Roadmap

Introduction

Hollywood Squares, the home of B & C-rate celebrities who want to be back in the spotlight and need a paycheck, bring life to the classic game of "tic-tac-toe" with comedy in this trivia gameshow. Two contestants play the game by selecting squares and determining if the "stars" answer to the question is true or false. Answering correctly gives them that square, answering wrong gives it to their opponents. The goal of the game is just like that in regular tic-tac-toe, get three across in a line before your opponent (or the most spots on the board if no one does by the end). The first opponent to win 2 rounds moves on to the bonus round where they can win additional cash & prizes. The game itself is very easy and can be made even easier as if you're stuck with a question, you can pause the game, google it, then go back and answer it, making this title extremely easy to 100%.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play Your First Solo Mode Episode

Start out by playing the first episode in Solo Mode. During this game you are going to want to make sure you get every question correct in both the main game and all 9 in the bonus round (Mr. Know It All & 60s' Personal Show). Also try to win one of the rounds by only having 3 X's on the board (No More Waste), find the secret square (Surprise Gifts), & make sure to answer all your main round questions within the last 5 seconds of the timer counting down to start working towards Right Answer Is Never Too Late. After you complete the game doing these steps, you will also get The First Winning & First Pot Of Gold.

Step 2: Play Through The Remaining Solo Mode Episodes

Play through the remaining 19 episodes aiming for all the remaining offline trophies. By the end of the remaining shows, if there are any offline trophies that you are missing (minus Hollywood Expert), go back and clean those up now.

Step 3: Play Online

Play online by yourself or with a boosting partner (Trophy Boosting Thread). It is probably easiest to use a boosting partner to guarantee your wins needed for the remaining trophies, but also because the online (at least currently) isn't super populated it seems. Just play through your 30 games making sure you win them all to obtain the remaining trophies and finish off your 100%!

Win a bonus round in single mode.

To make it to the bonus round, you must first win the game (win 2 rounds). The bonus round itself consists of 9 questions in which you have 90 seconds to answer (for each correct answer you get, one of the wrong keys at the end gets eliminated). After you finish the question portion, you must select the correct key out of the remaining ones that will open the chest. The easiest way to get this trophy is to make sure you get at least 8 of the 9 questions correct as it will narrow it down to only one key, giving you the correct one. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. Select the correct key and when it opens the chest, the trophy will pop shortly there after.

Possess a prize of $ 400,000.

This trophy is accumulative and will be achieved as you finish off the other trophies since you will earn more than $400,000 over the quest for them. There is a total of 20 "episodes" and if you win the bonus round in each one, you will get $22,000 ($23,000 if you get the secret square during the game) per game. You can view your progress at the main menu above your character. Once you reach a total of $400,000 earned, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/6B2.jpg Game Just Starts http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Finish the first week.

The first week consists of 5 days and the center square for it is Brad Garrett. You just have to win all the games (just the main game, you do not have to win the bonus ones) in the week to move on and unlock the next week. Once you finish Friday's show and win, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/E99.jpg Right Answer Is Never Too Late http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Give the correct answer within the last 5 seconds for 5 times.

For every time you are asked a question in the main game portion, you are given a 10 second clock to answer within. For this trophy, just let the counter get down to under 5 seconds and then answer correctly. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. Rinse and repeat 5 times and after the 5th one, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/22A.jpg No More Waste http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Win a round by gaining only 3 squares.

This is actually a lot easier than it sounds. When you start a game, begin by selecting the center square and getting it correct. After that it's just up to the computer player to get their first question wrong, giving you another X on the board, leaving only one spot left to get a tic-tac-toe. Select that last spot and get the question right so you win in only 3 spots. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. Once you win a round within only 3 squares, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/740.jpg Suprise Gifts http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Choose the correct answer in a Secret Square.

This will come eventually in your playing. In the second (and third if not found before) rounds, one of the people is labeled as the "Secret Square" and you get a $1000 bonus if you answer it correctly. It is completely at random, so each game it will be some one different. When you do find them, just answer their question correctly to earn the trophy! If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/5E8.jpg 60s' Personal Show http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Correctly answer 9 questions in one Bonus Round.

For this trophy, you must answer all 9 of the questions in the bonus round correctly. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. After you finish the round with 9 out of 9 questions answered correctly, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/792.jpg Hollywood Expert http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Correctly answer 300 questions.

This trophy is accumulative and will be achieved over time. You just have to do exactly what it says, answer 300 questions correctly. This includes all questions from both the main game and the bonus round, so you can easily get 13-19 correct answers in each game if you answer them all correct. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. After you finally answer your 300th question correctly, the trophy will pop!

Find the right key from multi-choice in a row of 3.

Thanks to DeuceNation for finding out the proper way for obtaining this trophy via Ludia Tech:

I can't believe it. Props to Ludia Tech. I actually got a response, explanation, and apology. They explained that this game was carted over by programmers whose first language is not english. It has nothing to do with three keys in a row for a single game at all. It simply wants you to guess the correct key three games in a row from as little as 2. I tested it, and FINALLY got the trophy. I even lost a game in between the keys, and still got it only saving two keys for the bonus round, and it still popped. Mystery solved. Three bonus rounds in a row 2 keys or more guessed correctly. Any stages played or unplayed.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/D00.jpg Mr. Know All http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Always correct in one match.

You have to get every question correct in one episode including all 9 bonus round questions. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. Once you finish the episode with every question answered correctly, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/5D0.jpg Hollywood Champion http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Go through the game under any difficulty.

