Roadmap

Estimated difficulty: 5.02/10

Offline trophies: 51 (38(B) 10(S) 2(G) 1(P))

Online trophies: 0

Estimated time to platinum: 10-15 hours

Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 1

Missable Trophies: None. All trophies can be obtained using Chapter Select.

Glitched Trophies: None as far as I know.

Do cheats disable trophies?: There are no cheats as of now.

Does Difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, there are a few trophies that are only available on Officer or greater difficulty.

Step 1: Detective Playthrough

The highest difficulty is available from start so you should start your first playthrough on Detective. While playing through the game make sure you'll pick up all of the Cop Badges. There are 50 Cop Badges total, 5 in every chapter (excluding the prologue and epilogue). The highest difficulty setting for DtR:R isn't that bad, though. So you won't have too much trouble beating the game while earning Gold Rankings on most, if not all, of the chapters. Especially seeing that you get a 1,5 points multiplier on Detective (1,25 on Officer, 1,0 on Cadet).

NOTE: There is only one hidden trophy that you won't unlock just by playing through the game - "Protect the Innocent". Check the trophy guide for further information on how to unlock it.

Step 2: Medal of Valor

In case you didn't achieve Gold Ratings on all of the chapters the first time around, now is the time to complete them. They stack across the difficulties, so you don't want to do them on Detective this time. The multiplier might be lower for the difficulty setting below Detective but you will still easily achieve Gold Ratings on Officer or Cadet difficulty. Just make sure you finish the level as fast as possible while varying between melee kills, headshot and tag team kills. Dying doesn't necessarily mean you can't achieve Gold Ratings any more, but it'll cost you the Survivor bonus and it adds additional time, lowering the Clear Time Bonus, so you want to avoid dying as much as possible. During this step you will also unlock "First at the Scene", "Got your Back" and "Perfect balance" as you want to complete those goals anyway to achieve the highest possible points. If you've already achieved Gold ratings on all levels without unlocking those trophies just complete them during Step 3.

Step 3: Cleaning Up.

Now is the time to finish up all the trophies you still need for your platinum trophy. If you need this step, you will most likely still need "Finish him Shadow!", "Shhhh...", "Protect the Innocent" or any of the trophies mentioned in Step 2 of the Roadmap.

That's about it.

Kill an enemy by knocking or throwing him off a ledge

While playing as Jack, grab an enemy by pressing :cross: + :square: now press :cross: again while pushing the directional stick into the direction of the ledge to throw him down. Can be done during Chapter 1 while chasing after Riggs, just grab the first enemy you see and throw him over the railing.

Take a GAC hostage

Starting in Chapter 5 you'll encounter GAC Units. GAC Units have to be weakend before you can disarm or grab them. So just hit them a few times and then press :cross: + :square: to grab, and :square: one more time to take them hostage.

Open 10 doors with a hostage head

Once you've taken an enemy hostage you're able to open doors using their head (or chest). Just approach a door and press :cross: once the prompt appears.

There's a good spot during Chapter 2 to grind out this trophy in a matter of minutes. After you've completed the Shadow section during Chapter 2 keep playing as Jack until you reach an outdoor section with a chain gate and forklift next to the gate. Good for you that there's a checkpoint aswell. Reload that Checkpoint and quickly run back into the warehouse you came out of. Grab the enemy that's inside there and open the chain gate using him. Reload the Checkpoint and repeat until you unlock the trophy.

NOTE: If the doors of the warehouse are closed that means you have been too slow. Reload the Checkpoint again and try to get inside quicker.

It appears that for some people the above mentioned spot doesn't work anymore, if you are one of them, here's a video showing another spot to easily grind your trophy:

Perform a Shadow groin takedown

Sometimes when you attack an enemy with Shadow while sprinting around, not attacking them with a stealth kill, will make Shadow kill them by biting their groin. Trophy unlocked.

Perform 50 takedowns

Takedowns are performed by pressing X when the prompt comes up on the lower half of your screen. In order for the prompt to come up you have to deal damage to your enemies quickly. The easiest way for me to deal quick damage was using the 5-hit combo (:triangle:, :triangle:, :triangle:, :triangle: + :circle:, :triangle: + :circle:).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/35.jpgDog's dinnerhttp://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Perform 50 Shadow kills

Just kill 50 enemies using Shadow. Both the kills achieved during the Shadow section and the Jack section add up towards the trophy. So if you're playing as Jack, send in Shadow by pressing  to kill someone.

