About the Game:

Set in the realm of Greek mythology, God of War: Ghost of Sparta is a single-player game that allows players to take on the powerful role of Spartan warrior Kratos. This new adventure picks up after the first God of War concludes, telling the story of Kratos' ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid himself of the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must embark on a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds, and finally answer long-awaited questions about his dark past. Armed with the deadly chained Blades of Chaos, he will have to overcome armies of mythological monsters, legions of undead soldiers, and amazingly dangerous and brutal landscapes throughout his merciless quest.

Step 1: Complete the game on Spartan Mode (Hard) while collecting all the Relic’s of the Gods

You'll want to start the game off on Spartan Mode and play all the way through the game. During this playthrough you'll unlock the majority of the trophies in the game. Many of the trophies happen to be story related and cannot be missed while playing. While playing through the game there are a few things that you should always keep in mind, which are the following:

  • Collecting all the Gorgon Eyes

  • Collecting all the Phoenix Feathers

  • Collecting all the Minotaur Horns

  • Collecting all the Godly Possessions, except for the Grave Digger’s Shovel

  • Open every chest you come across

Unlike with God of War: Chains of Olympus, this game has more collectibles for you to collect, which can all be missed if you haven't been opening chests that you encounter. To make matters even worse for you, 'Godly Possessions' have made a return appearance with the Ghost of Sparta trophy list. This means you'll have to collect all of the Godly Possessions within the game for the missable Treasure Hunter trophy. The 6th and final relic is actually in the Temple of Zeus, which you'll get in Step 2 of this roadmap. You can refer Wozamil's Collectibles Thread to find the collectibles as you're playing through the game. Below are the Collectible trophies you'll want to unlock during this step:

  • Eye Can't Believe It!
    (S)
  • Bird Flu
    (S)
  • Mess with the Bull...
    (S)

And the following list are the 5 Godly Possessions found in the story mode along with their locations:

  1. Callisto's Armlet
    - Found in The Temple of Poseidon

  2. Athena's Owl
    - Found in The Temple of Athena

  3. Aphrodite's Ambrosia
    - Found in Sparta (Complete the sex mini game 3 times)

  4. The King's Ring
    - Found in The River of Lament

  5. The Bonds of Ares
    - Found in The Domain of Death

With that being said, you should be mindful of the other missable trophies that are not related to collectibles. These missable trophies can cause you to complete a 2nd playthrough as a speed-run. Below are the missable trophies in the order they will appear in the game along with the chapter that each of them can be found in:

  • Make Her Scream
    – The Caldera

  • A Hero’s Welcome
    – Sparta

  • The Midas Trick
    – River of Lament

Please refer to the trophy guide section for more information. Other than that, game is very short and will only take you between an average of 6-8 hours to complete the game for the first time since the game is very straightforward. Once you have completed the game on Spartan Mode you'll unlock the Zeus May Cry trophy.

Step 2: Use Combat Arena to farm Red Orbs and to purchase everything from The Temple of Zeus

Once you've completed the game you'll unlock both Combat Arena and The Temple of Zeus that can be found in "Treasures" on the game's main menu screen. You will need 1,000,000 red orbs to purchase every item from the Temple. This will be in addition to the cost of upgrading all magic and weapons. See Treasure Hunter for tips to quickly get the orbs and get Greatest Hits at the same time. This will get you the final relic, the Grave Digger’s Shovel. If you collected each of the relics during your hard playthrough, you will have earned Treasure Hunter. You can also use the Arena to finish any combat related trophies you're still missing such as the incinerating 500 enemies or ripping out 10 Keres Wraith enemy hearts. Below is a list of trophies that Combat Arena and The Temple of Zeus will help you unlock:

  • Burning Sensation
    (S)
  • Master of Arms
    (S)
  • I'd Hit That
    (S)
  • Collisions
    (S)
  • Heartless
    (S)
  • Greatest Hits
    (G)
  • Treasure Hunter
    (G)

Step 3: Complete the Challenge of the Gods

Once you have completed the game, you'll unlock the Challenge of Gods within the "Treasures" options in the game's main menu screen. There are a total of 13 challenges that you'll have to complete. Most of them are pretty easy - with one exception, Unscathed. Once you have completed all these challenges you'll unlock your God Amongst Men trophy. If you're having a difficult time with a challenge, then please refer to the Challenge of the Gods Guide for more information.

