Introduction:

Free Realms is a free MMORPG from Sony Online Entertainment that is set in a fantasy-themed world containing ghosts, monsters, fictional beasts, and magical abilities and objects. This free version, however, limits your ability to perform some (or advance) some game functions without purchase of a subscription. The free version does allow all locations to be accessed and includes opportunities to try subscription based features. If you choose to later upgrade from the free account to a subscription, you will still have the opportunity to earn all trophies as normal.

The game currently has 15 ‘job’ classes representing such basic professions as cooking, postman, and soccer yet extends the fantasy broadly into areas such as racing kart driver, wizardry, and ninjas. Each player job class contains unique and customizable character items and tools/weapons that can be ranked up in skill through quest completions and by winning mini-game challenges. Items can be created and traded for goods or gold coins, and house ownership and customization is also possible. The open world environment contains many unique locations to visit, quests to fulfill, and monsters to combat. The system also includes the ability to meet and adventure with friends, ride mountable animals, purchase pets, and includes in-game voice and text chat abilities.

Roadmap Walkthrough:

Playthrough Information:

As this game has an open world format, there is no true order to which you must complete the trophies. The following roadmap directions will be a recommendation of an order for completion that also utilizes ways to do tasks in parallel to save time and resources.

Mini-game and Travel Related Trophies:

These are trophies that you can finish quickly. Start with Window Shopper by visiting the Marketplace. While you are visiting the store, purchase any type of food and a Style Card (with real life cash or by using gold coins). Upon exiting the store consume the food and use the style card to change something with appearance. This will unlock both the Consumer trophy and the Stylist trophy respectively.

Now click in the menu to locate mini-games such as Tower Defense, Pirate’s Plunder, and Artifact Hunt. Complete them with wins by playing the easy games or until you win. This unlocks Tower Defender, Captain, and Relic Hunter. If you didn’t lose 10 games then play Artifact Hunt and just let the time run out to earn Loser. These finish off the mini-game challenges you can do yourself.

Now you need to do some traveling, so click on your ‘Atlas’ and travel to Wildwood Speedway you see located on the bottom of the map. Once you are here, seek out the Kart Driver Trainer Johnny Thunder. Repeatedly accept and quit the quests by standing right beside him to earn Quitter. Travel over to the Karts to the side and locate Big Paulie (Mechanic). Interact with him to enter your Kart garage for Mechanic.

Next, travel again with your ‘Atlas’ by locating and clicking on Perry’s Pasture just south of Snowhill. Once here, push over some cows for Cow Tipper. Travel again to the warpstone for Stillwater Crossing near the middle of the ‘Atlas’. Once there, visit the pet adoption center (animals with green collars) at the next hill over to get a trial run of a pet and earn Pet Whisperer. While you are there you can test conversation emotes using :l1: to earn Mime. Finish this off by earning N00b by checking out how to ask for help (press the :start: button).

Boostable and Interaction Related Trophies:

For the next set of trophies you should use the boosting thread or find some other in-game partners. Voice chat will help you coordinate but, in order for you to use a mic, you must enable voice chat in the options (it is off by default).

Start this section of trophies by simply adding another player as a friend for Icebreaker. Trade with that person for some non-essential items 5 times to earn Barterer. Challenge them to some duels until you have 10 wins. Remember to use the same fighting class for all 10 and you will unlock Duelist. You can now visit a ‘friended’ player’s house to earn Housecaller.

From here you can group with the other person and then play Chess and Checkers against one another for both Strategist and Tactician trophies. Continue to add people you see to your friends list and your group until you have reached the requirements for the other two friend’s list trophies Socialite and Celebrity and group trophies Groupie and Team Player. Grouping trophies can still be earned by adding and subtracting the same person over and over but friend related trophies NO LONGER work in this way.

Skill Development and Cost Related Trophies:

The remaining trophies you will earn over a more considerable time by developing your resources and job skill levels. All job skill level 20 trophies can be worked on in any order but keep in mind that both Miner and Blacksmith work best in unison with mining ore and blacksmithing items. These should be raised together if you are doing quests and creating items to sell for gold. Alternatively, you can work skills by going to them through the menu and not bothering to travel to them directly. There are some differences in resources and item production but you can still rank up skill in this manner.

Combat ranking up is best accomplished by going to Cracked Claw Caverns repeatedly. A speed run (going right to and killing the boss without destroying miner's spirits or killing everything) is the best points-per-time usage. Taking a person with you of low rank will increase the number of stars (experience) you earn. The number in your party does NOT increase stars other than the increase you get for including a low rank person.

Once any one skill level has reached 15, you can create a guild to earn Guildmaster and likely easily win a tier 5 combat encounter (without a knockout) to earn Pwner. While adventuring or after ranking up, you will also need to complete some collections including your elite collections for Adventurer rank-up. The two coinciding collection trophies, Collector and Elite Collector, can also be earned during this. They are best obtained by checking YouTube videos for collectible locations.

