Section 02. Introduction

Before we begin, this guide is based off the Japanese version of the game. However, this is an HD release of a game with an abundance of information for an English version. If there are changes in names from the PS2 version we would appreciate the feedback to ensure 100% accuracy.

Final Fantasy X HD is one half of the X/X-2 HD Remaster of games released over a decade ago on the PS2. They're both HD Remasters of the International Version of the game, which means there may be changes in the game from how you remember it; this is because there were small tweaks in in the game aside from the extra content.

When going for this Platinum you should take note of the one missable trophy. It requires you to collect all 26 Al Bhed Primers and if you miss one of the ones that can be missed, you'll have to restart the entire game. Take note that some can be missed and obtained later, but it's best to earn them at the earliest possible moment.

Section 03. Walkthrough

When you start and play the game you'll notice that it is very linear. You'll need to take notice of the Al Bhed Primers as they appear immediately at the beginning of the game and you should always obtain them immediately. You should also make a note to find the Destruction Sphere item in every Temple as that's a requirement to earn Anima. As you continue through the game, it opens up a bit when you reach the Calm Lands and then completely opens up when you gain the Airship. Once you have the Airship you'll be able to return to previous areas, but be warned that some places now have Dark Aeons guarding them and things you may have originally missed will now be blocked until you defeat the Dark Aeon.

Items/Trophies Blocked by Dark Aeons

Spoiler

Besaid Village

Jecht Sphere (Messenger from the Past)

Al Bhed Primer 02 (Master Linguist)

Besaid Temple (Feel the Pain)

Valefor's Second Overdrive (Not trophy-related, but useful)

Lake Macalania

Macalania Temple (Feel the Pain)

Yunalesca's Lair

Sun Sigil (Not trophy-related, used to power up Tidus's Celestial Weapon)

Once you've gained the Airship, you are near the end of the game. You can go ahead and beat the game or instead explore the side content to earn trophies before you finish the game. Whether you clear the game first or not doesn't matter as this is the time when all side events are possible.

When you've beaten the game, you should take the time to watch the Eternal Calm video for its trophy. You do this by choosing it from the main menu when you first boot up the game. The first option is the game while the second option is a roughly 15 minute video of what happens in-between X and X-2. Go ahead and watch the video for your first trophy; you have to let it run all the way through otherwise you won't get credit.

Section 3.1 - Sphere Grid Type

When starting a brand new game, the game asks you what Sphere Grid type you would like to use; you can choose Standard or Expert. The differences between the two grids is that the Standard is how most people probably remember the game and was the only option before the International Version. It has characters following a path that gives them specific stat boosts and abilities that can later be left by using Key Spheres.

The Expert Grid is a smaller and more open grid where everyone starts in the same location, but the player gets to choose how the characters can grow. This grid allows for characters to learn abilities from what would be another characters path much earlier and doesn't require as many Key Spheres. Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but the deciding factor should be how familiar you are with the game. If you're not familiar with the game or the bosses I recommend using the Standard Grid, where if you are very familiar with the game you should use the Expert Grid.

Section 3.2 - End Game Method

When you reach the end of the game you'll still have trophies to do; the big three are defeating the two Super Bosses (Nemesis and Penance), and maximizing the Sphere Grid for your party, on top of whatever else you need to accomplish. While there's no wrong way to go about this, there are two possible ways to perform this step; one is by powering up your party and having them perform what's required, the other is by building Yojimbo and having him do all the work. There is one warning you should take heed of; there is a trophy for hitting an enemy for 99999 damage. Zanmato is not damage based, and so you would have to build a magic or strength stat to perform that at the least.

While there's no real difference in the end result or time spent, the method at which you go about it differs greatly. The Yojimbo method requires you to buy his trust and pay him sufficiently to where he'll regularly use his Zanmato attack which can destroy any enemy in one hit. This does make the fights a lot shorter, but at the same time getting him to that level requires massive amounts of gil. The other method requires building your party's stats properly and equipping them with proper gear so they'll be able to function and defeat whatever enemy they come across.

Regardless of what method you choose, you'll have to fill up the Sphere Grid for all party members as well. If you rely on Yojimbo too much, your party members may not have enough kills to utilize the Don Tonberry Sphere Level trick. However, at the same time you won't have to grind the various stat spheres and can just overload on a simple stat type that's easy to obtain. While there's no guaranteed best method, it's best to choose which one you want to follow. Both have their pros and cons, but you should follow what you want. If you do not use the Yojimbo method, I would advise using a team of Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku as they have the best Overdrives in the game.

Outside of building towards the end game, you should go ahead and finish off any trophies you may have skipped in the main game; collecting Jecht Spheres, Al Bhed Primers, Bribing Enemies, Stealing with Rikku, and any others you haven't completed. The game is very open ended with its trophies, just be sure you get the Al Bhed Primers as it's the only time missable trophy.

Obtain all available trophies

It's the Platinum trophy and as the description says, obtain all other trophies to earn this one.

b27.jpg Speaking in Tongues (B)

Find 1 Al Bhed Primer

There are 26 Al Bhed Primers throughout Spira; some are missable and some aren't. Simply find one and you'll earn this trophy. The first primer is obtainable on the Al Bhed ship at the start of the game.

See Master Linguist for a complete list.

8ff.jpg Teamwork! (B)

Win a blitzball match

You will have to play at least 17 Blitzball matches to earn the Platinum, and will be required to win a majority of them. Simply win one Blitzball match to earn this trophy. This trophy can be earned by winning the storyline game at Luca Stadium.

See Blitzball Master for details about playing.

43e.jpg The Right Thing (B)

Clear the Besaid Cloister of Trials

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. Near the start of the game you'll find yourself going through the Besaid Cloister of Trials. Upon making it through the trials you'll earn this trophy.

You'll have to earn the item via the Destruction Sphere in this Cloister of Trials to earn Anima and the Feel the Pain trophy. Failing to do so before earning the Airship will result in Besaid Temple being blocked by Dark Valefor.

See Feel the Pain for details.

a06.jpg A Talent for Acquisition (B)

Steal successfully with Rikku 200 times

This trophy is very direct in its wording; with Rikku successfully steal items 200 times. Rikku starts with the "Steal" ability and you can steal from every enemy in the game. This trophy can also be earned by using the "Mug" ability. So keep stealing and this trophy will pop on the 200th successful steal.

011.jpg All Together (B)

All party members come together

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. You will earn this trophy after crossing the Moonflow and having Rikku join your group.

685.jpg Heartstrings (B)

View the "Underwater Date" scene

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. After escaping Bevelle, your party will be in Macalania Woods. Talk to Yuna in the water to view a FMV and earn this trophy.

a50.jpg Show Off! (B)

Win a blitzball tournament

This trophy requires you to play a Blitzball tournament and win. This is selectable from the Blitzball menu you can select at save spheres; if tournament isn't selectable exit and re-enter the Blitzball menu until it is. Now play through and win the 3 games it takes to end a tournament. You will have to do this at least twice on your way to Blitzball Master.

See Blitzball Master for more details about playing.

3e2.jpg Striker (B)

Learn the Jecht shot

This trophy is only obtainable when you take the ferry from Kilika to Luca. There is a Blitzball on the deck near the stern of the ship. Interact with the Blitzball to start a minigame where Tidus has to clear his head of Jecht's taunts. When successful at the minigame, Tidus learns the Jecht Shot and you earn this trophy. The earliest you can obtain this trophy is during the storyline ferry ride between Kilika and Luca, but can be obtained at any time by taking the same ferry from Kilika once you get the airship.

c85.jpg Chocobo License (B)

Pass all chocobo training

This is obtainable once you reach the Calm Lands. You'll need to find the Chocobo Trainer (she changes positions in the Calm Lands depending on how you enter the area) and tell her you want to ride chocobos. She'll put you through 4 training exercises and when you pass them all you'll earn this trophy and be able to ride chocobos.

This is a prerequisite to Chocobo Rider.

eaa.jpg Lightning Dancer (B)

Dodge 200 lightning strikes and obtain the reward

This trophy can be very difficult, but also easy depending on how you approach it. Once you enter the Thunder Plains, you'll have lightning coming down and striking you randomly; you'll need to press :cross:(EN)/:circle:(JP) to dodge the lightning when you see the screen flash white. If you press it fast enough you'll dodge the lightning, if not you'll get struck; you'll need to dodge 200 consecutive strikes and get the reward to earn this trophy. You'll have to count your dodges as the trophy is only rewarded once you get the item for 200 consecutive dodges. Keep in mind you can't leave the area or use the save sphere to keep your dodge count.

Before you attempt this you should get a piece of armor with the No Encounters ability; attempting this with random battles is nigh impossible, but also speeds up the process. Now on the left side, near the middle of the southern half of the Thunder Plains is a crater; there's a lightning tower just south and a little niche to the east. Every time you approach this crater lightning will strike, approaching the crater literally forces the game to send a lightning strike. You can dodge this strike, then take a few steps away and go back towards the crater to force and dodge another lightning strike.

This method is not only effective and relatively safe, it helps offset the upscale lag input. The HD version has lag input and so with a random lightning strike even if you see the screen flash white, you'll probably be too late to press the button to dodge. By using this area you can compensate for the lag and press the button at the right time to dodge the lightning. If that's not going well for you and you have an older model TV, you can swap out the HD/PbPrG cables with AV cables to get rid of the lag.

