Introduction:

After 12 fu... Uhm, after 12 to 14 years the game we have been waiting for is finally here! Duke is back to make some bacon and he's harder than ever. The game is full of trophies you want to take on your first playthrough, collectibles, kills and other easy trophies you want to get rid of and there are only 6 story related trophies. But since there's a Chapter Select you can go back to whatever trophy you might have missed, so don't worry about it that much. Below is my Roadmap to get the nice Duke platinum the fastest and easiest way. To be able to unlock the Insane Difficulty you'll have to play through the Single Player at least once on any difficulty. So even if you would want to get rid of the Damn, I'm Good before going for the easy ones, it wouldn't be possible. There is however some levels that you are able to complete using cheats, please refer to the Damn, I'm Good Trophy for more information.

Walkthrough:

Step One: Complete the game on Easy/Medium Difficulty and grab most of the trophies

In this step you want to focus on getting all the collectibles, kills and miscellaneous trophies. The difficulty trophies in this game are stackable, so you won't have to play the game on Medium or Hard, as you'll unlock it after the next step. There is however a cheat that doesn't disable your trophies and unlocks after completing the game on Medium that could make the Insane playthrough alot easier. The cheat you unlock for completing the game on Medium is the Duke 3D Freeze Ray. I would recommend to do this as it a very simple but effective "trick" involved that could save your life for the most of the time. Credit goes to blazenarutoshippuden for the trick, and to read more about it, see Damn, I'm Good. Here's what you want to do during this step:

At the end of the third chapter, "The Duke Cave" you'll be given the golden pistol. You want to keep it with you through the whole Single Player Campaign for the Gunslinger trophy.

While going through the Campaign, be sure to pick up all collectibles. What you want to look for is the 3 buckets and 14 phone calls. These will get you Bucket Head and Call Waiting. You also want to discover all the ego caps to unlock I Am All That Is Man, but not only that, you'll have all Ego Rewards ready for the next step, which means you'll have your Ego Gauge maxed out when going for Insane. Keep in mind that if you've missed something while going through the game you don't want to start a New Campaign. It'll reset all the things you've collected on your first playthrough. The way to go is via Chapter Select. Then you can choose the chapters you know you've missed something on without having to collect everything on that chapter once again.

Make sure to grab all miscellaneous trophies on this playthrough. These are the ones for eating food, drinking beer, drawing on a whiteboard and such. This will give you these trophies: Noms, Turd Burglar, Pescaphobe, Drawrings, I Need a Date, He's Got a Hologram!, Substance Abuser, Sunday, Black Sunday, Nobody Likes a Whiner, Companion Barrel, Party Animal.

You may also want to get those two trophies that may require some time to get, Air-Duke and Balls of Steel, which are the two hardest trophies in the game beside the Damn, I'm Good trophy. But since it's your first playthrough and you want to enjoy the game as much as possible, you don't want to ruin the gameplay by trying to get these trophies done which may result in a huge rage, so I recommend to wait with those until you've completed the game and comeback for them later via Chapter Select.

Almost all kill trophies should unlock by just playing through the Campaign, but to make sure you get them you should try pull them off as soon as you get the chance. Some of them you might have to try to get, there's a small chance you might forget to, for example, stomp 12 aliens or kill 6 aliens with the forklift. You never know... You should also bare in mind that even if you die or reload a checkpoint you will keep all those kills you got before dying or reloading checkpoint. Reloading checkpoints for kills is not really necessary in this game as most of the kills will come naturally and the loading times are too long to make you bother. If you're aiming for a trophy you will get it easy without having to reload any checkpoint, but if you prefer to get rid of the trophies as fast as possible, I recommend you use the reload checkpoint method.

After you've beaten the final boss you'll want to lay yourself back, have a beer (or steriods), and enjoy the music to the credits roll. This will give you the Special Thanks trophy.

Step Two: Complete the game on Insane Difficulty using Chapter Select

Before starting this step you want to make sure you have got all the Ego Cap Rewards. If not, go back to each chapter you've missed any one of them via Chapter Select, where you can see how many Ego Caps you have on each chapter. Having all of those will make the Insane playthrough a lot easier. You don't want to select New Game when you're going for this, because that will make you lose all your Ego Rewards. The way to go is via Chapter Select. This will make it possible for you to have a maxed out Ego Gauge throughout the whole game, which makes the Insane difficulty much easier. The game contains a lot of parts where you don't have to face any aliens at all, but there's also a lot of places that are really hard and frustrating, especially bosses if you don't use any special strategy. Just keep trying and you will make it sooner or later. Thankfully, unlike many other FPSs set on the hardest difficulty, you will get alot of checkpoints in each chapter, which will help a lot. Without them it would be almost impossible to beat it. After this step you will have the Damn! I'm Good trophy, but also all other difficulty trophies that you didn't get before. Please see Damn! I'm Good further down in the trophy guide for some tips.

Step Three: Clean Up

In this step you want to get all other trophies you may have missed. If you have followed my Roadmap the only trophies you may have left are the Air-Duke and the Balls of Steel trophies, as I recommend saving them to enjoy the first playthrough. Those two can be a little frustrating, but there a some small tips on how to beat them. Refer to the trophies in question below in the Trophy Guide for those tips. But you may also have missed any of the collectibles trophies while playing though the game. If this step is necessary for you, simply use Chapter Select to go back and take the trophies you have left. After this step you will have the shiny platinum, Savior of the Universe. Congratulations!

http://bit.ly/niimxT Nuclear Devastation (B)

Kill 250 aliens

This will come naturally by just playing. There are plenty of aliens throughout the game, and you will most likely have this trophy after beating around half of the Campaign. The kills will still count even if you would happen to die or restart the checkpoint for some reason, so there's no need to worry about this trophy.

http://bit.ly/nIXSoy On the Noggin' (B)

Kill 30 aliens with headshots

The best weapon for this trophy is the Railgun, or the Shotgun when in close combat. Just aim for the head on every possible alien and you will have it very early in the game. The easiest enemies to get headshots on is the Pigcops, since they can't teleport and fly around like the Assault enemies can. If you have completed the games on Easy or higher, remember to turn the Big Heads cheat up to 150% for some easier shots.

A really easy place to rack up headshots is in "The Shrunk Machine". Right after you get the Freeze Gun in the beginning of the level you will enter a big room with a lot of Pig Cops coming at you. Freeze every possible Pig and perform a headshot with your secondary weapon. Don't worry about ammo for the Freeze Gun, it will automatically refill itself while it's not in use. There will be around 10 Pigs that you can freeze, so after every Pig is dead, reload the checkpoint until you have the trophy if you want to make it easy for you.

http://bit.ly/oA8OC5 Hippy-Stomper (B)

Foot stomp 12 aliens

In order to get this trophy you have to stomp on 12 aliens making them die a squashy death. The main aliens that you can kill by stomping on them is Octobabies, but you will also be able to do it on other shrunken enemies later in the game. To stomp an alien to death, simply look down at it and walk over it. The first level you will be able to do this is in "The Hive". This Chapter contains a lot of Octobabies, so just keep stomping every possible alien in this Chapter and the trophy is yours.