Lastly, once you have earned enough gold (45,000), or find a friend to lend you 1,000 house items, you can earn Home Improver and Master Decorator. Spending this gold will also lead to Big Spender if you have not earned it already through purchasing equipment for combat. These are the last of the trophies for platinum, unless you have some job related trophies to cleanup. Just remember, nearly all jobs can be accessed through the “Activity Browser’ for faster results than wandering around and completing quests.

Additional Information:

Playstation store purchases can be made that give advantages to you while playing in Free Realms. For example, gold is for sale to buy better equipment, tools and weapons are available that help you rank-up job skills faster, and mounts (when ridden) provide you with much faster speed.

Trophies:

01.jpg  Free Realms Champion (P)

Earn all trophies

This and all the other trophies are now unobtainable due to server closure.

Earn all the other non-DLC trophies to get this one.

02.jpg  Tower Defender (B)

Win a Tower Defense game

Tower Defender games are located in multiple locations and major towns around the realm, and can sometimes have varied names such as Penguin Defense, etc. These games can also be found with :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and ‘Tower Defense”. Win at any Tower Defender game to earn this trophy.

The objective is to stop enemies from reaching the base by placing towers along the path for defense. When time runs out, a new stage begins. Move the cursor with the :ls: and press the :cross: button on the green start button to start a new stage. Survive all stages to win the game and earn the trophy.

Use the :ls: to select a tower type. Move the cursor and press the :cross: button to place the tower on the playfield. Towers have a price, power, and range. Range is displayed by a white circle around the tower. Some towers have special attributes and some towers can even be upgraded. Move the cursor on a tower in play, press the :cross: button to highlight, then move the cursor on the upgrade option and press the :cross: button once more. To sell a tower, highlight it and press the :triangle: button. :l1: and :r1: toggles between power ups, :l2: uses the one highlighted. :r2: toggles between 1X and 3X game speed. Thank you Dangles for this strategy and play information.

03.jpg  Tactician (B)

Win a Checkers game

Checkers and Chess games are located in all major towns. These can also be found with :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and ‘Miscellaneous”. Win a checkers game to earn this trophy. You play using the :ls: to move the cursor. Press and hold the :cross: button on a valid checker to select it, then move the cursor to the new location and release the :cross: button to place it. Jump over the opponent’s pieces at a diagonal to take them. Take all opponent pieces to win the game. You can jump over multiple pieces in a single move and are forced to jump over opponent pieces if you’re able to. If you manage to travel a piece to the completely opposite side of the board, the piece will be made a King. ‘Kinged’ pieces are able to move backwards as well as forwards.

Thank you Dangles for this strategy and play information.

04.jpg  Strategist (B)

Win a Chess game

Checkers and Chess games are located in all major towns. These can also be found with :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and ‘Miscellaneous”. Win a Chess match to earn this trophy. Chess strategy is vast and multiple resources exist across the Internet on how to play this game. Keep in mind that this can be easily boosted with a willing partner.

Strategically move your chess pieces across the board to capture the enemy’s pieces and put the king in to ‘checkmate’. Hover over each piece to display what movements are possible for that piece. Each chess piece has a unique style of movement. Moving a chess piece to a square occupied by the opponent will capture the piece.

The King can move one square in any direction. The goal of the game is to protect your King. If the king can be attacked, it is in ‘check’. The only valid move is to protect your king. If there are no moves that can protect the king, it is in ‘checkmate’ and the game is over. Once each game, the king can perform a move called ‘castling’ in which the king is moved two squares toward the rook. And the rook is moved on the far side of the king.

The Queen can move in any direction along a straight line. Bishops can only move on the diagonal color they rest upon. Knights can jump over other pieces. Their move pattern is forward-forward-sideways (either direction). Rooks can move only forward or sideways but never diagonally.

Pawns are unique in that they move one space forward but can only capture at a diagonal. Pawns can move two places forward for their first move. If a pawn moves to the opposite end of the board, it can be ‘promoted’. The pawn is replaced with queen. If you decide to move your pawn two spaces forward, your opponent has the option of acting as if you moved it only one space. This option only lasts one turn and allows them to capture your pawn with a properly placed pawn. Thank you Dangles for this strategy and play information.

05.jpg  Captain (B)

Win a Pirate’s Plunder match

Win at any Pirate’s Plunder mini-game for the trophy. Pirate’s Plunder is a 6 player ship vs. ship combat and treasure collection game. The object of the game is to sail to treasure locations (indicated by X’s) and then return safely to your base (home port) to offload any collected treasure. Opponents can be random, invited friends, or even AI players (when others are not available) and the captain with the most collected treasure at the end of the game is the winner.

The controls during the game include cannons that can be fired upon enemies. This is done by using :l1:, :r1:, or :triangle:. Speed is controlled using :r2: for forward and :l2: for reverse or slowing. Steering of the ship is done with the :ls: and there are a couple of power-ups that appear over the water as well (including boat repair and cannon power upgrades).

