Glitched Trophies?

It has come to my attention that a number of people have experienced glitched trophies with this game. I myself had no problem with any trophy unlocking, however this board is in no short supply of others who were not so lucky. As far as anyone can tell there are really no easy fixes to most of these glitches without starting a new game. Nearly every trophy in Dark Void has been reported to be glitched so be careful.

Introduction

Dark Void is a third-person action adventure game. The gameplay primarily focuses on two parts: third-person cover-based shooting and the flying segments.

The third-person cover-based shooting sections are all about being patient. Like many games these days, Dark Void features a "recovery" system where you regain your ability to take damage as time passes. As you take damge, the perimeter of the screen will blur and become red, signaling you are about to die. After several seconds, the blur and red will fade and the view will turn to normal. However, the effect is very faint so you may not realize you are as close to death as you really are due to the subtleness of the effect.

A unique aspect that Dark Void brings to the cover-based shooting formula is the idea of "vertical cover." Vertical cover is the concept that shooting sequences in the game often take place in vertically inclined environments, as opposed to traditional horizontal environments. In theory, this makes the combat more chaotic, as enemies can come from above, below, or either side of you. In practice, the enemies in this game rarely take advantage of the system, so basically you are just fighting "upwards" and "downward" instead of "forward" and "back."

The main idea in these sequences is to take cover, fire accurately, and if you do get hurt, wait for your health to recover fully before poking your head out again. If you have played the Uncharted games, you know what I'm talking about; the formula is nearly identical.

The flying sequences, primarily based around the jet pack, offer a slew of different challenges and difficulties. During these sections of the game, you will often be exposed to enemies from all sides. Quite often you will go from having full "health" to dead in just a few seconds if you get an enemy ship on your tail (especially on the Hardcore difficulty). However, most of these sequences can be easily conquered through trial and error, a few level specific strategies, and taking advantage of the upgrade system (more on that later).

As far as the trophies go, the list is pretty standard for an action adventure/shooting game. You have to upgrade weapons, kill enemies a certain way a certain number of times, do some miscellaneous things like hijack enemy ships, and of course, complete the story chapters. There is also a set of collectibles that you must find, but it's not that bad. You'll find locations for all those in a link in the appropriate section.

Dark Void is a fun little Capcom game that has a lot of heart, even if all the aspects don't come together completely. It lacks a lot of the polish of recent titles, but the game is by no means terrible or unplayable. Game of the year? Hardly, but if you take it for what it is, Dark Void is an enjoyable way to earn your next platinum trophy. The game is not too time consuming, not too difficult, and you get to enjoy some Nolan North voiceover action. You could do worse.

Let's get started.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete the story on Hardcore difficulty.

The game is not very difficult, even on Hardcore. There are a few trouble spots, but overall the difficulty is manageable. I suggest you use the tech points you earn to upgrade your jet pack guns and your Liberator machine gun, as these are the weapons you will use most. See Grease Monkey for more info on tech points and upgrades. You may choose to pick up as many collectibles (journals) as possible in your initial playthrough, or you can go back and collect them later. See Bookworm for a link to a list of all the journals and their locations so you can check them off as you go. Also, if you follow the trophy guide, you will be able to acquire most, if not all, of the kill trophies and miscellaneous trophies.

Step 2: Collect all journals and more tech points.

After you have completed the story on Hardcore, you may change the difficulty to Casual, and then use Chapter Select to go back to any level you choose. Collectibles, upgrades, and tech points are tracked across all difficulties. You may change the difficulty, and any progress you have made in these areas will remain. You also receive the same amount of tech points regardless of the difficulty you are playing on. Upgrades also cost the same, regardless of difficulty. Again, see Bookworm for a link to a list of all the journals and their locations. If you are still missing any kill or miscellaneous trophies, you may work towards them now.

Step 3: Collect any tech points still needed for upgrades.

The only thing left to do is collect any tech points you still need to fully upgrade your equipment. See Grease Monkey for more info.

Downloadable Content?

The DLC for Dark Void consists of Survival Missions that pit you against ten waves of enemies while defending an objective (either control points or ships). As the mission (divided into rounds) goes on, you gain points for each kill you make. There are two different levels: one focused primarily on ground combat and the other on flight combat. Some of these trophies are significantly more difficult to obtain than any of the disc-based trophies. The DLC is NOT needed for the (P).

