Introduction

Far Cry 3 is an open world first person shooter that takes place on a group of islands. The game starts on the northern island. To reach the southern island you have to progress in the story. Everything was designed in a very user friendly way that will allow you to find all collectibles and side quests without much help. All the information you need is shown on the world map. In the top right corner of the map are coordinates that will be incorporated in this trophy guide. The fast travel system allows you to move from one important location to another. This feature will save a lot of time on your way to platinum! There are a total of 12 story related trophies and many others will come naturally. The 6 Co-Op trophies are also straight forward and all you need to do is beat each map on any difficulty. There are no difficulty requirements for any trophies, so feel free to start your journey on easy.

Walkthrough

Step 1 - Beating the Story on Easy Difficulty, Combat Trophies

This step is simple. Play through the story on easy difficulty and have fun. Along the way you should try to activate all radio towers to uncover the map completely. This will make the collectible hunt easier later on. Maps for all collectible locations are available at the general store after activating the radio towers. Buy these maps as soon as you can.

Some skills require certain combat actions to be unlocked. Take care of the following requirements:

  • Press :cross: to jump onto an enemy below and kill him - Death from Above skill required (x1)
  • Click :r3: to kill an enemy above on a climbable ledge - Death from Below skill required (x1)
  • Liberate outpost without being detected (x2)

Also watch out for Never Saw it Coming. This trophy is quite tricky if you do not do it during one of the main story missions. Please check out the trophy explanation in the guide below. A good place to get this early is in the 6th mission "The Medusa's Call".

Note:

After the latest patch there are no more missable trophies because you can now reset outposts. To reset outposts you need to pause the game and go to options > gameplay > reset outposts. This will allow you to farm kills for certain skills and trophies even after beating the story.

Step 2 - Collectibles, Side Quests, Skills, Miscellaneous Trophies

After the story is over you will enter free roam mode and get the chance to complete all the things that you didn't do earlier.

Complete all the remaining miscellaneous / combat related trophies while capturing the outposts.

After activating all radio towers, get the collectible maps from the general store and collect 60 relics, 20 letters and 20 memory cards.

Most of the side quests can be ignored. Play at least one quest of each type and complete 3 "Supply Drop" & 3 "Wanted Dead" quests to unlock the "Adrenaline Surge" & "Deadmaker" skills.

After this is done you should be able to buy all skills. If you should still need XP you can keep doing side quests.

Collectibles

lost-letter.png = Lost Letter - Collect 20

memory-card.png = Memory Card - Collect 20

relic.png = Relic - Collect 60

outpost.png = Outpost - Liberate 34

radio-tower.png = Radio Tower - Activate 9 (18 recommended to uncover map)

Side Quests & Activities

path-of-the-hunter.png = Path of the Hunter - Complete 1

trial-of-the-rakyat.png = Trial of the Rakyat - Complete 1, beat preset score

wanted-dead.png = Wanted Dead - Complete 3

supply-drop.png = Supply Drop - Complete 3

poker.png = Poker - Win $1500

Step 3 - Co-Op

Now that you know how the game works it's time to beat all of the six co-op maps. This can be done online or offline. You get one trophy for each map that you complete.

All of the co-op trophies are glitched! If you have trouble unlocking them, simply replay the map(s) in a private match with a friend and make sure that you are host. If none of that works, delete all the install data and save data connected with this game from your console and do the missions in offline splitscreen.

When encountering connection problems in co-op it can help to add everyone to your Party.

Obtain all the Trophies.

Collect all the other 50 trophies to obtain Platinum.

DAB.jpg Free Fall trophy_bronze.png

Freefall more than 100m and live (Single Player only).

Go to the coordinates X: 442.4, Y: 651.1. In the top right corner of your map, the coordinates are shown. There is a Glider on a high mountain. It's almost on the top so you will need to climb your way up. After reaching the yellow Glider you need to press :square: to use it. Do not not steer while you are in the air! Keep gliding until you reach the ocean. Once you are over the ocean press :square: to exit the Glider. You will then fall into the water and unlock the trophy.

Some players have reported problems with getting the Glider to spawn. If this is the case for you, then kill yourself a couple of times until it appears.

Here is an alternative method at coordinates X: 498.0, Y: 794,8 where you can jump down a massive hole in the ground:

Spoiler

477.jpg Inked Up trophy_bronze.png

Earn 5 skill tattoos.