Treasure collected must be returned to your home base to count and anyone can steal the treasure of a sunken ship. Sinking a ship can be caused by either cannon fire or ramming by it until all of its health is gone. A tunnel at your base port allows you to change your flag style and ship class at any time. There are faster currents and whirlpools that help you get around faster and there are three different maps that can be played upon including Treasure Isle, Arctic Bay, and Shipwreck Cove.

06.jpg  Relic Hunter (B)

Win an Artifact Hunt game

For the trophy you must win at least one level of the timed Artifact Hunt game. The Artifact Hunt game is found the easiest by pressing :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and clicking ‘Matching’ to find ‘Artifact Hunt’ in the list of selections. When you click on the game you will be automatically taken to the mini-game screen.

The object of the game is to link sequences of at least 3 of the same kind of tiles to remove them from the board. There are four types of artifacts that must be sorted a minimum number of times before the timer bar on the left side runs out. To create a sequence chain, press and hold the :cross: button and use the :ls: to highlight connecting and matching tiles of 3 or more. Release the :cross: button and the highlighted chain will disappear and new tiles will fall down from above to take its place. Stars are wildcards that can be matched with any other similar tile types.

There are 4 power ups to this game which include special tiles that have affects such as randomly creating stars (Joker Hat), shuffling some board tiles (Tornado), destroying nearby tiles (Dynamite), and even destroying random tiles across the board (Explosion). Solid brown tiles block ALL actions except from this tile falling off the bottom of the board when unsupported underneath. Tiles with padlocks on them require being accessed twice before they will disappear. The best strategy is to work on desired tiles from the top of the board downward as you anticipate which tiles will fall into place by each move made.

08.jpg  Mechanic (B)

Visit the Kart & Demo Derby Garage

There is always a <Mechanic> near the kart racetracks (such as Wildwood Speedway) and they allow you to interact with the garage for racing or demo kart options. Approach the <Mechanic> and press :square: and then :cross: and you will be taken to your personal kart garage. Here you can interact to view and upgrade your kart and receive this trophy.

09.jpg  Housecaller (B)

Visit another player’s house

Go to any friend’s house to earn this trophy. At any time you can go to a friend’s house (if unlocked) without their invitation. Press :select:, go to ‘Friends’, select a friend from the list, and press :cross:. Go to the option ‘Go to House’ and you will be teleported to the person’s residence where the trophy will unlock. Alternatively, interact directly with any friend (using :square:) and select ‘Go to House’.

10.jpg  Barterer (B)

Complete 5 player to player trades

This trophy is earned by making 5 player trades (not store transactions) with acceptable items. Some items have a lock next to them and can’t be traded. To trade, interact with any player by approaching them and pressing :square:. Select ‘Trade’ on the option wheel and then select (from your inventory) item(s) you wish to offer. The other player will select his item(s) for trade and the transaction will occur once both parties agree to confirm the trade.

11.jpg  Icebreaker (B)

Add a player to your friends list

Simply add a person for this trophy. To add a friend by name, click on :select:, go to ‘Friends’, and hit :cross:. Then go to ‘Add to Friend’s List’ and hit :cross:. Enter the person’s FREE REALMS name directly. Alternatively, you can select :square: while standing near someone (to interact) and then select ‘Add Friend’ from the option wheel. Adding multiple people can be easily done by standing by the busier warpstone locations and adding random people. Most players will add you thus making your goal to 100 adds for the Celebrity trophy very easy.

12.jpg  Groupie (B)

Successfully invite 5 players to a group

This is a glitched trophy. While it is glitched, it is remains easily earnable. To get it you must invite 5 other players (or one player 5 times) to your group in a successful uninterrupted progression. It must be an uninterrupted sequence (with a successful join) as there can be a loss of progress (with the count) if interrupted by a failed invite or logout. You can interact with a player directly with :square: or you can click on :select:, then ‘Friends’, select a friend’s name, and then use the option ‘Invite to Group’.

13.jpg  Guildmaster (B)

Create a guild

A guild can be created by any player that has achieved a job level of at least 15. The guild is created by pressing :select:, going to ‘Friends’, selecting ‘Guild List’, and then selecting ‘Create a Guild’. Guild names will eventually be displayed under your name between two markers (<>). The guild name will not show correctly right away until the name has been approved but the trophy will be earned immediately. The option to create a guild will not show until you have reached the appropriate level in at least one job and the guild is not job specific but instead can be named as you choose.

14.jpg  Stylist (B)

Equip a style card

This trophy is earned by using a style card for appearance changes (such as hairstyle and beard changes). Style cards can be found by pressing :select:, choosing ‘Shopping’, ‘Coin Shop’, and selecting ‘Style Cards’ from the menu. They can also be purchased from the Playstation Store access from anywhere in the game. After purchase you must also activate the style card for the trophy. Press :select:, go to ‘About Me’, ‘Style Cards’, and then place a purchased style card into one of the slot choices. Now press :circle: (to exit) and then :cross: to confirm the cards use. You appearance will change and the trophy will unlock.

