Road Map:

Overview:

-Estimated trophy difficulty: 7/10 (personal opinion, purely because of the Tumbling Down trophy).

-Offline (breakdown): 10 (7 (B), 3 (S))

-Online (breakdown): 0

-Approximate amount of time to 100%?: 5-8 hours (depending on how long it takes you to find the Power Cells and finish Tumbling Down).

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed?: 1.

-Number of missable trophies?: None.

-Glitched trophies?: See the WARNING and GLITCH NOTES in the Introduction.

-Does difficulty affect trophies?: No so set the difficulty to Casual for an easier ride.

-Do cheat codes disable trophies?: Yes and they disable saving as well. Just like in the main game, you unlock cheats by unlocking certain trophies.

Introduction:

The Demons of the Badlands is set 20 years prior to the start of the main game and sees you in control of Sam before she was a part of the Red Faction. You can finish the Campaign in 3-4hrs, but the other trophies will take up to another 4-5hrs on top of that. The bulk of the trophies aren't that hard, just a little time consuming but Tumbling Down is a pain thanks to some annoying glitches. The only other trophies that may give you trouble are Power of One and Ares' Bloodlust. The reason being, trying to find the 75 Power Cells and 4 Marauder War Totems you need without a map is very difficult.

WARNING:

  • Since November 2012 all the DLCs for this game have had a nasty habit of randomly disappearing then reappearing only to disappear again days or weeks later. If you ever go into the store and can't find them, wait a few days/weeks and they will reappear again. The DLCs are region locked so don't bother trying to download them from a different PS Store, as that won't work. Thankfully there is a workaround for this courtesy of TheLastNinja:

    TheLastNinja said:
Just a heads up. If you go to "Downloadable Content" at the Main Menu, you can enter the Playstation Store from in-game. This launches the old Playstation Store with all 3 RF: G DLCs available.

This workaround may not always work, you have been warned.

  • If you have the BLES 00498 version of the game then there is no DLC available nor an in-game store (credit to brudnaharriet for some of the above info and all the info below). Since this release may not have got the 1.04 patch, there's a chance some of the trophies may be glitchier than what we state below.

Here's some additional info on the above problem, that also relates to the Red Faction Collection Retail disc:

    brudnaharriet said:
Ok some new info if anyone still need them. At the moment 24.12.2015 looks like only UK Store have 3 DLCs for Red Faction Guerrilla. I put my hand on the Red Faction Collection (Guerilla & Armageddon + All DLC). Inside the box is code for all DLC. If you try use it on for example Poland PS Store you see you can download 7 DLCs - for Armageddon & RF Battlegrounds but not for Guerrilla. If you use same code in UK PS Store you can download 10 DLCs (+ 3 DLCs to Guerrilla). The best part is you can use this DLCs in any Europe region but to do this you need:

1.Create a second account and set country as England
2.Install Red Faction Guerrilla on that account + patch to 1.04 no matter what version i.e BLES 00496 or BLES 00592.
3.Go to England PS Store and use code from RF Collection
4.Download any Guerrilla DLC you need, it will be installed into the game
5.After install is complete switch to you main account.
6.Now you can play RF: G with DLC installed
If you don't have RF Collection code, the simply buy the DLCs from UK Store and follow steps 4-6.

Also note that the in-game store for some countries, only contains the MP DLCs and not the Demons of the Badlands story DLC.

GLITCH NOTES:

Technically no trophies in this DLC are glitched but it is very buggy all the same with a poor Frame-Rate, overly sensitive vehicle handling (even more so than the main game) and other irritations which will make getting certain trophies awkward. For most of the trophies these glitches aren't much of a problem but for ones like Tumbling Down that require precision timing to get, then you will have problems.

General notes:

  • Do not start this DLC until after you have finished the main game mission "Manual Override" as this DLC contains massive spoilers. To access this DLC after downloading it, from the Main Menu go: Downloadable Content => "Demons Of The Badlands". You also need the 1.04 patch installed before you can play this DLC.

  • All the pictures used in this guide were taken by myself.

Step 1: Tumbling Down, Deliverance Defender and Structural Integrity

Doing these trophies first will make your life a lot easier in the long run because you will have most of the weapons and upgrades unlocked, you will also be able to start the final mission that little bit sooner due to having already reduced EDF control to zero.

