Introduction:

The Ravagers are here to take over the Earth and it's up to you, The Earth Defense Force, to stop them! There isn't anything miraculous about this game. You take on horde upon horde of ants, spiders, wasps, mantis, ticks and robots all in an effort to save the world. This is the absolute best co-op game I've ever played. You're given the ability to find over 300 weapons, including one called the "Pesticide" gun that essentially acts like a nuke. When is nuking bugs not fun!? It offers a 3-player co-op Campaign mode and up to 6-player co-op Survival mode. The campaign mode consists of 3 Chapters, each with 5 missions. Survival mode is just that, survive wave after wave of bug hordes until you just can't take it anymore, or you die. The game itself is not difficult and becomes easier as you collect more weapons and upgrade your armor classes however grinding to reach the top level xp for each armor class will be very time consuming. It's a good thing that kicking bug ass with friends is so much fun!

Roadmap

*Please be aware that difficulty trophies DO NOT stack. You will therefore need to play all 3 difficulty levels to reach platinum. The following steps are the most efficient way of obtaining all of the trophies.

Step One: Story Mode - Normal

It is highly recommended that you begin your game on normal difficulty. Not only will you need many playthroughs to achieve your kill trophies but you'll also upgrade your weapons/armor making your hard and inferno playthrough a bit easier. There are three Chapters in the game; each with 5 missions. In this playthrough you are guaranteed the following trophies: Hectorcide, Regicide, Patricide, Manticide, Lemon Squeezy; along with any kill/destruction trophies you achieve. It is also recommended that you stick with the same armor class throughout this playthrough so that you can fully upgrade it as soon as possible. If you beat Normal difficulty and haven't hit the Level 5 xp cap then keep grinding until you do. Don't start Hard difficulty until you hit Level 5 so that your Hard playthrough is easier.

All four armor classes must be fully upgraded for the Lifer trophy. There are 8 levels of xp to attain and you are capped out on the level you can reach depending on what difficulty you're playing on. You can only go as high as Level 5 xp in Normal difficulty, Level 7 xp in Hard and then Level 8 xp in Inferno. Therefore, you'll need to run through Hard and Inferno with this same armor class to fully upgrade to Level 8.

Step Two: Story Mode - Hard

Start your hard playthrough once you have finished normal, keeping your same armor class. It is highly recommended that you don't start Hard until you've reached Level 5 with an armor class. Continue getting all of those kills and upgrading those weapons. It's all in preparation for the beast that is Inferno. You should achieve Chopper's Choice along with any other kill/destruction trophies. You can only reach Level 7 xp in Hard difficulty and it is recommended that you grind to it if you aren't there by the time you finish Hard to make your Inferno playthrough easier.

Step Three: Story Mode - Inferno

Now you can tackle Inferno! The enemies are much much harder to kill in this mode but by this time you should have at least a level 7 armor class with Tier 7 weapons. The weapon upgrades you've received in previous playthroughs are a must. You'll also be striving towards upgrading your armor class to Level 8 as this Level is only attainable in Inferno difficulty. See Infernal Master Destroyer Deluxe for tips. Note that once you hit Level 8 you receive the Pesiticide gun for that class which is basically a nuke!

Step Four: Repeat Steps 1-3 with the different armor classes

Once you have completed your first playthroughs of story mode on all 3 difficulties with one armor class you'll need to repeat the steps for the next 3 classes. You don't necessarily need to play through the entire game with each armor class. If you'd rather grind out your xp points on Chapter 1 of Inferno difficulty (or any Chapter/Mission you'd like) then you can. You simply need to get all 4 armor classes to Level 8 for the Lifer trophy.

Step Five: Survival Mode

Survival mode consists of surviving wave upon wave of alien insects. You need to reach wave 5 for the Good Start trophy (see trophy in guide for details on each map and wave.) You'll need to play through a total of 500 waves of Survival mode. These could technically be Wave 1 repeated 500 times; though that could get incredibly boring. You also need to accumulate a total of 10,000 kills in Survival mode. Achieving these kills should be no problem considering how many waves you need to complete anyway.

