Knytt Underground is one of those puzzle/platform games which won’t tell you what to do exactly. You can easily go through the entire game without obtaining a single trophy. All of the trophies are pretty much hidden in the game and some are even secrets in secrets. While the game overall is pretty simple, obtaining the 100% for this game won’t be easy. The main reason is because there’s 1 trophy that requires you to go through 15 difficult challenges. There are no missable trophies, but do keep an eye out on the
Shortcut Genius
trophy. If you miss this one, you’ll have to replay the whole of chapter 3, which is the longest and last chapter in the game.

Complete Chapter 1 & 2

Simply complete Chapter 1 & 2 to get the hang of the game and to understand the basics.

Interlude

After Chapter 2 you’ll enter the Interlude. The Interlude has 2 related trophies, which are the
Dance in the sky
and the
Fireworks
trophies. If you miss these, you can go back any time by starting chapter 2.

Menu & Credits

There are a few trophies hidden in the menu and the credits of the game. In the menu itself, you’ll be able to obtain the
Because it’s tradition
trophy. In the credits of the game you’ll be able to obtain
Knytt Stories
and the
Tobias Chilli
trophy. These are pretty easy, but the credit trophies require some tricky jumps and climbs.

Chapter 3 - Ring all 6 bells without paying the Bell Guards

Now it’s time to start Chapter 3. There’s 1 trophy that can be easily missed. If you do miss it, you’ll have to redo the whole of Chapter 3. It’s the
Shortcut Genius
trophy. Once you’ve obtained this trophy, you don’t have to worry about anything. Do make sure you have enough crystals and/or coins though, since crystals are required for Disorder portals. These portals are required for this trophy and a few others.

Chapter 3 - Clean up

Once you’ve rung all 6 bells (without paying the Bell Guards), you’ll need to put your absolute skills to the test. It’s easier going for the hard to reach places first, since you’ll get to practice on some hard jumps and tricks.

If you’re going for the
Falu Kohe
trophy, make sure to read the
Mysterious Forest
trophy first. The Falu Kohe trophy is the hardest to obtain in this game. It requires you to go through 15 difficult challenges. The Mysterious Forest trophy can only be obtained while going for the Falu Kohe trophy. So if you happen to miss it, you’ll have to redo most (11) of the challenges.

You'll want to keep the
Heroic Dance
trophy as last, because this trophy requires you to activate 60 save points, and there are quite a few save points in the Mini Figure (
La Vupene
trophy) and Figure (
Falu Kohe
trophy).

This can be done in Chapter 3. The Alpha spot is at 35,18.

Go to 36,18 first and stand on the small hill (next to Malie if he’s there). Turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:). Grab the ledge on the left and go all the way to the top of the room. Turn into a ball again and use your speed boost. You’ll want to aim for the big gap on the left. There’s a ledge on the left, with a hidden path. Follow it to the next room (36,17). You’ll see the Gamma icon right in front of you. You can’t reach it from here though, you’ll need to walk forward, but be careful, you’ll drop down. Quickly turn into a ball again and use your speed boost once more to reach the Alpha spot.

You’ll have to fall down and turn into a ball (:r1:) and aim for the ledge on the left. Now go up and follow the path all the way to the left room (18,7). Grab the wall on the left and go down to the room below and you’ll see the Beta icon on your left. Now remember how this room looks and go back up to the previous room. Make sure you look to the left, since this will shoot you horizontally towards where you’re looking. Grab the ledge again and follow the path. You’ll see a yellow power up. Grab it and use it to shoot yourself vertically up in the air. When you’re almost at the top, deactivate the power up (:l1:) and drop down the narrow path below you. Now follow the path and grab the ledge, above the red power up. Now let go of the ledge, grab the red power up and when you’re about to fall towards the room below, use the power up for a super jump and aim toward the next wall. Now grab the wall, above the green power up. Now turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:). You’ll grab the power up while falling down. You’ll want to hit the floor of the room below first and aim towards the room next to it, on the left. In this room, hit the floor once more and while at the point where you’re about to go down again, activate your power up and you’ll be able to fly wherever you want. Be careful, hit anything and the power up will deactivate itself. You’ll see the Gamma icon on your left.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/928.jpg Heroic Dance (B) (H)

Find a hidden disco area in one of the mini-chapters.

This can be done in Chapter 3.