:tagdifficulty: :tagstackable:

Complete the game on Hardcore difficulty. The game is not very difficult, even on Hardcore. As long as you utilize the cover system and let your health regenerate as needed, you'll be fine. There are a few trouble spots, but overall the difficulty is manageable. This will also unlock the Dark Void trophy. The trophy will unlock during the closing cinematic, after The Tower of Return chapter is completed.

Note: A number of sources have said that if you complete the game on a difficulty other than Hardcore then go back and use chapter select to play through the game on Hardcore, the Ultimate Bad Ass trophy will not unlock. I recommend playing it safe and playing the game on Hardcore to begin with or starting a new game if you play on a different difficulty initially. If you do start a new game, all your upgrades and tech points will transfer over from your previous one.

:tagcollectible:

Journals are the collectibles of Dark Void. There are 57 total journals, scattered across 12 of the 14 chapters of the game (the first and last chapters, Prologue and The Tower of Return, contain no journals).

Journals are recognizable as small books that are found on the ground. They also shine every few seconds, usually making them noticeable from far away. Most journals are located on or near the game's "main path", although some are quite out of the way.

Click here for the locations of all the journals (credit to DaFaztFingaz): LINK

Also, your radar will be enhanced to show collectibles once you complete the game. This includes ammo caches, tech point pickups and journals. This can be very helpful for finding journals you may have missed.

:tagglitched:

GLITCHED

Weapons are upgraded by spending tech points. Tech points are acquired by killing enemies, shooting down enemy ships and collecting tech point pickups throughout the game environment (the small red orbs and the larger purple orbs). You can upgrade your weapons at any Weapons Locker in the game environment and at the beginning of each chapter.

In order to acquire enough tech points to upgrade all your equipment, you will have to play the game for a significantly longer amount of time than it will take you to complete the story. Replay your favourite chapter(s) and try to get as many points as possible. The trophy unlocks as soon as your perform the final upgrade.

This will almost certainly be the last trophy you unlock.

This trophy does appear to be glitched. The trophy is not unlocking for some players once they have upgraded all equipment to level 3. As of this writing, the exact cause of the glitch has not been determined. If any further developments arise, I will be sure to update this guide.

To view discussion on this glitch, click here: LINK.

Personally, the trophy unlocked just as it is supposed to. When going through the game, I used a mix of the pre-level screens and Weapons Lockers to upgrade my equipment. The last weapon I upgraded was the Magnetar from level 2 to 3. I recommend using the above link to view the ongoing discussion, then make a decision based upon it. There are several strategies that seemed to have worked for other players contained within those posts. Thanks to all for their efforts on this topic.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/269/22.jpg Pack Rat (S)

Pack Rat - Acquired all 30,000 tech points

:tagcollectible:

Tech points are acquired by killing enemies, shooting down enemy ships, and collecting tech point pickups throughout the game environment (the small red orbs and the larger purple orbs). The trophy measures total points acquired, not points on hand so feel free to spend the points on upgrades. Tech points are saved at checkpoints so you do not need to complete a level to keep the tech points you have earned but you do have to reach a checkpoint. You may also use a Weapons Locker. If you die, restart the chapter or quit the game then your tech points since the last checkpoint will not be saved. You will probably unlock this trophy somewhere around the Prison Escape chapter.

Kills and Miscellaneous

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/23.jpgGrand Theft...UFO? (B)

Grand Theft...UFO? - Hijacked 20 UFOs

To hijack an enemy UFO, fly near one and press the melee button (there will be a button prompt on screen). You will grab onto the side of the UFO, at which point you will need to expose the pilot and take him out. To do so, move to the security panel on the UFO and hold the melee button to begin tearing off the panel. Watch out, because the pilot will try to shoot you off his ship as you do this. Use the left analog stick to dodge his fire as necessary. The pilot may also try to shake you off the ship by flipping around, at which point you will need to rapidly press a certain button to keep your grip (the button you need to press is different everytime). Once you have removed the panel, the pilot will be exposed, and you will engage him at close range. Toggle the left analog stick back and forth to wrestle away the pilot's gun and finally kill him. You will then be in control of the UFO. You may exit the ship anytime by pressing melee twice.