Step Six: Mop Up/Grind

If by this time you've finished your story mode playthroughs AND 500 waves of survival mode only to find you still need kills etc then you can finish that up here. Grinding in survival mode or in certain parts of story mode is recommended. See the respective trophy you may be missing for information/tips on grinding.

Kill 10000 Ants

Good start!

Ants are the first standard enemy you encounter. They are the easiest to kill and are always plentiful. Accumulate a total of 10,000 ant kills across all playthroughs and modes. You earn these kills in both the story mode and survival mode. One playthrough of story mode will net you approximately 1000 kills.

Grind spot:

Go to Mission 4 in Chapter 3. You'll want to play offline by yourself to maximize the amount of kills you receive. There are two major fights in this mission. The first fight pits you against ants, spiders and 3 small hectors. Defeat them and progress. When you get to the boss battle don't kill her. An infinite amount of ants, spiders and wasps will spawn. Kill as many as you want before finally finishing off the boss. When playing solo with the two AI partners be aware that they will eventually kill the boss on their own ending your kill grind.

Additionally any of the maps in survival mode offer a great way to rack up kills. See Good Start for details on where certain enemies are located and in what map/wave.

Make it through 5 Survival Mode Waves in one session

Five Alive

Survive to wave 5 in Survival mode. You don't have to complete wave 5, only get to it. The only available armor class for Survival mode is the Trooper. You're also given a certain set of weapons. You DO NOT earn xp in survival mode and you don't get weapon drops in survival mode. You're given a total of 3 revives. The waves get progressively harder as you go with a variety of different bugs present and more in number. As you progress through the waves you're awarded more available revives. Attempting this solo is almost impossible. Although it will say in the top left corner that you have 3 lives; you really don't. With no one there to revive you, if you go down, you lose. So having strong boosting partners to assist with this is a must. To find a boosting partner visit this thread: Boosting Thread. There are 6 available maps for Survival mode. They are below along with information regarding each wave:

1: Cornerstone

Level info: there is a turret available for use on this map

Difficulty assessment: Moderate

  • Wave 1: Ants only. Easy peezy!
  • Wave 2: Ants and Ticks. The ticks are the hardest part in this wave. There are so many of them and they swarm you. Utilize the turret.
  • Wave 3: Spiders and Ticks. Again the ticks are the biggest pain but there aren't nearly as many of them as in Wave 2. Utilize that turret and take them all out.
  • Wave 4: Ants, Spiders, Ticks and 2 Small Hectors
  • Wave 5: Ticks only. You're also given an extra life at the beginning of this level.
  • Wave 6: Ants, Spiders, 1 Bomber Spider, Ticks and 4 Small Hectors. You're given two extra turrets at the beginning of this level and health/armor crates.

2: Shallow Grave

Level info: No vehicles or turrets at the beginning of level.

Difficulty Assessment: Hard

  • Wave 1: Ants only
  • Wave 2: Spiders only
  • Wave 3: Spiders and Ticks
  • Wave 4: Ants, Wasps and Ticks
  • Wave 5: 1 Bomber Spider, Mechanical Ants, Mechanical Spiders, Wasps, Ticks

3: Pain Garden

Arachnocidal maniac!

The spiders are another standard enemy. You encounter them early on in the game and deal with them throughout. Accumulate a total of 10,000 spider kills across your playthroughs and modes. You earn these kills in both the story mode and survival mode.

You earn these kills in both the story mode and survival mode.

Hector Who?

Hectors are smaller and more common version of the Hector units with the larger ones being experienced later in the game. The first time you'll encounter one of these is in Chapter 1-1 and it shouldn't pose too much of a challenge. They will fire rapid-fire pulse rounds at you and plasma balls as well as try to run you over, but the fights against these shouldn't be too difficult. Their weak point is at their chest where it is glowing red.

Kill 100 Wasps

Get out of my yard!

Wasps are typically deployed in conjunction with gunships. They are a bit difficult to kill due to the fact that they move constantly. Equip a missile launcher that has an autolock ability to make these kills easier. Accumulate a total of 100 wasp kills across your playthroughs and modes. You earn these kills in both the story mode and survival mode.

