Death Track: Resurrection - Trophy Guide & Road Map

Recommended Posts

Estimated Difficulty: 9/10

Estimated Time to Platinum: 20-30 hours, depending on skills

Offline Trophies: 30 (12 (B), 12 (S), 5 (G), 1 (P))

Online Trophies: 3 (2 (B), 1 (S))

Minimum Number of Playthroughs Required: 2 (basically you can't complete the game directly in hard)

Do Cheats Effect Trophies?: No cheats

Do Difficulty Effect Trophies?: Yes.

Missable Trophies: None, as you can earn trophies at anytime.

Before everything, this game is hard because of the crappy controls, the unfair AI, the unbalanced weapon system, the bad level design, and so on. This game is very bad, but actually it contains a Platinum. You'll see that this plat is quite hard to obtain. If you want a good comparison, this game sucks like Anarchy: Rush Hour, but it's hard like Wipeout HD or Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. You have been warned; let's go for the Roadmap.

Step 1: Complete the Tutorial

You're not forced to do the tutorials but I strongly advise it. Read everything because it's all important, and doing the tutorials will actually give you two trophies:

(B) Chicken and (B) First explosion. After the tutorial you'll run a test race, where you need to finish on the podium. If you manage to destroy an enemy, you'll get (B) First blood.

Step 2: Complete the Scenario in Easy mode

Ok, now the real deal begins. With the starting car, do the first race of the Scenario in San Diego and win it to obtain

(B) First victory. Then, go in the customize car menu before starting the next race. Buy a car (to get (B) Test Drive), then buy a cheap upgrade to get (B) Mechanic and buy a weapon to obtain (B) Rearming. Then, keep winning races throughout the Scenario. After the Tokyo race, you'll get (B) One of Five. Don't forget to upgrade your car regularly (I recommend you get more upgrades than weapons, they will be more useful). Then, when you win the last race, you'll be done with that Scenario and you'll get (B) Champion of the Season.

Step 3: Getting the Bosscar and upgrading it

You finally managed to get the Scenarios done. Now you'll need to get a car which will be quite mandatory to get the plat: the Bosscar. It costs $150,000, and to get that money you'll need to do some races. What you need to do are the Championships. To "win" a Championship, you'll need to place on the podium in each race (stay in Easy). There are 6 races in the European Championship (winning it will make you earn the

(B) Champion of Europe trophy), and 2 races in the Asian and American Championships (you'll get (B) Champion of Asia and (B) Champion of America after completing these competitions). You should earn your first gold trophy, (G) Discoverer, for unlocking everything. If you won enough races, you should have the money to buy the Bosscar.

When you get this car, do not upgrade it right away. Redo the New York race in the American Championship, in Hard mode, and by using the method of wallsliding the walls, you should be able to win without too many problems, earning you

(S) Hard player.

Next, you can complete the Drag races. They are really short, very easy to win, and you earn at least $30,000 per race. It's a good way to get money easily. After upgrading your car to the max, it's time to get into the hard things! After getting your Bosscar fully upgraded, do Drags in London, and try to reach the 400 kph to get the

(S) Sprinter trophy. It will take some trial and error.

Step 4: Doing the Scenario in Hard without dying

Now it starts to get hard. What you'll need to do is to win every race of each Scenario in Hard difficulty, without dying. You're not forced to do them in the order of the Scenarios. It's going to be tough since even with the best protection, you can die easily if you don't master your car correctly, and if you don't take jumps to get health. Use and overuse the wallsliding technique (not too much since some walls are positioned especially to stop you immediately) to get through turns fast and without much damage, and try to get away from opponents as quick as possible.

When you're in the Vatican race, you'll see someone in a truck called Chamorro. If you destroy him (shouldn't be a problem with your weapons), you'll earn

(G) Executioner. Then, by winning races without dying, you'll earn automatically (S) Beekeeper at the end of the Tokyo race. In Tokyo and Paris, there are two big jumps (you'll notice them), and when you take them with a level 5 multiplier bonus, if you spin enough, you'll get the (S) Stunt man trophy. Also, when winning races, you can get (S) Cautious without even trying - if you come in first in all the races, don't fall on spikes and don't touch them, you'll earn the trophy after 5 wins like that.

