Introduction:

God of War III is the epic conclusion to the God of War trilogy. It picks up right where God of War II leaves off so there's no time lost in the story. You play as Kratos (again :p) still trying to have his vengeance against Zeus. Along the way, you will encounter huge set-pieces and incredible backdrops as the story progresses. During the game, you will find yourself face-to-face with some of the most famous Gods of the Greek mythological world. This game is a lot of fun, especially if you're a fan of the previous two games. I hope this guide helps you out.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Beat the game on Normal difficulty and get as many of the missable trophies as you can except for "Eye Candy", "Feather Plucker", and "Are You Horny To Win?". You'll need the health and magic more in your Titan playthrough.

I highly recommend playing through the game on Normal difficulty first to familiarise yourslf with the controls and boss fights. You should be trying to master as many combos as you can and get used to blocking and countering attacks. These skills are necessary for your Titan difficulty playthough.

You should also get the "aMAZEd" trophy for beating the Labyrinth without dying in this playthrough. This trophy is hard enough on its own without having to try for it on your Titan playthrough, so I recommend you get it here. You don't have to beat the Labyrinth in one sitting, but you cannot die once you have entered it, otherwise the trophy will not unlock. The Labyrinth can be found shortly after you acquire the Freezer Burn trophy. For a complete guide to getting through the Labyrinth, please refer to F8L Fool's guide for it here: How To Unlock "aMAZEd" (Guaranteed) - PlaystationTrophies.org

If you want to get "Eye Candy", "Feather Plucker", and "Are You Horny To Win?" in this playthrough, feel free to do so. There is a glitch for Titan difficulty that gives you full health, magic and maxed out weapons from the start of the game. Explanation of this glitch can be found here: Extremely easy way to beat Titan mode - PlaystationTrophies.org

At the end of this step, you will have the following trophies:

  • Releasing the Floodgates
  • Burnt To A Crisp
  • Mr. Hand
  • Shine Lord
  • Shoe Delivery
  • I didn't do it... But I wish I did!
  • Ladies Man
  • Handy Man
  • Open Sesame
  • Rescue Me
  • Three Wise Men
  • Hit Man
  • Rip One!
  • Nice Tan
  • Obedience School
  • It's getting hot in here...
  • Souled Out
  • Bloody Hell
  • No Guts, No Glory
  • Hitting Your Stride
  • Sibling Rivalry
  • Titan Slayer
  • Retribution
  • Hooker
  • Freezer Burn
  • Seeing things from a different perspective
  • Maxed Out!
  • Vengeance Complete
  • Priceless
  • aMAZEd

Optional:

  • Eye Candy
  • Feather Plucker
  • Are You Horny To Win?

Step 2: Complete the Challenge of Olympus.

I'm listing this step next because completing the Challenge of Olympus before playing on Titan will allow you to use a glitch that will give you all of your weapons maxed out, full health and full magic from the start of the game which will make things immensely easier.

These challenges are pretty straight-forward with what you have to do but a couple of them can be a pain, so if you're having trouble with any of the challenges, please refer to F8L Fool's Challenge of Olympus guide here: Challenge of Olympus Guide - PlaystationTrophies.org

At the end of this step, you will have the following trophy(s):

  • Up To The Challenge

Step 3: Beat the game on Titan difficulty.

This is the hardest trophy in the game (for me anyways :p). All of the blocking and countering and combo-mastering you did in step 1 is mandatory here.

I highly recommend maxing out your Blades of Exile and Nemean Cestus first because they are the weapons you will be using the most.

As I mentioned in Step 1, there is a glitch that allows you to have max health, magic and all of your weapons maxed out from that start. An explanation of this glitch can be found here: Extremely easy way to beat Titan mode - PlaystationTrophies.org

At the end of this step, if you have done everything perfectly in co-ordination with this guide, you'll have the following trophies:

  • Unhuman
  • King of the Hill

Step 4 (Optional): Clean Up

If there was anything that you missed, either purposefully or otherwise, now is the time to get it. Refer to the specific trophy in the guide for details on acquiring it. If you didn't have it by the previous step, you will have the platinum trophy after this step.

Kill Poseidon

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

You will start the game where God of War II left off with the Titans climbing up Mount Olympus and Kratos on the back of Gaia. Eventually there will be a cutscene where Poseidon jumps down from Mount Olympus into the sea. He will rise up from there as a giant water-based behemoth. The Poseidon fight has 4 sections to it. Complete all 4 sections to receive the trophy. Open the spoiler below to see my strategy for the fight.

[spoiler=godofrwar31]

In the first section, he will be gripping on to Gaia on either side with a few claw type appendages. Make sure to avoid his lightning attack and his trident slam attack. Simply attack these claws until they lose their grip on Gaia and let go. From here, Gaia will grab Poseidon and slam him into the side of the mountain and hold him there. This will start the second section of the fight.

In this section, Poseidon will try to slam his fist down on you when you get too close. Sometimes, he'll pull back on his trident to attempt a slam attack with it. Simply roll as far back and to the right as far as you can. You should be behind the tall rock here to avoid it. Just keep hitting him with attacks until you get the QTE event above his head. When you see this, climb up the rock on the right (the one you hide behind when avoiding the trident stab attack) and initiate the QTE to finish this section of the fight.

