Introduction

Welcome to Jak II HD! Originally released as Jak II: Renegade in 2003 on the Playstation 2, this HD re-release gives you the chance to join Jak and Daxter on their second adventure in the series, which is set in the city of New Haven far into the future from the previous game. Having escaped from the evil Baron Praxis' facility with newfound Dark Eco abilities, Jak plans to seek revenge on the evil ruler with the help of the Underground, a rebel organisation opposed to the Baron’s tyranny.

Much like Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy HD, this trophy list is extremely limited. Essentially, you are simply finishing the game to earn all story-related trophies (the majority of the trophy list) and collecting Metal Head Skull Gems and Precursor Orbs. Note that depending on how you decide to collect the latter (legitimately or availing of the Orb Glitch), it can alter the difficulty and length of the (P) greatly. Should you decide to do it legitimately, there is a dangerous (P)-negating bug in the game you must be aware of, which will be detailed in Step 2 below.

Note that this guide is compatible with both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions of Jak II HD. Only one trophy is different for the Vita, which is Over Easy. See the special note in Step 1 and the trophy description below for extra details, as this trophy is missable on the Vita.

Walkthrough

Step 1 - Complete the game, collect 510 Metal Head Skull Gems and collect any Precursor Orbs you find, particularly the 7 missable Orbs in the Metal Head Nest.

The story of Jak II is mission-based unlike the platformer areas/hubs of The Precursor Legacy. Simply travel across the map to each mission location (designated by the character’s initial on the map, much like in the Grand Theft Auto games) and complete the missions. You don’t have to do them in an exact order dictated by the trophy list, but the next batch of missions won’t appear until all the current ones on the map are completed. By the end of the game you should have killed more than enough Metal Heads to have collected 510 Skull Gems, but if not there are infinite spawns post-game so you don’t need to worry too much. They are also cumulative, so you don’t have to have 510 in your inventory at once if you wish to purchase abilities from the Oracle.

If you are planning on doing the Orb Glitch, don’t worry about doing any side-missions and just pick up any Precursor Orbs you see lying around to lessen the grind later on. However, if you want to obtain all 286 legitimately, we’d recommend leaving them all (except for the 7 in the Metal Head Nest at the end of the game which are missable) until post-game. The lack of an efficient in-game tracking system means that you will likely forget where you picked up Orbs if you don't keep note, so it's easier to get them all after you have finished the story.

Special note for PlayStation Vita: The Vita version of Jak II has only one trophy which differs from the main PS3 list. This is Over Easy, which requires you to "Destroy Eggs at Drill Platform using the touchscreen" If you are playing this game on the Vita, please read the trophy description for Over Easy before attempting that mission.

Step 2 - Obtain all 286 Precursor Orbs

There are two ways to go about this step: using the Orb Glitch and legitimately:

Orb Glitch: This is the method we would highly recommend if you are looking to obtain the (P) as quickly as possible. Using it, you can obtain all 286 Orbs in less than an hour with hardly any effort, saving you as much as 15 hours and a lot of frustration. For a full explanation of this glitch, see (G) The Collectationator!

Legitimately: The much more challenging and time-consuming method is to collect all the Orbs dotted around the various areas and fnish all the side-missions. To keep track of which Orbs you have collected, please see SandeProElite’s Guide & Checklist.

Note that there is a serious glitch with the Precursor Orbs. When you complete a side-mission and receive the Orb reward, the game will autosave. If you immediately quit the game and load it back up again at a later time to resume playing, sometimes the game will not register the Orbs as being collected, but the side-mission will be complete. Therefore, as you are unable to repeat side-missions, those Orbs will never be obtainable. To fix this, make sure you manually save every time you complete a side-mission and want to quit the game. For further detail, please see this thread.

Whichever method you choose, by the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies and earned the Jak II HD (P)!

(B)

The Collector

(S)

The Collectivist

(G)

The Collectationator!

Trophy Guide

F80.jpg

Done Done Done (P)

For excellent and dedicated field work in the field of battle for completion.

As with every other Platinum, earn all the other trophies and this final one is yours!

7EE.jpg  Poor Kid (B)

Protect Kor and Kid

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission will begin as soon as you start the game.