Perform 50 disarms

To disarm enemies you have to press :cross: when the prompt appears on the lower half of your screen. Normal Units can be disarmed instantly when you approach them, but to disarm GAC Units you'll have to weaken them up with blows or gunfire first. Simply disarm 50 enemies and the trophy will unlock.

Perform 50 counters

This one is easiest done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank at the beginning. Just don't hit the gong and you can continue to fight Frank as long as you want. You can't die during this fight. To counter attacks, press :square: the moment the enemy is about to hit you and Jack will counter the attack. Repeat 50 times.

Perform 200 3-hit combos

This one is easiest done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank at the beginning. Just use this combo: :triangle:, :triangle:, :triangle:. Just make sure all of your punches are a hit, otherwise it won't count.

Complete any level (excluding the Prologue) without firing a shot

This is easier than it may sound. Select any Chapter and just kill every enemy using only hand-to-hand combat or Shadow. I'd recommend Chapter 2, though. As the enemies there don't have as many guns as the ones in other chapters and you have Frank and Shadow to help you out most of the time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/39.jpgHeavyweight (S)

Perform 100 5-hit combos

This one is best be done during Chapter 2 while fighting Frank. To perform a 5-hit combo press the following buttons: :triangle:, :triangle:, :triangle:, :triangle: + :circle:, :triangle: + :circle:. Just make sure that every single punch hits Frank and that he doesn't block it. Otherwise it won't count.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/42.jpgHonor the dead (S)

Collect 50 cop badges

There are 5 Cop Badges in every Chapter (excluding the prologue and the epilogue), to find all of them take a look at this guide created by helraiser:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/dead-rights-retribution/50406-badge-locations-guide.html

Silver rating on every level

See "Medal of Valor"

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/46.jpgShhhhh (S)

Complete any level with 10 silent kills, on OFFICER or greater difficulty.

When playing as Shadow, sneak behind an enemy and make sure he or any of his friend do not see you. Then press :cross: to kill him. The prompt will have the line "Silent Kill" beneath it. So if you see that, it'll count towards the trophy.

I'd recommend Chapter 6 for this trophy.

NOTE: The trophy unlocks during the Results Screen, so you'll have to finish the chapter in order to know if you've fulfilled the requirements.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/47.jpgPerfect balance (S)

Achieve maximum VARIATION BONUS on any level (excluding the Prologue)

Mix up your kills between hand-to-hand combat, gun fire and tag team kills to achieve the full 1500 points Variation Bonus. Funnily you can achieve this trophy during Chapter 1 where Shadow doesn't even appear, so if you do it during Chapter 1, all you have to worry about is hand-to-hand combat and gunfire.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/49.jpgGot your back (S)

Complete a level without Jack or Shadow dying (levels 3-10)

Just finish a Chapter of your choice without Jack or Shadow dying. That means Shadow can't go down even when you're playing Jack. If Shadow goes down - the moment where you have to get close to him and press :cross:to revive him - you have to restart. So it is recommended that you send Shadow out only when you're 100 percent sure he's going to survive it. Once you've completed the Chapter the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/50.jpgFirst at the scene (S)

Achieve maximum CLEAR TIME BONUS on any level (excluding the Prologue)

Just complete any Chapter as fast as possible to achieve a 3000 points Clear Time Bonus. You'll most likely unlock this while going for "Medal of Valor"

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/51.jpgFinish him Shadow! (S)

Combine Jack and Shadow to kill 20 enemies in any level, on OFFICER or greater difficulty.

You can perform tag team kills starting with Chapter 3 after obtaining Shadow. To perform a tag team kill weaken up any enemy with Jack, it doesn't matter if you do so with blows or gunfire, and send in Shadow to finish them off. Repeat 20 times during a single Chapter and the trophy will unlock during the Results screen.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/21.jpgRetribution (G)

Complete the game on DETECTIVE difficulty

Just complete the game on the hardest difficulty setting. It's not that hard and you'll complete it without too much trouble if you use cover. Also use Focus Mode (:l1:) often to quickly get rid of your enemies. Just don't do anything too reckless. I found Chapter 6 to be the hardest, so if you've completed that one, it only becomes easier.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/45.jpgMedal of valor (G)

Gold rating on every level

You achieve ratings after every chapter, ranging from bronze to gold. To achieve Gold Ratings, you'll need an estimated 9500 points which are quite easy to achieve.

Here are the bonuses you can achieve:

Clear Time Bonus - Up to 3000 points. Just finish the chapter as quickly as possible. Dying adds additional time, so avoid it all together.

Variation Bonus - Up to 1500 points. Remember to mix up your skills between gunfire, hand-to-hand combat and tag team kills and you'll be fine.

