**GUIDE COMPLETE**

Open Sparring

The focal point of practising and honing your boxing skills. Here, this mode is basically a full round of boxing like you normally would in the ring. Both offence and defence are important here as you score big for counter punching and knocking the opponent down. Key here is box like you normally would, except with a added layer of defence since you don't want to get knocked down and lose points. I used Sugar Ray Robinson to do this. I lead with my jab and from there did 3 or 4 punch combos then backed off and repeat. Hit big punches like hooks and uppercuts to score big.

Maize Bag

This is hard. It took me about 6 attempts to do this and it must be done without a single mistake at all in order to maximise the point multipliers, otherwise you won't get it. I did this with Roy Jones Jr. and got 16,000. The key here is to NOT look at the number of slips needed. Where you need to looks is the space just under the bag. This is because you'll need to time your fighters movement correctly, perform 2 quick slips in succession and punch when needed to. As soon as the bag swings, do 2 quick slips, then the bag will be coming back at you and repeat with 2 slips. When needed to punch, push the Left Stick forward whilst holding L1 then do a quick jab because if you stand upright to punch, you'll lose points. Remember the key here is to not get hit at all by the bag, even when punching

Stay Outside

Use Ali. He is by far the bst at this challenge due to his jab and straight range and the fact you'll most likely face a slow, shorter fighter (I fought Butterbean). When your opponent comes towarda you, use the jab to keep them at bay and follow up with a stright. If you manage to connect, spam the hell out of uppercuts since you get 1000 points for each uppercut landed and if you land alternative uppercuts in a combo (quick succession), you'll get twice as much points. If your opponent keeps coming at you again, back off jab, straight, connect, uppercut.

Get Inside

Use Pacquiao since he's short and has the handspeed and footspeed to lunge inside and get nasty. Hopefully you'll have a weak opponent to spar with here (I had Augustus) since having someone like Hearns is the last thing you want. What to do is when your opponent beings to punch, bob and weave inside your opponents reach, counterpucnh with uppercuts and keep spamming uppercuts, much like Stay Ouside because again, you get 1000 points for each uppercut landed. If you having trouble getting in, do a lunging left body hook (you should hopefully connect) and continue your assualt.

Heavy Bag Push

I recommend personally doing this as Ali since he has a immensely long reach and will be able to hit the bag at will. The tip here do this Champion-style is this - when the red area is at the top half of the bag, keep your distance and use and straights to push the bag down the line. If the bag goes too far, use a lunging left upeprcut to hit it and repeat. When it's in the lower half, use jabs and straights again as you get points for hitting the area, but for me personally, I found using combos of hooks and uppercuts after the jabs would help push the bag down faster, effectively maximising the amount of points I would get.

Close The Show

I did thus as Sugar Ray Robinson but it doesn't really matter as long as you're using a great fighter with good handspeed and KO power. The first 2 times, you'll want to dispatch your opponent ASAP in order to conserve time (which you'll need for the later levels). From Level 3 onwards, the CPU's helath will regenerate from now on so you'll need to stun them before KD'ing them. I recommend using big counter power shots to bring the opponent's health down or possibly even flash KD' ing them. Don't throw aimless punches (otherwise you'll kill your stamina and will be easy pickings to get knocked down), and you'll be fine.

Stay On Your Feet

This is quite annoying since you're stunned and have to survive and should you go down, you'll lose points. You begin the 1st 2 levels stunned badly so when the opponent approaches you, you'll want to push them away and pedal backwards to survive. Regroup and stay extremely defensive because if you get caught, especially this early, you'll go down. Only throw punches when the counter punch window opens otherwise, use jab if you're desperate. Level 3 onwards, you'll have regenerated your health but it won't mean you're ready to go. Stay defensive, time your shots and land them at will. Try and KD your opponent to gain big points

Double End Bag

Hella easy. Just circle around the bag onto the target zone on the floor and land combinations of uppercuts, alternating between left and right, to score huge points. You shouldn't have much problems with this since the timer of the zone's doesn't decrease. Just make sure to hit the targets in a row to gain multipliers, which will enhance your score.

Defensive Specialist

Another quite annoying one since you're susceptible to getting knocked down. What to do is time yor opponents shots, counter punch and once you land it, follow it up with a 4 pucnh combo since throwing combo punches after a counter punch gains points as well. Don't get offensive as you lose points doing so. Be patient and as soon you get the chance to land the big shot, do so with authority and follow up.

Heavy Bag Combo

This is hard. The key here is how effective you are at throwing punches off the stick and the speed and accuracy you're throwing them at. You cannot make a single mistake otherwise you will not get the Champion Rating and you cannot be slow with the combos. I used Roy Jones Jr. to do this and the key to do this is to complete the 1st 4 combos extremely quickly without messing up. From here, you'll be presented with 5+ punch combos. Here on, do the sequences at a moderate pace but do not slow down. The biggest problem I had here was weaving consecutively. If you're also struggling to weave twice, I recommend doing the 1st weave and as soon as the motion finishes, do the 2nd instead of doing both weaves immediately after the other. This is one which will take practice to get better at. If you keep failing don't worry; the combos you'll be doing will be literally the exact same throughtout so hopefully you'd have gotten used to the sequences and will be able to do them flawlessely.