Grind spots:

Go to Mission 4 in Chapter 3. You'll want to play offline by yourself to maximize the amount of kills you receive. There are two major fights in this mission. Kill as many as you want before finally finishing off the boss. When playing solo with the two AI partners be aware that they will eventually kill the boss on their own ending your kill grind.

Chapter 3 Mission 1 has another excellent spot to grind these kills if need be. You'll come to a fight where turrets are provided and two carriers arrive. The carriers will deploy gunships and along with the gunships, wasps arrive. Approximately 10 show up during this battle.

Additionally any of the maps in survival mode offer a great way to rack up kills. See Good Start for details on where certain enemies are located and in what map/wave.

Destroy 10000 Gunships

Bet you died a lot doing this...

Gunships are the smaller aircraft that fly around and occasionally hover to fire a direct beam at you. They are fast and difficult to hit, but if you lead your shots right or hit them when they do stop to hover they are easy to kill with one or two hits. Missile launchers are great against these enemies because most of them have an autolock feature. Getting 10,000 Gunship kills will take a few playthroughs to get, but isn't difficult to do so much as it is a long grind. Gunships will appear at random and at times drop from Carriers.

Any of the maps in survival mode offer a great way to rack up kills. See Good Start for details on where certain enemies are located and in what map/wave.

Additionally:

Found a fantastic location to grind this one (and points in general). In Chapter 3, Mission 1, the counter-attack is basically giant carriers (amount depends on difficulty) that spawn tons of gunships and are easy to destroy. There are a few ants and wasps at first, but once those are out of the way, it's just hundreds of gunships. I killed about 800 in about 15 minutes of grinding!

They drop a TON of health as well, so dying shouldn't be anything to fear.

Destroy 100 Carriers

Mayday! Mayday!

Carriers are the aircrafts that stay stationary in the sky and drop down Gunships. Destroy them by shooting the 2-4 red deployment bays that the Gunships come from or by shooting the red circle in the rear of the ship. There are only about 10 carriers in the whole campaign so this will take some grinding. The red circle in the back of the ship is only vulnerable when the deployment bays are opened up. The are carriers like the own shown in the photo and there are larger ones that have 4 deployment bays (not shown in photo).

Grind Spot:

There are 2 carriers right at the beginning of Mission 1 in Chapter 2. You don't have to finish the mission to get credit for the kills. You can take out the two carriers, allow yourself to die and then just restart the level. Waiting to do this on normal with a Level 7 armor set is best as you'll shoot down the carriers very quickly.

Destroy 100 Anthills/Spider Nests

Hit'em where they live!

You destroy anthills/nest by going up to it and pressing/holding :triangle: to set a charge. You should have 100 destroyed by the end of your three story playthroughs. If not grind them out on either Chapter 1, Mission 1 where there are at least 2 anthills or Chapter 3, Mission 1 where there are 4+ anthills. Additionally, at the end of Mission 4 on Chapter 3 there are 4 anthills that can be destroyed.

Tips on destroying them:

Anthills/Spider Nests can be destroyed in phases. Essentially when you approach a nest it will have the appearance of a small mountain with a circular top. Ants/Spiders will continue to pour out of the hill/nest when it is like this. You'll want to continually shoot at the nest/hill to suppress the flow of ants/spiders. When it is completely suppressed it will have the appearance of a small mound and that circular top will go away. In this phase the hill/nest is still active but no where near as many enemies will be pouring from it. At this point you can run up to it and press/hold :triangle: with much less hassle. Make sure not to take too long planting the charge, otherwise it will open back up to its original state and the ants/spiders will start pouring out of it again.

It is possible once you get the pesticide gun to kill destroy these anthills with one shot. Please note that you won't get credit for destroying them this way. You have to set the charge by pressing :triangle: in order for it to count for the trophy.

Anthill phases of destruction

  • Phase 2 - Suppressed, ants will not flow freely, ideal time to set charge

Collect All Dropped Weapons

Look what the Hector Dropped!