This trophy is easily acquired during the Breaking Camp chapter. When the chapter starts, hijack an enemy UFO, abandon it and repeat. If you die, you will restart at the beginning of the chapter where you are free to try again.

The trophy will unlock as soon as you accumulate twenty successful hijacks. The hijacks accumulate over the entire game and still count if you die/quit after performing one. This is also a good time to get the Demolition Derby trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/24.jpgDemolition Derby (S)

Demolition Derby - Collide with another UFO 10 times

See Grand Theft... UFO? for info on hijacking a UFO.

This trophy is easily acquired during the Breaking Camp chapter. When the chapter starts, hijack an enemy UFO. Fly the UFO in a circular pattern and you should occasionally collide with other UFOs. You do not need to collide with the same UFO ten times, just any UFOs a total of ten times. If you die, you will restart at the beginning of the chapter where you are free to try again.

The trophy will unlock as soon as you accumulate ten successful collisions. The collisions accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one. This is also a good time to get the Grand Theft... UFO? trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/25.jpgBlind Luck (B)

Blind Luck - Kill one of each enemy footsoldier using blind fire

To get a kill "using blind fire", you must kill an enemy while in cover, without using manual aim (default :l1:). I've tried to provide a list of which chapter each enemy appears in. Most enemies appear in more than one chapter and the chapter listed is not necessarily the first one in which they appear. The different enemy footsoldiers are:

  • Blue Pawn - Crash Site - Standard enemy unit. They have blue lights and wield the Oppressor.
  • Red Pawn - Spare Parts - Among the first wave of enemies in the chapter. They have red armor and wield the Oppressor.
  • White Pawn - The Survivors - In the second half of the chapter, you will accompany Atem to rescue some humans. Before you enter the temple where the humans are located, check in the ruins below. There are several are these enemies in this location. They have white lights and wield the Oppressor.
  • Silver Pawn - Prophesied One - Among the enemies in the first encounter of the chapter. They have white lights, jet packs, and wield the Oppressor.
  • Blue Sergeant - Crash Site - Towards the end of the chapter, two of these guys will show up in a cutscene and blow up the bridge you are standing on. They have blue lights and wield the Disintegrator.
  • White Sergeant - Prophesied One - Among the enemies in the first encounter of the chapter. They have white lights and wield the Disintegrator.
  • Red Sergeant - The Survivors - In the second half of the chapter, you will accompany Atem to rescue some humans. Before you enter the temple where the humans are located, check the broken bridges above the temple. The one closer to the temple has one of these guys standing on it. They wield the Disintegrator.
  • Gold Sergeant - The Revolt - As soon as the chapter starts, one comes through the screen. They have a jet pack and wield the Reclaimer.

The trophy will unlock immediately after getting the last required kill.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/26.jpgThe Big Bang (S)

The Big Bang - Destroy a Knight using a grenade

The Knight Watchers are large, floating enemies with large tails. They wield a mini gun and a missile launcher. Their weak point is their exposed chest (the blue area).

Near the beginning of the chapter Village Attack, you encounter a Knight enemy for the first time. Use the cover in the area to avoid the Knight's attack while returning fire. After you soften him up a bit with gunfire (he'll be smoking), throw a few grenades at him (be sure to cook them for about two seconds). It may take a few grenades to kill him. The trophy will unlock as soon as he goes down.

If you die, you'll restart at the same spot, at which point you are free to try again.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/27.jpgCaptain of the Ship (B)

Captain of the Ship - Destroy 10 enemy aircraft while yours is on fire

The trophy is easily acquired in the Defending the Ark chapter, as you start the chapter in a Survivor fighter. Crash the fighter into a wall or get shot until the ship catches fire, then kill as many enemy ships as possible.

Replay the beginning of the chapter as necessary to unlock the trophy. This is also a good time to get The Devastator trophy.

It is possible to unlock the trophy before this as you can board a Survivor fighter during any aerial combat section where they are present. The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/28.jpgForgot My Tow Cable (B)

Forgot My Tow Cable - Fly though an Archon's legs

The Archons are the huge, beast-like enemies that have large tails and four legs. They have a large energy beam that emits from their head.