Spoiler

As soon as you break out of the prison facility at the very beginning of the game, you will be introduced to Kor and a young child whom he deems very important. You will then be assaulted by Krimzon Guards and must protect Kor and the child from them. This is rather easy if you just utilise the basic melee attacks ( :square: for a punch, :circle: for a flurry attack), but eventually you'll be swarmed. Jak will automatically make use of his Dark Eco abilities and using this, you can end the attack quickly. The trophy will unlock after the following cutscene.

952.jpg  Dead and Gone (B)

Retrieve Banner from Dead Town

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

After meeting Torn from the Underground, you will be put through a small test before you can join the rebel militia. You must head to Dead Town and retrieve a flag atop a tall, wrecked building. Don't worry too much here as most of this mission is simply introducing you to the game's platforming mechanics, with a few enemies thrown in here and there. Nothing is too tricky until you get to the building itself, where multiple pathways upwards will crumble at your feet as you pass. If you fail to jump to the next platform it's an instant death so be careful when ascending the platforms. Approach the flag at the top and watch the following cutscene for the trophy.

E2A.jpg  Kaboom! (B)

Blow up Ammo at Fortress

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

Your next task for the Underground is to blow up a section of Baron Praxis' ammunition storage. The main thing to watch out for is the large vehicle that pursues you for the first half of the mission; it targets you as you run so make sure to dodge the bullets as they deal a dangerous amount of damage. If you're too slow it'll mow you down as well. Aside from a few Krimzon Guards here and there, there's nothing to worry about after that. Continue along the facility until you reach a story-related cutscene, after which the final part of the mission will follow. The vehicle will return and you must have it target four pipes on an explosive to ultimately destroy it. Simply stand in front of the pipes in plain sight of the vehicle's target and jump out of the way when it is just about to shoot. It can be tricky dodging in time but there's no time limit so feel free to employ trial-and-error. When the last is shot you have a short time to run to the exit before it explodes. Watch the following cutscene to earn the trophy.

C2C.jpg  Signature Moves (B)

Protect Sig at Pumping Station

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

After being introduced to Sig, an experienced soldier, you will head to the pumping station back in the slums to take out a few rowdy Metal Heads (this is the first mission whereby you can begin collecting Metal Head Gems, check (G) Head Master for details). This mission has quite a difficulty spike from the previous ones so make sure you use your newfound weapon wisely so that you don't die. Sig shall lead the way and numerous times will have to charge his Peace Maker to zap a Metal Head, when he's doing this make sure to protect him from other enemies as he has a health bar too. When he shoots the last Metal Head (and you suffer through a mini-ambush), you'll earn this trophy.

605.jpg  Turrets Syndrome (B)

Destroy Turrets in Sewers

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

Krew will ask you to destroy a few turrets in the city sewers. Head to the Red Sector and into the sewers. This mission follows a rather linear path and the turrets are impossible to miss so there's not much else to say besides making sure you time your dodges correctly. The turrets will spray a lot of bullets at you at once in quick succession so make sure to plan how you approach it correctly. When you destroy the last turret, the trophy will unlock.

82D.jpg  Stripped Down (B)

Rescue Vin at Strip Mine

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

In this mission you'll head to the Strip Mine, where you'll be returning multiple times during the story as well. This mission ends pretty quickly as you basically have to ascend the escalators ahead and take a ride on the following carts carrying mining equipment. Eventually you'll land yourself next to a small grove. In the house nearby is Vin, an important character in this game's story. Watch out for the Metal Heads at the start as the game throws them all at you at once, take note especially of the flying forms as the best way to dispose of them is to make them your priority and shoot them down quickly. After meeting Vin and teleporting back to Haven City, the trophy will unlock.

385.jpg  Over Easy (S)

Destroy Eggs at Drill Platform

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Vin.

Spoiler

For this mission you'll be heading to the Drill Platform, a massive area. Follow the relatively linear path (dodging the Metal Heads equipped with blades, simply make use of your shotgun to dispose of them in one go) and you'll eventually find yourself at a turret. Hop in and search around for round, greenish coloured eggs nestled into various spots in your surroundings. Shoot them down (make sure to get every one!) but watch out for the flying Metal Heads equipped with guns, who can deal damage to your turret. Don't shoot consecutively for too long either as you can potentially overheat the turret itself. If you find yourself missing a few eggs, check the small arrow outside your circular health bar to get an idea where the remaining ones are. When you're finished, continue along the newly-opened paths to the next turret and repeat the process until you finish off the last of the eggs and finally earn this trophy.