Step 2: Campaign trophies

The Campaign trophies shouldn't cause you any real problems but the final section of the "A Greater Purpose" trophy is tricky and may take a few tries before you successfully complete it. If you need an ammo refill or want to change weapons, then look for the Ultor crates which are lying around. These are represented by a white square with a black mark on it on the Minimap. If you need any additional help with the Campaign trophies, then see this playlist by SSoHPKC: LINK

(although this playlist is for the Xbox 360 version, the info is still valid).

Step 3: Collectible, Pro-time and other trophies

This step is relatively straightforward as all you have to do is find 75 Marauder Power Cells and demolish the 4 Marauder War Totems. The Power Cells can be a pain to find as many are hidden inside and on the side of the many Structures in the valley. You could do Steps 2+3 at the same time but I recommend leaving The Power of One until last as it can get pretty dull trying to find the Power Cells.

Step 4: Clean up

The one trophy that you may not have by this point is Mobile Bombs. The fastest way to grind out any remaining kills for this trophy is to replay the Heavy Metal Marauder Action a couple of times.

Trophy Guide:

52.jpg Bound By Blood (B)

Complete Rescue.

Story Related, can't be missed.

Your first mission is directly in front of you and is marked by a red flare (if you look on the map, you will see it marked by the sign of the Marauders):

GNkT49O.png

Rescue:

[spoiler=BBB]For this mission you have to rescue Sam's sister Vasha from an EDF base. Get into the nearby truck and follow the marker on your Minimap to get to the base. To get into the base, you will have to destroy a gate so chuck a load of remote charges at it and detonate them. Once it has been destroyed, you can move out. Unfortunately your progress will be blocked again by a Forcefield further down the road so find the controls and disable it but watch out for EDF Soldiers.

After disabling the Forcefield you will have to destroy another gate. Vasha will be in a building near the back of the base so get in there and free her. After she is freed, you will get a checkpoint and have to man some nearby turrets to fight off the EDF, as it turns out this whole thing was a trap. Defeat the ambush, then the mission will end and the trophy will pop.

For finishing this mission you will get: remote charge count (you can now place 8 charges), the Rocket Launcher and the Personnel Detector. After the Load Screen, you will be back at the South Eastern most Safehouse.

Complete Retribution.

Story Related, can't be missed.

Retribution:

[spoiler=FV]For this mission I strongly recommend you bring both the Rocket Launcher and the Missile Pod.

Your mission this time is to assassinate an EDF Captain called Saul Marius who is in charge of the Mariner Valley. To get to Saul you will have to scale some decidedly shaky structures, then when you are at the top, make your way to the base where he's hiding. Once you reach the building where he's hiding, you will be told to kill not just Saul but his bodyguards as well. One or two Missiles is all it will take to kill each person. After Saul is dead, you will have run like crazy to escape the flood of enemies that will be coming your way. Retrace your steps, get into a vehicle and get back to the rendezvous point but watch out for the EDF vehicles that will be following you.

Finishing this mission will unlock the following: Remote charge count (you can now place 12 charges), Rocket Launcher Ammo capacity increase and the Quantum Multiplier (increases the number of Singularity Bombs you can carry.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/54.jpg A Greater Purpose (S)

Complete Redemption.

Story Related, can't be missed.

Redemption (Liberation mission):

[spoiler=AGP]Your mission is to free the prisoners that the EDF are holding but there is a snag - your sister has gone crazy and will kill not only the EDF but the prisoners as well. To gain access to the internment camp where the prisoners are being held, you have to overload the 4 Terminals that control the Forcefield that's blocking your way. To get to each Terminal, you have to destroy the door that blocks entrance to it - your Sledgehammer will do the job. Once you've started an overload, you will have 5 seconds to get away from that Terminal before it blows and takes you with it.

Now that the Forcefield is down, make your way to the first camp and free the prisoners there. You will get a Checkpoint once you're near to where the Forcefield used to be. Getting into the camp will not be easy as the EDF will be swarming all over it, and the road that leads up to it has a massive roadblock on it. Here is how to access the side routes so you can easily destroy the turrets:

AOzJVpj.png

(The crossed Yellow line indicates where the access points are).