You’ll need to activate 60/60 save points before you can start a mini-chapter. There are actually 61 save points in the game though. These are represented with a S on your map once you’ve found the room with a save point. They’re the white light beams. Stand in the beam to save your game and active it. Not all save points can be found on your normal map though. 18 save points are hidden outside the map boundaries. You’ll discover 3 of them when going for the La Vupene trophy, and the remaining 15 when going for the Falu Kohe trophy.

Use

this map for all the save point locations in the map boundaries.

Once you’ve activated 60 save points, go to any save point and press :triangle:. You’ll get to choose between 3 mini-chapters. Choose the RPG chapter. Once started, go all the way to the right until you get to a room with a button and a few blue and red colored blocks. You’ll also see 2 spinning wheels. Jump on the first one to get on the ledge on the right. Than use the second one to hit the upper left wall. From there, jump to the ledge with the blue box. Go through the blue box, hit the button and go through the red boxes. Now go all the way to the right until you have to go up. Don’t go up though - there’s a hidden path below the ledge on your right. Go through it and follow the path until you get to the disco area.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/05A.jpg Sandwich (B) (H)

Find the hidden sandwich recipe.

This can be done in Chapter 3.

The hidden sandwich recipe can be found in a hidden room beneath 33,29 outside the map boundaries. On the left of the room, you’ll see 2 small pillars. Stand on the left pillar and turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:) to find a hidden path in the ceiling. Follow the path to the room with the hidden sandwich recipe. There is however, a door that blocks your path. To open this door, you’ll have to find the 4 Corner Pieces (these are stored at the most right column in your inventory (:select:)). These 4 pieces can be found at the following locations:

  • Top-left Corner Piece (1,0)
Go to 4,0. Turn into a ball and grab the green power up while hanging on the wall. Once a second green power up spawns, use your power up (:l1:) and grab the green power up again. Fly to the left and when your green power up loses its power, quickly activate your second green power up and move to the right again. You don’t have to reach the ledge on the left with the green power up, if you drop down far enough in the water on the left, the enemy won’t electrocute you and you’ll be able to reach the ledge as a ball (:r1:). Now move to the room on the left and the corner piece is right in front of you.
  • Bottom-left Corner Piece (0,28)
Go to 0,24. Stand on the path where you can move to a room on your right. Don’t go there though, you’ll have to drop down on the very first ledge on the right. There’s a hidden path on the right of it. Follow the path. The room after the one with the enemy, you’ll need to move through the building on the left, by using a hidden path behind the upper yellow window. The room below it, you’ll have to use a hidden path in the middle of the building. The corner piece is right in front of you.
  • Top-right Corner Piece (46,0)
Go to 46,2. Grab the red power up and use it (:l1:) to reach the gap above you. Now climb all the way to the top of the right or left wall. Turn into a ball and use your speed boost (:cross:). Hit the small ledge below you and aim for the gap above you. When at maximum height, quickly turn back to Mi (:r1:) and she should do a jump and you’ll be able to reach the wall on the left or right. Now move through the tunnel. There’s a hidden path above you at the first pillar. Move up and to the left and the corner piece is in front of you.
  • Bottom-right Corner Piece (47,28)
Go to 46,29. Jump to the middle and turn into a ball. Grab the red powerup and aim yourself towards the wall on the left. Use the power up (:l1:) to reach the necessary height. Now fall down and turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:). Grab the red power up again and while at the highest point, use the red power up to reach the ledge on the right. Move to the room on your right and the corner piece is on your right, which you can reach via the wall on the very right.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/B82.jpg La Vupene (B) (H)

Complete the Mini Figure.

This can be done in Chapter 3.

The Mini Figure is hidden outside the map boundaries, underneath 39,29. The Mini Figure consists of 2 challenges:

  • Jufogi
  • Sosede

To open up a hidden path to this figure, we first need to activate an earthquake. Go to 19,29. You’ll see a few pillars here. Go to the pillar on the left and you can enter it via the middle, under it. Now follow the path until you drop into an area with a green background. There’s a hidden path in the middle on the right. Go through it and drop down to the next room. Now go left to the house and drop down again. Move through the buildings to the room on the right. At the room with only yellow windows visible, drop down towards the bottom 2 windows, to the next room. Through the buildings move to the bottom and to the right to the next room. Turn into a ball and go up via the wall, than immediately right and drop down into the next room. Drop down into the next room with the lava and go to the right. Jump all the way down and stand on the button to activate an earthquake. Now go all the way back.

