Playthrough 1

It appears that all trophies can be earned on easy, so it's recommended you do that, but if you want a challenge feel free to play a harder difficulty.

 

While you are playing, make sure to examine your surroundings, and pick up any objects/documents you find. Also, keep an eye out for situation based kills, such as killing with fire or electricity, or sweeping enemies off their feet with water. I will go over specific places where you can find these situations below. Also, there is a medal for beating the game without failing a hack. Do yourself a favor and get this on your first playthrough, or you'll have to play the whole game beginning to end, again.

 

**Note: The Deep Breath medal is missable and somewhat glitched. See the walkthrough for it in my Medal Guide for more details**

 

Specific Acts

After beating the game, go back using the Act Select and finish up on anything you missed, such as situational kills, objects/documents, and the 'My Hero' trophy.

 

Challenge Room

Challenge Room is an arena-type side mission. You are in a room with a number of boxes and explosive barrels. The goal is to survive five waves of increasingly difficult enemies. The three things to do here is beat it (for the 'Challenged' trophy), beat it without firing your gun (for the 'Poseidon's Daughter' medal, and beat the first two rounds without firing your gun (for the 'Hydro Power' medal). Obviously, you can get all of these simply by beating it without using your gun.

Completed the game

 

Pretty self-explanatory, just beat the game and the trophy will pop right after the credits start.

 

Boss tips can be found here:

[spoiler=7778]Take cover behind one of the boxes to your right or left. When the Boss starts shining a green laser around, watch it closely. It will then start firing grenades around the area it is shining the laser. If it throws grenades towards you, quickly run behind a column on the left or right side of the room. It should then begin firing a white laser at you. This causes a LOT of damage. Stay behind cover until it stops firing and opens its vents, then quickly leave cover and shoot one of the vents with an energy shot (The vents are highlighted with a white circle). This will stun the Boss. When it is stunned, quickly use your Hydro powers to pick up an explosive barrel from the water, and throw it towards the boss using :r3:. After you damage the Boss, some guards will run in. Take care of them however you like. Repeat the process two more times, and you will have defeated the Boss.

There are a total of 17 objects and 55 documents scattered throughout the game. They can be found on the floor, on desks or shelves, and on bodies. In Acts 2 and 3, documents are sometimes hidden on the walls, which must be viewed and picked up via the "Mavi" viewer (Press :down: to activate Mavi).

Completed the Challenge Room

 

To get this trophy, simply survive all 5 waves of the Challenge Room.

 

Note: You must complete the story mode before you can access the Challenge Room.

 

Tips: My strategy is to immediately duck behind the low wall in front of you and stay there for pretty much the duration of the level. Switch between that wall and the one to your left as needed when you are being flanked. I found the Sonic rounds to work best, simply because you can charge it while in cover, and quickly fire it, and no matter where it hits, the enemy will fall unconscious and drown.

Completed a hack

 

This one is unmissable, as you must complete a hack in Act One to progress through the game.

Swept 3 Malthusians off their feet with water.

 

To get this trophy, pay attention when you get into gun-fights with enemies, especially in hallways. If you see a closed glass door with water behind it near an enemy, shoot it and the water will rush into the enemy and knock him down. Do this three times and you got the trophy!

 

[spoiler=12341]Also, you can complete this after receiving the Hydro powers, simply by pressing :l2: and using the :rs: to hit the enemy with the tower of water and knocking him over

Killed 5 Malthusians with fire or electricity

 

This one is pretty easy as well. Any time you see a flashing object you can shoot it and it will either blow up or begin spouting electricity. Keep an eye out for these during gunfights. When an enemy gets close to it, shoot it. If it's an electrical object, the enemy must be standing in water.

 

Some of the items are:

Barrels on the ground that blow up

Pipes on the wall that explode

Fuse Boxes on the wall that overload electricity into water.

 

An easy area to get this trophy is in Act 2 when you hack into the CCTV and see the engineers getting killed, make sure you open the door remotely in time. This is an easy 2 kills. Shortly after that, when you are on your way to shut down the Cycloconverters (and right after you shut them down), there are a LOT of barrels sitting around. I got this trophy here without even trying.

Killed 2 Malthusians with a timed chain attack.

 

Simply kill two people by an explosion from a barrel or electricity from a fuse box. An easy way to do this is to find a smallish room with at least two enemies and a bunch of barrels. Shoot one barrel and it should cause the others to explode as well. If all the explosions took out at least two enemies, it's yours.

Saved Chief Billingham

 

In Act 1, when the Chief is stuck in the room that is on fire, simply make it back to him in time to save him, and you got it.

Neutralized 10 Malthusians in underwater combat

 

This will come in Act 2 without much effort. Make sure that when you're in the areas that are flooded, that both you and the enemy are completely submerged. I made a few kills that didn't seem to count, and I think it's because both you and the enemy must be completely underwater.