There are 107 weapon drops. These drops are completely random. They drop from the "elite" enemies and from main bosses. Hectors, Large Hectors, Wasps, Bomber Spiders and the 3 main bosses will all drop weapon crates when they are destroyed. The crates show up as yellow crosses on your map. Weapons will repeat so in the course of your playthrough, you may receive 107 drops but that doesn't mean you'll have all 107 unique weapons. Also, whether a boss drops these crates is random; sometimes you'll only get a health crate.

You can check your inventory to see your weapons from drops They will have a small biohazard symbol next to them. Some weapon drops cannot be used immediately. For example: If you are at Level 3 with your trooper class then you can only utilize up to the Tier 3 weapons. Sometimes though, you'll receive drops for weapons on a Tier greater than you can currently use. Those weapons will still have the Radiation symbol next to them but they'll also show up as locked. Once you reach the appropriate level the weapon will become available.

Weapon's List

Grind spot:

1. You can get approximately 5-8 weapon drops by repeating Chapter 3, Mission 4. Your first big fight in this mission is against a horde of ants and spiders. Eventually 3 small Hectors arrive and will potentially all drop weapons when defeated. Sometimes only 1 will drop a weapon crate though; it's slightly luck based. After this fight you move onto the major boss battle. The trick here is to not kill her. An infinite amount of ants, spiders and wasps will spawn as you're attempting to defeat the boss. Kill as many wasps as you can as they almost always drop weapon crates.

2. Another method for grinding drops is to wait until you have a pesticide gun. Once this happens head to Mission 4 of Chapter 1 on Inferno (3 Hectors right at the beginning) and quickly take them out with the Pesticide gun. Repeat until you have them all. This may take a while but just be patient. You don't have to complete the level for the gun drops to save. Simply restart the level once you've killed the 3 Hectors.

Unlocks naturally through the progression of story mode. Each of the 4 different armor classes will unlock during Chapter 1. They are the Trooper, Tactical, Jet and Battle. See below for details on each:

Trooper

Mobility is this armor sets strength. You move faster, revive teammates faster and reload weapons faster. It also has a strong weapon set. Unfortunately it does not have any shield capabilities and is more susceptible to damage.

Bk07ut2.jpg

Tactical

Being able to deploy mines, turrets and sensors is the highlight of this armor set. These items can be placed on the battlefield to help out immensely. It also offers more damage resistance. What it lacks is decent weapons.

bsMNnaW.jpg

Jet

This armor set is the fastest and the most maneuverable. It can also fly! It has a more unique weapon set offering a variety of different energy weapons. Its downside is that it dies easily. It has the least amount of protection.

9lJwYln.jpg

Battle

This armor set is really really slow. If you're trying to run away from something, you're screwed. It does however offer the most protection of any of the armors. It carries heavier weaponry and offers a shield.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/754/34.jpg Lifer (B)

Level up all armors completely

Well, Hello, Mr. Fancypants!

There are 8 levels per armor class. You can reach up to level 5 in normal difficulty, level 7 in hard difficulty and level 8 in inferno difficulty. You do not gain xp in Survival mode. You can theoretically grind out your xp in Chapter 1 of Inferno if you want to focus simply on that task. Considering how many kills are required it may be simpler and less of a headache to just run through the game with each armor class normally. Choice is yours. Also be aware that your xp won't save until you complete the mission. If you fail the mission your xp will be lost.

The following is the xp required for each Level:

  • Level 1: Default
  • Level 2: 1,500 xp
  • Level 3: 11,400 xp
  • Level 4: 25,000 xp
  • Level 5: 55,000 xp
  • Level 6: 138,000 xp
  • Level 7: 379,500 xp
  • Level 8: 793,500 xp

Additionally each class' weapons are Tiered according to the current xp level. For example: If you are at Level 3 xp then you have access to the Tier 3 Weapons for that class.

Grind Spot:

(Use this grind spot when trying to get up to rank 5)

You can get approximately 3500xp (in normal difficulty) by completing Chapter 3, Mission 4. You'll want to grind this solo so you can get as many of the kills for yourself. Your first big fight in this mission is against a horde of ants and spiders; kill like crazy. Eventually 3 small Hectors will arrive; defeat them. After this fight you move onto the major boss battle. The trick here is to not kill her. An infinite amount of ants, spiders and wasps will spawn as you're attempting to defeat the boss. Kill as many of the minor enemies as you can. You'll earn anywhere from 5-15xp for each kill and there are a ton of them. It takes me approximately 20 minutes to finish this Mission. If you're playing it solo your AI teammates will eventually take down the final boss. Even with them taking her down eventually I'm averaging 3500 xp points from the minor enemy kills.