Once you've dodged 200 (or more) lightning strikes, head to the Travel Agency that's between the North and South halves of the Thunder Plains. There will be a chest outside with various items for your lightning dodging prowess. The final item will be the Venus Crest / Fire Star Holy Seal for Lulu's Ultimate Weapon. Once you get that item you will earn the trophy.

2ee.jpg Feel the Pain (B)

Obtain Anima

This trophy will be near the end of the game as you'll be required to have the Airship to reach the temple holding Anima; however, there is also another set of actions you must do before you can reach Anima. The first thing you'll need to do is obtain the item in the six regular temples of Spira; Besaid, Kilika, Djose, Macalania, Bevelle, and Zanarkand. These items are obtained by utilizing the Destruction Sphere in each Cloister of Trials and opening the hidden chest. Note that you automatically earn the item in Bevelle, while you'll have to go back to Zanarkand and clear it a second time to obtain the item.

With that step finished; on the Airship use the search function and check the cloudy archipelago in the south-west portion of the map to find Baaj Temple. The coordinates should be anywhere between; X = 11 to 16, Y = 57 to 63. With the temple found, it's now selectable from the Airship List, so go there. You'll be in the area Tidus washed up in after his first encounter with Sin. Move along the narrow path and jump into the water, swim to the doorway, and defeat the giant fish that attacked him at the start of the game. With the enemy dead, go ahead and enter the doorways until you're in a room with a shield and six statues. Interact with each statue to activate it; when all six statues are active the shield will lower and you'll be able to enter the Chamber of the Fayth. If you've not obtained the item from any of the six temples, the statue will not activate and you will not be able to enter the Chamber of the Fayth. With the shield down, enter the Chamber of the Fayth, listen to the Fayth's story and afterwards you'll have Anima and this trophy.

See the Cloister of Trials Guide for specific temple details.

334.jpg It's All About the Money (B)

Obtain Yojimbo

This trophy is obtainable once you reach the Calm Lands. After leaving the Calm Lands but before reaching Mount Gagazet you'll have to cross a bridge and there will be an alternate path under the bridge. Go down this bridge to a new area and there's a cave entrance near a save sphere; it's inside this cave you can obtain Yojimbo. There is some story with this cave, but there are also plenty of fiends so be aware of their presence. Once you reach the back of the cave you'll enter into a fight against Yojimbo himself.

Yojimbo isn't that powerful as long as you have a good defense stat; he himself has a good defense stat and a weak magic defense stat. The only thing to watch out for is if he gets a full Overdrive Meter you will have to have Yuna come in and summon an Aeon to take his next attack. Once Yojimbo is down, use the teleporter and have it move you north (up) to the Chamber of the Fayth.

Warning: Before you negotiate his price, Yojimbo will want to know how you'll use his power; you have three options available to you. If you plan to use him in the end game, select the third option which is something like "To defeat the most powerful enemies." What you choose here determines his likelihood to perform a Zanmato powerful enough to take out powerful enemies. Even if you don't plan to use him for the end game, it's the best option.

After answering his question he'll want you to pay him for him to join you; you can negotiate him lower but be careful because he will refuse you if you go too low. He first quote is 250,000 Gil, which you can cut down to 125,001 Gil. This will get him to lower his price to 225,000 Gil; you can cut it down to 112,502 Gil. This will get him to lower his price to 202,500; from here you can undercut but not a lot. Some claim to have gotten him down to 180,000; but I was never that lucky. If you undercut his third offer he'll turn you down and you'll have to renegotiate the price again; if you offer enough he'll join you and you'll earn this trophy.

See the Yojimbo FAQ if you plan to use him in the end game.

jFxefPZ.jpg Delta Attack! (B)

Obtain Magus Sisters

This trophy is obtainable once you have the airship, though you can perform most of the requirements once you reach Mount Gagazet. This trophy has three parts and the order doesn't matter as long as you perform all parts. The first part in the Calm Lands requires you to be able to ride a chocobo (see Chocobo License) as this is required to reach Remiem Temple. Once you can reach Remiem Temple you'll be able to have Aeon Duels with Belgemine; you should also notice the doorway blocked by a glowing shield in the back of the temple. You can challenge her Aeons and once you defeat her Bahamut, she'll give you the Flower Scepter; this is an item that can break one of the shields on the door in the back of the temple.

The other part is in the Calm Lands, you need to open up the Monster Arena. This is first done by capturing at least one of every fiend in the Calm Lands. Once that is done you'll need to capture at least one of every fiend in Mount Gagazet. Once you've done that return to the Monster Arena and the attendant will give you the Blossom Crown; this is an item that can break one of the shields on the door in the back of Remiem Temple.

Now with those two items you'll have to earn the other two optional summons; Anima and Yojimbo. If you do not have those two summons you'll not be able to break the seal in the back of the temple. Once you have both items and the two optional summons you can break the seals. Yuna will enter the Chamber of the Fayth and when she comes out you'll have the Magus Sisters as well as this trophy.

See Feel the Pain for Anima details.

See It's All About the Money for Yojimbo details.

a1c.jpg Theater Enthusiast (B)

Buy every sphere at the Luca Theater

This trophy is pricey as it requires you to spend 426,000 Gil and is obtainable once you reach the final dungeon of the game; this is because you have music and movie spheres, and movie spheres can only be bought once you see the FMV they pertain to. Once you have access to the final dungeon, return to Luca and enter the theater; it's the path heading north when walking away from the stadium area. Once there you can talk to the two short NPC's standing around; the one on the right sells movie spheres and the one on the left sells music spheres.

You need to buy all 50 movie spheres (at 5,000 gil a piece) from the attendant on the right. You also need to buy 68 music spheres (at 2,000 gil a piece) from the attendant on the left. With this you may notice the trophy doesn't appear. After buying all the music spheres, talk to the attendant again and he'll sell you 3 more spheres for 40,000 gil. Once you have all 50 movie spheres and 71 music spheres you'll earn this trophy. If you don't want to lose all that gil, save your game, get the trophy then reload your save.

796.jpg Chocobo Rider (B)

Win a race with a catcher chocobo with a total time of 0:0:0

This trophy can be very difficult and is obtainable once you reach the Calm Lands. The first order of business is to get the ability to ride chocobos (see Chocobo License). Now with that you'll need to challenge the Chocobo Trainer to her fourth training exercise and win with a time of 0:0:0 to earn this trophy.

This can be a very frustrating trophy as it is partially luck-based in regards to the birds spawning. Keep in mind that for every balloon you get, you get 3 seconds knocked off your total time and for every bird you hit you get 3 seconds added to your total time. There's not much advice to give aside from practice and hope for the best. The bird's spawn is somewhat random while the balloons seem to have a few different sets of where they spawn.

The advice I can give is at the start, do not try to go for balloons closer to the Chocobo Trainer; as veering into her lane will put her in front of you and then she'll be able to grab the balloons in the starting area. The other piece of advice is when you see birds coming for you, do not try to grab any balloons. You should turn 90 degrees to dodge them and do not risk a balloon if birds are coming for you.

b0f.jpg Powerstrike (B)

Do 9999 damage or more in a single attack

This trophy isn't that difficult to pull off as long as you level your characters during the regular storyline. This can be done with either physical or magical damage and by a regular character or an Aeon. Keep in mind that elemental weaknesses do 150% of damage and can help you reach 9999. I personally earned this trophy in the Via Purifico by using Ixion's Overdrive against the Sahagin enemies.

This trophy can stack with Megastrike.

4d2.jpg Under the Table (B)

Spend 100,000 gil or more in bribes

This trophy can be earned in one bribe or across multiple bribes. Simply use the bribe skill and spend at least 100,000 Gil across multiple bribes and you'll earn this trophy.

188.jpg Messenger from the Past (B)

Obtain all Jecht Spheres

This trophy consists of 10 Jecht Spheres that are scattered all over Spira. Luckily, none are missable. You can first start collecting Jecht Spheres once you reach Macalania Woods and defeat the Spherimorph boss. There will be a scene afterwards and you'll earn your first Jecht Sphere; from that point on you can collect the Jecht Spheres. The one Jecht Sphere to be wary of is the one in Besaid as it will become blocked once you get the Airship and the Dark Aeons appear. One final note is Auron receives additional Overdrives for finding more Jecht Spheres.

Second Overdrive: Shooting Star

Obtain 1 Jecht Sphere

Third Overdrive: Banishing Blade

Obtain 3 Jecht Spheres

Fourth Overdrive: Tornado

Obtain all 10 Jecht Spheres

 Jecht Sphere Locations

24c.jpg Overcoming the Past (B)(H)

Defeat Yunalesca

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. You mist fight Yunalesca upon reaching the final area of Zanarkand. She has three forms, each equally powerful with their own unique styles of combat. You don't get to rest between forms and must defeat all three to earn this trophy.

See Split Infinity's Walkthrough for details.

5d8.jpg The Destination of Hatred (B)(H)

Defeat Seymour Omnis

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. You meet and fight Seymour a total of 4 times, his final time being as Seymour Omnis which you fight when Inside Sin. Defeat Seymour for good to earn this trophy.

See Split Infinity's Walkthrough for details.