PlayStation Vita version:

Destroy Eggs at Drill Platform using the touchscreen.

This version of the trophy is for the PlayStation Vita version of Jak II HD only and is [MISSABLE]. On Vita, this version of the trophy replaces the one above on the trophy list and is identical except for the method of execution. A huge thank you goes to dmm121182 for providing this description.

Spoiler

You can still aim your turret gun with the analog sticks, but you cannot use the buttons to fire at all while shooting from the turret gun in this section. You have to tap the screen repetitively inside the aiming reticule to fire on enemies and to destroy the eggs.

If by some chance you do miss this trophy, once you collect 145 Precursor Orbs you can purchase "Replay Mission" from the Secrets menu. Once you've done this, you can select "Destroy Eggs at Drill Platform" and attempt this trophy as many times as required.

94E.jpg  Cha-ching (B)

Collect Money for Krew

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

Krew will send you on a quick mission to collect bags of money that his workers have dropped around the city. Simply follow the markers on your map rto the next money bag in the time limit and pick up the money. Of course, Krimzon Guards will eventually start following you, but don't bother fighting them. Simply keep going after the money bags to the last one and return to Krew to earn the trophy. You may have to hijack a hovercar as the one Krew supplies you with may be too weak to survive the whole mission.

84F.jpg  Lost and Found (S)

Find Pumping Station Patrol

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

Torn will have you return to the Pumping Station. Head the same way as you did for the pump but there'll be a few lifts activated which weren't working before. Take them up and follow the new path and eventually you'll find Ashelin, an important Underground member. After a short scene, you'll be ambushed by Metal Heads. Take them all out (using whichever guns you wish or simply break out Dark Jak if you want a fast win) and afterwards watch the story-related cutscene.

AA7.jpg  Just the Artifacts Ma'am (B)

Find 3 Artifacts in Mountain Temple

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Onin.

Spoiler

After meeting Onin, she'll ask you to find three artefacts in the Mountain Temple. Head to the marker on the map and progress into the mountains, and you'll find three paths you can follow. It doesn't matter which order you go in, but here are a few things you should look out for on each path:

  • Left Path: You'll encounter a shield-bearing Metal Head. Wait for it to lower the shield, then take it out. Another will appear soon after, but when you traverse to where he was the ground will break up and you'll need to make use of a few platforms. After that there'll be more platforming and baby Metal Head attacks, simply use your shotgun to take them out as usual, and pick up the left-behind Gems.
  • Middle Path: This path leads to a roofed structure. Follow the platforms outside one of the exits and you'll encounter a rhino Metal Head. Roll around the place, and when it roars, go crazy shooting it. Eventually you'll come across a high cliff with many rocks crashing down. You have to climb this summit whilst dodging the rocks. Traverse a little more and you'll finally find the artefact.
  • Right Path: There'll be a massive slew of baby Metal Heads which will attack you when you climb up the hill. Soon after you'll meet a Metal Head bearing a shield. Wait for it to lower the shield, then shoot him, he doesn't take long to kill. After a bit of platforming you'll come across a box puzzle in a Dark Eco pool; hit the boxes in the following order (assuming the other side is north):

Box 1: Front, Left, Front, Front, Left
Box 2: Left, Front, Front, Front, Left
Box 3: Front, Right, Right, Right, Front
Box 4: Front, Front, Right, Front, Front
Box 5: Front, Right, Front, Front, Right

At the end you will encounter another rhino Metal Head, and then you can collect the artefact.

99C.jpg  More Power to You (B)

Turn on 5 Power Switches

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Vin.

Spoiler

To reach Baron Praxis' tower you'll need to take out a few turrets guarding important switches, which will turn on the elevator to get there. An easy enough mission, simply head to each turret, dodging its bullets (they rarely point upward so feel free to approach in a flying car then jump down close to it) and pressing the button. Krimzon Guards might get on your tail so either get rid of the too-close-for-comfort guards or ignore them completely.

D10.jpg  Skip the Stairs (B)

Ride Elevator up to Palace

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is not given by any character in particular, but is the only one you can do at this point in time.