The first time you encounter an Archon is in the Into the Void chapter, after destroying both shield generator towers. Simply fly under its body, through its legs and the trophy will unlock.

Fireworks - Kill 10 enemies by exploding a piece of dynamite in the air

WARNING: The description for this trophy is wrong in most copies of the game, it should say "Kill 10 airborne enemies with grenades".

Credit to WrednyPL for providing us with correct translation form the German version of the game and the farming method:

I chose Prophecied One chapter to farm those kills (great chapter for farming multiple trophies btw). I decided to wait for watchers to jump from the Dropship and tried to take them out, before they actually touch the ground - took me some tries but it worked like a charm.

The kills accumulate over the entire game and still count if you die/quit after performing one. This is also a good time to get the Blue Light Special trophy.

Shoot the Magnetar at an enemy to suspend them in mid air. Then switch to another weapon and destroy the enemy while they are suspended. Do this ten times and the trophy will unlock.

The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

A rocket pack guns kill involves the player defeating a footsoldier enemy while flying with the jet pack. You can achieve these kills anytime after you acquire the upgraded jet pack in the Into the Void chapter.

A good place to get these if you need more is the Propheseid One chapter. Towards the end of the chapter, two Watcher transport ships drop off a number of troops to attack the Survivor encampment. The enemies are in a wide open plateau, perfect for swooping in and getting a few kills.

You can achieve this through normal play. The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

During the Prologue chapter, there will be several UFOs to shoot down. Just concentrate on one UFO at a time and you should have no problem bringing down five before the next cutscene triggers. You can always replay the Prologue if you miss the five kills. The trophy unlocks at the end of the chapter.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/36.jpgRocket Clothesline (B)

Rochambeau, I Go First - Kill 50 enemies with melee attacks

A melee kill involves the player defeating an enemy with a melee attack. Some enemies take more than one melee attack to kill. The kill counts as a melee kill as long as the "killing blow" is a melee attack.

You can achieve this through normal play. The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/41.jpgBlue Light Special (B)

Blue Light Special - Kill 3 enemies with one grenade

In the Crash Site chapter, immediately after acquiring grenades for the first time, you will be required to use one to destroy a door blocking your path. After you destroy the door, four Watchers will exit the hole and attack you.

As soon as the first grenade goes off and destroys the door, throw a second grenade in the opening. The timing should be just right to destroy all four Watchers with one explosion. If you are unsuccessful, simply let the Watchers kill you. You will restart with the door still intact, at which point you are free to try again.

This is also a good time to get the Fireworks trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/42.jpgKilling Spree (B)

Killing Spree - Kill 10 enemies within 60 seconds

In the Crash Site chapter, there will come a point when you have to man a turret to destroy a door blocking your path. Once you destroy the door, a number of Watchers will come pouring out. Just keep firing, as there are more than enough to earn this trophy. The trophy will unlock immediately after the ten kills.

Note: This strategy assumes you are playing on Hardcore difficulty. On lesser difficulties, there are sometimes not enough enemies to earn the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/43.jpgThose Aren't Fortune Cookies (B)

Those Aren't Fortune Cookies - Step on 10 slugs

Occassionally when you defeat a Sergeant enemy, a purple slug will emerge from its body. You can kill these slugs with a melee attack.

During the Spare Parts chapter, a cutscene takes place where a purple slug comes out of one of the Watchers. When the scene ends, use melee to step on the slug, then promptly jump off the nearby cliff. You will restart just after the cutscene, where you are free to step on the slug again. Repeat until the trophy unlocks.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/44.jpgLight up the Sky (S)

Light Up the Sky - Destroy 25 targets with the Ark's AA guns

During certain chapters, you will have the opportunity to man the Ark's Anti-Aircraft guns. To enter the gunner seat, press melee near the AA guns.

This trophy is easiliy acquired during the Defending the Ark chapter, as manning the AA guns is the easiest way to defend the Ark. The trophy will unlock immediately after acquiring the required number of kills.

The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/45.jpgMaster of Arms (B)

Master of Arms - Kill an enemy with every weapon

The trophy is obtainable at any point after you acquire the Hypercoil in the Breaking Camp chapter. Kill at least one enemy with each of the following weapons:

  • Liberator
  • Oppressor
  • Disintegrator
  • Reclaimer
  • Magnetar
  • Hypercoil

The trophy will unlock immediately after you acquire the last required kill.