0ee.jpg A Journey's Catalyst (S)

View "Eternal Calm"

This can easily be one of the first trophies you get. At the main menu where you select what game you want to play there are four options; "Eternal Calm" is the second option from the top. Choose it and sit through the video to earn this trophy. The video is about 15 minutes long and you have to sit through the entire video or you won't earn the trophy.

aaa.jpg Megastrike (S)

Deal 99999 damage with one attack

This trophy can take a while to earn as you will need a weapon with Break Damage Limit. I would recommend using a character's Celestial Weapon as on top of having Break Damage Limit, they have other criteria that assists the character doing more damage; Tidus, Wakka, Kimahri, and Rikku's weapon do more damage the closer to your Max HP you are. Auron's does more the further away from his Max HP is. Lulu and Yuna do more the closer to their Max MP they are. If you're not using the Yojimbo method in the end game this trophy should come naturally as you work to max out your stats.

If you are using Yojimbo and not maxing your stats, you'll need to work a bit to earn this trophy. Keep in mind you can also get a Critical Hit with a physical attack or use an Elemental Weakness with a magical attack. Some Overdrives also do a single hit for more damage and you can use those to also raise the damage potential. You should also be attacking an enemy with a very low defense/magic defense stat and if not the enemy should be susceptible to Armor Break or Mental Break to cancel out their defenses. There are many ways to reach that damage potential but nothing is better than having a high or maxed out strength/magic stat. You'll earn this trophy once you hit an enemy for 99999 in a single hit.

bd3.jpg Chocobo Master (S)

Get 5 treasure chests during the Chocobo Race at Remiem Temple and win the race

You can get this trophy when you first reach the Calm Lands; you'll have to be able to ride chocobos (see Chocobo License) and then head to Remiem Temple. When there you'll have to win the Chocobo Race while collecting 5 chests during the race. You'll earn the trophy at the end of the race. This can be very difficult to pull off, as there's no way to sabotage the other chocobo and so it comes down to individual skill. The one thing to note is the controls can feel wonky and will take some time to get used to. This is the main problem as you move slower when grinding the walls of the path and not staying in the middle.

There are numerous chests you can get in the race, but there are specific chests you should focus on getting to earn this trophy.

Chest 1 - Stay on the path from the start and get the chest at the end.

You'll jump down to the lower path after looting this chest.

Chest 2 - Head up the ramp to your immediate right then turn around and grab the chest.

You'll jump down to the lower path after looting this chest (same as chest 1).

Chest 3 - Head up the ramp to your immediate right and go straight and grab the chest.

You'll jump down to a lower path after looting this chest.

Chest 4 - Run straight on the path you land on after the previous chest and loot the chest at the end.

You'll fly over the small gap after looting this chest.

Chest 5 - Run straight and go up one of the two possible ramps to your right. The ramp requires you to turn around, but once up the ramp continue heading the way you originally were then loot the chest at the end.

You'll jump near to the ending of the race after looting this chest.

From here dash left and down the path to finish the race. If you're barely head of the other chocobo you can hold left and hopefully cut him off and cross the finish line before it can.

07b.jpg Sphere Master (S)

Complete a Sphere Grid for one character

This trophy is one of the more time-consuming trophies in the game. It requires you to fill up every single node on the Sphere Grid with a stat enhancement and then have one of the characters activate every single node on the Sphere Grid. This will require unlocking all Sphere Locks and grinding stat spheres from the Monster Arena to fill in the Sphere Grid.

See Perfect Sphere Master for additional details.

b55.jpg Blitzball Master (S)

Unlock all slot reels

This trophy requires you to get all overdrives for Wakka; he starts with one (Element Reels) and can earn three more through the Blitzball minigame. You can start playing the Blitzball minigame once you clear the storyline Blitzball Tournament in Luca. While you can play Blitzball that early, there's a few reasons why you should hold off on doing so. The first one is that the Reels only appear after Wakka takes part in so many battles, I believe you need to clear 450 for access to all reels. The other reason is that it's not until the end of the game do you have access to some of the best Blitzball players, which can speed this process up as you'll have to go through at least 16 games and win a majority of them.

After partaking in enough battles the first slots (Attack Reels) can appear as a 1st place reward in a Tournament. If you know you've completed enough battles and it's not there as a prize; you can exit and re-enter the Blitzball Menu to cycle the Tournament and its prizes. It'll take precisely 3 exits/re-enters to cycle a Tournament. So instead of playing through countless games, use this method to cycle the prizes and then win the Tournament for the Attack Reels.

The second slots (Status Reels) can appear as a 1st place reward in a League, after winning the Attack Reels. Much like the Tournament games, the League prizes can be cycled by choosing the Reset Data option at the bottom of the Blitzball Menu. You should also be aware that even though it cycles the prizes, your team will be reset to their default level; some characters go below level 3 which means they won't have any access to abilities (Tidus with Jecht Shot for example). However, if you manage to pick up the better players you should be able to overpower the opposing team. Keep in mind that a League consists of 10 games and 1st place is rewarded to who has the most points at the end of the league. Winning a game gives you 3 points, tying a game gives you 1 point, losing a game gives no points.

The third slots (Auroch Reels) can appear as a 1st place reward in a Tournament. Just like before with the Attack Reels you can manipulate the game into what prizes the Tournament offers. Win the Tournament for the final Reels and the trophy.

See Blitzball FAQ for details about playing.

7b7.jpg Learning! (S)

Learn to use all enemy abilities

This trophy requires you to have Kimahri learn all 12 of his overdrives; he starts with one and must learn the 11 others by using Lancet on specific enemies. You can learn the overdrives in any order and the trophy will pop once you get the final overdrive. Many of his overdrives can be learned during his solo fight with Biran and Yenke Ronso; but some attacks requires you to Lancet them immediately after they use that ability.

Obtain all Aeons

This trophy requires Yuna to get all Aeon summons available in the game. You receive Valefor, Ifrit, Ixion, Shiva, and Bahamut as you go through the storyline. But to earn this trophy you'll also need to earn Yojimbo, Anima, and the Magus Sisters. Once you obtain the last Aeon you'll earn this trophy.

See Feel the Pain for Anima details.

See Delta Attack! for Magus Sister details.

Obtain all Celestial Weapons

This trophy requires you to earn the Celestial Weapon for every character; you do not need to power them up with the Crests or Sigils. This trophy will pop once you obtain the final Celestial Weapon. While it is not required to power any of the weapons up, if you're not using the Yojimbo method I advise doing so if only for the characters you plan to use.

281.jpg Master Linguist (G)

Final all 26 Al Bhed Primers

(Missable) This is the only missable trophy and it requires you to obtain all 26 of the Al Bhed Primers in the game; some which are only obtainable in a small section of the game. Luckily not many of them are completely missable, but I still advise going slow and using multiple saves to ensure you don't miss a single Primer.

Spoiler

#01. Al Bhed Ship

On the ship with Rikku and Brother once they rescue Tidus. On the other side of the ship across from the Save Sphere.

This Primer can be obtained from the Oasis on Bikanel Island if you miss it.

#2. Besaid Village

Inside the Crusaders Tent, near the desk at the entrance. Vision is obscured by NPC's depending on where you are in the story.

This Primer can be blocked by Dark Valefor if you don't get it before getting the Airship.

#3. S.S. Liki - Engine Room

Inside the Engine Room of the Ship that transports you from Besaid to Kilika; it's near the bottom of the screen.

#4. Kilika - Tavern

On the bar that's inside the Tavern in Kilika, accessible once Yuna performs The Sending during the storyline.

#5. S.S. Winno - Bridge

On the floor of the bridge of the Ship that transports you from Kilika to Luca.

#6. Luca Stadium - Left Locker Hallway

On the floor of the hallway outside of the left-side locker room in Luca. May be obscured by NPC's depending on where you are in the story.

#7. Luca Theater - Lobby

On the floor near, on the left just south of the stairs.

#8. Mi'hen High Road - Travel Agency

Automatically gifted by Rin.

#9. Mi'hen High Road - Path

In the screen north of the Travel Agency, as the path wraps around it's on the grass near the final bend where Maechen and Shelinda are.

#10. Mushroom Rock Road - Precipice

Near the end of the area before the final rock platform that leads to the elevator. There's a small path that hooks around to the left. Search the ground near the end of the curved path, it's hard to see on the ground.

#11. Djose Highroad

About halfway through this path, it's blocked by a rock pillar where the camera shifts view.

#12. Moonflow - North Side

On the Northern Side of the Moonflow, up the ramp and to the left.

#13. Guadosalam - House

There's a house on the far left side of the area. The Primer is inside the house on the floor.

#14. Thunder Plains - Travel Agency

Talk to Rikku to have Rin appear. Talk to Rin and when he asks how your study of Al Bhed is going, say it's going well.

If you fail this, it can be obtained at the Oasis on Bikanel Island.

#15. Macalania Woods - Northern Exit

In the area where Auron clears the trees to show Tidus something important. There's a path to the south-right, it's along that path and difficult to see.

#16. Lake Macalania - Outside Travel Agency

Literally right outside the Agency, to the left of the door.

#17. Sanubia Desert - Central

This is the third area you're in once arriving on Bikanel Island; the one with the Save Sphere in the Middle of the area. Left of the Save Sphere are empty buildings, inside the building to the right of the exit of the area.

#18. Sanubia Desert - Central

Using the Save Sphere in #17 as the same point of reference. Head north and it's near the sign that's near the area exit.

#19. Al Bhed Home - Outside (Missable)

Right when you approach the Al Bhed Home, before heading inside check near the rubble on the left side.

#20. Al Bhed Home - Quarters (Missable)

When you enter the Al Bhed Home you'll eventually be in a narrow hallway and the camera will shift to an odd angle. Move forward until it fixes itself, now go back the way you came and check the door to the left. Inside the door you'll be attacked. Clear the enemies then check the bed for the Primer.