Spoiler

The trophy description is misleading. You need to use the elevator and pass the long bridge leading to the tower.

Directly after (B) More Power to You, you will have to embark on a journey across a danger-filled bridge to Baron Praxis' stronghold. When you come to the hot floor, don't try to use it. You can't jump past it, but you can use the platforming items on the side to bypass it. You'll be using these for the majority of your trek across this. Near the end there'll be a few turrets going in a circular motion; just jump off the bullets as you progress forward to dodge them. They turn off as soon as you pass them. The trophy will unlock soon after reaching the tower.

8D3.jpg  Don't Let Him Get Away (S)

Defeat Baron at Palace

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This is a continuation of the previous mission.

Spoiler

This battle can be tricky near the end, but the important thing to note is your health carries across all three stages (and there's no checkpoints), so if you die at one point, you go back to the beginning.

In the first stage, Praxis will simply shoot at you for a few seconds a time. Simply use your Blaster and shoot him down - it doesn't take long to whittle away at his health. When one third is gone, he'll change around his battle techniques: he'll shoot out missiles (you'll know where they land when you'll see the crosshairs on the floor), which can quickly and easily be dodged by rolling. In the short time afterwards, go crazy with the Blaster and you can knock off his health in no time.

The last form is the hardest of the bunch. Praxis ditches the long-distance attacks for a multitude of hard-hitting ones at a much closer distance. Firstly, he'll send a few red tornadoes after you. These inflict a lot of damage but they can be dodged simply by running as far away as you can, whereby they'll explode before reaching you. He can also try to ram you down with his vehicle which you can dodge nice and easily. Don't forget the health packs in the corner. When you finish him off, after the cutscene, you'll earn this trophy.

ECF.jpg  Scout's Honor (B)

Catch Scouts in Haven Forest

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Young Samos.

Spoiler

Going to Haven Forest, you'll have to catch this new form of Metal Head – dubbed as Scouts – using your JET-board. Simply search around the area (you will either see one in plain sight or the music will start, indicating one is very close by) and chase after them, their speed is a little less than yours so you easily catch up to them. Jak will automatically pounce for them and kill them. Repeat this for all five Scouts to finish the mission.

53D.jpg  Kersplash! (B)

Destroy Equipment at Dig

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

This mission can be quite difficult as the Krimzon Guards will constantly be throwing grenades at you. Therefore, make sure to pick them off with a gun of your choice as you pass them by to lessen the chances of you dying partway through. Head to the left once you enter the dig and you'll see a railway with support wires for the digger clipped on. All you must do is hop on your JET-board and grind along the rail. This will automatically break off the wires. Follow the linear-enough path from there on out and you'll soon find all of the support wires, at the end you'll get a call and the trophy will unlock during this.

621.jpg  Speeding Slowly (B)

Win Class 3 Race at Stadium

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Keira.

Spoiler

This trophy is rewarded for completing the Class 3 race. Please refer to (G) Speed Speedily for tips in racing.

B23.jpg  Strip Mine, Not Yours (B)

Blow up Strip Mine in Eco Wells

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Vin.

Spoiler

Vin will ask you to use a few bombs to blow up eco wells, but before the mission begins, Daxter will accidentally set off all the bombs. You now have a timer to finish the mission in just two minutes. Hop on your JET-board. There are four eco wells which are visible and easy to spot in the initial area, though there are two which are a little less obvious. For starters, head along the path you took to find Vin for the first time. One of the eco wells is here. The second is the most far out, you have to return to the entrance of the area by the teleporter, head to the right by the eco pool and cross it on your board, then follow the path by crossing a few crevices, to the last eco well. To actually throw the bomb into the well, build up a bit of speed approaching it (ducking on the board if you wish) then press :cross: just as you reach the highest you can go up the side of the well. Jak should automatically throw the bomb in. Since the final well takes a while to get to, it's best to have three (preferably four) wells destroyed before one minute has elapsed.

883.jpg  Sunken Ship (B)

Destroy Ship at Drill Platform

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Kor.