Step 4: Clean up on Mortal Mode (Easy)

This step may or may not be need if you've been following the guide. But if you have missed any missable trophies found in the story mode only. Then I suggest that you do a speed-run playthrough on Mortal Mode by using an unlocked costume. Below are the settings you should select:

  • Select New Game

  • Select desired difficulty

  • Select YES when asked to carry over previous saved data

  • Select either God Armor or Deimos costumes

  • Press
    :start:
    and then
    :l1:
and turn on both The Bonds of Ares and Callisto's Armlet to enable infinite magic and auto mini game wins (only if you have these Godly Possessions).

With those above settings you'll beat the game in about 2 hours or less if you're simply trying to get back to a certain point of time in the game for a missable trophy.

Incinerate 500 Enemies

You need to kill 500 enemies by setting them on fire with the use of Thera's Bane. This trophy is cumulative and you'll most likely have to grind this trophy out after you completed the game. Once you've completed the game, head over to the Combat Arena found in the Treasures options. Now select any enemy type you wish to face in the arena such as the Atlantis Males or Females and incinerate them with the (hold) :r1: + :square: buttons. This will take some time to incinerate 500 enemies, but it can be done in about 10-20 minutes.

Completely upgrade all weapons and magic

For this trophy, you must completely upgrade all your weapons and magic. To do this you'll need to collect enough red orbs during your playthrough. You can do this by collecting the red orbs from defeated enemies, destroying various objects, or by opening chests found throughout the game. Unfortunately you're not going to have everything upgraded by the time you're done with your first playthrough. Thankfully, you can earn red orbs in the Combat Arena found in the Treasures options. Below are the things that you'll need to unlock and purchase:

[spoiler=1]

Weapons:

The Blades of Athena

Level 2 - Upgrade Cost: 2950 Red Orbs

Level 3 - Upgrade Cost: 8550 Red Orbs

Throw 10 Enemies into other enemies

This trophy is pretty simple. All you have to do is grab an enemy by using pressing the :l1: + :circle: buttons and then press the :circle: button again to throw them. You should be able to earn this trophy naturally while you're playing, but if not, visit the Combat Arena found in the Treasures options.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/30.jpg Heartless (S)

Rip out 10 Keres Wraith enemy hearts

The Keres Wraiths are the deadly minions of Thanatos. These are the most annoying enemies in the game as they're capable of attacking Kratos from underground at long range. Plus they have a rush attack that is hard to dodge or block. This trophy requires you to lower their health until they fall down and have the :circle: prompt above them. The best method to kill them is to parry with :l1: when they raise their arms and the yellow circle appears under them. Once you parry, rush in and attack them. Be careful using full combos as you may accidentally kill them without getting a chance to rip out their heart. When the :circle: prompt appears above their head, quickly rush to them and press the :circle: button to have Kratos viciously stabs it in the back, ripping its heart out. You can earn this trophy in the story mode of your first playthrough, but if not, visit the Combat Arena found in the Treasures options. Note: It'll cost 75,000 Red Orbs from the Temple of Zeus to unlock the Keres Wraiths in Combat Arena.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/35.jpg God Amongst Men (G)

Beat the Challenge of the Gods

The Challenge of the Gods can be unlocked by completing the game once. You must clear and complete both The Challenge of Ares and The Challenge of Athena. Ares has a total of 5 challenges while Athena has a total of 8 challenges making a total of 13 different challenges. Most of them are fairly easy, with the exception of a couple. One difficult one is “Unscathed,” which requires you to survive a few waves of enemies without getting hit. If you're having a difficult time with a challenge, then please refer to the http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/god-war-ghost-sparta/126028-god-war-ghost-sparta-challenge-gods-guide.html for more information.

