ROAD MAP

Overview:

-Estimated trophy difficulty: 6/10

-Offline: 18 (1(S), 17(B))

-Online: 2 (2(B)) - Unobtainable, due to server closure.

-Approximate amount of time to 100%: 15-20 hours

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2

-Missable trophies: None

-Glitched trophies: 3 (Data Miner, 00101010, Overclocked)

-Cheats: No cheats

Introduction:

Gravity Crash is a 2D shooter game, with a non-traditional movement scheme. In the open air, your ship is affected by gravity and will automatically fall down unless you compensate for it. Alternatively, when you are in water, the mechanics are reversed and your ship becomes buoyant and will float. The controls are not the most responsive, so it takes a little bit getting used to, as you will die if you barely touch an object and your shield :l1: doesn’t always respond quickly. Once you have a decent feel for the game, the trophies are not too hard. Unfortunately, there are a few glitches and issues that you need to be aware of if you are going for 100%.

Note: I recommend that you play the game with the following control settings:

Shield on Manual – This gives you complete control over it and it will automatically regenerate on its own when not in use. If you use the automatic setting, you can only regenerate the shield by collecting fuel crystals (not optimal).

Shooting on Dual Stick – It takes a little getting used to, since you are constantly moving, but with this option you can shoot in a different direction than you are facing. A good trick with this setting is to shoot where you think the enemy will be – if you try shooting directly at something you will most likely miss as they will have moved by the time your shot gets there. Also, your ship movement affects the trajectory of your bullets, so pay attention to that.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete All Training Lessons

First, play through “Pilot Training.” You will get a trophy for it and learn the basics of gameplay.

Step 2: Complete the Campaign, Find the Collectibles

I highly recommend that you go for all the collectibles the first time you go through Campaign Mode for a number of reasons. First, there is a very lax continue system, so you can keep continuing as much as you want. Second, there is no attrition in the game, meaning you keep all your progress even if you have to continue (i.e. everything you’ve completed in the level is still complete when you continue, even up to the damage you've caused enemies). Third, you can go back and mop up missed collectibles in Planet Mode, yes, but when you do that, you only get one chance at the level - there are no continues in Planet Mode. So depending on the level you missed a collectible on you may have a very tough time getting the collectible and completing the level in one game (trust me on this). And last of all, it will give you much-needed practice for the Mega Points trophy on your second playthrough.

How you choose to manage the collectibles is entirely up to you, just remember there are no continues in Planet Mode. At the minimum, though, you should get all the artifacts the first time so that you unlock all the hidden planets.

This first playthrough should net you all the Campaign trophies, as well as most (if not all) of the Collectible trophies and most of the General Gameplay trophies. Please see the below FAQ for some good walkthrough info, along with locations of all artifacts and nodes, and counts of gems and crewmen for each level. This FAQ is linked here with permission from the author, ScaredLilBunny: LINK

Additionally, there are two ways to do this first step: with or without the save game glitch. Whether you want to glitch is up to you, but it really only helps with Overclocked since you will need to collect all the artifacts anyway to unlock the hidden planets.

It’s a good idea to make a backup of your save data (on a USB Flash drive) after every planet or two that you complete. You will have to exit back to the XMB to do so, but it will save you a lot of heartache later if you inadvertently get glitched further into the game.

Some additional info on the glitch from JAW, the developers:

Hi,

We are sorry that this issue is still in Gravity Crash.

You *MUST* go into a campaign level before going into Multi-Player, Play Custom Levels OR the Editor. If you do this you will NOT get the issue.

Basically, when you exit these areas back to the main menu the save game is updated; the trouble is the save game is ONLY loaded when you enter the Campaign section.

Something that’s very important if you are doing this without the glitch – do not “Cancel” when asked to continue. When you lose all your lives, you have the option to continue or quit. You will be given the choices: Accept or Cancel. If you select “Cancel,” all your Campaign stats will be erased and trophies will glitch (see next section). You can, however, quit in the middle of a game at any time (pressing :start: and selecting “Quit Game”) without harming your save.

How to do the save data “glitch”

Start Campaign normally and play through a planet to completion. Start a second planet and when you run out of lives, select “Cancel” when asked to continue. Then go back to the main menu and exit the game to the XMB. Fire the game back up and go back into Campaign mode. All the planets in that first system should be unlocked and your existing stats (for whatever planets you did complete) will be gone.

Play through any planet and make sure you activate the node and collect the artifact in it. Once you complete the planet, you should be awarded with 00101010 and Overclocked even though you didn’t meet the requirements. Nice, eh? However, now you won’t be able to get the Data Miner trophy.

