Introduction

For those two people that aren't familiar with Gran Turismo 5, it's first and foremost a driving simulation. This will be a lengthy and challenging Platinum. You either buy this game for the enjoyment or you don't. Renting is not an option if you want to Plat the game. Expect to put down 600+ hours to Plat this game, as long as your good enough. It's a great game for those that love cars and a very prestigious Platinum to have on your virtual shelve. To get this Platinum, the biggest challenges will be to get gold in every Special Event and the long grind it takes to reach LV 40 in A-Spec and B-Spec. The hardest part will be to get Gold on the Red Bull Challenge events, and you'll save yourself a lot of grief if you have a decent wheel for those.

Step One: Penniless and some easy trophies.

To save yourself some trouble, go for the "Penniless" trophy first. This means buying a Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91 from the Dealership and fit it with a Sports ECU from the Tuning Shop. See the "Penniless" trophy in the guide for details. Make sure you do this before doing anything else.

When you have done this, there are some easy trophies you can get first:

- Picture Exclusive

- Portraitist

- Take Your Honda Home & Data Analyst (you need a Honda for the first one)

- Proud Owner [No longer possible]

- Course Designer [No longer possible]

- Driving Music

This involves playing with the photo mode, course designer, personal music and more. As usual, see the trophy guide for specifics.

Step Two: Starting your career and saving money

During this step, you will start doing races in A-Spec and B-Spec mode, as well as doing Special Events and Licenses when they unlock. If you want tips on what cars to use, go to this thread. Keep in mind that if you're using the Race Series guide, you'll want to focus mostly on A-Spec first. A lot of people seem to have trouble with B-Spec mode. Getting a bit into A-Spec first will give you money and more cars, which in turn will set you up for B-Spec mode. When you start B-Spec mode, I suggest creating a hot-headed driver (towards the red). You should also keep this driver until you get the "The Air of Experience" trophy. See more details in the trophy guide.

While you continue to delve into your racing career, don't spend money you don't need to spend, until you get the "Multi-Millionaire" trophy for having a credit balance of 10 million Credits. If you find certain events difficult to get gold in, come back later. If there is an event you don't have a good enough car for, come back later when you have some more money. As long as you have something to do, don't buy a car just to complete the races in order. Keep in mind that at some point, you need to have 1,000 cars in your garage. So don't sell cars if you need money. Up until you reach level 21 in A-Spec, Special Events are a good way of earning both money and experience. At level 21, however, you will more than likely need to start grinding money and experience. Follow the "Money Making and Experience Grinding"-guide in this thread on how to do this effectively. At level 25 and onwards, look at the Endurance Race series guide for an overview of what Endurance races is worth most XP.

You need to reach the max level (40) in both A-Spec mode and B-Spec mode. A-Spec mode is where you drive yourself, and B-Spec is where you have someone drive for you and you will give orders. In B-Spec mode, your drivers also level up. You need to get one driver up to level 30 and to the peak of his career. More on that in the trophy guide.

Step Three: Getting the Formula Gran Turismo

When you reach LV 24 in either A-Spec or B-Spec mode, you have to start looking for the "Formula Gran Turismo" in the Used Car Dealership. This is a very rare Formula One Car that is only available in the Used Car Dealership* and it is required to do the Formula Gran Turismo World Championship in the Extreme Series. You need to be LV 24 in A-Spec or B-Spec mode to buy it. Make sure you have at least 5 million available and then start looking in the Used Car Dealership at least every 5 in-game-day. To speed it up, you may go into licenses and then load an event. Instead of starting the event, click on the arrow to the right. Continue to do this until you have loaded 5 different license tests. After doing that, head back to the Used Car Dealership which will now have a complete set of new cars. Make sure you don't advance more than 5 in-game-days without looking for this car. Each event you start advances one day. Either do the trick above or come back after every 5 race or event. If you see this car before you get the "Multi-Millionaire" trophy, buy it anyway.

*It seems that the Formula Gran Turismo will alway be in the Online Collector’s Dealership. Make sure you're signed in to PSN and take a look there. It costs the same there as in the Used Car Dealership.

