- - - - - Information - - - - -

- Estimated Difficulty: 5 out of 10.

- Approximate Time: 80-120 Hours.

- Offline: 36 Trophies.

- Online: 0 Trophies.

- Glitched Trophies: *None.

- Missable Trophies: Treasure Hunter

*Important Note #1: Final Fantasy XIII comes with Custom Themes for the XMB. They are unlocked as you earn Trophies. They're accessible from the main menu, under "Special". Installing these themes and continuing forward in the game - without quitting first - can cause certain trophies to not unlock, even if the requirements are met. Just to be safe, quit the game after installing these themes, or don't bother with them at all until you've obtained the Platinum. Thanks to ycl71 for this information.

Important Note #2: This Road Map & Trophy Guide is originally based on the Japanese Version of Final Fantasy XIII. As such, when the English Version is released, there will be inevitable differences in some of the enemy names, item names, and so forth. When the time comes, I will try to make modifications as necessary.

- - - - - Road Map - - - - -

Step #1: Complete the Game.

This is important to do first because it will unlock Crystallium Lv. 10, which will allow characters to become Role Lv. 5 in each of their six roles. This will make all of the Cie'th Stone Missions etc. much easier. 13 of the 36 Trophies are story related. Limit Breaker, Loremaster, Pulsian Pioneer, and Superstar can also be easily earned along the way, if you so desire. After the final battle, you will be able to return to almost all of the previous areas (and you can do the final boss battle multiple times). In other words, it's "free roam" and all Trophies can be obtained on a single playthrough.

Step #2: Cie'th Stone Missions.

There are 64 Cie'th Stone Missions in the game. They are available starting in Chapter 11. Missions #21-26 will be completed during the course of the storyline, and although the others are also accessible, it is best to wait until Crystallium Lv. 10 has been unlocked. Missions are ranked in their difficulty; Rank D is the easiest, Rank A is the hardest. 8 of the 36 Trophies are from these missions, and ultimately, you will need to complete each of them with a 5-Star Ranking for L'Cie Paragon. This will seem difficult at first, but beating Mission #64 will reward you w/ an accessory called "Gold Watch." This accessory makes it much easier to 5-Star missions, so if you don't 5-Star them on your first attempt, don't sweat it - they're repeatable.

Step #3: Treasure Hunter.

The most time-consuming task in the game and it deserves its own section. You will need to create *every weapon and accessory in the game* for this one, and it will require *a lot* of farming turtles, Adamantaimais and Xiao Long Guis in particular. Refer to the Trophy Guide for more details.

Step #4: Clean Up.

If you missed anything, such as Gysahl Wreath, Superstar etc. now is the time to complete them.

Took over 10,000 steps on the lowerworld surface.

You must complete a side quest in the Oerba Village; it can be accessed starting in Chapter 11. One of the houses contains a broken robot, Bhakti, who needs to be repaired. The items needed to repair him (Power Cable, Battery Pack, Trochoid Gear, Aspherical Lens, and Metal Plate) are scattered around the village and will appear as a "?" when approached. One of them must be obtained from an enemy in the area; be sure to defeat all the enemies as you look around for these items. Locate the five items (they are all in obvious locations and are hard to miss), then return to Bhakti.

If the trophy does not immediately unlock, you'll need to walk around some more on Gran Pulse to meet the required 10,000 Steps. Grind more, do a few Cie'th Stone Missions, etc. and return to Oerba Village later on to see if the requirement has been fulfilled.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/16.jpgGysahl Wreath (Bronze)

Discovered buried treasure with a little help from a chocobo.

Chocobos will become available after completing Mission #14. While riding on a chocobo, if he detects a buried treasure, a "!" will appear above his head. If the "!" is bouncing slowly, you are far from the treasure; if it is bouncing quickly, you are getting closer to the treasure. Also, the direction a chocobo's head is facing is another indication of the treasure's direction. You need to find the item "Ribbon" for this trophy to unlock; Japanese websites suggest that this is a fairly rare (and random) drop, but many members here have found it on their 20th Dig.