Survival - Up to 1500 points. 1000 points max if Shadow goes down while playing as Jack.

All of the following can reach a maximum of 1000 points, depending on how many of them you've performed during a single chapter:

- Takedowns

- Headshots

- Tag Team Kills

- Counter

- Stealth Kills

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/01.jpgPlatinum Trophy (P)

Collect all the game's Trophies

Congratulations, you've achieved all of the trophies in Dead to Rights: Retribution. You're the best Cop Grand City ever had.

DLC Trophies

Roadmap

Estimated difficulty: 2/10

Offline trophies: 9 (6(B) 3(S) 0(G) )

Online trophies: 1 (1(B) )

Estimated time to 100%: 3-5 hours

Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 1 Assault on the 87th Precinct and multiple playthroughs of Riot Control

Missable Trophies: None.

Glitched Trophies: None as far as I know.

Do cheats disable trophies?: There are no cheats as of now.

Does Difficulty affect trophies?: Yes, it’s nearly impossible to achieve a Gold Rating on Cadet this time.

Step 1: Assault on the 87th Precinct

There are 3 trophies you can unlock by playing the new Chapter from the DLC. “You hear that? We’re official…”, “GAC in Time for dinner” and “Above and beyond”. They’re not too hard to achieve but you will have to play on at least Officer difficulty in order to unlock “Above and beyond” because you need the points multiplier to reach a gold ranking. The level is pretty straight forward, so you shouldn’t have any trouble finishing it.

Step 2: Riot Control

In Riot Control, you have to fight off 6 Rounds of enemies with Jack and Shadow. The enemies get stronger by each round, but it’s still not too hard to beat all 6 rounds once you got used to Riot Control, and most trophies from the DLC are obtained playing Riot Control. The most important part is to keep moving once too many enemies are around you to avoid being surrounded by them. You will fight 2 Bosses during Riot Control too. You'll face Riggs in round 4 and Redwater in round 6. They’re not nearly as hard as they were in single player though. But be careful, in round 6 you will also have to fight two GAC tanks.

The first time you play you should just focus on coming as far as possible to reach at least 350.000 points for “Contender”. Once you die or finish round 6 you’ll get to a score screen and your score will automatically be uploaded to the scoreboard in case you’re connected to the PSN which unlocks “Mark your territory”. In case you finished Riot Control by beating Round 6, you will also have unlocked the secret trophy “Didn’t I kill you already?” which is awarded for beating Redwater in round 6.

Now that you’re used to Riot Control you should start by getting “Jack Slate of all trades” out of the way. There are around 30 awards you can achieve when playing Riot Control and you need 15 unique ones during a single round. Yes, a single round not a single playthrough. So you can’t achieve 7 of them in round 1 and the remaining 8 in round 2. Just look at the awards that are displayed at the end of Riot Control and choose 15 of them that fit your play style and you should be able to achieve them.

The 3 remaining trophies are only a matter of time until you unlock. One requires you to achieve 5,000,000 points over multiple playthroughs of Riot Control (it doesn’t matter if you die or finish round 6, the points count towards your overall total amount) while the other two are linked to Retribution mode. Retribution mode is activated when you earn enough awards fast enough. You will easily notice as your hands are on fire during Retribution mode and you get double the amount of points for awards. Now all you have to do is achieve 500,000 points with awards and kills during multiple uses of Retribution Mode, and 250,000 points from the Retribution Bonus you get when Retribution Mode ends. The bonus can go up to 10,000 so you’ll have to use Retribution Mode at least 25 times to get it. You will be able to activate Retribution Mode multiple times during a round though, or even keep it active for the whole round because awards don’t only fill up your Retribution bar when it’s not active, but they also keep it from decreasing once Retribution Mode is activated.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/52.jpgYou hear that? We're official...(B)

Complete Assault on the 87th Precinct.

Select the new Assault on the 87th Precinct Chapter and finish it. You can access it under “Downloadable Contents” -> “Case Files”.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/53.jpgAbove and beyond(B)

Achieve Gold Rating in Assault on the 87th Precinct.

Remember how you’ve obtained your Gold Ratings during the Main Game, and repeat what you’ve done there. I highly recommend playing on Officer this time though as you won’t have Shadow as another source for points which makes it nearly impossible to achieve enough points without the multiplier. Just finish the Chapter as quickly as possible, don’t die and you’ll be fine.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/54.jpgGAC in time for dinner(B)

Achieve maximum CLEAR TIME BONUS in Assault on the 87th Precinct.