Step Four: Getting Gold, collecting colors and getting 1,000 cars in your garage

When you have gotten the "Multi-Millionaire" trophy it is time to focus on the hard part of the game, getting gold in every event. This means getting gold in every race event (most likely both A-Spec and B-Spec), license and special events. If you haven't unlocked the "Loony Tune" trophy at this point, now is the time to spend lots of cash on Tuning parts for your cars. The rest of your money should be spent on getting 1,000 cars in your garage. Thankfully, you don't need to have 1000 unique cars, so feel free to buy the PDI Racing Kart in the Gran Turismo Dealership. I suggest buying cars in different colors until you get the "Colorful" trophy. You also get colors once a day if you are signed in. Refer to the trophy guide for tips.

Step Five: Miscellaneous

The rest of the trophies are a matter of looking at what you're missing and then looking at the guide for info on how to do them. Some of the trophies in this segment will probably require you to be a certain A-Spec level and or unlock tracks.

03.jpg Excellent Driver(S)

Reach A-Spec Level 40.

Getting to level 40 in A-Spec will require a lot of grinding. Until you get to LV 21, you should get the most you can out of Special Events and Licenses. You can only get experience for them once for each medal value, but at least Special Events give you a lot of it. From LV 21 you can start following the grinding guide in this thread. At LV 25 you should do Endurance Races to level up faster.

03.jpg Expert Manager(S)

Reach B-Spec Level 40.

Getting to level 40 in B-Spec mode will require a lot of grinding. When you reach level 25, you should do the Endurance races over and over again. Look at this thread on how much experience you'll get from each of the Endurance Races.

03.jpg Finale(S)

Reach the ending movie.

When you win the Gran Turismo World Championship (LV 14) in the Professional Series, this ending movie will unlock. You have to get back to the GT Life screen where one of the messages will say that you have unlocked this movie. Soon after the movie starts, this trophy will pop. Thanks to Splodge_277 for the tip.

03.jpg Grand Finale(S)(H)

Reach the long version of the ending movie.

When you win the Dream Car Championship (LV 24) in the Extreme Series, this ending movie will unlock. You have to get back to the GT Life screen where one of the messages will say that you have unlocked this movie. Soon after the movie starts, this trophy will pop.

(P) Special Events (P)

For a more in-depth guide to Special Events, check out Harry94's Special Events Guide.

04.jpg Red Bull X1 Challenge(B)(H)

Complete the 'Red Bull X1 Challenge' Special Event.

This challenge will unlock at LV 30 and has one main Entry event with 3 Time Trial events. You will drive the Red Bull X1, an imaginative car made by Red Bull and Polyphony for this game. You have to drive two laps at Monza, Nurburgring GP/F and Suzuka. The car is incredibly fast and this makes this challenge very hard. To get gold, you may need a good wheel for the job. If you're good enough with a controller, at least a bronze should be within reach and that is enough to unlock this trophy. You need gold for the "Gold Standard" trophy however.

My best tips would be to familiarize yourself with the car. If you get bronze in the 3 events or reach LV 35 in B-Spec, you get one to use in GT Mode. Use that car in all the races you participate in to get to know it better.

04.jpg Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge(B)

Complete the 'Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge' Special Event.

These Special Events unlock at Level 16. It has one entry event consisting of 3 Time Trial Events. If you have trouble with any of them, you can play the example replay. I personally found them quite easy to get gold in. You have to turn off Traction Control and also, make sure Active Stability Management (ASM) is off as well. For the third event, the one on snow, the driving line won't help you at all. It tells you to brake in places where you can go flat out. So you have to find your own pace here.

1. Toscana (Dirt)

2. Eiger Nordwand K Trail (Dirt and a little Tarmac)

3. Chamonix - Main (Snow)

04.jpg Grand Tour(B)

Complete the 'Grand Tour' Special Event.

These Special Events unlock at Level 13. It has one main event featuring 5 smaller events.

1. Time Attack on Eiger Northwand

- With a controller: TCS 7, Active steering Mild. Thanks to 3tse for the tip.

2. 2 Lap Battle on Monza

- First corner is key. Try to get in 3rd place allready by the first chicane.

