Introduction:

 

Jak 3 is a lot harder than the original, but if you have played Jak 2, you won’t have too much trouble. Jak and Daxter are back! This time they have been exiled and left for dead in the middle of the desert. They have to fight for their survival. And when the world is threatened again, they will have to choose whether or not to help the ones who exiled them to begin with…

 

 

Step 1 (New Game):

 

Play through the main story. Don’t worry too about collecting precursor orbs. Simply enjoy yourself and don’t worry about collecting anything, you can come back and do everything later.

Catch Kanga-Rats

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Jump on the Leaper Lizards that are situated throughout the city. There is one just as you exit the arena at the start. Run around and chase down the Kanga-Rats, which appear as red flashing dots on your mini-map. When you get close behind one, press :square: to attack (peck) and catch it.

Beat Kleiver in Desert Race

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Come first in the Desert Race. This will be the first race that you have to do, the first time you leave the city. You will be using the Tough Puppy vehicle, the first car you get at the start. There are red boosts along the track that you can pick up, then use for an extra boost (:r2:). You can jump by pressing :l1:, you will need this to collect many of the boosts. You can hold up to three boosts at a time, so don’t feel like you have to use them. I suggest using boosts by the sand pits near the end of the lap, if you boost you can clear them in a single jump each. As long as the AI doesn’t screw you up by flipping your car or simply stopping in the lane in front of you, this race shouldn’t be too difficult.

Race for Artifacts

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

When you head back to the city, after the race, you will be tasked with collecting artifacts. Take the Tough Puppy out and head towards the green markers on the map. You will be on a timer until the sandstorm hits, the timer will increase after you grab each artifact. Simply grab them all, avoiding the enemy vehicles, and head back to base. Don’t worry, the base is listed as a marker as well, and you should have plenty of time to get back. I personally had 20 seconds remaining of the minute they gave me to get back. After you talk to the chief and get an armour mod, you will get this trophy.

Destroy Metal Head Beasts

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will be given access to the Sand Shark vehicle. It has the ability to shoot bullets (:r1:), which will be utilized a lot in this trophy. You are sent out into the desert to defeat 4 Metal Head Beasts, which can be found by following the green dots on your map. Once you have found one, simply shoot at it until it falls over. If you are driving behind one, be careful of the bombs they toss behind them. If you are driving straight at one, be careful, as it will likely knock you flying back. This isn’t really a big deal, just rather annoying. Defeat all 4 and watch the cutscene to get this trophy.

Corral Wild Leapers

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Once you are given this mission, drive out to the new marker on your map. Once you get there, you will see Wild Leapers running around, and a corral set up in the middle of the area. Drive up behind a Leaper, and Daxter will jump onto it, giving you control over it. Drive the Leaper into the corral, but make sure not to run into anything, as that will cause you to fail and have to try again. This includes the green grass growing all around the area, don’t run into that stuff. Once you have corralled a Leaper, it will stay in the pen, even if you screw up on a later Leaper. Once 3 Leapers are in the pen, you will see a cutscene and get this trophy.

Rescue Wastelanders

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

This mission is very much like Art or Facts?. You will be sent out into the desert to pick up Wastelanders, and then bring them to a transport ship. You have to stop at each of the checkmarks, one to allow the Wastelanders to enter your vehicle, one to allow them to get out. You will be given extra time after dropping off each Wastelander. After you have dropped off 3, you will be given 4 minutes, and sent to a remote part of the desert. There you will have a boss fight. Avoid the laser beams while the alien-boss thing is in the air, then when it is on the ground, avoid the tentacles while shooting or punching it. After a couple hits the boss should be destroyed, without too much trouble. After it is destroyed, jump back in your vehicle and drive back to base. You should have around 2 minutes for this trip, and it took me a minute and a half, so you have plenty of time as long as you avoid being flipped by the enemy cars.

Hang Glide to Volcano

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Use the Dune Hopper to get to this location. You will need it and its high jump (Hold :l1:) to get to this area. Once there, get off the Hopper and head up the platforms, jumping and spinning up to the top of the tower. At the top, you will find a hang glider, which you will then use. Glide through each of the rings to give yourself a speed boost. If one of the rings is unopened, shoot it (:r1:) to open it before gliding through. Make sure to hit the purple clouds, as they raise you up as well. Glide through all of the rings, and when you land in the cave, you will get this trophy.