After completing the last race without dying, you'll earn the

(G) Best of the Best trophy! But your pain is far from being over.

Step 5: Completing the infamous challenges

The challenges can be either easy, or ultra hard like the Bangkok one. Each challenge requires that you not die and reach very precise objectives. These challenges will earn you money when completed ($75,000 for Normal, $125,000 for Pro), which will get you the

(S) Millionaire trophy easily. There's a Challenge guide here and I strongly advise you refer to it. Some challenges will permit you to get some trophies: the Vatican one is perfect for (S) Pilot, Prague and Moscow are perfect to boost (S) Maniac and (S) Devil, while the Tokyo one will help you get (S) Apostle.

Remember: the Pro challenges have harder requirements than Normal challenges, and force you to finish first.

If you manage to complete the Normal challenges, you'll get

(S) Challenge Accepted, and if you get every challenge done, you'll proudly earn (G) Challenger! After you have done this task, buy every car to get 100% completion (you should have the money for it), and earn the (G) Perfectionist trophy! And it should be done for the single player part.

Step 6: 50 online wins and 100 overall wins

The online is pretty much empty, so you'll need a boosting partner. So get to the

Boosting Thread and register to find a boosting partner. Use the method described in this thread to get the wins as fast as possible. When getting your first win, you'll get (B) Buddy and (B) Rookie. You'll probably won't get the 50 onlines wins in one session as it's pretty boring, so meanwhile, try to get some offline wins in Drag mode to get the (S) Victor trophy. Check your progress regularly in the stats screen.

Then, keep winning and boosting in online mode to finally get your 50 wins (you'll have to count manually, or just wait for the trophy to pop). You'll earn the

(S) Pro trophy at that point. And if you completed everything else, you'll finally earn the platinum trophy, (P) Medallist!

And now this Roadmap is over. Thanks for reading and now get these trophies!

(B) Bronze Trophies (B)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/02.jpg (B) First blood

Kill your first enemy.

This one is a piece of cake, you can even do it in the tutorial. To kill an enemy easily, just use your light weapon and your heavy weapon on him, repeatedly, while being behind him. If you don't get it in the tutorial, you'll have plenty of occasions to get it in the following races.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/03.jpg (B) First explosion

Demolish your first building.

In the tutorial you'll get an objective about destroying a building. Some buildings in the scenery are marked with targets; just fire on them with your weapons. Destroying a building gets you a level 5 bonus. You will get it after finishing the tutorial.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/04.jpg (B) Chicken

Make your first jump.

Like the (B) First explosion trophy, you'll be forced to do a jump in the tutorial. There are ramps on tracks, which permits you to do jumps. The action will become slow-motion and you'll be able to do tricks with the SIXAXIS or :rs:. You should get this trophy seconds after doing the jump.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/05.jpg (B) First victory

Win your first race.

This one is easy, however you can't do it in the tutorial. You must win a race and the best way to do so is to play any race on Easy. After some practicing with the handling of the cars, you should get the victory easily.

Tip: Dying is great in this game. You get full boost, full armor and full ammo when respawning, and you don't lose much time. So if you don't have much health while in first place, don't worry, you can die without any risk. Unless, of course, the race asks you to survive.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/06.jpg (B) Mechanic

Buy your first upgrade.

See (B) Test Drive.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/07.jpg (B) Rearming

Buy your first weapon.

See (B) Test Drive.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/08.jpg (B) Test Drive

Buy your first car.

This one is very easy: in the single-player menu, at the bottom, there's a button called "Customize Car". You can buy a new car, buy upgrades and weapons for your current car. Be careful, though, weapons and upgrades do not carry over if you buy another vehicle (you'll need to buy them twice).

You should start with $50,000. Buy a car first (you'll get (B) Test Drive), if you don't have enough money, do a race in the scenario. Then equip a new weapon (you'll get (B) Rearming) and buy an upgrade (you'll obtain (B) Mechanic). I advise taking the engine upgrade, it clearly boosts the power of the car and produces amazing results in races.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/09.jpg (B) One of Five

Get in top 5 pilots in Scenario mode.