3. Tuscan Night Race

- Driving Options: Turn on Active Stability Management (ASM)

4. Tuscan Time Trial

- Driving Options: Turn off Active Stability Management (ASM)

5. Rome City Course Road Race

- Driving Options: Turn on Active Stability Management (ASM)

- 3rd place is easily achievable on the first straight.

To unlock this trophy, you only need to get bronze in the events. The trophy will unlock when you get back to the GT Life menu.

04.jpg Gran Turismo Rally(B)

Complete the 'Gran Turismo Rally' Special Event.

These Special Events unlock at Level 10 and it has 3 main events that unlocks at Level 6, 15 and 20.

Keep in mind that you should use the correct set of tires for tarmac (regular tires), dirt and snow. Tires can be bought in the Tuning Shop. Also make sure that Active Stability Management (ASM) is turned off on dirt and snow.

Beginner (LV 6): 245 BHP or less.

Volvo C30 R-Design '09 - Cr. 42,000 at the Dealership.

Tuning: None, but if you struggle there is room for tuning.

Intermediate (LV 15): 345 BHP or less.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR P.P. '07 - Cr. 42,400 at the Dealership

Tuning:

Sports ECU - Cr. 1,000

Racing Air Filter - Cr. 450

Catalytic Converter: Sports - Cr. 500

Chassis Weight Reduction Stage 1 and 2 - Cr. 15,000

Sports Tyres - Soft - Cr. 8,000

Fully Customizable Transmission - Cr. 20,000 - Set Max Speed to 230

If you don't get gold in all the events, come back with a WRC Rally Car. I used a Citroen C4 WRC '08 that I won for completing at least bronze in these events, to win the dirt rally. You may not win a WRC car by doing this. If not, get all gold in the Sebastien Loeb Challenge and you'll get the car for sure.

Advanced (LV 20): WRC Cars

Recommended car:

Citroën C4 WRC '08

You can either:

- Buy it from the Citroën Dealership for Cr. 850,000

- Get gold in all Sebastien Loeb challenges (not that hard, see "Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge")

- You may be able to win a WRC car if you get a bronze in all the intermediate events.

Tuning:

Engine Stage 3

Titanium Racing Exhaust

High RPM Range Turbo Kit

Medium Racing Tyres

As usual, there is one event for dirt, snow and tarmac. This time there will be 8 special stages for each. With a tuned up WRC car it shouldn't prove very difficult though. As usual, I recommend turning off Traction Control for the dirt and snow races. I also had it off for the tarmac event, but depending on your skills, you may want to have some traction control on, but don't go above 5.

04.jpg AMG Driving Academy(B)

Complete the 'AMG Driving Academy' Special Event.

AMG Driving Academy unlocks at level 6 and has 4 main events requiring a level of 6, 12, 18 and 24. The bronze times are pretty easy. For gold however, you need to practice. Focus on each event for itself as you will learn each section first and then try and do the full lap after that.

04.jpg Top Gear Test Track(B)

Complete the 'Top Gear Test Track' Special Event.

This event unlocks at Level 4 and contains 3 main events requiring a level of 4, 8 and 19 respectively. The Beginner and Advanced events have you driving very slow cars. Slipstreaming is believe it or not, very important and you have to only break when absolutely necessary.

04.jpg Jeff Gordon NASCAR School(B)

Complete the 'Jeff Gordon NASCAR School' Special Event.

This event unlocks at Level 2 and has 3 main events that unlocks at Level 2, 9 and 21 respectively. It starts with Jeff Gordon giving you some information and tips about NASCAR. In the Intermediate events, turn off Traction Control and Active Stability Management. For the first and third Intermediate, set it to manual gearing. Change from third to fourth gear right after you start turning left. For the Advanced events, turn off Traction Control, ASM and ABS.

04.jpg Gran Turismo Karting Experience(B)

Complete the 'Gran Turismo Karting Experience' Special Event.

The Karting event has three main categories that requires you to be Level 1, 7 and 17 respectively. The key in these events is to handle the Go Kart properly. This means gentle turning and braking. Otherwise you will lose control of it. If you're using a pad, make sure you use :l2:/:r2: for braking and acceleration.

