Introduction:

Welcome to Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA ƒ! The incredibly popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku herself has come to both the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3 along with the twins Kagamine Rin and Len, Luka, MEIKO and KAITO for another rhythm game adventure! There are 32 songs for you to enjoy in this game (however lucky Playstation 3 players gain access to an extra six brand new songs) with four difficulties available to choose from. There are online capabilities within the game as well, including the opportunity to edit your own songs which you can upload for the world to see, buy dozens of accessories and Modules for all six characters as well as caring for your Vocaloids in their own DIVA Rooms!

The trophies in Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA ƒ are thankfully much easier than their Dreamy Theater, Dreamy Theater 2 and Dreamy Theater Extend counterparts, which range from 9 to 10 on the trophy difficulty scale. All that's required in this (P) in a nutshell is to complete the game on two difficulties, Normal and Hard (no Perfecting required at all – phew!), reaching max friendship level with all six characters, as well as purchasing all available Modules (outfits) for the characters. Even though it is easy in retrospect, it will require quite a bit of time investment as well as a grind for Diva Points so don't be expecting a quick (P) here. There's something to note that's rather important in the game; most trophies will unlock when you back out to the main menu screen. So if it doesn't unlock immediately, do not fret. Simply back out a couple of menus and if you see the game saving when you back out, you'll more than likely earn the trophy.

The following links may prove invaluable for you as you play the game:

The Language Barrier:

Want to import this game to enjoy some of your favourite Vocaloid songs but afraid your lack of knowledge in the Japanese language will hold you back? Do not fear, it is still very easy to navigate and unless you want to understand the lyrics of the songs, you will not need to know a single word of the Japanese to enjoy, finish and subsequently (P) this game. If you are already studying Japanese then knowing Katakana will definitely help as the game makes use of this alphabet quite a bit, but otherwise you will simply need to follow the instructions within the guide.

I – Complete the Tutorial

If you wish, you can dive right into the game but I strongly recommend you complete the Tutorial first. Not only will it educate you on the basic mechanics of the game, but you will also earn your first trophy for the game. To get to the Tutorial, choose the top left option at the main menu and then choose the left option from there. Complete the Tutorial to earn your first trophy, then you're ready to move onto the real game:

(B) ようこそ、DIVAへ! (Welcome to DIVA!)

II – Normal Mode Playthrough

Go ahead and finish all 32 core songs on Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA ƒ. There is one trophy that requires you to finish all Chance Times in every song. In every song there will be a short Chance Time event where you must get a certain amount of notes right to influence how the PV (music video) will end. Make sure to get every Chance Time, for there is no record in the game for this meaning if you miss one you'll have to go through every song again to find the missing Chance Time. Aside from that little note, enjoy the game! The style of rhythm may take a while to get used to but eventually you'll get into the game and should complete most of the songs without any problems. There are a number of easy, miscellaneous trophies in the game, so feel free to pick any or all of them up any time you want on your journey for trophies. If you can't complete a certain song, feel free to avail of the Help Items in the game. For more information on these, refer to (G) 達人プレイヤー (Expert Player). By the end of this playthrough you will definitely unlock:

(B) I love DIVA

(G) 達人プレイヤー (Expert Player)

III – Hard Mode Playthrough

Now that Normal Mode is completed, it's time to do it all again on Hard Mode. The difficulty leap in PROJECT DIVA ƒ can be quite startling as first, because as with most rhythm games it isn't all too forgiving, however this can easily be remedied with both practice and the correct usage of Help Items, all explained in the difficulty-related trophies. If you happened to miss a song for a Chance Time for (G) エンターテイナー (Entertainer), you can try finding it here, but if the difficulty step is too much for you and you can't reach the required amount of notes, you should leave it for the trophy clean-up when all is done. After this step, you will unlock:

IV – DIVA Rooms and Shopping Grind

This is where the bulk of your road to the (P) will be spent. These steps are joined as you will need to grind Diva Points by completing songs in the main game to buy items for increasing friendship levels and furniture for unique events in the DIVA Rooms as well as purchasing every available item and Module in the game. This can be a tedious process unless you're a die-hard rhythm game fan, but there are tricks to earning Diva Points quicker by use of the Help Items. All necessary details will be listed under (G) モジュールコレクター (Module Collector) for the Diva Point grinding and 想い出アルバム (Memory Album) for the DIVA Room events. When all Vocaloids are at Level 6 friendship level, and all Modules and items are purchased, the following trophies shall be unlocked and there's only a small bit left to go before you earn your (P):

(G) モジュールコレクター (Module Collector)

(B) お宅訪問 (Home Interview)

(S) ミクのパートナー (Miku's Partner)

(S) リンの遊び相手 (Rin's Playmate)