(use this grind spot to max out at level 8)

Start up Chapter 1, Mission 1 on Inferno. Make sure you are at least a level 5-6. By completing this level solo with the bots off (change bots to off in the options prior to starting the game) you can earn up anywhere from 18,000-22,000 xp in approximately 20 minutes.

If you have a boosting partner that has an armor class upgraded to Level 8 you can speed up your process by having them carry your lower armor classes through Mission 1, Chapter 1 on Inferno. You won't be able to destroy anything because your weapons are too weak but if they have the pesticide gun they can do all of the killing for you and you'll still earn approximately 10,000 xp for objectives. You'll only need to run through it 5 times or so to reach Level 5 and then you can proceed to tackle the grinding yourself with better weapons.

Purchase all weapons for all armors

All gunned up!

Simply purchase all weapons for all armor classes. You earn money at the same rate as you earn xp. You can access your progress by going to "Extras" on the main menu and then "Stats." Your progression percentages are under "Weapons." To see what weapons you still need to purchase you'll have to enter the game and then check your armor classes prior to starting up the mission. Weapons with the biohazard symbol next to them do not need to be purchased. Those weapons come via weapon drops. See Scavenger for information on weapon drops. You're going to need approximately 2,000,000 for each armor class. It is a serious grind to get this much money. The best bet is to max out the armor class, obtain the pesticide gun and go nuts on Inferno difficulty.

Note that you must complete a level in order for the money to save, just like XP. If you fail the mission you'll lose the money you've obtained.

Also be aware that weapons cannot be bought until the Tier they are in is unlocked. There are up to 8 Tiers on each weapon type and each armor class. The Tiers unlock and correspond directly with the xp level of that armor class. For example: If your Trooper Class is at Level 3 xp then you will have access and will be able to purchase only up to Tier 3 weapons.

Money Credits Needed Total: 8,270,300

Totals for Each Class:

  • Trooper: 1,875,000
  • Tactical: 2,064,100
  • Battle: 2,038,500
  • Jet: 2,292,700

See the Weapon's List for details on each class etc.

See Lifer for a good xp/credit grind spot.

Revive a teammate

Good job! Now do it some more

You revive teammates by pressing and holding :triangle: when they are down. Simply revive a teammate for the first time for this to pop.

Revive 250 teammates

You're so nice

You must revive your partner(s) a total of 250 times. All playthroughs and modes count towards this total. Both AI and online partners count towards this total. Terminator has found a way to speed up getting this trophy:

For the "Bedside Manner" trophy, I have found a really fast way of getting it: Get the Battle Armour up to about tier 4, wait until your Squad is next you, then unleash your Overload attack (:l2:+:cross:) which will Instantly knock them out, revive them then rinse and repeat.

Survive 500 (total) waves in Survival mode

I will survive!

Simply survive a grand total of 500 waves in Survival Mode. This can be done over time. The first 5 waves will take you no more than 20 minutes each time. You can also simply play the first 3 waves as they're super fast and simple. Just quit and redo them to cut down on your grind time.

You should have this by the end of your first playthrough. If you do not, you can repeat Mission 1 - Chapter 1 to rack up the kills quickly. You should earn between 50-70 Landar kills per run.

Get 500 kills with the Mech

It's a Mech-a-delic freakout!

You first come across the Mech during Mission 4 of Chapter 1. Grind kills on this level to reach 500.

Additionally, in survival mode on the Marooned map you start off the first wave with a mech. You can grind kills here also and more quickly than in story mode. If the latter waves are too tough just repeat Wave 1 until you've reached your 500 kills.