So after you get those two glitched trophies, exit the game and delete your save data. Start the game again, begin a new Campaign and play as normal, without quitting when your game is over. Now you can get Data Miner when you get all Artifacts in a system.

Step 3: Collectible and General Trophy Clean Up

If you still have collectible or general trophies once you finish the Campaign, finish them now. Use the FAQ linked in Step 2 if needed and replay the necessary planets in Planet Mode. If you didn’t glitch Overclocked, do it now in Planet Mode.

Remember, these trophies cannot be done on a user-created level.

Step 4: Online Trophies - Unobtainable, due to server closure.

There are two online trophies, I Made This! and Systems Analyst, which are community-type ones a la LittleBigPlanet. There is a level editor under the Single Player menu in which you can create your own level and upload to the Gravity Crash servers, and you’ll need to get your level rated and rate other users’ levels. Check the Boosting Thread if you need to boost these.

Step 5: The “Mega Points” Trophy

You should save the Mega Points trophy for last, after everything else is complete. You will need to do this trophy in a new Campaign. Your score is accumulative across each planet, so the target score for this trophy must be reached in a single game without using a continue (which resets your score). Try to complete each planet as quick as you can without dying. You get bonus points for coming in under the recommended time. Since you’ve already played through the game and don’t care about collectibles, it should be much easier to get through each planet. As security, I suggest you backup your save data after successfully completing each planet without dying. That way if you screw something up, you can revert back to that save file and try again.

TROPHY GUIDE

Campaign Trophies

These trophies will unlock as you play through Pilot Training / Campaign Mode for the first time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Guidance Software Approved (B)

Complete all training lessons

Select “Single Player” at the Main Menu and then select “Pilot Training” – you will play through a few training lessons and the trophy unlock when you have completed them all.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Obsolete Technology (B)

Defeat any boss

You will get this on planet Akwia in the Basix system (last planet in the first system). Beat the boss to complete the planet and get the trophy. It’s really easy, just shoot it in the center eye a few times.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/20.jpg End-Of-File (S)

Finish the single player campaign game

There are a total of 5 systems in the game, each with 7 planets (5 normal, 1 hidden, 1 boss). Complete all 5 systems and this trophy is yours. You do not have to complete the hidden planets to get this.

Collectible Trophies

These trophies are for collectibles found in Campaign / Planet Modes.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Data Miner (B)

Unlock any secret level

Each system has a secret level (hidden planet). Each will unlock when you find all 5 artifact pieces on the non-boss planets in the system. See 00101010 for more details.

NOTE: This trophy can be glitched. See Step 1 in the Road Map for more details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Hyperlink (B)

Activate every node in the game, including those in secret levels

There are 35 nodes in the game, one for every planet. To get all these you will have to get all the artifacts (which unlock hidden planets). Do this during your Campaign run, if possible. See the FAQ linked in the Road Map for the node and artifact locations.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Shiny Trinkets (B)

Collect a total of 10 purple gems across different levels

There are 30 purple gems in the game, mostly in systems 3, 4 and 5, so there are plenty to go around. See Cache Hit for more info.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg 00101010 (B)

Collect all artifact pieces

There are 25 artifact pieces in the game, five for each system. There are no artifacts on hidden or boss planets. Do this during your Campaign run so you unlock all the hidden planets. See the FAQ linked in the Road Map for the node and artifact locations.

NOTE: This trophy can be glitched. See Step 1 in the Road Map for more details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Cache Hit (B)

Find all gems in every level

There are hundreds of gems scattered across the 35 planets, in colors of green, orange, blue and purple. You will need to find all of them for this trophy. If you miss any during the Campaign, you can get them in Planet Mode later on, but you should do them all if you can during Campaign. There are no continues in Planet Mode, so in that mode you have to get them all and finish the level in a single game - which can be quite tough for some of the later planets.

