Heists were supposed to release tomorrow... Won't happen. And we have no word on any SP DLC at all.

That's likely because there never will be any. The only DLC we will probably be having are heist's if that ever comes....... R*'s just all talk.

I want dlc that makes the map bigger. More areas to explore, I remember them saying thats there plan

Where? The map is already fucking huge as it is, I really can't see them making it any bigger.

Well I think the Las Vegas map would be a nice addition is all, yes it is huge, but from San Andreas, the Las Vegas inspired city was my favorite of all 3 from that game.

Rockstar wont expand anything in this game. Maybe in GTA 6 we'll see the ability to go to other cities although I doubt it cause it might be just Vice City.

I have been waiting for Vice City the whole time, I loved Vice City so much it was one of my favorite places ever out of all the cities.

  • 2 weeks later...

It's possible that after the debacle(s) that was Max Payne 3 DLC and Season Passes, that they just gave up on the idea of selling minor DLC packs.

So, we'll likely get something huge like the two GTA4 DLCs or Undead Nightmare.

There's strong evidence for a gambling add-on (what's the race track for?) or something sports related (why can't we go in the stadium?). If we get gambling, we might get a Vegas-inspired mini region (like Yankton) that you access via the airport (R* has hinted at using the airports to get from city to city in GTA Online).

I want a casino, that will bring in competitive multiplayer modes like poker. I wish they'd make two separate modes.. One, high stake, buy in with real GTA Online Cash (so people actually play poker and not go all in on every hand), and a "free" mode that you play for fun and everybody wins, but 1st place gets bonus cash.

Also, bring in slots, blackjack, anything you would see in an actual casino and have players use their GTA:O money to play them. I absolutely hate gambling in real life (im 23 y/o and have never bought a lottery ticket). I will never take or make a bet, but I think this would be a fun mode in GTA:O.

I also want them to bring back bowling. It was in GTA IV (albeit, kind of a bad mini-game) and not in GTA V. Simple games like basketball should be easy to throw into the game too.

I want more things to do while in GTA:O. Running around and killing people non-stop gets extremely boring after about 10 minutes.

This should have been included from the beginning. Really don't know why that didn't happen, and also would have given them to go ahead and release the heist DLC, since a casino would have been perfect.

This ... would have given them [the] go ahead [to] release the heist DLC, since a casino would have been perfect.

After reading Take-Two's earnings report to investors, I'm wondering if 2015 will be Rockstar's year for major GTA5 stand-alone content instead of a new game - because we haven't seen that yet.

However, last year (2014) was the first year that Rockstar hasn't put out a completely new game (or stand-alone disc-based DLC add-on) pretty much in it's entire history. That's across all the R* studios...

As great as the HD-remaster of GTA5 was last year, it wasn't a new game. And GTA5 for PC wont be a new title this year either. Over the past ~15 years Rockstar has been able to manage putting out at least one hugely-hyped stand-alone new release per year plus often dropping remasters, DLC's, and ports for the old games all in the same year.

It's possibly that they could be going to a tick-tock strategy for new games, with the 'off' year going to remasters, ports, and online content. Even if that's true, we'ld still be due for a new game sometime this year. I just don't think that a slow drip of seasonal free DLC for a 1+ year old game will be able to match the hype (and revenue) of a new game.

Whatever happens, it seem like Rockstar is slowing down, which make sense considering how AAA's aren't getting easier to make and they've already set the bar ridiculously high.

I think you're reading into this too much.

It's the first year with a new console, GTA V port was a satisfying port and a market that Rockstar would be silly not to tap into.

I think their first game on last gen was Table Tennis. If I'm not mistaken, I think Bully was a "port" which was an early release on last gen. Plus, Midnight Club was pretty early.

I think Rockstar will deliver a new game this year. They just needed a light load of work (porting GTA V) while working on a "next-gen" game. I hope I'm right.

Here's a Reddit-tier clarification..

Not saying the GTA5 port was unsatisfactory (in fact, it's probably the coolest port they've ever done since it added huge features). Not saying they shouldn't have done it.

Merely pointing-out that last year was the the first year in their history without a new game (and if they don't announce something soon it may very well be two years in a row). As a publisher, they've hyped and released at least one new game every year since their founding in 1998 (when the original Grand Theft Auto was released by DMA, which eventually became Rockstar North) usually using subsidiary studios that they control but sometimes as a publisher with third-party studios. Early on they often put out two AAA games in a single year.

Here's a partial list of the new AAA releases they've had each year (because i feel like procrastinating):

98 Grand Theft Auto

99 Grand Theft Auto 2

00 Midnight Club (Angel Studios which became Rockstar San Diego)

01 Grand Theft Auto III & Max Payne (with Remedy studios)

02 Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

03 Midnight Club II & Max Payne 2 (with Remedy studios)

04 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

05 Midnight Club 3 & The Warriors

06 Bully

07 Manhunt 2 *

08 Grand Theft Auto IV

09 GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City & GTA Chinatown Wars

10 Red Dead Redemption

11 L.A. Noire

12 Max Payne 3

13 Grand Theft Auto V

14 none

15 ?

* you could argue that '07 was a year without a AAA release since Manhunt 2 was not released for Xbox360 or PS3.

But seriously, nothing new came out of Rockstar Games in '14 for the first time in forever (which reinforces my opinion that 2014 was probably one of the worst years in gaming and I'm glad - with the exception of Diablo III on the PC - i'm glad i took the year off).

Personally, I think it's probably a good thing to space them out so they can focus on bigger, open world games with strong multiplayer like Red Dead Redemption instead of doing linear games like Max Payne 3 or putting-out pretty great but not-entirely-finished games like L.A. Noire - which was done by a third-party developer that Rockstar didn't control.

I realize i'm "reading-in" to a lot of this - and it's just speculation - but it seems like with this last gen.. and the level of production and polish that's expected - that no matter how many studios Rockstar acquires, everyone just ends up working on the 1-3 core projects that Rockstar/Take-Two are focusing on. It's like they've gone far past the point of diminishing returns.

i think your research my be wrong. Before I posted, I looked into it. I agree that every year the Rockstar has published a game since forever (Team Bondi did L.A. Noire, but it was published by rockstar)

I'm just pointing out that their first year games last gen weren't really games I would consider as "Rockstar" games. For the first year last gen, I only found Table Tennis and some conflicting information about Bully. Like, Bully was on PS2, but then later was ported to ps3/360.

GTA V port was probably pretty significant while still working on their next gen game. I don't expect Rockstar to fall in to an "off-year" cycle. I'm sure more work went into porting GTA V (while maintaining GTA V online on ps3) than releasing Table Tennis first year for 360.

With all the studios Rockstar has, I can see them continuing their yearly releases. I know you don't consider GTA V a "new" game, but that doesn't mean that work didn't go into the port.
