Roadmap

Welcome to the newest installment in the Dynasty Warriors series. Barring a couple of trophies, the game can be completed entirely offline. The game itself is not difficult, but you will find yourself spending alot of time grinding for the collection trophies. Playing online will definitely help you through the 5-star missions if you have strong partners, but it is not necessary. There are three factions: Shu, Wei and Wu, and you need to playthrough each campaign. Certain chapters are the same for all 3 factions and you can carry all game progress over when switching factions.

Visit the

Gameplay FAQ section at the end of the trophy guide for Material List/Locations and Tips on How to beat certain bosses.

Step 1 - Starting Out:

Choose whichever faction you like and complete the campaign while focusing on collecting the Legends for this faction and levelling your character. Don't focus too much on material grinding yet because you can do that on later factions when you acquire the Serendipity chi, which doubles the amount of drops you receive.

Don't forget to upgrade your city so that stronger items are available and ensure there's enough storehouse space for whatever materials you acquire.

You will unlock these trophies:

(B) : Weaponry K.O, Officer K.O, Budding General, Budding Strategist, Victory Toast, Blacksmith Patron 1, Blacksmith Patron 2, Academy Disciple, Workshop Patron.

Step 2 - Legends/Gaiden/Crossover Missions:

Once you've completed the campaign, I recommend to complete as many of the these missions as possible so that you acquire some useful materials for crafting better items. Equip Luck Orb++ and Serendipity chi if you have it to speed up the process. Completing these quests also contribute towards "Invincible General"

You should have Grand General

(G) by now (Level 50 Officer).

Step 3 - 2nd & 3rd Faction:

Time to complete your 2nd & 3rd faction. To keep your game progress when switching factions (characters, items, orbs, chi, quest completion %, officer cards etc), goto the Shrine and select "Change Force" to any of the other factions. You can switch back to previous factions any time by visiting the Shrine again. This way you can keep your Officers from your 1st faction and use them while playing 2nd and 3rd factions campaigns, which will be a breeze.

Chapters 1,2,3 and 6 are the same for all factions and utilize the same maps, so the Legends on these maps will always be there no matter which faction you're playing as

You will unlock these trophies:

(B) : Heretics Suppressed , Traitor Crushed

(S) : Tyranny Sealed, Three Kingdoms Established, Three Kingdoms United - Shu, Three Kingdoms United - Wei, Three Kingdoms United - Wu

(G) : Tyranny Vanquished.t

the end of this step you should have unlocked all Story Related trophies.

Step 4 - Grinding:

Now we move on to the bulk of the grinding. Finish off all the remaining Legend/Gaiden/Crossover missions that you have left and grinding the materials required to create all of the Chi, Orb and Weapons.

Take this opportunity to complete as many bonus objectives as you can, and win a battle as each selectable officer once which will reward you with treasures. Refer to Treasure Collector

(S) in trophy guide for details.

You will unlock these trophies:

(S) : Weapon Collector , Orb Collector , Chi Collector, Legend Collector, Invincible General, Card Collector and Treasure Collector

(G) : Grand Developer and Grand Strategist.

Online:

In between all this, you can team up with people to complete the harder missions online as well as all other missions. During this period anyhow, you should try to obtain Online Venture (S), Victory Banquet (S), Mutual Exchange (S)and Treasure Collector (S).

For Treasure Collector, 2 of the treasures are online related, which are Hex Mark Treasure - Win 10 online VS battles, and 4 Gods Statue Treasure - Friend several people online. Use the boosting topic if necessary.

Completed all Quests

I estimate there are around 200+ quests involving Requests, Story Missions, Gaiden Missions, Crossover Missions and High Difficulty Missions. You need to complete each of these, except the High Difficulty Missions (Credits to Rampidzier).

However, you need to complete these missions to unlock some characters so you can use them in the process of gaining "Way of Peace" treasure (win a battle as every character once)

Diao Chan – Beat “Battle of Hu Lao Gate” 5-Star

Dong zhuo – Beat “Battle of Luo Yang” and “Battle of Mei Castle” 5-Star.

Zhang Jiao – Beat “Yellow Turban Rebellion” 5-Star.

Of all the missions, the Chapter 6 story missions and Gaiden Missions may prove to be the most troublesome. Visit the Gameplay FAQ section below for some hints on how to complete these.

You can track Quest Completion % by accessing the "Vault" option from the second City Menu.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/336/23.jpgWeapon Collector (S)

Collected all Weapons

This will come very late in your progress as lots of materials are required and the 5-star weapons will require some rare materials that will require some grinding and luck. See Gameplay FAQ section below for material list/locations and hints on how to obtain.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/336/26.jpgCard Collector (S)

Collected all Officer Cards

This is the most stressful of all the collection trophies. Officers will randomly appear in your city (next to the old man) and you need to talk to them to obtain their Officer Card. The chances and order of Officers appearing in your city is totally random, and sometimes an Officer whom you’ve already met will re-appear in your city.

I suggest leaving this trophy until you’re nearing the end of your 3rd faction. By then you should have about 60-75% of Officer Cards.

Start a quest and immediately pause the game and select “Return to City” and check if a new officer has appeared. Rinse and repeat to collect ‘em all.