Drowned a Malthusian

 

I literally got this on my very first enemy I fought in Act 1. Simply use the sonic rounds to knock out an enemy when he is standing in water. He will fall down unconscious into the water and drown. Easy peasy.

Medal Guide

 

Missable trophies in Story Mode

 

Geek - Complete the game without failing a hack.

I'm listing this first, as if you fail a single hack in the game, you will have to replay the whole game, from start to finish to get this medal. One great method to get this is if you are hacking something and you think you are about to fail, simply hit :circle: to disconnect and try again, as this will not count as a fail.

 

Introspective - Find all the objects in Kate's apartment.

There are 6 objects in the apartment. They are:

Sleeping Pills- on the coffee table in front of the giant TV.

Classical Engineering- it's a book on the floor to the right of the desk where you pick up Mavi.

Certificate of Achievement- On the long red table at the top of the stairs

Climber's Choice - Weighted Wrist Bands- On the white chair to the left after you come to the top of the stairs.

Climber's CHoice - Handgrips- To the right of the Wrist Bands, on the white couch.

Roy the DOnkey- To the right of the Handgrips

 

Systems Engineer - After escaping the elevator shaft, examine the malfunctioning door.

Pretty Self-explanatory. In the beginning Act 1, just after the cutscene with the crashing elevator, turn around and walk up to the broken door.

 

Item - Find an object outside of Kate's Apartment.

See the description for the 'Private Eye' trophy.

 

Acrobat - Explore the ceiling area around the Shuttle Plaza.[/i]

Right after you discover the dead officer, the window will explode and you'll have to jump out the window onto a steel rafter. When you do, climb onto it and jump to the red bar in front of you. Then swing off of it to the next girder, and its yours.

 

Panther - Dive under the closing door before the corridor floods on your way to Security Control.

Right after the 'Acrobat' medal, run down the stairs. When you reach the bottom, run as fast as you can down the corridor, jumping over debris and water surges. When you reach the half closed door, press :triangle: while running to dive under it.

 

Systems Engineer 2 - Inspect the encrypted door in Security Control before finding the frequency key.

In the room where the Chief is beating on the window, before going up the ladder to the left, examine the glass door on the right that is glowing purple.

 

Explorer - Find both hidden rooms in Security Control.

First room: Just after you climb out of the elevator shaft and the burning elevator crashes, go back into the elevator shaft and climb up.

Second Room: After you climb out of the elevator shaft, and the Chief is directly in front of you, climb up the shaft to the left.

 

Fire Fighter - Extinguish the flames in Security Control

When you save Chief Billingham by opening the doors to flood the room, it will put out the fires and you got the medal.

 

Collector - Find all the collectables in Act 1.

See the 'Private Eye' trophy for a list of objects/documents.

 

Deep Breath - Retrieve the hidden underwater collectable halfway down the elevator shaft in one breath.

You actually have to collect two documents, not just one.

Towards the end of Act 1, you will have to swim up an elevator shaft. Halfway up the elevator shaft is a door you can open. Swim through that and go all the way down the corridor to the right. At the end is a body that contains the first document, and if you look through the doorway to the left with Mavi, you will see a wall document. Then quickly swim back to the elevator shaft and up. This must all be completed without breaking the surface.

 

Note: If you collect these the first time and you take a breath, or if you collect them and then drown before making it back, you will not be able to get this medal without deleting your save file and starting from scratch. The reason for this is that while you can collect objects and normal document several times, once you pick up a wall document, you cannot collect it again.

 

I have contacted Dark Energy Digital regarding this. They stated that they are aware of this problem and are looking into it. Hopefully they decide to fix it.

 

Valour - Rescue both Billingham and Grimsley.

This is a pretty easy one.

Chief Billingham: In Act 1, you must make it to Chief Billingham before the timer runs out.

Grimley: In Act 2, right after you hack into the CCTV for the first time, you must remotely open the door in time to save the engineer.

It isn't too hard, but if you think you are going to fail, you can press :start: and select "Load Game" and reload from the last checkpoint to retry.

 

Heroism - Rescue Grimley in the Cycloconverters.

See 'Valour'

 

Espionage - Use CCTV to soit the Malthusian in the Cycloconverter B control room.

WHen you enter the Cycloconverter B room, you will see a security camera on the ceiling. Hack it using Mavi and cycle through the feeds using :l1: or :r1: until you see the enemy.

 

Stealth - Kill the first 3 Malthusians first VFD facility without being detected

This happens right after you pick up your Gel Rounds for the first time. Equip them, and shoot the guy on the right while his back is turned. Drop into the water, and crouch using :l3: immediately. Take cover. Wait until the two remaining enemies are grouped together, then take them out with another Gel Round. If you are discovered, reload the checkpoint.