Note: You do not need to get a kill with the Knight's gatling gun.

I'm a Rocketman, Baby - Perform 100 special maneuvers while using the rocket pack

The trophy is obtainable as soon as you acquire the upgraded jet pack in the Into the Void chapter.

To perform a special manuever while flying, press R3 while holding both analog sticks in either direction (UP or DOWN). Do this 100 times to unlock the trophy. It takes less than five minutes to achieve.

The Devastator - Destroy 25 UFOs while piloting a Survivor fighter

The trophy is easily acquired in the Defending the Ark chapter, as you start the chapter in a Survivor fighter. Replay the beginning of the chapter as neccessary to unlock the trophy. This is also a good time to get the Captain of the Ship trophy.

It is possible to unlock the trophy before this, as you can board a Survior fighter during any aerial combat section where they are present. The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

Float Like a Butterfly - Kill 10 attackers immediately after escaping from their melee

Occasionally, when you are near an enemy, they will pick you up and a "Toggle Left Analog Stick" icon will appear. Toggle the left analog stick back and forth to escape the hold, then perform a melee attack to kill the enemy. It seems to have a better chance of happening if you sprint at the enemy.

Peform this ten times over the course of the game. You can achieve this through normal play, although you may have to replay a chapter in order to get all ten. It only happened to me about six times during my initial playthrough. The kills accumulate over the entire game, and still count if you die/quit after performing one.

Survivor Missions: Rack up a killing spree bonus of 33x

During the Survivor Missions, you have a points multiplier that starts at x1 when the missions begins, and increases in increments of one each time you defeat an enemy. When you defeat an enemy, the multiplier will increase by one, and a meter will begin to deplete. If the meter depletes completely, the multiplier will decrease by one. This multiplier determines how many points you receive from each kill. The higher your multiplier, the more points you earn. You must keep your "kill spree" going in order to not loose your multipliers.

Just keep killing enemies to increase your multiplier. This is easier to do on the Battle of Ghen Crag. You should have no problem getting to x33. The trophy will unlock immediately after acquiring the required multiplier level.

Survivor Missions: Complete a wave in a Survivor Mission without taking damage

This is easier to do on the Battle of Ghen Crag. Don't use any bonus multipliers when attempting this trophy. As soon as you begin the mission, fly to the Weapons Locker in the center of the map. Be sure to take the Reclaimer (sniper rifle). Fly to the area with objective Alpha but stay as far away from the enemies as you can while still being able to shoot them with the Reclaimer (use the zoom by manually aiming while hovering). Kill the enemies as they spawn and attack the objective.

If any enemy begins to shoot at you, concentrate your fire on that enemy first. You must make it through the entire wave without being hit once. At some point, you will run out of ammunition. Return to the Weapons Locker and restock there to avoid enemy fire. Again, when you return, just be careful to stay out of enemy range. Also, make sure you do not collide with the environment, as this will cause damage and prevent the trophy from unlocking.

The trophy may take a few tries but it is not too difficult. The trophy will unlock as soon as you successfully complete one wave without taking damage.

Note: If you do take damage, simply kill yourself by falling then select "retry". You will begin the mission with the Reclaimer already in your inventory.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/269/55.jpg Speedster (B)

Survivor Mission: Complete any Survivor Mission in under 35 minutes

There are 10 waves in both missions so you must average under 3.5 minutes per wave. This is easier to do on the Battle of Ghen Crag and the trophy will unlock once you complete all 10 waves.

Survivor Missions: Upgrade a weapon to stage 3 in a Survivor Mission

You can do this in either the Battle of Ghen Crag or Abyss Canyon Missions, just earn enough points to perform two upgrades to the same weapon. Very easy. The trophy will unlock immediately after performing the required upgrade.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/269/57.jpg Epic Hero (S)

Survivor Missions: Complete the Battle of Ghen Crag mission with 4.4 million points

When prompted to do so, choose the following bonus multipliers:

-Time Pressure

-Low-Tech

-Legend

You are defending three stationary objectives, Alpha, Beta, and Delta. Alpha and Beta are above ground while Delta is in a cave below the surface. The Watchers will attack one objective at a time. Each wave of enemies will take place at only one of the objectives. The first three waves will always be Alpha, then Beta, then Delta. After that, it's random, so be ready. The current objective marker will be displayed at the beginning of each wave (and again if you pause, then unpause the game)..