Complete all 64 Missions with a 5-Star Ranking. Stars are awarded based on the overall time of the battle and the speed at which commands are entered. Your equipped weapons also affect the time limit; stronger weapons will reduce it, while weaker weapons will increase it. Note that this becomes *significantly* easier after completing Mission 64 - This mission rewards you w/ the "Gold Watch" accessory which increases the amount of time to earn 5-Star Rankings. Refer to the "Detailed Strategies for Mission Bosses" section (here) for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/31.jpgLimit Breaker (Silver)

Dealt 100,000+ damage with a single attack.

The easiest method to unlock this trophy is with Bahamut's "Mega Flare" in Gestalt Mode. It can also be done via the "Genji Gauntlet" accessory which allows a character to break the 99,999 Damage Limit.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/32.jpgAdamant Will (Silver)

Felled a heavyweight of the lowerworld wilds.

After completing Missions #35-51, Adaman Tortoise enemies will be replaced with a new enemy, Long Gui. Long Gui is one of the most formidable foes in the game and have 16,200,000 HP and a number of devastating attacks. Unlike the Adaman Tortoise, Long Gui is also immune to the insta-kill effect of Vanille's "Death" spell. Although there are a multitude of successful strategies which can be used to defeat Long Gui, here's one of mine:

Leader: Fang (Kain's Lance, Sprint Shoes)

Member #1: Lightning (Omega Weapon, Sprint Shoes)

Member #2: Vanille (Nirvana or Malboro Wand, Sprint Shoes)

Paradigm #1: Sentinel/Sentinel/Sentinel (Default Paradigm)

Paradigm #2: Saboteur/Saboteur/Saboteur

Paradigm #3: Synergist/Synergist/Synergist

Paradigm #4: Ravager/Ravager/Ravager

Paradigm #5: Commando/Commando/Commando

Paradigm #6: Medic/Medic/Medic

First and foremost, use shrouds before the battle begins.

Start off in Paradigm #1 to survive Long Gui's Quake/Stomp/Ultima. His attacks come slowly, but they hit hard; as a general rule, whenever he is about to unleash attacks, switch to this Paradigm. If your characters are Rank 5 in all roles, you should survive his initial assault.

Switch to Paradigm #2 and make sure to stick Slow on him, as this will drastically reduce the frequency of his attacks. Then stick Bio, De-Protect, De-Shell, and Weak on one of his feet. Switch to Paradigm #3 and buff yourself. Long Gui is weak to Fire, so the En-Fire spell should increase your damage considerably. Now, the fun begins...

Switch to Paradigm #4 and let loose on one of his feet, the one you debuffed earlier. Attack it 'til it breaks and finish it off w/ Fang's "Highwind" which, at 999.99% Stagger, should do over 1.5 Mil. Damage. Rinse and repeat for the other foot, and remember to switch into Paradigm #1 when the enemy attacks, then Paradigm #6 to recover from it. Once both feet have been broken, Long Gui will fall to the ground - This is your opportunity to do *a lot* of damage. Buff yourself, debuff him, then let loose with Paradigm #4 until he is at 999.99% Stagger, then switch to Paradigm #5 to bring on the pain. Although Long Gui will eventually recover and stand again, repeat the aforementioned process until he's down for the count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/33.jpgMaster's Seal (Silver)

Fully developed all characters.

Attain Role Lv. 5 in all six roles for each character, as well as learn all abilities/stats on the "branching paths" of the Crystallium.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/34.jpgTreasure Hunter (Gold)

Held every weapon and accessory.

