Overview:

-Estimated trophy difficulty: 6.5/10 Trophy Difficulty Rating - PlaystationTrophies.org

-Offline: [11] (B)-8 (S)-2 (G)-1

-Online: [2] (B)-1 (S)-1 Technically only two trophies demand and require you to play online, the rest can be obtained by either solo play or co-op play with friends.

-Approximate amount of time to 100%: 15-20 Hours or less, highly depending on skill.

-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 2 (Normal Mode to unlock insane mode, insane mode to unlock trophy)

-Number of missable trophies: None, zero, zilch. Everything can be replayed at your convenience. Isn’t this game awesome?

-Glitched trophies: None, to the best of my knowledge.

-Do cheat codes disable trophies: There are no cheat codes, to the best of my knowledge.

Introduction:

Castle Crashers is a medieval action/adventure game where you play as knights attempting to save their kidnapped princesses using skill, magic, and weapons! It is extremely fun and addictive, even more so playing with others. The normal mode of the game is relatively easy and goes by pretty fast, however Insane mode is a rude awakening. Insane mode is brutal, requiring you to be a high level and have other high level friends watching your back. It requires patience and skill, to the extreme. You can go through the game and worry about trophies afterwards because it will be much easier since you will have a better understanding of the game, more weapons and magic, and you'll already know what to do. The trophies you want to worry about first are probably going to be the multiplayer ones. You're going to want to go for the 2+ players ones first, such as Conscientious Objector and Kay Eye Ess Ess. You can also worry about some of the other miscellaneous trophies like Animal Handler, Treasure Hunter, and Melee is Best, if you haven't gotten them already. Now the last trophies you will want to go after would be Medic, Social Networker, and finally Arena Master. Arena Master requires you to play online and in ranked, random matches. This can be boosted with a partner with certain settings and timing. Medic is pretty straight forward, and volleyball requires a bit of patience and skill. Overall, it's not as hard as you think. It's probably about a 3/10 or less difficulty without Insane mode, but Insane mode is simply that hard. I'm going to stress that now.

Step One: Normal Playthrough

Your first mission here is to playthrough the game on normal mode, preferably in multiplayer. This will unlock the "Traditional" trophy. Normal mode shouldn't prove to be too hard and you should be able to finish it fairly quickly. Along your way you can go for various trophies such as "Kay Eye Ess Ess", "Conscientious Objector", "Treasure Hunter", and "Deer Trainer". Don't worry if you don't get them now, as they are easier left to the next step.

Step Two: Clean Up/Various Trophies.

Here you will want to play the levels over again and get any various trophies you may have missed, such as "Animal Handler", "Treasure Hunter", "Melee is Best", "Medic", "Deer Trainer", "The Traitor", and "Maximum Firepower". This will not only net you most of the trophies in the game but also will level up your character, which will greatly aid your Insane mode playthrough. I would suggest following a collectibles guide for the animal orbs, as that will make the process much quicker. After this step is finished, all that should be left are: "Arena Master" "Social Networker" and "You Are Insane".

Step Three: Online

Now you will be focusing on "Arena Master" and "Social Networker". These can be done legit, or boosted. If you would like to boost them use this thread *Here*. Otherwise you can get them normally, although that will take longer. Now all that you have left should be "You Are Insane".

Step Four: Insane Mode

This step can be difficult. Complete the game on Insane Mode. This is saved for last not only because it is the hardest trophy in the game, but also because the experience gained from completing the rest of the trophies first should make your life a bit easier in this mode. See "You Are Insane" below for some tips to make this step easier.

Trophy Guide

Traditional http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Complete the game using any character.

This trophy is self explanatory. Simply clear the game with any character. The original cast, unlocked characters, DLC characters, it doesn't matter. Just play with whoever tickles your fancy. This can be done alone, or online. The story itself shouldn't prove to be too difficult and you should be able to finish it fairly quickly. If you run in to any trouble just get a friend to play with you, as the game is easier with more people. The trophy should unlock after defeating the final boss.

The Traitor http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Defeat any boss by playing one of his own minions.

This trophy is self explanatory as well. All that you need to do is unlock a minion by playing through the game. Once you have the minion unlocked, simply replay a boss level with the minion you just unlocked and kill the boss.

The first minion can be unlocked by beating the "Kings Arena" level in solo play, which is available at the start of the game. Then the easiest and quickest place to kill a boss would be the "Barbarian Boss" battle. Once you have killed him, your trophy will pop.

Deer Trainer http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Navigate the Abandoned Mill without hitting any obstacles.

This trophy is gotten on the "Abandoned Mill" level. This trophy actually does take some concentration, but nevertheless, it is not too difficult. Look ahead, there's a large amount of time you can use to act on where and when you want to move. Be prepared to jump (Press :cross: ) on a moment's notice, and look ahead to the light coming from the doorways to see where to move. The CPU controlled deer know the correct path and where all the obstacles are, so following behind one will make the trophy easier.

There are a few different types of obstacles that will block your path. Small Logs take up a small amount of the screen and can be jumped or dodged with a fair amount of ease. Big Logs cover the entire width of the screen and cannot be dodged. They MUST be jumped. The final obstacles are the doorways themselves. They are open in one spot only, miss that spot and you will have to restart.