As soon as the mission starts, go to the Weapons Locker in the middle of the map. Grab the Liberator (machine gun) and the Reclaimer (sniper rifle).

Do not perform any upgrades, as the points used for upgrades takes away from your total score. The Reclaimer will kill almost any enemy in two shots, sometimes one (always manually aim the Reclaimer; it seems to do more damage if you look through the scope, even if you are not hitting the head). The Liberator is to mop up enemies if you run out of Reclaimer ammo. Just keep grabbing the ammo pickups, as there is one near each objective.

During later waves, you will encounter more enemies with jetpacks. The Reclaimer is incredibly useful for taking down these enemies. This way, you do not have to fly around and chase them. At the end of wave 5, you will fight a Knight Watcher. At the end of wave 10, you will fight two Knight Watchers at the same time. Unload on them with the Reclaimer and mop them up with the Liberator once they begin to smoke.

Keep moving. Be careful with grenades. Take your time. If you use the above multipliers and keep up a decent kill combo, you will have no problem hitting the 4.4 million points. I ended with 5,744,850.

Also, make sure you kill the little purple slug things that sometimes pop out of dying enemies. You don't have to kill every single one but aim to do it if you can. If you let them all stay in the environment, the game tends to lag and freeze around wave 7.

The trophy will unlock once you complete all ten waves with the required score. This will also unlock Hero.

Note: Your bonus multiplier for using handicaps is not applied until you complete all 10 waves. As long as you earn 733,334 points before the end of wave 10, you will make it (733,334 x 6 = 4,400,000).

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/269/58.jpg Top Ace (S)

Survivor Missions: Complete the Abyss Canyon mission with 4.5 million points

When prompted to do so, choose the following bonus multipliers:

-Time Pressure

-Low-Tech

-Legend

You are defending three objectives, Alpha, Beta and Delta and each one is a transport ship. This mission can be a pain. You will have to get a feel for how to aim while flying, because you must keep a decent multiplier in order to earn enough points to earn this trophy.

Upgrade your jetpack as quickly as you can. It will take a lot of points because of Low-Tech, but once you have the homing missile upgrade, the challenge is fairly easy. Once you have the homing missiles, hold down the fire button to constantly spam them.

Whenever you see one of the big Watcher transport ships, blow it up with the highest multiplier you can for huge points. Aim for the two turrets; if you destroy them, the ship will go down automatically. You can also bonus off of the mines they drop, so milk those for points as well.

When it comes to Archons, destroy the four legs and then do the quick time event on the face end (it's faster than the tail end). Watch out for the laser. You won't have enough points to upgrade the Hypercoil so don't bother doing so.

The only other important tips are to watch your health and time. If you start to take major damage, get as far away from the battle as possible. Taking a hit to your multiplier is much better than starting over and you only have 5 minutes to beat each wave, so destroy everything sharpish.

The trophy will unlock once you complete all ten waves with the required score. This will also unlock Ace.

Note: Your bonus multiplier for using handicaps is not applied until you complete all 10 waves. As long as you earn 750,000 points before the end of wave 10, you will make it (750,000 x 6 = 4,500,000).

Anyone have a suggestion for a convenient place to finish up the Bird of Prey trophy?

A good place to get these if you need more is the Propheseid One chapter. Towards the end of the chapter, Watcher transport ships drop off a bunch of troops to attack the Survivor encampment. The area the enemies are in is a wide open field, perfect for swooping in and getting a few kills.

Great guide Guttsu-87. Very detailed. Now off to start this journey. btw, whats the estimated time of completion for this game? And when you say it will take more than one play to fully upgrade your weapons, are you talking about a whole extra playthrough or just replaying a few missions?

The story takes about eight hours to get through if you just play the game and don't worry about the journals or grinding out the trophies. It took me about twelve hours to find most of the journals the first time through and write a guide for them. Took about another four to go back and find the journals I missed the first time. One more hour of tech point grinding and I had a new shiney platinum in my case.