You have to buy 5 different skills for this trophy. Each skill will give you a new tattoo. One skill point is awarded each time you reach a new XP level. Complete story missions, side quests, find collectibles and kill enemies to earn XP. New skills can be bought in the pause menu.

238.jpg Fully Inked trophy_gold.png

Earn every tattoo by learning all the skills.

There are a total of 54 different skills to learn. They are divided into 3 skill trees: The Heron, The Shark and The Spider. You have to get XP to earn skill points. XP can quickly be obtained by completing story missions, side quests, finding collectibles and killing enemies. When completing all these activities you will automatically get more than enough XP to buy everything. There is no need to farm XP!

Take care of the following things as early as possible:

  • Press :cross: to jump onto an enemy below and kill him - Death from Above skill required (x1)
  • Click :r3: to kill an enemy above on a climbable ledge - Death from Below skill required (x1)
  • Liberate outpost without being detected (x2)

After downloading the latest patch you can also reset outposts. So this trophy is no longer missable and you can farm kills after beating the story.

041.jpg Money to Burn trophy_bronze.png

Spend $5000 at the shop.

A shop can be found at every fast travel location. You have to spend a total of $5000 by buying ammo, weapons, attachments or paint jobs. This can be done during the course of the story. You do not have to spend all the money at once. Loot dead bodies and chests for quick money.

6AF.jpg Aftermarket Junkie trophy_bronze.png

Buy all attachments and paint jobs for one weapon.

This works really well with your starting weapon, the 1911 pistol. This firearm has no attachments, just 6 paint jobs that cost $200 each. A total of $1200 is required! While accessing a shop choose to customize this weapon and press :r1:. This will bring you to the paint job selection. Buy all available paint jobs and this trophy is yours.

DE0.jpg Rebel With a Cause trophy_bronze.png

Liberate 3 outposts.

See Island Liberator.

848.jpg Island Liberator trophy_silver.png

Liberate all outposts.

Outposts are similar to collectibles. They are shown with a outpost.png  symbol on your world map.

There are 34 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu. To liberate an outpost you have to kill all its guards.

3BB.jpg Unheard trophy_bronze.png

Liberate an outpost without triggering an alarm.

There are a total of 34 Outposts. You can liberate any of these outposts without triggering an alarm. Search for the alarm switch in an Outpost and disable it by pressing :square:. Now you just need to kill the remaining enemies. It does not matter if the enemies see you or not. They are just not allowed to ring the alarm. If you hear the loud alarm then kill yourself and you should respawn somewhere near the Outpost and can try it again. After downloading the latest patch you can also reset outposts.

643.jpg Full Bars trophy_silver.png

Activate 9 radio towers.

Radio Towers are similar to collectibles. They are shown with a radio-tower.png symbol on your world map.

There are 18 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu. While only 9 out of 18 are required for this particular trophy, it's highly recommended to activate all of them as soon as possible. This will uncover the map which makes it easier to navigate through the world. It will also allow you to find the other collectibles more easily.

Should you get stuck at one of the towers you can find a guide here: Radio Tower Guide.

617.jpg Archeology 101 trophy_silver.png

Gather a total of 60 relics.

Relics are typical collectibles in Far Cry 3. They are shown with a relic.png symbol on your world map.

There are 120 of them in total. Only 60 are required for this trophy and there is no need to collect the rest. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu.

To reveal all their locations you must activate all of the radio towers and buy the item maps from a shop. All maps together cost $4000. Once the maps are bought you can zoom in on your in-game world map and see the exact locations.

98E.jpg Dead Letters trophy_silver.png

Gather all "Letters of the Lost".

Lost Letters are typical collectibles in Far Cry 3. They are shown with a lost-letter.png symbol on your world map. There are 20 of them in total. You can keep track of your progress in the Handbook tab of the pause menu.

To reveal all their locations you must activate all of the radio towers and buy the item maps from a shop. All maps together cost $4000. Once the maps are bought you can zoom in on your in-game world map and see the exact locations.

92F.jpg Memory to Spare trophy_silver.png

Gather all the memory cards.

Memory Cards are typical collectibles in Far Cry 3. They are shown with a memory-card.png symbol on your world map.

7FC.jpg Jungle Journal trophy_silver.png

Unlock 50 entries in the Survivor Guide.