Later in the game, in "The Duke Burger", you will find your first Shrink Ray on the rooftop. If you haven't got the trophy yet this gun is great for getting some more foot stomp kills.

http://bit.ly/nT8omE Judge, Jury, Executioner (B)

Execute 20 aliens

While going through the game you'll notice that the aliens sometimes sits down on their knees after you've hurt them by throwing an object at them or shot them a little. When you see an alien like this you want to run up to them and hit :square:. Duke will perform a brutal attack and kill the beast. That's how you do an Execution. The Execution will kill the alien instantly, but that's not all, it will also give you full Ego Gauge. Just keep doing this to every possible alien and you'll have the trophy in no time.

A good place for this is in "The Shrunk Machine". In the beginning of the level you'll find a Freeze Gun, take it and then shoot every alien you see. While the enemies are frozen you're free to walk up to them and perform an Execution on them.

http://bit.ly/nDfwR3 Trapper (B)

Kill 10 aliens with Trip Mines

The Trip Mines are the ones that are grey and light blue with a red dot in the middle of it on the HUD, and have a red laser beam coming out of them when thrown out on a wall or on the ground. The first time you will find one of those Trip Mines is in "The Lady Killer: Part 3", and after that you will get a lot more of those mines throughout the game, so there's no need to worry about not having enough.

There's two ways to get kills with this Mine. You can either throw one out (:l2:) on the ground or a wall and try to lure the enemies to walk into the red laser beam, which will trigger the bomb and the alien will explode. Or you can simply walk up to an alien and throw it at him. The Mine will stick to the alien and the alien will die a peaceful death. I found it easiest to throw the Mines at the aliens when they are standing close to you, or enemies who are running up to you, such as those Berserk Pigcops without weapons. After 10 kills this trophy is yours.

http://bit.ly/pFDKwp Freeze Well! (B)

Kill 15 frozen aliens

The first time you will be able to do this is in "The Shrunk Machine". In the beginning you will see an EDF soldier and two survivors talking about killing Pigs with harsh language. Behind the soldier is a Freeze Gun. Equip it and in the next room there will be around 10 Pig Cops that you can freeze. Once an enemy is frozen you can kill it either by shooting it, blow it with explosives, melee it or execute it. I would recommend either shoot it in the head with your secondary weapon for On the Noggin', or perform an execution on it for Judge, Jury, Executioner. By doing this you can work on at least two trophies at the same time. After those 10 Pigs are dead, continue with the game and freeze every alien you encounter. This trophy should pop really early after you first find the Freeze Gun.

http://bit.ly/r4l4Q2 Road Rage (B)

Kill 15 aliens with the monster truck

The monster truck is first drivable in "The Mighty Foot", but there won't be any aliens to drive over... yet. However, in "The Mighty Foot: Part 2" there will be loads of aliens for you to crush. Run over every alien you see and the trophy should unlock before you run out of gas. If you happened to miss some aliens there's no need to worry. There will be plenty of aliens in the next Chapter, "Ghost Town", waiting to get killed by the mighty Duke Truck.

http://bit.ly/nbZP3P Fork the Pork (B)

Kill 6 aliens with the forklift

In the beginning of "The Forkstop: Part 2" you will see a hoisted forklift. Use the control panel to the left of it to lower it down. Now that you have got it down on the ground, walk up to it and press :square: to enter. While driving through the corridor there will come out Pigcops to mess with you. Ram them to send them on a little trip. There will be a total of 7 Pigs in this corridor, so as long as you keep Duke inside the forklift you can't accidentally kill them in some other way, you will get the trophy.

http://bit.ly/pc4jIS Dead Useful (B)

Kill 10 aliens with environmental explosives

While playing you will notice different red objects that explode if you shoot at them, such as barrels, tanks and tubes. There are also some brownish tubes in "The Duke Cave", but that's the only place you'll find those brown ones. Those explosions are what they call "environmental explosives". Sometimes you will see aliens standing next to one of those red objects. Shoot at it and an explosion will go off killing all the aliens around it. But some other times you will just find barrels or tubes somewhere when no aliens are around. To make this trophy easier you can pick up those red barrels or tubes and throw them at aliens you encounter and the alien will be blown to pieces. But watch out, if an alien starts to shoot at you while carrying one of those, the best thing you can do is to throw it away, or it will most likely be you who gets blown into pieces.

http://bit.ly/rgI0aU Tosser... in the Literal Sense (B)

Kill 10 aliens with tossed objects

This trophy is really easy and can be done throughout the game. Almost all Chapters in the game contains a lot of barrels and other stuff. Pick up those things and throw them at every enemy you face. The easiest enemies to kill are the Pigcops, which it becomes a lot of in later chapters. The barrels are heavy enough to make them die by only one hit, or perhaps (most likely) it's Duke's strength that makes it.

http://bit.ly/okgXKS Duke Angry, Duke Smash! (B)

Kill 15 aliens with melee attacks while on steroids

Throughout the game you will find bottles of steroids in lockers, out in the nature, well, you'll find them a little here and there. The best places where you want to use these on is when facing big groups of enemies. Press :left: when you feel that you will kill a lot of aliens. When on steroids, Duke will bring up his fist and make himself and his knuckles ready to beat those alien bastards. Steroids will make Duke faster and extremely strong and you will be able to pull of one hit kill punches on weaker enemies.

If you prefer to getting trophies done as soon as possible there's a place early in the game you can get it on. After Duke has showed that he knows how to turn a girl on in "The Duke Cave" you will be rewarded with a bottle of steroids. After picking those steroid a group of aliens will come asking to get their asses kicked. Now it's time for you to take the yellow pills by pressing :left:.There will be a total of 7 aliens for you to kill. Run up to each one of the aliens and smash them like little flies. Once every alien is dead, reload checkpoint and repeat the process two more times and the trophy is yours.

Eat 10 pieces of food in SP

There's a lot of food lying around all over the world of Duke Nukem, such as donuts, popcorn, fries, boogers and other tasty stuff. The trophy is pretty hard to miss if you're trying to enjoy the game as much as possible. However, you might consider running through the Campaign as fast as you can to get it over with.

This is easily done in the beginning of "Damn! It's Late...". After getting out of the elevator you'll go down a staircase and enter a corridor. To the right in this corridor you will find three vending machines and a guy doing nothing, probably a janitor. Place yourself in front of the snack vending machine and start spamming :square:. When you have pressed enough times, look down and press :square: to eat the food lying on the floor.

http://bit.ly/r8XYeD Natural Disaster 3x (B)

Kill 3 aliens at once

This trophy is very easy, unlike other games that contain trophies like this. It can be easily achieved by throwing out Pipe Bombs in big groups of aliens or blowing stuff up. One part that I found really easy to get this on is in the beginning of "The Duke Dome". After Willy has swung over the dumpster for you and you have jumped in it for a ride, look in the corner to the right for an RPG, it will come in handy soon. You will be going from left to right next to a parking garage. Clean the first level out of aliens and you will be lowered down to the level below. Be ready with your RPG. A van will come with four aliens in it, and to the right is two red tubes (oh yeah!). As soon as the aliens run towards the tubes due their stupidity, fire off a rocket to kill the whole bunch around the tubes. If made correctly the trophy will pop.

