About The Game:

A downloadable version of the 1995 Genesis/MegaDrive game.

Sketch Turner is an artist in New York City. One day while Sketch is drawing, there is a huge thunderstorm and a bolt of lightning hits Sketch's image, bringing it to life. That image is Mortus, a megalomaniac mutant who wants to become real and rule the earth. Mortus magically transports Sketch into the pages of his comic book so that he can end his creator's life and become real. Inside the comic book, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who believes he is a superhero that came to save their post-apocalyptic world from the evil brought by Mortus' hand. Now Sketch must save the comic book world and get back to his own...

Step 1 - Complete the Game Along with Abusing the Save Feature:

It's possible to obtain all the trophies in one playthrough. You'll want to use the save function regularly when you are in a safe spot if you have performed well over the section. Start a new game selecting any Custom Move you wish, but don't select the Block Custom Move for it's not needed and is completely useless. Throughout the game you'll need to break through destroyable metal doors, etc and punching these objects will cause you to lose a large portion of your health meter. So you'll want to have a Custom Move that allows you to perform an attack instead. Using your Custom Move on these objects will save the large amount of health that you would've lost from Sketch's standard punches. You'll start the game off in Episode 1: Night of the Mutants where you'll obtain a majority of the trophies. In the very first area you spawn in with the Dynamite, Knife, and Iced Tea items. I suggest that you save your game before you attempting the following trophies:

  • 3rd Grade (B)
  • Boo-Ya! (B)
  • Orange Bull (B)

Once you save your game in a save slot. You can do the 3rd Grade trophy by pressing and holding down the :square: button to have Sketch make a paper airplane from the comic. When you do this make sure that you have Rapid Fire turned off or you'll be unable to make the paper airplane. The next thing you can do is pick up the Dynamite and use it by pressing either corresponding button in order to use the Dynamite depending on what slot the Dynamite is in (If it’s either of the following slots: Item 1 = :l1:, Item 2 = :r1:, Item 3 = :triangle:) doing so will unlock the Boo-Ya! trophy. The last thing you can quickly do is use the Iced Tea to restore your health by picking up the Iced Tea and then pressing the corresponding button in order to use the Iced Tea depending on what slot the Iced Tea is in (If it’s either of the following slots: Item 1 = :l1:, Item 2 = :r1:, Item 3 = :triangle:) doing so will unlock the Orange Bull trophy. Once you've unlocked all three of those trophies at the start of the game exit your game and reload your last saved file. Now proceed to clearing the first episode as normal. Along the way you'll need to rescue Sketch's pet rat, Roadkill. As well as clearing your first page for the following trophies:

  • Rats! (B)
  • Unknown Territory (B)

To unlock the Rats! trophy on Episode 1 you'll want to pick up the Dynamite, Knife, and Iced Tea and continue on to the next frame. Defeat the 2 enemies that you encounter here and then you’ll be given the opportunity to go either down or right into the next frame. Select to go down by pressing either the  or  buttons. In this area you’ll see 4 barrels piled together. Stand next to the barrels and lay down your Dynamite to destroy the barrels. Continue to the left frame after destroying the barrels. To your far left you’ll see Sketch’s pet rat, Roadkill being guarded by an enemy. Defeat the enemy and destroy the cage by pressing :square: repeatedly, then simply stand over Roadkill and pick him up by pressing either the  or  buttons. Now that you have the Rats! trophy you'll want to continue on clearing the game as normal. Remember to abuse the save function as always whenever you do well in an area before moving onwards. It won't be long before you completed your first page of the game. You'll know when you completed your first page when Alissa says "WELL DONE TURNER!" while Sketcher will reply back with "Oh yeah!”, when this happens the page will change thus unlocking your Unknown Territory trophy.