This section is a repeat of the first section. Roll to the sides to avoid the claw attack and lightning strike attack. Keep attacking his claws that are holding onto Gaia. When all the claws have been released from Gaia, there will be a quick scene where Gaia tries to punch Poseidon but he stops her with his claws. Now you have to swing around using the prompts on screen to release the claw. This will force Kratos to jump into the behemoth and drag Poseidon out.

From here all you have to do is wait for the talking scene to end, then intiate the QTE to kill Poseidon. When you have completed this, you will receive the trophy.

Acquire the Bow of Apollo

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

During your attempt to escape from Hades, you'll come across a man tied to a chair behind a flammable bramble patch. This man is called Peirithous. He wants you to help him escape from Hades and allow him to go save Persephone from Hades. He offers you the Bow of Apollo in return. Check out the spoiler below to learn how to get this trophy.

[spoiler=godofwar32]

You can climb above Perithous and make your way to the opening on the left side of the hall on the upper level. Here there will be a moveable bramble pot. Take this out over the alcove and punch it to the ground level. Now jump down and puch the pot all the way to the other end of the room to where there is a three-headed dog waiting behind a cage. The dog will spit fire at the pot causing it to ingite and send off some steam, which will allow you to float up to the second level to a pull-switch.

To open the cage, go back to the start of the room and climb above Perithous again. This time, jump on the chandelier, which will lower and raise the gate. Now quickly make your way over to the steam and float up by jumping and holding :cross: to bring out your wings. Pull the switch when you get up there.

Now you need to fight the dog for a little bit until you can jump on its back and control its movements. A bunch of enemies will appear and you can use the dog's attacks to make short work of them. When they are all dead, make your way over to Peirithous and set the bramble on fire, which, in turn, sets Peirithous ablaze. When the bramble has burnt away, you can pick up the bow from the corpse of Peirithous and the trophy will unlock.

Kill Hades

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

To get this trophy you simply have to kill Hades. Sounds easy, right? Not so fast. Hades is one of the hardest fights in the game, especially on Titan difficulty. Check out the spoiler below for a complete strategy.

[spoiler=godofwar33]

There are 5 sections to the Hades fight:

In the first section, Hades will be attempting to hit you with his Claws of Hades on the ground. The claw attacks come quickly so make sure that you can spot them coming and roll to the appropriate side to avoid them. He will also try to hit you by trying to step on you. He'll raise his foot for a few seconds and when he slams it down, it releases a small surge of energy in front of him, so when you see his foot raise, make sure to roll behind him so you don't get hit by this. He also has an attack where he jumps to the ceiling of the area and slams down, creating a surge of energy that affects the entire arena. Simply jump in the air to avoid this. His last attack in this stage has him swing his Claws around in a circular motion, which affects the entire arena. He'll do this a couple of times at the ground level, and also in the air, so make sure you dodge accordingly. Use the Blades of Exile when you're up close to him, and when he's far away from you, hit him with the Bow of Apollo a few times to chip away at his health. Eventually, you will hit him enough that a QTE will appear over his head. Initiate this to rip a piece of his skin off. The skin will try to make its way back to Hades to re-attach itself. Attack the piece of skin to destroy it before it reaches Hades. While the skin is bouncing around, there will be some arms and hands that extend up from the floor to try to impede you in your attempt to destroy the skin. These arms give you health orbs when they are killed, so feel free to stock up on health if you need it.

In the second section, Hades' attacks are quicker and more damaging. He also adds a couple of new ones: 1) He'll retreat to the back of the arena in the centre and the ground will go black. When this happens, he is summoning his powerful chain attack. A small section of the black ground will disappear, indicating that this is the safe spot. That spot is where you must be standing when the chains pop up if you don't want to be hit. 2) He will swing his chains around to try to catch you with them. If he catches you, he will try to suck out your soul. You must rapidly hit :l1: and :r1: in succession to prevent this. 3) He'll swing his Blades around briefly, then release a few souls that will slowly come towards you. These are easily blocked and aren't a threat at all (if you block :p). Otherwise, this section of the fight is more of the same from the first section: hit him with your Blades and Bow until the QTE appears again. In this QTE, you'll rip off another piece of skin. Destroy it again to begin the third section.

In this section, Hades has couple of new attacks: 1) He will pound both of his blades on the ground and there will be some purple circles of smoke that appear on the ground. Stay away from these circles as they will have chains coming out of them that will damage you. These smoke circles will follow you around the arena for a few seconds until Hades gives up on the attack. 2) He will use his Blades to summon the souls of a couple of three-headed dogs to attack you. To defend against them, all you have to do is block the attack. They will disappear after that and you can resume your arrow assault on Hades. Continue to attack when you can until the QTE appears over Hades' head. In this QTE, You attack Hades' head until he throws you off and sweeps a trench through the middle of the arena with his Blades.

In this stage of the fight, your Blades are wrapped around his and you're basically having a game of Tug-Of-War, with the loser going in the trench. You have to keep pulling back on the :ls: and attacking with your other Blade. When Hades goes for an attack, you can evade it by dashing to the left or right by using the :rs:. Keep doing this until the QTE appears over his head. When you activate the QTE, Kratos will throw his other Blade at Hades' head and then loop the chains over a hook in the ceiling. Now you can mash the :circle: button to smash Hades against the ceiling repeatedly. You'll stop when Hades lets go of his own Blades and falls into the trench. You now have the Claws of Hades :applause: and the fight appears to be over.