See (B) Champion of the Season.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/10.jpg (B) Champion of the Season

Finish Scenario mode.

This one will require you to finish the Scenario mode and participate in 10 races, 2 laps for each. On each race, you'll need to be in the top 3, then, after the 7th race, be in the top 2. The last race is a 1 on 1, where dying is forbidden. After the Tokyo race, you'll get the (B) One of Five trophy. To do the Scenario easily, buy the last upgrade in engine, armor, and tires. You won't regret that, and you'll be able to survive in the last race.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/11.jpg (B) Champion of Europe

Win European Championship.

There's a Championship mode in the single-player part of the game. Each one requires you to participate in a series of races. You only need to place in the top 3 of each race to unlock the next one. Even if you get 3rd in every race, the trophy will be obtained.

The European Championship is the longest championship with 6 races (London, Moscow, Prague, Istanbul, Vatican, Paris reversed). Just get at least 3rd in every race in Easy mode to get it. A well-upgraded car really helps.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/12.jpg (B) Champion of Asia

Win Asian Championship.

Like (B) Champion of Europe, but this one is easier since there's only 2 races (Tokyo and Bangkok reversed). Much quicker to obtain, then.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/13.jpg (B) Champion of America

Win American Championship.

Like (B) Champion of Asia, only two races (San Diego and New York reversed); do them on Easy with a good car and the trophy will be yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/14.jpg (B) Buddy

Play your first multiplayer game.

Self-explanatory. SPLIT-SCREEN DOESN'T WORK FOR THIS TROPHY! So you must do it online. It will pop after finishing the race. If you win it, you'll also get (B) Rookie. Check the Trophy Boosting thread to get online wins.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/15.jpg (B) Rookie

Win your first multiplayer race.

See (B) Buddy.

(S) Silver Trophies (S)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/16.jpg (S) Pro

Win 50 races in multiplayer.

Considering the lack of people in online, the only easy way to do it is to use our helpful Trophy Boosting Thread. To get wins quickly, use the method given in that thread. This will be very long and very annoying, but there isn't a faster way.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/17.jpg (S) Victor

Win 100 races in single player or multiplayer races.

I advise you to get Pro before this one, because then you will be halfway through. To get this trophy quickly in single player, just do Drag races on London over and over.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/18.jpg (S) Hard player

Win any championship final race on hard difficulty level using stock upgrades and first level weapons.

This one is tough. You'll need to win the final race of a Championship (not the Scenario) using a car without any upgrades. The easiest way to do it is to choose New York and use the Bosscar without any upgrades (this car is unlocked after completing the Scenario, and costs $150,000). Try to boost as much as possible, and always use the first shortcut (the second is not really important). You can die for this trophy, if you truly need a boost. If you see someone in front of you who's about 1 kilometer away, just restart the race. New York is a short track with few straight lines so the race will be slow, but it's perfect for a stock car.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/19.jpg (S) Sprinter

Reach 400 kph in any race.

Self-explanatory. To do it, you'll have to choose Drag mode and the London track, with the Bosscar fully upgraded. What you'll need to do is manually gear up and use your boost at the right time. To be efficient, do the following thing:

- At the start, go directly into 2nd gear and boost a bit

- Shift to 3rd gear and get the boost bonus on the right after the turn (restart if you missed them)

- Boost a little when in 4th and 5th gear, then 6th gear before the downhill

- When reaching 300 kph, boost and 7th gear till you reach 400 kph.

You'll need a number of tries to reach the 400, you can even reach 401.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/20.jpg (S) Beekeeper

Finish Tokyo in Scenario mode without dying.

This one will look infamous. Because of all the little drones who'll attack you on some parts of the race. And even with the best armor, you'll probably struggle to finish that. A good way to do it is to run it in Hard mode.

Yeah, the opponents will be faster, but the drones only attack the first target they see. So try to get 2nd, or 3rd, all over the race, so the drones won't attack you. The first big jump is an easy Archangel (25,000 pt jump) and can give you level 5 health bonus (not all the time) which gives you full health and a refill for 25 seconds. So if you get damaged, your health will replenish. Use many jumps to get Angel statuses; some will give you level 3 health, and it can be very helpful.

