Some Platinum Help

Recommended Posts

Just platinum'd the game after starting it a few days ago. It was a bit tough in a few spots (mainly toward the end) but overall nothing too difficult. I would rate the difficultly somewhere along the lines of a 3/10. I also used the regular dual shock controller (you can also use move).

Some other random info:

- The game uses a cover system very similar to Time Crisis.

- You will need to finish the game two times, one for Rookie difficultly and one for Veteran. You can't start Veteran without completing Rookie difficulty, no exceptions.

- After completing two missions you will earn one unlock point to spend on health, faster reloading, weapon upgrade, carry more grenades, and ammo capacity.

- You can co-op (offline only) at any time with 3 of your buddies to make quick work of the main campaign.

I recommend upgrading in the following order, faster reloading > health > grenades > ammo capacity > weapon upgrade. The game allows you to reset your points at any time, so say if you spent most of your points on health and weapon upgrades and you'd much rather go with health and grenades instead? No problem. Select Armory from the main menu and hit square to reset.

Almost all of the trophies come naturally from playing the game and are pretty self explanatory. Here are a few tips for the more trickier trophies:

- The Marksman, Sharpshooter and Headhunter trophies should come naturally when playing the main campaign, but in case you still don't have them by the end of your two playthroughs you can replay the first level (Patriot - At Scene) and simply head shot every enemy. You will earn 96 head shots or more. Don't forget to go into the options and adjust the aiming sensitivity down to 0 for super easy head shots.

- For the Chain C trophy you need to kill 10 enemies simultaneously. In the mission VM Hawk Eyes - The Escort you will be inside an Apache helicopter. Very early at the start of the mission you will see enemies running toward a truck near the right side of the screen, wait until all the enemies are near the truck then shoot the truck and it will explode earning you the trophy.

- After finishing the game two times I still didn't have the Golden Bullet (For 25000 fired bullets) trophy. What I did was replay the above Hawk Eyes mission. While you are inside the Apache helicopter you are invincible have infinite ammo and can't die. There are a few sections in this level where the game will not progress until you kill all enemies on screen. What you do is when you reach one of these sections simply kill all enemies except for one, then continue shooting wherever until the trophy pops. Your gun will overheat, but just wait until it cools off then start shooting again like a mad man. Remember don't kill the last enemy on screen. You can use this method to unlock Bronze Bullet and Silver Bullet trophies as well.

- Trigger Happy. When you get to the --Shooting Range I-- stage shoot the sky and don't hit any targets at all. You will still pass the stage but with a mission accuracy of 0% easily earning you the Trigger Happy trophy.

- Close Call (For finishing any mission with only one Health bar left). When you are nearing the end of Patriot - At Scene you will have to kill two waves of enemies. When finishing the second wave leave one enemy alive and let him take down your health to one bar, then kill him! Trophy unlocked. :3

- Without a Scratch For finishing any mission without being hit (except shooting ranges and “Hawk Eyes - The Escort”). I earned this trophy in Patriot - At Scene (first stage on Rookie) on my second try. I recommend attempting this stage after you upgrade your grenades to max capacity (7 grenades total). The enemies rarely shoot in the first stage and tossing a grenade clears out an entire wave of enemies most of the time. Remember to duck when you see an exclamation point over an enemies head as this means you're about to be shot. If you're playing the game with your buddies they earn upgrades as well thus making this trophy a total joke.

I hope this info can be of some use to you guys.

The requirement for Trigger Happy is finishing any mission with an accuracy of 5% or lower. The --Shooting Range I-- stage is like a training exercise to test your reflexes. The whole stage is only 20 seconds long. If you fire away and don't hit anything you'll achieve an accuracy rating of 0%.

At the end of every level you'll be given an accuracy rating. I'm not too good at these games and my accuracy rating was always in the 54-60% range. You can earn the Pinpoint Accurate trophy in the --Shooting Range I-- stage as well. I just replayed the stage and hit two or three targets let the clock run down and my accuracy rating was 77%.

As for Veteran mode I died a few times here and there as a few areas are just a tad tough due to enemies in Veteran mode shooting a lot more frequently, but overall it isn't hard. If you can platinum Resistance 3 and RE5 you sure as hell can platinum this game. :)

^ Games like Call of Duty MW, Black Ops, Mafia II, Killzone 3, Resistance 2 & 3 Uncharted 1& 2, inFamous etc are much much harder to platinum than Heavy Fire: Afghanistan. You really shouldn't have any problems. If you have some friends to come over and play the game with you I would rate the difficulty even lower 2/10.

Thanks for the heads up, the wife is pretty good at shooters so it seems we would able to breeze through this based on what youve posted!! Thanks again:applause:

Fun game, even though there are a few presentation issues, I really enjoyed my time with the game. I got the Platinum in around 6hrs of playtime maybe and I'd rate it around a 2/10.

The only tricky trophy is the x10 multiplier, but as described above, on the Hawk Eyes Mission at the VERY BEGINNING, let the enemies run up for maybe 3-5 seconds and then fire three missiles (grenade button): one at the truck at the right; one at the group of enemies in the centre of the screen; and lastly at the group on the left of the screen. Fire off these three shots simultaneously and you'll net a 12+ combo for the trophy.

Have fun guys! The game might seem a bit bland at first, but once you get a few missions and are required to use the cover system, it become a good bit more fun. Oh, and use Move with the Flex-Fire or Sharp Shooter - I prefer the Flex-Fire myself. :)

Good tips, the game is not hard. If you have a hard time - go back into the armory and change to either increase grenates or upgrade to get a different gun w/ increased clip size (helps a lot on veteran).

I upgraded (in order) : reload, health, health, clip, clip, grenates, grenates, gun, gun... didn't upgrade grenates and gun until veteran, could have made it easier if done soon. Last level was a lot easier on veteran than rookie - due to using different gun and having more grenates. (just FYI)

Thanks to D-to-R for the mini guide.

Struggled with PS3 controller initially, it was easy after switching to Move Controller. The game is even easier after acquired better weapon and granades. Veteran was fun and easy through out (after upgraded to powerful weapons)

All in all, I truly enjoy this game! (players must have the right expectation, if you expect this game to run like MW3 and Time Crysis 2, then you will be disappointed. It is a good game for the bargain price that I pay, plus easy platinum)
