INTRODUCTION

Deep Black is a third person cover based shooter set in the near future. The game is short and story is mediocre but the game is enjoyable and has very simple trophies. It has similar elements from popular series' like Dead Space and Resistance in environment and character design.

STEP ONE - COMPLETE MULTIPLAYER

I recommend doing this step first because it can be a pain (as with most multiplayer trophies). Finding a boosting partner is highly recommend since the game can easily be boosted and finding a legit match can be very hard due to the unpopularity of the game. The game can easily be boosted in a 1v1 unranked invite match between 2 PSN friends.

STEP TWO - COMPLETE THE CAMPAIGN ON EASY & COMPLETE MISC TROPHIES

Start a new game on Easy and play through the game. All the trophies are extremely easy and farmable by reloading checkpoints or going back to specific areas via chapter select and farming out the objective.

TROPHY GUIDE

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/C4E.jpg Deep Black (P)

Deep Black Platinum.

Offline Trophies

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/940.jpg Antillia (S)

Complete the Act 1

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will get this after finding the sunken submarine.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/E24.jpg Dagon (S)

Complete the Act 2

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will get this after finishing and getting out of the submarine, you fight a mini boss here near the end where you have to run around to the electrically charged conductors and activate them (with :circle:) to disable the bots' shield and then shoot him (preferably with the rocket launcher to do the most damage). I found that after 2 rocket shots I would run for cover again and repeat the process to stay safe.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/DD9.jpg Sargasso (S)

Complete the Act 3

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will get this after fending off another giant bot with a shield (similar to the one you fought earlier in the level). To get through both these bots the key is to avoid the missiles. The first bot there is an open crate that provides perfect cover from the bullets and missiles and you can pop out to shoot when the shield goes down (on the right side of the map, against the wall). For the final boss proceed to the back left of the map where there is still some roofing from the parking area in tact. This will act as a block for the missiles leaving you only to worry about the machine guns which can be avoided easily be moving from behind cover (broken down vehicles).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/A4E.jpg Pescadero (S)

Complete the Act 4

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

This will unlock when you are being chased by the giant mech Bastion. As you run away from him towards the big abandoned power station look to your upper left you will see a huge conductor that you will have to shoot 3 charges of your stun gun at in order to charge the station then run around the power station to the right (again right side as you were running to the power station) and you will see a red lit control panel. Hit :circle: to activate it and have your Rail Gun ready. Aim with :l1: and shoot the alternate fire with :r2: on the glowing orange exposed engines of the mech. Repeat until the mech is dead. Watch out for the mines it shoots out but this battle is very simple over all.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/DBC.jpg Triton (S)

Complete the Act 5

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will get this trophy for beating the game, when you get to the end you will have to race to a turret and take down endless aerial drones and a giant ship that is the boss within the time limit. It's relatively simple on easy and even though I took a ton of damage (screen was red a lot). I never died once so don't worry about trying to leave the turret to recover health you should be fine as long as you're a decent shot taking down the aerial drones. They do come quite fast in pairs after you've eliminated the previous pair so be on alert and get in damage on the main ship in between.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/EAB.jpg Critical Massacre (G)

Kill 100 human enemies

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this naturally by playing through the game. I got it before the end of Act 1. Dying or reloading checkpoints do count for the tally but it's impossible to get through the game without getting this as killing enemies is required to move on.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/939.jpg Depth Charge (G)

Kill 50 drone enemies

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this naturally by playing through the game. I got it before the end of Act 1. Dying or reloading checkpoints do count for the tally but it's impossible to get through the game without getting this as killing enemies is required to move on.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/4A9.jpg Trigger Happy (G)

Kill 50 Shotgunners

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed.

You will unlock this naturally by playing through the game. I got it before the end of Act 1. Dying or reloading checkpoints do count for the tally but it's impossible to get through the game without getting this as killing enemies is required to move on.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/A4F.jpg Hammer of Vulcan (B)

Kill 5 AD-4 Vulcan Engineers

The AD-4 Vulcan Engineers are the robots that come out to repair pipes in the game. The best and easiest place to get this is the first chapter of Act II (in the submarine) because there is a bot right as you start the level. Kill it, hit start and reload checkpoint. Do it 5 times or until the trophy pops. Very simple!