And if you managed to get 1st in that race in Hard mode, you'll have done a little of the (G) Best of the best trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/21.jpg (S) Stunt man

Get 75000 points with one jump.

This one isn't really hard if you have good speed before the jump and a level 5 multiplier (which gives you tons of points). To get a level 5 multiplier you'll need to destroy buildings. Once you get it, try to find the highest jump and push the :rs: to the top left (do it twice so the car will really start to spin). Be careful, you'll need to land quickly on all four wheels, or your jump will be nullified.

There's a good place to do it: Go to Paris (Normal), then wait at the start for the weapons to unlock. Then fire on the building nearby; you'll get a level 5 multiplier. Next, use your boost to reach the ramp at the top of the bridge after the turn, then rotate yourself and pray you land on all four wheels and get the 75,000 points. You'll need to VALIDATE the jump (so all numbers must be green) to make the trophy pop just after.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/22.jpg (S) Pilot

Get 200000 points with one nitro acceleration.

Actually, this one is a pain. To do it, go to the Vatican track in a quick race, set the numbers of racers to one (so you'll be alone). At the start, go the wrong way immediately and continue till you see two buildings (keep your boost). Continue till you reach the junction, and a bit further on you'll see some boost bonuses.

After crossing them, get back on the good side, and start to boost. Collect the first boost bonuses, then take the left path and destroy the crane; it will give you a level 5 boost bonus. Keep running (don't touch any walls) and destroy the water tower to get the level 5 multiplier bonus. Now your points will increase very quickly, and boost your way through the straight line.

Finally, you'll need some luck for the last part: your boost will start to deplete at around 100,000 points. You'll have a chance to get some additional boost in the straight line, however these bonuses can be hard to get. If you manage to get one, you'll do the 200,000 points. The trophy will pop after VALIDATING it, so stop boosting immediately after getting the points.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/23.jpg (S) Maniac

Kill 500 enemies in single player or multiplayer races.

This one is just about grinding. Run races over and over and focus on enemies, blowing them up with your full-leveled weapons. If you get kills in a chain, you'll get the level 5 damage bonus, which will help you to get even more kills! You can check this in the stats screen, in the extras menu.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/24.jpg (S) Cautious

Win 5 single player or multiplayer races (not in Race or Drag modes) avoiding enemy's mines and spikes.

To be honest, you'll probably get this trophy without even trying. You'll need to win 5 races without running on mines or spikes. The easiest way to get them is to lead the race entirely. If you're first, you won't have mines in front of you, and you can get a win like that easily. But rest assured, you'll do that without even trying.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/25.jpg (S) Millionaire

Get 1000000 credits on account.

To get this one, you'll need to have 1 million credits on your account at any given time. Be careful, it's not a cumulative trophy - you'll need to have the 1 million all at once in your account. So if you have a fully upgraded car, just win races in Drag mode in Easy difficulty (London track is perfect). You'll get tons of money quickly.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/26.jpg (S) Apostle

Get 50 Archangel statuses.

To get an Archangel status, you'll need to do at least 25,000 points in a jump. There are three things that can give you points during a jump: length, rotation and pitch. Having a multiplier bonus increases the number of points you get. To get 25,000 points easily, locate the big jumps (there are nice jumps in Tokyo, and there's a challenge on this track with Archangel statuses) and after taking off, push the :rs: to the top right. When you're about to land, try to put your car straight on the road to validate the jump. If you get more than 25,000 points, you'll get an Archangel status. You'll need to do 50 Archangels to get the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/27.jpg (S) Devil

Get 50 Megakiller statuses.

The Megakiller status is obtained when you kill 2 enemies in 4 seconds, then when you kill a third enemy in the following 6 seconds. There's a challenge about it. To get Megakillers easily, with level 4 weapons, just get behind the pack, and fire everything you have. Getting a damage multiplier really helps, and when you get Killer and Megakiller statuses, you get damage multipliers to chain the enemies and do rampages.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/28.jpg (S) Challenge Accepted

Complete all basic challenges.