#21. Al Bhed Home - Hallway (Missable)

In the same hallway as mentioned in #20. When you move forward there will be a three-way split. The left has a Save Sphere on it, head to the right path and the Primer is on the ground in the back corner.

#22. Bevelle Temple - Pre-Cloister of Trials (Missable)

After a specific storyline event you'll be in Bevelle and you'll be making your way to the Cloister of Trials. There's a small area with a set of stairs and you'll watch the party leave through a door in the back. The Primer is on the ground just to the right of the stairs.

#23. The Calm Lands

The Calm Lands is a vast area, this Primer is on a small ledge in the far North-West part of the area. Not that far to the left from where the Chocobo Trainer usually sits.

#24. Remiem Temple

You'll need to be able to ride a chocobo to reach Remiem Temple first (see Chocobo License). Once you reach the temple go across the bridge and down the left side path. The Primer is on the ground slightly past the sphere.

#25. Cavern of the Stolen Fayth

Deep in the Cave is a Save Sphere. The Primer is on the ground in the dead end to the left of the Save Sphere.

#26. Omega Ruins

Deep in the Omega Ruins is a circlular area with 4 chests facing each other. The Primer is against the wall near the left side torch on the wall.

088.jpg Perfect Sphere Master (G)

Complete the Sphere Grids for all main characters

This trophy is the most time-consuming trophy in the game. It requires you to fill up every single node on the Sphere Grid with a stat enhancement and then have all of the characters activate every single node on the Sphere Grid. This will require unlocking all Sphere Locks and grinding stat spheres from the Monster Arena to fill in the Sphere Grid. This trophy can be made slightly easier by choosing the Expert Grid over the Standard Grid, as the Expert Grid has fewer nodes to fill up.

The main problem with this trophy is getting everyone Sphere Levels so they can move around the Grid. There's a method to quickly gain Sphere Levels involving the Monster Arena. First you should unlock and fight One-Eye at the Monster Arena until he drops a character's weapon with the Triple AP ability and one to two empty slots. He's unlocked by capturing at least one of four different types of Floating Eye enemy types. With that in place, customize the weapon with the Overdrive -> AP ability and the Triple Overdrive ability. With the weapon equipped, put your character on Stoic Overdrive Mode.

Now in the Monster Arena fight a Don Tonberry. When the Tonberry is far away he'll counter every attack with his Grudge that does 100 damage for every kill that character's made; this can stack all the way up to 99999 damage. If a character gets hit for maximum damage they'll earn a boatload of AP and earn immense Sphere Levels at the end of the battle, especially when hit multiple times. You should note that once the Tonberry gets 4 turns he'll be too close to counter-attack with Grudge; from here you can finish him off or run away and still get your AP.

To optimize this process your party should be equipped with armor that has Auto-Phoenix and Auto-Haste. This allows your party to automatically revive the character who dies and they can get multiple turns in before the Tonberry gets too close.

If your character isn't getting hit that much by Grudge, you can farm kills with them at the Monster Arena by using a controller with auto-fire or by simply going to low level areas and earning them kills. If that's too boring for you, you can keep that character's weapon equipped then go to Omega Ruins and grind kills there. Just be sure they get at least one turn or they'll get no AP.

One final note is when you think you're nearing the end of a character's grid, select a Master Sphere and use it to scan for any possible missed nodes. You can use it to activate a node from anywhere on the Grid, but they're rare so try to conserve them and keep them to check for any missed nodes.

d77.jpg Perseverance (G)

Defeat Penance

Penance is the most powerful boss in the game and was unique to the International Version of the game. If you're not using Yojimbo it's a very long fight, not difficult but is a very slow fight. Your party should have maximum stats and a high (120+) luck stat to be able to defeat it. To simply fight it you'll need to defeat all the Dark Aeons to get it to appear. Once there you can select to fight it from the Airship destination list. Whether you choose to use Yojimbo or not, once it's dead you'll earn this trophy.

3b3.jpg Overcoming the Nemesis (G)

Defeat Nemesis

Nemesis is the most powerful boss selectable in the Monster Arena and was the most powerful boss before the International Version of the game. If you're not using Yojimbo it's a decently long fight. Your party should have maximum stats, yet he doesn't need a high luck stat to hit. To fight him you'll have to capture 10 of every fiend in all of Spira; and then defeat all of the Species Conquest, Area Conquest, and Original Creation fiends in the Monster Arena. Once you've done that talk to the Attendant and he'll unlock Nemesis for a fight in the Original Creation list. Whether you choose to use Yojimbo or not, once it's dead you'll earn this trophy.

See Monster Arena / Stat Building Guide for details.

809.jpg The Eternal Calm (G)(H)

Defeat Yu Yevon

This trophy is storyline-related and cannot be missed. Yu Yevon is the final boss of the game and isn't that difficult of a fight. Defeat him to beat the game and earn this trophy.

Celestial Weapons Guide

This is a supplement to the guide for the trophy Weapon Master. While the trophy only requires you to get all 7 Celestial Weapons, this will also cover where and how to obtain the Crests and Sigils to power them up.

Step 1 - Earn the Celestial Mirror

The first step is to get the Celestial Mirror and this can be done once you reach the Calm Lands. The first order of business is to find the Chocobo Trainer and clear all 4 of her trials so you can ride Chocobo's (see Chocobo License). With that complete head to Remiem Temple and win a Chocobo Race; you don't need to grab any chests, just win to get the Cloudy Mirror.

Once you have the Cloudy Mirror head to Macalania Woods and at the southern exit is a woman and a child. Talk to the woman and she'll tell you that she's supposed to meet her husband but he's not there. Exit to the east two areas then head north to find a man standing around. Talk to him and tell him where his wife and child are. Now return to the wife, talk to her and the husband and they'll tell you their child has ran off. Take the celestial walkway up into the sky and approach the giant onion looking thing and talk to the child. Answer his question to get his parents to come get him. Once they're gone approach the onion and your Cloudy Mirror will turn into the Celestial Mirror.

You need the Celestial Mirror as every Celestial Weapon is locked away and the only way to open the lock is with the Celestial Mirror. From here you can gather the weapons as long as you have access to where they're found. While you don't have to wait, it's much easier to collect them once you have access to the Airship and can get from place to place quickly. Remember where the Celestial Onion is, it's what allows you to power up the Celestial Weapons once you have their crest and sigil.

Tidus - Caladbolg / Ultima Weapon

Tidus's weapon is found on a small path along the northern edge of the Calm Lands. It's usually blocked by a lady in a brown robe; to get her to move you must challenge the Chocobo Trainer to a race and win. Once you win a race this woman will move as she's shocked the trainer lost. Now go down the path and search the symbol on the wall and use the Celestial Mirror to obtain his weapon.

To earn the Sun Crest you must first defeat Yunalesca in Zanarkand. Now before you leave the room, go down the steps at the back. You'll still be in the same area, now go up the stairs to the left. This will put you in the back of the room and there will be a chest. Open the chest to obtain the Sun Crest. If you plan to power up Tidus's weapon, get this before reaching the Airship.

To earn the Sun Sigil you must race against the Chocobo Trainer and win with a time of 0:0:0 (see Chocobo Rider). This can be very difficult as the balloon placement and bird behavior is random. But once you manage to do so she'll give you the Sun Sigil.

Yuna - Nirvana

Yuna's weapon is found at the Monster Arena in the Calm Lands. Once you first reach the Arena, the attendant will ask you to capture one of every fiend in the Calm Lands. Once you do so a chest will appear and once you have the Celestial Mirror you can open it to receive her weapon.

To earn the Moon Crest you need to go back to Besaid Beach (where Tidus first washed up). Go into the water and search the area to the east for a small cove with a chest. Open the chest to obtain the Moon Crest.

To earn the Moon Sigil you'll need to first earn all of Yuna's Aeons (see Summon Master). With that done you'll need to challenge Belgemine in the Remiem Temple and win against all of her Aeons. Once you defeat her Magus Sisters, she'll ask Yuna for a favor. Agree to her request and she'll have over the Moon Sigil.

Wakka - World Champion

Wakka's weapon is found in the bar at Luca. You'll first need to have played and win a few Blitzball games (1 Tournament was enough for me). Go to the bar and speak to the bartender, once the Celestial Mirror resonates agree with the barkeep and you'll obtain his weapon.

To earn the Jupiter Crest you need to go into the right-side locker room in Luca Stadium. There's a row of lockers and you can check the back one to obtain the Jupiter Crest.

To earn the Jupiter Sigil you'll first need to earn all of Wakka's Overdrives (see Blitzball Master). Once that's done you'll be able to win the Jupiter Sigil for being first place in a League series. Play all 10 games and be the best team to obtain the Jupiter Sigil. Remember you can cycle rewards in League series by using the Reset Data in the Blitzball Menu.

Lulu - Onion Knight

Lulu's weapon is found in the water filled arena of Baaj Temple. You reach Baaj Temple by using the Search function on the Airship and searching between X = 11 to 16, Y = 57 to 63 coordinates. Once you can go there jump into the watery area and search around the southwest of the area to find a chest. Use the Celestial Mirror to open the chest and obtain her weapon.

To earn the Venus Crest you need to go to the Farplane in Guadosalam, anytime after seeing the event of Jyscal Guado trying to return. Once you see that event, go back into the Farplace and there's a chest on the left side of the area. Open the chest to obtain the Venus Crest.

