptor emerged.

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 2 – On the top tier of the level there's a hatch that a small character can use to access a new area with the fossil in it.

Red Brick (Helium Voices) – On the same tier as Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 1, cross the swing bars and shoot the target above the skeleton on the wall.

San Diego Docks

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 3Story Mode – Near the end of the level, after you push the big crate onto the checkered path, there's a blue open container that Malcolm can enter. This is right before the switches that lowers the elevator.

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 4 – At the beginning of the stage, go through the dark cargo hold, climb the ladder and go left past the crane and jump into the large dino poop pile.

Amber Brick – Play through the stage until you get to the two gear doors. Use the InGen panel connected to the left door to open it and get to a new area. There's a charge point in the back right of this new area that gives you the amber.

San Diego Streets

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 5Story Mode – After the camera switches perspective to behind the car, stay on the right. You'll see studs leading to a ramp to the piece. A Traveller's Tales logo will roll in front of you right before this.

Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 6Story Mode – At the beginning of the level, stick to the right until you hit a scooter. When the level switches to behind the car, stick to the left of the screen (it's just after the ramp you'll take to get Pachycephalosaurus Fossil 5). When the camera changes again IMMEDIATELY get to the left of the screen or you'll miss the third scooter.

MinikitStory Mode – Throw three turkeys into the T-Rex's mouth.

JURASSIC PARK III

Spinosaurus Escape

Gallimimus Fossil 1Story Mode – After the side-scrolling part, stick to the left of the screen and you'll run into it.

Gallimimus Fossil 2Story Mode – During the side scrolling part, stick near the top/middle of the screen (stick around the light patches on the ground). There's a ramped area that will lead to the fossil. The ramp itself is kind of buggy, and more often than not you'll run through it rather than on it; it's easier to try to jump to the fossil.

Red Brick (x8 Studs) – Story Mode – Just after Gallimimus Fossil 1, continue sticking to the left of the screen to immediately run into a dirt pile with the brick inside. This is just after the path curves, right before the end of the stage.

Spinosaurus vs. T-Rex

Gallimimus Fossil 3 – On the right at the very beginning is a raptor scent item. Follow it to dig up the fossil.

Gallimimus Fossil 4 – In the section after the egg catapault is a rock you can break open with a charging dinosaur.

Amber BrickStory Mode – On each side (left and right) of the stage, before opening more of the stage by using the catapult, there are objects you can rebuild into bird nests. The bird nest you need to build for the catapult doesn't count.

The Crash Site

Gallimimus Fossil 5 – After passing through the hollow log late in the level, the next tree has a hatch on the side of it. Crawl through it and get the fossil.

Gallimimus Fossil 6Story Mode – There are three targets high in the trees to shoot. Two are before the big hollow tree trunk and one is after.

Minikit – When you start the stage, go through until you hit a large tree stump. There's a blue target Barry can shoot to get the minikit.

Lab Interior

Anklyosaurus Fossil 1 – There are six lights you need to shoot throughout the stage. See photos for better locations. For two of them, use an agile character to jump onto the pictured vent and access a higher balcony.

Anklyosaurus Fossil 2 – Near the end of the stage you'll find an InGen panel. Use it to bring up four switches in front of test tubes in the back (you'll see the fossil in them). Step on the panels in front of the fossil to wash it out of the broken tube.

Amber Brick – When you get to the first busted lab area, under the stairs is a blue target for Barry to shoot. The amber is in the dark room the target opens.

Corridor Chase

Anklyosaurus Fossil 3Story Mode – In the second part of the stage, stay in the middle and jump to reach it.

Anklyosaurus Fossil 4Story Mode – In the third part of the stage, after the red InGen barrel, stick to the left and you'll run into it.

MinikitStory Mode – There are three red InGen barrels in the level, one in each section. They are on the left, the top, and the right respectively.

Eric's Hideout

Anklyosaurus Fossil 5 – At the far right of the stage, use electric charge on the box next to the vending machine.

Anklyosaurus Fossil 6Story Mode – After you get the dinosaur, there's a wall near the vending machine it can break open.

Red Brick (Collectible Detector) – At the beginning of the stage, in the truck you have to use the tow line on. Use Barry or a rope character to pull open the truck door.

The Coast

Spinosaurus Fossil 1Story Mode – On the far right of the stage is a hatch you can crawl through. Then use camouflage to sneak past the raptor and get the fossil.