This one will truly be a pain. Every challenge requires you to do objectives in a 2-lap race, without dying. Some objectives are truly nuts. There's a Challenge Guide here with give tips and tricks for every challenge. There are two types of challenges: Basic and Pro challenges. To get this trophy, you only need to complete the Basic challenges.

(G) Gold Trophies (G)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/29.jpg (G) Challenger

Complete all challenges.

You'll need to complete the 20 challenges in order to get the trophy. Pro challenges are the same than the Basic challenges, but with (much) harder requirements. Check the Challenge Guide for help.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/30.jpg (G) Executioner

Kill Chamorro in Vatican in Scenario mode.

You'll probably won't get this when you do the Scenario the first time. Just come back in the Vatican race when you have a fully-upgraded car. The Chamorro car is like a truck, but it's harder to destroy. Just race from behind and fire on everything you see. Enabling the racers' names in the options menu can help to locate your target. It's without a doubt the easiest gold trophy. Be careful - if an opponent destroys him, you'll have to restart the race, since he doesn't respawn.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/31.jpg (G) Best of the best

Win all scenario races on hard difficulty level without dying.

You liked Elite Campaign Legend in Wipeout HD? You'll like this one. You'll need to win every Scenario race, in Hard difficulty, without dying. All I can say is learn the tracks perfectly, boost all the way and use jumps to get health. Also, use the fully upgraded Bosscar to have a chance to get this trophy. There's a paradox: the latter races are easier to win without dying than the first. The main reason is there are less opponents and you're under a constant fire.

A good tip is to put the race mode to Classic: there's no respawn and you'll just need to destroy every opponent to make the things easier. Stay behind the pack, fire everything you have, and when there's two or three people left (even nobody), start to make your race and finish first.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/32.jpg (G) Discoverer

Unlock all cars, upgrades and weapons.

This one is easy: to get it, finish Scenario mode and all three Championships.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/33.jpg (G) Perfectionist

Complete 100% of the game.

To get this, you must:

- Complete the Scenarios (no need to do it in Hard, however to get the Plat you'll need to)

- Win every championship (you don't need to get first every time)

- Win every challenge.

- Win all 4 drag races.

- Buy every car.

(P) Platinum Trophy (P)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/582/01.jpg

(P) Medallist

Unlock all trophies.

Self-explanatory. Congratulations if you made it!

Challenge guide

The challenges can really make you throw your controllers. I'll give tips and tricks for each challenge to make them easier to do.

Common requirements

- In every challenge, dying is forbidden. If you get destroyed, you must restart the challenge.

- In normal challenges, you must finish in the top 3.

- In pro challenges, you must win the race. The opponents are in hard difficulty.

San Diego

Basic: Get 400,000 points

Pro: Get 600,000 points

Difficulty: 7/10

This challenge clearly looks hard when looking at the very high number of points required to complete it. The secret of it is getting a long boost while getting a multiplier. I'll tell you how to get points.

- At the start, before the right turn, boost to get around 20,000 points

- Take the jump on the right path, to get the level 4 boost, but do not use it for now

- Take the right lane in the tunnel and get the multipliers

- Boost in the tunnel, then when the road starts to tighten, stop boosting

- Then boost in the long straight line, you need to get around 80,000 before the tunnel filled with boost bonuses

- Get all the green generators, to unlock the green shortcut, you'll get a level 5 multiplier, and you can collect boosts throughout the way. On the second lap, take the jump and try to get the level 4 multiplier. Try to get a full bar of boost.

- VERY IMPORTANT. You need to boost as long as possible, AVOID EVERY WALL, and try to get at least 100,000 points of boosting. I got 150,000 the time I managed to get the 600,000 (got 655,000 at the end). The longer you'll boost, the more points you'll score. If you fail at this point, you'll never get the 600,000 (400,000 are still possible if you miss one).

- Near the end of the track, you can collect multipliers and boost and go through the start line, getting some additional points.

