Overview: Estimated platinum difficulty: 5/10, Vote Pending HERE. Offline Trophies: 39 (30(B), 6(S), 3(G)) Online Trophies: 4 (2(B), 1(S), 1(P)) - No longer possible due to server closure. Approximate amount of time to : 40+ Hours Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1+ Career, 1 ESPN Grand Slam Classics Mode. Missable Trophies: 24: All Career Trophies can be missable IF you skip the related event and/or you lose against your related opponent OR if you lose some tournament you will need to try again in the following season. Glitched Trophies: None. Does difficulty affect Trophies?: No, you can play in Rookie. Tricks and Cheats: None. Online Pass: Yes, but EA has disabled it and isn't needed to get access to the online portion of the game (4 trophies) so you CAN this title without a Pass. Thanks to XtremeTornado for the tip. Controllers: The game allow you to play with a Move Controller but I strongly recommend to play it with a dual shock controller with the Buttons option and NOT with the . Introduction: After some years of having Virtual Tennis & Top Spin as the only tennis options to play on PS3, arrives now a new title: Grand Slam Tennis 2 (well, new on the PS3 because the first one was only released for the Wii). The game has great gameplay and a good menu index, as EA does with their titles. The graphics show a great engine behind them which rarely glitches but you may have some issues Online, where by some mysterious way your rival can hit the ball with his racquet from almost at 10ft way from the ball :S. Anyway the game it's good, very entertaining playing the first two Career's years, but once you start the 3rd the things become bored and a bit hard, just if you are an extreme Platinum trophy hunter or if you like very much the tennis you will be able to finish the entire career. It has other menus available which will keep you for a while deep into the game, sadly some modes doesn't have any trophies attached and lose a bit of attention. In general terms being a trophy hunter or not but If you want to play/test another tennis's game, then you should try with this one, practice, play and win to be the new "Virtual-Federer" around here. Walkthrough: Step 1: Customize the sliders & Download/Share a player The first thing to do is to custom the difficult and the duration of the matches, follow this: Main Menu My Tennis (Last Option) Settings Changes Rules: Sets (1) Games (3) Last Set Tie Break (Yes) Difficulty (Rookie) Once done it's time to tackle two easy and fast trophies: Sharer Popular Step 2: Complete the Training Lessons I really strongly recommend you to complete the Training Tennis School, which includes 15 Lessons separated into 3 Main Classes: Ground Strokes (5 Lessons) Net Play (5 Lessons) Service (5 Lessons) Once complete it you should have an entire clue about the specific shots and moves and you will gain the "You School Master" Trophy. If you are facing troubles with some moves here are the controls: Dualshock Controls (Not Recommended): Flat Slice + TopSpin + Plus + Arcade - Serve Controls: Movement/Aim Shots Hold , , Or Power Up Release , , Or Toss Ball Flat Serve TopSpin Serve Or Slice Serve Arcade - Basic Controls: Movement/Aim Shots Flat Shot TopSpin Shot Hold & Release TopSpin With Power Or Slice Shot Hold & Release Or Slice With Power Arcade - Advanced Controls: Movement/Aim Shots Hold + Flat LOB Hold + TopSpin LOB Hold + Or Slice LOB Hold + Or Drop Shot Step 3. Complete your first career as Male or Female (10 Seasons) The career mode is located in the Main Menu, you can create a new player OR start with a downloaded player, the stats will be the same. Once you pick a Female or Male you should work toward the entire 10 seasons playing ALL tournaments and Grand Slam tournaments, in this step you should get a bunch of trophies and your main goal is to get "The Legend" which is reach the No.1 Rank and finish your career as it. This step is the most time consuming in the game and you will spend like 3-4 hours each season. Also in this step you need to play the Rivalry Matches which allow you to get the gear needed to gain the "Collector" trophy in this step. It's important that you pay attention in the Grand Slam brackets because you need to face some specific players in an specific Grand Slam and you must beat him/her, this will come in your natural progression on your 10 years career but this may be missable if you lose. This trophies related are 8: Beat Federer at Australian Open Beat Serena at Australian Open Beat Henin at the French Open Beat Borg at the French Open Beat Evert at US Open Beat McEnroe at US Open Beat Navratilova at Wimbledon Beat Sampras at