This will unlock automatically while playing through the story. You unlock entries for pretty much everything you see and everyone you meet. This includes people, factions, locations, weapons, vehicles, wildlife and plants. The Survival Guide can be found in the pause menu when you go to the handbook section. There you can keep track of all the things you have discovered.

807.jpg Bagged and Tagged trophy_bronze.png

Complete a Path of the Hunter quest.

Path of the Hunter is a series of side quests. These quests become available after liberating outposts. They are shown with a path-of-the-hunter.png symbol on your world map. Successfully complete one single of these quests to unlock the trophy. Your objective is to hunt and skin animals with certain weapons.

A2E.jpg Road Trip trophy_bronze.png

Complete a Supply Drop quest.

Supply Drop is a series of side quests. These quests become available after activating radio towers. They are shown with asupply-drop.png symbol on your world map. Successfully complete one single of these quests to unlock the trophy. Your objective is to drive through some checkpoints with a certain vehicle. Your time is limited.

929.jpg In Cold Blood trophy_bronze.png

Complete a WANTED Dead quest.

Wanted Dead is a series of side quests. These quests become available after liberating outposts. They are shown with a wanted-dead.png symbol on your world map. Successfully complete one single of these quests to unlock the trophy. Your objective is to kill a person with a certain takedown.

788.jpg Let the Trials Begin trophy_bronze.png

Beat any Trial of the Rakyat score.

Trial of the Rakyat is a series of side quests. These quests are scattered all over the islands and start at huge red stones. They are shown with a trial-of-the-rakyat.png symbol on your world map. Successfully complete one single of these quests to unlock the trophy.

Your objective is to kill as many enemies as possible with the provided weapons. Headshots and stealth kills usually give good points. Also pick up the blue time bonuses if you can. The scores are all preset and for the trophy it's enough if you beat the lowest score.

E55.jpg Poker Bully trophy_silver.png

Win $1500 playing poker.

Poker games are shown on the map with a poker.png symbol. There are 4 difficulties. The higher the difficulty, the higher the earnings:

Practice = $0 wager, $0 maximum earnings

Novice = $100 wager, $300 maximum earnings

Skilled = $150 wager, $450 maximum earnings

Expert = $250 wager, $750 maximum earnings

Before playing a game of Poker you should save your game. Then play on Expert difficulty, go All-In and if you win you save your game again. If you lose you reload your last save game and repeat.

The easiest way to get this is by doing the Father's Burden quest in Thurston Town. Just go all in on each hand.

In the statistics you can keep track of how much money you have earned from poker in total. To access the statistics open the pause menu > handbook > press :square: > world > total poker winnings.

A92.jpg Hunter Hunted trophy_bronze.png

Lure and kill a predator.

Common predators in Far Cry 3 are Crocodiles, Sharks, Tigers, Leopards, Komodos etc. Most animals are shown on your map when you zoom in. Look for the symbol of one of these animals and go to that area. Keep running around until you are attacked by a predator and kill it. Crocodiles are not displayed on the map, but they can be found in most rivers. You can either shoot the animal while it's chasing you or stab it while it's latched onto you.

FE7.jpg Poacher trophy_bronze.png

Hunt and skin a rare animal.

Rare animals can be found during "Path of the Hunter" quests. To play these quests you need to liberate Outposts. The spawn area of the animals will be shown during the quests. You can see a red "Rare" stamp on the hunter posters if the quest features rare animals.

One of these quests can be started at the coordinates X: 428.9, Y: 694.3 (see to right corner of the world map).

51C.jpg Artsy Craftsy trophy_bronze.png

Craft 5 upgrades for your equipment.

In the pause menu you need to open the crafting tab and there you can put together different equipment upgrades. For example: weapon holsters, wallets, loot rucksacks. You need to skin animals to craft new equipment. The required type of animal skin is displayed below the equipment piece. When zooming in on your world map you are able to see symbols that show possible spawn areas of animals.

08E.jpg Needle Exchange trophy_bronze.png

Craft 25 syringes.

Syringes can be crafted by accessing the "Craft" section in the pause menu. Plants are needed to make the final product. Plants grow everywhere in the wilderness and are displayed on the HUD when you are close to them. The most common syringes are Medicine (2 x green leaf), Animal Repellent (2 x yellow leaf) and Enhanced Perception (x2 crimson leaf). There's also a skill called "Horticulture 101" that allows you to harvest two leaves from each plant instead of just one.