Prague

Basic: Get 7 kills in the race

Pro: Get 14 kills in the race

Difficulty: 4/10 (8/10 for Pro)

This one is quite easy in Basic mode. Getting 7 kills in 2 laps is quite easy, if you stay behind the pack. However getting the double is harder, for Pro mode. Just equip your best weapons, prefer the laser (it recharges automatically, on the contrary of other weapons), and use mines. Try to aim for 8-9 enemies killed on the first lap, so you can get the rest on the second, and boost your way to the finish line on first place in the last part of the track.

Istanbul

Basic: Don't finish first at more than 3 checkpoints, do not destroy more than 3 opponents in the first lap, and win the race

Pro: Don't finish first at more than 2 checkpoints, do not destroy more than 2 opponents in the first lap, and win the race

Difficulty: 6/10

This one looks complicated and hard. But you'll find that it's quite simple. Just stay in the pack all the race, don't destroy anyone in the first lap, and try to be in second place in the last checkpoints of the race, with the first having a little lead. Try to destroy him or slowing him down using an EMP missile, then go in first place at the last moment to win the race.

Vatican

Basic: Do the first lap under 2:05, the second lap under 2:00, the third lap under 1:55

Pro: Do the first lap under 1:50, the second lap under 1:45, the third lap under 1:42

Difficulty: 3/10

Here's a little roadmap to get good times:

- Boost all the time, don't take the jump, and enter the tunnel. Try to take some boost bonuses.

- Take the path on the right, and wallslide (to wallslide: take the turn by rubbing the exterior wall, and turn in the same direction) the huge turn

- Boost your way by always taking the right path

- Be careful at the right-left chicane, anticipate to pass it at full speed (if you fail, you'll be stopped by the wall and you'll need to restart)

- Take the path on the left and destroy every red light to unlock the red shortcut

- Be careful, there's some pillars in the middle of the track that can stop you

Now it will differ in function of the lap you are in.

- Lap 1: DON'T UNLOCK THE GREEN SHORTCUT, and take the normal path instead (take the left path, it's shorter).

- Lap 2: Unlock the green shortcut (a level 5 boost bonus is given), go through it, but don't destroy anything.

- Lap 3: Go through the green shortcut and destroy the big building (a level 5 boost bonus is given) and boost your way through the finish.

Try to get somme boost bonuses in the long straight line before the finish.

Tokyo

Basic: Get 4 Archangel statuses, without going over 250,000 jump points

Pro: Get 4 Archangel statuses, without going over 200,000 jump points

Difficulty: 6/10

To get this one, you'll need to know two things: where the multipliers are, and where the big jumps are. There's three places where the two elements are combined:

- The first big jump after the long downhill, if you get some multipliers in the long left turn at the beginning, you'll get 25,000 points easily.

- A jump with a x4 Multiplier bonus in mid-air, you'll find it in the middle of the track.

- A jump at the end of track, which can be accessed only by unlocking the red shortcut. But, you can access it without unlocking it: just run to it, you'll be stopped, then respawn using the :select: button. Destroy the bulding just after to get a x5 Multiplier bonus, the do the jump and rotate to get the 25,000.

The point limit isn't really a problem, the hardest thing will be to take the jumps right and not going on two wheels. And of course, surviving.

Moscow

Basic: Get 3 Megakiller statuses, without killing more than 20 enemies

Pro: Get 4 Megakiller statuses, without killing more than 20 enemies

Difficulty: 6/10 (9/10 for Pro)

This one can really be a pain, for one reason: there's practically no error margin. Getting one Megakiller status is quite hard, and you'll need to kill 3 enemies in a few seconds to get it. The main problem is sometimes the game won't give you the status despite having killed 3 enemies very quickly!

And of course, the Moscow track is very narrow, and your chances to die are high, since you need to be very close to your opponents, and you'll know one of the main rules of DTR: YOU are the main target.

First advice is staying behind the pack and taking the most powerful weapons that your car can offer. Try to get one Megakiller status before the U-turn after the long straight line (take the left path), and try to get another one when you see 3 or 4 opponents. However, since your error margin is very thin, you must get them all very quickly, otherwise, you will only get a Killer status, and you'll come closer to the limit.

Second advice is to stop the car when having a too huge lead, and staying always behind (be careful that the opponents which are first doesn't take too much lead). Anyway you'll see that you are the main target. Getting the Megakillers is your priority, even in the second lap.