Spoiler

Right after (B) Strip Mine, Not Yours, Vin will give you another mission (and arguably the hardest mission in the game). Go through the portal and hop into the turret. This mission is essentially an on-rails shooter where you'll have to shoot down all the flying Krimzon Guards in your path. You have a set amount to kill at first and sometimes you'll be completely swarmed, making this mission a hassle. Nothing more can be said besides shoot, shoot, shoot. Don't overheat the turret or get hit too much. Make sure to have a bit of aim as well; about two or three seconds of shooting one mercenary downs them. You'll encounter a ship now. It's really nowhere near as tricky as the flying Krimzon Guards. All you must do is watch for where a turret or gunner will pop out and then shoot it before it shoots you. There are 8-10 turrets on this side of the ship to wait for. When you hit the last, it will fall downwards, but that's not all. You'll soon encounter the same ship again, but on the other side. The strategy is identical as before. When you hop out of the turret and return to Vin the trophy will unlock.

667.jpg  Clap Hands (S)

Get Seal Piece at Dig

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

You'll be returning to the dig site again for this mission. The majority of this mission will involve you finding five switches to raise a platform for you to progress to the Lurker totem. Simple exploration can help you find these. There is only one switch that could actually be trouble due to being in a hidden location. After using the blimp to get to the lower half of the area, go right to a small hut and the switch will be in one of the corners. The others are in quite obvious places. After jumping up this platform, traverse across the walkways, watching out for the spike balls and you'll eventually reach the Lurker totem. After the cutscene the trophy is yours.

486.jpg  Doggin' the Hellcats (B)

Destroy 5 Hellcat Cruisers

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

For this mission, you'll need to destroy five Hellcat Cruisers. They are extremely easy to spot; they're large, blue heavily-armoured flying vehicles with a blue Krimzon Guard inside. As soon as you shoot them though, they'll attempt to drive away, and the other Krimzon Guard patrols will chase you down. After destroying one, make sure to switch cars as you're bound to take quite a bit of damage. Using your Vulcan Barrel is best due to its quick rate of fire. Watch out for the turrets also. After destroying the final Hellcat, you'll earn the trophy.

554.jpg  No Man is a Canyon (B)

Use Items in No Man's Canyon

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Onin.

Spoiler

After playing Onin's rhythm mini-game, you'll have to return to the Mountain Temple and head to the door that uses the Seal of Mar. Now traverse down the fissures using your JET-board on the rails, and soon enough you'll come to a ruined area. After a short cutscene and a call with Pecker, you'll unlock the trophy.

17F.jpg  Testosterone (S)

Pass the Tests of Manhood

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is a continuation of the previous one.

Spoiler

For this trophy you must pass the Tests of Manhood in the Tomb of Mar. There are two tests to the left and right after you enter the tomb - whichever you do first is irrelevant. If you've played Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, you'll notice many similarities to the original game's final level. For tips on both tests, please read below.

Left Path:

  • The first room just consists of a little platforming to open the way to the next area.
  • You'll then play as Daxter running away from a boulder. At the end, a massive spider will then chase you, and the tactic is the same as before. You have little room for error when running away and can be killed if the boulder/spider catches up. Note that mini-spiders will attack you in the chase as well.
  • You'll take control of Jak again and have to do a little more platforming again. You'll find a button which will open one half of the door to progress in the story, and you'll meet with Daxter again.

Right Path:

  • Beetles will be displayed with a marking on their stomach - all beetles will turn over and you have to find the beetles with the marking. Hitting the right one will have them open the door. Hitting the wrong one will damage you.
  • There'll be a path with coloured squares. Pressing the button, certain squares will beep. Jump on them as they do so and continue along the beeping squares to the other side. If you fall on the incorrect one, the floor will crumble below you.
  • Many tombstones will be scattered around the room. Hitting one will play a short eerie tune. Find the matching tombstone in the room to complete the pair, repeat for all of them to finish this test.

582.jpg  Grin and Baron It (S)

Defeat Baron in Mar's Tomb

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is a continuation of the previous one.

Spoiler

Directly after earning the (S) Testosterone trophy, you'll fight Baron Praxis in the Tomb of Mar. He'll try to take the Precursor Stone for himself, and will eventually drain the powers from it to use in battle. The tactic for this battle is pretty simple: in phase one, when he has full health, he'll send robot spiders after you which you can easily dispose of with your Scattergun. You cannot punch them as they have an electrical charge. When Praxis sends out bombs, do not wait for them to explode. Run over to them and position yourself to punch them in Praxis' direction. Do this with as many bombs as you can before they explode over time. When you whittle away one third of his health, he'll start to destroy the platform you stand on. Hide behind the pillars to evade this. When he has one-third of health left he'll use the Precursor Stone's power to destroy the floor beneath you. Be wary of this as you continue with the battle. The strategy is the same - use the bombs to hit him. When the battle ends you'll earn this trophy.

