Walkthrough

Step 1: Singleplayer*

Play through the story unlocking This Can't Be Real, Drivers Ed., Back on the Road, Eyes on the City, Against the Odds, Now You See Me..., Deep Cover, Another Perspective, The Truth, Survivor and End of the Road. Then complete all activities and dares unlocking Active!, Hyperactive!, Radioactive!, We Dare You..., We Double Dare You... and Master Driver.

While you are completing the story, activities and dares you should be buying all of the garages, vehicles and upgrades unlocking First Time Buyer, Keys to the City, Are You Insured?, Car Nut, Petrolhead and Tricked Out. This should also unlock Hey Big Spender!.

Collect all of the clapperboards littered around San Francisco unlocking Lights, Camera, Action!, Cut! Print It! and That's a Wrap! and complete 30 freedrive cop chases unlocking Cops & Robbers.

Finally, if you have not already, unlock The Challenger, Fan Service, Ramped Up!, Lombard Streak and Show Off.

Note: You can unlock the singleplayer trophies in any order as the game is free roam with the player activating missions to progress through the story or do activities, dares and challenges.

Step 2: Multiplayer*/**

Your main goal in Step 2 is to reach Level 38 to unlock Initiate, Veteran and Master. While you are doing this, try to unlock Air Rage, Connoiseur, Professional Racer, Picking Up the Pace, Round and Round You Go, Carry the Team, Pass the Torch, Relentless Assault, Tag, You're It!, Getting Away With It, I'm On Fire! and Stay With the Pack by completing certain objectives during each type of game mode.

Some of the multiplayer trophies are frustrating if you are doing it by yourself so I advise you to look for a boosting partner/party in the Trophy Boosting Thread.

*: Shift Happens and Due for a Service should unlock during either Step 1 or Step 2.

**: Driver: San Francisco requires a Uplay Passport to play online for longer then 48 hours and to unlock certain multiplayer modes. These come with a new copy of Driver: San Francisco or can be downloaded free off of the PSN Store (due to printing errors). You cannot platinum the game without one.

Tips:

rsel's tip on the 150m Jump dare:

rsel said:
There is an area the other side of the Golden gate bridge, where you have a massive hill coming up from an offroad area (you have to jump from it for 4 movie tokens), somewhere round about the start place for sprint race 9. If you use a hypercar, you should be able to come off this jump and clear the highway and take advantage of the downslope on the other side to get you enough distance.

KSProductions's tip on the 50 Overtakes in 60 seconds dare:

KSProductions said:
It took me a few tries, but I finally got it with the Ford GT. I did it driving past the Fisherman's Wharf garage.

I started just passed the speed dare(drive 800m in 45s - no hits) and drove towards the garage. There is a good amount of traffic through there.

Xander45's tip on the 200m Handbrake dare:

Xander45 said:
For the 200m handbrake stop use a Range Rover Sport, get up to about 130mph and then hit the handbrake (make sure to let go of the accelerator) and then use the boost once you've started to slow right down.

200 Objects in 60 seconds: Drive along the middle of a freeway, hitting the orange cones. If you hit a wall in the middle, quickly shift cars and continue at the next section of cones.

41.jpg First Time Buyer (B)

Buy your first Garage

See Keys to the City for description.

42.jpg Keys to the City (B)

Buy all of the Garages in the City

There are 10 garages in the city ranging from 5,000WP to 100,000WP. You cannot buy all of the garages until the last part of the island is unlocked in the later chapters.

Tips:

• Income can generate easy willpower. If you upgrade your income to Level 3 you can increase your income tenfold.

38.jpg Are You Insured? (B)

Buy your first Vehicle

See Petrolhead for description.

39.jpg Car Nut (B)

Buy 50 Vehicles

See Petrolhead for description.

40.jpg Petrolhead (S)

Buy all of the Vehicles from the Garage

There are 140 vehicles to buy in the game (excluding DLC vehicles). There are 50 vehicles that are locked until you complete certain activities. Buy all 140 vehicles to unlock this trophy.

Tips:

• Income can generate easy willpower. If you upgrade your income to Level 3 you can increase your income tenfold.