Spinosaurus Fossil 2 – In the area where you cut loose a tree trunk to continue is a wall you can climb. It takes you to a rock you can crowbar open, which leads to a dark cave you can enter.

Red Brick (x10 Studs) – When on the top tier of the stage head left and parachute across the gap. Use the dig point to pull up bars that allow an agile character to jump over the fence. It's behind breakable crates in this new area.

Pteranodon Nests

Spinosaurus Fossil 3 – After pulling down the large fence to create a bridge at the beginning of the stage, use Timmy (not Malcolm) to enter the dark area and break open the crate.

Spinosaurus Fossil 4Story Mode – In the middle of a stud ring during the end parachuting part.

Amber Brick – There's three targets in the stage to hit. There's two before you parachute for the first time, and one after. You'll have to backtrack a bit in the stage to get the amber once it appears.

Spinosaurus Showdown

Spinosaurus Fossil 5 – On the beginning island, break a wood pallet on the right to get a tracking object. Follow it to get the fossil.

Spinosaurus Fossil 6 – After getting to the crane, use an agile character to jump up to the higher ledge next to it. Break open the crate there and kill the crab it contains.

MinikitStory Mode – At the beginning of the stage, shoot all four buoys in the water with the flare catapult. You'll pick up the kit when the level makes you change characters.

JURASSIC WORLD

Raptor Research Area

Dilophosaurus Fossil 1 – Use raptor bar on the far right of the stage to open the cage and get the fossil.

Dilophosaurus Fossil 2 – There's a dig point on the far right of the stage, in front of the raptor cage.

Red Brick (Confetti Attacks) – Right at the beginning, cut open the nearby dumpster for a tracking object. It leads to a dig point that you can use to get the brick.

Raptor Pig Hunt

Dilophosaurus Fossil 3 – Play through to the last area. On the left of the screen is a water point that makes a trampoline to bounce you to the fossil.

Dilophosaurus Fossil 4 – Play through to the end area. There's a dig point on the top right of the screen.

MinikitStory Mode – In a cage in the area where you build the tire trampoline, clear out the trees clearing the entrance to the minikit area.

Indominus Paddock

Dilophosaurus Fossil 5 – At the beginning of the level, go right a bit to find a dinosaur smash point.

Dilophosaurus Fossil 6 – In a dark cave midway through the level, next to the water bowl and broken pump.

Amber Brick – There are five sets of claw marks scattered throughout the stage. See photos for a better idea of where they are. Make sure you get (1/5) before fixing the pump. (2/5) will register after the cutscene. (5/5) is past where you need to cut down the meat crate.

Apatosaurus Fossil 2Story Mode – In the left-right side-scrolling part, after the wooden sign, the camera will change again. Hold to the left of the track.

Amber BrickStory Mode – There are three wooden signs in the level, each located in the middle of the track. The third one is in the left-right side-scrolling part.

Indominus Escape

Apatosaurus Fossil 3 – On the ground level are three water points. The last is after crossing the dinosaur spine bridge.

Apatosaurus Fossil 4 – At the beginning of the stage is a door you can crowbar open (it's in the “tiptoe area”).

Red Brick (Destroy on Contact) – At the end of the stage you'll see it through a window. Crawl into the nearby hatch to get to it.

Main Street

Apatosaurus Fossil 5 – After building the jukebox to open the path, scream to break the glass of the nearby window, then use the watering point there.

Apatosaurus Fossil 6Story Mode – Throughout the level, on the bottom of the screen are five destroyable lights (not counting the one the dinosaur breaks in the water). The last one is just past the bus/Jurassic Traders store.

Minikit – Past the Jurassic Traders store is a food cart, next to which is a rope to cut down the minikit.

The Alpha

Indominus Fossil 1Story Mode – After sneaking past the raptor by crawling through the log, go to the right and dig it out of the dino droppings.

Indominus Fossil 2 – On the far left of the stage, use the watering point then climb the flower that grows.

Red Brick (x4 Studs) – On the right of the stage, to the right of the trapped person is a small dark cave where the brick is.

Indominus Fossil 4Story Mode – After shooting the raptor in the side-scrolling part, while the raptor is chasing you, stay near the top and you'll run into it.

MinikitStory Mode – In the second part of the stage, after the side-scrolling part, stick to the right of the track to pick up the minikit. Do this before shooting the raptor off of the truck.

Boardwalk Showdown

Indominus Fossil 5Story Mode – During the raptor part, after using the raptor bar to get on top of the building, go right. Use the near raptor bar to pull down a crate with the fossil inside.