B94.jpg  We're All Friends Here (B)

Rescue Friends at Fortress

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

You'll have to head to the fortress to rescue your friends. When you first enter, there'll be many Krimzon Guards on patrol. Use whatever means possible to dispose of them. A few are standing on pillars which have switches on them; you'll have to press all five to shut off an electric fence in the next room, the last being in said room. After this there'll be a few lock-on turrets; either jump over their laser or jump on the turret itself to get past it. Next you'll have to grind across a pipe, but two turrets will eventually aim at it. You can either wait for the perfect time when they're aiming away or just go across anyway and attempt to jump over their line of fire and land on the pipe again. From there on out there's a few Krimzon Guards to fight, and eventually you'll rescue your friends from prison cells.

0F7.jpg  Bot Bot Boom Boom (B)

Protect Hideout from Bomb Bots

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from both Samos’.

Spoiler

Three Bomb Bots are heading towards the Underground and it’s your job to stop them before they get there. You can approach the three in any order you wish, but it's probably best to get the two in the Red Sector first (due to them being close together) and the final one in the slums. Use either the Blaster or the Vulcan Fury as they're the best for the job, approach the Bomb Bot and shoot at it. With the latter weapon, you often damage it enough before it gets the chance to hit you. Just note that when its blue laser turns red, it’s about to attack. When it starts to beep and concave into its skeleton, move away quick as it's about to explode. Repeat for all Bomb Bots.

672.jpg  Speed Quicker (S)

Win Class 2 Race at Stadium

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Keira.

Spoiler

This trophy is rewarded for completing the Class 2 race, please refer to (G) Speed Speedily for tips in racing.

DFA.jpg  What's That Smell? (B)

Escort Men Through Sewers

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Krew.

Spoiler

For this mission you'll have to assist Jinx, Mog and Grim in getting to the Statue of Mar. There's nothing much you have to do for this mission as Jinx will lead the way. However, you will be attacked by a few groups of Metal Heads along the way. The only part to worry about is the Metal Head ambush at the end. Stand near the three men to make sure no Metal Heads get past you without knowing, and then use your Scattergun to keep fending them off. If you want to finish it up quickly, use Jak's Dark Bomb ability. Follow Jinx to the next area to find the statue.

Destroy Drill Platform Tower

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Kor.

Spoiler

Hop into the Titan Suit and bust down the door and take the elevator. Dodge the lasers in the next room (the Titan Suit can take a lot of damage though, mind you). What you need to do in this room might be a bit vague. Take the Titan Suit over to the elevator and leave it there. Hop out and go back to the unsteady platforms, and double jump up to the ledge. Do not try to do this with the Titan Suit. Dispose of the Metal Heads and hit the switch. This'll bring the Titan Suit up and you can continue onward. After a little platforming, destroy the switchboards in the next room and an alarm will go off. You only have a small bit of time before the facility explodes. You'll be cutting it close and have little room for error so get out quick.

12F.jpg  Speed Speedily (G)

Win Class 1 Race in Stadium

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Keira.

Spoiler

This trophy is rewarded for completing the Class 1 race. During the game you'll have to participate in races to be able to explore Baron Praxis' palace. Completing the Class 3 race early in the game earns you (B) Speeding Slowly, completing the Class 2 race halfway through the game earns you (S) Speed Quicker, and completing the Class 1 race championship earns you this trophy. It is the hardest of the three as not only will you face advanced A.I. but you'll be facing off against Erol as well. Thankfully this race holds a few shortcuts which can reduce the difficulty massively. Check the tips below for more details:

  • Use the boosts! You can hold a maximum of three at a time and when behind an opponent it can greatly help to get the upper hand. Choose when you use them wisely.
  • Make use of shortcuts! There are multiple shortcuts in the Class 3 race; them being:
    • One at the very start, at the beginning line, to the right. This can easily get you ahead of the competition in seconds.
    • The second is after you emerge from the tunnel, go right and you'll find the shortcut. These can end the race very quickly if you use them every time.