Defeat Marauders in Arena

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You are back in the arena for this fight. This time, you are against 30 enemies, though when you reach 1 remaining there will be a cutscene, so you really only need to defeat 29. When the lava starts bubbling, this time you will have to jump to the platforms that rise out of the lava to avoid taking damage. Simply defeat the 29 enemies without dying, watch the cutscene, and get this trophy.

Destroy Eggs in Nest

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

This will be the first quest which you use the Gila Stomper vehicle for. Drive over to the marker and head inside the cave. Just drive through the cave till you get to the Eggs, which will appear on your map, then destroy each by shooting at them. After you destroy them all, you will receive this trophy.

Defend Ashelin at Oasis

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Go meet Ashelin by the Oasis. Once there, you will be attacked. Defeat all 50 marauders, and then destroy their vehicles, without letting Ashelin die. After defeating them all, and then talking to Ashelin again, you will receive this trophy.

Travel through Catacomb Subrails

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Head back to the temple where you learned your first White Eco Power. Head back up the tower; you will learn how to slow time along the way. When you get through, you will reach a hover craft of sorts. Use the hovercraft to go through the Subrails. Try not to collide with anything, you can destroy most obstacles by shooting them (:r1:). Avoid the holes, if you hit them you will explode. Make it to the other side of the Subrails for this trophy.

Explore Eco Mine

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

After making it through the Subrails, progress through the Eco Mine. There are several instances where you will need to shoot a bridge to lower it, and near the end there are a few times there you will have to melee attack a fox-like creature into a hamster-wheel type contraption before you can progress. At the end of this area, you will find Leg Armour, granting you this trophy.

6B0.jpg Bombs on a Train (B)

Escort Bomb Train

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Just after you leave the Eco Mine, you will be tasked with escorting a Bomb Train. Run ahead of it and shoot all of the track switches to lower the rails so that the cart can go along till the end. Once you have lowered the last track, you watch a cutscene then get this trophy.

Defeat Veger's Precursor Robot

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

This will be a boss fight against a giant robot. To defeat him, follow the steps below:

1. Jump to avoid the ripple blasts of energy.

2. Jump to avoid the horizontal beam of energy.

3. Kill the Lurkers he sends.

4. Wait till he creates five beams of energy on the ground. These will rise into pillars. Do not touch them until they have cooled.

5. After they have cooled, jump onto one of the higher pillars and shoot the rail cars that are hovering above him. A couple shots will knock one down onto him.

6. Repeat steps 1-5 three times to defeat him. Be careful, the final time he attacks much faster with the beams of energy.

If your health gets low, use :l2: + :triangle: to regenerate.

Reach Port via Sewer

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Make your way through the Sewers under the city. This will be just after you talk to the Green Sage, and you will be told that you cannot get into the city the normal way, and will have to go around. You will need to make use of your Jet Board (:r2:) and obviously defeat a bunch of enemies. Don’t get sucked in by the whirlpools, as they will kill you. You will come across fans that you will need to shoot to destroy before you can progress. Once you come out the other side, you will get this trophy.

Destroy Incoming Blast Bots

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Just after you enter Port City, you will be given a mission to destroy incoming Blast Bots. You will have to destroy them before they reach the house that you start at. I suggest using your Vulcan Fury or Arc Wielder guns, ammo for them will be plentiful, and they are effective at dealing a lot of damage to a single source. You will have to go to the side that shows two Blast Bots on the map, destroy the first one, then head back to the other side, destroy the lone one, then destroy the last. That way they won’t get close enough to your base of operations to concern you too much.

Destroy Sniper Cannons

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

After riding the missile as Daxter, you will have a couple of short traveling missions, and then you will be sent to destroy the Sniper Cannons. Go to the markers on your map, and go up the ramps. When your camera is changed, walk along the ramp till you get to the red buttons, then push them in by doing a dive attack (:cross: + :square:). The number you need to hit will be shown in the top of the screen. Once you have pushed all of the buttons, shoot the control panel that rises from the blue circular panel in the ground. This will destroy the Sniper Cannon. Do this for each cannon. Unfortunately, if you die at any point during this mission, you will have to do it all over again. When you destroy them all, you will get this trophy.

Reach Metal Head Area via Sewer

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Travel through another sewer. This time you will have to defeat a bunch of enemies, but there isn’t anything difficult there. Once you get through to Metal Head Area, this trophy will pop.