It can be a little difficult at first, but with a little practice and concentration this can be gotten easily enough.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/06.jpg

Maximum Firepower http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Using a catapult, fling a knight with maximum power.

This one is simple. The level "Flowery Field" contains the games catapult. The castle crashers will use it to launch themselves over stuff. All you need to do is launch yourself when the meter is full by pressing :square:. While it may be a little difficult to get the timing correctly the first time, overall it should come fairly easily.

Animal Handler http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Collect all the animal orbs.

For this trophy you must collect all the animals in the game. Some can be bought, while others are hidden fairly well. The easiest way to get this is to follow a collectables guide. The sister site has a wonderful animal guide that can be found here: LINK

*In addition to the animals found in the guide linked above, 2 more animals must be purchased from the "Insane Store", costing 5500 gold each.*

11000 dollars is quite a bit of money, so there are a few ways to farm money fairly quickly and efficiently. The first is to repeat the Barbarian Boss level over and over. He can be beaten in roughly 30 seconds and the battle yields about 120 gold. Add in loading times and starting the level up again, you can earn about 120 gold per minute fairly consistently.

The next spot is much better, if your character level is a bit higher. The Painter boss in the final castle can be killed in about a minute and this battle gives about a whopping 260 gold. He can be repeated without even leaving the level and this is also much better in terms of experience points than the Barbarian Boss.

I would recommend farming at the Barbarian Boss until you are strong enough to farm the Painter Boss with ease. Do this for a while and you will have your 11000 gold for the last animals.

*TIP* It is possible to purchase the final to animal orbs and get the trophy, but keep your money. The first step is to get all the 11000 gold all at once, and purchase both animals at the same time, very quickly. As soon as the trophy pops, press the PS button and quit the game. Re-enter the game and you will have your trophy, and your money back. However, you will no longer have the animals, but they aren’t very helpful, so that money can be better used on something else.

*Credit to Aaron29 for this tip*

Note: Animals can be earned/purchased across multiple characters. (Thanks to legndorock for confirming this.)

Melee is Best http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Defeat any boss without using magic.

This is self explanatory. Simply beat a boss without using your characters magic attack. The best boss to get this in is definitely the Barbarian Boss. It may take a try or two if you press the magic button by accident, but shouldn't prove to be too difficult.

It should be noted that if playing with other players, they are NOT allowed to use magic either. Everyone in the party must use melee only.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/11.jpg

Treasure Hunter http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Find and dig up 10 buried items.

In order to get this trophy you must first obtain the shovel. You can get it in the level called "Desert", before the space ship level. Once you have the shovel you can dig wherever you please, but to dig up buried items, make sure to dig on the little 'X's on the ground. Then simply switch to the shovel and dig it up. These will be spread out through all levels so you can continue to play the game as normal and if you see an 'X', dig it up.

If somehow you don't dig up 10 by playing through the game and you need to go out and find some, you can equip the animal "Pazzo" (little orange dog), whose special ability is to seek out dig spots. Pazzo can be purchased for 750 gold in case you need to use him.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/12.jpg

Medic http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

In a 4 player game, resuscitate each of your fallen comrades at least once.

This one is easiest boosted. It must be done in a 4 player co-op game. This can be you and 3 boosting partners, you and 3 spare controllers, or any combination of the two. Regardless of how you get the 4 players, have 3 of them stand still and get attack until they die. The player going for the trophy can then revive them using the :triangle: button. After reviving each of your team-mates once, your trophy will pop.

*Note: All 3 revives must be done within one level. Doing it across multiple levels won't work.*

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/13.jpg

Social Networker http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_bronze.png

Reach 20 hits in a single Volleyball rally.

In order to get this trophy you must start a game of volleyball and volley back and forth 20 times without the ball hitting the ground. So get a partner or two and start a match. It may take a few attempts to get a volley of 20, but it shouldn't prove to be too difficult.

I would recommend playing with a full group of real players so you don't have to rely on the AI, who can be pretty unreliable in terms of hitting the ball back.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/01.jpg

Kay Eye Ess Ess http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Collect all 4 Princesses' kisses in a multiplayer game.

The 4 princesses are located in each of the boss levels. Upon defeating the boss and rescuing the princess, the player will then duke it out with the other players to decide who receives the ever so valuable kiss. The winner of the battle will get the kiss. You can either win the battle for all 4 bosses or play with a partner and trade off receiving the kisses. Either way, after receiving the fourth kiss from the fight after the credits, your trophy will be unlocked.

The first princess (Red Dress) is after the Barbarian boss.

The second (white dress) is after the boss of the Cyclops Fortress.

The third (blue dress) is after the boss of the Ice Castle.

The final princess (orange dress) is after the final boss.

*Note* This must be done all on one character, but it does not need to be done in one session. It can be done whenever you please.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/05.jpg

Conscientious Objector http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Complete the Home Castle through the Barbarian Boss areas without attacking any foes.