See the FAQ linked in the Road Map for the gem quantities of each planet. The locations of the gems are not listed, since the vast majority of them are out in the open and easily found if you explore each level to completion. However, there are a few levels where gems are hidden inside breakable walls or in areas that you cannot backtrack to, which means you might have to redo them in Planet Mode. These are the planets you need to take special note of:

Bonoso (3.6) – Gems hidden in walls

Magmassen (4.3) – Cannot backtrack whenever you allow the lava to rise

Gravhaagen (4.4) – Gems hidden in walls

Shoyukai (5.1) - Need to do some backtracking to get all green gems

Kurozu (5.2) - Gems hidden in walls

Teleki (5.4) - Need reflective shot to destroy shields that guard gems

Orima (5.5) - Gems hidden in walls

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/01.jpg Feeble Humans! (H)(B)

Rescue 50 stranded crewmen

There are some 55 crewman stranded across various planets. Not every planet has crewmen on it. They will be little green dudes walking around on a level surface, waving at you. To rescue them you need to land nearby and they will enter your ship. To land, slowly lower your ship to the level surface, nose facing up. If you do it right the landing gears on your ship will extend. Be careful not to tilt too much or you will crash and explode.

You can kill the crewmen and miss them completely, but they can be found in Planet Mode as well. Like other collectibles, however, I recommend you do them during your Campaign run.

General Gameplay Trophies

These trophies can be acquired at any time in Campaign or Planet modes. They cannot be acquired in a user-created level.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg 8 Bits of Destruction (B)

Kill 255 gun or missile turrets

Self-explanatory. If you destroy every turret you come across, you will get this one just by playing through the Campaign. I got it on Subhaan (planet 4.2, in the Noort system).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Power Saving Mode (B)

Complete 'Norova' level without refuelling or dying

This one is a little tricky. If you wait until you’ve played through most of the Campaign you won’t have a problem with this one. Play Norova in Planet Mode and do not die or pick up a fuel crystal. Be patient and let gravity do the work for you whenever possible. Ignore everything else and focus on the goal for the planet, killing turrets where necessary. You will probably only have about 1/4 of your fuel left when you finish – don’t let the low fuel alert distract you, take your time and you’ll get this in a few tries.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Exception Handler (B)

Refuel your ship after the fuel depleted warning message is displayed

This is very easy. Shoot a crystal to get some fuel crystals to float in front of it. Then just wait and let your fuel deplete until it’s completely gone. Once that happens the warning message will display and you’ll have 10 seconds to refuel before you die. When the message goes up, grab the fuel crystals you prepped and the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Passive Resistor (B)

Complete 'Vectora' level without firing a single shot

This trophy is very easy. The goal on the planet is just to collect 8 orange gems. So there’s really no need to shoot at all. Take your time, collect the gems and complete the planet without firing.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Overclocked (B)

Beat the recommended time on 10 levels

This is not too hard. It’s easier to do this on the first 10 levels in the game, as they are much easier to complete. Make note of the target time when you start up each level in Planet Mode. Play through the level a few times until you have it memorized, then try to beat the time. Focus only on the necessary goal and ignore everything else. Many can be done in a few tries if you are halfway decent at the game.

NOTE: This trophy can be glitched. See Step 1 in the Road Map for more details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Out-Smarted (H)(B)

Let a homing missile chase you until it runs out of fuel

A good planet to do this on is Akwia (1.7, in the Basix system). There will be a couple of rocket launchers at the top; have one fire a missile at you. Let the missile follow you counter-clockwise around the large section of rock in the center (above the pit that leads to the boss). As you go along, let the missile stay close and don’t cut the corners too quickly (or the missile will veer into the rock). The missile will run out of fuel and crash during the 3rd time around.

Another option is Heliaal (4.7, in the Noort system). There's a huge pyramid in the center that houses the boss. To either side of the pyramid opening are two rocks with 4 missile turrets each. They will fire missiles at you, of course. There's a huge open area around the pyramid... plenty of space to fly around with the missiles chasing you.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Within Acceptable Parameters (H)(B)

In manual shield mode, save yourself with only 5% of the shield remaining

I got this one without trying, and you probably will too, since you should be playing with manual shield controls. Basically you need to destroy an enemy while you only have 5% of your shield remaining.

If you’re trying to get this on purpose, turn on your shield and let it drain almost to nothing. Then kill an enemy when it’s almost gone, preferably a gun turret that is shooting at you. The last bit of your shield power should block the shot and if you kill the enemy the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Retro Fitted (B)

Have rear, side and 3-way fire simultaneously

Only one planet, Aquoort (4.5, in the Noort system), contains all 3 weapon pickups. Besides that, they are normally spread across planets (never more than two on the same planet), so if you do this early you’ll need to stockpile them and complete the planets in as few shots as possible. Once you have all three pickups at the same time, fire once and the trophy will pop.