 

 

AA0.jpg Tanks for the Mammaries (B)

Destroy Dark Eco Tanks

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

In the swamp, use your Jet Board to cross the plant stems by grinding (:square:), and utilize the buds that shoot out steam, stepping on them when you are off your Jet Board will send you flying over to the next area. Make your way up to the Dark Eco Tanks and destroy each with any attack. Once you have destroyed all five, you will be told to go to the end of the area. Head over there, see the cutscene, get a new Dark Eco Power, and this trophy will pop.

Kill Dark Plants in Forest

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Once you get to the Forest, use your Jet Board to jet over the Green Eco vents and absorb the Eco. Use it to destroy all the Dark Plants by flying over them while you are empowered with Green Eco. There are regular vents throughout the Forest to replenish your Green Eco. After you have gotten them all, head over to the platforms that appeared. After the cutscene, you will get shoulder armour. Jump off the platform onto your Jet Board, and the platform will rise up, and you will get this trophy.

Hijack Eco Vehicle

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

After you have destroyed the Eco Grid with Jinx, you will be given this mission. Hijack the Eco Vehicle by simply jumping onto it, and then drive as fast as you can. Missiles will be launched after you, keep in front of them by not colliding with anything. This is done far easier by staying in the air (change altitude with :r2:). After you have gotten to the main area, some markers will appear on your map. Drive towards the markers and you will see what appears to be a blue circular button floating in the water. Shoot each before you get there, and if you shoot it early enough to give it time to rise, then a missile will break off from following you and destroy the target. When you have raised all the targets and only one missile is following you, head to the location shown on your map. When you get there, you will have a cutscene, then this trophy will pop.

Defend Port from Attack

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will be sent to defend Port from the invaders. You will be put in an overhead view, and will just be defeating all the enemies. You will have unlimited ammo with the base gun, and guns will appear as you go that you can pick up for limited ammo with them. The only difficult part of this is the third wave in which you have to protect some townsfolk. Only one of them has to survive, but they die fairly easily, so be quick about killing the enemies. Once you have defended all the areas, you will receive this trophy.

Race for More Artifacts

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

For this mission you will have to head back to the desert. From there, take out the Sand Shark to start this mission (or simply walk around in the garage, that is how it started for me). You will again be racing to collect all the artifacts before the time runs out. The time is not cumulative, you will get the same amount of time to get to the second beacon whether you reach the first one with 10 or 1 second on the clock. Be careful, as there is a chance that you may simply die during this race, since there are so many enemies attacking you. After you have gotten all the artifacts and made it back to the city, you will receive this trophy.

Destroy Metal-pedes in Nest

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Head out to the marker in the desert. You can take any vehicle to get there; you will be switching vehicles when you start the mission. Once you are there, jump in the other car and head into the cave. Use your mini-map to locate and destroy each of the five Metal-Pedes. If you are having trouble, remember you can use :l2: to look and shoot behind you. After you have destroyed all five Metal-Pedes, head out of the cave. When you reach the exit, there will be a cutscene, and then you will receive this trophy.

3DE.jpg Gate Crasher Masher (B)

Defend Spargus' Front Gate

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will be tasked with keeping the city safe by destroying the assaulters. Head to the garage and choose which car you want to defend the city with, then head out the gates. There will be many smaller cars driving around – ignore them. Simply focus on destroying the bigger cars. There will be a countdown in the top right that allows you to track your progress. The city’s health will be shown in the top left – don’t worry about it too much; I still had around 80% life left when I cleared it. After you have defeated all 13 vehicles, you will receive this trophy.

Take Out Marauder Stronghold

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Head out to the marker in the desert again, to the Marauder Stronghold. You will need to use the Dune Hopper to cross to the Stronghold. Once inside, you have to fight 60 enemies, while avoiding the flaming boulders that the catapults are pelting you with. There will be a red mark on the ground warning you of an incoming boulder, stay away from them. After the boulders land, they explode, dealing damage in a small radius, so steer well clear. After you defeat them, you will have to chase down 4 marauders in cars. You will have 45 seconds to catch up to the first one, and 60 seconds for each additional one you catch. After you have caught and destroyed all 4, you will receive this trophy.

Break Barrier with Blast Bot

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

As soon as you take this mission, you will be transported inside the Blast Bot. Walk the Blast Bot towards the marker on your map, destroying the enemies you come across with the normal shoot button (:r2:). When you get to the final marker, there will be a cutscene in which the Barrier is destroyed. Afterwards, you will get this trophy.