Collect all of the Godly Possessions

Missable! There are six Relics that need to be collected for this trophy. Five of them appear in the story mode, and one from the Temple of Zeus. For a text guide you can refer Wozamil's Collectibles Thread. Below is a listing of the 5 Godly Possessions found in the story mode along with their locations:

  1. Callisto's Armlet
    - Found in The Temple of Poseidon

  2. Athena's Owl
    - Found in The Temple of Athena

  3. Aphrodite's Ambrosia
    - Found in Sparta (Complete the sex mini game 3 times)

  4. The King's Ring
    - Found in The River of Lament

  5. The Bonds of Ares
    - Found in The Domain of Death

The 6th and final relic, The Grave Digger’s Shovel, is in the Temple of Zeus. This will require you to purchase everything inside The Temple of Zeus for a total of 1,000,000 Red Orbs. Once you purchased everything a huge ladder case will come out of the floor towards Zeus. Climb this ladder up and press the :circle: button to grapple over to the grapple point and jump off it with :cross: and then press the :circle: button again to grapple over to another grappling point. Swing towards Zeus's hand and double jump onto it. Now rotate the lever you see on Zeus's hand until the ladder case lowers and opens up a secret passageway. Jump off Zeus's hand and descend down the staircase into a cavern that will contain the final Godly Possession, Grave Digger’s Shovel. http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/35.jpg Zeus May Cry (G)

Finish the game (Hard Mode)

Simply complete the game on Spartan Mode difficulty. Below are some basic God of War series tips and tricks.

Zeus May Cry General Tips:

  • Save Points: Keep more than one save file. You'll want to save your game every time whenever you reach a save point.
  • Game hints: Take note of the game's various hints given to you while playing. These hints are extremely helpful and they don't go away without saying something useful.
  • Health, Magic and Fire: You'll want to increase all three skills to the maximum by collecting Gorgon Eyes, Phoenix Feathers, and Minotaur Horns. These items can be found in grey chest throughout the game. There are a total of 15 Gorgon Eyes, Phoenix Feathers, and Minotaur Horns for you to collect and each skill increases for every 5 collected
  • The game is smart when you're dying: If you happen to be dying a certain number of times repeatedly over and over again at the same checkpoint and your health is below about 85%. The game will detect that you're having a difficult time killing the enemies and will restore your health meter to about 85% as a way to secretly help you. The game will also do this if your health is over 85% and will instead lower your health meter. In a way, this is a double edge sword for you or against you.
  • Blocking: If you're receiving too much punishment from enemies' attacks, then try to block their attacks by holding down the :l1: button. Doing this will help you block many attacks, or you can reflect projectile attacks and even parry enemy attacks back at them with you pressed the :l1: button at the right timing. Be careful when blocking because certain attacks are completely unblockable.
  • Evading enemies attacks: The :rs: button is your friend and you should become accustomed to using it to dodge attacks.
  • Grabbing move: You can spam the grab move by pressing the :circle: button to weaken or to instantly kill certain enemies. Also note that other enemies cannot or will not attack you until your grab animation is finished. Certain enemies you can repeatedly press the :circle: button over and over again until you killed them, then move on to another enemy and repeat. This makes Hard Mode much easier for you if you’re facing numerous enemies at once. Do be careful though that sometimes you'll have to complete a QTE before you can kill an enemy after grabbing them.
  • Thera's Bane: Is a very handy weapon in the game for it has the ability to set enemies on fire. The best thing about it is that it also places explosive cores onto the enemies it damages. These explosive cores will simultaneously explode damaging all enemies near the one being exploded. This is a great way to weaken groups of enemies and to thin the crowd. It's also able to stun certain enemies briefly, leaving them open to receive more punishment.
  • Invulnerability: Take advantage of either the Eye of Atlantis or the Horn of Boreas invulnerability. When you perform these magic skills you won't take any damage from enemies.
  • Arms of Sparta: Although this is a one-on-one combat type of weapon. It's powerfully fast and agile as it deals more damage than the Blades of Athena. You'll want to max this weapon out as fast as possible when you receive it. The best thing about the weapon is that it's able to be thrown at enemies as well as allowing Kratos to move while blocking.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg There Will Be Consequences (H)(B)

Sink Atlantis

Story related, can’t be missed. This is during the Volcano Core after you've killed Scylla. You'll have to escape from the volcano’s eruption by climbing a wall out of the volcano. Once you've climbed your way out of the volcano's eruption to safety, Atlantis is unfortunately not so lucky and is destroyed thus unlocking your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg The Puppy Mill (H)(B)

Break the grinder

Story related, can’t be missed. Located in the Temple of Athena where you'll have to jump down into the Rabid Hound pit (the dog enemies). Once you're down in the Rabid Hound pit, grab them by pressing the :circle: button and then kick them into the gear grinder to eventually break it completely. Finish off any other remaining dogs and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Straight Flush (H)(B)