Rush through the level as fast as possible. There are quite a few spots where you can easily save time. First off, when you drop down into the building as Copperhead (The GAC Sniper) just rush to your targets, don’t kill any enemies. They will disappear after you’ve placed the second detonator.

When playing as Kodiak, always charge your fists by pressing (and holding) :l1:. It'll increase your melee damage drastically and will help you out saving time during the unavoidable fighting parts in his section.

The next spot where you can save a lot of time is once you control the GAC Tank. Always use your rockets here, even for generic GCPD units. Shoot the GCPD Vans with your rockets as soon as you can see them, the enemies will retreat then and you can easily take care of them while they’re running away. The first set of enemies might not retreat, so make sure to kill them so that they don’t shoot the tank on your back too much or you will die. You’ll have to destroy three trucks until the GCPD units retreat to the police station. Just take care of all of them as quickly as possible now and you should have gotten the 3000 Points Clear Time Bonus.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/56.jpgContender(B)

Get 350,000 points in a single play session of Riot Control.

This is fairly easy to get. You can achieve 350,000 points by the end of round 3 or beginning of round 4 so if you finish all 6 rounds you will easily unlock it. Just try to get as many awards as possible and try to get into Retribution Mode as much as possible and you will easily rack up over 100,000 points in a single round.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/68.jpgMarking your territory(B)

Upload a Riot Control score to the Scoreboard.

You need to be connected to the PSN during Riot Control for that one. Once you beat round 6 in Riot Control or die during any round your score will automatically be updated to the scoreboards and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/71.jpgJack Slate of all trades(B)

Get 15 unique awards in one round in Riot Control.

There are much more than 15 unique awards you can achieve while playing Riot Control. You can look them up at the end of each Riot Control session and choose the ones that fit your play style the best. You will easily get it after a few plays of Riot Control to get used to this mode. A few of the easiest awards are for Tag Team Kills, Shadow Kills, Command Kills (send shadow out to kill someone, can be achieved at the same time as a Tag Team Kill), Headshot, Disarm Headshot, Explosive (shoot one of the barrels in Riot Control and kill an enemy with the explosion) and Take Down.

NOTE: You have to achieve them during one single round of Riot Control as it is stated in the trophy description.

Get 5,000,000 points total over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.

All the points you earn during Riot Control are added to your overall total score. It doesn’t matter if you die during Riot Control or finish Round 6. Just play as many times as you need to achieve 5,000,000 points.

Score 500,000 points in Retribution Mode over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.

Retribution mode is activated once you get enough awards quickly. Higher scoring awards fill the Retribution bar quicker. When Retribution mode is activated your hands are on fire and all points you achieve are doubled. You can keep Retribution Mode active by earning more awards. Just reach 500,000 points over multiple uses of Retribution Mode and the trophy will unlock. You will have this unlocked long before you unlock “Dedication to the cause”.

Score 250,000 points from Retribution Bonus over multiple play sessions of Riot Control.

See “Hot head” for instructions on Retribution Mode. When Retribution Mode ends, you will get a Retribution Bonus that goes up to a total of 10,000 points depending on how many points you’ve earned during Retribution Mode. You’ll have to reach a total amount of 250,000 points from Retribution Mode over multiple Riot Control sessions to unlock this trophy. You can easily activate Retribution Mode multiple times during one round though, so you should have this trophy a long time before you achieve “Dedication to the cause”.

Hidden Trophy

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/376/55.jpgDidn’t I kill you already?(B)

Defeat Redwater in Riot Control.

All you have to do for this one is to defeat Redwater who appears in round 6 in Riot Control. You can't finish round 6 without beating him, so just play the round the same as the other rounds and the trophy is yours. Redwater is pretty easy to defeat in Riot Control because you can shoot him instead of having to fight him in a melee only fight as in the main game.

Guess I'll change that then. But it's still not really a missable trophy as you can just replay the beginning of Chapter 2.

For your second question, when you proceed through the first level, you will at some point see a cut-scene where Temple is shown how he is kept hostage in the TV studio, telling someone the city won't tolerate terorism any longer or something along those lines. After that cutscene you have to go down some stair, at their bottom there are 4 hostages located with 2 guards, kill those two before they shoot any of the hostages and the trophy will unlock.

Your lucky I had to use the guide on the Xbox website. Nice guide, but do you have any additional tips on how to get gold? Should I atleast play on the normal difficulty? I have done a few on easy and varied my kills, but come up short. That is the only trophy left for platinum and I am ready to give up.

Not really, sorry. As long as you finish as quickly as possible and don't die you should be fine. I got 7/10 Gold Ratings while playing through on Detective and finished up the remaining 3 on Cadet without any problems.