There are two places where you can get this the easiest:

System 4 (Noort)

This is probably the easiest way, if you can make yourself wait until later in the game. The fifth planet in this system, Aquoort, contains all three pickups needed for this trophy. The side and 3-way pickups are above water and easy to get, one on the right side in a cave, the other at the far top left of the map (near the node). Don't grab them immediately, though. Kill all the enemies you can in between and figure out the path through the water maze in the bottom left part of the level. You'll need to hit a switch in the bottom left room in order to get access to the top left room that holds the artifact and the rear shot. Once you do that, get the rear shot, make your way back out of the maze and then pick up the other two (side and 3-way). You can do it the opposite way, but make sure you know the way through the maze first, as you will need to spend a lot of shots on the buttons that open the gates to get to the rear pickup.

System 1 (Basix)

Since you don’t need to shoot a lot at the beginning and the levels are easy, the first system is also a good place to get this. It will have to be done in Campaign mode so that your weapons carry over from planet to planet. Remember, fire as little as possible once you start collecting the pickups. Get the 3-way shot on Eazia (1.1), then get the side shot on Zeeta (1.2). After that you can do either Vectora (1.3) to replenish 3-way shot or Effendia (1.4) to replenish side shot. Rear shot can be found on Abyssia (1.5). When you get there you should have at least 20 shots for the other two at the minimum.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg Mega Points (H)(B)

Gain a score of 1,048,576

This is by far the toughest trophy in the game. You'll need to get this in Campaign because your score will be carried over from planet to planet as long as you don't lose all your lives. Start a new Campaign and try your best to not die. If you die, quit the level (remember, don't select "Cancel" after losing all your lives, it will glitch your save) and restart it. I highly recommend you make a backup of your save file after every completed planet without a death.

Here are some general tips that might help on this trophy:

  • Practice some of the easier levels in Planet Mode and get good at going through them quickly. You get lots of bonus points if you complete a planet under the recommended time.
  • Go slow. Let gravity and water do the work for you and don't go through the levels super fast - you'll waste extra fuel trying to slow down.
  • Don't completely destroy the refueling crystals. They will regenerate over time and basically give you unlimited fuel as long as you manage it properly.
  • If you used up your shield, land on an even surface or just float on the surface of water and wait for it to build back up again. You won't use any fuel if you're just sitting there.
  • Use angles and line-of-sight to your advantage when taking out turrets and stationary enemies. There are many instances where you can hit an enemy from a distance but they can't reach you.
  • Don't worry about hard to reach items that are not important (like a green gem or crewman). Ignore them and focus on getting points in a safe and easy manner.

Once you reach a score of 1,048,576, you will get this trophy upon finishing out the Campaign (it posts your highest score across all games in the playthrough). You need to complete Campaign for the trophy to pop.

Online Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg I Made This! (B)

Create and publish a level then have it rated by 5 users

Unobtainable, due to server closure

Use the level editor to create a simple level. It can be super basic. Once finished, upload to the Gravity Crash servers. Then get 5 different users to vote for your level. Check the Boosting Thread if you need someone to help you with this one. Once you have 5 votes, the trophy will pop up the next time you start the game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/289/11.jpg System Analyst (B)

Find 5 user created levels you like, and rate the creators

Unobtainable, due to server closure

This is easy. From the main menu select “Single Player,” then “Play User Generated Levels.” You can choose between “Highest Ranked” and “Most Recent” – pick whatever you like and start the level. Once it has begun, you can just press :start: and select “Vote for Creator.” You can quit the level afterward; there’s no need to complete the level. Do this for 5 different user levels and the trophy is yours.

You can also check out the Boosting Thread if you’re feeling altruistic and do the trophy while helping others on the I Made This! trophy.

Any way to stop playing the Campaign Mode & return the next day without having to start the game all over from the very beginning?

I just read every single thread in GameFAQs' game board & only one asked about this & no answer of any type anywhere was given. I also read this entire thread & still haven't found an answer.

I don't have the time to play this game from absolute start to absolute finish. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me out here

EDIT: Fantastic guide BTW! Thanks much for putting all this info together =)

Of course, whenever your game is over it will automatically save your progress. Just quit while you're in the middle of a game (pause and select quit/exit). Don't quit on a game over screen, as you may glitch your save.

So when the game is over, don't select Cancel if you want to quit. Continue the game, then pause and quit.

Lame... I bumped into the glitch completely by accident... Glad I looked on here before continuing to see what was up or I'd be screwed with Data Miner. I can't believe a game can be released with such a basic glitch! Kinda makes me not want to bother playing it, but the completist in me won't let me quit now.

How far were you when you hit it? I had done the first two systems, was quite annoying to redo all that but I enjoyed the game enough to restart.