1. Material List according to Location

2. Material List according to Alphabetical Order

Where can I find Earth Gift/Sky Gift/Phoenix, Tiger, Dragon, Warrior Soul?

I believe these items can also be found in the material lists above, but for convenience's sake I will list them out according to my experience:

Note: You may be required to equip Luck Orb++ to increase chances of obtaining these drops from Officers. Equip Serendipity chi to increase the number of materials collected.

If you're lucky it may also drop in other levels, farming these items are all about luck and perseverance.

How do I defeat Ice Bi Xie/Ice Tian Lu/Death Phoenix/Tiger/Dragon?

These giant bosses are also classified as weaponry. Each weapon that you equip is effective against certain enemy types only.

I did this the hard way, by just equipping a very strong bow and let the arrows fly.

The best way however, is to have the following setup:

Tech (Staff/Canes) weapons - Highest dmg against weaponry

Mechastrike+ chi - Increases dmg against weaponry

Control++ chi - Lessens fury reduction

Immortal chi - You cannot be K.Oed while in Fury Form

Last Stand++ chi - Significantly increase dmg when low on Health

Alternatives:

Invert+ - Restore HP when attacked but reduces fury

Aero+ - Increases damage in air

Focus++ - Gradually refills Fury

Fury Armor - Prevents Knock Down in Fury mode

Bring items like Zen Elixirs and Fury Pills to keep your fury bar up.

The above is the best melee survival setup to use, but not necessarily a must.

These Chi(s) are high level and probably require your Academy to be at Level 4-5 as well as in possession of high level materials.

Eg: Immortal Chi requires an Earth Gift material which is pretty rare and you probably won't have it (unless you're lucky from officer drops) when you reach the Death Phoenix/Dragon/Tiger/Ice BiXie/Ice TianLu levels.

If you're afraid to die or just can't be bothered with timing attacks/combos, use a Bow with strong ATK orb/Chi.

You may substitute Chi(s) to your liking (increase dmg output instead of survival) or counter whatever terrain/enemy effects that might pose a problem.

Eg: Death LuBu inflicts Seal which prevents you from using items, so you might want to switch one Chi to Seal Resist++. He appears together with DiaoChan and those Mega Death Bosses.

What is Officer Trading?

A new feature to the DW series, but the term is misleading. To initiate trading, you will need to go into an Online City and select it from the City Menu. Basically, you and a friend will exchange officers for set period of time (10 battles). Note that you do not own the guest officer that you receive from your friend, you're only borrowing the officer. Cards are not involved in trading.

What are the benefits of Officer Trading?

The feature is meant to be a way of developing your unused characters, as well as increasing chances of encountering the guest officer in your own city, which will enable you to obtain his/her respective officer card.

To have the stats of your officer that was loaned out increased, your friend needs to play 10 battles, where your officer was involved as Ally Teammate of your friend.

How do I recall my Officer which was Loaned Out?

Goto the shrine, and select Guest Officer List. This list shows the number of guest officers you have and which officer you loaned out.

In order to recall your officer, you need to bring the corresponding guest officer that you are holding into battle once, as a teammate, then after the battle return to the shrine and you will be able to select recall your officer.

Note: If you recall your officer this way, he will not have his stats increased.

Yes this is the Item Duplication trick. Feel free to use it if you're lazy to grind, I never needed it.

It's faster (and connection error-free) if you follow my Rare Material tips in the Gameplay FAQ, just pop into the stage, whack away using Officer Killer setup.

You need to complete every quest anyway(therefore come across alot of mats if you lookout for boxes + Serendipity). Only if you need a huge amount for a certain material then maybe this trick will help.

I won't go into detail for this trick, interested ppl please refer to:

Hi back again

this is indeed one of a kind guide

really helpful tidy and wonderful

thanks for that pro

just a little tip

you said that high difficulty missions are not required to get the " complete all missions:trophy, and that's true because my percentage of completion isn't increasing after each mission.

However, some of the missions within the high difficulty mission are required to be completed to get certain characters.

like:

Diao Chan – Beat “Battle of Hu Lao Gate” 5-Star

Dong zhuo – Beat “Battle of Luo Yang” and “Battle of Mei Castle” 5-Star.

Zhang Jiao – Beat “Yellow Turban Rebellion” 5-Star.

by getting those 3 characters and all the others(who can be obtained by progressing with the story of each faction), you can get the

Way of Peace - Win a battle with every character once >>> Treasure

which is part of

(S)collect all treasures trophy(S)

just though this might help :)

and thanks again for the wonderful guides I'm making a fair progress all thanks to them ^^.

I can confirm you don't need Battle of Luo Yang for Dong Zhuo, just Battle of Mei Castle 5-star.

Questions about "Way of Peace" treasure:

  1. By "battles" do you mean just regular quests/missions or versus?
  2. If it is just quests/missions, can the character be an Allied Officer in the team of four, or it must be controlled by the player?

1. Any quest from the Quest Board will do.

2. It has to be user controlled.

Just wanted to say "Thanks for the guide!" After spending approx. 190 hours (getting Officer Cards the legit way), and having 10 level 50 officers, and having 6 level 40+ officers, I finally got my Platinum.

Thanks and congrats on your Platinum Trophy. You must really like the game, 190 hrs wow. The only game I ever played that required more than 100 hrs to plat was Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2