Third advice: try to locate the useful bonuses: the damage and health ones will be the bonuses to get. You'll get most of the times a damage bonus when getting a Killer status, and jumping on the ramps is a good way to get some health. Always get an eye on your health;

Fourth and last advice: Be careful of the mines. When used against you, they can take away many health, and when you use them, you can get "accidentally" a kill. Prefer the spikes.

And maybe the very last word, is luck. You'll need prenty of tries to get the good one. Just try over and over, and don't give up.

London

Basic: Get 14 perfect driving statuses in the race

Pro: Get 24 perfect driving statuses in the race

Difficulty: 4/10 (7/10 for Pro)

The main word for this challenge is carefulness. The objective is getting perfect driving statuses, that means you must complete sectors of the track without touching any wall. Actually, if you are slow, there isn't any problem to gather the statuses. However, since you need to be in the top 3 (in Basic) or getting the win (in Pro), you need to be fast and careful.

Touching opponents is permitted, so you can push them to get past tough turns. The London track have two main parts, a sinous one at the beginning, and a very straight one on the second part (it's a highway). Be careful by using your brakes, sometimes the car won't respond and you'll go straight into the wall.

Surviving isn't really a problem here, the real one is about the pro challenge. The 24 perfect driving statuses are quite hard to gather (there's 40 sectors on 2 laps), and one opponent will be a real pain to beat to get first place (he is really fast at the end of the track and can overtake you without you notice it). The best piece of advice I can give is about learning the track perfectly, knowing the curves and the tough turns. Be really careful about opponents too, if you are shot by an EMP missile, you'll lose control for a few seconds, you'll take damage and you'll surely hit a wall in the process, denying you a perfect driving status.

A good thing is getting 17 to 20 perfect drivings in the first lap, at your pace, then speeding away to catch up everyone and winning the race.

Paris

Basic & Pro: Finish the first lap in last place, finish the second lap in first place

Difficulty: 3/10

This one is very simple. All you need to do on the first lap is finishing last, so stay behind the pack, and unlock the shortcuts for the second lap. Restart if you see the last opponent is far behind the leader. Then, when you have done your lap, boost your way through the shortcuts and unleash your fury to cross the line in first position.

Bangkok

Basic: Destroy 5 given targets without destroying a wrong one

Pro: Destroy 7 given targets without destroying a wrong one

Difficulty: 10/10 (11/10 for Pro)

/!\ WARNING. THIS CHALLENGE CAN CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE TO YOUR CONTROLLER.

This challenge is really the hardest one, and saying 11/10 for the Pro version isn't a mistake at all. This challenge is clearly as hard as Beat Zico or Zone Zeus in Wipeout HD, because there are things that can make you throw your controller on the ground!

First of all, you need to locate the good target. If for the first one, it's easy, it will become harder for the other ones. The main reason is the target is chosen randomly, and it can be like next to you, or ten seconds in front or behind you.

There's a way to know what the target is on the track: look at the minimap, the target has a different color. However it's hard to notice, especially on small TVs! And of course, the worst thing is when you kill the target which was first, then you have to wait for the next target (even going in reverse!), which is on last position. Same thing about the road branches, some times you'll see the target is on the opposite road.

Also looking at the minimap makes you unaware of what's going on the track, and looking how messy the game is... But it's the only efficient way to know where the target is and what road he has taken.

Second thing: you need to destroy the target, and the problem is when the target is destroyed by another or by itself, the target stays the same, and respawn at full health! Sometimes you can have luck with a car very weak, but it happens mostly on Chamorro which has the heaviest car (restart if it happens). Near the end of the track, you can destroy a building which gives you a level 5 damage bonus. Be careful, it's a double-edged sword, if you aim at the wrong target, you can destroy it very easily and fail the challenge.

Third thing: you need to survive, and Bangkok is a hard track. You'll lose health because of the bad level design, of the insaneous amounts of mines and missiles thrown by your opponents (4 attacks on 5 will take you as a target!), and there's not many ways to retake health: jumps (50% chance to get health), bonuses (very few), and the green shortcut, when opened, gives you a level 5 health. And even with that you can be destroyed very easily.