(S) レンの友達 (Len's Friend)

(S) ルカのお茶仲間 (Luka's Tea Buddy)

(S) KAITOの相棒 (KAITO's Buddy)

(S) MEIKOのマネージャー (MEIKO's Manager)

(S) 癒しの空間 (Resting Place)

(S) 麗しの家具 (Beautiful Furniture)

(S) キミのためなら…… (If It Is For You……)

(G) 想い出アルバム (Memory Album)

V – Clean-Up

Now that the longest step is over and done with, it's time to clean up with everything you may have missed or trophies you may not have unlocked. This mainly consists of the miscellaneous trophies you may or may not have unlocked whilst completing all the other steps, so depending on how much you got finished in the last four steps, this will either be very quick or may take a little bit longer. If you missed any Chance Times, you'll have to get searching for it here. There are also a few other quick, easy trophies to earn in the DIVA Rooms and one online trophy. Once your final trophy unlocks, you will finally get the Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA ƒ (P), as long as these other trophies unlocked as well:

(G) エンターテイナー (Entertainer)

(S) 趣味:動画鑑賞 (Hobby: Watch Video)

(S) エディット P (Edit P)

(S) シューティングスター(Shooting Star)

(B) アートコレクション (Art Collection)

(B) エスパー (Esper)

(B) いただきます (Itadakimasu)

(B) おはようございます (Good Morning)

(B) ライブツアー (Live Tour)

(B) エディットはじめました (I Began Editing)

(B) イイネ!(That's Good!)

(B) こういう者です (This Is Who I Am)

(P) トロフィーマスター (Trophy Master)

Conclusion:

Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA ƒ is the first Vocaloid game to reach both the Playstation Vita and Playstation 3, so tends to be the most popular of the four PROJECT DIVA games available on current gen consoles. If you're looking for a challenge, you should definitely try to purchase the PSP and subsequently the trophy-enabled PS3 versions which have even more songs to enjoy – if you can fork out the cash for those imports, that is!

[beat all songs on Normal]

There are a total of 32 core songs in Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVAƒ and to unlock this trophy, you will need to clear all of them on Normal Mode (final score is irrelevant.) There's nothing particularly difficult about Normal Mode (the only song you may have trouble with would be Sadistic Music Factory) but if required, please check (G) 超人プレイヤー (Super Player) for more details on Help Items.

The six extra songs on the Playstation 3 version are not required for this trophy.

[beat all songs on Hard]

There are 32 core songs in Hatsune Miku – PROJECT DIVA - ƒ and to unlock this trophy you need to clear all of them on Hard Mode (final score is irrelevant.) Hard Mode can be quite a step up from Normal and you may find some trouble with some or many of the songs, unless you practiced well in the previous mode. Something that may help you out if you need it will be the use of Help Items. To access these, head into a song and pick the leftmost option. A sub-menu will appear, displaying all Help Items as well as Challenge Items, but they're not important now. There are two of particular interest:

  • リカバリー (Recovery) – If your Song Energy depletes completely, it's automatically refilled.
  • コンボガード (Combo Guard) – Thirty SAFE and SAD will be converted into FINE's over the course of the song. Getting a WORST or passing thirty SAD's/SAFE's will make the Help Item of no use thereafter.

Neither of these Help Items have any effect on your final rank unlike others, so you're free to use them as you please. Unfortunately, there is no Help Item to exactly safeguard your passing of the song so if upon using these you still cannot clear the song, it just boils down to practice until you get it right.

The six extra songs on the Playstation 3 version are not required for this trophy.

[succeed at every songs Chance Time]

Chance Time kicks in at a certain point in each song whereby you must successfully hit a certain amount of notes before the final note (a large star) ends Chance Time. If you failed to reach the required amount, the final note will be greyed out, whereas if you succeeded it will be a shining golden colour. Completing Chance Time simply means the PV (music video) will have a short extra scene during or at the end of the song or a minor detail will be included. For this trophy, you must complete Chance Time in every single song in the game. Unfortunately, there is no way to keep track of which ones you finished or missed unless you do so yourself so if this doesn't unlock by the time you complete the final song 夢の続き (Dreams' Continuation), then you will need to go through each song again until you find the missing one (you'll know if the trophy unlocks afterwards.)

[Module Collector]

[Acquire every module]

Modules are the alternate costumes available for each character in this game. The store for these Modules are accessed by selecting the third option down on the left side of the main menu, the first option on the left from the next menu and finally the first column of Modules. Note that Module accessories are not required for this trophy. You'll need to grind Diva Points to purchase all of these Modules, and considering that they Modules are quite costly, it may take a while to get there.