Believe it or not, slipstreaming means a lot here so position yourself behind other karts to build up speed and race past them. I only found the very last race of the last event a little bit hard. The start is important. If you lose contact with the karts in front, you most likely have to restart. Shouldn't be to hard though.

(P) Miscellaneous (P)

04.jpg Win Number One(B)

Win your first A-Spec event race.

As soon as you have gotten your first car, you can take part in the Sunday Cup in the Beginner Series. Make sure you go into A-Spec mode from the GT Life menu. Just win a race and this trophy will unlock.

04.jpg The Right Direction(B)

Win your first B-Spec event race.

Same as with A-Spec, starting with Sunday Cup is your best bet. This time you have to chose B-Spec, which means you control an AI Driver in stead of driving your self. You might not win the first few races. I won in my third race and used "Decrease Pace" a lot at the start to keep him cool.

04.jpg Proud Owner(B)

Take and share a photo.

:tagonline: :tagunobtainable:

No longer possible due to server shutdown on May 31st 2014.

Go to GT Mode > Photo Travel. Select any location and any car and any position. Any settings will work, now save your master piece, and exit back to the Photo Travel Location screen. In the bottom right hand corner you'll spot a camera icon. This is your Photo Album. Inside you'll find your photo(s), simply press menu and Share with Friends. The trophy will pop up in a second.

04.jpg Course Designer(B)

Create and share a track.

:tagonline: :tagunobtainable:

No longer possible due to server shutdown on May 31st 2014.

On the main menu screen select Course Maker. Now select any Theme, any number of corners, sections etc. Once your done save and name your track. Exit the Course Maker and go to GT Mode > Track List (it's a small icon on the left hand side). Select your track and click on Share with Friends. It will get uploaded and the trophy will appear.

04.jpg Loony Tune(B)

Spend an insane amount of money on tuning a car.

As opposed to what the trophy description says, this trophy doesn't seem to be tied to a car. It's all about spending money on tuning parts in general. You buy tuning parts by going to the Tuning Shop. I suggest selecting the car you want to upgrade first, so that you can install the upgrades when you buy them.

There is no way you won't get this trophy on your way through the game, but if you for some reason hasn't by the time you get the "Multi-Millionaire" trophy or just simply want to get this trophy, do the following. Go to the Tuning Shop, doesn't matter what car is selected, and keep buying Soft Racing Tyres until it unlocks. If you want to get your tuning money back, just quit the game right after the trophy unlocks.

04.jpg Race Ready(B)

Perform Racing Modifications on one of your cars.

In the GT Life menu, go to GT Auto and chose Racing Modifications (far right choice). This can be an expensive affair so you might want to wait until money is no issue anymore. If you want the trophy without paying for the Race Modification, there is a way to do so. After you have added Racing Modification and you see the car drive out of the garage, wait for the trophy to pop and then quit the game. Thanks to ghrules69 for this tip.

Check out jasynergy's Racing Modifications Guide for a full list of Race Mod-able cars as well as prices and other information. I will recommend the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 which can be used to grind money from LV 21 A-Spec.

04.jpg Dream Drifter(B)

Get 10,000 points or more in a Sector Mode Drift Trial.

Go to Arcade Mode -> Drift Trial -> Snow and Dirt -> Chamonix - Main.

Then chose the Ford Focus RS WRC 07 '08 and make sure it says Sector Mode in the Drift Type option. This track has 5 sectors. The first sector is the key. Your goal should be able to get 6,000 points or more in this sector. Watch your speed, and angle your car about 45º. Underneath is some point values you should aim for:

Sector 1: 6,000++

Sector 2: 1,500

Sector 3: 500

Sector 4: 500

Sector 5: 1,500

If you do it right, you can get a lot more than 10,000, but you probably need a few tries.

Thanks to Mastodon for the tip about this trophy.

04.jpg Data Analyst(B)

Analyze your performance using the Data Logger.

Whether you are in Practice Mode or Arcade Mode Time Trial, this trophy can be done by clicking on the Auto Logger icon in the menu you get to after exiting. You may have to drive 2 laps to make sure you get to use this option. If you don't drive far enough it will be grayed out.