Not so fast! Kill all of the skeletons that appear, and Hades will pop back up for another stage of the fight. He can't get up out of the trench so he can't move around you, but he can turn in the trench. You'll have to make use of the swing hook to move to the back of Hades whenever he turns to face you. Stay away from his attacks and you'll be fine. Just attack him whenever you can and make sure that you avoid his heavy attacks (the body slam and he has a "breath-like" attack where he breathes energy at you). Pretty soon, you'll get a QTE prompt. Perform the QTE to finish this fight.

Sever Gaia's hand

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

As you continue your climb back up the mountain, you'll come across Gaia who is holding on to the side of the mountain, blocking your path. You have a quick chat with her and afterwards, you have to attack her hand. Just keep spamming attacks at her hand and eventually you will cut her hand off and she will fall off the mountain. You can now continue along your merry way.

The trophy should unlock right after this.

Kill Helios

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

To get this trophy, You simply have to kill Helios. Check out the spoiler below for the method on how to do this.

[spoiler=godofwar34]

After you have made it out of Hades (again :p) you will come across a Titan being pestered by Helios in his chariot. You need to shoot the arrow cannon into Helios' chariot to get him out of the sky, but first you have to deal with a Centaur General and some smaller enemies. When they are taken care of, you'll have free access to the cannon and can shoot the arrow into the chariot, which causes Helios to go off course and right into the hands of the Titan he has been pestering. The Titan will slam Helios into the ground and then throw him into the side of the mountain. You now need to make your way over to Helios.

When you get to Helios, he is lying on the ground in a heap. He will converse with you for a second, pleading for his life and then blinding you with the power of the sun. Just use the :rs: to raise your hand and block the sunlight so you can walk to Helios. When you get to him, you have to press the :circle: button repeatedly to stamp on his head until he talks to you again. After the talking, You have to, again, press the :circle: button repeatedly to rip off the head of Helios. The trophy will pop up shortly afterward.

Check out the video below to see how to do it.

Kill Hermes and acquire his Boots

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

Hermes will appear just as you complete the section in the caverns where you have to put all of the huge blocks together. After a quick cutscene, Hermes will lead you up the Chain of Balance into the room that holds the Flame of Olympus. There will be another small cutscene, this time with the ghost of Athena. When that is finished, Hermes will appear again and you must give chase, again. Continue to chase him until you get to a giant catapult. Activate the catapult to send yourself hurtling towards Hermes. Perform the QTEs in the air and you'll eventually land and injure Hermes. Walk towards him to start the "fight".

The fight with Hermes is not really a fight, it's more like a chase around this room. Hermes will run around the room trying to keep away from you. Just use your regular attacks to hit him when he gets close to you. There will be a couple of QTE sequences during the fight but nothing difficult. Continue to lay into him with your attacks until Hermes falls to the ground with the QTE :circle: icon above his head. Complete this QTE to pick him up by the legs and cut them off to earn this trophy.

Check out the video below to avoid confusion.

Kill Hercules

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

Eventually, you will come to an open arena where a cutscene will trigger. Hera will be sitting in the gallery overhead, drunk. She will talk to you for a minute or two until she summons Hercules who is all too happy to try to kill you.

Check out the spoiler below for strategies on how to defeat your half-brother Hercules.

[spoiler=godofwar35]

You start the fight against a bunch of skeleton warriors. Make quick work of them and there will be a quick cutscene showing Hercules putting on his Nemean Cestus fists and jumping down to take care of you himself.

Start hitting him right away. The whole idea right now is to get all of his armor off of him. Use your magic attacks to deal him the most damage in the least amount of time. Hercules will get very angry and charge at you. Kratos will automatically stop him in his tracks, but you now have to mash the :circle: button to continue. This will deal a couple of hits to him and you will pick him up and start running. Direct him in to one of the walls with spikes on it. This will enable Kratos to rip off a piece of his armor.

Do this another time to rip off another piece of his armor (his helmet this time).

Now it's just you and him in the arena. He has added another attack in this stage of the fight: His ground punch has a huge range. Make sure that you roll away to avoid taking damage from it. In this stage, keep your distance and try to hit him with your blades from as far away as possible, that way you can be outside the range of the ground punch when you roll away. Keep hitting him until he blinds you and the whole screen turns white. When the image comes back Hercules will have a :circle: over his head. Activate the QTE and complete its actions to strip Hercules of his weapon.

Now you have to beat him down with his own weapon. Once in a while, he will throw you to the near side of the arena (closest to the screen) and go over to the side, rip some rock out of the wall and throw it at you. Jump and dash out of the way to avoid it and then continue your assault. Continue the fight until he throws you to the near side of the screen again. This time he will crouch down and lift the whole arena up! Complete the QTE to get back up onto the platform and then there are a couple more button presses to finish the fight.

The trophy will unlock shortly after you and Hercules fall in to the water below.

See the video below to get a better idea of the fight.

***Note: This is where I earned (B) Hit Man***

To earn Hit Man in this stage, break out the Claws of Hades. Make sure that you have not levelled them up past level 2 (keep them at level one just to be safe). You can only do this for the first two sections of the fight (when all of the skeleton warriors are around). During the fight, spam the :l1: + :circle: attack. It should grip one of the enemies and rip out some souls. These souls will float around, dealing damage even if you take a hit. They don't do enough damage to clear out all of the enemies but they do enough that it registers as a hit.

Using this method, I was able to reach over 16,000 hits before I got bored and let the combo die.