The most difficult (read: time consuming) trophy in the game, as it requires a *lot* of farming Adamantaimais for their Platinum Ingots and Trapezohedrons, and Xiao Long Guis for their Dark Matters. Equip the accessories "Collector Catalog" (to increase the Drop Rate of Platinum Ingots) and "Connoisseur Catalog" (to increase the Drop Rate of Trapezohedrons and Dark Matters) to make this process easier. For the trophy, you must possess (not necessarily all at the same time) every weapon and accessory in the game, which boils down to a lot of cash-intensive synthesis.

Each character has 8 "base weapons" which I will refer to as "Tier 1." All Tier 1s are available to purchase in the shop and are not missable. All Tier 1s must to be upgraded to Tier 2, and *one* Tier 2 weapon must be upgraded to Tier 3. Tier 3 is a character's "ultimate weapon" and there are eight variants of it, depending on the Tier 2 weapon used to create it; however, creating only one of the variants satisfies the conditions for the trophy.

Similarly, almost all of the Tier 1 accessories are also available in the shop; a small handful are only found in chests and/or missions, but almost all are accessible after the last boss. Tier 1 accessories must be upgraded to their maximum Tiers. Do not - I repeat, do not - desynthesize/sell any of the Elemental Rings (especially the Aqua Ring, found in Chapters 6 & 9) before transforming it into the Riptide Ring & Nereid Ring. This one has caused a few folks some grief, so it's best to "play it safe" and not sell any accessories 'til the end.

Once this task has been completed, return to the Oerba Village and speak with Bhakti; he will assess the "completeness" of your arsenal and say "Soubihin wa bacchiri desu!" ("Your equipment is flawless!") if you haven't missed any weapons or accessories. This is the final requirement for the trophy.

"Treasure Hunter" unlocks Fang's Theme for the XMB.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/35.jpgLoremaster (Gold)

Discerned the full attributes of 100 enemies.

This is the easiest Gold Trophy in the game and it should come naturally; for me, it unlocked sometime in Chapter 10. Using the TP Ability "Libra" can - and will - hasten the scanning process. If you would like to see how many enemies have been fully scanned, check the "Enemy Intel" in the menu; enemies which have a "check mark" next to them are considered complete and are counted towards the total.

"Loremaster" unlocks Sazh's Theme for the XMB.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/307/36.jpgSuperstar (Gold)

Earned a 5-star ranking in the battle to determine the world's fate.

5-Star the final form of the last boss. Only the *final form* is necessary. It will be difficult on one's first try (and without Crystallium Lv. 10), but it is certainly possible. For an easier time, do this battle a second time w/ more powerful characters who have been trained throughout the course of the Cie'th Stone Missions.

"Superstar" unlocks Lightning's Theme for the XMB.

- - - - - Detailed Strategies for Mission Bosses - - - - -

If you are having trouble with a Mission Boss...

1. Are your characters' abilities/stats maxed? Characters should be Role Lv. 5 in their 3 Main Roles for Rank D/C Missions. Role Lv. 5 in *all 6 Roles* is recommended for Rank B/A Missions. Grind more. :)

2. Are your characters equipped well? Take time to create their Ultimate Weapons - You will need to do it soon enough for Treasure Hunter. Hands down, the two most critical ones are Fang's "Kain's Lance" (for Highwind) and Vanille's "Nirvana" & "Malboro Wand" (for debuff Magic Accuracy, including Death). Sprint Shoes (for Auto-Haste) are also an incredible advantage, and I recommend creating them from Tetratic Crowns and Tetratic Tiaras ASAP.

3. Are you using shrouds before battle? Most (but not all) of the Mission Bosses can be Sneak Attacked, and a 100% Preemptive Strike to start off the battle can be the difference between a 5-Star victory or a crushing defeat.

4. Are you using Death? Vanille's Death spell (insta-kill to an enemy, but low Magic Accuracy) works on a surprising number of enemies such as Adamantaimai, and it even works on a few Mission Bosses. Create her Malboro Wand (or even better, upgrade it to Nirvana) to increase its Magic Accuracy.