To earn the Venus Sigil you need to dodge 200 lightning bolts consecutively on the Thunder Plains (see Lightning Dancer). This can be very difficult but also easy once you get into the groove. First have an armor with "No Encounters" on. Next find a specific crater in the southern half of the Thunder Plains, every time you approach it the game will force lightning to strike. This helps speed up the process but also helps you compensate for the HD lag. Once you've dodge 200 (you have to keep count) go to the Travel Agency and open the chest to claim prizes for your dodging skills. The final prize is the Venus Sigil.

Kimari - Spirit Lance / Longinus

Kimari's weapon is found on the Thunder Plains after praying to three of the Cactuar Stones. The first two stones are in the southern half while the third stone constantly changes in the northern half. Once that's done and you have the Celestial Mirror, go to the southern half and search the east side for a destroyed Thunder Tower. When you find it lightning will strike and a chest will appear, open the chest to obtain his weapon.

To earn the Saturn Crest you need to go to Mount Gagazet, just slightly past the location where you fought Seymour for the third time. Just past there is a narrow hallway type area with stone pillars on both sides of the path. Between a set of pillars on the left side is a chest, open the chest to obtain the Saturn Crest.

To earn the Saturn Sigil you need to play through the game until you have the airship. Then play the butterfly catching game in both parts of Macalania Woods. In two areas you'll be able to see Blue Butterflies and once you touch them, more butterflies and a timer will appear on the screen. You have to run through the area and touch all the Blue Butterflies before time runs out, and then claim the chest item that appears. If you touch a Red Butterfly you get thrown into a battle and lose about 1 second of time. If you touch all Blue Butterflies but leave the area before opening the chest you'll have to do the game again in that area. The Saturn Sigil is in the chest for getting all Blue Butterflies in whichever area you win in for the second time.

Auron - Masamune

Auron's weapon requires a sub-quest first. Go to the area that leads to Yojimbo's Cave but head east and along the path you'll find a sword between two boulders, take this Rusty Sword. Now go to Mushroom Rock Road (not inside the crevice) and move north into a small niche with an elevator rock. Take the elevator up and search the statue of Lord Mihen to place the Rusty Sword in front of it. When that's done a symbol will appear, search the Symbol and use the Celestial Mirror to obtain his weapon.

To earn the Mars Crest you need to go to the far dead-end on the Mihen Oldroad (the same area where a Jecht Sphere is). At the dead-end is a chest and inside it is the Mars Crest.

To earn the Mars Sigil you need to unlock a total of 10 fiends in the Species Conquest and Area Conquest tabs of the Monster Arena. Once that's done, talk to the Monster Arena Attendant and he'll give you the Mars Sigil.

Rikku - Godhand

Rikku's weapon requires access to the Airship first of all. In the airship use the password function to input "GODHAND" to get a new area on the list. Go to this area and search the chest at the back of the area to get her weapon.

To earn the Mercury Crest you need to find and open a chest in the Northern Area of Bikanel Island. The chest is in a small area on the west side and in a sand crater; simply open the chest to obtain the Mercury Crest.

To earn the Mercury Sigil you'll need to clear a long quest on Bikanel Island. Once you have the Airship, go back to the northern area on Bikanel Island and search for a Cactuar Stone to the south of the Cactus Forest. That stone will require you to return 10 spheres to it; this requires finding wayward cactuars, playing a game against them, then returning the spheres to the statue. This is a very long quest and I require having armor with "No Encounters" on to help speed things up. Once you return all 10 spheres, the sandstorm in the Cactus Forest will cease. Go into the forest and check the chests, one will hold the Mercury Sigil.

Monster Arena / Stat Building Guide

This is a guide to help guide you in the Monster Arena, but as well to build your stats to become powerful enough to kill the super bosses without using Yojimbo. These are combined as the Monster Arena has the only enemies where you can fight the enemies that drop stat spheres.

To begin, there are three sections in the Monster Arena which hold Unique Enemies; Species Conquest, Area Conquest, and Original Creation. Each section holds powerful versions of enemies but instead of covering each one, this is more about which ones you'll want to focus on to maximize your stats. For all other enemies please see this detailed guide to the Monster Arena.

While you can do these in any order, I strongly advise farming strength from Juggernaught first.

#1. Juggernaught (Strength Sphere)

This enemy has 1,200,000 HP and can be a pain to deal with as he hits hard. However he only has two attacks; a melee which hits very hard, and a group attack that takes one turn to charge but can be weakened with mind break or nullified with fire resistance. Juggernaut also starts out with armor on and while it can be broken, he's very resistant to it. Ergo to start the fight I advise using Auron's third Overdrive as it applies all breaks to the target with a 100% effectiveness; this lets you apply Mind Break and Armor Break in one go to weaken him. Auron's Celestial Weapon lets him always have first strike, so using that with his Overdrive as an opener lets all turns after capitalize on the enemy. The enemy always spends its first turn charging for its group fire attack; you can nullify this with fire resistance or simply tank it after using Mind Break. The bosses melee attack can be mitigated with a high defense or Break HP Limit, but you can easily spend a turn reviving whoever it knocks down; this is simplified by using Auto-Phoenix.

#2. One-Eye (Magic Defense Sphere)

This enemy has 150,000 HP but is one of the simpler Species Conquest breeds. It only has two attacks, one of which determines if you win or lose; at the same time it's easy to negate by having an Aeon take it. For starters Yuna should never be in your lineup, I advise Auron with his Celestial as it will always give him the first turn of the battle. The enemy has a high chance to get the drop on your party and the enemy will always spend its first turn doing its special attack that hits for decent damage and inflicts various status effects on the party (including slow). To counter this you should always have Auron in the active group, so if the enemy gets the drop on you; you can swap him out for Yuna and let an Aeon take the hit. The other attack is a single target attack that hits for ~10,000 (with basic defense build) and inflicts curse. The enemy is semi-random, but usually alternates between its group attack and its single attack. Be sure you can defend against its status effects because it can make short work of you otherwise.

#3. Tanket (Defense Sphere)

This enemy has 900,000 HP and while it appears simple has a nasty trick that requires it to be dealt with quickly; so I advise only attempting this enemy when your party can hit for 90,000+ routinely. The enemy's two attacks is a single target hit that afflicts the target with Berserk, but also delays their next turn. Its other attack does the same but also raises its own agility to allow it more turns. While the enemy is armored, it can be broken; while it's resistant to Armor Break, you can use Auron's third Overdrive to get a 100% chance to break its armor. Be sure he has his Celestial Weapon so you can open up with the Overdrive. Since this boss hits very hard (easily into the 20,000 range) I advise having Haste on your party and simply beating on it before it has a chance to get any momentum going. If you have Break HP Limit and are able to survive; you can have Berserk-Proof on your armor to counter its attacks, or you can simply ignore the Berserk and use Auto-Phoenix when one of your characters go down. One final note is you do not want to have two characters go down at any time; if one character is left alone the enemy auto-enrages and attacks relentlessly to finish off the third party member.

#4. Hornet (Accuracy Sphere)

This enemy isn't too sturdy with 620,000 HP, but what it lacks in HP it makes up for in Agility and Luck; so it can be very hard to hit without a built accuracy stat. To top it off, most of its attacks give status ailments; one of which also has a high chance of instant-death. While it's not entirely needed, armor with Auto-Phoenix is preferrable as its high agility means you won't be able to get many turns for every turn it takes; add in the instant death attack and it can put you down rather quickly. I'd advise hitting as many as the Agility and Accuracy nodes on the Sphere Grid to get a decent chance to hit this enemy. I also advise having a high strength so when you do hit, it'll be felt and take less turns to take it down. Even if you don't use many status proofing armors, it'd be prudent to at least get Death-proof to save yourself. While it's not much of a deal breaker, you can use Power Break to lessen the physical damage of its attacks as well. This fight can be a bit of a pain, but it also drops the Accuracy Spheres which are very important.

#5. Pteryx (Evasion Sphere)

This isn't isn't difficult like the previous one, and is actually a snap if you've spent time getting Accuracy Spheres and building your stats. This enemy is actually very weak with only 100,000 HP; it makes up for that with a very high Evasion, but that can be rectified by spending time farming Hornet for its Accuracy Spheres. Aside from that the enemy has two attacks; one is a simple melee attack with decent power. Its other attack consists of three melee attacks that can cause Curse on hit and it bypasses and defense offered by the Protect spell. The enemy also has Auto-Regen but that's neglible as it has very low HP. As said before; it can be a pain without a high accuracy but aside from that this enemy is a push over.

#6. Fenrir (Agility Sphere)

Fenrir is difficult because of its insanely high agility and can keep up with your characters even while they're affected by Haste. The enemy itself has 850,000 HP so it can take a beating, on top of that it can also easily evade many regular attacks as well as counter-attacks; so building up your Accuracy first is a must. The enemy has three different attacks, all of which are single target but all hurt. The first is a simple melee attack against its target, the second hits the target for 90% of their HP and affects them with Confuse, while the final attack is instant-death. While it's not a requirement, equipment with Auto-Haste and Auto-Phoenix are in high demand; the enemy is extremely fast and capable of dodging while terminating your party one-by-one.

#7. Jumbo Flan (Magic Sphere)

Jumbo Flan is one of the most frustrating enemies in the Species Conquest. It's completely immune to melee attacks, has a very high defense which can't be broken, is healed by the four main elements, and is under constant-reflect; which means this is a magic only fight where you have to get past its excellent defenses. A precursor to this fight would be to get your Magic Defense very high as this enemy is strictly magical and hits with -GA level spells as well as Flare and Ultima. You can use Shell to reduce the damage as well, but simply having a high Magic Defense is preferred due to the complications of this fight.