Indominus Fossil 6 – In the first part, after using the crank on the platform to get onto the building, crowbar the door next to the hand scanner to get into an office. It's in a breakable object by the double doors.

Amber BrickStory Mode – At the beginning, go to the right of the stage, destroy the dinosaur skeleton and build it into a trampoline. Use it to reach the amber.

Brilliant guide - I don't think I would have found the first scratch marks in Indominus Paddock without your help.

Thank you! Happy to help.

It took me a few tries to find that first set of scratch marks, because that water just looks like an instant death pit. It was sheer frustration that made me jump in there.

A-thankyou, sir.

Already looking forward to LEGO Avengers.

Quick update - I have finished the game, and I don't have a Raptor character. While they were provided as part of the story based progression, they don't unlock simply through completion.

You need all the Fossil's in Chapter 1 to unlock a Raptor for free play.

This is relevant, as you need a Raptor to unlock one of the Fossils for the Dilophosaurus(the first Fossil I believe), and you need the Dilophosaurus for the last Red Brick (Magnet).

Really? You're sure? Because I thought beating Jurassic World's story levels automatically unlocked Charlie, Blue, Delta, etc. for free play, but that you had to get the fossils and amber to use them in the paddocks/make custom dinosaurs.

Pretty sure. I wonder if you already had all the Fossils from the first movie?

As soon as I collected the Raptor Fossils, they were all available, but until then I could not choose them as they were locked.

Not likely, as my MO is to clear all story modes then go back to the beginning and do freeplay.

That having been said, not all levels allow you to use dinosaurs, even in free-play. Where did you try it?

I'm not saying you're wrong - if I made a mistake I'll fix it - I just want to make sure we have the right information.

I did. Fixed the guide.

Ok, so this is the part where I need to eat crow while you say 'told you so'

I screwed up - I was under the impression that you need the Fossils to unlock dinos, but instead it is the Amber Bricks. You were correct, the dilo-whatever Amber Brick can be obtained in story play (it is in the Indominus Rex cage level, for finding the 5 claw marks). No special characters are required.

Using Dilo you can get the Stud Magnet Red Brick, as you need the acid spit power to break the black wall.

You cannot use certain dinos in free-play. In particular, the large dinos (Triceratops, T-Rex, Indominus) are all locked.

You will eventually need the Raptor, Dilo and Pachy to access all the Fossils, but your method was probably the most direct.

I found it a bit confusing as the game never really explained how to unlock or use the dinos :2walls:

You can unfix the guide :p

I know. I was surprised when I was scrolling through characters and suddenly a dinosaur just popped up. There's zero explanation; I just assumed you needed the fossils, and that the amber was to unlock them for customization (because that kinda makes sense when you think about it)

What about how it reads now?

No, turns out the 6 fossils are needed to unlock the hologram image of the dinosaurs in the Information Centre (or whatever it is called). They actually serve no purpose from a game play perspective.

The Amber Bricks are all that is needed to unlock the dinos. You don't need to purchase them or anything, they are free to use in free play once you have the Amber Brick, even if you don't have any/all of the corresponding Fossils for that dinosaur..

The confusing part is some of the bigger dinos can't be used in levels, period. The Triceratops is a weird example - you can unlock it with an Amber Brick, you can use it during a story level, but you cannot use it in any other level, other than the one where you heal it as part of the story.

Edit - reads fine now, although I think you were right initially with Jurassic World first, then JPI then JPII, although it really doesn't matter. You need the Stud Multipliers, Magnet and Break on Contact Bricks for maximal stud farming.

My only other suggestion would be to clearly indicate that the Amber Bricks unlock Dinos, not the Fossils. I will put this in the main guide, but it would be good to have that here as well, as I think that is going to be a source of confusion for many (I was confused, and I think ditty has the same issue as I did).

I guess I just never checked. I knew the fossils were for the holograms, but I just assumed you needed all six fossils and the Amber Brick to unlock each dinosaur (especially because the game never tells you exactly what's needed anyways). You'd think that the game would make you work a little harder to get massive destructive beasts in each level :o

Done and done. I've included the specific stages and bolded them all to make them stand out in the intro text. Hopefully it's the last time I'll have to change it, but it's good to finally have full confirmation on all these things.

Yes, as the guide says, Triceratops isn't available for free play. Use the Pachycephalosaurus

You don't need to buy it. Just get its Amber Brick and you'll be good to go.