Kill the Poseidon Princess

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

Shortly after the fight with Hercules, you will come to Poseidon's Chamber. In here, there is a girl that is in need of help. This is the Poseidon Princess. Since Poseidon is now dead, she has no reason to be there anymore and she wants to leave.

Eventually you will get to a spot where you have to carry her to a switch that opens the door you need to go through. The door won't stay open on its own, so place the Poseidon Princess in the switch alcove and she will hold it up long enough for you to get through the door and then she will get crushed by the weight of the door.

The trophy will pop up when you move the screen off of her.

Open the Gates of Tisiphone

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

After you go through the portal in Aphrodite's chamber, you will be back in Hades. Speak to Hephaestus and he will tell you to go in to the Tartarus pit to get the Omhalos Stone.

Check out the spoiler below for details about opening the Gates.

[spoiler=godofwar311]

In order to get in to the Tartarus pit, you need to open the Gates of Tisiphone. In order to do this, you first will have to defeat two Chimera enemies. Be very careful when taking these two enemies down. They will surround you and give you some heavy damage if you let them. The second Chimera will appear after you have brought the first one to its second form (when you sever the snake tail). Make sure that you leave all of the barrels until the second one has appeared. Lure them both towards one of the barrels and let a flame arrow go in to the barrel so it will explode on both of them. You'll want to pick one of the Chimera to focus on primarily. Dealing damage to both of them (other than what the barrels do) is not recommended because you'll lose track of which one has absorbed the most damage. Continue to hit one of the Chimera until it is dead and go to work on the other one. When it is dead, you can now figure out how to open the Gates.

This is where trying to explain what to do gets tricky, but here goes:

Step 1. Interact with the chains on either side of the doors. This will get a couple of blocks to come out of the wall. Interact with both of the blocks to push them back in the wall, revealing ledges and grab points.

Step 2. Climb up the blocks on the left side as far as you can (it will only be two blocks) and wait for the harpy to appear. Ride on the harpy all the way over to the right side block that is sticking out. Stand here for a second and wait for the blocks to come back out of the wall. The block will push you off the ledge, so jump up on top of that block and then jump up on top of the one above and beside it.

Step 3. You can now jump to the left on to the gold ledge in the middle. Jump from that ledge (in the middle) to the next ledge on the left (there will be a flashing point that you can interact with). Interact with the switch here to push that block in to the wall. This will make some more blocks on the right side come out and make a harpy lower down.

Step 4. Grab a ride on the harpy over to the right side where there is another interaction point. Interact here to push the block in to the wall.

Step 5. Jump back to the gold ledge in the middle and interact with the switch here which will open the Gates of Tisiphone.

The trophy will pop up during the animation of the Gates opening.

Kill Cronos

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

Get ready for the seemingly impossible task of killing a Titan. Cronos is wandering around the Pit of Tartarus with Pandora's Temple still on his back. I'll give a strategy for the entire battle against Cronos, starting with when you first encounter him, in the spoiler below.

[spoiler=godofwar36]

At the very start, Cronos will have you in between two of his fingers, trying to crush you. Rapidly tap the :circle: button to break free of his grasp. Then charge up a blast from the Head of Helios to blind Cronos and send yourself flying in the air. As you fall back to the ground, you will have to do a QTE to land safely on Cronos' hand.

When you land on his hand, a bunch of skeleton warriors will show up. Make quick work of them and head towards the bracelet on his wrist and hit it with some attacks. It will spin around, revealing a passage for you to take up his arm. Cronos will raise his arm, forcing you to climb up his arm vertically. You will come to a pustule-looking thing on his arm. Attack it a couple of times to burst it and level out his arm again. Run to the left and take care of the skeleton warriors that appear. Cronos will send a breath attack your way every so often, so make sure that you roll away to avoid it. When all of the skeletons are dead, Cronos will grip his arm with his fingers. When you regain control of Kratos, attack the fingernail that is on his arm. He will pull his hand back after a few seconds. More skeletons will appear so get to work on them. Cronos will also slam his arm with his other hand in an attempt to throw you off of him. While you're in the air, perform the QTE to stay on the Titan. He will bring his fingernail back at this point so hit it with some attacks until the :circle: appears allowing you to perform another QTE. This one allows you to pull off the broken fingernail in a very gruesome way.

Get rid of any skeletons that are left and wait for him to raise his hand in the distance. He is about to slam it down on his arm, hopefully crushing you. Wait for the shadows to appear and move to an unshaded part. You'll be safe there. From there, you can climb up the side of his finger to where there will be a skeleton waiting for you. Kill the skeleton quickly and wait for Cronos to bring you in front of his face. Charge up another blast of sunlight with the Head of Helios and release it when you see Cronos' eyes are shining brightly. This will send you flying in the air again. On the way down, perform the QTE to grab on to Cronos' skin and save yourself from death.

Make your way up his body, killing the skeletons in the way. Soon you'll come to a ledge where there will be a couple of stone statues that get up out of the alcove they were in and start to attack you. More skeletons will arive to make things a bit tougher. When everything is dead, interact with the glowing icon in the middle of the "wall". This will open it up, revealing an onyx stripe going up the body of Cronos. Attack the bottom of it with your blades to peel back the skin that is blocking it. When the skin is gone, a lot of skeletons will arrive on scene. In the middle of fighting them, Cronos will grab you and take you away from there. He'll hold his hand out and reveal you holding on to the palm of his hand. Continue to fight the skeletons until Cronos tries to crush you between his palms. You have to rapidly tap the :circle: button to force his palm off of you. After Kratos stabs the palm with the Sword of Olympus, Cronos will turn his hand upside-down. You must make your way to the right, while killing the skeletons that appear in your path. You will come to a couple of swing hooks, so make use of them until you land back on level ground.