Survive the vortex

Story related, can’t be missed. This is during the boat ride that the Spartan soldiers have prepared for Kratos. This will be one hell of a battle against you for you'll have to fight wave after waves of enemies. The reason this will be one hell of a fight is because you'll have to stay alive to the best of your abilities due to the fact that there's no health orb chest. You do have a blue orb chest which you should make use of wisely. Eventually, about half way into the battle lighting strikes will start to rain down all over the boat. If you're having a difficult time killing the enemies, then I suggest that you spam the grabbing move by pressing the :circle: button against every opponent.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg That Hit the Spot (H)(B)

Kill Lanaeus

Story related, can’t be missed. Lanaeus is the guard in the volcano in the beginning of the game in The Caldera. As you approach Lanaeus, he'll shut the gate on you. Climb the wall over to the left, and kill the Scylla Brood (the spider-like monsters) that attack you. Drop down onto the lower platform and use your Arms of Sparta to kill him from a distance by using the Spear Assault move with the (hold) :r1: + :square: buttons. Once you've killed him to lower the gate your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg A Bridge to the Past (H)(B)

Raise the bridge to Death’s Domain

Story related, can’t be missed. After activating the stone statues that are surrounding the Death's Domain. You'll have to do some backtracking towards the area where you'll have to fight some Harpies and three Geryon enemies before you can head up the stairs. Once you're up the stairs, use your Eye of Atlantis magic powers to raise the bridge to Death's Domain by pressing the :circle: button. Once you've raised the bridge your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Dental Work (H)(B)

Rip out Scylla’s jaw

Story related, can’t be missed. Scylla the legendary sea monster in Atlantis summoned by Poseidon - the God of the Seas and ruler of Atlantis. This fight takes part in 3 phases.

[spoiler=13]

Boss Fight - Scylla’s attacks:

  • Tentacles Combo:
A standard three hit combo wither her tentacles.

  • Claw Smash:
Slams the ground with her claw.

  • Offspring:
Simultaneously releases small spider-like offspring, Scylla Brood, to attack their prey.

  • Bite Combo:
    Standard two bite combo attack.

Phase 1:

During this phase Scylla will use her Tentacle Combo attacks to attack you. Simply hold the :l1: button to block these lashes and run up towards her and perform a basic Blades of Athena combo attack. While attacking her she'll use her Claw Smash attack in an attempt to crush you, however you can parry this attack by pressing the :l1: button at the right timing. Rinse and repeat these steps over again until she runs to the other side of the field.

Phase 2:

During this phase Scylla will summon her offspring, Scylla Broods, who are capable of grabbing you and shooting acid at you from long range. If they grab you you'll have to press the :l1: + :r1: buttons repeatedly until you're free. I suggest you kill her offspring by spamming the grab move with the :circle: button. While you're facing her offspring Scylla will be attacking you with her Bite Combo attack. So be sure to keep an out on her and simply block her biting attacks. Rinse and repeat these steps over again until she once again returns to her original starting position.

Phase 3:

During this final phase, Scylla will become more ferocious with her attacks, however, this is still the same phase as Phase 1. So repeat what you've done in phase 1 over again but be sure to block a lot this time. Once she collapses, jump up on the platform to your right and operate the crank wheel by pressing the :circle: button and then repeatedly tab the :circle: button to lower the crank into its jaws. Now quickly press the prompted :circle: button again to complete the QTEs that follow.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg A Mother’s Sacrifice (H)(B)

Kill Callisto

Story related, can’t be missed. Callisto was the Spartan mother of Kratos and Deimos. Kratos will run into his mother in the Temple of Poseidon. As she was about to reveal the name of Kratos' father, she transformed into a hideous beast.

[spoiler=14]

Boss Fight - Callisto’s attacks:

  • Arm Slam Combo:
    Standard two slam combo attack.

  • Charge:
Charge attack that will grab you and followed up by ferocious biting

  • Grab Throw:
Reach out to grab Kratos and then throws him against a wall.

