Perfect Defence Help!!!

Recommended Posts

Go to Training.

I don't mean the tutorials, but the quick mission builder-thing where you can choose your aircraft and the amount of enemy aircraft and some other settings.

Choose these settings:

Difficulty level: Arcade or Realistic

Anti-Aircraft artillery: None

Situation: Equal altitude

Aircaft: Anything with a rear gunner, I prefer the IL-2M, since it has good armour.

Number of enemies: 16

Enemy aircraft: Ju 87 B-2

Enemy skill level: Rookie

Time limit: Unlimited

Fuel and ammo: Unlimited

The other settings don't really matter.

Once the mission starts, slow down your aircraft and then switch to the gunner position. You don't need to move the aircraft, just wait for the Ju 87's to come at you. They should come and attack you one after the other, nicely lined up behind each other, making them very easy targets.

They will shoot at you, but since their enemy skill level is set to Rookie, they won't be hitting much. And if you picked the IL-2M, you have a lot of armour.

Once you killed them all (some might have flown away instead of attacking you, but nevermind those), quit the mission and restart if necessary. :)

Thanks Aruberikku. Awesome answer there!! Really appreciated!

I was going to start yet another thread, but I may as well ask you here. I seem to be having trouble on the Escort single mission. In my most rescent attempt I shot down 10 enimies in 4minutes 40seconds and still apparently ran out of time?!?! No matter what I do it just says the same thing. And I haven't even tried it on limited fuel and ammo yet so any advice here would be great.

Cheers

It's been some time since I've played that mission, so I replayed it on several difficulties to see how the mission was again.

And the most important hint I can give you, is that "Escort" is one of those missions that you want to play on simulator difficulties. (Pretty much any mission where you have to protect friendly planes are a lot easier on simulator.)

Arcade is meant to give you action packed dogfights with lots of planes in the air, while simulator gives you a realistic amount of aircraft. So on arcade difficulty, when you have to defend other aircraft, you basically get overloaded with enemy planes and you won't be able to keep up with them (and with limited ammo you certainly won't).

When you play on simulator, you get about 10 enemy aircraft total in the entire mission. On top of that your wingmen seem to get better at their job and even the bombers that you need to protect will protect themselves really well.

Apart from the difficulty I could tell you to always keep your friendlies in sight and only attack enemy planes that are attacking your friendlies. Don't follow them if they dive or turn away. Instead attack the other enemy aircraft that are threatening your friendlies.

Since you will need to fly this mission with limited ammo, it's best to only shoot when you're at close range and you're sure you will hit your target. And always fire in short bursts and check that you're actually hitting the enemy.

Hope this helps, sorry for all the text hehe :D
