Introduction

The DmC series is back! This time it's a reboot of the series, so forget everything you knew about past DmC games. You take on the role of Dante, a half demon half angel. Throughout the game you will be fighting demons to rid the world of their control, so there can be freedom. If you enjoy hack 'n' slash games, this might be a good pick for you!

The platinum isn't easy, but it isn't impossible either. You have to complete the game at least 6 times to get the platinum, as you have to play each difficulty in order to unlock the next one. You have to complete it on Human, Son of Sparda, Dante Must Die, Heaven and Hell, Hell and Hell and Nephilim. All of them are unique in their own way, such as in Hell and Hell you die in one hit, whereas in Heaven and Hell you kill demons in one hit but also die in one hit. That is the bulk of the game in terms of trophies. There are also trophies for collecting all the collectibles; 80 Lost Souls, 21 Keys and 21 Doors. If you follow the Collectible Guide you should have no trouble finding all of them.

*WARNING*

The prices of items increase every time you buy one. Save your devil trigger and vital stars for Son of Sparda or Dante Must Die. Also feel free to spend your Gold Orbs during boss fights. On Heaven or Hell and Hell and Hell you will automatically get 3 gold orbs at every checkpoint so that you have three lives.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete the game on Human difficulty

The first step is pretty much just to complete the game, don't worry about trophies for now. Just enjoy the storyline and this awesome game!

You cannot get all the lost souls, keys and doors on the first run because you won't have the weapons and upgrades to do so. Just focus on learning the controls and the combos you like best; mixing attacks up has the best results. This step should only take about 6 hours or so if you watch the cutscenes. One thing you should look out for in this are the mission specific trophies and other miscellaneous trophies, but you will more than likely get some of them in your other playthroughs anyway.

Step 2: Complete the Son of Sparda difficulty, collect all the collectibles and complete all secret missions

The second step is to complete the game on Son of Sparda, this is just a rise in difficulty and is not that hard at all. You also want to collect all of the collectibles in this step: there are 80 Lost Souls, 21 Keys and 21 Doors. Follow the Collectible Guide for all their locations. Some of the doors require keys from later missions, so you will need to do some backtracking here and there. Just replay the missions you are missing doors on after collecting all the other collectibles or do it on your Dante Must Die playthrough. Don't spend too many items on this playthrough. You might want to save them for Dante Must Die to make your life a little easier later on.

The next part is completing all 21 secret missions, all are fairly easy. These can be accessed from the main menu or by going through the secret doors in the story.

Step 3: Complete the game on Dante Must Die

This difficulty is the hardest part of the game. It's an extreme version of Son of Sparda. Enemy spawns are even more extreme and enemies can go into devil trigger mode. Enemies can take even more damage and you die more quickly. In this step you can make use of all your health and devil trigger items as well as gold orbs. After Dante Must Die you will unlock infinite Devil Trigger anyway and on the remaining difficulties you die in one hit. Save the items for the end of the game if you can. Mission 16 and 17 are the hardest and the Vergil bossfight might also require some devil trigger stars. After this step you will earn "Super Dante" which gives you infinite devil trigger for upcoming playthroughs.

Step 4: Complete the game on Heaven and Hell

Note: Make sure you enable 'Super Dante' in the Skins/Perks screen. This will make this playthrough much easier as you'll have unlimited devil trigger. To unlock this you must complete the Dante Must Die difficulty.

This is the easist difficulty in the game. All enemies die in one hit and now that you have completed Dante Must Die you will have infinite devil trigger. Really all you need to do is to activate devil trigger by pressing :l3: + :rs: and shoot enemies with your pistol. This playthrough is the fastest one and will just take a few hours. Do not worry if you are being hit. You don't need to buy gold orbs, they automatically refill at every checkpoint and are completely free! Therefore you actually have three lives and can take three hits.

Step 5: Complete the game on Hell and Hell

Note: Make sure you enable 'Super Dante' in the Skins/Perks screen. This will make this playthrough much easier as you'll have unlimited devil trigger. To unlock this you must complete the Dante Must Die difficulty.