Get 500 kills with the Tank

Tanks a lot

There are portions in the game where you'll be able to drive a tank against the Ravagers. You may be able to get this trophy on your first playthrough if things go favorable, but expect to play at least two rounds to get this. The tank, although strong, can only take so much abuse before you are forced to abandon it.

Best place to grind these kills is in Survival mode. The maps Double Whammy and Original Sin both provide you with a tank right at the beginning of Wave 1. Grind your kills here. If the latter waves are too tough just repeat Wave 1 until you've reached your 500 kills.

Get 500 kills with Base Turrets

Like a Turret in a punchbowl...

Base turrets are simply the turrets you'll encounter throughout the game. You'll accumulate kills as you progress through the story and levels in Survival Mode also have turrets you can use to acquire this trophy. This is more grind heavy than difficult, just keep at it and be patient. Like the tank, there is a chance you will get this on your first playthrough.

Best place to grind these kills is in Survival mode. The map Cornerstone provides you with a turret right at the beginning of Wave 1. Grind your kills here. If the latter waves are too tough just repeat Wave 1 until you've reached your 500 kills.

Kill a Large Hector

The bigger they are...

Story Related

[spoiler=lrghector]You'll first encounter the large hector in Chapter 2, Mission 4: Hectored.

This enemy is a much larger version of the Small Hector and has attacks that are much stronger. During Mission 4 in Chapter 2 you'll come upon an area that has a missile turret. As soon as you hit this area the Large Hector will arrive. Its weakspot is the red place right in the middle of its chest. At first, it is covered and protected. It takes very little ammo to get that protective coating off. Once off, it will expose its true weakspot which is a very large bright red circle. If you can stay as far away from it as possible it is best. It has an area attack that takes away almost all of your health so staying from away from it is key. It will take quite a while to get it to go down so just keep working at it. Eventually that red center circle on its chest will start to fade and will eventually turn black in color. That's how you know it's almost dead.

Has protective shield on his chest. It shines a small bright red Shoot that spot:

Now he's completely vulnerable. Continue shooting until that red circle turns black:

Kill a Queen Ant

The Queen is dead!

Story Related

[spoiler=mommaant]This is the penultimate boss battle. It occurs in Chapter 3, Mission 4: Mushrooms. You come to battle her during the second part of this Mission. You come over into an area surrounded by a brown wall that has obviously been set up by the ants. All along this wall are ant hills and spiders nests. You'll want to start by suppressing and destroying those nests/hills because an insane amount of enemies will pour into this area if not. As far as the Queen Ant goes, you will first want to focus fire above her head as there is a spot that will glow a bright yellow/orangish color when it is hit. Once it is damaged enough it will turn black and no longer glow. After this step is finished you'll want to shoot at her sides along the rear part of her body. This area will also glow when shot at. Once you've hit her enough she'll explode. Be aware that while she's alive, even if you destroy all of the hills/nests she'll continue to spawn ants, spiders and wasps. When she's dead you'll have to mop up those enemies to progress in the Mission.

Kill a Daddy Long Legs

Well he's a long gone daddy...

Story Related

[spoiler=daddylonglegs]Daddy Long Legs is the boss at the end of Chapter 1. He is immediately present once Level 5: The Daddy of Chapter 1 begins. The Daddy Long Legs is my favorite boss fight in the game. He's just truly epic. You'll soon see that as he moves around the bottom center of his body will open up and glow red, like that of a carrier and it will drop spiders. This is when you want to shoot it. You'll need to follow it around a bit to get a good angle on it. Because he is so large he covers a lot of ground. The area will get swamped with ants and the spiders that he's dropping so make sure to keep up with your surroundings. If you're playing co-op have one or two of your partners focus fire on the hordes while you shoot the boss or vice versa. Continue shooting the Daddy Long Legs when his weakspot is opened and he'll be dead in no time.

When the DLL appears like this he can't be damaged:

You'll encounter the first Mantis in Chapter 2, Mission 2: Predation.

The mantis look like, well giant robot mantis. They have an area attack that will take quite a bit of your health, a charge attack where they charge towards you swiping at you with their arms and also a charged energy attack that they'll shoot towards you. It is best if you circle this enemy and continue shooting at it from a distance. Moving in a circle around it keeps you from getting hit with the energy attack and the charge attack and staying far enough away will keep you from taking damage from its area attack. The mantis do not have a weak spot like other Elite Bosses. You just need to simply shoot it wherever you can until it dies.