Now it's time to run! Cronos will start sweeping his arm in your direction, obliterating everything in its path. Run all the way to the right, ignoring the skeletons until you reach a metal platform with, you guessed it, more skeletons! Kill all of the initial skeletons and go to the right a bit. A cyclops skeleton will rip its way out of Cronos' shoulder. Use the same strategy you would for a regular cyclops. When you get on the back of the cyclops, attack the area of the shoulder that it ripped out of. Eventually, Cronos will react to the pain and you will start to slide off the Titan. Complete the QTE section while you fall off (killing the cyclops) until Cronos drops you down his throat.

Make your way down the throat of Cronos, avoiding the blockades as you slide down. When you get to the bottom, the screen will cut outside to Cronos writhing in pain. Mash the :circle: button to force your way out of the belly of Cronos, holding the Omphalos Stone that you came for. Make your way back up to the onyx stone and destroy it using the Nemean Cestus. Perform two QTEs, bringing the remainder of the stone through the throat of Cronos. After a quick camera panning, destroy the rest of the stone and head up to Cronos' forehead. Eventually a big :circle: will appear over his head. Activate and perfor the QTE to kill the Titan Cronos.

The trophy should unlock afterwards.

See the video below for a complete walkthrough of the fight.

Solve Hera's Gardens

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

Make your way through Hera's Garden of weird perspective. This garden is essentially an M.C. Escher drawing :p. Check out the spoiler below for my walkthrough of Hera's Garden.

[spoiler=godofwar37]

When the cutscene with Hera ends, go to the left and pick up Hera's Chalice. You need this for the stone in it. Now continue in this direction until you come to a hallway that curves around to the right. The gate will rise after you step in to the hallway (that's how you know you're in the right place). As you make your way down this hallway, two new enemies will appear. Take care of them in the usual way and go to the end of the hallway and open the gate here. Make your way to the only place you can go. The gate will rise behind you. Walk forward and step on the pad here to trigger a quick cutscene showing you the power of the Hyperion Stone.

Walk towards the screen and activate the gate here to lower it. It won't lower it all the way so jump over the remaining section of it and head up the stairs on the left. When you reach the top, the Hyperion Stone will wear off and things will go back to normal. Go to the end of the platform here and lift the gate. Jump down to the ground below and jump across the gap to the far side. Here there is a pillar with stairs on the top. Drag the stairs to the left, rotate them once to the left and place it beside the bowl on the right side if it. If you did it correctly, the water from the waterfall will travel along the stairs and fill up the bowl. A platform will lower in the distance and the gate in front of you will lower. Go through the new opening and you'll encounter Hera again. After the cutscene, go to the right and shoot a flame-charged arrow at the bramble wall to set it on fire and burn it down. Now go pick up the corpse of Hera and place it on the circle pad, activating the Hyperion Stone. Now go to the right and grab the stair pillar the you placed earlier and bring it to the left side of the area next to the bowl here, making the water go in the bowl and filling it up.

After the quick cutscene showing the new flow of water, grab the stair pillar and drag it to the very bottom of the area and rotate it twice to complete the staircase. Now go up the staircase on the left side. When you get to the top, the effect of the Hyperion Stone will go away. Jump back down and push the stair pillar over to the circular pad on the ground, pressing it down. This will enable the Hyperion Stone indefinitely, allowing you to follow the path back up the stairs and around to the north part of the garden. When you reach the end, you will see a quick cutscene in which Kratos destroys the Hyperion Stone.

The trophy will unlock here.

Acquire the Boreas Icestorm

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

To get this trophy, you have to defeat a giant scorpion at the top of the Caverns. The Boreas Icestorm will be available on the ground after you have finsihed off the scorpion. Check out the spoiler below for the strategy regarding this boss fight.

[spoiler=godofwar38]

Welcome to the Onyx Scorpion fight. This is is relatively easy if you can corner it and go to work on its legs with the Nemean Cestus. Anyways, on to the strategy.

At the very beginning of this fight, you'll find that the scorpion will jump up on to the platform you're standing on and throw you into its mouth. Repeatedly tap :l1: and :r1: to break free of its grasp. When you're free, go around to one side of the scorpion (I recommend the right side) and equip the Nemean Cestus. Now start pounding away at the onyx legs of this giant arachnid. Make sure to watch out for the small scorpions crawling about. They are easily taken care of but are an annoying distraction. Also, be aware of the giant scorpion's tail smash attack. It will raise its tail in the air and wave it around for a second and then smash it down, trying to hit you. This will take a fair amount of health from you if it hits you.

Keep working away at the legs on one side of the body until the scorpion falls to the ground. Now you can go up to its face and punch away. Eventually, you'll start ripping out its teeth. Continue to assault the scorpion in this manner until it throws you over the side of the platform.

Now you have to fly back up to the platform. This is just like previous flying sections where you have avoid the falling debris. Evade to the left and right to avoid getting hit as you make you way back to the giant scorpion.

Complete the QTE to finally kill the scorpion. When the scorpion has turned completely in to onyx, punch it a few more times with the Nemean Cestus to shatter it in to pieces. Now go up to the remains of the stinger and shatter it as well. The Boreas Icestorm will appear on the ground in front of you. Press :r1: to pick it up and acquire the trophy and The Boreas Icestorm. Congrats.