Now go to 38,28. There’s a path that has been opened that leads to a room below you. Drop down this path and go to the right through a hidden path. Follow the path and you’ll get to the Mini Figure. Complete the 2 challenges to reach the La Vupene room.

Note: You can save after completing each challenge (and you’ll also need these save points for the Herioic Dance trophy) and leave the challenge room if you want. Be careful though. If you save at another point outside the Mini Figure, you’ll have to redo all the challenges.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/D11.jpg Falu Kohe (B) (H)

Complete the Figure.

This can be done in Chapter 3.

Note: Before starting the challenges on this Figure, please see the Mysterious Forest trophy first. Else you’ll have to replay 11 of these difficult challenges.

The Figure is hidden outside the map boundaries, underneath 37,30. The Figure consists of 15 challenges:

  • Gile Jyvy
  • Ba Gepehasy
  • Hevore 0
  • Lady Tufe
  • Govu Letahe
  • Teta Minu
  • Somy Luru
  • Vafo Byfu
  • Jejobo Redy
  • Fegely
  • Mofa Dabusu
  • Jobahifymo
  • Hevore 1
  • Soko Jyja
  • Vapame

To get to the Figure, go to 37,29. Turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:) to reach the platform above the acid pool. Turn into a ball again and use your speed boost. Hit the ground and bounce to the other side of the acid pool. Go to the next room and all the way on the right is a small pillar. Jump over it and on the left is a hidden path. Follow it to enter the Figure.

These challenges are the hardest obstacles in the game. This is probably where you’ll spend most of your time. Complete all challenges to reach the Falu Kohe room and obtain the trophy.

Note: You can save after completing each challenge (and you’ll also need these save points for the Herioic Dance trophy) and leave the challenge room if you want. Be careful though. If you save at another point outside the Figure, you’ll have to redo all the challenges.

Explore a beautiful forest.

This can be obtained in one of the Figure challenges. At the Jobahifymo challenge to be exact. Once you reach this challenge, pick up the green power up in the next room on you right. Wait for the green power up to respawn. Use your power up (:l1:) and grab another one. Now move back 2 rooms to the left and one room down. There’s a gap in the boundaries of this challenge. Go through it and move to the left and drop down. You should stand above the Mofa Dabusu room. Now walk all the way to the right and climb to the top of the wall on your right. Now jump to the left (turning into a ball after the jump helps with distance). You’ll drop down in a total black room. Now just keep walking to the left until you find Nicklas. Talk to him and he will teleport you to the forest.

(If you want to leave the forest, keep walking towards the right until you meet Nicklas again. He will teleport you back to the Mofa Dabusu challenge).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/989.jpg Shortcut Genius (B) (H)

Complete Chapter 3 without paying a single bell guard.

Note: You can combine this with the What She Longed For trophy if you want. You don’t have to, as it won’t really speed up the progress and it’s probably easier focusing on this trophy first.

In Chapter 3, you’ll have to ring 6 bells for you to complete this chapter. These bells are blocked by doors. In front of these doors, you’ll find Bell Guards. If you talk to them, they will ask you for artifacts, or if you don’t have enough of them, artifacts and coins. Do not give it to them. At the end of the conversation, choose No.

4 out of 6 bells require you to go through the Disorder. You can access the disorder by finding disorder portals (circles on the map). You’ll need to break a crystal to enter it. You can find crystals, or you can buy them at any of the 2 traders (‘T’ on the map):

  • Trader 1 (13,7)
    3 crystals for 9 coins
  • Trader 2 (26,15)
    6 crystals for 3 coins

To navigate through the Disorder, you’re best off using the Disorder map. You can find the Disorder map at 42,13. You don’t have to find this though, as this is a map you can’t even use and it's posted below. To reach it, go to 42,17, pick up the green power up. Wait for a new power up to spawn and use your power up (:l1:). Grab another green power up and move up. Once the first power up loses its power, use your second power up and reach the gap above you. The Disorder map looks like this:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8335719186_a416683d6f.jpg

The corners in this map correspond to the corners on your normal map. You’ll be able to find Disorder portals here. You don’t have to use these portals, but it’s easy to navigate like this. The boxed off rooms with a small entrance (not the rooms with an icon in it) are 4 hidden Disorder rooms that will transport you to the 4 bells. Each of these rooms has glowing glyphs. Stand on these and hold :triangle:. The 4 bells that require the Disorder are:

  • Bell 1/6 (35,20)
Go to the Disorder portal at 47,29. To reach the hidden room, use the portal and move 3 rooms to the left and 2 rooms up afterwards. The hidden path is on a small ledge in the upper right corner. You can reach it in ball form (:r1:) by jumping from the platform in the middle.
  • Bell 2/6 (0,7)
Go to the Disorder portal at 0,0. To reach it, go to 4,0 first. Grab the green power up and wait for another green power up to spawn, then use your green power up (:l1:) and grab the second one. Fly towards the left and when your green power up loses its power, quickly activate your second green power up. Now move to the left again and get to the ledge on the left. You don’t have to reach the ledge with the power up, you can go in the water on the left and turn into a ball to reach the ledge, the enemy won’t electrocute you. Now just keep walking to the left to reach the portal. To reach the hidden room, use the portal and move down 1 room, go 1 room to the right and 1 room down. Stand on the platform in the middle and turn into a ball. There’s a hidden path in the left corner. It can be tricky to hit with the ball.
  • Bell 3/6 (8,20)
Go to the Disorder portal at 0,29. To reach it, go to 0,24. Stand on the path where you can move to a room on your right. Don’t go there though, you’ll have to drop down on the very first ledge on the right. There’s a hidden path on the right of it. Go through it and go all the way down. To reach the hidden room, use the portal and go up 2 rooms. The hidden path is on the right pillar, on the left of it. Go climb the wall on the left and turn into a ball, use your speed boost and aim towards the pillar. Turn back to Mi at maximum height when close to the pillar.
  • Bell 4/6 (33,5)
Go to the Disorder portal at 42,17. To reach the hidden room, use the portal and go up 2 rooms. At the second room, don’t let go of the wall you used to get there. The hidden path is at the very end of this wall on your left, against the ceiling from the left path.

The following 2 bells don’t require the Disorder.

  • Bell 5/6 (6,1)
Go to 11,0. Below you is an area called Utopioca. You’ll have to use this area to reach the last bell. Before you can do so however, you’ll need 2 items first, else you can’t reach it. These items are:
    • Owl Mask
Find the Yoga Monster (pink squid) somewhere in Utopioca. Talk to him, than turn into a ball and talk to him again to receive it.
    • Wheel
Use the Utopioca entrance at 11,0. Drop all the way down and you should get transported to 34,11. From there go to 33,12 and start the quest there. You’ll be able to find the Wheel above you, at 33,11.

Once you’ve gotten these items, go to 11,0. Go down once and move all the way to the left to the bell.

    [*]Bell 6/6 (22,16)

For the last bell you actually need to talk to the Bell Guard. Don’t worry, you don’t pay him anything. He just requires all 5 other bells to be rang first. Once he opens the door, move to the last bell and ring it for the Chapter 3 ending and the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1859/FBF.jpg What She Longed For (S) (H)

Find the secret ending.

Note: To find the secret ending, you’ll have to ring all 6 bells, but you’ll have to find the Enigma before doing so. You can do this after the Shortcut Genius trophy (you’ll only have to ring the last bell again after reloading chapter 3), or you can combine it with that trophy. It won’t really speed up the progress and it’s probably easier focusing on one of these trophies at the time.

To get to the secret ending, you’ll have to find the Enigma. Before you can do so however, you’ll have to find 4 items (2 sphere and 2 triangles) first. The items you’ll need to find are:

  • Sun Triangle (16,6)
Go to 16,6. Go to the room on your left and find the hidden path in the gap in the middle of the room. Follow the path and it will lead you to the Sun Triangle.
  • Moon Triangle (18,5)
Go to 18,5. Pick up the yellow power up. Grab the wall on your right and turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:) to hit the diagonal ramp below you, from there aim for the diagonal ramp on the right and jump to the ledge above you. Quickly drop down, use your power up (:l1:) and grab the Moon Triangle.
  • Day Sphere (39,27)
Go to 39,28. Grab the green power up and wait for a second one to spawn. Use the power up (:l1:) and grab another green power up. Now fly to the room above you. Quickly use your second power up when the other one loses its power. Fly towards the Day Sphere.
  • Night Sphere (39,17)
There might be a door blocking the path to 38,17. To open it, you’ll have to complete Malie’s quests.
    • Malie’s first quest can be found at 36,18.
    • Malie’s second quest can be found at 29,20.
To reach this quest, go to 29,19. Stand on the button to power up the timer and to deactivate the green wall. Now quickly go to the room on your left. Grab the blue power up, turn into a ball (:r1:) and jump to the wall on the left. Now use the blue power up (:l1:) to reach the white power up. Once you’ve obtained the white power up, go back to where you came from to destroy the enemy with the white power up.