Around the same time you unlock the Unknown Territory trophy, you should have also unlocked the

Points I trophy for Scoring 10,000 points. These Points trophies are very easy to obtain and you'll have them all before you have even completed the game. So along the way you'll have the following trophies as well as the completing the Episode 2 and Episode 3 trophies that will unlock just by simply playing:

  • Points I (B)
  • Points II (S)
  • Points III (S)
  • Buddha Says (B)
  • Accelerate Your Hero (S)

The last things left that you need to unlock are endings. There's a Good Ending and Bad Ending. Before you face the final boss fight against Mortus at the end of Episode 3: Curse of the Dead Ships, I suggest that you save your game in another slot so you can reload it for the other ending that you'll need for the last following trophies:

  • Complete The Game (S)
  • Choice is Good (G)

You can unlock the Complete The Game trophy on this playthrough. If you rescued Alissa on time before she drowned. If you failed at saving her for the first time it's okay because you needed to receive the Bad Ending anyway also.

Step 2 - Reloading Your End Game Save File:

If you have been saving your game and you've successfully saved your game before the last boss fight against Mortus. You'll want to do the opposite ending that you didn't get or do on the first playthrough. If you received the Good Ending then you'll want the Bad Ending. If you received the Bad Ending then you'll want the Good Ending. After you have seen both endings, you'll obtain the Choice is Good trophy if you needed the Bad Ending or both the Complete The Game/Choice is Good trophies if you needed the Good Ending.

General Tips:

  1. Enemies can harm each other. Take advantage when enemies damage their own allies. It will take less amount of damage needed to kill them.
  2. Instant killing enemies with the environment. When there's a destroyable object such as a bomb, stake, or a fan, get on the opposite side of the enemy and roll him/her towards the object by pressing either  + :right: or  + :lsright:. They cannot hurt you when you're rolling. You can also knock an enemy off a cliff to kill them as well in some parts off the game.
  3. Always keep Roadkill. Roadkill is needed to clear the Episodes. Once you have him you'll want to keep him. For he's able to find hidden objects and to aid you in non-passable areas.
  4. Sketch's sixth sense. When there are hidden enemies on the screen, you'll notice that Sketch will always be in ready to fight stance instead of resting.
  5. Useful fighting tip. When you're fighting an enemy, it's effective to use the  /  punch control attacks on an enemy. This works because the enemy cannot block both these attacks and will end up getting hit with Sketch's upper cut attack.
  6. Using items against bosses. Try to save your inventory items as best as you possible can for they're useful against bosses. When you're fighting a boss always use your offensive items such as a Knife, Grenade, Dynamite (very useful), or Superhero (very useful but rare).
  7. Using the Custom Move effectively. Throughout the game you'll notice that when you're punching a destroyable object repeatedly you'll lose a portion of your health meter. To reduce the amount of health that you'll lose it's best to perform your Custom Move on these destroyable objects when necessary. You'll break through metal doors, boxes, etc much faster and will keep more health than you would've lost if you just used Sketch's standard punches. Keep in mind to never select the Custom Move Block when you start a new game for it's completely useless.

Inventory Items:

  • http://tinyurl.com/3l5m7h2 ICED TEA:
A swallow of this refreshing drink will partially restore a depleted health meter. Save some for bad times!

  • http://tinyurl.com/4yal5em SUPERHERO:
This fist turns Sketch into a page-ripping superhero!!! Use it when the going gets tough.

  • http://tinyurl.com/4ybhban KNIFE:
A good old-fashioned long-range weapon! Great for turning switches and setting off explosives at a distance.

  • http://tinyurl.com/3k2mvt2 GRENADE:
Some hard-to-reach bozo giving you a hard time? Throw him one of these and watch the fireworks!

  • http://tinyurl.com/4xxagql Dynamite:
Danger - high explosives! A dynamite weapon that blasts whatever nearby... including Sketch!

  • http://tinyurl.com/3wxr4gr SURPRISE:
Pick up the "?" and you could get any of the other powerups, or KABOOM! So, don't touch these if your health is low!

  • http://tinyurl.com/42gaptn ROADKILL:
This is Sketch's pet rat. His tail got electrified during the warp. So let him use his new-found ability to your advantage ZZZAP 'em! Don't forget. Roadkill has a good sense of smell. He can often sniff out hidden goods!

Trophy Guide:

01.jpg  Complete the Game (S)

Rescue Alissa and complete the game.