Firstly, you'll need to know that not all Modules are initally ready to buy. Yes, there are a few readily available for purchase, but these do not make up the total number for each character. Here are the conditions to unlock the 'hidden' Modules:

  • Complete the game on any difficulty.
  • Complete the game on Hard Mode.
  • Complete one song on Extreme Mode.
  • Play 10 sings with each character in the lead.

The first two requirements will be fulfilled simply by completing Normal and Hard Mode for their respective trophies, however the last two may not come naturally for you. Completing any song Extreme Mode shouldn't prove to be too difficult as your choice of track does not matter. For this reason, I recommend choosing 'Melanchonic' as your song, as even on Extreme the notes are slow and easy to follow. As you grind Diva Points for this trophy, you may or may not play at least 10 songs for one or two of the characters but you will need to grind the remaining few, which shouldn't take too long as this requirement carries across all difficulties. Note that Extra costumes are required for this trophy should you own the Playstation 3 version.

Now that you know how to unlock all the Modules for purchase, you'll need to get the Diva Points to actually buy them. There are many ways you can do this; you can simply play random songs for enjoyment purposes on whichever difficulty you like and slowly get the required amount of cash, or if you're impatient you can make use of the Challenge Items that are on offer in the game which grant a cash bonus. These are available in the same place as the Help Items in the game; when in the song screen, pick the left option and a sub-menu of Help Items will appear. There are four Challenge Items of particular interest, these being:

  • シャイターゲット (Shy Target) – Notes must be hit sooner to be successful. Your Diva Points reward at the end will be doubled.
  • サバイバル (Survivor) – COOLs and FINEs will not regenerate Song Energy; Song Energy lost be lost permanently for the song. You only have 50% Song Energy. Your Diva Points reward at the end will be doubled.
  • サバイバル S (Survivor S) – COOLs and FINEs will not regenerate Song Energy; Song Energy lost will be lost permanently for the song. You only have 25% Song Energy. Your Diva Points reward at the end will be tripled.
  • マスター (Cool Master) – FINEs and SAFEs will deplete Song Energy; only COOLs will regenerate Song Energy. Your Diva Points reward at the end will be quadrupled.

If you feel that you're not skilled enough to avail of the latter two Challenge Items, I'd recommend using シャイターゲット (Shy Target) or サバイバル (Survivor), however if you're up to the challenge, you should definitely make use of either サバイバル S (Survivor S) or COOL マスター (Cool Master) as using these more daring Challenge Items will yield you much more Diva Points and as a result the grind will be reduced drastically. Using these Challenge Items on Hard Mode can reward you with 100,000+ Diva Points. Upon purchasing the final Module, your trophy will unlock upon backing out to the menu prior.

[Get all DIVA room events]

Inside the DIVA Rooms, there are a total of 79 events across all six rooms. The majority of these can be unlocked with any character, however there are quite a few which are limited to one specific character. To earn these events, you must purchase a certain item, and depending on what it is, either place it in the room and interact with it or give it to the Vocaloid as a gift. To place the item in the DIVA Room, press :triangle: when not interacting with the DIVA Room's Vocaloid and then select the first option in the sub-menu. There are four options to choose from in the next menu; Room Theme, Furniture, and Decorations and Shop. The majority of items tied to events are in the Decorations section. In here, find the event item you are looking for, press :circle: and then decide where to place it in the room. Once this is done and the item is placed and ready to use, select the third option in the main DIVA Room menu, then select whether to look at the large item area (wall) or the small item area (shelf). Select the item and the event will then kick in. For a full list of events, check here.

There are some important notes to be made regarding a few events:

  • Events 24-26 regarding the fortune slips are luck-based. There is no set order and the event is randomly played. You will have to keep buying and using them on Vocaloids to get all three if they do not unlock immediately.
  • Events 53-58 regarding the Vocaloid writing calligraphic Kanji are luck-based. There is no set order and the event is randomly played. You will have to keep buying and using them on Vocaloids to get all six if they do not unlock immediately.
  • Events 62-73 regarding the Vocaloids drawing each other are luck-based. There is no set order and the event is randomly played. You will have to keep buying and using them on Vocaloids to get all twelve if they do not unlock immediately.
  • Events 74-79 are regarding the Vocaloids birthdays as well as yours and there are two options to go about getting these events:
    • Switch the PS3 date to their birthday and give them their birthday cake.
    • Reach max Friendship level (Level 6) with the Vocaloid, then give them their birthday cake.

All events that have already been unlocked can be viewed again in the main DIVA Room menu by selecting the sixth option.

Switch between these screens repeatedly until you unlock the final artwork pieces. To keep track of your progress, purchase 'The Books of Paintings' in the furniture shop. To access it, enter any DIVA Room and select the fifth option in the main DIVA Room sub-menu, then the final option.