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/8F9.jpg Pain in the Membrane (G)

Get 50 headshots with any weapon

When you hit :l1: to zoom in on an enemy the game auto targets the enemy's head (at least it does on easy) so hit unload with :r1: and you'll likely get this trophy before the Critical Massacre trophy. Dying or reloading checkpoints do count for the tally.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/3B3.jpg Open Minded (G)

Get 5 headshots in a row with the Sniper Rifle

You first get the Sniper Rifle on the chapter Opening the Gate in Act 3 (when you reach a room and hit a button to open a gate the Sniper will be on a table). Right after you get it and leave the room there will be a manned turret shooting at you. Kill the shotgunners and stay at the back of the area as the turret tries to shoot you it'll likely miss and you can line up an easy headshot on the guy manning the turret with :l1:. When you kill the guy on the turret, more will automatically spawn in to man the turret again so just wait and shoot 5 guys with the sniper rifle who keep coming to man the turrets before you progress up.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/7EF.jpg Nice Ghoul Like You (G)

Reprogram 10 UD-3 Ghoul Scouts

These are the scout drones when you are underwater that attack in groups. You can use your harpoon with :l1: and then :l2: to latch onto them and stay close until you circular bar fills up which means it now fights for you. You can keep doing this to 2 or more bots fighting each other to rack up the tally or die/restart checkpoint and do it over and over until the trophy pops. I got this trophy before the Act 1 trophy using this method.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/772.jpg Up Close and Personal (G)

Kill one of each enemy type with a melee attack

This trophy will pop sometime in Act 3 if you've killed all types of enemies. To melee you just run up to an enemy and press :circle:. There are really only 6 enemies to my knowledge that you can melee kill:

Engineers (Act 1)

Shotgunners (Act 1+)

SMG enemies (Act 1+)

Stungun enemies (Act 1+)

Blade (melee) enemies (Act 1+)

Commando (gun) enemies (Act 3+)

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/B10.jpg Shotgun Wetting (G)

Get 50 shotgun kills

There are plenty of opportunities to get this trophy and lots of chances to grab shotguns so pick one up and unload until the trophy pops. I got it before Act 1 finished, dying or reloading counts towards the tally.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/FDB.jpg Intel Analyst (B)

Recover 10 data discs

I don't know if there are even 10 data discs in the game, but don't worry there is an easy trick to help this trophy pop without any pain or annoying searching. When you reach the first data disc before the end of Act 1 (unmissable), just pick it up, run out die and repeat until the trophy pops :).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/E98.jpg Electromagnetic Pulp (B)

Kill 20 enemies with the EMP attachment grenade

This trophy description is misleading. There is no real attachment, they just mean the EMP grenades you get as you naturally progress through the story. Chuck them at enemies with :l2: and if you land a direct hit it usually kills the enemy. If you miss and land it close to them they usually run away. You can farm an area if you want but if you use the grenades regularly the trophy will pop naturally.

Online Trophies

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/087.jpg Multifaceted (G)

Win a multiplayer match on each of the 5 maps

Find 1 other person to play with and go to Multiplayer from the main menu and go over to unranked match. Create a match and set maximum players to 2 then set the map to any of the 5 you need, match type to Deathmatch and frags to 1. You get the kill and the round ends with you winning then do the same for your partner. This trophy shouldn't take more than 5 minutes barring any connection issues.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/2FB.jpg Jormungand (B)

Win a match without dying

If boosting you will get this while going for either killstreak trophies or Multifaceted as during your wins you should not die.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/1AD.jpg Bahamut (B)

Get 5 kills in a row without dying

See Megalodon.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/655/4B0.jpg Megalodon (B)

Get 15 kills in a row without dying

Follow the same set up for the Multifaceted trophy but for one of the five maps, set the frags to 15. Kill your opponent 15 times in a row without them killing you and the trophy is yours.

So uh how difficult is this game then?

I would say that it is more frustrating than actually difficult. Taking Charge is a level in the last chapter and it's a beast, took over an hour and at least 20 attempts to get past. Still beyond that, getting platinum took less than 8 hours.

It's quick, but not painless LOL. It's worth a shot though in my opinion. I was able to do it and I'm an average gamer. You might find it to be easy if you are the above-average gamer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, guys.

I figured out how the servers work if you're boosting. I noticed that if I moved while hosting the game would run fine. But if my partner hosted and I moved we'd get disconnected.

So, you can either use communication to find your partner (if hosting) or them find you (they host). As long as the invited person stays still the server should be fine.

You might have to try a few times. What I did was win a map and then let my partner win on the map and move to the next one. You can try winning all 5 in a row and then letting your partner go.

Being disconnected/having to quit the game and reboot it shouldn't affect the trophy.