These paths will allow you to flatten all the Turrets and clear the way for you to drive into the main complex. Once past the roadblock, you will call Vasha and ask for more time but she will say you're out of time. This is not good so get to the main complex ASAP!

The front entrance has a dirty great wall and two Guard Towers in front of it so flatten them. After gaining entry, you will hear Vasha on the radio telling her troops to attack and that you're expendable. Cells are at the back of the complex but make sure you only use your :l1: Sledgehammer attack on the cell doors else you will kill the prisoners, killing more than a couple of which will fail the mission. Once you've freed the last prisoner, you will be told to free the prisoners in camp number 2.

Getting into the second camp is a lot easier than the first but we recommend destroying the Guard Towers and the Priority targets first before rescuing the Prisoners. The cell block is in the centre of the complex, when you get there you discover there is only one prisoner to rescue. After untying the prisoners' hands, he will tell you about another prisoner that needs rescuing.

Now you get to have some fun as your next objective is to commandeer an unguarded Tank the EDF has left lying around. Approaching the Tank will trigger a Checkpoint. Get in the Tank, follow the markers to where Hugo Davis is being held and blow the heck out of everything and anything that gets in your way!

Once you reach the base where Hugo is, just plough through the entire base but stop when you reach the building where he's being held. Now get out of the Tank, kill any remaining EDF personnel then untie Hugo's hands and take him to the vehicle that's been marked on your Minimap. This next section sees you taking control of the APC's turret, all you have to worry about is taking out the EDF vehicles as someone else will be driving.

The mission will end after you finish talking to Vasha on the radio, the trophy will pop soon afterwards. Finishing this mission will unlock the Super Gauss Rifle. After the cutscene you will be at the South Eastern most Safehouse and free to get any outstanding trophies.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/55.jpg Deliverance Defender (S)

Complete Marauder Actions.

There are a total of 11 Guerrilla Actions:

6 Demolition Masters

2 Transporters

1 Heavy Metal

1 House Arrest

1 Guerrilla Raid

See Tumbling Down for video guides showing how to do the Demolition Master and Transporter Guerrilla Actions. Also, see the guide for the Main Game for tips on how to complete the other 3 Action types. Unlike the Main Game there are no missions sent via Radio, which makes this trophy a lot easier this time around.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/56.jpg Tumbling Down (B)

Beat all Pro times in Mariner Valley Demo Masters and Transporters.

Note: Whilst you can get away with just equalling the Pro times for the Demolition challenges, you have to come in under the Pro time for the Transporter challenges. This is the complete opposite of the main game, because there it didn't matter if you equalled the times or not. Credit to servus99 for this info.

See the following videos for details:

Demo Master:

Tips: The only advice I can offer for this challenge is to watch where you shoot, because the barrels have a nasty tendency to bounce in your direction after being shot at.

Tips: You have to be spot on with your timing here on when and where you exit the Armoured Car, else you will either go flying off the edge of the cliff to your death or get blown up. The iffy framerate in the PS3 version coupled with the overly sensitive vehicle handling makes this one of the hardest of challenges to get right.

Tips: The PS3 version of this mission is a lot buggier than the PC one shown in the video. The main problem is some of the hydrogen tanks cannot be picked up and the iffy framerate makes targeting difficult but it is still possible.

Tips: The key to getting this right is manoeuvring the Walker into the exact spot shown in the video, anywhere else and the tower won't land where it should.

Tips: This is another really annoying challenge, because you have to be precise in where you shoot the Rockets else they won't fall correctly. It also doesn't help that the Rockets in the PS3 version seem to have a slight accuracy problem at anything beyond close range, this means you will have to get in a little bit closer then how it is in the video.

Tips: Other than following the video there's nothing I can really say about this.

Credit to bystanderg for the videos (although these are for the PC version, the info is still valid).

Transporter:

Unfortunately I can only find a single video for this and it's for the first vehicle, no video exists for the second vehicle:

Tips: All I can say about these is practice makes perfect but watch out for the Frame-Rate drops as these will make avoiding obstacles difficult.

Credit to Randy2727 for the video (although this video is for the Xbox 360 version, the info is still valid).

See here for a text Guide to the second Transporter mission (credit to Normandy114 for this): LINK

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/57.jpg Mobile Bombs (B)

Destroy 100 EDF vehicles.