43.jpg Tricked Out (B)

Buy all of the Upgrades from the Garage

There are 13 upgrades in the game. Most of the upgrades will be locked until you complete certain dares. Buy all 13 upgrades to unlock this trophy.

29.jpg Lights, Camera, Action! (B)

Unlock a Movie Challenge

See That's a Wrap! for description.

30.jpg Cut! Print It! (B)

Unlock 6 Movie Challenges

See That's a Wrap! for description.

31.jpg That's a Wrap! (S)

Unlock all 13 Movie Challenges

Movie challenges are unlocked by collecting floating blue clapboards around the city (represented by blue hexagons on the minimap when you are close). Collecting 10 will unlock a movie challenge (a famous car chase from a famous movie). These can be accessed through the menu but they do not need to be completed to unlock That's a Wrap!.

Tips:

• Upgrades increase the distance in which movie challenges appear on the minimap with the 3rd upgrade showing all movie challenges regardless of distance (these need to be unlocked through dares).

48.jpg Cops & Robbers (S)

Complete 30 Freedrive Cop Chases

While driving around San Francisco, you will see blue dots on the minimap indicating a cop car. You can either shift into a cop car and ram a criminal (indicated by a red dot on the minimap) or shift into any car and ram the cop. Complete 30 freedrive cop chases as either cop or criminal to unlock Cops & Robbers.

Tips:

• Cop: Shift and use oncoming traffic to crash into the criminal or use :l1: to ram into them.

• Criminal: Try to outrun the cops on straights and through alleyways.

44.jpg Hey Big Spender! (S)

Spend 5,000,000 WP

Willpower is acquired through story missions, activities, dares, stunts, cop chases, challenges and income (every 20 minutes). Income can be increased through the buying of cars and garages and upgrades (which need to be unlocked through dares).

Hey Big Spender! should come naturally as you need over 5,000,000WP to unlock Keys to the City, Petrolhead and Tricked Out.

Tips:

• Income can generate easy willpower. If you upgrade your income to Level 3 you can increase your income tenfold.

27.jpg The Challenger (B)

Beat the Target Time/Score on any Challenge

Challenges can be accessed from the menu. Apart from Blast from the Past, you do not need to beat a target time or score on a challenge to complete it but you receive double willpower if you do. This trophy should come naturally as the Blast from the Past challenge (for the Fan Service trophy) requires you to beat the target time to complete it.

28.jpg Fan Service (B)

Complete the 'Blast from the Past' Challenge

To unlock the Blast from the Past Challenge, you must first unlock the DeLorean DMC-12 by completing Smash Activity 1. When you unlock the DeLorean, take it for a spin and hit 88mph. The Blast from the Past Challenge should unlock.

The Blast from the Past Challenge is a recreation of the first level from the first Driver. To complete it you must do certain actions during a time limit. Luckily for you, Catalyst08 has written a guide on how to do this.

Catalyst08 said:
-Accelarate away and you will cross off BURNOUT.

-Keep accelerating until SPEED is also crossed off the list.

-Immediately after press BRAKE and come to a full stop.

-Set off in reverse and get some speed, then start to turn whilst letting go of reverse and as the car swings around press the accelerator to straighten up and complete a REVERSE 180.

-Keep going forwards and turn left around the column, you then have to SLALOM your way in and out of the columns to the end going around the last column and back on yourself still weaving in and out of the columns until you reach the point where you started the SLALOM.

-Next complete a LAP around the outside of the columns.

-Whilst performing your LAP, use the HANDBREAK on one of the 4 turns.

-Finally after the LAP registers, steer into the middle of the parking structure and perform a 360 SPIN to finish up the tasks.

If you prefer video guides, VideoGamesNL has created one.

49.jpg Ramped Up! (B)

Complete a Getaway Activity in a Car Transporter

Ramped Up! is difficult, annoying and (pretty much) based entirely on luck. A transporter is a truck that has a ramp on its back for transporting cars. You need to either buy a transporter or shift into one and go and complete a Getaway Activity (most people use Getaway Activity #1 or #2).

It may not be much help but VideoGamesNL has, once again, created a video guide to help you.