5. Are you using Lucky Break? It will randomly inflict Stagger Status on an enemy *at any time*, making it a useful (albeit unreliable) technique against Mission Bosses who cannot be Sneak Attacked.

- Equip character with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 weapon that has "Stagger Lock."

- Equip character with one of the following accessories: Speed Sash, Energy Sash, Survivalist Catalog.

- "Lucky Break" will appear in the character's list of latent abilities.

Those tips aside, use common sense. Is the boss spamming you w/ fire-based attacks? Equip fire-resistant accessories. Is the boss weak to magic damage? Equip magic-enhacing accessories and focus on Ravager-based Paradigms. 90% of the Mission Bosses can be easily defeated if you follow the aforementioned advice. There are a few exceptions, however...

Mission #55 - Neochu

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE_92BoN31w]YouTube- FF13 MISSION55 ネオチュー攻略 デス即死 ★×5[/ame]

Mission #55 rewards you w/ the accessory "Grow Egg" (2x CP for All Characters). Obviously, this is an incredible item, but the battle itself is far from easy. Thankfully, there is a "cheap strategy"...

Leader: Vanille (Nirvana or Malboro Wand, Sprint Shoes)

Member #1: Fang (Sprint Shoes)

Member #2: Lightning (Sprint Shoes)

Paradigm #1: Saboteur/Sentinel/Medic (Default Paradigm)

Paradigm #2: Medic/Sentinel/Commando

Paradigm #3: Medic/Commando/Commando

Neochu isn't immune to Vanille's Death, and we will use it to ensure a swift victory. She *must* have Nirvana or Malboro Wand, and if at all possible, 2000+ Magic Stat. Use shrouds. When the battle starts, spam him with Death until he dies, then switch to Paradigm #2 or Paradigm #3 and clean up the remaining enemies. The video above shows successful execution of this technique.

Mission #64 - Welkingetrix

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBRbPfeoisU]YouTube- FF13 ミッション 64 ★5 攻略 (Mission 64 5 Star Rank) [1/2][/ame]

Leader: Fang (Kain's Lance, Sprint Shoes)

Member #1: Vanille (Nirvana or Malboro Wand, Sprint Shoes)

Member #2: Hope (Nue, Sprint Shoes)

Paradigm #1: Saboteur/Saboteur/Sentinel (Default Paradigm)

Paradigm #2: Commando/Medic/Sentinel

Paradigm #3: Medic/Medic/Medic

Paradigm #4: Synergist/Synergist/Synergist

Paradigm #5: Sentinel/Sentinel/Sentinel

Use shrouds and when the battle starts, make sure to stick Bio and De-Protect on him. Because of his high HP, Bio will do *significant* amounts of damage and should be kept on him at all times, especially since he'll heal himself in between rounds. Once those two debuffs are on, switch to Paradigm #2 and attack with Fang until he switches to his defensive mode. At this point, switch to Paradigm #3 to heal yourself and then Paradigm #4 to rebuff. Then the cycle starts over from the beginning: Stick Bio/De-Protect, then attack him with Fang while one member acts as Sentinel and the other is healing him/her at all times. Once the boss falls under ~9 Mil. HP, he'll throw a massive attack into the mix which will significantly damage all members; at this point, as you did in the Long Gui battle, switch everyone to Paradigm #5 (Sentinel/Sentinel/Sentinel), then switch back to wherever you were in the Paradigm #1-4 cycle previously.

Excellent work! Now I want this game a lot more T_T....

Thx for the guide Aeliana! =D

Question: According with the road map, I can play the game at my own pace and without seeing guides and after beating it I can still get all the trophies? Or is some things that is better to do in the "first playtrough"? I'll lost too much time making it this way?

Correct! In fact, I think the Platinum will take *less time* this way, because Role Lv. 5 (via Crystallium Lv. 10) allows characters to become *much* stronger, and this will make all the other tasks, such as Cie'th Stone Missions, a lot easier.