04.jpg Driving Music(B)

Use the Personal BGM function, and go for a drive while listening to your favorite songs.

Firstly make sure you have some music saved onto your PS3. When in GT Mode go to Music Library > Race BGM tab. Just below these tabs you'll see a gear icon, click on that (BGM Settings (Race)). Firstly select 'Open PS3 system Music folder' and select a song/folder and then select "User BGM (Race)". Click OK and the trophy will pop up. Thanks to j8mie for the tip.

04.jpg Beyond the Autobahn(B)

Drive 12.718km total - the length of all Germany's Autobahns combined.

This trophy will come naturally. To keep an eye on how many KM's you've driven, go to the Profile menu in GT Mode. If Miles is your thing, then you need to get to 7,903 miles. Both A-Spec and B-Spec races counts.

04.jpg  Car Collector (B)

Fill your Garage with 1,000 cars.

:tagcollectible:

To get this trophy, you need to have 1,000 cars in your garage. Thankfully, they don't need to be unique. The cheapest car in the game is the PDI Racing Kart 100, they cost 5,000 each and can be found at the Gran Turismo dealership. Be sure to get the Multi-Millionaire and Colorful trophies before going for this. You can go to the Profile menu in GT Mode to see how many cars you have in your garage.

Thanks to TheMedusaCascade for confirming that multiple karts works.

04.jpg Multi-Millionaire(B)

Possess an insane amount of money.

To get this trophy you need to have 10,000,000 Credits in GT Mode. It's is not cumulative so at one point, you need to have Cr. 10 million available to spend. Keep in mind that the Credits differ in certain versions of the game. If you have the Japanese version, the equivalent to Cr. 10 mill would be Cr. 1 billion. You can look at the Race Series Guide for ways to get money as fast as possible.

04.jpg Old-Timer(B)

Acquire a car manufactured in 1959 or earlier.

Go to GT Mode -> A Spec -> Beginner Series -> World Classic Car Series (LV 3)

Win all 3 races and you'll be rewarded with a Subaru 360 '58. When you go to Car Delivery and accept this gift, the trophy will pop. Thanks to Blessorship for the tip.

04.jpg Half a Century of Cars(B)

Own at least one car from the '60s, '70s, 80's, '90s, and '00s.

:tagcollectible:

This will come naturally as you win cars in races and other events. If you for some reason want to focus on this trophy, look in the used car dealership.

04.jpg Maximum Mileage(B)

Buy a used car with 300,000km or more travel distance.

To buy used cars, go to Used Car Dealership from the GT Life menu. Each time you come here, there will be different cars. If you don't find a car with 300,000km or more in travel distance, come back another day and by that I mean in-game time. After you do an event, either in a racing series, license test or special event, there will be a new day. Keep coming back until you find a car that matches the requirement.

04.jpg High Roller(B)

Bought a seriously expensive car.

You have to buy a car for Cr. 100,000 or more to get this trophy. If you just want to get this trophy without paying for the car, you can exit the game at the screen where the car drives up to you.

04.jpg Sky-High Roller(B)

Buy an insanely expensive car.

You have to buy a car for Cr. 1,000,000 or more to get this trophy. I suggest waiting to get this trophy until after you get the "Multi-Millionaire" trophy or at least when you need a car for this price. If you just want to get this trophy without paying for the car, you can exit the game at the screen where the car drives up to you.

04.jpg Speed Demon(B)

Achieve a speed of 300km/h.

When you reach A-Spec Level 2, you unlock the NASCAR School. You can then go to Special Events from the GT Life menu and do the first NASCAR event and you should easily get a speed of 300 or more.

04.jpg 111 Meters a Second(B)

Achieve a speed of 400 km/h.

There are a few cars that can do this trophy. The easiest and fastest way to get it is to first win the Gran Turismo World Championship A-Spec Race (LV 14) in the Professional Series. The reward car for this championship is the Bugatti Veyron 16,4 '09.Make sure you go to Car Delivery and accept this gift.

