CackNBallz
I attended Video Games Live earlier this month hosted by Tommy Tallarico when it was at Massey Hall in Toronto. Tommy highlighted the importance of music in video games and Castlevania was one of the games that were performed by the live orchestra. I for one have been thoroughly surprised by the overall quality of this game. I loved that they rebooted the series in this way but the thing I loved most about this game was the soundtrack to pretty much all the levels. The music does indeed sound "epic" which I think is overused but this description is correct in this case. Óscar Araujo did an amazing job From the outset of the game in the first level against the Warg, it set the tone and pumped me up. Here are a few of my favourites: The Warg - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZsWiIvWeD0]Youtube - Castlevania Lords of Shadow - The Warg[/ame] The Ice Titan - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4-AVow9WBc]Castlevania Lords of Shadow Music - The Ice Titan[/ame] The Final Confrontation - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kvzhoq2SHuk&feature=related]YouTube - Castlevania Lords of Shadow Music - Final Confrontation[/ame] Belmont's Theme - [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8Uqy9L_xtk&feature=related]YouTube - Castlevania Lords of Shadow Music - Belmont's Theme[/ame]
Satnamji
The music certainly isn't anything I would listen to in my iPod (though some video game music I would), but it definitely enhanced the cinematic qualities of the game for me. It was good enough that I took note of it while I was playing, though due to the game's length, I got tired of hearing some of it.

Snowman59
I'm not a huge fan of the game but the music is really great. My 2 favorites : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESuCH2E1k5U]Castlevania : Lords Of Shadows - Castle Hall music[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmUZ8B2pgAc]Castlevania : Lords Of Shadows - Waterfalls Of Agharta music[/ame]
Ratgax
Oscar Araujo did an impresive work with Castlevania BSO, one of the best assests in the game.
CackNBallz
Ohh I really liked those two tracks as well Snowman59! Especially the Agharta Falls, very soothing especially after a heated battle.
Snowman59
I also like the mix between melancholy and calm that gives off this tune. By the way, the melody from the music box is the original Castlevania theme, Vampire Killer : [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsqPtD048to]Castlevania - Music Box[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AZ5XZHIDh0]Castlevania - Vampire Killer[/ame]
KyoRML007
i love the musci in this game. in a sense, it was a good call not to have all remixes from classic songs,

Kanes_Inferno
The music in this game is greatness, it really sets the tone. I wouldn't listen to it on my pc but as far as game music (that isn't from RPGs) this is easily one of the better soundtracks (imo).
Henrich29
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow have the best soundtrack ever imo. I LOVE the World Map musics (which i can't find for some reason) and the music at the beggining of this video: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQEw8QoODQs&lc=MCcgkaZwvx8yCJqfxij6R2tyvb8N5UUgbmjtL-pZC1w&feature=inbox]YouTube - Castlevania -Lords of Shadow- Paladin Mode Chapter 3 Boss - Cornell No Hurt[/ame] which i also can't find, WTF? ZOLANTON
I never paid attention to the music, meaning it mustn't have made an impression to me. Now that I heard it again I would say it's just ok.
JohnnyC
I was really impressed with the soundtrack while playing the game; clearly it was in the game's best interest not to do remixes and such, as this game had a more cinematic feel than any previous Castlevania games. Having familiar tunes would of just ruined the atmosphere they were shooting for. Still, even though it was the right choice for the game as a whole, the music on it's own does not match some of Yamane's compositions... too bad she left Konami

omnislash
I really enjoyed the music in this game, very fitting and glad that most of the older castlevania was not in this game as I felt it would of not fit in well. But I still like the older castlevania music
codraziel
As far as castlevania goes this was pretty meager. but good!

Birth
One theme evokes Heavy Rain in my mind whereas another one reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus. Don't know the names of any of the themes though.
Zelos
No, I don't agree with you. The music is not memorable at all, half the tunes sound the same and I can also tell you why - it's just some orchestra playing some 08/15 music without any real melody that's standing out or holding the whole thing together. And that's also why the soundtrack of former Castlevania games is a hundred times better than what you hear in this game. While I can see why the composer chose to make music like this since it complements the game just fine I can certainly say that the whole "Castlevania feeling" is COMPLETELY absent because this is just some classical music and nothing more. What made Castlevania stand out from many other similar games was the memorable and unique soundtrack it had. Music that wouldn't fit with many other games thus making it an unique gaming experience that absorbs you into the world of vampires and werevoles and some guy with a whip who just about destroys everything getting in his way. The music you find in this game could be found in any other game. Or even in any movie. That's where I'd say it fits in very well with this game but I am very certain that it could have been much, much more than what it is. All of the tracks are really well composed but the style of the music itself doesn't stand out. It's just background music and nothing more. Tunes like Vampire Killer, Bloody Tears etc. nearly make me jump out of my seat feeling like a total badass - ready to kick some monster's butt. This game's soundtrack, while technically well crafted, doesn't stand out at all and therefore I cannot think of it as any more than "some orchestrated music". Melody is what it's lacking. But well - the whole game didn't come out as I would have wished it to. What I imagined when I first heard about Castlevania on PS3 was something like this: A calm string tune plays while the camera slowly reveals what the rain made hard to see: a dark castle with bats flying out of the front gate and gargoyle statue to the sides of it. The view switches to a 2D side angle and you see a shadow walking from the left side of the screen towards the castle. The strings in the background music slowly ascend as the shadow lets a whip hit the ground. The camera charges up the man's face and at that split second a tune like Vampire Killer starts playing. He charges towards the castle and the game begins. I bet many of us expected something like this and I am very positive that this would have been a better design choice than making the main character seem so sad and... I don't know, I just hate him and wish I could think of him as more than just some whiny man with a whip. :/ Edited March 31, 2012 by Zelos