There is a total of 4 weeks with 5 episodes in each one for a total of 20 shows. Just play through all 20 of them and win them all (winning the bonus rounds is not required, just main games). After you finish the final show and win it, the trophy will pop! Remember, if you are having problems with a question in an episode, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready.

Unlock all items in wardrobe.

You unlock wardrobe items by winning the bonus rounds of each episode. There is a total of 20 episodes (4 weeks with 5 days in each) and you must win the bonus round in each one to get them all. The easiest way to assure you will win the bonus round in each one is to get at least 8 or the 9 questions correct in the bonus rounds as it will guarantee that you will be left with the correct key to select and will win it for you every time. If you are having problems with a question, you can pause the game and google the answer, then unpause and answer when you are ready. You can see what episodes you have achieved the wardrobe item in as it will have a gold medal (at least that's what it looks like to me) on the episode. If you are missing any, just go back and look for the one(s) that don't have one. Once you get all 20 items, the trophy will pop!

Finish one online competition.

All you need to do is just go online and play a game against someone. You do not need to win the match, just play it through until it's completion. After the match is over, the trophy will pop!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1281/CCE.jpg Dare You Challenge Me? http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Beat 30 rivals online.

You must play and win 30 matches in online play for this one. You can either do this by just going online and playing random matches and trying to win or you can boost it with a partner and have them lose the matches on purpose so you get the wins. If you are looking for someone to boost with, you can find someone in the Trophy Boosting Thread. Once you win your 30th match, the trophy will pop!

I left 4 keys (only answered 5 questions correctly), guessed the correct one and trophy did not pop. I'm wondering if there is more to it than simply leaving a minimum of 4 keys, or if it's glitched. It's worded so terribly. Anyone else have trouble?

No idea as I tried doing it again on my wife's account and after 6 attempts, finally selected the correct key out of 4 and it popped so not sure why it wouldn't for you. I originally thought it might have had to do with missing 3 questions in a row on the board so you missed a "row of 3" on there, but both times it popped for me, the spots I missed were random around the board, so no idea. Best thing I guess I can say is try again and hopefully it's not a glitched one for some people.

If anyone else is having the same problem, report it here and if it seems like it is an issue, I'll post a note in the guide that it might be glitched.

Well I've tried everything I can think of. I did the requirements stated in the guide 4 seperated times trying different patterns even (3 in a row, 3 in a column, 3 diagnolly). With no success. So, I deleted all my save files, and uninstalled the game. Redownloaded, and did it again. Still nothing. So, I then went to my other PS3, and did it again. Still nothing. I'm at a loss. I'm gonna try not answering ANY questions right, and try to get it out of all 9 (uhg). Don't know what else to do.

regarding Lucky Guess, when i got it the 3 remaining keys were in a row on the game board. notice i said 3. i was trying to keep my odds of picking the correct key at a maximum, so i only missed 3 questions. the retarded trophy description DOES say in a row of three, so that may be the secret. glad i didnt write this guide tho, its such a sucky game to have to keep confirming this stuff.

Yeah I've definately tried three in a row, and only three in a row. I've had the last two days off, and have tried everything I can think of to obtain this stupid trophy. Different board patterns, different ps3s, 3 in a row, 3 in a column, 3 diagnol, missing only 3, missing only 4, missing 5+, picking the right one out of 3 keys in a row, changing my avatar, trying to achieve it on a board I've already unlocked the prize for, trying to achieve it on a board I'm playing for the first time, and my latest was to create an entirely new PSN account just to see if it would unlock if I did it there, and still no success. I'm such a dork I just sent an email to ludia tech support expressing how disappionted I am.

I have no idea what to say about it as it is almost seeming like it is a random thing for when the trophy pops. Like I said on my main account, it popped the very first time I had 4 keys to select from and there was no pattern, line, etc to the keys (no 3 in a row anywhere, nor on the board or anything). The time I used my wife's account to verify it, I didn't do anything different and answered only 5 random questions correct so I had a set of 4 keys remaining and it took 6 attempts to get it to pop (and that was with guessing the correct key 4 of those times). I just tried it again with my daughters one and it popped on the third time I guessed it correctly (although I guessed wrong about 9 times prior to that). I was trying to answer 3 in a row incorrect in the same row horizontal, vertical, diaganol on the main board to see if that had any bearing on it, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've added to the main guide that it might very well be glitched right now until I either a patch is made or there is something that we're missing is found and makes it work 100% of the time, because right now, it doesn't seem like there is one.

Will add this to the guide then and remove the glitched note on it of it :) Thanks for finding that out!

I don't believe this to be correct either... I just guessed right 3 times is a row... first out of 9, then 2, then 2... and no trophy...

Same here this is BS. I should have this stupid trophy by now. Ive guessed the key so many different ways. All keys, 3 keys, 4 keys, 3 times in a row etc and nothing...

OK, can comfirm this is completely correct from personal experience. Just in case there's any confusion, let me list precisely what I did:

1) Played three consecutive games (no quitting to main menu or turning off machine)

2) Won each game and went to bonus round

3) Guessed first seven bonus questions correctly, last two incorrectly on each bonus round

4) Picked correct key each time (some luck, but there's only two choices)

Trophy popped instantly after third key turned. I was worried that this glitch would be a nasty one, but it really is, as the earlier poster mentioned, just a badly translated trophy requirement. Trophy should say "Choose the correct key (from at least two choices) on each of 3 consecutive games."

NOTE: I'm not sure if quitting the game or losing a game will break the streak. I just know that following the above list of directions worked on the first try, and the instructions really aren't too hard to follow (with internet assistance for answers). Theoretically, the chance of getting 3 consecutive correct choices with two keys each time is only 1 in 8 - I was actually quite surprised that this worked on the first try.