This trophy requires you to rescue Alissa and to complete the game. This trophy is actually the Good Ending were you rescued Alissa from drowning in time by defeating the final boss, Mortus and his flying creatures. If you're fast enough to defeat them in time quickly hit the switch to the left of Alissa to drain the water and to open up the chamber. I suggest that you save before the final boss fight just in case you happen to fail or didn't defeat the enemies in time. Below is a complete video walkthrough of the game with the Good Ending:

Spoiler

Episode 1: Night of the Mutants

Episode 2: Welcome to the Temple

Episode 3: Curse of the Dead Ships

02.jpg  Choice is Good (G)

Receive both endings.

For this trophy you must receive both game endings. The endings that you'll have to receive are both the Good Ending and the Bad Ending. It doesn't matter which order you received them in just as long as you've seen it. I suggest that you save before the final boss fight. That way you can reload your game save for the other corresponding ending that you need left. Below are both the Good and Bad Endings:

Spoiler

Bad Ending: The ending where you beat the boss and but you didn't rescue Alissa in time.

Good Ending: The ending where you beat the boss and rescued Alissa.

03.jpg  Points III (S)

Score 50,000 points.

For this trophy you must Score 50,000 points. This is pretty simple and is somewhat of a story related trophy. You’ll have approximately about 80,000-95,000 points on average just by simply completing the game, so this will unlock naturally just by playing through the game.

04.jpg  3rd Grade (B)

Use a paper airplane.

For this trophy you must use a paper airplane. First of all make sure that you go into Help & Options, then Controls, and turn off Rapid Fire, having Rapid Fire on will not enable you to acquire this trophy. This trophy can be obtained in the very first stage of the game. As soon as you begin the stage simply press and hold down the :square: button to have Sketch rip a piece of paper from the comic book and he’ll make and throw a paper airplane. Making a paper airplane will take a portion of Sketch’s health. Plus the paper airplane will come back and can harm you. I suggest that you either restart your game or save before you do this.

05.jpg  Points II (S)

Score 30,000 points.

Please refer to Points III for more information.

06.jpg  Accelerate Your Hero (S)

Complete Episode 3.

This is story related and therefore can't be missed, but do note that this trophy unlocks only after the credits finish. Episode 3 is Curse of the Dead Ships. Proceed through the routes of the comic until you make your way towards the final boss, Mortus. Below is the strategy to defeating the Mortus boss:

Spoiler

During this final boss fight to rescue Alissa, you'll notice a switch to the right that will activate the rocket thruster on the bottom floor to your left. You can defeat Mortus very easily by luring him under the rocket thruster and then flipping the switch. In order to lure Mortus underneath the rocket thruster stand under the first platform, then when Mortus jumps down, quickly jump on the platform with the switch and activate the rocket thruster, then jump back down. Rinse and repeat until you've killed Mortus. Once he's dead finish killing the two flying creatures that are left.

07.jpg  Buddha Says (B)

Complete Episode 2.

This is story related and therefore can't be missed. Episode 2 is Welcome to the Temple. Proceed through the routes of the comic until you make your way towards the boss, Kung Fu Master. Below is the strategy to defeating the Kung Fu Master boss:

[spoiler=4]During this boss fight, Kung Fu Master will hover over the background field and will shoot fire balls out from his hands that will land into the water to create a shockwave that will harm you. Jump over these water shockwaves repeatedly until Kung Fu Master faces you face to face. When he attacks he'll shoot his long nails at you like a knife. He's able to fire two of these nail blades at you (also note that these will explode upon contact). Dodge these attacks by jumping over them or ducking under them depending on the angle he shot from. The ones that you dodged will get stuck on the walls behind you. From here it's best you jump up in the air and kick him into his own nail explosives. Rinse and repeat until the Kung Fu Master is dead.

Note: Kung Fu Master will usually say "How fast are your reflexes?", but when he says "I'm everywhere", he's about to die.

08.jpg  Unknown Territory (B)

Finish the first page.

This trophy is story related and can be obtained on the very first Episode of Night of the Mutants. Simply playthrough the stage as you normally would in order to reach the boss for the stage. Each Episode is two comic-book pages long. Once you’ve reached the end of a page and proceed on to the next area you’ll see the comic flipping a page over your game screen. Once this happens your trophy will unlock.