Tips:

• Try to drift around corners, weave through traffic and use boost whenever you can.

50.jpg Lombard Streak (B)

Drive down Lombard Street, no collisions, over 20 mph (32 km/h) (Story)

Lombard Street is a famous street in San Francisco. If you do not know where Lombard Street is, let me point it out for you.

At each of the hairpin turns (there are 6), there are orange cones. Before you try to unlock this trophy, get a car and knock these cones over. Get a car and go to the top of the street. Start driving and turn right. Keep driving until you come up to the first hairpin turn. While going over the part where the orange cones were, turn and brake at the same time (with :l2:) and keep driving, making sure you do not go under 20mph. Now, repeat this 5 more times and turn right out of Lombard Street. To make sure it registered, continue driving until you are into the next alleyway.

If you are having a hard time picturing this, EscoBlades has uploaded a guide to YouTube.

51.jpg Show Off (B)

Perform a 250m Drift or Jump (Story/Online)

Show Off is probably one of the hardest singleplayer trophies in the game. Performing a 250m drift is and performing a 250m jump are both hard feats.

MotoGamesTV has created a video guide on how to complete a 250m drift.

Tips:

• When you start nearing the center of the wall, use boost to continue drifting around it.

rsel has written a guide on performing a 250m jump.

Prelude2disastr has given a tip on how to perform a 250m drift through the use of a glitch.

Prelude2disastr said:
1) Shift into taxi with a board on top (MUST have a board!)

2) Find a truck with a trailer (MUST have a trailer)

3) Aim to drive underneath it

4) When stuck, keep steering towards the truck (when you're sideways, aim towards the rear tyres)

5) As long as the truck doesn't stop, you'll get it in a few seconds.

larterman has given a tip on how to perform a 250m drift.

larterman said:
Get to the other side of the bay (away from the city) and shift into a Caisson Whippet (big Bus).

get to the top of one of the big off road turns going downhill and just tap the hand brake as you enter the turn.

trick is not to go too fast just keep truning through the corner and adding a little accelerator and the ass of the bus will just swinging on round, got over 270 everytime easily.

12.jpg Initiate (B)

Reach Multiplayer Level 5 (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

See Master for description.

13.jpg Veteran (S)

Reach Multiplayer Level 20 (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

See Master for description.

14.jpg Master (G)

Reach Multiplayer Level 38 (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Level 38 is the third last multiplayer level. It requires 450,000XP to reach and will likely come naturally as you try to unlock the other multiplayer trophies.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying races and the amount of time the match ran for will grant bonus XP.

• The tutorials grant easy XP (14,000XP for all) but can only be done once.

• Tag is an easy way to gain XP at higher levels. Place 1st in the qualifying race and, as soon as the match starts, gain the tag and morph into a Lamborghini. Continue driving along straight roads or through alleyways using boost when people shift behind you and using boost/braking when people shift infront of you. If done right, you can win the match 100 to nil against any amount of players.

15.jpg Air Rage (B)

Spin out 10 Vehicles with Impulse (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Impulse is unlocked at Level 8. To use impulse, shift out of your car and hold :cross: while aiming at your opponent to fill your impulse meter. When the meter is full, release :cross: while continuing to aim at your opponent. If done right, your opponent will spin out. If done wrong, you will lose half of your weapon bar. Impulse an opponent and spin them out 10 times to unlock Air Rage.

Tips:

Air Rage can be boosted with a boosting partner. Take turns allowing each other to spin each other out with impulse and each person should get this trophy within 3 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

16.jpg Connoiseur (B)

Swap or Spawn into 20 Unique Vehicles (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Swap is unlocked at Level 8 and spawn is unlocked at Level 18. Both require a full weapon bar. To swap, press :square: anytime while driving a car and it will morph into the selected car. To spawn, shift out of your vehicle and hold :square: while aiming to spawn into the selected car. You can change your selected car through Lobby > Profile > Vehicles.

Note: Currently Connoiseur is glitched. Spawning does not count towards the trophy and shifting counts towards the ingame counter. Swapping into 20 unique cars does count towards the trophy and will unlock the trophy.