[*]Don't drive right away at the start of the race! This more so applies to the first race. All the other racers will move straight away and simply put get stuck together on the bend. If you just start accelerating a second or so after they start moving you can quickly pass out the whole group and take the lead.

[*]Don't be afraid to play dirty! The racers (including Erol) can actually die on the track if you so wish, so don't feel bad bashing into them a few times.

F17.jpg  I Heart Heart (B)

Get Heart of Mar in Weapons Lab

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Ashelin.

Spoiler

When you get the Black Security Pass from Ashelin, you'll go to the penultimate facility in the game, the Weapons Lab. This place can actually be pretty difficult due to extremely spaced-out checkpoints and powerful enemies. The platforming is pretty basic, but you'll be constantly assaulted by Krimzon Guards and Krimzon Guard robots. The latter can be a massive hassle if you don't know how to handle them right. Since you're usually bombarded by 4-6 at a time, here's how to deal with them. Equip the Scattergun, and simply use your flurry attack with the :circle: button if they approach you as a rolled-up ball. When they jump out and reveal themselves, go crazy with the gun to destroy them, it usually only takes one or two shots. Make sure to keep an eye on other KG robots as they can come up from behind and attack also.

7A5.jpg  Who Knew Krew Blew? (S)

Beat Krew in Weapons Lab

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is a continuation of the previous one.

Spoiler

This boss fight with Krew is actually rather easy when you know what to do. First he'll send out small electrical Krew doppelgangers. Use either the Blaster for the singular ones or the Scattergun for large groups for efficiency. When all are sorted, Krew will show himself, at which time you should go crazy trying to hit him (use the Peace Maker if you wish, but any gun works well besides the Scattergun). The whole battle repeats like that, except each time, more and more Krew doppelgangers will go after you, which can be easily disposed of. Krew will attempt to shoot you as well but this is easily dodged by rolling or simply running.

780.jpg  Finders Keepers (B)

Find Sig in Underport

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Tess.

Spoiler

Head to the towers near the Hip Hog Saloon, as marked on the map, and hop into the Titan Suit. Just a little bit of simple platforming here with the suit, make sure to top up the amount of air you have with the restorers scattered around the area. Your amount of air is displayed on the right of the screen. Watch out for squid Metal Heads, you can use your attack to hit them if you want but there's ultimately no point as they rarely approach you in time. There are also a few mines around the place which can deal major damage, so do your best to avoid them. When you finally get out of the suit and back onto dry land, roll over the large gap in the floor and you'll meet Sig again.

FBA.jpg  Heavy Distortion (B)

Attack the Metal Head Nest

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is obtained from Torn.

Spoiler

For this trophy you basically need to make your way to the final boss of the game. It will unlock as you begin the battle with him. To get here you need to head to the Metal Head Nest, the last area in the game, which you can reach after completing all other missions.

Just an important note here: There are 7 Precursor Orbs, and they are the only purely missable Orbs in the game. Once you beat the final boss, you cannot return to this area. Therefore, make sure to pick up all 7 Precursor Orbs here before continuing to the boss. Please refer to (G) The Collectationator! for further details.

4C8.jpg  Pedal to the Metal (G)

Destroy Metal Kor at Nest

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. This mission is a continuation of the previous one.

Spoiler

The best weapon to use for the duration of the final battle is the Blaster gun. For the majority of the first phase of the fight, Kor will implant eggs which will hatch the scorpion Metal Heads. Dispose of these as they're impossible to ignore. Whenever you get the chance, shoot at Kor to slowly chip off his health. Kor will shoot a laser at you periodically but a mixture of rolling and running easily evades this.

When the second phase begins (when one-third of his health is gone), all that will change is Kor will do a double laser attack now, and flying Metal Heads will attack as well as scorpion ones. Make sure to deal with the flying ones first as they're harder to evade.

The final phase switches things up a bit. Kor will crawl after you now on the ground and you'll no longer have to deal with other Metal Heads. He now has a triple laser attack and one other new move, where he'll send ripples of energy out towards you. Hopping over them easily evades this. He moves pretty quickly so look back every so often to shoot two or three bullets, and don't let him catch up or things can get nasty.