AA8.jpg The Good Stuff trophy_bronze.png

Craft a special syringe.

Special syringes are unlocked by collecting relics. See Archeology 101 for more information on how to find relics. After 30 relics have been found you unlock the first special syringe recipe "Untouchable". To craft it you need 2 white, 5 green and 5 blue leaves.

00F.jpg Say Hi to the Internet trophy_bronze.png

Find the lost Hollywood star.

The lost Hollywood star can be found at the coordinates X: 619.7, Y: 559.4 (see top right corner of the world map). This is at the beach of one of the northern islands. You can go there shortly after the game starts. Stay at the beach and look for two dead people that are hanging on a tree. There is a man buried in the sand and you can only see his head. Go to the buried man and press :square:.

34E.jpg Heartless Pyro trophy_bronze.png

Kill 50 enemies with the flamethrower (Single Player only).

The flamethrower can be equipped at any shop. You can either buy it for money, or activate radio towers to get it for free. Keep it in your inventory for several missions and try to kill as many enemies as possible with it. The enemies have to die by the fire from the flamethrower.

3CD.jpg Love the Boom trophy_bronze.png

Kill 4 enemies simultaneously with one explosion (Single Player only).

Get an explosive weapon from a weapon locker or general store. The RPG-7 rocket launcher works best. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. Now go to the Welshore Wrecker's House Outpost (coordinates X: 437.9, Y: 795.0) and make some noise until the enemies activate the alarm. Wait for the reinforcement Jeeps to arrive, but keep at least one Outpost guard alive. In the second Jeep (the one without the turret) is usually 4 soldiers. Shoot this vehicle with your rocket launcher before the soldiers get out. Alternatively you can also plant some C4 and group up some enemies, then blow it up. If it doesn't work on your first try simply get yourself killed and you should respawn somewhere around the Outpost and can try it again. Just don't kill the last Outpost guard before getting the trophy.

EB4.jpg Rock Always Wins trophy_bronze.png

Fully distract 25 enemies with rocks (Single Player only).

You can throw stones by pressing :right:. The enemy will be fully distracted when he walks to the location where the stone landed. Do this to 25 different enemies. This trophy should come naturally while playing through the main story because there are some stealth missions where you are not allowed to get detected. Throwing stones makes it easy to sneak past enemies. You can also farm the 25 distractions at outposts. After liberating all outposts there are still enemies at the coordinates X: 412.4, Y: 729.5. Some people have reported that they needed much more than 25 distractions. Don't worry, the trophy is not bugged. Just keep distracting enemies and it will unlock sooner or later.

E2C.jpg Never Saw it Coming trophy_bronze.png

Kill an enemy with a takedown from above from a glider, zipline or parachute (Single Player only).

First of all you will have to buy the "Death from Above" skill in the Heron skill tree. This will allow you to perform a stealth takedown when jumping on enemies. Jumping down while using a zipline is the easiest way. The glider or parachute methods are rather tricky and unpredictable. Ziplines can be found during many main story missions, but are rarely found near enemies in the open world. The earliest chance to get this during the story is in the 6th mission "The Medusa's Call".

No matter where you do it, the strategy is always the same: throw some stones to lure nearby guards under the zipline. Use the zipline when the guards are in place and detach when you are above them. The kill will then be performed automatically, no additional buttons need to be pressed. If you've completed the story then start a new game and do it in the "Medusa's Call" mission.

8DC.jpg Improper Use trophy_bronze.png

Kill an enemy with the Repair Tool (Single Player only).

First of all, you will need to get the Repair Tool from a weapon locker or general store. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. At the general store it can be found in the section for "Special" objects. Once you have the Repair tool equipped, search for some enemies near an Outpost or play one of the side- or main missions. Get close to an enemy and burn him for 2-3 seconds with the Repair Tool from close range.

124.jpg Toxophilite trophy_bronze.png

Kill a target from 70m or more with the bow (Single Player only).

First of all you will need to get the Recurve Bow from a weapon locker or general store. You can either buy it or activate radio towers to get it for free. Also buy and equip the Markman Sight. It's a very useful attachment for long range shots. Now search for some enemies and put a marker on their location on the world map. Walk away until the marker shows a distance of 70+ meters and take the shot while the enemy is standing still. The Welshore Wrecker's House Outpost (coordinates X: 437.9, Y: 795.0) is near the starting area of the game and one of the best locations to get this done early.

