kfree7
Just picked up a new game. Noticed the heart pounding a little from the excitement of something new. Do you still get that? How long does it seem to last?

chewbacon
For me it lasts until I realize how much work is involved in completing the game.... up til that point, I'm like a kid:D
Aeliana
Depends on the game. If it's something I've been hyped about for months, then yeah, I'll get excited and be itchin' to get home and play it. There's usually only one or two games a year though that I'll be *that* excited over.

Johnny Bananas
I get excited when I buy a brand new game since I rarely do nowadays (rent mostly). Just tearing the cellophane wrapping and opening the case and smelling the new game smell, totally excites me.
mjfan97
Whenever I get a new game I get excited. Once you start playing it, you're having fun but you can never feel that hyped-up sense of excitement anymore which is weird. I think that it is our human instinct to be greedy. Love it. Yeah, I get pretty excited when I buy a new game, doesn't matter if I was looking forward to it or not. At heart, still a little kid
technole
Oh yes indeed, there are several games a year that make my body tremble as I rip that cellophane off. My mind is focused getting the game in the PS3 ASAP. Forget the manual or playing sniff-the-case.

Mr. Marble
I don't get too overly excited, but I love sniffing that brand new smell.
InternationalGamer
If I get a game that I have been expecting for so long and is my favourites, like LittleBigPlanet 2... I get crazy excited, I do a dance here and there while I wait for the install and I don't even care if there's a big ass install... I'm still so excited. If I get a game I like, I still get excited, I don't purchase a lot of games, I never rent and if I buy a game, it's a game I usually want to keep. Not sell again. Old_Snoova
I used to be that way when I was younger. I remember seeing Metal Gear Solid (PSX) on the shelf of a Target and I had NO idea that was getting released; since I had recently gotten back into gaming at that time was the reason I was clueless. I was a huge, HUGE fan of the two NES Metal Gear games (yes, Snake's Revenge isn't as bad as you've read -- it's just an action-based game is all). So seeing a 3D rendered Metal Gear game about made my heart almost start ticking. Almost.
stgermain
While I don't super excited anymore, I still love the smell of brand new games.
joeyc138
It really depends on the game for me. I'm jonesing pretty bad for Mass Effect 3 and MLB 12 The Show.
Swordsman83
i rarely buy new games on 1st day release, cos most of the time tends to have goty version which includes all dlc. So not much of excitement, more excitement for me if i platinium a game.
SnowmanTheFrosty
only for certain games, i was like a little kid when i got Skyrim lol
NovaSD
Only if its a game I've hyped myself up over. Next month I'm going to be giddy like a school-girl with all the RPGs coming out.

This is definitely one of the best things about buying new games, especially if it's one you have pre-ordered or excited about playing. I remember when I got my Special Edition of Uncharted 3 back in November. Damn, Drake's journal really did smell authentic. Still smells great to this day. Xander45
Nothing beats New Game Smell, and yeah I do get excited about some games. For example I'm going to be as giddy as a school girl that's just found out One Direction are coming to their house when Mass Effect 3 arrives. jvaferreira
It happened to me with Uncharted 3 and ACR this year. I got it from the mailman and run all the the way to my room laughing a lot with joy and saying "it's finally here!!!"

There's usually only one or two games a year though that I'll be *that* excited over. I'm exactly the same. This year the only games that will probably have me extremely hyped will be Mass Effect 3, the next CoD and of course....GTA V. Any other games I get on release I look forward to playing but don't get really excited. For instance I bought FFXIII-2 on release but didn't play it about 3-4 days after I bought it.
DKsDragon
At this point it is more of disappointment in myself. I mean, I'm glad I have the game... except that I have a backlog of around 20-25 games right now. And I continue to buy them faster than I am completing them xP
Deftorn
Certain games will do that for me. Especially if i've been waiting for it to be released for awhile. I always buy my games, so it's fun to tear them open and pop 'em in the system.
