Here are my timestamps:

01. Graveyard: 00:15:15
02. Windmill: 00:20:58
03. Stone Pillar: 00:26:12
04. East Arena: 00:31:18
05. East Arena: 00:38:36
06. Waterfall: 00:45:20
07. Gondola: 00:53:33
08. West Idol Stairs: 01:03:18
09. Main Gate: 01:12:58
10. Sandy Beach (Final Time): 01:44:52

I'm pretty chuffed, but it took a long, long time replaying each save to get the time right down. I love this game.

I'm pretty sure my time on NG+ was 1hr 59mins! Got the trophy and the platinum!

I had made a save at the waterfall at 56mins, before I got the shining sword and then played through and got the watermelon ending as well, and I think my time for that was 2hr 2mins. So I just replayed before getting the shining sword, and that thankfully cut down my time

My save at the main gate was 1hr 26mins 52secs, didn't make any mistakes on the way to the main hall, and there's no real way to speed up the fight with the shadows, but thankfully none of them glitched and got caught against one of the pods (which happened on my first playthrough).

Hey, I have a couple of quick questions for you guys that have beat the game in under 2 hours:

First, when did you fight the shadows and when did you run away from them? Were there any times that stick out in your mind that you tried to run away, and you got screwed over?

And second, do cut-scenes contribute to overall time? Since this will be my second playthrough, I wanted to see what Yorda actually says ... but if it ruins my speed run, I would rather play through the game a third, more leisurely time.

@dmsdq To answer your first question, it is best to run away from all battles if possible, especially if there are any statues that Yorda can activate to instantly kill all of the shadows. There are some battles that you will have to fight the shadows, but don't be afraid to use any Youtube videos to help you get through some tough spots, and maybe you'll learn a new trick or two.

As for your second question, yes cutscenes does contribute to the overall time.

Ah, thank you. =) I want to try avoiding Youtube for a little while, but it is nice knowing that it's there if I end up wanting to chuck Yorda off a cliff. =P

I have a Main Gate Save at 1:28:11, so I'm praying that my final section goes like this guy's. xD I'm cutting it waaaay too close for comfort. That last shadow section better not give me any beef. Dx

[EDIT]

Le sigh. After gunning it through the final section without missing a single jump, I beat the game. But I didn't make it within two hours. So I'm just loading up an older save and working with that. It seems like the average time to shoot for is 1:21ish, so hopefully I can shave off my extra seven minutes after the piston jump/water wheel section. =/

I may have just got the record for the tightest (read : worst) qualifying time for Castle Guide yet. My final time was 02:00:08 - apparently 8 seconds over!

I guess the trophy must be checked must before the save - perhaps when the FIN titleboard shows? Either that or it's rounding down - or the game took pity on me.

My main gate save was 01:23:30. I mucked up the cogs section several times, so I knew it was tight, and was very happy to see the trophy pop. Then I saw the final time

My timestamps

01: Graveyard 15:57
02: Windmill 23:37
03: Stone Pillar 29:23
04: East Arena (arrive) 35:10
05: East Arena (leave) 42:47
06: Waterfall 50:23
07: Gondola 01:00:26
08: Water Tower 01:03:51
09: West Idol Stairs 01:11:31
10: Main Gate 01:23:30
11: Sandy Beach 02:00:08 (!)

Man, I just barely got this. My time was something like 1:59:46 I think. Not sure about the last two numbers. My main gate save was at 1 hour 25 minute mark. I was even watching the 1:32 speedrun guide and doing pretty much what he did, yet I still ended up wasting a lot of time. Though, I didn't skip many save points like some people. I used most of them because I make lots of mistakes and I hated having to go far back. It wasn't worth it. But still, it shouldn't have costed me that much time.

Platinum Trophy

2 hours 2 min 32s 1st attempt.

2 hours 0 mins 24 seconds second attempt.

To quote many people in this thread "I hate this game"

Always in the east and west puzzles I get on the lift at the end and yorda wont follow me resulting in 10-15 secs of me having to go down and back up again to get her.

What am i doing wrong?

Fecking game!!!! C@*T of a game !!!!!! hate it hate it hate it! C@*T!!!!

Final Time 1 Hour 58mins 21sec, Thank Feck for that!!!!!! Even more elated than getting the SOTC Plat!! The final 10 min wait to run up the beach is nerve jangling!!