17.jpg Professional Racer (B)

Place in the top 3 in Classic Race 10 times (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Classic Race can be found under Racing along with Sprint GP. Classic Race is a 2 lap circuit race with no powers apart from boost. Race and place in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd 10 times to unlock Professional Racer.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the race.

Professional Racer can be boosted in a boosting party but I recommended doing it without as it takes longer boosting.

Note: You can race any number of players. For example, you can race against 1 other person and that race will still count towards this trophy.

18.jpg Picking Up the Pace (B)

Place in the top 3 in Sprint GP 10 times (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Sprint GP can be found under Racing along with Classic Race. Sprint GP consists of 5 different sprints with 10 checkpoints per sprint with no powers apart from boost. Each sprint will give you points for where you place (eg. 10 points for 1st) and will change where you start in the next race (eg. 2nd last for 2nd). Race and place in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd 10 times to unlock Picking Up the Pace.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the first sprint.

Picking Up the Pace can be boosted in a boosting party but I recommended doing it without as it takes longer boosting.

Note: You can race any number of players. For example, you can race against 1 other person and that race will still count towards this trophy.

19.jpg Round and Round You Go (B)

Place in the top 3 in Shift Race 10 times (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Shift Race can be found under Shift Racing along with Checkpoint Rush. Shift Race is a 3 lap circuit race with all powers. Race and place in either 1st, 2nd or 3rd 10 times to unlock Round and Round You Go.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will give you a full weapon bar at the start of the race.

• If you have a better car than you are driving and have a full weapon bar, swap your car ASAP.

• If you have crashed, switch to a different car ASAP.

Round and Round You Go can be boosted in a boosting party but I recommended doing it without as it takes longer boosting.

Note: You can race any number of players. For example, you can race against 1 other person and that race will still count towards this trophy.

20.jpg Carry the Team (B)

Score 10 times in Capture the Flag (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Capture the Flag can be found under Team along with Blitz. Capture the Flag consists of 2 rounds of 2 teams fighting over a flag and trying to return it to their base. Damage is increased and once your car is wrecked, you drop the flag. Return the flag to your base 10 times to unlock Carry the Team.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the first round and give you a full weapon bar.

• You can pick the flag up after you drop it and your car is destroyed if you shift quickly to another vehicle and drive through the flag.

Carry the Team can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns capturing the flag without any contention and each person should get this within 5 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

21.jpg Pass the Torch (B)

Carry the Torch for 20s, 25 times in Relay Race (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Relay Race can be found under Team Racing along with Team Rush. In Relay Race, a player picks up the torch and carries it for up to 20 seconds (indicated by a fuel meter) until the torch is either dropped after 20 seconds or passed when another player touches the carrier. This repeats a few times until the torch reaches the last checkpoint.

Pass the Torch requires you to hold the torch for 20 seconds. To be certain you held the torch for 20 seconds, carry the torch until you drop the torch and your car is destroyed. Do this 25 times to unlock this trophy.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the race and give you a full weapon bar.

• You can pick the torch up after you drop it and your car is destroyed after 20 seconds if you shift quickly to another vehicle and drive through the torch.

Pass the Torch can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns allowing each other to carry the torch for 20 seconds, dropping it and carrying it again for 20 seconds. Each person should get this trophy in 5 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

22.jpg Relentless Assault (B)

Successfully attack the base 10 times in Blitz (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Blitz can be found under Team along with Capture the Flag. Blitz consists of a round of attacking a base and a round of defending a base. The attacking team must spawn into a car outside of the score zone and drive the car into the opponents' base without being hit by any opponents. The defending team must spawn into a car inside the score zone and smash the opponent's cars. Attack the opponents' base 10 times to unlock Relentless Assault.

Tips:

Relentless Assault can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns attacking the base 10 times until the game is won. Everyone should get this trophy within 4 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

23.jpg Tag, You're It! (B)

Keep the Tag for 10s, 50 times in Tag (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Tag can be found under Free for All along with Trailblazer. Tag consists of a tagged car holding the tag and escaping from opponents trying to steal the tag from the tagged car. You need to hold the tag for 10 seconds 50 times to unlock this trophy.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the race and give you a full weapon bar.