Another good spot for this is at the very end of "The Shrunk Machine". After you have called for the elevator it will come down plenty of Octababies through the vent to kill you. These guys are very easy to avoid getting hurt off of. All you need to do is walk all the time. They'll follow you like a tail and be right in your face when you turn around. Simply throw out a Pipe Bomb or Trip Mine and you'll get 3 kills easy.

Get knocked down 10 times

Certain enemies and bosses can knock Duke down to the ground. These are Assault Commanders, the Alien Queen boss, and the first and last bosses, the Cycloid Emperors. The Assault Commanders are the big aliens that fly around. This guy shoots rockets and has blades that he uses to charge towards Duke. He can also turn EDF soldiers into Pigcops, but what we want to focus on here is the charge attack. Sometimes when you get hit by this aliens charge attack, Duke will get knocked down laying on the ground, which you want for the trophy. The first place you will encounter one of those aliens is in "The Lady Killer: Part 3". There will be more of those aliens throughout the game, so you shouldn't worry about this that much.

There is however a better place for getting knocked down. As I said before, the Alien Queen you will fight in Chapter "Queen Bitch" will also be able to knock Duke down on his back. During the fight she will shoot, or shout, out some kind of energy blasts or shockwaves a lot of times. These will help you get knocked down and get the trophy really easy. But look out for her big claw-looking hands and the Pregnators that hatch from the pods she shoots out.

You'll encounter the Cycloid Emperors in both "Duke Lives" and "Final Battle", and they basically do the same attacks. There's at least two attacks the Emperors can do to knock down Duke. The first one is an electric pulse he sends out by slamming his claws in the ground, and the other is the charge attack he does against Duke.

http://bit.ly/qfe4iV Turd Burglar (B)

Find and steal a piece of poo

The trophy everyone loves. This is easily done at the beginning of the first level, "Duke Lives". As soon as you're done taking a piss, go to your right. You'll see one room to the right and one room a little further away to the left. Enter the room to the right and you'll see some showers to the left and some toilets to the right. The two first toilets from the right contains a turd. "Steal" it by pressing :square: and the trophy is yours. Have fun with it. There will be more pieces of poo for you to find further into the game if you would happen to miss this, or if you just want to play around some more.

Here's a video of where to find the first two turds:

Get hit by 10 Pregnator bombs

Pregnators can be found at many different places throughout the game, but the main Chapter you find them on are "The Hive: Part 2". This chapter is full of Pregnator eggs from which they hatch. If you don't know how a Pregnator looks they are the small, six legged aliens with something that looks like a nutsack on their back with spikes on it. Pregnator bombs are the white phlegmy substance that Pregnators shoot at you, which is possibly used to fertilize the women that the aliens have captured. When you encounter those Pregnators you want to keep a good distance from them, otherwise they will jump up on you causing a Quick Time Event and result in a death for either the Pregnator or you. Just let them shoot their slimy bombs at you until you have the trophy.

http://bit.ly/oiGG3x Baron von Nukem (B)

Shoot down 20 alien fighters

This trophy can be easily obtained during "Mothership Battle". The Mothership will send out small planes that comes towards you to kill you with some blue laser beam. Ignore the Mothership and only focus on those Alien Fighters. To make it easier to shoot down those Fighters, go into Options, turn on Aim Assist and set the sensitivity to 1 on both vertical and horizontal. This will make it a lot easier to follow the ships, and the Aim Assist will work as an auto aim if you tap :l1: repeatedly while shooting. When you notice the Mothership stops sending out Fighters, simply reload last checkpoint or let it kill you with it's lasers. Another good place for this is "Crash Course". You come to a spot where you have to climb up a long yellow ladder. As soon as you reach the top you will see a crashed chopper with a turret inside. Use it and both Alien Troopers and Alien Fighters will come to kill you.

Listen to all phone messages

Throughout the game you will find telephones at different places. Some of these phones, 14 to be exact, have a recorded message for you to listen to. To listen to those recordings, simply interact the phone using :square:. You won't have to actually listen to the whole message, you can just turn it on and walk away from it if you don't find them very interesting. Here's a list of all phones you need to find for the trophy:

Duke Lives

1. After you have finished playing a later version of Duke Nukem 3D, you should see a white door on the other side of the room that leads into a bathroom. Enter the door and look for the phone on the wall in there.

The Duke Dome

2. After you've blown down a container and walked through it you will see a rectangular building to your right. Enter the building by climbing up on top of it using a ladder on the back of the building, then jump through one of the windows on the roof. You will find the phone sitting on a wall.

Duke Nukem's Titty City

3. Right where you start this Chapter, turn around and you'll find the phone lying on the desk right in front of you.

4. Go into the main room of the strip club (the big one with a strip table in the middle of it). Turn right and enter the corridor. Follow the corridor straight all the way until you get to a door saying "Employees Only". Enter that room and continue up the stairs. You will come to another door upstairs, and as soon as you enter that room, turn left and you'll see a desk with a computer screen on it. The phone is lying on that desk.

5. Walk back out to the main room and you will see a bar to the left. Enter the bar by opening the bar desk with :square:. In front of you it should be a locked door and a sign on it saying "Private". Open the door using the code 4768, and enter the room. Follow the room all the way to its end where you'll see a desk. Sitting on the wall right next to it is the 5th phone.

6. Go out of the bar and look to your left for a doorway with a sign saying "Champagne Room". Enter that room and turn left. You will see a woman standing behind a desk taking care of all the costumers that wants a lap dance. On the desk it's lying by a phone.

The Duke Burger

7. As soon as the Chapter begins, turn around and follow the corridor hall all the way to its end. You will see a desk to the left with two cash registers on it and behind there's a shelf with some Duke Nukem action figures. On the same as the cash registers is the 7th phone.

The Mighty Foot

8 & 9. After running out of gas for your monster truck, you will have to enter a small building on the side of the highway in order to find some more gas. Do so, and when you're in that building, look on the two desks in there for two phone messages.

The Shrunk Machine

10. After you have got the Freeze Gun in the beginning of the Chapter you'll enter a room full of Pig Cops. On the other side of the room you will see a doorway with two doors. Wait until a Pigcop kick the doors up and enter the room. In front of you will be a desk with another phone on it.

Generator Room

11. Right in the beginning of the Chapter you'll be riding an elevator. When the elevator doors open you will see two dead EDF soldiers lying on one bench each. Turn left and continue towards the doors. As you're walking toward the doors, look to the right and you'll see a phone on the wall next to a drinking fountain.

The Clarifier

12. In the beginning of the Chapter it will come out a Pig who kicks up the door. Right after that you will have to enter a door that is directly in front of you in order to proceed further into the game. Enter that room and to the left there's a double door for you to open. After you have entered the next room it will be a desk in front of you. On that desk it's a lying phone.

13. Right after the last phone you will fight a group of Pig Cops. After killing all of them you have to move the ledge on wheels with a ladder attached to it. Climb on top of that and you have to drop down a hole into a room. In front of you there will be a desk with the 13th phone lying on it.