15.jpg  Consumer (B)

Use a consumable item

This occurs whenever an item is consumed through normal usage (such as potions or food items). As you adventure you will regularly pick up consumable items. These will appear on the lower left of the screen in 4 round slots and are activated by way of the D-pad. Alternatively, you can purchase food from a store and place those food items in these consumable slots as potions are not usable unless you are in a fighting session. Press the D-pad in the direction of the item you wish to use and the trophy will unlock.

16.jpg  Pet Whisperer (B)

Perform a pet trick

This trophy is earned by making any pet perform a single pet trick. Pets can be purchased (for real currency) from the Playstation Store but purchase is NOT required to earn this trophy. The trophy can be earned easily by using the free limited time trial run available for some pets. These temporary pets are located in various pet adoption centers around the realm. Each of these locations will have gated pet areas and green collars around the pet’s necks. Approach a pet you wish to try and press :select:. Once you’re in this limited time trial, press :select: , go to ‘Pets’, then to ‘Trick/About Pet’, and finally choose a trick for your pet (i.e. ‘Play Dead’).

17.jpg  Mime (B)

Perform 10 emotes

There are preset selections of emotion actions and conversations your character can make that are found by pressing :l1:. Select the conversations and linked emote actions ten times to unlock this trophy.

18.jpg  Collector (B)

Complete a collection

Various items are located around the realm that are collectibles. These ‘sparkling’ collectibles are recorded when obtained and unlock a collectible category (with description and picture). These collections show what has been collected and the various missing items still needed for that collection. These typically total 6 to 7 items and the basic collectibles are items such as fish, gems, etc. These basics will be obtained while performing a job but others (such as those in ‘sparkling’ piles) can be well hidden around the realm. These sparkling collectibles are picked up by approaching and pressing the :square: button. The collection can be accessed by pressing :select:, going to ‘About Me’, and ‘Collections’. Complete any single category collection (6-7 item totals) for the trophy. Unlocking the trophy Elite Collector will also get you this trophy. Thank you CorpusDelecti for pointing this out.

19.jpg  Home Improver (B)

Place 100 items in a house

This is a glitched trophy and is similar to the Master Decorator trophy requiring 1,000 items placed inside your house.

26.jpg  Socialite (S)

Add 50 players to your friends list

This is earned similarly to the ‘Icebreaker’ trophy except that you must have 50 people added to acquire this trophy. Removing friends and adding them back no longer works for this trophy and 50 friends at once is now required.

27.jpg  Team Player (S)

Successfully invite 25 players to a group

This glitched trophy is similar to the ‘Groupie’ trophy except that you must successfully invite 25 players for the trophy (or with another player repeatedly joining and leaving) until 25 successful joins are received. The invites must be accepted by the player they are sent to but you cannot have all 25 players (5 is the limit) in a group at one time.

28.jpg  Elite Collector (S)

Complete an elite collection

Various ‘elite’ coins are located around the realm and these are considered the elite collectibles. These collectible coins are recorded when obtained and unlock a relevant collectible category description under ‘Collections: Exploration’. These collections show what has been collected and the various missing items for that elite collection. These ‘Elite’ collections consist of either a 5 or an 8 coin set. The collections (once showing after finding one) can always be accessed by pressing :select: and then going to ‘About Me’, ‘Collections’, and then ‘Collections: Exploration’. Earning this trophy will also get you the trophy Collector.

Complete any one of these individual 'Elite' categories for the trophy: Snowhill Elite Exploration, Wugachug Elite Exploration, Shrouded Glade Elite Exploration, Briarwood Elite Exploration, Blackspore Elite Exploration, Seaside Elite Exploration, Merry Vale Elite Exploration, or Sanctuary Elite Exploration.

The easiest seems to be the 5 coins at Shrouded Glade and here is a walkthrough:

Spoiler

Elite Exploration Coin Walkthrough for Shrouded Glade:

  • Start by teleporting into Shrouded Glade by clicking on the warpstone showing on the ‘Atlas’ (map). Head south to cross a stone bridge (it has two glowing red spheres on bridge columns) as you head toward some rocky hills. Stop on this bridge and look up to the top of the rocky hills ahead and slightly left. There are two trees located atop there and the left tree has the first Elite Exploration Coin (Titled: A Shady Area) located behind it. Work your way around the path to the right until you can find a place to climb the rocks to reach it. The coin will be beside the tree and have a sparkling effect on it.
  • Now return to the Shrouded Glade Warpstone and travel north across the stone bridge. Turn left at the NPC named Justin Roderic to now head west across another stone bridge (with red spheres on columns). You’ll pass Amaryllia Rosewing (she’ll be to your right) as you continue west along the marked path. The path winds left and then back right, as it slopes uphill, and you should see a tunnel entrance ahead of you. Climb the rocks to the right side of the tunnel entrance until you manage to reach the top arc of the tunnel entrance. Here is your next Elite Exploration Coin (Titled: Towering The Opening).
  • Next, return down the hill from the tunnel toward Justin Roderic. When you reach him, turn north to cross yet another stone bridge. Continue along the path as you pass a wishing well to your right. You’ll come to an intersection where you’ll now see NPC Puck Petalplucker. Head towards him and stop. Turn left where you will see a green house. Check behind this green building to find the next Elite Exploration Coin (Titled: Back Against The Wall).
  • Next, go toward the purple triangle indicator for the closest Checkers and Chess location. This game area has a glowing red sphere, two pixies playing, and a fence surrounding it. Turn toward the other indicator for Checkers and Chess and follow the mountain around to the right a short distance. You should immediately see the next Elite Exploration Coin (Titled: Milla’s Place) near an NPC pixie named Milla.
  • Now, head back toward the Checkers and Chess area (fenced section). Turn toward the mountain area near you and you will see that it looks similar to a castle. This is the Druid Academy. Walk the uphill path toward the base of the academy’s stairs. When the path changes to stairs, turn left where you should shortly see 3 clear buildings (greenhouses) and an NPC named Suni Sorrowsmile. Go behind the greenhouse closest to Suni and dive off the cliff into the water. The last Elite Exploration Coin (Titled: A Cool Spot) will be hovering over the water.