Go to the tuning shop and buy the following:

- Fully Customizable Transmission - Cr. 20,000. Set Max Speed to 480KM/H (about 298MPH).

- Sports ECU - Cr. 1,000

- Chassis Weight Reduction Stage 1 & 2 - Cr. 15,000

- Sports Intake Manifold - Cr. 2,500

- Racing Air Filter - Cr. 450

Then go to Practice -> World Tracks -> Circuit de la Sarthe 2009 (No Chicane) -> A-Spec Free Run.

I don't find the Bugatti Veyron useful for any other races so if don't want to spend money on the parts for it, you could wait until you unlock the Red Bull Challenge at LV 30 in either A- or B-Spec. Then you can just enter one of the 3 Red Bull Special Events and you will easily get 400KM/H.

04.jpg Within One Hundredth(B)

Win a race by a margin of 0.01 seconds or less.

This can be a difficult trophy to get if you try for it. Your best bet would be to do it in the first NASCAR Special Event (unlocks at Level 2). Any NASCAR event or race is a good chance for this trophy, but the event mentioned here is very short and fast to retry if you don't get it at first.

04.jpg Arch Rivals(B)

Achieve a one-two finish in a Mistubishi Lancer Evolution X and a Subaru IMPREZA WRX STI.

- Go to Arcade mode, split screen.

- Controller 1 chose Subaru and Controller 2 chose Lancer

- If you only have 1 controller, hold down :ps: and change it to controller 2 and chose the car

- Go to race, and finish the race with only one car.

- If you only have 1 controller, change it back to controller 1

- The trophy will unlock when you exit the race

Thanks to Jack_GTR and Mastodon for this tip.

04.jpg Dream Race(B)

Win the ultimate three-way showdown between a Ford Mark IV Race Car, a Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car and a Jaguar XJ13 Race Car.

There are two sides to this trophy. Getting one of the cars, and win the race. First you have to get one of them. Each of them cost Cr. 20,000,000 in the Dealership. The Jaguar XJ13 Race Car can be won in the Indy 500 (LV 28) Endurance Race, so I suggest you wait until you get it for free. Here is a breakdown:

Ford Mark IV Race Car - LV 20 - 499BHP - 1,000 KG

Ferrari 330 P4 Race Car - LV 21 - 449BHP - 792 KG

Jaguar XJ13 Race Car - LV 19 - 501BHP - 998 KG [Prize Car at Indy - 500 Endurance Race - A-Spec]

When you have acquired one of them, you can buy the few available tuning parts and then go to Expert Series - Historic Racing Car Cup (LV 16) and win the race. I won it by using the Mark IV Race Car, which I found the easiest. If you can't win it with the Jaguar XJ13, you can get the Mark IV or the 330 P4 by doing the birthday trick. Make an alternate account with todays birthday date and birth year being 1967. Then log into the alternate account and start GT Mode. If you don't get one of the mentioned cars as a gift, exit out and delete the save file (on the alternate account). When you get it, send it to your main account as a gift.

04.jpg GT-R Official Record(B)

Achieve a time of 7'29.03 on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in a Nissan GT-R '07. The record must be achieved in a Time Trial in the Arcade mode version of the car with tires of Sports Hard grade or lower equipped.

Get bronze in all Intermediate events in AMG Driving Academy (LV 12) to unlock Nurburgring Nordschleife for use in Arcade Mode.

Then you have to go to Arcade Mode -> Time Trial -> Nurburgring Nordschleife -> Nissan GT-R. Make sure you use the Arcade version of the car and not your GT Mode version.

Make sure the tires are of the Sports Hard grade. Underneath is a video of TheFlyingToaster getting this trophy using a wheel.

Personally, I used the Dual Shock 3. The settings that worked best for me was this:

Traction Control: 1

Skid Recovery Force: On

Active Steering: Mild

Active Stability Management (ASM): Off

ABS: 1

04.jpg Human Stopwatch(B)

Complete three consecutive laps with time within 0.2 seconds of the Best Lap Time.

The easiest way to get this trophy is to wait until you are A-Spec Level 1. Then you will get a Go Kart. Then follow these steps.

