SwatTJ
Overview: -Estimated trophy difficulty: 2/10 -Offline: 42 -Online: 0 -Approximate amount of time to Platinum: 4-6 hours -Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 -Number of missable trophies: None -Glitched trophies: None -Do cheat codes disable trophies?: None Available Road Map: Ice Age 3 is an easy game to play if you are wanting a platinum trophy, but also a fairly fun game with many different varieties of play involved. You likely won't need the use of a guide for this game however a few of the challenges could prove to be difficult. A few things first. The first thing I recommend doing is to just play through the story first. Some may want to do the challenges straight away after the story mission since they are familiar with it. I disagree because most of the challenges you can beat the first or second time once you've beaten the game. The other, more difficult ones, will take practice runs to get therefore playing straight away doesn't matter much in my opinion. Throughout the story there will be chances to purchase stuff from the store. You can also do this on the main menu. The entire bottom row of the store consist of crystals. These all count toward your total number of crystals so you need to purchase them all. To go along with those, there are 3 crystals in each level. I needed more fruit as I stopped collecting it while playing. I replayed the level Nuts About Scratte over and over. It only took 2-3 runs to get the amount I needed. Just be sure to get the pears for big boosts. You could also try the Noisy Nightlife level if you choose. Once you've beat the game and gotten all the crystals, wrap up the challenge trophies. Some will take some time while others seem like a waste of time. If you can't get one then just keep practicing. Videos for the challenges are all done by me. In some of them you can see obvious mistakes that either made me miss points or lose time. This just goes to show that you can mess up and still get the trophy requirement. Gameplay done by me and video recording done by my mom . Good way to spend some time with the family. SwatTJ
http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg The Early Bird Complete Sid's Early Start This is basically the tutorial level of the game. Your basic controls and basic principles in the game are taught to you. Follow the on screen instructions and progress forward. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Baby Proofer Complete Baby Proofing In this level you'll need to cover the sharp rocks with mud, cover the rocks with leaves and then melt the icicles. You'll then control a new character and use him to pull up the stumps around the area. Lastly, use the rhino characters to break up the rocks. You can lure them into the rocks or you can daze them and the ride them into the rocks. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Pursuit Complete The Pursuit This is a chase/race type level. Your goal is to catch up to the deer. Jump over the water to maintain speed and use your powerslide to round corners. You'll definitely want to use the powerslide to turn the corners covered in ice. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Egg Hunt Complete Lonesome Sloth This is a standard 3D platforming level. Make the jumps, kill the enemies, and burn spider webs with your torch. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Egbert, Shelly and Yoko Complete Egg Roll These levels consists of riding a snowball covered egg around obstacle courses. You'll navigate narrow ledges, enemies riding rocks themselves, strong winds, elevators, etc. You can take your time so you get through it safely. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Escape! Complete Run Sid Run! This level will have your character running toward the screen. You'll need to hold the left stick toward you so you run as fast as you can. The dinosaur will take bites at you at which point you need to dodge them. It is all explained on screen. Avoid the various wildlife also running away. There are gaps and drop offs you'll need to avoid however fruit trails typically alert you to which way to go. If you fail, keep practising. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg A Nutty Rival Complete Nuts About Scratte This is a 2D scrolling platform level. It's straight forward with minimal enemies to avoid and jumps to complete. Remember that you have double jump in these levels as well. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Meeting Buck Complete Buck to the Rescue This level is much like the other basic 3D platforming levels. The only difference is you're controlling a new character who has new weapons. You can also visit the shop and increase his health and ammo capacities as they are separate. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Keen Gardener Complete Flower Power This is another 3D platforming level. You will get the water squirter in this level. You will need to squirt dead leaves and mossy/overgrown branches to progress in the level. The only other thing that's different or new is that you'll have to fight a giant bee hive. Just keep shooting it and any bees that get in your way. There are ammo pickups in this area if you run out. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Rescue Operation Complete Root of all Evil This whole level is a boss fight. Follow the on screen prompts as they will tell you what to attack and when, and with what weapon. You'll destroy various parts of the plant and use your vine to rip it apart. The last step will require you to run to the pods on the outer edges of the area and cover yourself in whatever goo it is. Once covered you can run into the plant. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Helping Scratte Complete Scrat's Jungle Jive This is the second 2D side scrolling platform level. It's a little bit more involved but you will still find it straight forward. Certain sections may give you trouble. If that's the case, practice and take advantage of the checkpoints. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Always follow the Rules! Complete Expect the Unexpected! Another general 3D platforming level. You can ride the dinosaur to break open certain areas if you want to. You'll encounter yet another bee hive as well. Same rules apply here as they did before. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Protect the Babies Complete Noisy Nightlife This is a shooter level with crosshairs. Simply aim the crosshairs at the various dinosaurs and insects and fire away. You can shoot as much as you want and the crosshairs don't have to be dead on accurate. There will be 3 large dinosaurs and each of them carry the crystals in the level. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Ace Shooter Complete Flight of the Pterodactyl This is a 2D side scrolling shooter level. Enemies will come from in front of and behind you so stay alert. There are some environmental hazards you'll need to avoid as well. Generally, you want to pick up each power up as they appear. Power ups include upgraded weapons and one will allow you to shoot forward and back at the same time. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Pterosaur Troubles Complete Saving Sid This is a 3D flying level with reticule shooting involved. It's pretty straight forward while flying through the caves. Shoot pods for fruit and shoot all the enemies you can. When you get out of the cave and into the last section of the level, you'll need to fly through cloud rings, shoot plants and shoot down dinosaurs. There are counters on the left of the screen so just shoot what you need to complete the level. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Rescue Sid Complete Rudy's Revenge This is the second, and last, level where your character runs toward the screen. The same strategies apply here. Follow fruit trails to avoid hazards and dodge when Rudy attacks you. You'll get attacked much more frequently in this level than before. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg In Love Complete Scrat's Tar Pit Trouble This is the last 2D side platforming level. Use all the strategies you've learned so far and you'll be fine. The hardest part is probably jumping from bubble to bubble. At this part remember to double jump to make sure you make it to any bubble that's available. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg A Sticky Situation Complete Grave Danger This is the standard 3D platforming level. Use all your knowledge and the wall run ability and it shouldn't prove too difficult. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg Final Showdown Complete Skeleton Bridge This is the final level. Use your bazooka weapon to destroy each flower. The flower will take more than one shot so keep at it. Once they are destroyed, you'll need to run to the next section and do the same thing. Keep at it and you'll beat it. Sometimes you'll need more ammo so hit the mushrooms or swing over the gap to find more ammo. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/1.jpg The Development Team View the Credits You could get it right away by viewing the credits from the main menu or you can get this once you beat the game and the credits roll. Either way, you don't have to watch them all the way through; just until the trophy pops in the beginning. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/2.jpg A Chilled Breeze Complete the Ice Age levels This is accomplished once the level "Nuts about Scratte" is completed. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/2.jpg Escaping from the Unknown Complete the levels below the Ice This is accomplished once the level "Skeleton Bridge" is completed. Each level will have 3 crystals that can be grabbed. Once they are grabbed, the game will save and the crystals will disappear. Simply getting all of these will not complete any set however. You'll need to spend fruit on crystals in the store. They are located on the bottom row of the store and there are multiple crystals available. Make sure you purchase all of them. Ponypo2001 was nice enough to compile a list of crystal locations in each level. See Crystal Locations for the locations. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/3.jpg Going Home Complete the Game This is awarded once the entire game in completed. http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/166/4.jpg Platinum Trophy Earn all Gold, Silver, and Bronze Trophies within Ice Age 3 Achieve all the other trophies for this game. SwatTJ
How do you have the health bar up to 7 hits in the challenges. Although I purchased the health improver or whatever the hell it is, I still have only five hits. Once you take control of Buck you can buy more. The store will have more health and all of the new weapon upgrades once you complete the level "Nuts about Scratte." That's the only thing I could think of.