Check out the video below to see how it's done.

Solve the Three Judges

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

After rescuing Pandora, Kratos must head back down to the Underworld to break the Chain of Balance, held by the Three Judges. Read the spoiler below for a thorough account of this section.

[spoiler=godofwar39]

As soon as you find yourself back in Hades, you're in for one of the most difficult fights of the game: the three-headed Cereberus dog. Ok, here goes.

Throughout this first section of the fight, you'll want to keep your distance from the dog. It can deal a lot of damage to you in a short amount of time, so the less time you spend near it, the better. This boss is very aggressive and charges at you frequently. Basically, you want to spam your arrows at it for the first part, while staying far away from it. Roll to evade whenever it charges at you. It will also spawn smaller dogs to annoy you. To deal with them, grab them and kick them towards the big dog. Not only will it get rid of the small dogs, but it will damage the big dog as well. Keep doing this until you get the first QTE above its head. Perform the QTE to rip off its first head.

In this section of the fight, a powerful Satyr will spawn to make life even more difficult. It is now that you will want to activate the Sword of Olympus and go to town on the dog. Ignore the Satyr completely and focus on the dog. By the time your energy runs out, the dog should be very close to the next QTE event. When the QTE appears, perform it and get ready for the next section of the fight.

In the third section of this fight, now you will want to get up close and use your Spartan shield magic attack as much as possible. Three or four perfectly placed attacks should be enough to bring the dog to the last QTE. When this QTE is finished, the dog will be dead and you'll just have to contend with 2 annoying Satyrs.

You should have damaged the first Satyr a little bit during the last section of the Cerberus fight so it should die relatively soon. To take care of them both, break out the Nemean Cestus and start punching. These Satyrs are very annoying because they block attacks a lot, jump around and evade your attacks. Just keep on one of them till it's dead and then you can focus on the last one. Use the rest of your magic if you need to (there are magic refilling chests nearby when the fight is over).

When the Satyrs are dead, the gate in front of you will lower and you can now make your way to the Three Judges. Ahead on the right, you should see a portal. Go through it to find yourself on a platform behind the heads of the Three Judges. From here, go to the left and equip the Nemean Cestus. You will find an onyx stone sticking out of the back of the head of one of the Judges. Destroy it with the Cestus to release that Judge's grip on the Chain. As you make your way back to the right, some enemies will spawn. Take care of them in your usual manner and continue to the right. Jump across the gap to come to the head of the next Judge. Destroy the stone sticking out of the head again using the Cestus and again, more enemies will appear from the right. These ones are undead warriors with onyx shields. Take care of them how you usually would: destroy the shields with the Nemean Cestus and then punch them into submission.

After they are dead, continue to the right and make a turn up the hallway here. When you get to the end of this hallway, a Satyr and two onyx shield enemies will appear. You can either fight them quickly, or avoid fighting them altogether and climb down the vine wall. Whatever you choose to do, climb down the vine wall found here and make your way over to the head of the last Judge. Destroy the stone to release its grip on the Chain, revealing two onyx stone sections of the Chain of Balance. Now make your way back to the portal that brought you up here and go through it. Now go over to the Chain and destroy the onyx sections.

The trophy will unlock shortly afterwards.

Kill Zeus

Story Related Trophy. Cannot be Missed.

To get this trophy, you simply have to kill Zeus. Sounds easy, right? Not quite. Open up the spoiler below for a complete strategy for this fight.

[spoiler=godofwar310]

Zeus' First Stage:

In this section of the fight, Use the Nemesis Whip. It has a magic attack that shoots a ball of charged lightning at Zeus. Dodge his charge attacks by jumping and using the mid air dash. Whenever you're not near Zeus, use the Bow of Apollo to continue to inflict damage on Zeus. He has a punch combo attack that you can easily evade. He will punch twice and then unleash an energy wave. Block the two punches, then jump and dash over his head and avoid the energy wave. Keep this pattern up and eventually the ceiling will come crashing down on Zeus, making way for the next stage of the fight.

Zeus' Second Stage:

In this stage of the fight, you and Zeus will be in an open arena. This is far better for attacking since you have so much more room to move around. Employ the same basic strategy as the previous stage: Use the Bow of Apollo and Nemesis Whip to attack, and always make sure that you have enough time to counter. By that, I mean don't spend too much time simply attacking. Keep your distance at times since he will most likely damage you if you spend too much time consecutively atacking. After you have sufficently damaged Zeus, Gaia will show up and there will be a cutscene. Follow the only path you can take to find the heart of Gaia. Now you can equip the Nemean Cestus and destroy the onyx stone that is in the way of Gaia's heart. Behind the onyx stone, there is a flammable bramble wall. Send a charged arrow from the Bow at it, burning it away, revealing Gaia's heart. Now you can start to attack the heart until Zeus appears and begins the final stage of the fight.

Zeus' Third Stage

This is the final stage of the fight with Zeus. He is rather annoying here and has some very damaging attacks. First off, make sure that if you're not attacking, you're blocking. I highly recommend using the Nemesis Whip in this section. When Zeus begins to move away from Gaia's heart, he is getting ready to run over to it to heal himself. This is when you should be attacking furiously. If you can damage him enough that it prevents him from running to heal himself, you can go over and attack the heart and gain back some health. You can also be hitting Zeus while you're there. If you don't stop him, he will start to make copies of himself which will distract you from focusing on him. The copies die easily and give you orbs, but they are still a pain to take care of. Keep using this strategy to wear down Zeus and eventually you will get the desired :circle: over his head. Perform the QTE to kill Zeus and receive this trophy.