1. Set PDI RACING KART 100 as one of your favorites

2. Go to Arcade Mode Time Trial and choose Superspeedway - Indy as the track

3. Choose PDI RACING KART 100 as your vehicle

4. Race 4 laps and stick to racing line (be very gentle with the turns)

The first lap is used to set a Best Time and in the following 3 laps, you have to finish within 0.200 of the Best Time. By following this method, my differences varied between 0.001 to 0.035, well within the requirements. Thanks to rankftw for the tip. If you're patient, you are likely to get it without trying when you get to the Indy 500 Endurance Race (unlocks at LV 28).

04.jpg A Star is Born(B)

Train a B-Spec driver up to Class 30 or above.

Keep using the same B-Spec driver. He'll eventually get to Class 30.

04.jpg  The Air of Experience (B)

Raise a B-Spec driver to the peak of his career.

Each B-Spec driver reaches the peak of their career at 500 B-Spec days. At this point you will get the trophy and their skills will start to deteriorate a lot faster. To keep an eye on this, you can go to the driver line-up screen (Helmet icon on the GT Life screen). What you want to look at is his career (PAL)/experience (NTSC) bar. When that reaches 100%, this trophy will unlock.

As mentioned, a B-Spec driver reaches his full potential when he has had a 500 day long career. The only way to advance days in B-Spec is to race B-Spec races in career mode. To get this trophy as easy as possible, you should focus on this trophy with the first driver you create. Let him take part in every race so that he gets better. While skill probably has nothing to do with this trophy, it doesn't hurt that your first driver takes part in every race so that he becomes as good as he can be. You also need to get a driver to Class 30 for the A Star is Born trophy so I suggest going for both with the same driver.

If you don't get this trophy by the time you reach LV 40 in B-Spec mode, I suggest doing Sunday Cup over and over in B-Spec mode. This is the fastest way to advance days in B-Spec mode. Thanks to Paul2CK for his thorough research on this matter.

04.jpg  Colorful (B)

Collect 256 paint colors.

:tagglitched: :tagcollectible:

GLITCHED

You collect colors when you buy new cars or get cars from winning races. You also get at least 5 colors for each day you play the game (as long as you are signed in). Playing for consecutive days will increase this number by one, all the way to 10 which is the max. You can also unlock a few paint items in certain events. Unlock 256 unique colors to get this trophy. I bought the cheapest cars in the Used Car Dealership to speed up this process.

To see your color items and the amount, go to the GT Life screen and click on the Items icon (looks like a suitcase). Chose Paint Item and you'll see the amount in the top right corner. Keep in mind that you may not get this trophy when it says 256. Keep collecting different colors and this trophy will eventually unlock.

This trophy might be glitched as a lot of people can get well into the 300's without unlocking this trophy and seems to be two things that causes this. Sometimes if you get different colors but has the same name they are listed as unique colors and counted by the paint list as unique, but it doesn't count towards this trophy for some reason. The other one is that you may not get the color to count if you don't chose to use the cars you buy or win so to be on the safe side, always answer yes to that question when you get a new car.

04.jpg Penniless(B)

Spend every last Credit you have.

Your gonna save yourself a lot of grief if you go for this trophy before you do anything else in GT Mode. If you haven't done anything, follow these two steps to get this trophy:

Dealerships -> Mazda -> Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91 - 19,000

Tuning Shop -> Engine -> Sports ECU - 1,000

This will use up all your credits. Go back to the GT Life main menu for the trophy to unlock. Thanks to Scary Paladin for the tip about the car.

If you don't get this trophy at first, there are a few alternate methods:

Alternate Method 1:

You have to buy used cars and winning races to make sure your Credits get back to a round number. Generally, buy used cars until your credits can be divided by 10. Win races until your credits can be divided by 50 or 100. If by 50, wash your car. When you can divide it by 100, buy tuning parts and or new cars from the dealership that has round numbers until you hit 0.

Alternate Method 2:

The money cap in this game is on Cr. 20 Million, and that is also the prize of the most expensive cars in the game. Reach the cap, and then either buy the Ford Mark IV or the Ferrari P4. If you don't want to get these cars, either by a combination of cars or you could use alternate method 3.