Phase 1:

There are no phases to this battle but Callisto is very similar to the Cyclops enemies. Callisto does nothing but swings her arms at the ground, charges, or grabs you to throw you against a wall. It's extremely important to take note that all her attacks are completely unblockable, so you'll have to dodge with the :rs: button frequently. When the match starts take advantage and have Callisto destroy the pillars around the arena. You'll want them all destroyed so you can focus staying around the center of the arena. Simply attack her with the Blades of Athena's basic attacks and continue to dodge her moves. If Callisto does manages to grab you with her Charge attack you'll have to repeatedly press both the :l1: + :r1: buttons to break free and the beat the crap outta of her with the :square: or :triangle: buttons, then press the prompted button that follows to throw her across the room (this move can kill her if she's weaken enough). Eventually when she's knocked out, go up and finish her off by pressing the :circle: button.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Yippee Ki-yay! (H)(B)

Escape the burning building

Story related, can’t be missed. After killing the three Keres Wraith, head through the now unsealed door that they came from and as you step foot on the next path the whole floor will begin to crumble beneath you. You'll need to quickly escape this building before you fall and die. Break down every door in front of you and complete the sliding and grapple point jumps along the way. Once you've made it to safety your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Ghost in the Machine (H)(B)

Deactivate the crusher

Story related, can’t be missed. Located in the Temple of Thanatos during the Death Trap. When you first jump onto the ledge, you'll notice the crusher trap. You can simply wait until the crusher block hits and begins to return back to it's starting position. Once it returns backwards, climb up the ledge and quickly run into the chamber on the right. Follow this path all the way into a room operated by gears. When you enter, Cursed Remains (the skeleton enemies), will spawn to attack you. While fighting them, use your Thera's Bane attacks to break the four gears and to deactivate the crusher trap. Once you crusher has been deactivated your trophy will unlock.

Finish Deimos battle

Story related, can’t be missed. Deimos is he younger brother of Kratos who was abducted by Ares during his childhood. Kratos will later find his brother in the Domain of Death, fueled by hatred for the brother who failed to save him from his torment.

[spoiler=15]

Boss Fight - Deimos attacks:

  • Gauntlet Combo:
    Standard four hit punch combo.

  • Charged Gauntlet Punch:
A power blow from his gauntlet.

  • Dirt Sweep:
Deimos cheats and fights dirty by swing his punch close to ground level to fling dirt into Kratos eyes thus blinding him.

  • Gauntlet Pound:
Ferociously pounds the ground with his gauntlet.

  • Gauntlet Jump Slam:
Deimos jumps into the air to crash his gauntlet down.

  • Defend/Blocking:
Able to defend himself from attacks.

Phase 1:

Deimos isn't difficult to defeat at all for he's easy to dodge. He's very strong though with his ferocious punches from his gauntlet and is able to defend himself from some of your attacks. I suggest that you use the Blades of Athena with the Thera's Bane fire powers to damage him and also be sure to spam the Scourge of Erinys magic skill by pressing the :left: button while you're fighting. You can block all his attacks as well as parry them all with the :l1: button. Sometimes during the battle, Deimos will cheat and punch at ground level to fling dirt into Kratos eyes. When this happens simply press both the :l1: + :r1: buttons repeatedly to whip your eyes. Continue to use the Thera's Bane to quickly deal with him and eventually Deimos tackle Kratos over a ledge and proceeded to pummel his brother into submission, using the gauntlet.

Kill King Midas

Story related, can’t be missed.

Story related, can’t be missed. This is during The River Lament where you'll have to kill King Midas. It's pretty simple to kill him, for all you have to do are the quick time events to knock him unconscious. Once you knocked him out, carry him towards the lava flowing outside the cave by pressing the :circle: button. While you're carrying him, you need to drop him every now and then to kill the Rabid Hounds that come to attack you. While fighting the Rabid Hounds, Midas will crawl away from you so beat him unconscious and continue to carry him towards the lava flow. Once you made it, he'll grab onto a rock so rotate the :ls: button and throw him into the lava which will kill him and turn the entire thing to gold. Once you've killed King Midas your trophy will unlock.

Save Deimos

Story related, can’t be missed. This is located in Suicide Bluffs, near the end of the game. You'll have to climb up the wall that you've landed on and as you're climbing you'll need to break the rocks on the ceiling. Continue climbing as fast as possible and once you climbed up the ledge run towards Deimos and press the :circle: button, then repeatedly press the :circle: button, and finally, repeatedly press both the :l1: + :r1: buttons to save Deimos. He'll now join you for the final fight against Thanatos, armed with your Arms of Sparta. Save your game at the save point and follow to face the final Boss. Your trophy will eventually unlock after the cut-scene.