14. In the end of the Chapter you'll come to a huge room with electrified water in it. When you have crossed the water you will come to a staircase going up to the second floor. When you have got all the way up the stairs the last phone will be waiting for you on the wall in front of you.

Here's a video showing the locations of all phones:

Find all 3 helmets in the SP campaign

There are 3 helmets hidden in the game, taken from three different famous FPS games, which is a very cool easter egg. The helmets are taken from Halo, Dead Space and Borderlands. Once you find one of those helmets Duke will say some suitable phrase about it. Here's the locations of all helmets:

Helmet 1 - Master Chief Helmet from Halo

This one is located in the beginning of "Vegas In Ruins". Right after talking to Dylan about pounding aliens in the cornholes, go past the two EDF soldiers and you will meet another EDF soldier before going out on the streets. Look in the van to the right of the soldier.

Helmet 2 - Isaac Clarke's Helmet from Dead Space

This helmet is located in "The Hive". While going through the Chapter you will come to a purple tunnel where you find some sort of alien rolled up to a ball. Roll the alien through the tunnel and give it to the alien claw on the wall next to the anus door (Thanks to slammajamma28 for clearing up that it's an anus) to open the door. Run up the small hill and tickle another one of those doors. Since it's really dark in this area, turn on your Duke Vision by pressing . To the left you will see a hidden area where you have to crouch to get in to. Do so and you'll find a dead marine.

Helmet 3 - Psyco or Midget Mask from Borderlands

This one is the hardest of the 3 helmets to find. You'll find it during "Blowin' The Dam". After you've placed the first bomb and after turning on the second valve there should be some sort of tunnel in front of you. Swim through it and look to your left. There should be a EDF soldier floating around who has some light directed towards him. Swim up to him and look to the left. Swim into the wreck and up to the water surface inside. Look to your right and you will find a head lying on a rock.

Here's a more detailed video of where to find all helmets. This comes in very handy when it comes to the last head:

Drink all of the beers in the strip club

In the level "Duke Nukem's Titty Club" there are 9 beers placed at different places in the strip club for you to drink. Some of them can be a little hard to find if you're not the one who loves collectibles. The locations are as follows:

1. As you enter the strip club itself, go right and continue down the corridor. You'll come to a door which says "Employees Only". Open that door, enter the room, and continue to walk straight. To your left you'll see a pile of boxes. Walk around those boxes and you'll see it beside the box at the top.

2. Walk out the room the same way you came from and turn to the right in the corridor when possible. You'll notice an open doorway to your right almost right beside you. Walk in there and continue until you get into a small room with a yellow "wet floor" sign. On the wall to the left there's a small shelf. The beer is on the shelf together with a pack of cigarettes and a bottle.

3 & 4. Walk all the way back out of the corridor you came from for the first beer. Now you should be in the main room of the strip club. As soon as you exit through the corridor you'll see a bar to the left. Enter the bar by opening the bar desk with :square:. You'll see a refrigerator to the left standing against the back wall. Open it and there are two cold beers, waiting for Duke to take them.

5. Facing the refrigerator, turn right and you should see a red door. Approach the door and you'll notice it's locked and that you need a password to get in. The password is located inside the room itself, but since I'm nice today I'll give it to you for free. Enter the password 4768 and press OK. Once in the room, go to the left and you'll stumble across a desk with a big lamp, some Chinese food, and the 5th beer on it.

6. Go out of the room and exit the bar. Turn left and you'll see a strip table (would be much appreciated if someone could give me the correct word for that) in the middle of the room. Facing the strip table from a straight view, walk towards it and take a look at the closest right corner.

7. After drinking your beer, go to the left of the strip table (assuming you're still facing it from a straight view) and continue through the doorway. To your right there will be several arcade machines, and in front of the second machine your 7th beer will be standing on a stool.

8. Walk up the stairs in the same room and you'll see two billiard tables in another room in front of you. Walk towards them and enter the doorway on the left side of the room. As soon as you've entered the doorway, turn around to face the doorway you came in through. On the table on the wall to the left you'll find another beer.

9. Go all the way back, and as you enter the main room of the strip club, look to the left for a doorway with a sign over it that says "Champagne Room". Enter that doorway and you'll see a sign to the left that say "Lap Dances". Follow the arrow of the sign and go past the girl and up the stairs. Once you've made it up the stair you'll see a doorway with a pink sign saying "Lap Dances". This is where you complete the Chapter so you'll have to enter this room. When you're in the room, look to the right. There are two chairs standing against the wall. The first chair from the left is the one that has the final beer for Duke to drink. Hope he didn't get too drunk...

Kill all of the catfish in the underwater level

This trophy must be obtained in "Blowin' The Dam". During the chapter you might find some fishes scattered around the level. Shoot all of them and the trophy is yours. There's a total of 15 catfishes you have to kill in order to get this, and it gets easier to find them if you turn on your Duke Vision using . Following are the locations of all catfishes:

1. Right after you have turned on the first valve, swim up towards the first air vent and look to the left. It's in front of the rock.

2. After you exit the area you were in for the first catfish, you will come to another air vent. Look to your right and the second fish is right next to you.

3. Swim down and forward, assuming you look in the direction of the second catfish while you're over the air vent. You will see some air bubbles coming from another air vent. Swim down to it and the catfish will be right next to you to your right.

4. Swim back to where the second catfish was and look down diagonally down to the left as if you just came out from the hole. Down on the bottom you will see a container with an air vent in front of it. Swim down to it and kill the Octabrain coming out from it. Next, look at the upper left corner of the container and you will find the 4th fish.

5. Look a little to your left after killing the 4th catfish. You will see a boat wreck. Next to the boat is another catfish.

6. Swim back to the air vent and face the huge yellow pipes. Swim over them to find one more catfish.

7. Swim down towards the place where you plant the first bomb. Follow the yellow pipe on the bottom to the left. From there you will see a car wreck. To the right of it is a catfish.

8. Continue following the pipe until you come to a valve. Turn the valve on and face the big tunnel looking thing in front of you. Instead of going through the tunnel, swim down to the bottom to meet you friend next to a rock.

9. After killing that fish, swim diagonally up to the right to find a yellow pipe with an air vent on it. Look down in front of you and you'll see another car wreck. Beside it is a catfish.

10. Follow the pipe to the next air vent, which isn't very far away from the last one. Look behind the big broken part of a building for another fishy fish over a boat wreck.

11. Follow the pipe a little further and you'll come to a place where there's a dead EDF soldier blocking your way in a whole. Swim into him to make him move, and then look up to the right over the valve. The 11th catfish is waiting for you there.

12. Turn the valve and follow the pipe once again. Keep your eyes open for a catfish to the left of the pipe.

13. After that one is dead, follow the pipe (again...) until you find another air vent. Look to the left and start to swim upwards. Once you can see over the rocks you will also see a catfish.

14. Swim down to the pipe and proceed forward until you find a valve. Turn the valve and go to the right. You will see an EDF Ammo Crate with a catfish over it.

15. Follow the pipe next to the Ammo Crate straight to the end of the pipe. On your right there will be some seaweed. Swim through it to find the last catfish.

