emme
-Which one will give me better "rare drops"? connoisseur catalog. -Do catalogs work if you have them equipped on someone not in your party? ofc not. -Is 3 Connoisseur Catalogs equipped better than 1, or is it the same? they do not stack. -Does Connoisseur Catalog and Collectors cancel each other out? nope. -What is the best one do equip (and how many) for farming gil. Well, depends on the enemy you want to kill and what drop (rare or normal) you want more. I'd say just use both lol.
Lost2Apathy
Thanks. But what do you equip for farming trapz and ingots, one of each? I just want to be optimum for this long ass grind I've been fearing. Edited March 27, 2010 by Lost2Apathy
SgtBitchslap
Yes, one of each.

Akihiko
I'm also confused because I've read someone posting that equpping the collector's catalog and connisseur's catalog together cancels the effect. Is this true or fake?
SgtBitchslap
They don't cancel each other out, you gain the benefit of each.
spham23
They don't cancel each other out, you gain the benefit of each. The guide says that putting additional catalogs won't do anything so maybe they do cancel each other out.
SgtBitchslap
That's of the same type. Catalogs of the same type don't stack.
sulhaq
With both Collector's and Connoisseur's equipped I got 2 Traps and 15 Plat Ingots while farming in Eden. Then, when I went back to farm gil and equipped only the Collector's, I got 4 Traps and 18 Plat Ingots in less time than before. So yeah...in my personal experience too, equipping just the Collector's was better. This is just how roll chances work though. They average out. It is general consensus that the game rolls for Rare drops, then Common drops, then Shrouds. So, if you equip the Connoisseur, you are decreasing your chances of getting a common drop by 4% No matter what else you equip. That is (ignoring shroud drop for simplicity's sake): Nothing Equipped: 24% common, 1% rare, 75% nothing. Collector's Equipped: 37% common, 1% rare, 62% nothing. Connoisseur Equipped: 20% common, 5% rare, 75% nothing. Both Equipped: 33% common, 5% rare, 62% nothing. Edited March 28, 2010 by sulhaq
Haruhi
-Do catalogs work if you have them equipped on someone not in your party? No Accessory will work when not equipped on somebody in your battle party. -What is the best one do equip (and how many) for farming gil. Monsters don't drop gil, you'd get gil for selling what you get given. If you are farming Toises, the 33% chance for getting an Ingot and selling the 1 you get once every 3 battles will probably be better than selling the 1 trapezehedron you get every 20 battles. Basically if 6.67 x the price of a Platinum Ingot > the price of a trapezohedron, your set, use Collectors catalog. If not, use Connoisseur catalog. Although i daresay you'll be wanting gil to buy Trapezohedrons at 2 Million gil each. I'd say use Conoisseurs catalog.