When you finish him off, after the final cutscene, you'll unlock the trophy. Congratulations for finishing the game!

Collect 510 Metal Head Skull Gems

The Metal Head Skull Gems are the shiny yellow gems that are located on the forehead of Metal Heads. To obtain one, you must kill the Metal Head carrying it by using your guns or your melee attacks. Upon killing the Metal Head, the Gem will bounce around the area and eventually settle until you pick it up.

If you kill all the Metal Heads you encounter, you will almost certainly obtain this trophy by the end of the game. Each unique Metal Head you come across only carries one Gem, so if you kill a large group, obtain their Skull Gems and then die, upon restarting the checkpoint they will no longer have a Gem on their head. However, if you kill a Metal Head but don’t get a chance to collect it before you die, that same Metal Head will have a Skull Gem again when you respawn.

Metal Head Skull Gems are used to buy Dark Jak powers from the Oracle. All the powers cost a total of 525, but only 510 are required for the trophy. The total of 510 is cumulative, so if you buy powers you won’t need 510 in your inventory for the trophy to unlock.

If you come to the end of the game and haven’t got 510 Gems, do not worry as once you complete the game every Metal Head you come across will have Skull Gems again. A particularly good post-game location to farm these if necessary is the Mountain Temple, as that is one of the few areas where lots of Baby Metal Heads (the easiest Metal Heads to kill) still spawn.

Collect 286 Precursor Orbs

[MISSABLE] This trophy is by far the most difficult and time-consuming in the game if done legitimately. You must collect all 286 Precursor Orbs in Haven City. 94 of these can be found lying around the different areas where you carry out missions. Of these, 7 of are located in the Metal Head Nest which is only accessible at the end of the story and not afterwards, making this missable. The other 192 are from completing the various side-missions around the city. The Gun Courses and Jet Board Challenges are particularly brutal and frustrating, and will likely take hours of practice before you complete them.

It is for this reason that we strongly suggest you make use of the Orb Glitch to dramatically reduce the amount of time necessary to collect all the Orbs. This glitch can be utilised in any of the Orb Hunt side-missions where you are required to find a Precursor Orb within a certain time limit; usually 20 seconds. Once the mission starts, get to the Orb as fast as you can (the :l1: + :cross: roll jump works best for this). When you reach it, jump above it and pause the game. Select “Restart Mission” and Jak will fall onto the Orb when the game is loading and you will hear a noise to indicate that you’ve collected it. However, because you restarted the mission, you will get another chance to get the Orb. Every time you do this, three Orbs will be added to your total. It is important that you make 2 new saves every 3 or 4 times you use this glitch, as it is very easy to get your timing wrong and if you end up collecting the orb before you can pause and restart, the game will autosave and the mission will be unavailable to you. You must make 2 saves as if you collect the Orb by mistake, the game will autosave over your initial manual save.

The following is a video demonstrating this method, courtesy of STARKILLER1138THX:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDzP86wXG7Y]Jak II Infinite Orb Glitch - PS3 - YouTube[/ame]

You can get 6 Orbs per minute using this method, so it will take you no time at all to obtain 286, particularly if you collected any miscellaneous Orbs you came across during the main story.

You can of course earn the 286 Orbs legitimately. To help you, you can use SanderProElite’s Precursor Orb Guide & Checklist to help you find them all. The Precursor Orbs break down as follows:

  • 94 - Found in mission areas
  • 72 - Underground Missions (Orb Hunts/Ring Challenges/Special Missions)
  • 54 - Stadium Races
  • 36 - Gun Courses
  • 18 - Street Races
  • 9 - Jet Board Challenges
  • 3 - Onin Mini-game

Beware though, that there is a particularly nasty glitch which can prevent you from obtaining all the Orbs. When the game autosaves after you finish a side-mission for an Orb, sometimes the game registers you as having completed the side mission, but not as obtaining the Orb reward once you load it back up again. If you quit out and load the game up from the autosave there's a good chance you will be unable to collect all the Orbs as the side-missions are not repeatable, so to make sure this doesn’t happen you should manually save every time you complete a side-mission. Sadly, this isn't the completed guide (although it'd be awesome if it was), so please refrain from commenting until everything is edited in and I edit this post to "open" the guide :)

P.S. I wish there was a "completely random thread" where shit like this could be for real