Doodle something on the whiteboard in SP

Another easy trophy which can be obtained in the first level, "Duke Lives", right after you have had some fun with your turd and got the Turd Burglar trophy. As you exit the room you start in you'll enter a big circular room with some dead EDF soldiers lying on the ground. However, you'll also see some soldiers talking on the opposite side of the room. Beside the soldiers is a whiteboard. Approach it and press :square: to start doodling something, maybe a line if you like that. Once you've started to "change the plan" the trophy will pop. There will be more whiteboards throughout the game, so if you happened to miss this whiteboard for some reason, don't worry. You will still get it on your first playthrough.

Look at every page of a calender in SP

This trophy can be obtained in "The Shrunk Machine". After you have got the Freeze Gun for the first time you'll enter a room full of Pigcops. On the opposite side of the room you'll see a double door. Take care of all those aliens first, and then enter the room. Turn around and you'll see a calendar to the right on the wall. Walk up to it and press :square:, and then flip through all the pages. You will be rewarded with both the trophy and an Ego Cap. See # 27 on I Am All That Is Man for a video location at 6:56.

http://bit.ly/nL3D8e Sticky Bomb Like You! (B)

Put a Trip Mine on a live alien

The first time you'll find trip mines is in the end of "Lady Killer: Part 3". After that you will find a lot more Trip Mines throughout the game, so you don't have to worry about running out of them. To get this trophy, simply run up to an alien enemy and throw a Trip Mine on it using :l2:. Just make the Mine stick to him and the trophy will pop.

Since this is very easy to do on most of the enemies you will encounter, there's no place that is better than another.

Here's a video showing how to do:

http://bit.ly/qH5sNy Big Guns, Big Ships (B)

Blow up 5 enemy Gunships or Dropships

Gunships are heavily armored ships that are larger than Alien Fighters. They will shoot lasers at you which causes a lot of damage. Dropships are very similar looking to the Gunships, but sustain more damage than the Gunships. They are made only for dropping off aliens to the earth, so they don't have any weapons to kill you with. The only way to kill those are by using turrets or explosive weapons, such as RPG and the Devastator. You will encounter a lot of those ships during the game, so you will have the trophy after your first playthrough. Just keep aiming for them when they appear and the trophy should pop early in the game.

Win air hockey with a score of 7-0 in the strip club

The air hockey game is located in the back of the Game Room in the strip club of "Duke Nukem's Titty City" When you first enter the main room of the strip club, take a look to your left and you should see a doorway with a sign over it saying "Game Room". Enter that room and continue up the small staircase. Once up on the second floor, look to your right and you'll find it. Walk up to the air hockey table and press :square: to challenge the guy standing next to it. The controls on this are really awful and hard to use, so instead of playing offensively, the key is to play defensively and only hit the puck when it's gliding slow. The opponent will most likely screw up and either miss, or shoot it into his own goal. The camera is really bad so you won't see the puck if you happen to miss it. Take it easy when you slide the mallet back to your goal, or you might accidentally shoot it back into your goal. Play around with the sensitivities in Options, if you feel it's necessary. If the opponent happens to score, simply leave the table by pressing :circle: and re-challenge him again. The score will reset if you do so, unlike the pinball game. Winning the game will give you both the trophy and Ego Cap Reward #19 (see I Am All That Is Man).

If you want a demonstration of how it works, take a look at this:

Earn a 1,000,000 pinball score in SP

This trophy is one of the hardest trophies in the game, unless you use a really easy method, but we will come back to that soon. First off you want to find a pinball machine. There are two pinball machines in the game, one in "The Duke Cave" and the strip club in "Duke Nukem's Titty City".

The first one, in "The Duke Cave", is located right in the beginning. After Duke has opened up the door with his hands and killing an alien crouching, you will have to enter a room full of training object and two aliens doing their daily workout. Turn around and you will see it to the right in the corner.

The second one, in "Duke Nukem's Titty City", is located in the Game Room. When you first enter the main room of the strip club, take a look to your left and you should see a doorway with a sign over it saying "Game Room". Enter that room and continue up the small staircase. Once up on the second floor, look to your right and it's right there.

Now that you have found your pinball machine you want to get a score of 1 million points. What you want to do is get a bonus multiplier of x2. To do so you have to hit the 3 upper dots 1 time each to make them all glow red. This can be pretty annoying, but you will get it sooner or later. If you get the time to see which dot the ball is going to hit you can flip the left flippers (:l1:) to make the already lighten dots move to the left, and flip the right flipper (:r1:) to make it move to the right. The reason you want to do this is because if the red dot gets hit by the ball again it will turn back to as it was before, and you will have to hit it once again.

When you have got the multiplier to at least x2 you want to catch the ball with the upper left flipper by holding the :l1: button. Now that you have the ball lying against the flipper you want to quickly release and hold :l1:. This will make the ball roll up and hit the panels to the left, then it will most likely bounce out to the right, so what you want to do now is to flick the :lsleft:. This will make it tilt and the ball should lay itself back to the same position again. You can tilt at most two times every shot you make if needed, but on the third tilt you won't be able to use the flippers and you will probably lose a ball. But remember to only do this each 5 seconds, or you will lose control over the flippers again, due too rapidly tilting. Repeat until you have 1 million and the trophy is yours.

If you feel that it gets a little hard to control everything with only the left hand you can go into Options after pressing :start: and then into Controls. In there you'll see "Swap Left & Right Stick". Turn it on and you're now able to tilt the table with the :rsleft:. Makes it a little easier on your hands, and maybe your mind.

Drink a beer in SP

Beers can be found at many different places throughout the game, and once Duke drinks one, he will be able to take more damage for a small time. The only disadvantage with the Beers is that Duke is weak and only needs to drink one Beer to get drunk. In other words, it will be harder to see what you're doing, since Duke's vision will get blurry. The first time you'll find a Beer is in "The Duke Cave". After crawling through the vent from the gym leading out to a corridor, you'll see some beer cans lying on the floor. Two of them are unopened. As soon as you get out through the vent, Duke will automatically pick one up. Press  to drink it, and the trophy will pop. Don't forget to pick up the other Beer after drinking up. You want to have that later for the Substance Abuser trophy that you can get in the same Chapter.

http://bit.ly/rcPM0E Juiced (B)

Take steroids in SP

Bottles of steroids will be scattered around the world of Duke Nukem. Those yellow pills will make Duke faster and much stronger. After taking steroids you will be able to run up to an alien and perform a one hit kill punch, except on tougher enemies. The alien will then "rest in pieces". The first time you'll be able take those pills is in "The Duke Cave". After you have replaced the reactor cores and turned the power back on, you'll be rewarded with a bottle of steroids. Press :left: and Duke will swallow the pills, making you get the trophy. Thanks, Duke. If you picked up the other Beer earlier on this Chapter (see Flagon of Chuckles), make sure to drink that one up while still on steroids for Substance Abuser.

http://bit.ly/q9Lrlb He's Got a Hologram! (B)

Use a Holoduke in SP

The Holoduke is a smart thing made for Duke to lure aliens. Once you throw out a Holoduke a copy of Duke will appear. This will make the original Duke invisible, so you can easy kill aliens who attacks your Holoduke while he is running around shooting them. The first Holoduke you'll find is in "The Duke Burger: Part 3". On the roof there's some kind of shelter that has some Holodukes in it. Pick one up and throw it out using :right: to get the trophy.

http://bit.ly/nsvzSu Substance Abuser (B)

Drink beer while on steroids or vice-versa in SP

This is easily obtained in "The Duke Cave". In the beginning you will have to crawl through a vent from the gym. As you exit the vent there will be two Beers lying on the floor. Take one up and proceed forward. Later on, when you have restored the power, you'll be rewarded some steroids. Pick them up and use them by pressing :left:. Then crack up and drink your Beer with . Enjoy the power of Beer and Nukem RX! And your trophy, of course...