You will destroy a lot of vehicles before you finish the Campaign so I wouldn't worry about this too much. If you haven't got it before Liberating the Mariner Valley, then replay the Heavy Metal Guerrilla Action a couple of times as you have to destroy 35 vehicles to complete it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/58.jpg Structural Integrity (B)

Destroy all Medium and High Priority Targets in Mariner Valley.

This picture/map shows the location of every Priority Target in the Valley:

fmUJyoi.jpg

To destroy these buildings use any of the following:

  • Rocket Launcher
  • Missile Pod
  • Remote Charges
  • Sledgehammer

Going anywhere near these buildings will bring the EDF down on you so destroy the buildings quickly and get out of there.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/59.jpg Purge the Valley (B)

Break the EDF Control of the Mariner Valley.

Story Related, can't be missed.

You have to reduce EDF Control to zero anyway to unlock the Liberation mission "Redemption". As with the main game, to reduce Control, you have to destroy EDF property and complete certain Guerrilla Actions. Once at zero the Liberation mission will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/60.jpg Ares' Bloodlust (B)

Destroy the 4 Marauder War Totems.

War Totem 1:

jde5X6t.jpg

6Af4jEK.jpg

War Totem 2:

G7aShjg.png

kbcSbQz.jpg

War Totem 3:

G0YPHq6.png

The Yellow line indicates the path you should take to get to a good shooting spot like the one below:

kSZcU1G.jpg

War Totem 4:

RwiXk6s.png

The Yellow line indicates how to get to the Totem as this is one of the tougher ones to get to. The access point is marked by this Marauder truck:

xNO0jBJ.jpg

rKF3hTH.jpg

With the exception of War Totem 3, these can all be destroyed with one swipe of the Sledgehammer. For War Totem 3, I recommend waiting until you have finished the Campaign so you have the Super Gauss Rifle available, though if you happen to find a normal Gauss Rifle then that will work as well. The reason for needing a Gauss Rifle is because War Totem 3 is out of reach and cannot be driven or walked up to, due to this you will have to destroy it from a distance. The Rocket Launcher and Missile Pod are too inaccurate so don't waste your ammo

You can also use the map for the The Power of One trophy in case you need extra help, as that map also has the locations of all four Marauder War Totems.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/142/61.jpg The Power of One (B)

Collect 75 Marauder Power Cells.

This is a Power Cell:

aPzVxfI.png

...and here's a map showing the location of all 89 of them (credit to THQ for creating it and donalds5 for originally hosting it):

5RBAbN6.jpg

The bulk of the Power Cells are on the top and side of buildings/structures, the rest are inside them or just lying on the ground in full view. There are a handful that are near impossible to get thanks to bad level design so if you find one that you just can't get to, then leave it and go find another one.

You can post now, constructive feedback appreciated :). Once the blank page bug has been fixed then I will remove my signature from the post(s) where I accidentally left it in.

A challenge for the main guide and the Pro times thread will be posted within the next day or two :). EDIT: The other guide challenges have now been posted.

Ok, so I finished this game a long time ago, and have since then a new ps3. I started up the game, downloaded the DLC but no "Downloadable content" shows up i the menu of the game... how do I access the DLC? Must I have a finished (or atleast progressed) save-file from earlier?

EDIT: Appears I had 2 copies of the game, one (ofc the one I used) which were an US copy..

As soon as I used the EU copy everything worked as supposed.

I walked up to War Totem 3 just fine. That's the first trophy I got and I found all 4 on my own just walking around. For that one, you just had to come directly from the other side where the guide marks it, start from that opposing intersection and work your way around the back (in respect to the pic) through the ascending dips and hills to get to it.

Hey. One thing worth notice about DLC in Poland. The problem isn't country but game version. The game with polish subtitles distributed in Poland have code BLES00498 with this version you can't download any dlc. In Poland you can buy other version too BLES00592. With this version you can download all dlc without any problems. Maybe this help someone.

@Terminator are you sure about DLC region blocked ? My friend have 2 accounts and on one of them DLC isn't avaliable, so he install the game on the second account then download the dlc via in game store & install. After this he switch to first account and run the game from account where DLC isn't avaliable. The game start with no problem with DLC from UK on Russian account.