[Win the Rock, Paper, Scissors game without losing once]

In the DIVA Rooms, you have the option to play Jan Ken Pon with any of the Vocaloids. To do this, press :circle: when not interacting with the character to go into the zoom mode and rub their head thrice. There's a big chance that they will challenge you to a game of Jan Ken Pon. Now this game is similar to Rock Paper Scissors, however there is a bit more to it than just that. Firstly, you'll have the first half of the game, Rock Paper Scissors. Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper and paper beats rock, as you should know. In the second half, whoever won the first part will point either up, down, left or right and if the opponent looks in the same direction as you, you win. If you happen to cause a null game in either halves of Jan Ken Pon (a winner cannot be decided; i.e both players play rock) then you will simply play again. This does not affect your chances of earning the trophy.

Each Vocaloid ranges in skill in the game and many agree that Luka is the easiest to win against. However, others believe that Rin is the easiest. Playing Jan Ken Pon increases friendship level so you can use this to earn the Level 6 friendship trophies, and you can decide who you personally find the easiest to win against. To earn the trophy, you need to win all three rounds of the Jan Ken Pon game without losing once.

[use kitchen timer for more than 3 minutes]

Just as the description implies, you'll need to purchase the kichen timer and use it for over three minutes. To purchase this, go to the Shop, pick the middle category and then the second option down on the right hand side. The kitchen timer can be found here for 2,000 Diva Points. Buy it, and then head to any DIVA Room. Go to the fifth option in the sub-menu and then choose the kitchen alarm (the second option). Set the timer to anything over three minutes (3:01 is fine) and simply wait for it to chime. The trophy will unlock afterwards.

[Create one Edit Data]

For this trophy, you'll need to use PROJECT DIVA ƒ's unique Edit system to make one Edit Data to which you will later upload to the online servers, for the (S) エディットP (Edit P) trophy.

To create an Edit Data, go to the Edit menu at the main menu (left column; bottom option) and select the first choice so you can begin making a new Edit Data. Pick whichever song you please from here and press 'Yes' on the next screen. Your choice on the following screen is irrelevant, and then 'Yes' again. You're free to actually create an Edit Data, however if you're looking for a quick trophy then hit start and press the second-last option to save the Edit Data. The trophy will then unlock.

For this trophy, you'll have to download an Edit Data from the online servers and play it. To do so, you must first download one. Pick the second option down on the right from the main menu and then select the upper option, then after that the last option. Now, feel free to download any Edit Data you wish. Back out to the main menu and now pick the top-left option. From here, pick the rightmost category. This is where all your downloaded Edit Data is stored. Find your downloaded Data (assuming you downloaded more than one) and before playing, press :triangle: to make it your 'favourite' (a requirement for the trophy). Finally, select the data, pick a song, then sit back and relax. At the end of the Edit Data the trophy should unlock.

Thanks. This game is so fun, ordered it weeks ago and finally got it today, but I'm having so much fun just playing about in Miku's room I've barely done anything else. Her facial expressions are just too adorable :3 This guide should be useful for all the stuff I don't get naturally, since some title names are pretty vague like エスパー

I agree, the DIVA Rooms are probably the best feature in the game :)

And I hope the guide helps you, please ask if you have any trouble!

 some people really do like to interact with the vocaloids!!!!

I gave a small look on the guide and I would like to say "nice work" :p

and your comment on the cheat-codes...in-game help items fail the songs is kinda misleading since not all help items fail the song (and you suggest to use some items in the roadmap to grind for points). Other thing is I didn't saw a comment about some trophies only popping when you go back to the menu, some people like myself would think they made something wrong since the trophy didn't popped, like the Esper trophy mentioned.

Damn, meant to say 'some in-game help items' :p

And okay, I'll add that in.

Pffft Diva rooms were boring

Anyhoo, the previous guide had

Which (if still working) were very helpful for me. Maybe you could add them in to the new guide :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Had a quick question on Modules...you mention one of the hidden requires me to complete a song with each vocalist as the lead singer 10 times (per vocalist), is this by manually picking a specific vocalist, or does repeating a song with the pre-set lead singer count towards it as well?

Hmmm, I think I understand your question... and I believe the answer is a pre-set vocalist. So say you did Weekender Girl 7 times (Hatsune Miku being the default), I'm pretty sure you could just do Weekender Girl 3 more times and you'd unlock her 10-song Module. Is that what you mean? :)

Yes that answers my question thanks. To expound on what you said though, is it possible to manually choose another singer for Weekender girl and do it another 10 times to unlock another 10-song Module?

Now I'm not totally sure on that, I wouldn't know if the game would count that towards the other singer or still count it towards the default singer. I'd assume the latter though. It's probably best just to keep all characters in their default songs to be safe. :)