Carry the gold pistol through the whole SP campaign

The gold pistol is Duke's own special made M1911. The only times you are able to get this gun is in the end of "The Duke Cave" and in the beginning of "Final Battle". For this trophy you want to carry the gun all the way through every chapter, from "The Duke Cave" to the end of the game, which is very easy if you're playing on Easy. I would not recommend it, but feel free to exchange your pistol for any other gun if needed and pick it up later again. But remember to always be close to it so you can find it again. All you want to do is to complete each possible chapter with it in any order you like. What you should do is to keep in mind that if you for some reason would swap your pistol for another weapon and happen to die or reload the last checkpoint, you won't have the gold pistol any more. Also, triggering a checkpoint while you don't have the pistol can cause the pistol to disappear. If you would happen to lose the pistol during the game you can go back to the chapter you lost it on via Chapter Select and continue from there at any time you want. When using Chapter Select you will always start with just the gold pistol, so you're good to go. After defeating the final boss the trophy will unlock.

Shoot down the blimp above the stadium

In the first Chapter, "Duke Lives" you will come to part where you have to pick up a rocket launching weapon called the Devastator. This is where you'll face the first boss. At the same time you will enter a stadium by going up with an elevator. If you look up into the sky you can see a blimp with a sign saying "#1 in BEER" flying around above you. Shoot it down with your Devastator and wait for the trophy to pop.

Knock out the talent at the talk show

In Chapter "Damn! It's Late..." you will meet a guy named Johnny. This Johnny runs his own show, the "Damn, It's Late Show". This part is very hard to miss, the place is full with cameras and lights aimed towards the stage with a desk on it. After talking to our friend Johnny you will have to go backstage if you want to get further into the game. The first thing you will see is a guy yelling at a backstage worker. Everyone can see this guy is a total prick, and we can clearly see that Duke doesn't like him at all. As soon as you walk up to the guy, Duke will bring up his fists. This means that he's ready for a take-off. Press :r1: to give the guy a punch in the face and see him fly through the room.

Win a game of Alien Abortion in the strip club

This one is the easiest mini-game of the three and reminds pretty much of Whac-A-Mole. The Alien Abortion game is located in the Game Room of the strip club. Once you enter the main room of the strip club, you can see a doorway to the left with a sign over it saying "Game Room". Enter that doorway and continue up the small staircase. Once on the second floor, go through the doorway you can see to the right, and the Alien Abortion game is standing in the right corner. Approach it and press :square: to start it. Small aliens will pop up through the 6 holes. To kill those aliens, simply press :square: while aiming at them and they'll turn red and go back into the woman. What you want to do is complete all 5 waves of aliens, where one of the waves is a bonus round you get by having a score of at least 500 points. After you have finished the game you'll see a video on the upper part of the table of a crazy looking woman crushing an alien, causing the brain of the alien to splash out. You will be given your trophy and Ego Cap Reward #18 (see I Am All That Is Man) for winning.

Unlock the secret closet at the end of the Forkstop

The secret closet is located in the end of "The Forkstop: Part 2". After Duke has told you to stop forking around, you'll enter a big dark room with a second forklift in it. This one is hoisted as well as the first one, but you can't lower it down to the ground. That's because there's no power in the room. Continue as you should to get further into the game and you'll come to a switch which turns on the power for the room you just were in. Turn it on and go back to the room which is now lit up. As you turned the power on, Pigcops have entered the place. Kill them all until there's not more than pieces of them. Once every alien is dead, walk up to the control panel next to the forklift and press :square:. Then hold  to lower it down. Once it's on the ground floor, enter it with :square: and drive it to the wall to the right and raise the forks all the way up using :triangle:. Now, park it with the forks against the wall. Get out of the forklift and jump up on the back of it, all the way up to the top of the carriage, like if you were walking up some stairs. You will now be standing beside a balcony. Jump to the small ledge and jump over the railings. You will see a dark corridor. Turn on your Duke Vision and enter it, and you will stumble across a barrel with a heart on it. Grab the barrel back out from the corridor and jump down from the balcony. On the opposite side of the room is another balcony, and to the right of it is a platform with a green button beside it. Press the button with :square: to lower down the platform. Jump up on the safety poles around the platform to get up on it. You're now able to get up to the balcony. Once you're up you'll see a corridor which splits up in two ways. To the right is an elevator, and to the left is a closed door. Walk towards the closed door to the left and you'll see a pink heart on the floor to the right of the door. Put down the barrel and the door will open. In there you'll find lots of weapons and other items, but you will also get to hear the beautiful sound of a trophy unlock.

Defeat the Cycloid

This boss is the easiest of all. Just run in circles around him while shooting with your Devastator at him. As long as you keep running it will be almost impossible for him to hurt you. Once you run out of ammo, look for a red flare somewhere in the stadium. That's where your EDF friends dropped off some more ammo for you. They will always tell you when they're dropping ammo down, so you'll know when you can get more. After you have got the Emperor to lay down on the ground, run up to him and press :square: to climb on top of him. Hit :cross: repeatedly to rip out a cable from his back. This will cause the Cycloid to lose control over himself and die, making his eye pop out. Press :square: to score a goal with his eye.

http://bit.ly/jo4oPC Pit Champion (B)

Defeat the Battlelord in Las Vegas

You will fight this boss in the end of "Vegas In Ruins". In the middle of the pit is a big pile of dirt and asphalt. You want to use this as your cover. Run around the pile and shoot the Battlelord when possible with the RPG. Try to make it so he's always at the opposite side of the pile, that'll make it hard for him to shoot you. When you need to, run over to one of the two EDF Ammo Crates in the pit to replenish ammo. Since the RPG only holds 5 rockets at a time, you'll have to do this pretty many times, but the Battlelord won't get the time to hit you that much if you're fast when running to the crate. But make sure he's not close to you when going for the crate. Once you've damage him enough, he will fall down on the ground. Run up to him and climb up on his back using :square:. Then press :cross: repeatedly to rip out one of his horns on his head and stick it into his eye. This will make him sit down on his knees. Walk up to him and punch his nutsack like a punching bag with :square:.

http://bit.ly/kZeM9i Not Bad for a Human (S)

Defeat the Alien Queen

This boss fight takes place in "Queen Bitch". Start off with picking up the the RPG on the left side and then max out your explosives on the right side. On each side of the area are bounce pads aimed towards the Queen. Throw up a Pipe Bomb to make it bounce into the inside of her claws she uses as a shield. Once the Pipe Bombs have bounced to her, detonate it and she will make herself open for your rockets. Shoot all of your 5 rockets at her and replenish your bombs and rockets again. She will send out a Pregnator to help her kill you. Throw a Pipe Bomb or use your RPG to kill it. Repeat the process until she has about a third of her health left. The bounce pads will now close and she won't use her claws as a shield anymore. She will however start to send out Octobrains instead of Pregnators, which will cause you some more trouble. Try to be on the right side of the area when the Octobrains come, since you will have more space to move on there. Throw some Pipe Bombs at the Octobrain to kill it and fire with your RPG at the Queen. Make sure to have max Pipe Bombs before she sends out the next Octobrain. Keep doing this until she faints. When she does, run up to her and press :square:. Then press :cross: repeatedly to open her mouth and make her bite her own tongue off.