8A6.jpg Island Paparazzi trophy_bronze.png

Tag 25 enemies using the camera (Single Player only).

The camera can be equipped by pressing . You will have the camera from the beginning. This will allow you to track the movement of enemies. If there is an enemy in sight of the camera he will be tagged immediately. You will know that an enemy was tagged if he has an orange symbol above his head. You will even be able to see their movements through walls.

32F.jpg Fearless or Stupid trophy_bronze.png

Dive more than 60m (Single Player only).

Search for a dark blue part of the ocean on your map (e.g. at the coordinates X: 709.1, Y: 835.6). These are the deepest parts of the ocean. You need to activate radio towers to uncover the map. After reaching such a point in the ocean you need to dive down until you hit the ground. Click the left stick to swim faster.

I'm happy that I can present you another early in-depth trophy guide :)

Have fun with this beautiful game and feel free to leave your questions in this thread. I'll try to write back whenever I can.

Looks great, I'm excited to pick it up Tuesday and play it here in the US. Kind of crazy you already have a bunch of videos and a really well written guide a few days before the US release But anyway, Kudos to a pretty in depth guide. And thanks for the help in advance.

Fantastic, thanks for getting it up so quick

Slightly disappointed in the trophy list, for such a good game I wish it had a max difficulty gold. They also toned it down on the collectables and co-op which is a shame, would have hoped to see a 7-8 difficulty rating for a game like this.

I even quite like the MP I wouldn't have minded a get to level X trophy.

Great guide!

One question:

Only 60 relics are required for the according trophy, do we get some special bonus for collecting all 120?

Nope, no bonuses.

While collecting the first 60 you will get 2 signature weapons (these are very powerful, unique weapons) and two recipes for special syringes. After collecting 60 there are no other bonuses. No point in collecting all of them.

Are all the coop available off the bat?? If I wanna jump straight into that with a friend would it let me????

Absolutely :D

There is a co-op and story section in the main menu. You can start co-op right away.

And thanks for all your feedback guys :)

While collecting the first 60 you will get 2 signature weapons (these are very powerful, unique weapons) and two recipes for special syringes. After collecting 60 there are no other bonuses. No point in collecting all of them.

Bummer! Thank you for the info.

(somebody should sticky this guide :D)

Hey power, awesome guide, and great vids for the visuals.

I've got a question though regarding fully inked. Do you have to perform, 1 death from above and below, and 2 silent outpost take overs in order to get all the skills unlocked? I'm a bit confused:(

Unfortunately yes, that's exactly what you need to do.

1 kill from above

1 kill from below

2 outposts liberated without being detected

Especially the thing with the two outposts is missable. If you liberated all of them then there is no way to get this done. It's pretty easy though. Mark the enemies with the camera and kill them with a silenced sniper rifle. There are just 4 or 5 guards in each outpost, so that's no big deal.

The kills from above and below are actually more tricky. That's why I recommend to do them during the story missions. You could also get this in the open world, while capturing outposts or while doing "Wanted Dead" side quests. That also works, but it's harder.

Play through on Easy? Seriously? If there are no trophies for difficulty and only 1 playthrough is needed then i would play through it normal myself. Like i did with Dantes Inferno. Especially if i bought it at full price at launch. Different strokes and each to his own and all that but I still dont understand why certain trophy nuts buy a full price game and then try and get through it as fast as possible using guides and videos for things on their first playthrough.

In effect its paying £40 or $60 for a few pixels on the screen a'la the trophies. As i said, to each his own obviously and im not slagging off anybody that does do that, truly im not, im just saying i dont get it thats all.

I much prefer to get my moneys worth on games myself. Trophies are just a nice addition that are cool to collect and go for 100% completion after i go for 100% completion in game. But, thats just me and the way i do it.

On another note, AWESOME speed getting the guide up so fast Powerpyx.

Thanks for the guide! Never would've guessed how I might get that Takedown from above.

But...Gaaaahh...that damn Poker trophy!

I'm a real bad Poker player myself. Learned the Texas Hold'em rules while playing Red Dead Redemption and Poker Night at the Inventory, but never got good at it. Too many variables to consider for my taste.

How will I ever get $ 1,500 from this? :(

Because the rest of the trophies are pretty easy.