Thanks for the positive feedback! The "official" guide is still under construction - bear with me! :)

Wow Aeliana you are doing a great job with the whole Final Fantasy XIII section! :) First all the hints and tips in the Leaked platinum thread and the Plat difficulty thread, then your "unofficial" guide, which was good, and now your "official" guide as well that looks good too. Plus you submitted all the trophy images. On behalf of all FFXIII fans i say thank you! :)

PS. Trophy images look amazing

Good job on the guide Aeliana! Nothing much I'd really change on it. You did say the chocobo ribbon was a rare find, so I guess they'll understand that it's not in the same spot for everyone. I wish I didn't look at the platinum image lol...but oh well, what's done is done :D. And my game time is over the Approx. time limit :(...I blame it on taking too long to get the Grow Egg.

Great trophy guide, a real plus for the site :applause:

I've been keeping an eye on it as i'm eagerly awaiting the EU release of this title.

Good to know the game can be played normally and then attacked for trophies after the main story.

This guide/road map will get a lot of use :D

Wow Aeliana you are doing a great job with the whole Final Fantasy XIII section!

Agreed.

I noticed that there are 0 missable trophies... just a quick question...

Is there a trophy that requires you to collect? Lost Odyssey had a ridiculous achievement that required you to find every item in the game (that means all items in a specific area). Technically, that achievement is not missable, but if you aren't following a guide, it's near impossible.

Please tell me there isn't anything like that :p

P.S. Awesome work, these forums are going to love you come March for being able to already have a functioning guide.

you say that its better to play the game without a guide, so forget hunting for trophies and just enjoy the epic tale of final fantasy , then when the game is over focus on the trophies? are you sure this is the best way to do it. it could be i dont know. im just real scared that i miss something. but once i get the game some stuff like crystilization will become clear to me.

btw awsome job with the guide, im so jealous that your platinum ff 13 already, gosh i so exicted for this game, you cant imange!

There are no "collectables" in the traditional sense. There are a few accessories (no more than a dozen or so) which are only found in treasure chests, but these are all accessible after the final battle, so don't stress about it. You can back-track to all areas which contain chests/missons necessary for Treasure Hunter.

ok i just needed a little confirmation on a little question. If you can play the game straight and then go back for the trophies after last boss. Does that mean that you have to start a new game plus+ or does the game just let you free roam after final boss completion like Batman AA?

It's free roam. There is no New Game + in FFXIII.

I got one more question.... ^^U... With the missions, you said that is easier to get the five stars once you get the "Golden Watch" from the 64th mission, I think that the last mission is the hardest one, isn't? So what is your advice... Pass all the missions to get items/exp (But not getting five stars in all of them) to pass the 64th mission and then repeat the ones that you need the five stars.... Or train/train/train and traaain a lot to beat the 64th mission first and later go and get the five stars in all in almost the first try?

P.D. Little question, the trophie picture of "Instrument of Tragedy" and "Instrument of Flight" are the same?

Thx again!

Actually, it isn't even possible to beat Mission #64 first, it has 'prerequisite missions' which have to be beaten before it unlocks. So basically, my answer would be to focus on *completing* all the missions first and foremost, then return to the ones without 5-Star Ranking and do them again w/ Gold Watch.

RE: Images for "Instrument of Tragedy" and "Instrument of Flight" - Good catch! I'll fix them tonight, that was my mistake. Thanks DE. :)

Actually, that was my mistake. :p Can you PM me the right image for the one that's wrong? I deleted the thread in Submit with all of the images, so I can't pull the correct one from there.

Should I wait for the EU release or should I import the JAP I'm really looking forward to this :)

Honestly after playing the JAP version, the US/EU trailers are pretty annoying from the voiceovers. If you can read at least Katakana I'd get the JAP version, but if you can't understand anything then I'd just wait.