Alternate Method 3:

Take a back-up of your save to a USB Memory device or a USB External HDD. Then Delete the save on your PS3 and buy 4 PDI Racing Karts from the Gran Turismo dealership. When you have unlocked the trophy, restore your main save by going to the Memory Card and copy it back on to the PS3. If you're far into the game, be careful not to mess up this process.

04.jpg Watch Out for Falling Objects(B)(H)

Make a part of your car fall off while driving.

Go to Arcade Mode -> Single Race. It might not be important, but chose Professional Level. Make sure you chose a WRC Rally Car, as they are easy to damage. I chose the track Eiger Nordwand K Trail (Snow and Dirt category). When the race starts, crash as much as possible. My door fell of on the way up the mountain again. It will usually take quite a few hits before it falls off. A good sign will be when the door starts to open up when you brake.

04.jpg Rollover(B)(H)

Total a car by flipping it over.

Go to Arcade Mode -> Time Trial -> Trial Mountain Circuit (Original). Chose a fast car. I chose the Citroën WRC '08. This being time trial mode, it let's you off right before the final corner. On the right side of this corner by the curb is a high side bump. Position your right tires as high up on this as possible, almost hitting the stone surface. You can restart as much as you want until you get it, as this trophy requires a bit of luck as well. In order to unlock the trophy, the car has to be in an undriveable position for a long enough time to have it re-spawn. Landing and staying on the roof is a sure way to do this, but sliding with the side of the car being on the tarmac also works.

04.jpg Take Your Honda Home(B)(H)

Take a photo of a Honda passing in front of the Honda head office on the Tokyo R246 track.

Go to GT Mode. Buy/select a Honda and go into Practise -> City -> Tokyo R246. When you start take the first right hand hairpin bend onto the main straight. The building your looking for is a tall white office block on the left hand side a short while after you pass the start/finish line. It has rounded corners and black glass. There are some Castrol signs out front. To get the "Data Analyst" trophy as well, finish 2 laps of the track and then quit. Watch the replay and press Start to pause the replay outside the building. Select Photo Mode. Take aim and shoot. No need to save this photo. Then go out of Photo Mode and back to the screen where you chose to start the replay. This time, you select 'Data Logger' in stead and the "Data Analyst" trophy will unlock as well. Underneath is how my picture looked like:

Thanks to j8mie for the tip.

04.jpg Picture Exclusive(B)(H)

Take a picture of a special someone as he stands in Kyoto's Gion district.

Go to GT Mode -> Photo travel -> Kyoto's Gion district. Set camera to location 1, put the car in position C and just to the left of the screen you'll see a grey haired man leaning against some railing. Swing round and take his photo (make sure you use auto-focus). I made sure he was looking at me when I took the photo and zoomed in on his face. When the photo has been taken, wait a few seconds and the trophy will unlock. Underneath is how my picture looked like:

Thanks to j8mie for the tip.

04.jpg Portraitist(B)(H)

Take a portrait of a solitary lady who appears on the Marktgasse in Bern.

Go to GT Mode -> Photo Travel -> Bern Marktgasse. Set camera location to 1, put the car in position A. Between the car and the status with flowers at the base is a lady sitting down talking on her cell phone. Zoom right in to get her portrait and take the photo (make sure you use auto-focus). When the photo has been taken, wait a few seconds and the trophy will unlock. Underneath is how my picture looked like:

Looking foward to the read but I would like to be first in saying i dont think i have the ability to platinum this game.First qustions about the Penniless trophy, can I just start a new career to gain this trophy as I am already someway into the game. If i backup my current save and start a new career, i should then be able to get the Penniless your way right?

The thing is that the save is copy protected. So the easiest way would be to try and mix and match with buying used cars and winning races to get your credits to a round number (within 100s).

The only way if you want to back up and delete your save and then restore is to do a full back up of your PS3 system, then delete your save and get Penniless. It's most likely a bigger huzzle than just trying to get to a round number and I can't even confirm that the GT5 save will be restored even when doing a full back up.

People say it's possible, but I haven't done it myself and do not want to be responsible for people losing saves. That's why I didn't add it to the guide.