29.jpg  Master Decorator (S)

Place 1000 items in a house

This is a glitched trophy. This is similar to the ‘Home Improver’ trophy except that this trophy is earned by decorating your house with 1,000 house related items (purchased with in-game currency). The glitch can be avoided by placing all 1,000 items down in an uninterrupted sequence to prevent the count toward the trophy from resetting. Decorating by repeatedly picking up and placing the same items has NOT been reported to work for obtaining the trophy but you can use your yard for the placement of the 1,000 items.

Press :select: and select the option ‘Houses’ to travel to one of your house locations. Once inside your home, you can decorate the house with ‘Go To Decorate Mode’ by pressing :r2: and then :select: for the ‘Decorate Bar’. Select the items by category and note there is an item limit meter that tells how many items you have currently placed. The cheapest in-game cost of house items appears to be 45 each for things like barrels, chests, and crates (easiest to work with) and this, therefore, requires 45,000 gold coins minimum to be spent making the item purchases (this does count towards Big Spender).

30.jpg  Big Spender (S)

Spend 50,000 coins

This is a cumulative spending total of 50,000 coins in the ‘Coin Shop’ accessed through <Merchants> or by pressing :select: , ‘Shopping’, and then ‘Coin Shop’. Coins are earned by completing various level challenges and quests or can also be purchased directly (with real currency) from the Playstation Store access under ‘Marketplace’. This trophy's coin requirements will easily be met as you progress in job skill levels and sell earned items.

31.jpg  Grand Explorer (S)

Reach Level 20 as an Adventurer

This trophy is earned by ranking up your Adventurer to level 20 by finding complete collection types such as locations, warpstones, coins, and artifacts. Collecting rare or elite items will rank you up very quickly. There are no quests for this job available, through the questing menus, but grabbing all collectibles you see will help toward rank-up. It is important to note that you do not always gain experience when picking up every item unless an entire collection is completed. You also do not need to have the Adventurer class selected when picking up such items. The Adventurer rank will always increase (by getting collectibles) even if it is not the current job selected. Finding the Elite Exploration Collection Coins will be the fastest way to rank to level 20 and you will simultaneously earn the Elite Collector trophy. I suggest using YouTube videos to find all elite coin locations for the quickest rank-up. These videos were mostly created on the PC version but I have confirmed that all elite and rare collection locations are exactly the same.

32.jpg  Marksman (S)

Reach Level 20 as an Archer

This trophy is earned by ranking up your job skill to level 20 (through combat). The information listed is relevant for ALL combat trophies:

  • Marksman (Archer)
  • Street Fighter (Brawler)
  • Doctor (Medic)
  • Flying Dragon (Ninja)
  • Warlord (Warrior)
  • Arcane Master (Wizard)

All 6 combat related trophies are earned by engaging in combat by going directly to the location or by selecting combat by pressing :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, and ‘Game Guide’.

All combat related tasks can be quickly and easily raised by going to Cracked Claw Caverns and continually repeating this very short dungeon fight. For fastest results you should go directly to the final boss for a quick kill and quick points (without worrying about killing everything or raising the miner's ghosts). When skill level is raised you will be ready to purchase better weapons and supplies which can increase your combat tier level for greater challenge or reduce your time to complete Cracked Claw Caverns.

Grouped members can also go with you in these challenges as they will receive an offer to join you whenever players are ‘grouped’. All party members will receive experience and multiple members can make completing the area quicker. Taking at least one low level player with you increases the amount of experience you will earn. The number in your party, however, does not increase the experience but may help reduce the time to complete the location.