This is the highest difficulty in the game. Enemies have full health and you die in one hit. Your Gold Orbs refill at every checkpoint, so that you have three lives. Always use your infinite devil trigger. After activating devil trigger, enemies will be floating in the air and you can finish them off with air combos or keep shooting them for a while. During boss fights you will definitely need the gold orbs, so try to save them for there. Also activate devil trigger during boss fights, as you will deal a lot more damage then and the fights become a lot easier. See this thread if your having trouble with any of the bosses:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dmc-devil-may-cry/186483-dmc-devil-may-cry-hell-hell-boss-walkthroughs.html

Step 6: SSS Ranks on Nephilim

You will be a DmC pro now after all those playthroughs, so getting SSS ranks on Nephilim won't be that hard. Don't use items, don't use super Dante, don't die, do long combos without being hit and beat the levels very quickly to get the overall SSS rank. If you do get hit but want to keep your SSS combo, press :start: and quit to the main menu. This way it doesn't count as a death and you'll still have your combo. You will automatically get SSS rank for the completion stat as you already have all the collectibles.

Vergil Boss Fight Tactics and Video without being hit:

[spoiler=dmcvergilboss]

Vergil is very quick, but he will become vulnerable when attacking. Use Angel Evade a lot to dodge incoming attacks. Hit him with your sword whenever you have a chance. Using Osiris Shredder will break his defense and he will immediately start an attack. His most dangerous move is where he throws multiple blades in quick succession. You can either counter a blade to throw it back at him or jump in the air and use the glide ability. At the end of the fight you should make use of your shotgun. Jump around, use Angel Evade and attack when he is charging up an attack. Before you can land the final hit you have to activate Devil Trigger to get rid of Vergil's clone.

Complete a level without taking any damage

Location: Mission 15 - The Trade

Mission 15 is very short and none of the enemies have to be fought. All you have to do in this mission is to clear the path for a car. When you encounter enemies (you will encounter two sets, one by the boat propeller and one in the streets after pulling the truck) just run past them and concentrate on the main objective. Make sure that you never fall down, it will cause you damage and you would have to restart the last checkpoint.

Complete Furnace of Souls without taking damage from the furnace

Location: Mission 17 - Furnace of Souls

During the entire 17th mission you may not be damaged by the fire that is emitted from the ground every 7 seconds. The fire can only damage you while you are in the air, so do your best to move between platforms very quickly. While standing on solid ground you are safe. Restart the last checkpoint immediately if you fall down or are damaged by the fire. During the fight sequences, make sure that you are not pushed into the fire by your enemies. The trophy will unlock after the mission is over.

Location: Mission 1 - Found

After walking past a lost soul, you will come to an area with a big hurricane ride (some sort of carousel that is spinning in the air). The screen will say "Death" and 10 enemies will spawn. Lure the enemies below the hurricane ride and press :circle: to launch them into the air. They will die instantly if the hurricane ride hits them. Do this to all 10 enemies to unlock the trophy.

Location: Mission 6 - Secret Ingredient

Immediately after the mission starts you will have to reach the end of the descent within 2 minutes. It's recommended to attempt this trophy on Human (easy) difficulty because enemies will die after just a few hits. There are a total of 10 enemies. Make sure to kill all of them and open the door at the end of the descent within the 2 minute limit.

Location: Mission 16 - The Plan

Towards the end of the 16th mission you will come to a corridor with several laser barriers. To get past them you need to vary your jump height and use your floating skill ( :l2: + :cross: ). For one barrier you must use the floating skill from the ground, without jumping. If you touch a barrier you can still restart the checkpoint and try it again. Be careful the Dream Runner part way through doesn't hit you into the lasers.