To begin this enemy is under constant-reflect and so the only way to hit it is with spells that ignore Reflect, or by having Reflect on one of your party members and bouncing your attacks off them and onto the enemy. Keep in mind that the enemy is healed by elemental spells so your attacks are limited to Flare, Holy, and Ultima. Due to the high cost of these spells, it would also be prudent to have a weapon with a low MP cost attribute on it. Keep in mind that the enemy is also smart and will purposely bounce its own spells off its Reflect, so your character with Reflect on themself will not be safe. One final note about its abilities is it starts the battle with Haste on, but this can be negated by bouncing a Slow spell onto it.

Since this is also the enemy that drops the Magic Sphere, you should be warned to not clear any Magic nodes on the Sphere Grid before you get this enemy behind you. Otherwise you'll be in for a long fight as this enemy has 1,300,000 HP and hitting it for trivial amounts of damage will take a very long time. One final note is when the enemy gets low on HP it will cast Regen on itself, so be sure you have a Dispel ready otherwise you'll be fighting an even worse uphill battle.

There is an alternate method, for those who may have shot themselves in the foot when it comes to a well established Magic stat. The Aeon Anima's Pain ability is a non-elemental, non-reflective, magic attack. You will have to invest time and spheres to power up Anima to make it capable to handle the enemy. While the Aeons do power up as Yuna powers up, it'd be more efficient to put the spheres directly into them. If this is the method you use be sure Anima has; Shell, Haste, Slow, Reflect, A Heal, and Dispel. It's also prudent to invest in Anima's Magic Defense as that's the way the enemy attacks. You should start the battle out by casting Shell, Haste, Reflect, Slow (bounce), and then with your defenses in place use Pain to damage the enemy. If you get low HP use a heal spell, and be sure to use Dispel if the enemy casts Regen on itself.

#8. Iron Giant (HP Sphere)

Ironclad is a very powerful enemy physically, with a high defense and 2,000,000 HP; however there is a trick to defeating him if you've built your characters up to this point. To begin, Ironclad counter-attacks everything with a melee attack; he also has a very powerful single target attack as well as a group attack that also drains MP. All of these hit very hard if you don't have a built defense, but even better is if you have a high (200+) evasion he can rarely hit you at all. His high defense will need to be broken, in which case I'd recommend having Auron as his 3rd Overdrive inflicts all breaks at a 100% effectiveness which can help you defeat him quickly. If your evasion isn't that high I recommend having Auto-Phoenix on your armor so you don't waste turns reviving characters. He's not that powerful once you build your evasion and defense, but before then he can seem like a chore to handle.

#9. Vidatu (MP Sphere)

Vidatu is either a very simple or very difficult enemy, depending on how you built your character. If you don't have high accuracy or strength this fight may be a bit of a problem. Vidatu is a strong magical enemy who has a constant Null-All in effect; so if you're magical your only options are Holy, Flare, and Ultima. He has Auto-Regen, as well as good evasion; however, he only has 95,000 HP. The danger is he routinely casts Ultima and will drain your MP with Osmose. However if your characters have a built strength stat and can hit him, he goes down rather quickly. If you don't have a good accuracy stat you can supplement with an Overdrive as they never miss.

#10. Greater Sphere (Luck Sphere)

Greater Sphere is the only enemy who drops stat increasing spheres but is not in Species Creation; instead it's in the Original Creation section. Greater Sphere has 1,500,000 HP and a continually cycling elemental resistance. It is not immune to physical attacks, but will counter every physical attack with Ultima. If you use an Overdrive against it, it will use it's Physical Press attack which hits the party for 15/16th of a characters Max HP. It doesn't have many attacks, a single target attack that does about 3/8th of a characters HP, but can also use it's Physical Press as a regular attack as well. To fight and win against this enemy your characters should have close to maximum stats as well as armor with Auto-Phoenix. If your Wakka has max strength and his Celestial Weapon you should definitely use Attack Reels to make quick work of this enemy.

#11. Nemesis (Overcoming Nemesis Trophy)

Nemesis is one of the two superbosses in the game and was the most powerful enemy until the International Version came out. Nemesis has 10,000,000 HP and a myriad of attacks that can decimate your party. You should have maximum stats before attempting this fight; you don't need to have high luck, but everything else should be maximized. If you've played the Non-International Version you'll notice some differences as the cooldown time for Quick Hit has been reduced and so you won't be able to Quick Hit him into the ground before he has a chance to attack. He has several attacks which are all powerful and some which inflict status ailments like Curse and Power Break. His most dangerous ability is Armageddon which hits all characters for 99999. You should keep in mind that while Overdrives are useful against him, using them will cause him to counter-attack with Ultima as well. While all this sounds very dangerous, he's actually quite easy since you can use Re-Raise to pick your party back up if he kills anyone. I do advise using Quick Hit to get as many attacks in as possible, and using Wakka's Attack Reels is good as he can easily hit for 1,200,000 if you get three x2 on the Reels. If you fear any attack during his turns, you can also bring Yuna in and have her summon an Aeon to tank an attack if you want to as well. He's not as hard as you may think, you just need to be prepared.

Dark Aeons and Penance

The Dark Aeons and Penance were bosses added to the International Version of the game, all of which are very powerful with Penance taking Nemesis's place as the most powerful enemy in the game. While not immediately accessible, the Dark Aeons appear in select locations once your obtain the Airship. Luckily they can be avoided for the most part, but automatically attack you when you engage their summoner.

All Dark Aeons are extremely powerful and are capable of wiping your party out with minimal effort. They also have many status effects and some abilities which can pierce immunities or re-raise. You should have maximized stats when fighting these enemies as well as a luck stat at 120 or higher.

Dark Valefor

Dark Valefor ambushes you the moment you try to enter Besaid Village; as such it can become a roadblock to anything you may have missed in the village. Valefor has a regular attack as well as uses Energy Ray as a regular attack; Energy Ray being able to hit for 9999. Valefor will use Energ Blast as its Overdrive if it gets a full Overdrive meter so beware of that and either use Re-Raise or have Yuna summon an Aeon to take the hit. Valefor has the lost HP at 800,000 and as long as your stats are maxed, you can use Quick Hit to destroy it before it has a chance to do anything.

Dark Ifrit

Dark Ifrit is available to fight on Bikanel Island, in the northern area is an Al Bhed woman who wants you to look over a cliff area; interacting with this woman will not force you into the fight as you can walk away, but it's still required to fight Dark Ifrit. Dark Ifrit is very powerful physical wise and will counter-attack with a physical hit whenever it takes damage. It can also use Meteor Strike as a regular attack, while its only group attack is its Overdrive attack Hellfire. Dark Ifrit has 1,400,000 HP and will be doing plenty of damage with its counter-attacks so be ready for them. When its Overdrive gets full you can either cast Re-Raise or pull Yuna in to summon an Aeon to tank the hit.

Dark Ixion

Dark Ixion is available by talking to the Bevelle Soldier near the path to the Travel Agency in the northern half of the Thunder Plains. Dark Ixion is also one of the Aeons that need to be killed more than once.

In the first fight Ixion will counter-attack everything you hit it with, but with a maxed evasion you should be able to avoid most of them; note that its physical attack can cause the Sleep ailment. Even with 1,200,000 HP this Aeon is very weak and can be beaten down with Quick Hit giving it no chance to act as well. It will use Aerospark when it has full Overdrive, but even that hits very weak but does hit the character with all breaks.

After Ixion dies the first time, you can use the save point. Now to start the second fight with Ixion, you'll have to be in the northern half of the Thunder Plains and watch where lightning strikes. When the lightning strikes, Dark Ixion will be where it struck and you have some time to encounter Ixion before it disappears.

In the second fight not much has changed aside from Ixion becoming weaker. It not longer counter-attacks everything but its physical attack now does Confuse and Petrify. It has the same amount of HP and simply piling on the Quick Hits will put it down before it has a chance to be a threat.

Dark Shiva

Dark Shiva is encountered by trying to re-enter Macalania Temple and is where the Dark Aeons actually start to pick up in ferocity. Dark Shiva is very fast even with maxed out agility, so she will get plenty of attacks in on you. Her regular attack functions like Quick Hit, her Heavenly Strike hits with a few ailments to include Instant-Death and her Overdrive also cancels out Re-Raise. So when she gets a full Overdrive you need to have Yuna summon an Aeon to tank the hit or risk getting wiped out. She only has 1,100,000 HP and doesn't counter-attack; but she's fast and strong so do not get careless with her.

Dark Bahamut

Dark Bahamut is encountered where you fought Yunalesca in Zanarkand and is one of the more threatening bosses. He comes packed with 4,000,000 HP and only three attacks. One is a regular (but powerful) melee hit, his second is his Overdrive which is only when he has a full meter, his third is Impulse which he counter-attacks with after he receives 5 attacks. His regular melee and Overdrive are powerful of course, his Impulse is where he's dangerous. Not only does it do good damage, it also inflicts Petrify, Slow, All Breaks, and Delay. If you plan to fight him normally you must have Stone-Proof on all characters or risk getting shattered. You should also have Auto-Haste to prevent Slow. You're free to use Re-Raise as none of his attacks cancel it out and so even if you get wiped out by his Overdrive, your characters can pick themselves up.