33.jpg  Master Blacksmith (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Blacksmith

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Blacksmith to level 20 by crafting items and weapons during timed mini-game sequences. The rank-up to level 20 can be done the easiest and fastest by directly selecting the quest challenges by pressing :select:, choosing ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and then ‘Forging’. The Anguish Aid Bonesaw is the best selection to repeat to maximize points for ranking up. While accessing the challenges from this location (instead of an anvil) you will not be required to have the resources and recipe for the items made but will also not receive the item you make. You do, however, still receive the rank increase and bonus items/gold. You should consider ranking up a Miner in unison with this job skill (if you desire to actually create items) as many types of ore will be necessary through this job’s quest challenges. If you are having difficulty with the Mining mini-game, and need further instruction, you will find the game is similar to the mini-game listed under the trophy Relic Hunter.

34.jpg  Street Fighter (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Brawler

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Brawler to level 20 through combat. All combat related trophies are earned in a similar fashion as described under the Marksman trophy.

35.jpg  Iron Chef (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Chef

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Chef to level 20 by crafting food items and cooking during timed mini-game sequences. The rank-up to level 20 can be done the easiest and fastest by directly selecting the challenges by pressing :select:, choosing ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and then ‘Cooking’. ‘Glerga’s Gourmet Goulash’, made repeatedly, is an easy and quick way to rank to level 20. The using of ‘Activity Browser’ for cooking does not provide you with the food (as when you cook directly at a cooking table) but you do, however, still receive the rank increase and bonus items/gold.

The main cooking mini-game is very self explanatory and progresses through various stages that can include chopping, smashing, tenderizing, carving, grating, adding, stirring, cooking, etc. All motions for cooking actions involve the :ls: and :cross: presses. The other harvesting mini-game is like other job mini-games in that you must string together matches of 3 or more before time runs out. If you are having difficulty with this mini-game, and need further instruction, you will find the game is similar to the mini-game listed under the trophy Relic Hunter.

36.jpg  Demolisher (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Demo Derby Driver

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Demolition Derby Driver to level 20 through competition in Kart demolition events. A checkered flag on the ‘Atlas’ indicates a location where Demolition Derby is held. The basic Demo Derby at Wildwood Speedway called ‘Wildwood Demo Derby’ can be repeated again and again for the fastest rank-up. Alternatively, you can locate a Demo Derby by pressing :select:, going to ‘Activity Browser’ , ‘Game Guide’, and then ‘Demolition Derby’. AI opponents are easy to beat after upgrading your Kart with advanced parts (purchased in the ‘Coin Shop’ and installed with a <Mechanic>). Competition ranking is based on how many cars you destroy/disable during the competition with destruction of your Kart causing a loss of points. The objective is to ram other vehicles with your own vehicle while avoiding damage yourself. You do not need to win the Demo Derby to acquire rank-up points but higher placement results in more experience upgrade stars. The best strategy is to grab all power-ups you see and continually ram and push cars that are closest to being destroyed. Jumping so that you land on top of opponent Karts (where the driver is located) is the easiest way to damage their cars.

During every Demo Derby you can steer your Kart by using the :ls: or the D-pad. Holding the :cross or :r2: during the race is required for forward movement. Reverse or braking is achieved by pressing :square: or :l2: and boost may be used with either a press of :circle: or a press of :r1:. Jumping is also helpful, if timed correctly, using the :triangle: or :l1: Power-up icons will occasionally appear on the track and can be activated by being the first to drive over them. The icons are Attack Upgrade (extra attack ability), Shield (temporary protection), Repair (partial repair of Kart), Boost (temporary unlimited boost), and Ultimate (gives all other power-ups). Friends that are ‘grouped’ will be invited to compete against you whether the Derby is started by visiting the track directly or through the ‘Game Guide’ option.

37.jpg  Angler (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Fisherman

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Fisherman to level 20 by fishing at the various pond locations. The type of the fish caught is affected by your rank and lure choice. You can rank a fisherman by pressing :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and ‘Fishing’ to then go to the pond of your choosing. You cannot fish at any other locations except these listed in the ‘Activity Browser’.

Fishing is activated by pressing :square: while the outline of the casting pattern is over water. Once a fish bites it can be reeled in by again pressing :square:. Repeat any of the 6 locations as needed to rank-up as quest mission rank-up consumes much more time.

38.jpg  Speed Demon (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Kart Driver

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Kart Driver to level 20 by winning Kart races. A checkered flag on the ‘Atlas’ indicates a location where racing is held. The basic race at Wildwood Speedway called ‘Wildwood Kart Racing’ can be repeated again and again for the fastest rank-up. AI opponents are easy to beat after upgrading your Kart with a faster engine. Alternatively, you can locate racing by pressing :select:, going to ‘Activity Browser’ , ‘Game Guide’, and then ‘Racing’.

During each Kart race, steering is controlled using the :ls:, and you must hold :cross: the entire race to move forward. Four boost icons are available on the track and include speed boost, shield, rockets, and mines. Striking a mine with your Kart, or being shot from behind with a rocket, causes you to flip and lose valuable race time. Shields protect racers briefly from rockets and mines. Speed boosts give a short burst of increased speed and should be used in straight portions of the track. Friends that are ‘grouped’ will be invited to race against you whether the race is started by visiting the track directly or through the ‘Game Guide’ option.