So I found getting all the gems, artifacts, and nodes relatively challenging to be honest. I thought I'd ask a few questions before I decided to attempt the mega points trophy.

  1. The in-game instructions indicate that once you activate a node, it will remain activated in subsequent playthroughs. From my testing, this does not appear to be the case. Does anyone know what that means?
  2. When going for this trophy, do I need to make sure I activate nodes and get artifacts to unlock secret levels?
  3. Should I be focusing on beating levels quickly or destroying as much as I can?
  4. At what planet do people typically achieve this score?

If you're going for that trophy, take it slow and destroy/collect everything you can. The later levels have a lot more stuff in them so your score will jump exponentially later on. Use the other tips in the guide and make sure you don't destroy the fuel crystals completely whenever you shoot them for fuel (so they regenerate). I think most people get it in the last system.

I attempted the trophy myself, but got a little frustrated with it and I was tired of the game at that point, so I never finished it.

Getting all gems is tough, especially if you have to get any missed ones in Planet Mode.

Thanks for the reply. I'm having a tough time figuring out where points are coming from. For instance, on level 1-4 I got 11k points, but when the level ended I got 1500 points each for 2 crewman I picked up, and then I got 1k points for the node, and then I got 5k points for...??? Perhaps something to do with getting perfect on a level?? I'm trying to figure out what to focus on, but I imagine I'm thinking way too much about this and just getting through the levels without dieing is probably good enough.

The bulk of the points come in the last two systems, so don't worry. You get bonuses for collecting everything (not to mention unlocking the other planets for more potential points) so do that as much as possible. And yes, don't die. If you die, quit and restart the level. Your campaign score will still be intact and lives will reset as long as you don't get a "game over." Make backups of your save often.

You also get a bonus for beating the recommended time, but don't bother with that aside from the early levels; you can get enough without having to stress out about speedruns the entire way. I just realized in the roadmap that I mention to try and do this as fast as you can... that shouldn't be there, it should be the other way around, focusing on collectibles. I'll fix that.

Well, just finished the 3rd galaxy and I have 517k points. I missed 1 green gem and 1 purple gem, but I destroyed everything else, think I killed on crewman too by accident. Oh, and on one of the planets I did a speed run since that was more beneficial with points. I have 7 ships left and the 4th and 5th galaxies... Do I have enough points to get the trophy if I continue?

Just finished the 4th system and I have 10 ships and 771,810 points. I think it should be smooth sailing from here. :) At this point I can die once or twice on each planet and still be relatively fine. Ironically enough I've been getting all the gems, nodes, and artifacts on this run as well which made my first run pointless for the cache trophy. In all honesty though, Vyrastas was right about using it as a practice run so I guess it wasn't pointless.

EDIT: Just finished the 5th system with 1,211,720! I pretty much just went for everything. I unlocked all secret planets along the way and hit all nodes as well. I hardly ever used my special weapon, just didn't seem beneficial enough to me. Now to wrap up the remaining trophies. :p

EDIT: 100% :)

Nice job, skippy, sounds like you mopped up in the last system.

Thanks! I'm ranked 81 and I got perfect on almost every level so speed runs must be the way to get REALLY high scores. You seem to get an extra guy every 100k points and there are like 15 spread throughout the game so you can get a lot of extra ships. Not sure what I'd add to the guide other than maybe some target scores to shoot for after every system, but I don't have the scores for the first few systems. I think I had 80k after the first system, but not sure about the second. That heavy gravity planet is one where it's definitely acceptable to lose one or 2 lives simply because of the extra fuel it takes to move your ship around! I have yet to collect and kill everything on that world on one life!

Strange thing happened to me today. I've beaten the game without selecting Cancel in my Continues (so I never lost my progress, I mean my save never get glitched).

Today I was trying to get the Overclocked trophy, so I went to Planet Mode (where I saw all the planets of the game unlocked, so it was ok 100%) and after doing the 1st level below the time, the trophy popped. No need for the other 9 ones...

I thought this may happen only with a glitched save, but in my case I never selected Cancel on the continue and never glitched my save at all... is this normal even with that in mind? The only trophy that lefts is the 1 million points one (apart from the 5 votes one, check Boosting Thread please ^^), and I want to be sure if there's something bad with my game before starting that one.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your game, either you beat some of the recommended times during your first playthrough without realizing it or it just glitched some other way. The glitch I talk about in the guide unlocks Overclocked once you complete a planet, whether you met the time requirements or not.

Since you have to start a new game for Mega Points, you should be fine.