If you don't want to use Stone-proof armor there is another way to fight him. Have three characters all with Counter-attack on their weapons. Now keep having your characters wait on their turns until Bahamut's turn comes up. When his turn gets close have one character use the Sentinel ability. The character using Sentinel will have increased defense, block his attack, and deliver a counter-attack. This counter-attack doesn't build his Impulse counter. While this is a much safer method, it also takes a much longer time to kill him.

Dark Yojimbo

Dark Yojimbo is encountered when you go to the back of his cave and then try to walk towards the entrance. Dark Yojimbo is the other boss that requires to be defeated more than once, but unlike Ixion he's required to be defeated 5 times to be completely dead. Unlike Ixion again, if you leave his cave without defeating him all 5 times you'll have to start over and defeat him five times. While this sounds difficult he's not that hard of a fight as long as you have maximized stats; thought your HP stat will determine how you should fight him. If you don't have Break HP Limit, you will need to have Protect and Cheer x5 on all your characters to be able to survive a majority of his attacks; otherwise he can wipe you out without using his Overdrive. To note his attack Daigorou does medium damage but also Petrify and Poison, you can use Esuna here. His Kozuka attack inflicts Full Break which must be dispelled. His Wakizashi does a lot of damage and without Protect and Cheer x5 can wipe out characters without Break HP Limit. His Overdrive automatically kills everything and negates Re-Raise, so if he gets a turn with full Overdrive you need Yuna to summon an Aeon to take the hit.

Now when you first encounter him he will ALWAYS get the jump on you; unless you have a weapon with First-Strike. If you don't have Break HP Limit he can wipe you out right here, but it's a 1/3 chance so it's possible to survive. Once that's taken care of you can attack him; when he attacks heal your characters then continue attacking. He only has 1,200,000 HP so he isn't that difficult to put down. Keep in mind you'll have to put him down a total of 5 times and each attempt will have him build Overdrive faster.

Now since you can leave the cave without defeating him five times here's what to remember. You can save between kills, but if you die those attempts don't exist. If you go to the Blitzball Menu you reset it, if you go to the Airship you reset it, if you walk out of the cave without defeating him five times you reset it. So with that in mind I'll point out where to fight him. This can be abused to grind gear that has the Ribbon ability on it.

#1. From the back of the cave, walk towards the cave entrance.

#2. Continue walking towards the cave entrance.

#3. At the T-intersection, head east to the room with the green floor. You have to initiate contact here. This fight is very missable.

#4. Continue walking towards the cave entrance, he'll ambush you in the big room south of the intersection from the third fight.

#5. Continue walking towards the cave entrance, he'll ambush you in the room right where the cave entrance is.

Dark Anima

To encounter Dark Anima you first must go into Mount Gagazet and replay the throwing game with Wakka, this will get Dark Anima to spawn at the base of Mount Gagazet. Even when it's spawned you're required to initiate combat with it. Now Dark Anima is insanely powerful and mean; it comes with 8,000,000 HP, its regular attack can Petrify and its Pain attack is Instant-Death which can pierce Death-Proof. Its Overdrive is also insanely powerful and drains MP with every hit so you must summon an Aeon to take its Overdrive hits. However it still has one move which is horrible and can do at random. Mega Graviton hits your party for 7/16th of their HP and inflicts several ailments; Sleep, Condemn, Silence, Slow, and Darkness. If you do not have the Ribbon ability, your party must have Re-Raise on at all times as if it uses this attack your characters can sleep to death and wipe you out; this is especially true if it uses the attack twice in a row. However if you do have the Ribbon ability you only need to worry about the damage it inflicts. Outside of Mega Graviton and it's Overdrive there isn't anything too worrying about this fight as Anima is very slow and does not counter-attack.

Dark Magus Sisters

To encounter the Dark Magus Sisters, you'll need to go to Mushroom Rock Road and approach the woman and the child standing near the entrance to the crevice on the road. This will have the Dark Magus Sisters appear and you'll be chased into the crevice. Now before you fight them you can run away from them and if you run far enough, you can actually fight them one at a time instead of as a group; fighting them one at a time is highly advised as fighting them as a group is very difficult.

Each sister has their own unique abilities; the Bee sister has an attack where she inflicts various status effects, and an Instant-Death attack. She's the least sturdy with only 2,000,000 HP but also has an insane Evasion stat and requires luck in the 200's to hit her routinely. When fighting alone she uses Mega Graviton as an Overdrive, this does 7/16th of a character HP while inflicting Sleep, Condemn, Silence, Slow, and Darkness. As long as you can hit her regularly she's nothing hard. If you can't hit her use an Overdrive Method like Avenger and user Overdrives to take her out. At the same time be ready to defend against her Mega Graviton.

The Any sister's regular melee attack inflicts Petrify and hits pretty hard at the same time, so Stone-Proof is a must when fighting her single or as a group. Her other attack is a hard-hitting single attack that negates Re-Raise, so be sure you'll be able to revive whoever she takes down with that attack. Her Overdrive when fighting single is Mega Graviton, this does 7/16th of a character HP while inflicting Sleep, Condemn, Silence, Slow, and Darkness. She only has 2,500,000 HP so she's a little more study but is the easiest to take out since she doesn't have high evasion.

The Ladybug sister has a regular melee attack that is nothing special, but has another attack that hits for a lot of damage and drains MP. She's the studiest with 3,000,000 HP but not much else to her. When fighting solo she also uses Mega Graviton as an Overdrive, this does 7/16th of a character HP while inflicting Sleep, Condemn, Silence, Slow, and Darkness. She's much like the Ant Sister, nothing too difficult as she doesn't dodge that well, just watch out for her Overdrive like you would the others.

When fighting them as a group, this is a whole new battle. To start off, they all start with full Overdrive; do what you can damage wise but pull Yuna in and have her summon her own Magus Sisters. It has to be the Magus Sisters as any other Aeon will get taken out and then they'll waste your party when they use Delta Attack. Delta Attack is their Overdrive when all three of them are together and all have full Overdrive. If you insist on fight them like this be wary that even if one of them goes down, you'll still face a double Mega Graviton if the remaining sisters get their Overdrives at the same time. With this in mind, if your luck isn't high enough to take out the Bee you should focus fire the Ant down and then work the next one down from there. Anytime you summon an Aeon you should have them prepared with a full Overdrive so you can do respectable damage while that Aeon's out. Once one of them is down you should attempt to get both to Overdrive at the same time and then summon an Aeon so they both cast Mega Graviton against it and not your party.

Penance

To encounter Penance you'll need to defeat all of the Dark Aeons and then you'll be able to reach him via the list from the Airship. Penance is without a doubt the most powerful enemy in the game, but not how one would expect. He has more HP than any enemy with 12,000,000; but taking that HP down is slow because you'll be constantly destroying his arms which come back and can easily tip the balance of the fight in his favor.

Penance's Left Arm has a strong melee attack, can cast Slowga, and Mega Graviton; this does 7/16th of a character HP while inflicting Sleep, Condemn, Silence, Slow, and Darkness. The Left Arm has 500,000 HP and will continuously respawn until the body dies. Use the time between the arms being destroyed to attack the main body.

Penance's Right Arm has a strong melee attack that also inflicts Petrify, it also has Calamity which inflicts Poison, Darkness, Curse, Silence, and Full Break; the Right Arm can also cast Mighty Guard. The Right Arm has 500,000 HP and will continuously respawn until the body dies. Use the time between the arms being destroyed to attack the main body.

Penance itself has only 2 attacks, which one it uses depends on how much HP it has or if both of its arms are active. From 12,000,000 to 9,000,000 HP Penance will use Obliteration which does ~23,000 to the party and can be cut down by implementing Protect, Def +XX% Armor Abilities, and Cheer. While it's still in line to use Obliteration Penance will also have Auto-Protect; while this can reduce physical damage, Celestial Weapons can ignore the protect and still hit for maximum damage.

Once Penance drops below 9,000,000 HP it will change forms and gain Haste, be sure to dispel that before continuing. Now Penance will be using its attack Immolation which does massive damage, drains all MP to a single target, and affects them with Armor Break and Mental Break. So once you heal that character up you'll need to Dispel the break or they risk dying if they take another hit. One more thing to keep in mind is before he starts using Immolation, you should use a Three Stars on your party so all MP use is reduced to 0; this way they can continue to use skills while having 0 MP.

Now the way to fight him can vary person to person, but the big difference is if you're using Break HP Limit or not. For those who aren't, you will need to have Protect, Def +20%, and Cheer x5 in effect or you won't be able to survive his Immolation technique. Auto-Haste is another important ability to have as Penance is very fast and without Auto-Haste you will start this battle way behind. The armor I personally used for this fight was; Auto-Hate, Auto-Potion, Auto-Protect, Def +20%. My team consisted of Tidus, Wakka, and Rikku. Rikku is important for this build as I used her Overdrive to Mix a Trio of 9999; this combined with Auto-Potion made every potion used automatically heal my characters to full. This made it so I didn't have to waste a turn healing my characters; though I still had to Dispel after being hit with Immolation.

Now to actually fight Penance you'll need to ensure his arms don't get a single turn to attack. Keep in mind they have 500,000 so they take 6 hits to put down. You can get an extra turn or two by hitting them 5 times and then waiting to finish it off before it gets a turn. Keep in mind though that when fighting Penance, you don't want his arms to regenerate near the same time so stagger the time of when you destroy them. Now the most important part of fighting Penance, YOU MUST ALWAYS USE QUICK HIT. If you do not use Quick Hit you won't get as many turns as you should and can fall behind and eventually be wiped out. Quick Hit requires 37 MP per use, this is why you need to use a Three Stars before he starts using Immolate. This fight is very long (averaging ~40 minutes) but actually very easy when you have the right setup. Just don't lose focus and keep at it, he'll go down eventually.