This trophy requires you to simply… do nothing, from the "Home Castle" level until you defeat the "Barbarian Boss" level. You can do a single jump or defend but DO NOT attack, use magic, double jump (this does a little damage when you spin).

You can get this by using 2 controllers or by playing with a friend. If you want to do this alone, connect another controller and kill everything with that character and have the main character just stand there until you are ready to move one. This works, although it is a little more difficult than doing it with a friend.

By far the simplest way is to play with 1-3 friends and basically let them do all of the work while they essentially drag you to victory. Just let them kill everything while you focus on not attacking or doing damage in any way shape or form. Upon beating the Barbarian Boss, your trophy will unlock. You got a trophy for doing nothing... wow your good!

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/08.jpg

Arena Master http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_silver.png

Win 40 Ranked Arena matches

This one is boostable but a little difficult. It involves one player going to "Create Match" and hosting a game(preferably with settings: 2 players, no hidden characters) and the other player searches for a match with the same settings in "Custom Match" while hoping to get matched up or try to fight it out and get a win the normal way.

There are a few power moves that you should be aware of that will make your time getting this trophy much easier. First of all, learn to use the blue knight’s magic jump (or any other magic for that matter). This freezes your enemy in place and allows you time to attack them as soon as they break free. These few seconds of attacking can mean the difference between winning and losing.

The next power move is the red knight’s standard magic ability. The lightning he shoots out will hold the enemies in the bolts until you run out of magic. This can be absolutely devastating to the enemy, because if they get hit by it, they can't do anything until you run out of magic. Once you are out of magic, you can fight until you build your magic back up, or run around avoiding the enemy until you’re ready to strike again.

Also it is worth noting that all 40 wins must be done on the same character. Regardless of whether you choose to boost it or get it legitimately, after receiving your 40th victory, your trophy will unlock.

Alternatively, you can just have the other player quit and the game will still count it as win in your stats (credit to Hogger for this info).

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/387/09.jpg You Are Insane http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/site/icons/trophy_gold.png

Complete Insane mode and become the ultimate Castle Crasher.

This is by far the hardest trophy in the game. You must first beat the game on normal in order to unlock insane mode, then you need to replay all of the levels on insane.

This trophy is best saved for last because doing all of the other trophies first will inevitably raise your characters level. If you try to do this trophy too soon you will be too low of a level and will have an incredibly hard time. The game recommends you be at least level 60 to play on insane.

If you are having too much trouble there are a few things to do:

Level Up: Nothing will help you more than having a stronger character to help you through this. Playing with a lower level character will make this much more of a slaughter-fest than it will be with a higher level character. We personally recommend going in with a level 99 character. This video below shows a pretty good way to power level to beef up your character but please note that you need to play unpatched for the exploit to work since it was removed with the 1.01 patch:

A few other spots I prefer to farm experience are:

1: The Troll boss in the Thieves Forest (Insane Mode). He spawns infinite minions throughout the course of the battle that provide tons of experience.

2: The Flowery Field (Insane Mode). The bees in the beginning of the battle aren't what make this a good farming spot. It's after you fling onto the castle with the light saber guards that yields a pretty good amount of experience.

Play with Partners: Again, even if you are struggling with a level 99 character, you next move would be to get some partners (preferably level 99 as well) to play with. It's common logic that 4 level 99 characters are better than 1 so playing with some other people should make the getting through insane mode much easier.

Get Better Equipment/Animals: If even playing with partners isn't enough, getting better weapons and more effective animals could give you the little edge that you need to emerge victorious.

It is important to have a weapon that is critical hit enabled, such as the Gold Mace from the Insane Store.

For more tips on Insane Mode, please check out this link: The Behemoth Community Forums • View topic - The Forgotten Knight's Insane Mode Guide

Upon defeating the final boss, your trophy will unlock, and if you were following the roadmap, you will have 100%. Great Job!

Note: All of the required levels listed in blue in the insane mode guide must be completed in order for your trophy to unlock. Please verify that you have completed all the necessary levels for the completion of insane mode before you attempt another method of unlocking said trophy.

How come this game came out so long after the 360 version?
The Behemoth just preferred the 360 at the time and they are a relatively small studio so they didn't have the resources/skills/experience to develop for the PS3.

Great guide, although I don't think you need to have a character maxed out to attempt Insane mode. I mainly say that because I have beat it with non-maxed characters.

We said in the road map that the difficulty is based on skill. Some people are better and may be able to do it with lower level characters, but some people who arent as skilled may need maxed out characters to do it.

Thanks everyone, yeah its too bad that no EU date is set, in the US it should be released in a few hours. As soon as Whitey and i check the "Social Networker" trophy we are gonna submit this.

EDIT: Confirmed our method for Social Networker, guide submitted :)

I know it is going to be hard to say this, cause there is a lot of awesome PSN games out there, and a lot of exclusives, but I honestly think this is the best PSN game ever. The humor, the art, the gameplay, the co-op (on-line), make this game very special. There was something about Fat Princess that I loved, but this game came along and swept me off the floor. I said to myself where have you been all of life when playing this game!! It is a lot of FUN!!