If you don't mind, I would also like to share my tips on getting Champion rating in the training games you haven't covered yet :D

I'm not particularly good at this game, but if even I can get champion ratings using the below methods, that means they're pretty much foolproof :D

Double End Bag - 55,000

Very easy, just move to the zone indicated on the screen and keep doing uppercuts :rssw::rsse::rssw::rsse: it's important to keep that rhythm so that you can maximize the number of punches thrown and get the maximum amount of points. You can probably throw about 8 or 9 punches each time before you have to move to the next zone, so time yourself, when you've thrown 8 punches, get ready to move. Remember you don't have to stand in right in the middle of the zone for the punches to count, as soon as one of your foot steps inside the zone and it's lit up, you can start punching, that would save you a wee bit of time.

Defensive Specialist - 20,000

This one isn't too bad. It's important to keep moving in the ring, move in move out from time to time, block some punches, don't initiate any attack unless you see a chance for counter-punching. An easy way to get 800 points is move in closer to your opponent and bait him to throw a punch, then quickly pull :lsleft: to do a quick step back, you'll evade the punch and get an easy 800 points.

Stay On Your Feet - 35,000

This one gave me the most trouble, I got it through pure luck so I don't have much tips to share. Make the most of Level 1 and 2, go for your opponent and earn some points. At the later stages, don't try to hit your opponent at all, just keep moving, use the space in the ring, listen to your corner, when he says clinch, clinch. When you regain your stamina, keep flicking the left stick to quick step and evade all incoming attacks.

Close The Show - 45,000

I used Isaac Frost for this cos he's a totally overpowered beast. Just unleash your fury upon your opponent, it's as easy as that.

Heavy Bag Push - 35,000

Piss easy, just keep holding :lsright: and throw left hook right hook :rsleft::rsright: non-stop, again it's important to just keep that rhythm going. Press :l1: to punch when the target zone is at the lower half of the bag.

Heavy Bag Combo - 8,000

There's no easy way to do this, you'll just have to get good at pushing them analogue sticks. One thing that would make this training game easier is when the screen tells you to do a :rsnw:, just push  instead, for some reason when I push :rsnw: it would register as a hook instead, and that always mess up my multiplier, perhaps it's just my controller though.

Here are the scoring targets you're missing in your first post.

Open Sparring - 40,000

Stay Ouside - 55,000

Get Inside - 35,000

I'm still trying to complete Get Inside though, it's the toughest one for me, I'm only getting around 1000pts every time!!

None of these were really difficult. Doesn't really warrant a guide but hey its your time.

Care to share how you completed Get Inside? I'm still trying and finally got around 28,000pts, but still not enough for Champion rating.

EDIT: OMFG finally got it, Hamza305 and Defke are right, use Pacquiao and fight Augustus, you'll be put against Hearns most of the time, just quit and try again until you face Augustus, it's SO MUCH easier against him.

Im struggline with the Heavy Bag Combo. Even if i complete the challenge with no mess ups, i still dont get the 8000 i need. When i try and speed it up, i always make a mistake.

edit: got the trophy after around 10 attempts on the heavy combo bag. You need to be very quick on the pad otherwise you will only get 6000

I just found something out. I could not do the heavy bag combo for nothin. Well, I paused it, and went to the controller setup, and you can change it to the button layout for combos. I failed about 15 times using the analogue sticks, but I got it the 2nd time using the button layout.

Here is a pretty major tip that applies to all the training games:

You can use created/edited boxers. In other words you can create a super boxes with a rating of 100 and 20 to every skill. As long as you have reasonable skill this makes all the games much easier. The combination bag is still hard but you do punch and head bob faster which helps.

Surprised no one mentioned or knew about this.

I knew about this but it didn't help much, not for me anyway. I downloaded a user-created Rocky Balboa and edited him so that all his skills and stats are maxed out. Then I used him for the Maize Bag training game, and his movement is still painfully slow compared to someone like Ali. I think the boxers that came with the game will always have an advantage over user-created boxers.

Maize bag.

I usually choose Ali for this.

I found this quite easy when I realised that if you start leaning one way and then once the bag has passed you can lean the other way and back (i.e. two leans) before the bag returns.

If you find that you are on an odd number of leans left, you can quickly flick the Left stick an extra time and perform three leans.

This will transition you to a much easier two lean per bag pass strategy.

When you are asked to punch, wait until the bag is passing and the press square. This will send out a jab and allow the boxer to return to a lean state before the bag returns.

When you get cocky, you can repeat the three lean strategy and rack up loads of points. Two leans + the occaisional three lean will net you the champion rating.

For those of you having troubles with the Maize Bag, heres how I beat it...

Pick the little dood! Go to the lightest weightclass, there is only one guy. Pick him - his head movement is so ridiculous, and he is so short, the bag has a hard time hitting you. I was pulling out 4 head movements in one pass of the bag.