Kill Thanatos

Story related, can’t be missed. Thanatos is the God of Death and father of Erinys. He serves as the game's final boss. This fight takes part in 5 phases.

[spoiler=16]

Boss Fight - Thanatos attacks:

  • Sword Combo:
    Standard 3 hit combo attack.

  • Flying Stagger Crash:
Jumps of cliff to stun the brothers

  • Grabbing:
Will grab whoever closest to him when stunned.

  • Sword Charge:
    Single swing from his sword.

  • Gigantic Winged Beast:
Transformation into a gigantic winged beast.

  • Energy Blasts:
Shoots a focused blast of energy.

  • Arm Swipe:
Swipes his arm across the field.

  • Shockwave:
Stabs sword into the ground and creates a shockwave with it.

  • Aerial Combos:
    Standard aerial combo attacks.

  • Aerial Crash:
Crashes down upon you while flying.

  • Fist Crash:
Crashes his fist onto the ground to crush you.

Phase 1:

During this phase, Thanatos will be alternating between both Kratos and Deimos. I suggest that you attack him with your Blades of Athena normal combos empowered by your fire abilities. He'll attack you with his sword attacks which can easily be parried or blocked with the :l1: button. Whenever he flies onto the cliff, you should always have Deimos throw his spear at him by pressing the  button. Thantos will always come crashing down off the cliff to stun both the brothers and will grab either Kratos or Deimos depending on whoever is closer to him. Once he grabs either of the brothers, you should assist each other until he releases them from his grip. Continue attacking him and blocking his attacks until you eventually throw him off the cliff.

Phase 2:

During this phase, Thanatos will transform into a gigantic winged beast and will now begin to shoot Energy Blasts at you which must be reflected back at him. Once you reflected the Energy Blast back, you'll have to attack his left arm with your Thera's Bane fire power. You'll scatter his armor on his left armor little by little. Once he recovers, he'll swipe his arm across the field which you can dodge by double jumping away from it. Continue reflecting and breaking his armor until he eventually returns back to his human form.

Phase 3:

During this phase, Thanatos has now become more aggressive with his attacks and will now perform aerial moves as well. All of his attacks can still be blocked, dodged, and parried, except for his aerial attack when he slams down on you which has to be dodged only. With that being said, the rest of this phase is the exact same as Phase 1. In other words simply continue to attack him until he eventually transforms into his winged form.

Phase 4:

During this phase, you'll be back to reflect his Energy Blast attacks. Once he's stunned you can attack his arm with your Blades of Athena. Again, once he recovers he'll swipe his arm across the field and will now begin to crash his fist onto the ground to crush you. Simply continue with the attacking, reflect and jumping out of the way of his attacks until you're prompted to press the :circle: button against him and then complete the following QTEs that follow afterwards.

Phase 5:

This is the final phase of the fight were Kratos is fueled with the fire powers of rage. There's nothing special to say here, since Kratos is now overpowered, but you'll still need to attack and dodge his attacks. Thanato will do the same attacks that have already be mention before. So you should be fine. When you finally weaken him and the prompted :circle: button appears, enter the mini game and continue to complete any other QTE to finally kill Thanatos.

Kill Erinys

Story related, can’t be missed. Erinys is the daughter of Thanatos, the God of Death. Although Erinys isn't the final boss fight, she's considered the hardest boss to kill in the game. This fight takes part in 4 phases.

[spoiler=17]

Boss Fight - Erinys attacks:

  • Claw:
    A standard claw attack.

  • Scourge of Erinys:
    Unleashes dark voids.

  • Raven Summoning:
    Summons Ravens to attack.

  • Raven Transformation:
A monstrous giant bird with thick armor.

  • Dive Swoop:
Comes swooping at you (Raven form).