Mission 15 is very short and none of the enemies have to be fought. Cut scenes don't influence your total mission time. It doesn't matter if you watch or skip them. There are three types of firearms:

  • Ebony & Ivory (Pistols, unlocked in mission 1)
  • Revenant (Shotgun, unlocked in mission 11)
  • Kablooey (Explosive Projectiles, unlocked in mission 16)

Kills are cumulative and are counted across all your playthroughs, on all difficulties. If you still don't have this after getting every other trophy, you can farm kills in mission 10 on Heaven or Hell difficulty. At some point during the boss fight you will be playing the game via a news camera. There will be an infinite spawn of demons, simply use the Fireworks skill will the Revenant (:square: + :cross:) or use Ebony and Ivory's using the same combination of buttons. Make sure to set your difficulty to Human (easy) difficulty and start mission 11. In the very beginning you will have to fight several Stygians. Start with two Arbiter Tremor attacks ( :r2: + :circle: ), followed by an Osiris Karma attack ( :l2: + :triangle: ). Switch to the Aquila for a few strikes and you should already have the SSS bonus. Try to hit as many enemies as possible with every attack and avoid repeating the same move. Restart the mission if all enemies die before you get the SSS Style Rank. There is a good chance that you will unlock this trophy naturally over time.

Avoid being hit and don't use the same move too often. You can keep track of your progress by going to Extras > Trophies in the Main Menu. This isn't 1,500 cumulative style points, this is 1,500 style moves.

Complete all missions on the Son of Sparda difficulty

This is a step up from Nephilim. You lose a lot more health when struck and enemies take more damage to kill. The enemy spawns have also been increased drastically and stronger enemies will spawn early on.

See Devils never cry for some general fighting tactics and the best moves to stay alive.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/750/FB3.jpg Devils never cry (G)

Complete all missions on the Dante Must Die difficulty

Important: Make sure to complete this difficulty before Hell and Hell to get "Super Dante" (infinite devil trigger).

This difficulty mode is unlocked after completing the game on Son of Sparda.

Dante Must Die is the most extreme mode in the game in terms of enemy spawns and the amount of damage they take to kill. You take less hits as well so you will be dying a lot if you're not evading. On this playthrough, you can spend all your vital stars (health items) and devil trigger stars. Enemies can also go into devil trigger mode which makes it harder to knock them off their feet.

General fighting techniques & helpful moves:

  • One of the most helpful moves is the Eryx Stomp. Most enemies cannot hit you while in the air. You can keep spamming it over and over again and it will hit lots of enemies at once. It works against every type of grounded enemy. To perform this move hold down :r2: + :circle: for a few seconds while in the air.
  • Another fantastic attack is the Aquila Round Trip, :l2: + :circle:. It can be used to stun enemies. Works great against blue ghost rage cats.
  • Ninjas (Dreamrunners) require a little different approach. Wait until they jump out of their portal, evade quickly and if they miss their attack, they are vulnerable for a short period of time. Attack them with a few normal Eryx strikes or your sword. When they use their portal, you can also hold down :r2: + :triangle: and release the buttons at the same moment they jump out. This will counter their attack and you can deal some crazy damage.
  • Blue enemies take a while to kill because your Angel weapons are very weak. Try to kick them off a ledge or cliff for a quick environmental kill. The Aquila Tornado works very well, hold down :l2: + :triangle:.
  • Red enemies can easily be killed with the above described Eryx Stomp or other Devil attacks. All these attacks deal great damage.
  • Witches can get a little annoying when they throw their red spears. Wait until they pass their shield to another enemy and then attack them with Demon attacks.
  • Flying enemies don't have much health. Use Ophion Angel Lift, :l2: + :square:, to get up to them and keep attacking with your sword.

Complete all missions on the Heaven or Hell difficulty

This difficulty mode is unlocked after completing the game on Son of Sparda.

Heaven or Hell is the easist difficulty in the game. All enemies die in one hit and now that you have completed Dante Must Die you will have infinite devil trigger. Really all you need to do is to activate devil trigger by pressing :l3: + :rs: and shoot enemies with your pistol. This playthrough is the fastest one and will just take a few hours. Your gold orbs will refill automatically at every checkpoint and they don't cost money. You have three lives per checkpoint.

Complete all missions on the Hell and Hell difficulty

This difficulty mode is unlocked after completing the game on Heaven or Hell.

Hell and Hell is the highest difficulty in the game. Enemies have full health and you die in one hit. Your gold orbs will refill automatically at every checkpoint and they don't cost money. You have three lives per checkpoint. During fights always use your "Super Dante" (infinite devil trigger) ability that you got for beating the game on Dante Must Die. After activating devil trigger, enemies will be floating in the air and you can finish them off with air combos or keep shooting them for a while. Also activate devil trigger during boss fights. You will deal a lot more damage and the fights become a lot easier.