Defeat the Battlelord on the Hoover Dam

You will meet this second Battlelord at the end of "Dam Top". This boss is really easy if you know the right tactics. First off, start to run back on the highway to the EDF Ammo Crate with a taxi next to it. Place yourself behind the taxi and start fire rockets with your RPG at him. It's really hard for him to damage you, as he will always stay at the other side of the highway on this part. Once you run out of ammo for your RPG, turn left and pick up some more ammo from the Ammo Crate in front of you. Keep doing this until he can only take about 1-2 more rockets. The reason you want to leave him with a little health left is to make sure you have time to run up to him. Run towards him while taking cover behind cars, and shoot him with your rockets on the way. As he lays down, run up to him and press :square: to climb up his back. Then press :cross: repeatedly to rip off one of his horns and stick it in his head. As soon as you have finished your little :cross: bashing, run back to the taxi, but this time, hide behind the black van next to it. The Battlelord will gain all his health back, and this time he starts to move toward you, kicking away cars on the way. When he gets close you want to get his attention to make him stop by shooting a rocket at him between the van and the building to the right. Once he has stopped, throw all your Pipe Bombs at him. That will cause him a lot of damage. Turn around and run towards the pile of explosives on the sidewalk for some more Pipe Bombs. Get back to the van and throw over all four Pipe Bombs again. Keep doing this and he will soon lay down on the ground once again. Run up to him and press :square: once again. After you've climbed up on his back, press :cross: repeatedly to make him a unicorn. Once he only has one horn left he'll sit down on his knees. Walk up to him to give him some shattered testicles by pressing :square:.

http://bit.ly/lOX33J Octacide (S)

Defeat the Octaking

This boss is the hardest boss in the game. There is however a strategy to make him a lot easier to beat. If you happen to have a Shrink Ray, an extra Beer and a Holoduke, it is much easier. All those things can be found in the secret closet (see Companion Barrel) in the chapter before this fight, "The Forkstop: Part 2". First, go pick up the Devastator in on the right side of the platform. Also, be sure to break the box next to it to find a Beer if you haven't got one already. Once the Octaking sends out his little minions, shoot them with the Shrink Ray and throw a Pipe Bomb at them to kill them while taking cover in the little shelter on the right side of the platform. If you don't have the Shrink Ray you can throw Pipe Bombs at them, but they will take more bomb than if they were shrunk. When the Octabrains are dead, start to shoot with your Devastator at the Octaking to make him lose some of his life. Quickly replenish your guns and explosives from the Ammo Crate and the pile of explosives in the middle of the platform for the next wave of Octobrains. He will continue to send out his Octabrains until he has lost about a third of his life. After that he will start to throw objects found around him at you. Take cover behind the railings to avoid getting hurt. Once every object is no longer available he will start to shoot some sort of electric pulse at you. If you aim right you can destroy those by shooting at the right spot of them. Just start to unleash the power of the Devastator onto him. If you have trouble destroying the pulse, you can try going around on the platform to avoid them. Now is a great time to use your Holoduke and maybe take a Beer unless you needed it earlier to make him lose more damage. The Holoduke will make you invisible, so the Octaking will be focusing on killing your Holoduke. After some time the Octaking will have lost all his life, and he'll crash onto a balcony. From here he can't hurt you. All he will do is pull the platform towards him using electricity. As soon as his health bar starts to regenerate, unleash hell into him with your Devastator and he will die.

http://bit.ly/iqQnSG Beating the One-Eyed Worm (S)

Defeat the Leech

Note: If you're looking for a super easy way to beat this boss, skip the next paragraph to see a method that should one-hit kill it.

This boss is much easier than the last boss. Since there are no other enemies trying to kill you, this boss battle should be pretty easy for you. The only thing that makes this guy hard is that you're fighting him underwater. This makes you have to swim over those air vents in order to give Duke his oxygen so he won't die. The boss has three attacks: Shooting some sort of electric ball at you, trying to smash you, and trying to suck you into his giant mouth. All of these attacks are easily avoided by strafing to the left and right nonstop, except when you have to pick up ammo. While swimming, shoot with the RPG found next to the valve you had to turn, and when you get out of ammo, swim to one of the two EDF Ammo Crates located on the right and left side of the area. Keep doing this and you will soon be able to swim up to it and insert a bomb in it using first :square: and then pressing :cross: repeatedly.

You can also one-hit kill the boss using the following method:

Well, basically a 1 hit kill. What you'll need to do is swim up the the boss and pull the trigger. You will get frozen, your ego will drop to nothing and your screen will be flashing red but you will see the the Energy Leech's health will completely deplete while you are frozen. Once you unfreeze, all you need to do is switch to a RPG and shoot him once and that will put his health in the red flashing state so you can start the QTE event to finish him off.

Just something I stumbled upon last night completely by accident and I reloaded to verify it works everytime and wasnt just a glitch. Hopefully this is helpful for those getting really frustrated at this boss fight. If you dont have the Freeze Ray, you can get one in the previous chapter.

Credits to erspence over at the sister site for finding this, and thanks to Terminator for bringing this to my attention.

Complete the SP campaign on Insane Difficulty

:tagstackable: :tagdifficulty:

In order to unlock the Insane Difficulty you have to complete the game at least once on any other difficulty. After you've done that, I strongly recommend to find all the Ego Cap Rewards before going for this trophy. Once that's done you want to play through the game via Chapter Select. This will make you keep all your earlier progress, including those Ego Rewards, which means you will have a maxed out Ego Gauge right from the beginning. The New Game will delete all your earlier progress, making you have to find all Ego Rewards and collectibles again. What comes with the Insane Difficulty is that Duke will get killed much faster than on the other difficulties, and the bosses will also withstand a lot more damage. At some points the game can be really frustrating especially the bosses. For these you want to use good strategies, because without a strategy you're most likely dead. Thankfully you will get a lot of checkpoints throughout the game, unlike many other FPSs set on the hardest difficulty. One thing that is really bad about dying, except having to replay parts, is the loading time. It will take as much time to reload from the last checkpoint as it take for the whole chapter to load when you first start it, which is at least over a minute. There are some tips on beating the game on Insane that I'd like to share:

  • Take a lot of cover behind environmental objects as much as possible. It will save your life.
  • Take it easy and don't rush through the chapters, or it will get you killed. Also, try to keep distance between you and the aliens. Especially Pigcops as they will inflict a lot of damage if they melee you. If you shoot the Pigcops weapons out of their hands or let them recover from an execute opportunity they will go Berserk. That's a really good time to not be close to them.
  • Save your Beers and Holodukes. You want to save these for boss fights and other hard places, as it can make things a lot easier. The Beers will make Duke withstand more damage, while the Holodukes will distract the bosses and enemies and make you invisible.
  • Steroids are great for situations when there's almost nothing to cover behind. Taking steroids will make Duke faster and stronger so that you can run up to the enemies and punch them to death with his powerful fists, but it will also refill your Ego Gauge to about 75%.
  • Keep an eye out for lockers and small EDF boxes throughout the game. These can contain useful stuff such as Holodukes, beers, steroids, bombs and ammo.
  • In chapters like The Hive there are hanging EDF soldiers from the ceilings. Shoot or melee them down for bombs and ammo.
  • Save your ammo on Octababies. Try to foot stomp or melee them instead of shoot them when possible.
  • Try not to have a bad weapon combination, like an RPG and a Railgun. I'd suggest you use the Ripper and M1911 at most, as the Ripper is good at short and medium range, while the M1911 is good at medium and long range. But there's also a lot of other combinations that work good. Some people like to use the Railgun and Shotgun for example.
  • Whenever you get a Shrink Ray, save it for harder parts with Octabrains and Assault Commanders. It will make them 10 times weaker which makes parts like the double Assault Commanders in "The Duke Burger: Part 3" ridiculously easy.
  • In certain chapters, "Mothership Battle" and "Crash Course" you have to use a turret to shoot down enemy Alien Fighters. This can be really frustrating without the right tactics. What you want to do is to change the vertical and horizontal sensitivity to one. You also want to turn on Aim Assist if you have that set to Off. By doing this you can press :l1: repeatedly while aiming and shooting at the Alien Fighters.
  • In the beginning of "The Shrink Machine" you're given the Freeze Ray. If you've completed the game on Medium or harder you will have a cheat in the Extras menu called "Duke 3D Freeze Ray". If you have it, use it. It will make the original Freeze Ray shoot ice projectiles that bounce from objects and deals more damage to the enemies. The gun won't refill the ammo automatically as the original Freeze Ray, but to make sure you can keep the gun forever, simply turn off the cheat and the ammo will recover. Once you've got a fully charged Freeze Ray, turn the cheat back on and be ready to freeze some more aliens. This method is very effective when it comes to the Insane difficulty, and it will most likely help you to complete it easier. Thanks to blazenarutoshippuden for this little trick.

It has been confirmed that some of the levels are also possible to beat using cheats,

see luckyegg's Levels that can be done with invulnerability/instagib for more information on how to do.

Strategy for the last boss, the Cycloid Emperor:

In the beginning you will start with just a pistol. Soon enemy Dropships will come to drop of some Pigcops. These will drop a Shotgun or two when you kill them, which can help you kill the other pigs coming down later. They will also drop RPGs for you to use on the Cycloid. Don't pick up any of those yet, however. Keep slaughtering Pigs coming down from Dropships while running around in circles to make a huge pile of RPGs. When you feel that you've killed enough Pigs and will have enough rocket ammo, kill all of the Pigs except one. That will make so no more Pigs will drop down. Then pick up one of the RPGs and shoot at the Cycloid, still running around in circles. Also use your Pipe Bombs that you get from the Pigs. When you're out of ammo, simply run over your pile of RPGs to get more rockets and Pipe Bombs. When the Cycloid is down, run up to him and perform the Quick Time Event. Keep doing this for the next section too. After the second section, your EDF friends will drop off a Devastator together with an Ammo Crate. Run to it and pick up the Devastator, possibly as your second weapon to have both an RPG and the Devastator equipped unless you're going for the Gunslinger trophy. Start to shoot with it at the Cycloid and keep strafing close to the Ammo Crate. When you get out of ammo, use your RPG if you have it, while strafing back to the Ammo Crate. Watch out so he doesn't get too close though. He should soon lay down on the ground for the third time. Climb up on his back with :square:, rip out the cables and see his eye pop out. Then press :square: to make Duke to keep what he promised in the beginning of the fight.

Once you have defeated the final boss, the Cycloid Emperor, you will soon see the credits roll. Watch it all the way through to see the last Special Thanks. After you get to the main menu the trophy will pop.

Question. I played the game on insane til the mothership then switched:mad: to normal. When I completed the game the trophy for normal didn't pop. Any ideas why?

I have no idea. Have you checked what it says in Chapter Select? See if all chapters are completed at at least the Normal Difficulty? Have you unlocked the cheats for completing the game on Normal (Invincibility, Infinite Ammo and such)? This sounds very strange... Otherwise, couldn't you try make it through the game from "Mothership Battle" on Insane if you're aiming for the plat?

Hey m8, excellent guide! One thing I did notice, however, is that you forgot a trophy- the trophy in question is "Beating the One-Eyed Worm". Just thought I'd let you know! Thanks again for a good guide.

Thanks, and thanks for letting me know. Must have let that out when editing... :o Will fix that, thanks.:D

Yes I have unlocked the cheats for completing the game but thought you cannot use cheats on crash course on insane. I tried using invincible but it will not give me the level completed on insane.

It didn't give you the trophy for normal because you played up to the Mothership on Insane meaning you haven't completed the game on normal :)

Just go back and play till the point you switched from Insane to normal and you'll have it.

Also, cheats won't give you a level complete.. I guess they are just there for fun or to see how/where the enemies spawn for a cheat-less playthough.

For the Crash Course, there's a lot of threads about it but basically:

--Make sure Aim Assist is on (Pause menu -> Game Options).

--Get close to the ship with the crosshair and just keep pressing :l1: while you fire because it'll automatically lock onto the ship.

I used that on the Mothership Battle after numerous failed attempts and completed it the first time. Good Luck :)

Invincibility disables trophies. It might have disable your progression too then if you used that cheat since you didn't get the level completed for it. When you use cheats that will disable trophies a warning will pop up and warn you one last time that no trophies will unlock.

Shouldn't you get the trophy for Normal anyway? I mean, when you complete the game on Insane you unlock every other difficulty trophy that you didn't have before, since you then have completed the game on the required difficulty or higher for the trophies. Even though you didn't play the game on Normal, you unlock it for completing the game on Insane. The first chapters he completed on Insane should still count towards the Normal difficulty trophy, right? Or did the developers make it f:d up...?

Excellent guide. Thanks for all the hard works. :applause:

Thank you! Glad you liked it. ;)

Thanks for having a ego check list of when I should be aware of them. My first play through was mainly to enjoy the game but one gander at that part of that guide made it clear for me to just be aware of them.

Not to say the video is not great either, just something that I noticed that helped me out without having to figure out where I am. Nonetheless great guide man :)

I don't think so, since its mentioned in the guide that turning on the Big Heads cheat makes it easier to get the 30 headshots.

Is this your first guide? Its very well done! Shame I didn't give it a read yesterday when I started this game and now I missed out the Gunslinger trophy :(.

Yeah, as BreadSkin said, Big Heads won't disable cheats. There's only three cheats that does; Invincibility, Instagib and Infinity Ammo.

Thank you. It's my second actually, I've made an MJ TE guide too.:o