40.jpg  Ore Master (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Miner

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Miner to level 20 through various timed gemstone mining, ore mining, and smelting challenges. The rank-up to level 20 can be done the easiest and fastest by directly selecting the challenges by pressing :select:, choosing ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and then ‘Mining’. Copper should be used at the start of ranking up but later you should improve your stats with better gear and switch to Gold Mining when it becomes available. Gold Mining is easiest of the mini-games and the quickest to repeat to maximize points and profit. The using of ‘Activity Browser’ for mining does not provide you with the ore (like when you access mining directly at an ore pile) but you do, however, still receive the rank increase and bonus items/gold. You should consider ranking up a Blacksmith in unison with this job skill (if you desire to actually create items) as many types of ore will be necessary for the Blacksmith quest challenges. If you are having difficulty with the mini-game, and need further instruction, you will find the game is similar to the mini-game listed under the trophy Relic Hunter.

Smelting can be done near any blacksmith anvil in a smelting furnace. The smelting challenge is very straightforward in how it is perform, however the final pour step can be tricky. The 5 pour slots represent how many bars of metal you will receive upon completion and so getting all 5 filled is important here. The best strategy is to slowly raise the :ls: and watch that you create just a few bubbles in the molten liquid. Too many splashes and you will soon begin to ‘spill’ and lose material. Slowly increase the pour angle as you see the bubbles start to disappear so that you don’t spill down the back of the container either. My preferred method is to place the controller on the ground and use both thumbs to just push the :ls: up slowly. The better you perform at these challenges the faster you will rank toward the trophy and the more gold you will earn.

39.jpg  Doctor (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Ninja

42.jpg  Postmaster (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Postman

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Postman to level 20 by delivering mail, completing sorting mini-games, and various retrieval quests. When performing timed deliver quests, such as found when starting the job, you must run the indicated route directed by yellow arrows. When you are close to a deliver point indicated by a glowing mailbox you can press the :square: button. Dogs may chase you (in some mini-games) and will knock you down if they reach you, thereby eating up valuable delivery time. Avoid them by pressing the :triangle : button to throw a dog treat as a distraction. When dropped mail requires pickup, get near the pile and press :square:. Postman delivery challenges cannot be accessed directly from the ‘Game Guide’.

Once you have followed the quest path to level 5, you will be directed to help Honey by picking flowers out of the nearby garden while avoiding the dog there. This is a fast quest (15 seconds) and the fastest known way to earn Postman experience. Simply repeat the quest until you hit level 20. Thanks to Lil_Mermaid_Girl for this fast rank-up tip.

43.jpg  Striker (S)

Reach Level 20 as a Soccer Star

The trophy is earned by ranking up your Soccer Star to level 20 by winning soccer games against AI opponents. The objective is to score more goals, as in regular soccer, by kicking the ball into the opposing team’s net. Games are found by visiting the three soccer fields located around the realm or using :select: , ‘Activity Browser’, and then ‘Game Guide’. You get more experience by winning but you can also sit stationary and lose a soccer match and still earn some experience.

The controls for soccer are: :ls: to move, :circle: to pass, and :cross: to kick. The button should be held to charge up a kick and then released to make the kick. The closer to the goal, and the more charged the kick, the greater the likelihood of scoring a goal. You can also slide tackle with :cross: while near an opponent or even dodge opponents with :square:. Three power ups appear on the field and once activated (by touching) will increase power, speed, or toughness. You can only have one power up at a time until it has expired and disappears.

46.jpg  Celebrity (G)

Add 100 players to your friends list

This is similar to the ‘Icebreaker’ and ‘Socialite’ trophy except that you must have 100 people added under ‘Friends’ to acquire this trophy.

Secret Trophies:

20.jpg  Loser (B)

Lose 10 mini-games

This trophy is earned by failing any mini-game a total of 10 times. These are the mini-games associated with jobs and include such things as Blacksmith, Chef, Postman, etc. The timed quest challenges with short durations are the easiest to lose by just waiting for the clock to expire or even exiting out of some of them. The first Postman quest mini-game is a great place to earn this but you’re very likely to get this trophy just from playing through the game.

21.jpg  Cow Tipper (S)

Tip 10 cows

Tip cows over by pressing :square: multiple times while near them. Repeat these assaults 10 times to earn this trophy. The cows will visually fall sideways and ‘Moo’ when done correctly. Cows can be found in many of the farm locations around the realm (for example, Perry’s Pastures Harvesting south of Snowhill).

22.jpg  Pwner (B)

Win a tier 5 combat encounter without getting knocked out

Before combat missions start, you receive a difficulty tier rating (red circles) for the mission. To receive the trophy, complete any tier 5 combat task (using any combat job) without being knocked out. Knockouts occur when your health goes to zero and you receive a knockout timer. Health potions, top notch supplies, and group fighting can help in completing this, just realize that knockouts are allocated to the entire group. Basically, if you are fighting in a group, nobody must get knocked out or the trophy will not be earned.