• When you first get the tag, you have a short invulnerability where you will keep the tag if someone tags you. Use this time to get away from opponents, pick up speed and/or swap vehicles.

Tag, You're It! can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns holding the tag for 11 seconds and then tagging the next person. Each person should get this within 6 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

24.jpg Getting Away With It (B)

Reach 25 drop-off locations in Takedown (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Takedown can be found under Takedown. Takedown consists of one player being the getaway and driving to various drop-off locations (marked on the minimap by a yellow dot) while one or more players become the cops and try to stop the getaway by wrecking their car. There are 5 drop-off locations per round. Reach 25 to unlock this trophy.

Tips:

Getting Away With It can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns reaching the 5 drop-off locations without any contention and each person should get this within 5 games. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

25.jpg I'm On Fire! (B)

Stay in both trails for 30s in Trailblazer (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Trailblazer can be found under Free for All along with Tag. Trailblazer consists of a DeLorean DMC-12 driving around leaving a trail while players fight to stay in the trail and gain points. This trophy requires you to stay in both trails for 30 seconds during 1 match. Staying in both trails is cumulative in 1 match and is easier if you use a large vehicle (for example, a transporter).

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the race and give you a full weapon bar.

I'm On Fire! can be boosted in a boosting party. Take turns staying in both trails of the trailblazer for 30 seconds. Each person should get this trophy within 1 game. (Trophy Boosting Thread).

26.jpg Stay With the Pack (B)

Score 1000 gates in Checkpoint/Team Rush (Public)

Unobtainable due to server closure

Checkpoint Rush can be found under Shift Racing and Team Rush can be found under Team Racing. Both modes require you to drive through a checkpoints to earn points over a certain amount of time. Both modes will give around 100 checkpoints per match. Drive through 1000 checkpoints to unlock Stay With the Pack.

Tips:

• Placing 1st in the qualifying race will place you as 1st at the start of the race and give you a full weapon bar.

Stay With the Pack can be boosted in a boosting party but I recommended doing it without as it takes longer boosting.

46.jpg Shift Happens (S)

Shift 1000 times (Story/Online)

This will likely come naturally. Shifting 1000 times will likely happen while unlocking singleplayer or multiplayer trophies If not, go to singleplayer and keep shifting from car to car until you have done this 1000 times.

47.jpg Due for a Service (S)

Drive over 1000 miles (~1610 km) (Story/Online)

This will likely come naturally. Driving 1000 miles will likely happen while unlocking singleplayer or multiplayer trophies. If not, go to singleplayer and drive along the highways until Due for a Service has unlocked.

Congratulations, you ARE the wheelman! You ARE the Wheelman will unlock when all other trophies have been unlocked. This platinum isn't too hard but it's another platinum to your trophy count.

Here's a couple of tips for the last few dares. For the 200m handbrake stop use a Range Rover Sport, get up to about 130mph and then hit the handbrake (make sure to let go of the accelerator) and then use the boost once you've started to slow right down. You should do this very easily.

For the 150m jump use any high spec sports car and get up to full speed on the long straight heading to the golden gate bridge, down there are two grass ramps in the middle of the road. Don't just jump off them, use Ram (L1) and let go just before taking off, this usually stops you from spinning over and helps you land it.

If anyone wants to suggest any tips/descriptions/anything for a trophy, just post.

Mods, the reason I posted this early is so I can get suggestions, tips, etc. before I submit this and it is complete instead of missing stuff until after.

-going to bed. will return tomorrow to complete. if you want to help me, I need help with the Show Off trophy and finding out what missions make the story trophies pop.

This is not how it works. You need to post a guide with more information than this. What this tells me is that you don't have the information or don't know the information. It is fine to take suggestions for your guides but not to the extent that you need. Over half of the information is missing. Contact a GT member when you are capable of completing this properly.

edit: Opened per request. Please get it finished within 24 hours. Thanks.

  • 2 weeks later...

do I see a little competition here between which guide gets accepted :p

I just posted my guide in the Submit form, so yeah...

You got a good guide trough, but I just have a different style, I like to keep it short and simple, and if there is a video, not take much time in text because they will directly click play on the video anyways...