Alternate strategy provided by the_requiem:

I used Stealth Takedown instead of explosive gel. Get the first guy on right and then get back to where you entered and wait for next guy to come inspect the body.

 

Breach - Shoot the breach in VFD 2 to escape.

Right after you hack the console to destroy the second set of VFDs, Shoot the flashing red portion of the wall a few times until the water bursts out.

 

Maelstrom - Use CCTV to find the first loading bay.

Near the end of Act 2, in the room with the shipping containers, hack the security camera, and use it to open the stairwell door.

 

Collector 2 - Find all the collectables in Act 2.

See the 'Private Eye' trophy for a list of objects/documents.

 

Flood - Flood the corridors after leaving the Loading Bays.

Near the beginning of Act 3. After the room with the wires touching the water that you have to shoot, you will go into some corridors. There are a total of five windows you must shoot and break. After shooting one, wait a few seconds to allow all the water out of each room before moving to the next one.

 

Gravity - Launch 2 Malthusians over the side of the Shuttle Plaza.

Just use explosions to send enemies flying over the edge. Alternatively, you can knock out an enemy that is standing near the edge, then as he tries to stand up, shoot him again, and he will slide under the railing.

 

Collector 3 - Find all the collectables in Act 3.

See the 'Private Eye' trophy for a list of objects/documents.

 

All Items - Collect all the items in the game.

Miscellaneous

 

Humanitarian - Headshot a Malthusian while they are on fire or being electrocuted.

I found this MUCH easier to accomplished while they are being electrocuted, as they stay relatively still whereas with fire, they shake uncontrollably. Simply watch out for an enemy standing next to a fuse box. When yo spot one, shoot the fuse box and while the enemy is still being electrocuted, quickly shoot him in the head.

 

Resourcefulness - Kill a Malthusian by exploding a barrel.

Very easy. Keep an eye out for an enemy near a barrel, and shoot the barrel when you see one. There are barrels located near a lot of cover points throughout the game, so there are many opportunities to get this medal.

 

Bad Dream - Kill a Malthusian with an explosion while they are unconscious

Simply wait for an enemy to be near a barrel, then shoot him in the chest with non-charged Sonic Rounds until he falls over, knocked out. Then blow the barrel up. (You'll know the enemy is unconscious and not dead if he is still flashing red while on the ground)

 

Vandal - Destroy 50 objects.

You should get this on your first playthrough. Simply destroy barrels, fuse boxes, and glass windows until you get this one.

 

Mermaid - Spend 20 minutes underwater.

Once you get to Act 3 and you haven't gotten this medal yet, simply go underwater until Kate is almost out of breath, then resurface. Repeat until you get it.

 

Combos - Get a total of 20 combos in one playthrough.

It is easiest to rack up combos in Act 2, as there are a lot of barrels, fuse boxes, and pipes on the walls to use.

 

Mega COmbo - Score 7000+ points in one combo.

This one is pretty difficult. A great place to get this is described by StarsRPD of xbox360achievements.org. I'm adding a bit to it to make it clear where you're at.

 

After saving Grimley, you will go into a room and shoot the glass out to go through it. Wait behind the fence and aim for a blue gas canister at the far end of the room, when you see the enemies walk directly under it shoot and explode the canister, next shoot the 2 other canisters to your left by the staircase your close to, continue the combo by hitting the 2 electrical wires in the middle of the room. Be quick, might take a few tries.

Challenge Room

 

Hydro Power - Complete the first two waves in the Challenge Room without firing your gun.

Poseidon's Daughter - Complete the Challenge Room without firing your gun.

The tips on how to complete this contains spoilers.

[spoiler=challenge room tips]This can be a pain, if you aren't very good with the Hydro powers. The two main ways to kill an enemy with powers is to pick them up in a water column and throw them into a wall, or to pick up objects and throw them into the enemy. I prefer the first method, as it doesn't require you to aim. Also, as you can't use Hydro powers while in cover, you must keep moving consistently. Try to stay as close to the wall as possible to reduce the chance that an enemy's shot will hit you. Take cover when necessary to regain health. Another great thing I found is to pick up te blue containers, and place them on the walkway, using them to block enemy shots, which allows you to focus on killing them, rather than dodging bullets.

 

 

Story Related (Cannot be missed)

 

Infiltrate - Gain access to the Cycloconverters

Not missable.

 

Survivor - Complete Act 1

Not missable.

 

Ciphers - Crack the Malthusian frequency key to discover the first cipher in Security Control.

Not missable.

 

Justice - Kill your first Malthusian.

Not missable.

 

Battle Joined - Destroy the VFD's to take the fight to the Malthusians.

Not missable.

 

Fighter - Destroy the Cycloconverters.

Not missable.

 

Firefighter 2 - Use CCTV to remotely open the door and extinguish the flames in the Maintenance Corridor after the Cycloconverters.

