Introduction

In Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition, players join Rowdy Burns' team as the latest rookie to tear up the NASCAR circuit. With Rowdy as their coach, players learn to hit the pit, upgrade their ride and trade paint with other cars. They can even "drop the hammer" like Cole Trickle for a boost of extra speed. Rowdy Burns is voiced by the actor from the film, Michael Rooker. Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition comes equipped with twelve NASCAR-sanctioned tracks, including Daytona International Speedway® and Talladega Superspeedway®. In Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition, up to 12 people can race to the finish online, log the fastest times on the leader boards, or push themselves to the limit in single-player. There are four different modes – Quick Race, Time Trial, Career, with circuits of varying difficulty, and Derby Mode, where players are encouraged to deal as much damage as they can.-Source

Walkthrough

Step One: Career

You will obtain the majority of your trophies in this playthrough. Many of the races are easy so you should have no problems winning races or money which will help you unlock tracks, sponsorships or buy paints, upgrades, etc. Here you should unlock the following trophies:

  • FTW!
  • Welcome to the bigtime!
  • You are now a Pro!
  • Droppin' The Hammer
  • Eyes on The Prize
  • Millionaire
  • Sellout
  • The Chase is On
  • Full Throttle
  • World Champion
  • Everyone Wants A Piece of You
  • Paint Bucket
  • Pole Position

NOTE: Make sure to unlock all sponsors before your last race. I've heard from credible sources that you must unlock all sponsors in one career in order to unlock the trophy.

Step Two: Derby

In order to unlock this step, you'll have to finish a full career (36 races).

Once you have unlocked Derby Mode, you will go for the Demolition trophy. It will take you a few tries to get it. Trophies you'll unlock in this step:

  • Demolition

Step Three: Online

Really simple to do however there is practically no one online so you may need to find a boosting partner, found here. All you have to do is join a race and Online Racer is yours. Trophies you'll unlock in the step:

  • Online Racer
  • 'This is it, this is what it's all about.'

Ending Notes

  • This guide is to only be used on PS3Trophies.org and may not be published anywhere else.
  • Good luck obtaining your 100%!

Career-Related Trophies

Trophies you can get while progressing through career mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/03.jpg Welcome to the bigtime! (B)

Start new career as a rookie.

Just select the Career option in the main menu and the trophy is yours.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/15.jpg Pole Position (B)

Qualify first for a race.

Once you start your career, select Race and select the track you wish to play on (most likely Phoenix International Raceway) then press :square: to qualify. Race two laps and you should be able to get pole position easily.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/02.jpg FTW! (B)

Win your first career race.

You should be able to get this in your first career race so win it and this trophy will pop.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/08.jpg Sellout (B)

Unlock your first sponsor.

This will most likely come after completing your first race. Each sponsor has certain requirements in order to unlock them so meet all of the requirements for any particular sponsor and this trophy is yours.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/04.jpg You are now a Pro! (B)

Qualify for The Sprint.

In order to unlock this you have to do well (Top 5 finish) in the first 6 races of career mode (Pre-Season) in order to advance to the next series (The Sprint).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/09.jpg The Chase is On (B)

Qualify for The Chase.

Similar to You are now a Pro!, do well (Top 5 finish) in The Sprint series and the next series (The Chase) will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/11.jpg World Champion (B)

Complete a full career.

Just as it says, finish all races in career mode and this trophy is yours. You may need to finish 1st in The Chase standings in order for this trophy to unlock. NOTE: Please see 'Everyone wants a piece of you' prior to completing a career.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/12.jpg Everyone wants a piece of you (B)

Unlock all sponsors.

MISSABLE

There are 19 different sponsors, each requiring you to meet certain objectives to unlock them. To figure out what you need to do unlock a certain sponsor, go to the Sponsors tab located in the Garage section of the Main Menu or Career Mode. I've heard from credible sources that you must unlock all sponsors in one career 'season'. If you don't get them all then, you will have to restart another career. There is no way to go after sponsor requirements in standard races, online or in demolition mode.

Tips for getting this trophy:

Make sure to qualify every race in first, even pre-season and you miss one then you have to start over or at least I did and the sponsors were way to easy for me. Some of the sponsors are easier to get in pre-season as the races are easier also.

OK, I did 3 seasons trying different stuff but in the end, delete the save file. Now qualify 1st and run each race until you get to the last race then qualify 1st on the last race but do not race the last race! Re-race a different race and at the end you will unlock the last sponsor. Once you continue to the main screen, about 10 seconds later the Sponsor trophy will pop and 5 seconds later the Gold will pop for your 100%.

I just got the sponsors unlock trophy and what I did was to unlock everything in the one career season. I raced on the Martinsville track to get takedowns etc. and to unlock every sponsor so I was just left with the qualify 1st on all tracks sponsor then when I got that i didn't do the last race as a previous post said but raced another one and after that the trophy popped.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/07.jpg Millionaire (B)

Make your first million.

This will come as your progress through your career. All you have to do is accumulate $1 million throughout your career. To check your progress, look under the Statistics tab in the Career menu and scroll down to Total Money Earned to see how much you have earned.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/10.jpg Full Throttle (B)

Max out a car's performance points.

Access the Garage from the main menu or Career menu and select Performance. You'll see 5 areas you can upgrade to improve your car. In order to unlock this trophy, you must maximize all areas by buying upgrades. Each area costs $1,925,000 to maximum therefore you will need $9,625,000 to fully upgrade your car. You should be able to afford everything before you finish your career if you don't go shopping for unnecessary items (paints, colours, number styles etc.).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/14.jpg Paint Bucket (B)

Unlock all paint styles.