Wimbledon Step 4: Play your 2nd career as the other side as Male or Female (skipping events) Once you complete your first career you need to start another career but his time with the other side, this means, if you complete your career as male, this time you need to pick a female, this is for the remaining trophies above. Now the things will become faster because you need to follow the brackets in the Grand Slam and if you see your rival lose against someone, you need to skip the tournament and go straight to the following needed, repeating the steps as you need until finally you get a chance with this player. Once you face him/her, you need to beat her/him for the trophy related. Step 5: Complete the ESPN Grand Slam® Classics Mode Once you have done with the Career Mode go to the ESPN Grand Slam Classic Mode located in the Main Menu. This mode is like a Highlights of the greatest moments in Grand Slam Tournaments along the History, you will face you opponent in some place in the real match, mostly at the final part of the match and you need to beat you opponent. Note that to gain access to another's Moments you should unlock them by gaining points earned with your victories and completing the Bonus Objectives in each match. In this step you will unlock the following trophies: Best of All Time Best of 2000 Best of 1990's Best of 1980's History Buff Step 6: Boost the Online trophies with a partner - No longer possible due to server closure. This step is straight forward and it's strongly recommended boost them with a partner for easiest and faster results. If you need a Partner try HERE. Your target are this 2 trophies: Friendly Competition Streak Step 7: Mop up This step is for complete the remaining trophies left like: Rocket Pair of Aces Boom Boom Plus any career trophy left, that you missed, starting another career and skipping all besides the related tournament/rival. Congratulations for the new you just have earned! Edited December 30, 2017 by Terminator Added a note regarding the recent server closure.

Winning or losing will unlock it. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1148/EC0.jpgThe Legend Career - Finish ranked #1 Missable: This is the most time consuming trophy in the entire game. You need to finish the 10 seasons seeded as #1 in the Rankings. Once you earn all the gear needed for the "Collector" trophy you should be able to skip the last seasons. You can make a Backup before skipping them just as a precaution. Your created or downloaded player will start at Rank 100 with a Rating of 35. The rating doesn’t matter at all and you shouldn’t aim to increase his/her stats because are useless for this trophy. If you win all the tournaments and Rivalry Matches you should be able to reach the #1 Rank between the 4th or 5th season. You need around 36,000 - 40,000 Career Points. The trophy won't pop until you have finished all 10 seasons, here is a tip from tennisman123 to do it faster: Get the trophy at end of year 10. I Backed up my data and skipped a few years, I stayed #1 for a few years. I think there is a certain amount of XP needed to stay #1. I reckon once all rackets and shoes are unlocked it may be possible to skip the last 2 - 3 seasons to make things a little quicker . If you are facing troubles with the Difficulty Jump after the 2nd season here are some other great tips from tennisman123: Don't serve and volley much, my advice is play from the baseline, take the ball early if you get the chance, only come to the net when you have your opponent on the run or off the court. At the next play, drop shot volley ( ) try and go back behind your opponent or to the open court. Hold the analogue stick left or right to get as much angle as possible . When your opponent drop shots hold or down and the analogue stick left or right to get a winner. Always use for returning serve make sure you hold down for a few seconds to get full power. If you want to serve and volley it's risky but slice serve with to get the ball out wide as far as you can and come in asap and hold down. In season 4 I think it will be very difficult to serve and volley as the A.I hits better returns, but than again my serve is only 30 lol a great serve may get a ton of aces and help with serve and volley tactics. Also, you can check some others tips in THIS thread. The career has some modes to pay attention: Pre-Tournament (includes 6 Rounds) Training (when you earn player attribute points) Exhibition (when you earn player attribute points or unlock gear-racquets in Rivalry Matches) Skip Event Important: Note that if you select Training you will automatically skip the rest of this options and you may miss some gears