Defend HQ from Attack

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Once you get this mission, you will be sent outside where floating bases are attacking the Headquarters. You will have to destroy the power cells on each corner of each floating base to destroy it. There will be three floating bases in all. After you destroy the last

Find Switch in Sewers

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

As soon as you receive this mission, you will be sent back into the sewers. Make your way through the sewer, defeating the enemies and dodging laser beams. Once you get to the other side, approach the switch. There will be a cutscene. Then ride the elevator back to the surface and you will get this trophy.

Destroy War Factory Defenses

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will be piloting an aircraft around a flying citadel. At first, your mission will be to destroy a number of beacons. I am unsure as to the exact number you are supposed to destroy, as it fluctuates as you are going (it increased at one point for me, so I am unsure of the exact number). You can destroy them by shooting them (:r1:), running into them, or shooting a bomb (:l1:). You have a limited number of bombs, so don’t waste them. Once you have destroyed all the beacons, you will be tasked with destroying 4 silos. You can destroy them by shooting or bombing them. After they are destroyed, there will be a cutscene, and then you will receive this trophy.

Beat Cyber-Errol Boss

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will face this boss after blasting through the flying citadel. Here are the steps to defeat this boss:

1. He will throw bombs at you; simply dodge them, very simple.

2. Enemies will come out, defeat them all.

3. When the spinning floating things come out, shoot the one that is below where the boss is hiding. If you hit the right one, it will fly up into the air and hurt the boss.

4. After the first time you damage him, the bombs he throws will have a shockwave; jump just before they hit the ground. He will also throw a bomb that scatters, that one will take out the platforms below you, though the bombs he throws after the scatter won’t have a shockwave.

5. Repeat the steps above, simply using step 4 instead of step 1 for all the waves after the first. After you have damaged him 4 times, he will be defeated. Watch the cutscenes and get your trophy.

Rescue Seem at Temple

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

This will be just after you learn the Light Jak power of flight. Use the flight power to cross the platforms to the right by timing multiple flaps at the peak of your trajectory. Head through the opening in the right of the room, and then jump over to the bridge, then to the lone pillar you can reach going forwards, then up to the next pillar. Here, it will appear that you can jump down to the left. DO NOT DO SO. That is a dead end and will simply force you to kill yourself. Instead, jump to the pillar to the east, then north, then west. At this point, you should be on the tallest pillar. Face north and you will see that you can jump up to a platform at the very top edge of the room. Do so for a cutscene and this trophy.

Defend Spargus from Attack

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will be using the turret in Spargus for this mission. Your goal will be to defeat all the invaders without being destroyed by their bombs. This will be tricky; you will have to tank some shots so that you are able to destroy the robots. Each robot will have 5 areas that need to be shot several times before the robot is destroyed. These areas will be marked by faint red targets, and will disappear after you have done enough damage. Make sure you don’t get hit by too many of the bombs they shoot at you, or you will be destroyed. After you have defeated all the robots in the ocean, you will have to defeat 3 inside the city. Once that is complete, you will receive this trophy.

Activate Astro-Viewer in Forest

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Once back in the Forest, you will be tasked with destroying 9 Dark Eco Plants. Simply jump in the closest turret, after shooting its previous owner off, and destroy the plants by shooting at them. Careful not to die from attacks by the enemies the plants spawn. Each turret can see, and destroy, 3 plants. Don’t worry too much, if you fail at any point, you will only have to repeat the last turret that you are on, the previous ones save. After you have defeated all 9, head up to the top of the Precursor platform and watch the cutscene for this trophy.

 

3A1.jpg Shields are Down (B)

Destroy Dark Ship Shield

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will have to control a robot to do this part of the mission. The controls are: :square: to attack, :circle: to shield, :r1: to lift objects. In the first room, defeat all the enemies and the door will open. In the next few rooms, use your attack to punch bombs into breakable objects, including doors and Dark Eco Matter. In the final room, there will be a bomb generator in the middle, and a large Dark Eco Mass at one end of the room. Keep punching bombs at it, after you destroy all of the objects flying around it, it will be destroyed and you will receive this trophy.

Destroy Metal Head Tower

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

This is a very simple defeat-all-enemies mission. Just defeat everything that comes at you and progress up the tower through the platforms that appear. When you get to the top, there will be a cutscene, and then you will receive this trophy.