You can play the whole game again, or just mission select. Personally, I was writing a guide for all the journals as I went along initially, so I had to play through each level again to locate the ones I missed the first time through, and I was still about an hour of play shy of having all the points I needed after I did that.

In each level, there are tech point pickups that give you either 100 tech points (smaller red orbs) or 500 tech points (larger purple orbs). Each enemy you kill on foot gives you 50, and each enemy ship you destroy gives you 100. You need a total of 141,600 points to upgrade everything.

You'll probably hit around 80,000 to 85,000 if you play through the story once and find a decent amount of tech point pickups. Each of the tech point pickups can only be pickuped once, and then they don't appear in the chapter anymore.

You just have to play, really. You could skip the journals on your initial playthrough and then go back and get them with chapter select, that way you'd at least have something to do while you scrounge for points. Or you could just grind it out (I usually watch a movie on my laptop or listen to music while I collect/grind in games :o).

EDIT: And thanks!!

The game is not too time consuming (say, compared to Demon's Souls), not too difficult, and you get to enjoy some Nolan North voiceover action. You could do worse.

Word for word, my feelings exactly.

Thanks for this guide. It's gonna come in handy as I work to finish off those I missed.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/269/ock.jpgBlind Luck (Bronze)

Blind Luck - Kill one of each enemy foorsoldier using blind fire

To get a kill "using blind fire", you must kill an enemy while in cover, without using manual aim (default L1).

The different enemy footsoldiers are:

  • Pawn - standard enemy type
  • Red Pawn - run at you and explode, kamikaze style
  • Blue Pawn - throw bubble grenades
  • White Pawn - throw buble grenades and have a jet pack
  • Blue Sergeant - wield the Disintegrator weapon
  • Silver Sergeant - wield the Disintegrator weapon
  • Red Sergeant - wield the Reclaimer weapon and have a jet pack
  • Gold Sergeant - wield the Reclaimer weapona and have a jet pack

The trophy will unlock immediately after getting the last required kill.

Is it possible to get a listing of some of the best places to find some of these are? I'm blindly hopping from chapter to chapter blindfiring everything that moves trying to figure out which ones I'm missing.

Yeah I'll work on it. This was the one trophy that was kind of weird for me to describe, as the game never specifically lists the enemies or their names anywhere. I actually got the trophy by accident. I'll do my best to get a better description going...

EDIT: I went through a few chapters briefly and provided a little more information in the guide. I still don't know for sure if I have all the enemy types listed. You having trouble makes me think I missed something. If you find anything out, please let me know. Thanks, and good luck.

I don't necessarily think you missed anything, I just think I haven't found everything on your initial list. I should probably play straight through rather than just jumping from chapter to chapter.

I doesn't help that I went through the game using blind fire maybe once. I didn't seem to have much luck with it, so I wrote it off. And I dislike trophies like this that have a varied requirement, with no way of knowing which parts you've already done, and what you still need.

Nice guide, Great job ;)

There's also another really easy place to get the Big Bang trophy

(kill the knight with a grenade), toward the end of the same chapter that you have listed, you fight 2 knights and some footsoldiers, if you kill everything but 1 knight, you can run towards the ship ,and go to the second floor of the building (left side of where you first entered the area) and you'll find a weapon cache , if your out of grenades and haven't killed it yet, the cache will re-spawn and give you 4 more grenades.

I have a problem with the Grease Monkey trophy. I have fully upgraded all of the weapons and also the jetpack but the trophy didn't unlock and it is the last one I need for platinum. Has anyone else had this problem or know a way to fix it?

Thank you.

for the demolition derby trophy, cant you just hijack an UFO then fly straight upwards en then ram it once or twice while the abandonend UFO falls? Im not sure if that could work tho...

and for the blind luck trophy, is blindfire the fire mode without pressing L1 at all times, or just when you're in cover and the crosshair disseapears completely?

Awesome guide btw Guttsu-87!

You have to be behind cover, and use just R1 to fire. You'll still fire in a pretty straight line, so it's just a case of moving the right stick to line up your target with your bullets. Quite easy to do and more often than not, a safer way to kill enemies on Hardcore mode.