Complete all missions on the Nephilim difficulty with a SSS rank

Note: The SSS ranks have to be on Nephilim difficulty, if you have gotten an SSS rank on another difficulty it will not count towards this trophy. You will get point deductions each time you die or restart a checkpoint or when using items or special abilities such as Super Dante. If you have Super Dante unlocked then you need to deactivate it in the overview screen before starting a mission.

Your final score is judged on 3 things:

  • Score: Your score is judged by how you killed enemies and what multiplier you had when you attacked / killed the enemy. If you don't get hit, your multiplier will keep going up and up depending on what moves you are using. Don't use the same move more than twice in a row. Eventually it will go up to SSS-Sensational!, which means you'll be getting the highest multiplier towards your score.
  • Time: This is how quickly you completed the mission. You want to try and finish as quickly as you can to get the best time. As you will be going for this trophy last, you should know most missions like the back of your hand so you won't have any trouble with this.
  • Completion: This is how many of the keys, lost souls and doors you have found in the level. As you will have already collected all the collectibles in a prior playthrough, you'll always get 100% here and a SSS rank in that stat. Collectibles do not respawn and do not need to be collected again - you will get SSS each time in this category.

Wow. Totally unexpected Harry! Amazing guide, and great job on the vids Powerpyx.

Also, just one thing referring to your introduction.. This DmC isn't a prequel, and was never intended to be.. Ninja Theory even said themselves that it's a straight up reboot(almost as if the other games didn't exist).. besides you can't have a prequel where Dante's half angel/demon when in the other games he was half demon/human. Other than that, I may just change my mind and work on the plat now since you made the guide.

Per playthrough you will need 5-7 hours, depending on the difficulty.

With super dante and one-hit kills (Heaven or Hell difficulty) it's about 2 hours.

If you are going for the collectibles it takes another 2 hours extra.

Okay, thanks.

Edit: also, thanks for the guide. Also, one more question. In difficulty, is this game harder than the previous DMC game?

For "It's Only Rain" you don't have to do it one go. It's cumulative. Like every X/XXXX trophy in the game, which is nice.

I've also ran into a bottleneck using PowerPyx's guide. Through his Guide, going in order will mean you'll have to skip over Mission 8 because you'll be short 1 Copper Key. There might be more problems like this later on as well.

Well you CAN still make one lol... Make things more interesting and may the best guide win!

I know I can, after all the same happened with MGS4. But I still have 8 days to finish my exams. And probably one more week until I finish the game and write the guide.

Well if I see that I make a considerably better guide than this one, otherwise I'll only post the strategy guide I plan to make for Hell or Hell.

By far the easiest DmC I'd say. It's actually pretty easy because enemies are very slow in this game and most of them cannot attack you while you are in the air. You can keep spamming the same move over and over again without being hit. There is a very userfriendly checkpoints system, the items are pretty cheap and you will even get infinite devil trigger for beating Dante must Die - which makes you unstoppable.

Yup, that's inevitable. Will happen to a few other doors too. They have a really weird collectible system in this game. I don't understand why they didn't just put the keys in the missions where the doors are. Some backtracking is required for sure. Just open the doors on your next playthrough... you'll need plenty of playthroughs anyway :p

Don't forget the fact that an enemy can't and won't attack you if they're not on screen, People can take some real advantage of that to make it even easier during some fights.

Yes, this actually happened in some other DmC games like with the boss battle with the flying blade enemies in DMC4.

You are a great guide writer, so either way have fun and I am sure you will work out something nice!

If you decide to just make a strategy guide for Hell and Hell then we'll be happy to link that in the trophy guide if you want :)

It doesn't really matter what difficulty you start on. They're all ridiculously easy.

They really are. They made it way too easy this time. Heaven or Hell is ridiculous.

I doubt I can find better videos than yours out there to "rival" this guide so most likely I'll pass... But wait on that strategy guide ;)