in the Rivalry Matches. I recommend to always do the Pre-Tournament, then the Exhibition Game (Rivalry Match) and just then select Training. Also here is a tip for XtremeTornado: ...doing training straight after a grand slam will NOT skip any other event before the next grand slam... Once you finish the training OR skip the event you will be prompted to the Grand Slam Tournament where you need to play and preferable win all 7 stages to conquer your Tournament-Trophy. The Grand Slams are: Australian Open Roland Garros (French Open) Wimbledon US Open The rest of the Tournaments NON-Grand Slam are: EA World Tour Brighton EA World Tour Dubai EA World Tour Shanghai EA World Tour Geneva Also, in the Career Main Menu if you click you will have access to the following options: My Performance & Tennis Store. Here you can check your personal progression of your career such: Objective List Season Time Line Career History Growth Chart My Stats Career Trophies In the store: Accessories & with Attributes Points Available http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1148/F6C.jpgCollector Career - Earn all racquets and shoes in Tennis Store Missable: For this one you need to acquire the entire set of racquets and shoes available around the seasons. For this one you need top play Pre-Tournaments (6 Rounds), complete the training lessons in career and play exhibition games, try to do no SKIP any event because you would miss this trophy at the end of your career. This trophy is unlocked AFTER the end of the 10th season. (Thanks Havok for the tip). Also, it's important to note that you can unlock this trophy in one Career, you will unlock all gears-racquets playing as Male OR Female. This means that if you start a career as Male you can have this trophy in his career, no women's career is needed to any gear. Here are two great reference in this matter provided by tennisman123 and Berny18: You unlock rackets / shoes / attribute points by winning rivalry and exhibition matches. Winning Grand Slam, tournaments etc gives you the xp points to make the unlocks available to win. It seems every 2,500 I get the chance to unlock something. The rackets and shoes improve your attributes, I'm only rated 54 I don't think attributes make much difference. Once I have earned everything I will back up my save and skip everything. To get #1 rank you need 38,000 xp points or something like than and to unlock everything should take 75,000 xp points, each time you skip an event you lose 225 points, it might be possible to skip to the next year and unlock things but I always gets messages at exhibition matches saying Federer shoe 1 unlock at 42,500 points, racquet 4 unlocks at a later point. For collector skipping is not an option: You need 5,000 carrier points to unlock a new racket or new shoes. Right now I am missing a single racket and the last shoes and it seems the last will unlock at 67,500 career points. If you skip and play only exhibitions you make like 3,500 per season which is not enough to get everything in 10 years. Playing all exhibitions and all grand slam tournaments (and of course winning those) nets approx. 8,000 points per season, so for collector you need to continue playing every calender week. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1148/518.jpgRocket Any Game Mode - Hit a 209 KMH (130 MPH) serve Select: Main Menu Singles Select Andy Roddick Start Match Once the match start and you have the serve try to Aim the shot in the peak of the crest (Holding button) and make a Flat Serve () in the middle and you should be able to hit the ball at 209/215 KPH pretty easy, rise and repeat if you fail. Do this deliberately by throwing your serve in the middle and when your opponent hits the ball, don't answer it. Do this 4 times and you will lose the game and your opponent will have the break serve. After this you need to break his/her serve and the trophy will pop. leptonic
Why do you need 2 playthroughs? I got all my trophies during 1 playtrough. You need to play 1 FULL career as male or female and ANOTHER (skipping unnecesary tournaments) with the other side because you can't play male v female in the same tournaments. In fact is like 1+ career mode. But thats just me. Edited March 23, 2012 by Squeek111

XtremeTornado