Fourth and last thing: The aiming system truly sucks. Many times, you'll destroy a target you didn't want to kill, and of course, this will mean a fail of the mission. So I advise you to get these weapons:

- Light weapon: Laser level 3 or 4 (level 3 has a very fast reload, but level 4 is more powerful)

- Heavy weapon: Missiles level 4 (not Plasma since it can kill multiple enemies and will mean a fail)

- Defensive weapon: Spikes level 4 (not mines, they can blow up enemy cars and will mean a fail if it's a wrong target, which is likely to happen)

I've told you the four problems and the way to lessen them. To success in this challenge, you'll also need luck. If you manage to have 3 successive targets very close to each other, you'll be very lucky. Last tip: get at least 4-5 targets at the first lap, with a good number of health.

New York

Basic: Never get below 65% of armor

Pro: Never get below 85% of armor

Difficulty: 5/10

This challenge is easier than it looks. Well, if you try to do the race normally, or carefully, you'll never get this challenge done. But there's a great thing that can you make this easier. Your weapon? The wallsliding!

Like in Vatican for the second turn, what you need to do at every turn is running along the wall of the turn, and steering in the same direction of the turn. You'll pass the turn at a very high speed, without getting damage. So you'll take a huge lead, and you won't have to bother about your opponents' attacks since you will be too far from them. Despite the game says you can't collect health bonuses, there's actually 2 you can get:

- By destroying the container above the track, before the finish (level 4). Do this at first lap.

- By destroying a crossing building, around the midst of the track (level 5). Do this at second lap.

If you manage to do every turn flawlessly, and when you get a good lead, you can do this one very easily.

Is this another PSN game with a Platinum trophy? (If so can you remind me of the price?)

Well seeing as your from the UK I can answer this for you :)

Yes it contains a platinum. All games with platinums are found in the retail section of the forum and not PSN :)

The price for the UK is £11.99.

So what would be a decent difficulty rating for this game.

with the trophy for best of the best ?/10

w/o best of the best ?/10

Well I'd say 8/10. After getting this particular trophy (Best of the Best), I'd say the Challenger one is harder. The challenge requirements are nuts. I found a good way to do the New York challenges (managed to do the one with 85% armor!). I actually did all the basic challenges, I'm working on the pro ones.

thats a lot of trophies... has sony thrown away their trophy policy? or do they have some kind of exclusive deal with gaijin?

how bad is the game? gaijin is kind of a red flag for me since x-blades...

edit:

death track was THE game for me when i was young, so i'm very tempted to get this remake but as i've already stated, gaijin isnt a very good developer...

The game is quite bad. Messy and unbalanced gameplay, bad level design... And insanely hard challenges. It's not a game I would recommend. Its only advantage is to have a Platinum, but there's cheaper and better games which have a Plat.

I think Sony has a deal with Gaijin, but I don't know the rules about getting a plat in a game.

Well they also made Il-2 Birds of Prey, and that was bloody fantastic.

But I agree, their methods to gain extra funds by releasing awful PSN games that people only buy for the Platinums is a little unorthadox and a bit cheap. But it puts the bread on the table, and if they have to release another 2 so they can fund the next IL-2 (which judging by the overwhelming and fantastic fan suggestions they requested and wholeheartedly received on the forum, will be AWEOMS) then I'm all for it and will support them by buying it.

found a much easier way to win on hard without dying, if you set the game mode to classic there is no respawns, this includes the enemy, hang back picking off enemies with lvl 4 weps and you will get position 1/1 then just cruise round at your own pace for easy win

Does this work?

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a question about the last race in the season championship (the New York race). In the trophy guide you say to buy the final upgrades for the engine, armour, and, umm, whatever the 3rd thing is...What unlocks those final upgrades? Do you need to buy certain upgrades to unlock other upgrades? Because, in case you haven't guessed, i can't yet buy the final upgrades and i'm trying to beat the New york race.

Also: i'm still using the default car (tho' upgraded); should i buy a new car for the New York race? I can barely finish a lap before i'm dead...