Reach Catacombs via Palace Ruins

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will have to make your way through the Palace Ruins. To do this, you will have to make use of both Light and Dark Eco powers, as well as the Jet Board. Be careful of the many enemies, and make sure you don’t fall into any pits, and this should be fairly easy. Get to the other side and enter the vehicle for this trophy.

Break through Ruins

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

Use the vehicle in the Catacombs to progress. You will have to break through a few walls using turbo (:r2:), and destroy several generators by running into them. You can also lower bridges by running into them. You can jump by pressing :l1:. Once you destroy all of the barriers and exit the Ruins, you will receive this trophy.

Destroy Dark Ship

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will find yourself back in the ship that you were in for Shields are Down. Clear it within the time limit, nothing should be overly difficult, just progress linearly. Once you get to the portal at the end, this trophy will pop.

Destroy Final Boss

 

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will start off in the Sand Shark and will be directed to destroy 14 nodes. They can be found on the legs of the walker as he moves. Drive around and destroy all 14. I found that having the secret upgrade that gives vehicles extra armour was extremely helpful. Once you have destroyed all 14, you will find yourself on the beast itself. Head up to the open area up top. Once you get there, the boss will appear.

1. Enemies and tentacles will appear. Destroy the tentacles, the enemies will respawn regardless.

2. Once you have destroyed the tentacles, the boss will fire a laser which will follow you around – just keep moving and you won’t be damaged.

3. The boss will then sweep its head, and the beam, across the platform. At this point it can be damaged, so shoot it with any weapon, and it will take a large chunk of health.

4. The boss will then smash the ground with its head. This is very damaging, attempt to avoid it.

5. Repeat these steps 4 times and you win the fight!

Tip: if you are having trouble defeating this boss, keep in mind that while the boss is vulnerable, a Light Eco vent appears on the right side of the area which you can use to heal yourself.

Metal Head Skull Gems can be obtained by defeating enemies. There are a couple that will spawn in crates, but most of the ones you earn will be from killing enemies. There are a few areas that you can simply farm monster that continue to respawn and drop a Gem every time they are defeated. There is a great area just after the Bot Boss (right after the Eco Mine) where a group of small, easy to defeat monsters spawns continuously, and around half of them drop Skull Gems each time you defeat them. Personally, I stayed there for around ten minutes and farmed a couple hundred Gems, just to get it out of the way. This trophy is cumulative, so feel free to spend as many Gems as you want.

Precursor Orbs are unnecessary items in Jak 3. They are only used to unlock bonus content from the start menu. There are exactly 600, so to get this trophy, you will have to collect them all. This will take an extremely long time. There are a couple ways you can get orbs, but it basically comes down to finding them or doing some type of quest to get them. It isn't my guide, it was someone else's. I will go through it and make sure it has them all listed. If you are right, I will edit it appropriately, thanks for the heads up.

 

There are cheats in the game such as invincibility and infinite eco powers. Not sure if they disable trophies.

 

Technically you are right, but I don't believe they are listed as cheats, since they are built into the gameplay. I will add that in though, thanks.

Nice guides for all 3 of the Jak games. I remember playing Jak II and III when they first came out and they were the hardest games I had ever beaten at that point. Beating Jak II for the first time felt like such an accomplishment :)

I'm relieved this game isn't as frustrating as Jak 2. This game also has some challenging stuff but the checkpoints make up for it and makes the story a cakewalk if you got the plat in Jak 2. Also, this game is ok to do without the orb-glitch.

Jak 3 is harder than Jak II? I just finish Jak II, isn't an impossible game but some parts are annoying, is Jak 3 harder?

 

Jak II is the hardest of the three. The only overly difficult part of Jak 3 is the orb challenges, and that is only if you are going for the plat. If you just want to beat the story, there is nothing too hard.

Hey, nice guide. I was orb hunting and I went into the place I believe is called Palace Ruins? (Where the stadium was etc, is what i mean just incase I am wrong). I cannot seem to get out when i reach the end there's no where else to go, and if i go backwards I cannot get up the three broken slab steps as they break. Help guys?

I have the trilogy, and I'm going to play through Jak 2 after I finish up Jak & Daxter, but I just dropped by to say that I

 

HATE

 

that alphabetically speaking, the trophy list order goes Jak 3, THEN Jak & Daxter, and then Jak 2.

 

Same shit with Assassin's Creed.