Missable Trophies

Discover the secret 'Hades Room'

During your (first) time in Hades, you will come to a section where you have to push a pot full of bramble on to a fire to create more steam so you can fly up and pull the platform down. When you pull the platform down, quickly climb on top of it and open the door right in front of you. This leads to the secret room with all of the arms. You will earn the trophy once you open the door.

Successfully entertain Aphrodite

Shortly after leaving Poseidon's Chamber, you will come to a large bed chamber with Aphrodite and two of her "friends" on the bed with her. Speak to Aphrodite and she will (eventually) give you the option to complete the minigame. The sex minigame is a series of QTE events. When you have successfully completed the minigame, the trophy will pop up.

If you choose not to do the minigame, or fail, don't worry. The story brings you back through here later on, so you will have another chance to get this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/319/001.jpg Hit Man (B)

Perform a 1000-hit combo

This trophy is a lot easier than it sounds if you know where to do it. There are numerous places to get it, but I'll list the one that I used: the fight against Hercules.

I've seen people do this trophy at the boss fight against the giant scorpion as well. Here is a video that demonstrates that method.

Rip apart 1 Olympus Sentry

Simply find one of the Olympus Sentries and rip it apart. To rip it apart, first grab it using :circle: and the press :triangle:.

The Olympus Sentry is the most commonly occurring enemy in the game so you won't have any trouble finding one.

The trophy will unlock after you have successfully ripped apart 1 Olympus Sentry.

Blind 100 enemies with the Head of Helios

After you kill Helios, you can use his head to blind enemies and stun them, making it easier for you to attack them.

Just charge up a blinding flash by holding :triangle: for a few seconds then releasing it. It will blind all of the enemies that are within range of it. Simply do this for every enemy you come across once you have the Head. After you blind the 100th enemy, the trophy will unlock.

Deliver 50 kicks to Hounds

Every time you see one of the dogs running around, grab it with :circle: and Kratos will automatically kick the dog. Do this 50 times to unlock the trophy.

A great place to do this is in Poseidon's Chamber. You will come to a part where you have to go through a portal to weigh down the platform. In this area, the dogs spawn infinitely so you can just keep kicking the dogs until you get the trophy.

Summon every Soul with the Claws of Hades

Every weapon level of the Claws of Hades unlocks a couple of new souls that you can summon. Wait until you have maxed out the Claws, then start spawning all of the souls with :r2:. There are a total of 9 different souls that you need to summon to get this trophy.

To switch which soul you're going to summon, press :start: and press :triangle: to bring up the list of available souls. Select the next one you need and repeat this cycle until you receive the trophy.

Cover Kratos in 500 buckets of blood by killing the enemies

Just play through the game normally and you'll get this before long. I don't think it's actually possible to get through the game without getting this trophy (unless you stop playing before you get it :p).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/319/001.jpg No Guts, No Glory (B)

Gut 3 Centaur Generals

Throughout the game, there are 3 Centaur Generals that you will meet. The idea here is to beat them up enough that the :circle: QTE prompt is over their heads and then perform it. This will gut the Centaur General.

You have to do this to all 3 Centaur Generals in the game to get this trophy.

  • The first one you'll find is in Ares' tomb, as you make your way up Mount Olympus near the start of the game.
  • The second one is on the city steps of Olympia.
  • The last one is guarding the Gates of Tisiphone.

Collect all of the Gorgon Eyes

The description for this trophy is misleading. All you have to do is max out your health bar by collecting Gorgon Eyes. 12 Gorgon Eyes is all that is required for you to max out your health bar. Collect all of the Minotaur Horns

Like the two above, the description for this trophy is misleading. All you have to do is max out your item bar by collecting Minotaur Horns. 12 Minotaur Horns is all that is required for you to max out your item bar. Once you have collected 12 Minotaur Horns (in one playthrough; they don't stack over mulitple playthroughs), you will receive the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/319/002.jpg Maxed Out! (S)

Completely upgrade all the weapons

This is pretty self-explanatory. Upgrading all of your weapons to their maximum level will earn you this trophy. The hard part is getting it done. Kill everything in sight: enemies, pots, souls (in Hades). Whatever you can find that will give you red orbs, destroy it.

Alternatively, there is a glitch for this trophy:

1st you need to of beaten the game, and beaten all the challenges of Olympus to unlock the combat arena. Then set up the arena so you don't have infinite health, a difficulty higher then easy. (I used titan) and some enemies set to attack you. (the more powerful the enemies the better.) now go into the arena and die, and keep dieing until it asks you if you want to switch to easy, and select no. It will then take you out to the main menu and give you the maxed out trophy. While in the arena you can do what ever you want. I was practicing fighting 3 Satyrs at once on titan when I stumbled across this glitch. All that matters is that you end up dieing.

***Credit to The_White_Fang for finding this glitch***

***This glitch was patched a while ago, so simply delete the patch from your GAME DATA UTILITY, not Save Game Utility. God Of War III doesn't need the patch because there is no online component. After you have gotten the trophy, you can re-install the patch if you so desire.

Collect all of the 'Godly Possessions'

There are 10 Godly Possessions littered throughout the game. Find all 10 to receive this trophy.