Note: When Alissa says "WELL DONE TURNER!" Sketcher will reply back with "Oh yeah!”, when this happens the page will change thus unlocking your trophy.

09.jpg  Points 1 (B)

Beat Score 10,000 points.

Please refer to Points III for more information.

10.jpg  Orange Bull (B)

Use the Iced Tea to restore your health.

For this trophy you must use the Iced Tea to restore your health. Iced Tea can be found throughout the game as an item. This trophy can be obtained in the very first stage of the game. As soon as you begin the stage you’ll see your first Iced Tea right next to a Knife and Dynamite. Simply walk over on top of it and then press either the  or  buttons to pick up the Iced Tea. If you’re doing this at the very beginning of the Episode 1 be sure to use the Dynamite or make a paper airplane to hurt yourself. Now press the corresponding button in order to use the Iced Tea depending on what slot the Iced Tea is in (If it’s either of the following slots: Item 1 = :l1:, Item 2 = :r1:, Item 3 = :triangle:). I suggest that you either restart your game or save before you pick it up due to the fact that Iced Tea is a great life-saving item to have in your inventory.

The Iced Tea looks like a bottle:

11.jpg  BOO-Ya! (B)

Use the Dynamite.

For this trophy you must use Dynamite. Dynamite can be found throughout the game as an item. This trophy can be obtained in the very first stage of the game. As soon as you begin the stage you’ll see your first Dynamite right next to a Knife and Iced Tea. Simply walk over on top of it and then press either the  or  buttons to pick up the Dynamite. Now press the corresponding button in order to use the Dynamite depending on what slot the Dynamite is in (If it’s either of the following slots: Item 1 = :l1:, Item 2 = :r1:, Item 3 = :triangle:). I suggest that you either restart your game or save before you pick it up due to the fact that Dynamite is a great life-saving item to have in your inventory.

The Dynamite looks like well...Dynamite:

12.jpg  Rats! (B)

Rescue and pick up Roadkill.

For this trophy, you must rescue and pick up Roadkill. Roadkill is Sketch's pet rat. Roadkill is needed in order to proceed onto the next stages. The first opportunity to obtain the trophy is on very first stage. Once you begin Episode 1, pick up the Dynamite, Knife, and Iced Tea and continue on to the next frame. Defeat the 2 enemies that you encounter here and then you’ll be given the opportunity to go either down or right into the next frame page.

Note: You can still get the pet rat, Roadkill, even if you choose to go right instead of going down. Going right might cause you to lose more health due to the fire barrel being there along with an enemy as well. Once you destroy the barrel and kill the enemy, go down the next frame and you'll find Roadkill trapped in a cage all by himself.

Roadkill looks like a mouse head:

Awesome guide man! It's always nice to get a 100% in a little over an hour.

Thank you man, yes it's a very short game to 100%. It wasn't was hard as I thought it be but the boss fight in Episode 2 was frustrating when I first fought him. still a fun game. :D

Good, my next 100% :)

Good Guide man, I'm gonna try this game next

Fantastic guide, Leo! Just got 100%! :)

Great RM blaze-ship-pudding! Sure made getting all the trophies in one runthrough easy.

Never played this game before but damn is this game hard.

Fantastic RM & Guide blaze. Lots of effort put into it!

Thank you for all the feedback. :o

Edit: Due to a question PM to me on the PSN I have updated the guide on not selecting the Custom Move Block. Reasons, you'll lose a lot of health just by destroying the metal doors since you can't break them with the Custom Move Block. As a result you'll end up have to restart your game over due to the metal door you encounter in Episode 2 which is insane if you decided to use the standard punches to break it. Selecting any other Custom Move will destroy these objects much easier and will save your health meter.

Oh what, you mean you weren't suppose to be breaking down doors with your punches? No wonder I had such a hard time.

Yep, Using Custom Move on those doors broke them down quickly. Punching them will take away a lot of health.

Does anyone know if the Unlimited Health cheat disables the trophies?

No cheats on the console versions. But you can save wherever you want which makes it easier.