Phase 1:

During this phase, Erinys will mainly claw, summon ravens and will use her signature move: Scourge of Erinys at you. All of her attacks can be blocked or parried with the :l1: button. When she summons her Ravens you'll want to quickly kill all three of them with a grab from the :circle: button. Be careful though when going for a grab kill because Erinys will always attack after the grabbing animation ends. You'll want to attack her with the Blades of Athena powered by Thera's Bane fire abilities. You can use your magic against her as well to give you invulnerability by using the Eye of Atlantis to damage her which is very effective. Continue attacking and blocking until you're prompted to press the :circle: button to rip her wing off. Then repeat the the same method to rip off her last wing.

Phase 2:

During this phase she'll grow her wings back and will transform fully healed. When she transforms she'll come swooping at you but Kratos will grab her. So rotate the :ls: button to throw her back onto the platform. Go and attack her and before she gets up. Once she recovers she'll come swopping in under the platform to destroy it this time. Complete the sliding and jumping QTEs that follow to eventually jump off and grab Erinys.

Phase 3:

During this phase of the fight, the battle will now take place in the sky. You'll be free falling after Erinys so dive faster by pressing and holding the :cross: button to increase your diving speed. Once close enough to grab her, press the :circle: button and use Thera's Bane fire abilities to pierce through her armor and attack her repeatedly with either the :square: or :triangle: buttons. Repeat about three times until both of you crash down into a forest.

Phase 4:

During this final phase, Erinys will simply attack you from a distance with her Scourge of Erinys attack since she's unable to fight any longer. Simply run up to her and press the prompted :circle: button and complete the QTE to kill her.

Entertain the brothel whores

Missable! This is found in Sparta. Upon entering the city, you will see a building on the left with some “ladies” standing outside. Approach them and press the :circle: button when prompted. While, you only have to complete this QTE once for the trophy, you will need to do this a total of three times for Aphrodite’s Ambrosia Relic

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Ares Who? (H)(B)

Kill the dissenter

Story related, can’t be missed. The Dissenter is a Spartan fanatic of Ares, the former, deceased God of War. Once in Sparta, Kratos takes a secret path to the Temple of Ares. Along the way, Kratos will accidentally release the Dissenter who'll release the Piraeus Lion, the gigantic Spartan beast. After slaying the lion you'll have to kill the dissenter and make him regret saying Ares was the true God of War.

[spoiler=18]

Boss Fight - Piraeus Lion's attacks:

  • Roar:
    Stuns Kratos.

  • Paw Swipe:
    Swings his paw at Kratos.

  • Grab Biting:
Shoves Kratos to ground and bites him repeatedly.

Phase 1:

There's nothing special to say about this fight. The Piraeus Lion is sadly nothing more than an overgrown cat. It only has three attacks and his main attack of his Paw Swipe can be parried with the :l1: button. Occasionally during the fight he'll roar and stun Kratos. When this happens, simply tab both the :l1: + :r1: buttons repeatedly. The same goes with his Grab Biting attack so keep a long distance between yourself and him. Continue to attack him with normal attacks until you're prompted to press the :circle: button to finish his off.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Inner Child Abuse (H)(B)

Defeat your inner self

Story related, can’t be missed. This is during the Temple of Ares. A brief cut-scene will happen where you'll see Kratos' younger self pop out of the mirror to kill the present Kratos. Fend off your younger reflection self by completing the quick time events and throwing him into the mirror by simply using the :ls: analog stick to aim your inner self into each section of the mirror by pressing the :ls: button up, down, left and right. Each section glows blue and will crack when it's hit. Once you thrown him into each section of the mirror, Kratos will charge him and will crush him into the mirror by your repeatedly pressing the :circle: button. After you crush your inner self, the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Blades of Fire (H)(B)

Acquire Thera’s Bane

Story related, can’t be missed. This is during The Caldera, where you'll have a chance to obtain the missable trophy, Make Her Scream (S). After you've dropped down into the lower levels with the two doors, ignore the small door for it needs a Gear to be opened. So head over to the large doors and ignore Lanaeus' warnings. Continue on the path towards the titan Thera. After a cut-scene, you will walk up to the Titan and with a :circle: prompt, you will then begin pulling the Titan closer to you by rotating your :ls: button. Once you forcibly extracted Thera's Bane, your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/02.jpg Screwed! (H)(B)

Kill Scylla

Story related, can’t be missed. Scylla is the legendary sea monster that has been trying to kill Kratos. This time, however, Scylla will be killed by Kratos shortly after the volcano starts to erupt. Complete the quick time events underwater and eventually you'll have to rotate the :ls: button to use the giant Archimedian Screw to drill it through her head. After finally killing the legendary sea monster, your trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/30.jpg The Midas Trick (H)(S)

Attempt to open the Golden Chest for 30 seconds

Missable! This is located in The River Lament near the end of the game. Just past a save point, you will come across a Golden Chest to your left. You can’t miss it for the chest is right in front of a giant golden Cyclops statue. To see the exact location, watch this video.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1071/30.jpg Make Her Scream (H)(S)

Make a Titan scream for over a minute.