Here is a list of all of the Godly Possessions and their functions:

  • Zeus' Eagle - Gives you infinite Rage of Sparta.
  • Hera's Chalice - The health metre will slowly drain, but never completely empty.
  • Hades' Helm - Max Health, Magic, and Item bars.
  • Poseidon's Conch Shell - Gives you infinite Magic.
  • Helios' Shield - Increases the hit counter by 3x.
  • Hermes' Coin - 10x red orbs given.
  • Aphrodite's Garter - Continue to use Blades of Athena.

  • Hephaestus' Ring - You automatically succeed in all QTEs.
  • Daedelus' Schematics - Infinite Item bar.

Beat the Labyrinth without dying or failing

This trophy can be frustrating. The Labyrinth is pretty difficult, even on Normal difficulty, so you'll want to take your time when going through.

First off, make a save file at the Save Point just before you enter the Labyrinth. This way, if you die you can just re-load the save. There are a few Save Points littered throughout the Labyrinth so make good use of them. Make sure you don't overwrite your save from before you entered :p.

The last battle of the Labyrinth is very difficult. There will be a lot of enemies along with spikes that come out of the ground in different places. Always make sure that you are aware of where the spikes are going to pop up. Too many times I have been frustrated by them when I was so close to winning.

Make use of the blocking, countering and evading skills you've been working on and you should do fine.

Beat Titan Mode

This trophy unlocks after you have beaten the game on Titan (hard) difficulty. Titan mode is very difficult and will get you very frustrated if you aren't patient and willing to die over and over again. I have listed a few tips below to try to make your Titan playthrough as easy as possible.

1. I highly recommend using the max weapons and health glitch outlined in this thread: http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/god-war-iii/43902-extremely-easy-way-beat-titan-mode.html This will give you all of the weapons maxed out and full health and magic from the start of the game.

2. Make sure that you are comfortable parrying attacks using the Golden Fleece. This will save your life more times than you can count. Being able to deflect damage is of utmost importance in Titan mode.

3. If you can't parry attacks or are getting overwhelmed by enemies, make ample use of the evade function. A simple flick of the :rs: can be a lifesaver, especially against the Cerberus dog in Hades.

4. Don't button-mash. Button-mashing is a sure-fire way to getting killed repeatedly. Always try to have a strategy when going in to a big fight.

5. Master the combos. This goes hand-in-hand with the previous tip. Knowing what the combos do and their area of effect will help out a lot when trying to make it through a big fight.

These tips and some stellar playing on your part will help guide you through your Titan difficulty playthrough.

Beat the Challenge of Olympus

To get this trophy, you must successfully complete the 7 challenges. These challenges vary in difficulty and skill required. Some a pretty easy while others will make you want to pull your hair out. The best advice I can give is to have patience. It took me 3 days to finish one of these challenges, so just take your time.

Unless you want to make use of the glitch, I would say start out on Titan immediately. Getting aMAZEd on Titan is just as difficult as on Normal: on both instances you have to reload the last autosave (not restart checkpoint) in case you die to ensure no dead is added to the count. These autosave moments are the same as which you would use with restart checkpoint, only you're loading it manually. Thing is, you have to get through the maze on Titan anyway to get the platinum, so why not save yourself the sorrow of two playthroughs by just remembering to load the autosave in the maze? The only difference is that you can't use restart checkpoint and overall it'll take a bit longer, but the bits of the maze you'll have to conquer (it will autosave somewhere half way through too!) in one straight will be the same.

On youtube, look up the video channel of shinobier. This guy has video's of his non-upgrade Chaos run. Copy his tactics and you're golden!

This is what you're looking for.

i decided to list it going through on Normal first because many people (myself included) find Titan difficulty to be very difficult. Especially if you are new to the game. I've played and beaten GOW and GOW II and I still had trouble with this game on Titan.

The Labyrinth is tough on its own. That's why I recommended to get aMAZEd on the Normal playthrough. The Titan run should be used for getting Unhuman and for the health, magic, and item bar upgrades trophies.

This guide is awesome, thanks.

Can someone just say in which order will the missable trophies be able to be done throughout the story?

It's hard to keep in mind 18 missable trophies, not knowing which one has to be done next, whithout spoiling myself about the locations and events.

Edit: nevermind, already did all of them, incredible game.

In olympia after you kill the chimera you have to cross a gap by jumping between harpies, on the other side of the gap there are two gates one is the path that you have to follow to continue the game the other gate has an explosive barrel in it and I have no idea what it is for so after exploring some and looking it up to no avail here I am asking if anyone knows what it is for? section I am talking about The City of Olympia Cont'd - God of War 3 Wiki Guide - IGN

I've never seen that barrel used for anything. It's probably there for you to use during the fight with the Olympus Sentry's there when you arrive on that platform.

Thanks for the guide. Looks like I'll have to revisit this game to clear it.

Thanks mate!

i did the maxed out glitch and now i have full health and magic. can i still get are you horny to win and eye candy.

You should be able to. I can't imagine why not. Since the maxed out glitch allows you to unlock Unhuman, you should still be able to do Eye Candy and Horny to Win, although, you don't need to be on Titan difficulty to get them and you only have to play through about 2/3 of the game to get all of the required collectibles

So, I have got almost all the trophies on this game, and I am about to beat the final boss on Titan.

I have not yet got 'It's getting hot in here...' trophy (Burn 100 enemies with the Bow of Apollo).

My question is, does this need to be done on 1 playthrough? or is it cumulative?