There are 18 paint styles you have to purchase, each ranging from $10,000 to $20,000. If you win the first couple of races in Career mode, you should have enough money to buy them all.

Demolition Trophies

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/13.jpg Demolition (B)

Earn over 9000 points in Derby mode.

You need to finish a full career in order to unlock Derby mode.

The easiest way I found to get this trophy is to select a small track (Martinsville Speedway or Darlington). When the race starts, move to the side and wait for everyone to pass you. Now, start ramming into everyone. Before hitting someone, hold :square: and :cross: for a better shot at them. The quicker you hit them, the higher the multiplayer therefore you'll rack up points real fast. You will also add more time to the clock every time you hit a racer. This may take you a few tries but with practice, you'll get this trophy in no time.

Online Trophy

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/16.jpg Online Racer (B)

Play your first multiplayer match.

Simple, all you have to do is join an online race and the trophy will pop. You do not need to complete it. There is practically no-one online so you may need to use the boosting thread to find someone to play with.

Miscellaneous Trophies

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/05.jpg Droppin' The Hammer (B)

Use Hammer 100 times in singleplayer.

This will most likely come as you progress through your career. Hammer is a temporary speed boost that you can use to overtake the competition. To charge your Hammer; draft behind cars, pass cars or complete laps without taking damage. To use the hammer, simply press :cross:. To find out how much Hammer you have, look at the meter (the meter that is blue) on the bottom of your screen. To track how many times you've used Hammer, check the Statistics tab in the Career menu.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/06.jpg Eyes on The Prize (B)

Use Focus 100 time in singleplayer.

Again, this will most likely come as you progress through the career mode. Focus is an adrenaline rush that makes everything slow down allowing you to navigate your way out of dangerous situations with precision. Rubbing against cars and walls, impacting cars and walls, or spinning out charges your Focus. To use focus, press :square:. To find out how much Hammer you have, look at the meter (the meter that is green) on the bottom of your screen. To track how many times you’ve used Focus, check the Statistics tab in the Career menu.

Pro Tips:

For dropping the hammer & eyes on the prize you can get both meters full & just tap the :square: & :cross: button to get the trophy faster took me about 5minutes that way.

For the "Eyes on The Prize" Trophy You can get in in 1 or 2 races, then all you have to do is have the green bar filled up and just keep pressing :square: enough to make the screen turn grey. I just got it in 1 race.

Thanks to oswald41 & rightear186!

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/720/01.jpg 'This is it, this is what it's all about.' (G)

Gain all Trophies.

This is similar to obtaining a Platinum trophy, just earn all of the other 15 trophies and this baby is yours.

Thanks guys. I've added these to the Eyes on The Prize trophy description.

Anyone know how to unlock Derby yet? I'm guessing that's where I can get the Demolition trophy but can't figure it out..

I'm not 100% sure but I think you gotta complete the career mode to unlock it.

Yes you're right. complete career and Derby Mode unlocks.you have 90 seconds (if i remember rightly) to try and get over 9000 points for Demolition trophy. go for high combos and you will do this with time to spare :)

Thanks, I'll add this to the guide and give you credit. I'll verify this myself soon before I submit the guide.

Maybe I've been lucky, but everytime I enter multiplayer I find someone. It was my first trophy. The problem is nobody ever stays to finish a race!

That's probably because more people have bought the game after they've received their paychecks. :p

Anyone know if you have to win the title or do you just have to finish?

For which trophy?

I did all that was required for the sponsor trophy and it did not unlock. This is by far the worst game and Sony support is useless

That sucks. I have yet to complete the objectives for that trophy so I cannot confirm if this is true or not. Also, I doubt Sony would know what to do in this situation. You would most likely have to contact the developer of this game about that.

I'm hoping to finish the game up today and submit the guide. If anyone has any suggestions on what to add, let me know. Everyone's help has been great so far. :)

Anyone know what is considered a kill? I seem to only have 3 lol.

I've been trying to figure this out too. This is what I'm thinking:

A kill is wrecking another car enough times to get the meter that goes from yellow to red under the driver's name to fill up.

I may be completely wrong though.

I have problems with 2 sponsors.

Red Bull - which race will be the best to do it ?

Haas Automation - how you can flew ? And where you can flew more than 5M ?

---------------------------edit---------------------------------------

The best place to do Red Bull was for me homestad miami. If you play wiselly, than you should make it with no problems.

I can't remember how I got it but I think I was going pretty fast around a turn and got clipped by another racer and slammed into the wall causing me to fly through the air. I think this can only happen if the 'Crash Cam' comes up showing you flying through the air so you'll need enough damage in order for that to happen.

It's a kill when you hit the other car & the wheels come off of it or it just sits there & doesn't move for awhile.

This is correct. This is best done on a small track with 30 laps. Can't recall the name of it but it's in The Sprint series. That's where I got the sponsor challenge for hitting all cars in one race.

I am having trouble unlocking the 3M sponsor. I will have 2 out of the 3 requirements done, then i would race another race & complete the last requirement one & the first requirement would be highlighted again. Any thoughts? Help?

I did this one at Richmond. I just ran around the track with reckless abandon, trying to knock every car I saw into the wall. I used A LOT of focus and went into the pits every other lap to avoid crashing.

With 10 laps to go, you should have taken down at least 3 cars and then just concentrate on getting a good finish.