Missable! There is only one place where you can get this. This is right before you acquire Thera’s Bane and it’s during The Caldera. After a cut-scene, you will walk up to the Titan and after pressing the prompted :circle: button, you'll begin pulling the Titan closer to you by rotating your :ls: button. The chains will break off if you pull too far and she’ll stop screaming if you don’t pull far enough.

The trick is to watch Kratos. More specifically, watch how far back he is leaning and adjust your rotation speed with the :ls: button accordingly. Slow your rotation if Kratos leans further back, and speed it up if he begins to lean forward. It might take a few minutes to get the timing or a couple of tries to get it right, but if you fail just restart the checkpoint. You'll have to make her scream for one minute straight without error to unlock the trophy.

BRAVO, man! Another terrific guide! I could've used this guide 3 days ago, but better late than never and I'm sure this will help out a ton of players.

If I can give you guys a tip on on the Greatest Hits trophy, it is easily attained in 2 separate locations in this game.

The first time is when you're going for the Puppy Mill trophy. The dogs will re-spawn infinitely creating a perfect opportunity for the 1,000 hits. As soon as the battle begins (after dropping off the ledge into the stage and a short cut-scene), dodge to the back of the stage and press L1 + Square for the Cyclone of Chaos to move back in to the middle of the screen. As soon as the move ends dodge roll back to the edge and press L1 + Square again. Repeat to 1,000. Just try to stay in the middle of the "road" that leads up to the grinders as the dogs all spawn at the other edges of the stage. Also, try to time hitting R1 with the last rotation or two of the Cyclone so you can get some burn in on the dogs to help with the Burning Sensation trophy.

The only things you need to be careful of when you do this is to 1) make sure you don't try anything outside of the Cyclone and 2) don't let any of the dogs get behind you. Many times you'll end the Cyclone with a dog in mid attack, if you try any move besides the dodge, they will jump on you ending your combo. If a dog gets behind you, be careful when dodge rolling back so you don't end up evading into his attack.

The second opportunity is the much safer one when going for Greatest Hits in game, it's during the fight with Piraeus Lion in the Jail of Sparta. You first have to work him down until the Circle prompt floats over his head indicating that the QTE is available. At this point you can continue to hit him as many times as you want, but he won't die until you activate the QTE, so just keep spamming the Cyclone of Chaos (L1 + Square) to 1,000. Every so often he'll snap out of the QTE phase and hop to the side so make sure you stay on top of him with your hits and he'll quickly go back into the QTE phase.

Both of these tactics have already been posted elsewhere in the forum, but it might be nice for someone new to the game to see how this can be done during their first play through.

Both of those methods are certainly going to get you the trophy earlier, however it does extend the time to plat slightly. You'll have to grind some orbs in the arena anyways, so you can do both at the same time, plus, it is easier. But you're correct, it's possible to to do earlier.

I got King Midas' Ring, but I don't know where to select it. I think I've checked the menu thoroughly. I also know I have gotten everything in the game. I just need to purchase things at the Temple.

Once your in the game, hit start, hit R1 twice, and use the D-pad to scroll to the relic.

Both of these make sense; I can't vouch personally though -- the lion especially since it's much like the Basilisk method in Chains of Olympus. The best I did elsewhere on my own was right after you get the last (ice) magic. I just spammed it and stood still... it got me 772 or something. :(

I agree with you though -- the best method seems to be the orb farming if you're going for the platinum.

Watch the video under treasure hunter in the guide -- it's in the pause menu on one of the secondary tabs, I believe.

I forgot to add that to the video, but I re-uploaded it so it's not missing anymore.

The relic is just right at the beginning of "The Domain of Death." You can't miss it. If you reach the save point right in front of you, you've gone to far.