Beat the game on Inferno Dante?

Is that you?

First off, difficulty trophies do not stack. You won't get the hard and normal trophies by beating Inferno on your first go. Furthermore, if you can beat Inferno with the default weapons then you're a ninja and I want to meet you.

The EDF campaign consists of three Chapters with five missions under each Chapter. There are three difficulty levels to story mode. It is highly recommended that you start off on Normal, go to Hard and THEN move on to Inferno. You'll need multiple playthroughs to reach your kill goals and you'll earn upgrades along the way that will greatly assist you in your Inferno run. Each mission (all 15) has to be completed to get the difficulty trophies. If you look at the campaign screen after you've chosen your difficulty there is the EDF symbol in the upper right corner (looks like the earth with wings and stars above it.) If you've beaten normal you should see a green colored one. Once you beat that Chapter and Mission on hard it'll turn yellow and then on Inferno you'll have a third one that is red. Each mission has to have all 3 colored to have been completed on all 3 difficulties.

See photo for an example of all difficulties completed on a Mission:

6WqA5e9.jpg

Inferno Tips:

  • It is highly recommended that you max out an armor class in each difficulty prior to starting the next. For example: You can get up to Level 5 playing on Normal. Don't start the Hard difficulty until you reach Level 5 with an armor class. Then get up to Level 7 playing on Hard Once you've hit Level 7, then start Inferno. Your upgraded weapons etc will make life much much easier.
  • Play with a strong boosting partner, if not two boosting partners. Up to 3 people can co-op the campaign. Having strong partners there to accurately revive you when you're down is key. It is also helpful to have your partners and yourself focus on different aspects of the battle. For example, if you're battling it out against ants, spiders and a couple of Hectors then have one person focus on taking out the minor enemies (ants and spiders) while the other two focus on the Hectors.

  • Bosses and elite enemies do not have health gauges. It's a guess on how well you're doing against them. Don't get discouraged and just keep shooting! On the ones that have the red weak spot, (see below) after they've taken so much damage the bright red will fade and look more black. This is a slight indication of the amount of damage they've taken however it still isn't the best gauge of how much further you have to go.

  • Most Enemies have a glowing red weakspot. Focus on those spots. Remember to dodge attacks by rolling with :r1:

  • Pick up health whenever you see it. You can have more health than you are initially given; so if your health is maxed and you pick up a health box you'll get added health. Health pickups show up as blue crosses on your map. Additionally, health pick ups will heal everyone on your squad. So if a teammate is low on health and you're near a health pick up then get it to help them out.

  • Ticks are a major pain and can take away more than half of your life if they attach to you. Utilize the roll feature (:r1:) to get away from them. You'll know they're trying to attach to you when they jump at you. Press :r1: right as they jump and you should roll away giving yourself time to shoot them.
  • Distance is huge. You want to be as far away from the chaos as you possibly can. The further away you are the less likely you are to get attacked. Your weapons have quite a long range so don't be afraid to run away.
  • If you are having a hell of a time beating Inferno and want to breeze through it then grind until you have an armor class up to Level 8 (Chapter 1, Mission on Inferno is the best place for this) and the pesticide gun will allow you to one shot kill almost everything, including bosses.

How long was an average playthrough and is the game fun? I'm interested but need a little more selling.

The campaign is short. On normal difficulty it'll take you about 3-4 hours. It's going to be a really long grind to the platinum so keep that in mind if that's not your type of game. You're basically looking at 3 playthroughs of the campaign mode on each difficulty with all 4 armor classes; plus grinding to finish leveling out your XP and getting all of the guns/kills etc.

Aside from that the game is a blast. It's simple. It's essentially shoot shoot and shoot some more. You progress through the levels taking on hordes and hordes of the insects with some minor bosses thrown in and then a major boss at the end of each Chapter.

You can play with up to 2 others on the campaign and you can play with up to 5 others on survival mode. It's really a lot of fun with friends.