Not missable.

 

Draining - Drain the water from the flooded Loading Bay area.

Not missable.

 

Destination - Reach the Shuttle Plaza

Not missable.

 

Climber - Climb to the Shuttle Station from the Plaza

Not missable.

 

Nemesis - Discover who is behind the Malthusian Attack.

This should not be missable, as you find out who is behind the attack in Act 3. Unfortunately, this has not popped for me. It appears to be a fairly common issue, with no known fixes at this point, other than to keep trying.

Please do not post incomplete guides. Also you need at least 50% of the trophies in a game before you can post a guide. Please provide your psn ID so that your trophy % can be verified.

Won't medals trophy be missable? As in, there is one for not failing a single hack in the game. If you fail one and didn't retry, can you get that medal just by hacking that one [through chapter select] or requires you to play game from scratch? If it is latter, then it is definitely a missable trophy.

 

Would be good to include Medal information. Medals may cause one to replay the game, thus affect minimum no. of playthroughs one may need.

 

Also, "Does difficulty affect trophies: No" though haven't checked if there is a medal for finishing game on Hard.

Most medals are easily obtained just by replaying the Act they were in, and you only have to replay it up to that point.

 

I did mention the medal as missable, but forgot to change the Overview to reflect that. Thanks.

 

While it can affect the number of playthroughs one would have to complete, all trophies in the game are acquirable in one playthrough, so I listed the minimum as one.

 

There is not a medal for completing the game on hard. Thank you for pointing out that I forgot to put that on the Overview.

I forgot to try but this could be good spot to get the medal where you need to headshot electrocuted/on-fire enemy. Stealth Takedown immbilizes them as they're electrocuted. Will check on next enemy I stealth kill and see if it gives the medal.

 

Nemesis - Discover who is behind the Malthusian Attack.

This should not be missable, as you find out who is behind the attack in Act 3. Unfortunately, this has not popped for me. It appears to be a fairly common issue, with no known fixes at this point, other than to keep trying.

 

I got this in ActII as part of story progression. A journal shows up and got the medal when I read the journal [press Select].

I always forget about the Stealth Takedown... I try to keep my distance so I forget that it exists sometimes haha. I'd love to include it in the guide, if that's okay with you. (With credit of course)

 

I'm getting ready to run through it again to clarify some other things... You got it in Act 2? I've read that it's supposed to be in Act 3... I'll make sure to check all journal entries in all the Acts as I go through this time.

I haven't got to Act3 yet and I think I saw it pop-up, unless I am confusing it with something else. Maybe journal entry is called Nemesis or something.

 

This game reminds me of Deus Ex/System Shock in some ways so my natural instinct is to play way I played them, stealthily. Something I noticed about Stealth Takedown, even if in combat, you can do Stealth Takedown if you manage to get drop on the enemy.

 

As for credit, am just glad to help folks who spend so much time and effort into helping others. I don't have the patience or time to write a guide, so really respect those who do. Think of my inputs as thank you notes.

 

EDIT: Can confirm I got Nemesis early on. It was around the second time Mila shows up on a vid screen. I got prompt to read a journal and got Nemesis. Will see if I can figure out which Journal it was.

Hey requiem... Sorry about the delay... My internet connection has been less than stable haha.

 

For the Flood medal, in the corridors after the flooded room with the wires touching the water (that you have to shoot), there's a corridor... Just shoot every window you see in that hallway and the next (If I remember right, there are five) and the corridor will flood up to the ceiling. I'm gonna go check it in a bit to refresh myself haha.

Also, for the people that need help with Megacombo:

 

I can't confirm this works for the medal, as I can't time the roll right, but it's worth a shot:

In this video, the player times a roll through the lasers in the challenge room into the area where the bombs spawn.

In this one you see how he allows the bombs to build up and just shoots them.

 

Again, I'm not sure if this counts for the medal as I can't get in there myself, but I don't see why it wouldn't, as other medals are attainable in the Challenge Room.

Aha, I think I counted 4 in my run and thought there were 3. Will need to try it again.

 

As for megacombo, I tried it but timing is rather tough. Won't be surprised if they modified the kill-box for PS3 version. Alternately, what I tried was start Practice mode, and just wait and gather all barrels so can shoot them later. But my L2 kinda misses a lot and ended up exploding barrels fequently by dropping them on each other. Will try that tactic sometime later and then let you know. Now time to string up goons in Arkham City.

 

Dont worry about delayed response, I been too busy past couple days [and will be in coming days] to even turn on my PS3.

I've noticed a strange thing... the guide says that the nemesis medal is unlockable in act 3, but I've got the medal in act 1: after you save Billingham, on the monitor Mila will appear, if you stay in the room until the end of the video, you'll earn the medal :)

 

I've tried two times (after deleting saved data for the damn Deep Breath medal...) and it always worked :D