Tier 5 combat encounters require at least a minimum combat job level of 13 and will not allow you to attempt them without first reaching this skill level. There are multiple tier 5 combat encounters scattered around (for example, Haunted Mines near Blackspore Swamp) and these will eventually show up during quest work toward level 20 in every combat related job (and even many other jobs). These combat areas can be visited directly or accessed through :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, ‘Game Guide’, and ‘Combat’. The higher tier levels will not show on this list though until you have reached a high enough level to play them.

23.jpg  Quitter (B)

Abandon 10 quests

Quest tasks are assigned by most NPCs and you have the option to quit a task as well as select which task line you are currently following (as ‘active’). For the trophy you must drop quests a total of 10 times. This can be done with the same quest being dropped repeatedly.

Approach a quest giving NPC and listen to their dialog and select ‘Yes’ to accept the quest. Once the quest is active, choose :select:, ‘Activity Browser’, and ‘Quests’ to view and select which quest is currently active (one at a time allowed). Find the quest just accepted and press :triangle: twice. You must press until it indicates the quest has been dropped and you receive ‘1 Quitter’ in text across your screen. Talk to the NPC to get the quest once more before quitting again. Repeat until after the tenth quit when the trophy unlocks.

24.jpg  Duelist (B)

Win 10 duels

This is a glitched trophy. During the interaction with other players in the realm (by pressing :square:) you have a selection wheel of actions that includes challenging any (real human) player to a duel. Win 10 duels by challenging others until you rack up 10 wins. To avoid the glitch, do not switch combat classes or logout during your count toward 10 duel wins.

25.jpg  N00b (B)

Ask for help from Free Realms Support

You do not actually have to actually ask for help to earn this. Press the :start: button and this will be achieved by simply looking up the option ‘Ask for Help’.

Thank you all very much for enjoying my guide and please let me know if you have any recommended improvements or questions.

are trophies retroactive?

Can I play the game without membership, do everything I can, then get a membership and have the trophies pop?

As mentioned many times, no. Not to worry though, no trophy is missable if you play for free and then buy a membership. It just may require doing those things again after you buy the membership.

well that's lame, I wanna play the free version to see if it's even worth buying membership, don't wanna have to start over after getting a membership if I DO wanna play it

You don't start over. You're just limited in what you can do, to the point where you won't have to worry about any really long trophies with a free membership.

Some of the trophies are progress-based tho right? I mean can I max out progress on whatever I can in the free version, and all of that counts towards it.

I'm not expecting to be able to get EVERYTHING and then buy the cheapest subscription for instant trophies, just wanting to know if I can save some time doing it that way

Yes it counts towards it. The progress you will make in job skills will be very limited though and you will want to get the subscription to take advantage of the ranking up you will be missing out on quickly.

What if you reach level 20 for any class with the free version? Or can you just not reach 20 with the free version?

Stops at level 4 but you can get there very quickly. You don't get a lot of the bonuses for gold and such so you would be losing out more than you would be getting because of reaching the cap in a skill so quickly.

Are these trophies soloable or is the game designed around co-oping? I ask because I'm familiar with MMO's and how they work, but Free Realms seems to be catered to a younger demographic, so I wasn't sure if Sony is making everyone find groups to party with or if people can casually solo their way to the platinum.

Thanks.

As far as I can tell yes. The Fishermen & the Chef jobs are good examples. Although most job trophies (there are 15 of them) are a grind- I think you can join w/ others & complete quests to level a particular job quicker. Those that require "100 friends" or "Win 10 Duels" are easier than it looks where you could just ask the community & 4/5 FR players would comply. Less desirable trophies like Master Decorator & Big Spender are a pain- however, idk if you could simply trade w/ a friend & obtain these trophies...

There could be some shortcuts, but Dragon's approx. somewhat under 100 hour completion may not be too far off.

I think it's pretty enjoyable; go & give the free trail a whirl!:)

You'll need to coordinate with some others to get a few of the social related trophies from adding friends and groups. There is also a few games, like chess, that can be difficult to find a partner for but the entire rest of the game can be done by yourself. There really is no dependancy on the skills or input of others to finish any combat or other mini-games. You should try it for free to get an idea of what it is all about.

EDIT: A 5 minute Ninja :ninja: ? Damn I'm slow!

Brand new to the forums and was just scanning your guide when i saw time to completeion i have to say it is more than 100 hours i have used the star booster from PS store and have spent around $35 just on those, and i have only maxed out 3 combat characters, and this is without any time being wasted, all i have done is grind... and grind some more. I have already 76hours and combat takes alot longer than the miner, blacksmith, etc. But basically by going through most posts i havent really seen anyone talk about how long it takes to do a combat job. Either im a complete failure at grinding or this guide is off. Dont know if ill check this again since im not really a big forums user, but just wanted to inform you.

Hi & welcome, every bit of info helps, & as no one as of yet have plat'ed Free Realms, the approx. completion time is squarely suggested. Okay, if you're still around, there are 6x combat professions- on leveling, did you team up w/ other players for more EXP? Also, I suppose you did purchase better gear suited for your level, correct?