Now you’ll have to place these items in hidden rooms in the Disorder.

Once the first power up loses its power, use your second and reach the gap above you. The Disorder map looks like this:

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8364/8335719186_a416683d6f.jpg

The corners in this map correspond to the corners on your normal map. You’ll be able to find Disorder portals here. You don’t have to use these portals, but it’s easy to navigate. The rooms with icons correspond to the items you’ll have to place there (triangles and spheres). Each of these hidden rooms has a platform where you’ll have to stand (a circle will appear once you stand on the correct spot) and you’ll have to press :triangle: to place the item, which happens automatically. (After placing an item, use the Disorder transportation to your advantage to quickly get to the following Disorder portal). The items are placed as followed:

  • Sun Triangle
Go to the Disorder portal at 1,11. Go down 1 room and go 1 room to your left afterwards. There’s a path down to the next room. Don’t enter it, but stand on the left of it. Turn into a ball (:r1:) and use your speed boost (:cross:) to find the hidden path on the upper left of the room.
  • Moon Triangle
Go to the Disorder portal at 42,17. Go 1 room to the right. There’s a tower in the middle. Go stand on the right side of the tower. Either climb the tower or turn into a ball (:r1:), to reach the hidden path on the 3rd ledge on the right.
  • Day Sphere
Go to the Disorder portal at 22,1. Climb the pillar on your left. Turn into a ball (:r1:) and jump towards the small block hanging from the ceiling on your right. Jump to the second block and to the wall next to it and climb up to reach the hidden path.
  • Night Sphere
Go to the Disorder portal at 24,29. On the left there are a few blocks on the ground. The hidden path is between the small gap.

Once all these items have been placed in the hidden Disorder rooms, go to 42,13 (as mentioned above) and pick up the Enigma which has spawned there. Now ring all the 6 bells (or just the last one if you've done Shortcut Genius already). The secret ending will start after the normal ending.

Wow, this is one hell of a complete trophy guide, nice job man!

Really well detailed, read some trophies description (already got the 100% thanks to the General Trophy Discussion so I didn't read all of them), but the text is already full with everything needed, so those videos are the icing on the cake.

People who'll be using this guide are gonna get the 100% easily (except for that Figure part of course) :)

Great guide :D

I've been playing this game for some days and although very simple is quite challenging and fun to play.

I've already rung two bells by paying the guard and I have done a lot of quests already, to get the "Shortcut genius" trophy, I shouldn't have payed (I though that paying meant with coins, I didn't read it previously). Do you think it's easier to just finish the current playthrough and then make another one just for this trophy or should I just restart chapter 3 ?

Thanks

Restart Chapter 3. You've only rang 2 bells. You can go and ring all the other bells however you want, but you'll have to do all of it again, which can be time consuming because of the items and crystals/coins you'll need to collect.

Ohw, that's quite some progression. I would finish all the chapter 3 trophies and restart chapter 3 just for the bells. Since you're really enjoying the game, I don't think you would mind another playthrough of Chapter 3 ;)

Ok :) Will do.

Do I need to ring all the bells to obtain any of the other trophies ? Can I do the other trophies without ringing any other bell and then restart chapter 3 ?

One last question, how long does it take to do another playthrough just for the Shortcut Genius trophy ? Apart from crystals/coins do I need anything else ? A walkthrough for this trophy only would be nice, just in case, someone misses it - not asking for it nor requesting, just saying. You've done a great job already :)

Thank you so much.

The only other trophy that requires you to ring all 6 bells, is the What She Longed For trophy.

Apart from the crystals, you don't need anything else. Coins you don't need if you find enough crystals, but you can buy crystals with them if needed.

As for a walkthrough for that trophy.. What's more to add? Gave all the info needed and a video guide. The only other thing I could add is crystal/coin locations, but that requires me to go through chapter 3 once more and play for hours again just for a few crystals most will find on their own. If I knew beforehand, I would've written down every crystal/coin locations I had come across.

I didn't progress anything on the game, but I'd like to ask everyone who is playing the game, to keep track of which items you get on each point, so we could build a complete map of items :) I'll be doing it for the remaining of the items I come across, it would be nice if everyone could do the same.

Let's make this guide super complete :D

Thanks :)