Cloister of Trials Guide

This is a supplemental guide to assist players in obtaining Anima. Since the trials of Baaj Temple requires you to go through each temple and obtain the Destruction Sphere item in each temple, this is a collection of every temple with it's solutions to include the Destruction Sphere item.

Besaid Temple

Walk forward and touch the wall to make a glyph to the right appear. Touch the new glyph to have the wall open up. Go down the stairs to another glyph with a niche below it to learn about the different types of spheres; when that's over a glyph sphere appears in the niche. Take the glyph sphere and go further down the stairs and put the glyph sphere into the door, this opens the door. With the door open take the glyph sphere back, walk a ways into the area and place the glyph sphere in the niche on the left side to open up a new area.

Move further into the area (turn right) and inspect the wall to the right to open up a new area. Head inside the new area and take the besaid sphere from the niche. Across from the besaid sphere area is a niche, put the besaid sphere in that niche to open up a new area; do not go into this area yet. Head back to the area you opened up last with the glyph sphere and grab the destruction sphere. Put the destruction sphere where you grabbed the besaid sphere to destroy a wall in the temple which reveals a chest. Open the chest to claim the item. Now move into the area the besaid sphere opened up and push the pedestal further into the area to finish the temple.

Kilika Temple

At the start of the temple take the Kilika Sphere off the pedestal and put it in the niche next to the door; this sets the doorway on fire so take the sphere back. Go into the next room and put the Kilika Sphere on the niche at the north end of the room, this causes a glyph to appear so take the sphere back and put it on the niche on the right side of the room. Inspect the glyph at the north end of the room to open up a doorway to a new area. Now take the Glyph Sphere off the pedestal and put it in the niche on the left side of the room.

Now go into the new room and touch the blinking light on the floor to summon the pedestal. Take the Kilika Sphere on the right side of the room and place it on the pedestal. Go grab the Glyph Sphere in the previous room and place it in the niche where you got the last Kilika Sphere, this will open up a new room but ignore it for now. Now push the pedestal onto where the blinking light to have that part of the floor lower. Now go downstairs and grab the Kilika Sphere from where the pedestal floor lowered. Place that Kilika Sphere into the niche next to the door across from where the pedestal originally way.

Now go back to the room you opened up with the Glyph Sphere and grab the Destruction Sphere. Place the Destruction Sphere in the niche in the lower area to destroy a part of the wall and reveals a chest. Open the chest to obtain the item, then go to the doorway where you previously put a Kilika Sphere; take the sphere out of the niche and go through the doorway to complete the temple.

Djose Temple

At the start of the temple take the Djose Sphere from each side of the room and place them in each niche in the door to open it. Move into the next room and take the two Djose Spheres on the northern wall and place them into the niches to the right wing of the room to activate the supercharger. Now push the pedestal under the supercharger to charge the Djose Sphere currently on the pedestal. Now take the Charged Djose Sphere and put it in the niche on the northern wall to the right of the middle of the area to open the door to the back.

Now take the two Djose Spheres in the niches of the right wing and place them both on the pedestal. Now move to the left wing and step on the blinking light to move the pedestal back to the middle of the area, now push the pedestal north and into the pit of lightning bolts. Use the suspended pedestal to jump across to the other side and push the statue into a slot before jumping back across the pedestal. Move back to the left wing and step on the blinking light to get the pedestal back into the middle of the room. Now take the Charged Djose Sphere out of the right niche and place it in the left niche. Now take easy Djose Sphere from the Pedestal and put them in the niche on the left and right side niches in the first room; this turns the pedestal area into an elevator, take it to the second floor.

From here move north and push all five pedestals into their nook to open the exit to the temple, but first take the elevator back down to the first floor. Move to the left wing and inspect the glowing wall to get the Destruction Sphere. Go back up to the second floor and place the Destruction Sphere on the pedestal to destroy part of the wall and reveal a chest. Open the chest to claim the item then go up the stairs to finish the temple.

Macalania Temple

At the start of the temple go down the ramp and take the Glyph Sphere from the middle pillar and place it on the pedestal. Now push the pedestal to the right until it stops and then push it north so it goes down a ramp. Go down the ramp and take the Glyph Sphere from the pedestal and place it in the niche on the far left of the area to raise a platform in the upper level. Go to the previous level and take one of the Macalania Spheres from the far left or far right down to the lower level, place the Macalania Sphere on the pedestal and then push the pedestal to the right to activate one of the walkways.

Now go back up to the previous level and grab the other Macalania Sphere that you didn't grab before. Go back down the ramp and place it in the niche in the pillar on the left side. Go back up the ramp now take the Macalania Sphere and place it in the niche one the pillar in the middle to activate the final walkway. Now go up the ramp to where you started and step on the blinking light on the ground to summon the pedestal up to your level. Now take the Macalania Sphere from the pedestal and then push the pedestal down the ramp to have it fly into an ice stalagtite.

Go back down the ramp and place the Macalania Sphere into one of the niches on the right to form the ramp or a ice stalagtite. Take the Macalania Sphere from the middle pillar and place it in the niche you haven't filled yet. Now step on the blinking light to get the pedestal to where you are. Now push it to the right and then north so it goes down the ramp to the lower level. Go down the ramp and take the Destruction Sphere from the pedestal and place it in the niche on the northern side of the wall to reveal the chest. Open the chest and obtain the item. Now replace the Macalania Spheres into the three slots to remake the walkway and use it to exit the temple.

Bevelle Temple

At the start of this temple take the first glyph to the right to go all way down to the bottom level. Once there grab the Bevelle Sphere and put it on the pedestal before going back up to the top level. When you're there go forward and take the first glyph to the right, now take one of the Bevelle Spheres off the pedestal and place it on the niche on the wall. Now get back on the tracks and reach the path across from where you just were. Once you're on that platform grab the Bevelle Sphere and place it on the pedestal. Now get back to the first glyph and turn right to go the middle level.

Once you're on the middle level go down the path and take the right turn at the third glyph on the road. On that platform take a Bevelle Sphere from the pedestal and place it in the niche on the wall before getting back on the road. Now go back down the path and get the right turn on the second glyph. On that platform take the Glyph Sphere from the niche and place it on the pedestal. Now push the pedestal back on the path and take the right turn at the third glyph. On that platform put the Glyph Sphere into the niche in the transparent wall to open up the area behind it.

Grab the Destruction Sphere from the wall niche and place it on the pedestal before pushing the pedestal back on the path. Now take the right turn on the second glyph and place the Destruction Sphere into the niche on the wall to open up a new area. Now push the pedestal back on the path and now take the right turn on the third glyph. On that platform grab the Bevelle Sphere from the niche on the wall and place it on the pedestal before pushing the pedestal back on the path. Now going down the path again take the right turn at the first glyph to reach a small platform.

On this platform push the pedestal onto the next path to reach a higher area. Go up the stairs and step on the blinking light to get the pedestal to your area. Take one of the Bevelle Spheres and place it on the niche on the wall to activate the path to the left. Push the pedestal to the path to the left to claim a chest before the pedestal puts you back. Now approach the chest to automatically claim the item (this is the Destruction Sphere item) and go further down the path to exit the temple.

Zanarkand Temple

At the start of the temple you'll see Tetris symbols on the screen and you should notice the floor is divided into evenly sized squares while some of the squares have a white light in them. You'll need to step on the white lights that's activate the shapes that correspond to the shapes on the screen; if you step on the wrong light every correct light you've stepped on will reset. Once you step on all correct lights the doorway to the bigger room will open. When the door opens you can push four of the six pedestals in the first room into their nook in the wall. Each pedestal corresponds to a different shape set that must be found in the next room. Once you solve that puzzle set you'll need to push another pedestal into their nook until you've completed all 4 pedestal puzzle sets.

When all puzzle sets are completed the rooms darken. Take the Kilika Sphere near the screen in the big room and place it on the pedestal on the left side in the first room. Now take the Besaid Sphere near the screen in the big room and place it on the pedestal on the right side in the first room. This will activate an elevator which leads to a boss fight. You'll have to come back after getting the Airship to get the Destruction Sphere and its item.

When you come back with the Airship you'll see a picture on the screen in the first room with 7 white squares. You'll need to find shapes on the floor in the small and large room. Once you find all the shapes the screen in the first room will disappear to show the Destruction Sphere. Take the Destruction Sphere and place it in the niche to the right of the screen in the big room to reveal the chest. Open the chest to obtain the item.

Ok, the spoiler tag issue should be fixed. The problem is that you used the same spoiler ID for each one ([spoiler=AlBhedPrimers]), which means that only the first spoiler on the page opens up when you click it. Surprised you haven't come across this before, but yeah it happens quite a lot (for example if you click on a spoiler tag in someone's sig at the bottom of a page and they have another post above it, only the spoiler in the first post will open). I've changed the IDs to AlBhedPrimers1 and AlBhedPrimers2 respectively.

Oh, and you also need to remove your signature from each post. I know you're still editing stuff in so this might have been on the "to do" list anyway, but just a quick reminder :)

As for the guide, all I can say is...FINALLY!! :francis: :francis: Just a month to go!

Great place to start though, you get to play one of the great FF games with the added benefit of trophies! Hopefully it convinces you to try the PS1 games too :)