Great guide but there's a couple of things i've noticed that you should change. 1. You state that once you select training in career it skips the other events whereas you can have a combination of any of the 3 as long as it's 2 events (12 events in a year, 2 per quarter for pre-tournament, training and exhibition with the 3rd in the quarter being a grand slam tournament.), doing training straight after a grand slam will NOT skip any other event before the next grand slam. 2. There's "sliders" don't really matter except for the difficulty for the espn classics where all matches in there are based off of real tennis rules (1st to 6, tie breaker at 6-6, etc. etc. etc.). So there's no need to adjust anything there, it makes no difference to career either. 3. The online pass which isn't needed, the online pass was taken down from the store so it's free to play online.... Other reason I know this is true is because my copy is a rental and I was able to upload and download a tennis player off of their servers. So online pass isn't needed. 4. 4th and final thing is about the racquets and trainers, there seems to be about 14 (7 of each) starting with +4 attributes on both up to +10 on both with +1 increments on each... I'm not sure if this is correct as it's 2,500 for the 1st piece of equipment then there after it's 5,000 for each piece of equipment, the total points should end on 67,500 which I think was stated before. Just a few bits of extra info that I hope you don't mind adding/correcting but I did thoroughly enjoy reading through your guide, it helped alot as well... fulufulu
Thanks for the tips, added both... I have unlocked all rackets and trainers (with 68xxx career points) as well but I couldn't get the "Collector" trophy at the end of 10th year of career (skipped 8th, 9th & 10th year). Should I also need to unlock all "attribute point" as well? EDIT: finally I got the trophy "collector" after unlocked attribute point at 70000xp, no need to wait for finish of 10 years career Edited September 27, 2014 by BreadSkin
elseftoni83
Just recently got 10 online ranked wins for the streak trophy but it didn't pop, win streak is 10 but a few people did disconnect or quit on me. Do you know if this will affect if you get the trophy or if you have to win the games in 1 sitting.
rodriking
Hi guys, I started playing the career mode and just finished the first session, I went to check it out trophies in career mode and has a hint of "tennisman123" that says we can not skip any exhibition game to get all rackets and all the shoes, and I lost just one exhibition games why did not know that playing the training all the other stages jump straight to the grand slam. I did not want to return to play the first session so I'm need know if I will lose the trophy for it at the end of the season. I appreciate the personal help and sorry for bad english. kargorath
I just want to try and demystify 'The Collector' and 'The Legend' trophies. I feel in the guide as it is, things are a bit misleading. For example leptonic says: "I recommend to always do the Pre-Tournament, then the Exhibition Game (Rivalry Match) and just then select Training." This isn't possible. In between each Grand Slam (Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, US Open) you can do 2 of 4 things. They are Pre-tournament, Training and 2 x Exhibition matches. You can do any two of these options. You need to get to 70,000 points in Career mode. This will give you 7 pairs of shoes, 7 rackets and 140 attribute points in 10 point groupings. You will unlock each of the 28 items every 2,500 points. You must then win an Exhibition match as each unlocks. You will know whether you can gain an item or need more points to do so because when you click on Exhibition match it will either say: 'Unlock 10 attribute points' or 'Unlock 10 attribute points at "X" points'. If it is the latter you need more points to unlock the next item. My advice is to NEVER do the Pre-tournament. ALWAYS play an Exhibition match and then play another Exhibition match or do Training. Only choose Training if you feel you might struggle with the difficulty hike in the third season. ALWAYS do the rivalry match as this gets you more points than the standard Exhibition match. Using this method will net you the 70,000 points you need to unlock 'The Collector' by the beginning of the 8th season (this is assuming you always win the 4 Grand Slam events). The trophy will unlock straight away, not at the end of your career (as it incorrectly states in the guide). At this point you can now skip every tournament until the end of your ten year career without fear that you will lose your number one ranking. Other than this the guide was excellent. Sorry if this comes across as ungrateful as it doesn't intend to, I just had a hard time working out what I needed to do to get the trophy when I started this game off and had to start my career again as a result. Maybe I'm the only one who suffered any confusion. Now I have one hard-earned, shiny platinum trophy Edited September 27, 2012 by kargorath
