Introduction:

Captain America: Super Soldier is SEGA's latest game adaptation of a Marvel Comics superhero. The game action is a third person acrobatic superhero assault upon a Nazi castle that takes place during WWII. Captain America uses his unique martial arts acrobatic combat style, shield combat, and shield throwing abilities to take down various enhanced Nazi enemies. The game is released to coincide with a movie release but the game story is not the same as the movie and no spoiler will take place from experiencing one or the other.

The game has a main story mission and, after beating this, an open free roam mode. A Challenge Mode will also be unlocked following the game but requires completing some of the challenges and collectible trophies to unlock them all. Simply completing the game will not unlock all of the challenges so they will need to be done last.

Step 1:

Easy Difficulty + Collectibles

If you want the quickest route to platinum select "Easy" as your difficulty. There are no difficulty related trophies and so the entire game can be played while on this setting (and even changed at anytime). The enemies are easier to kill on this easiest setting and Cap himself can take more damage. There are also settings you can activate that allow Cap to auto-aim his shield when throwing if you wish to make this useful attack easier too. Check the settings and find what works best for you.

Many trophies are earned by simply completing chapters in the game and still a few others will come just from experimenting with different attacks throughout the story. Read through the combat trophies section of the guide and make certain to try all moves to find what works best with certain enemies. Shield throwing, grabbing moves, and even power finishing moves work well when used against the proper enemy. Distance enemies that shoot can also be killed by learning to correctly time the blocking :l1: of the shot to reflect it back upon the shooter. One particular move to remember to learn is grabbing an enemy and using their weapon to kill others. Killing 10 enemies in this manner unlocks the trophy, Unfriendly Fire. Performing Crippling Strikes regularly (:r1: + :square:) will ensure you reach 50 and earn Pow, Right in the Kisser!. A few other trophies to look out for are: And They All Fall Down (4 kills with a focused shield throw) and Grace Under Pressure (acrobatic feat with perfect timing 5 times).

Collectibles are heavy in Captain America and you should know that important ones glow gold for a short time after you press . Use this to constantly check for hard to see items (intel and eggs), unlocked doors, and even sometimes the path to take next. The important trophies to focus on while playing the story campaign are causing 500 items (including computers, barrels, and gas tanks) to explode (He Hates These Cans!), collection of intel (Star Spangled Superhero), and collecting Ceramic Eggs (Eggman).

The exploding objects trophy can take some time to earn and requires some consideration while on your first playthrough. Luckily however, leaving and re-entering an area will also re-spawn explosives needed for the He Hates These Cans! trophy. This includes after completing the game and gaining the ability to freely roam the map.

Intel is very important too but cannot be farmed like explosives. Intel is usually found as folders or "Dossiers" littered throughout Hydra’s castle. Sometimes it is a single folder and other times it will be in the form of multiple files, a briefcase, or even enemy film reels. Intel is even earned from some actions such as using Enigma Keypad code machines to unlock doors or sabotaging a device with the quick electrical mini-game. All intel, however, is used to "rank up" Cap's abilities and to obtain Star Spangled Superhero (requires 25,000 points.) Even though there are more intel files than you need for the trophy you still require a majority of them. This means you should constantly search behind crates, in corners, and in slightly hidden sections in order to reach the trophy. The intel will be especially time consuming to collect if not earned during the campaign playthrough.

Collectibles such as Enigma Keypads and statues can be easily earned through playing the main game story. A few other collectibles such as Enemy Schematics, Zemo Diaries, and Zola Reels will even show on the in-game map so you can easily pick them up. The Ceramic Eggs (for the Eggman trophy) and destroying statues (for the Need a Head? trophy) do not show on the in-game map but statues are found abundantly in Chapters 9 and 10. The egg locations are much more important and should be careful picked up using the maps posted in the trophy guide. It will be very difficult to find any eggs you missed after the main story is complete. You can find map locations for the ceramic eggs and other important collectibles under the Eggman trophy.

Step 2:

Collectibles clean-up

If you decided to just playthrough the campaign without going for collectibles or you don't have them all after the main story then clean up should come here. The game now allows free roam and all areas are now accessible for a deeper search for collectibles. If you are searching for Intel then you might want to search the prison area or the sewers as there is a lot found in both places. For statues locations, enter the main part of the mansion as you did in Chapter 9. Collectible totals and kill counts for various moves can be found in the main menu.

Step 3:

Getting gold on all challenges

The challenges should be left for last since you will have unlocked all challenge rooms (for completing other trophy requirements) and you will have all available upgrades to make the challenges easier. Another helpful thing to do is switch out Cap's outfit to the Classic Cap Costume in the menus. This allows Cap to gain focus faster allowing for more use of super solider power moves to beat the challenges. All challenges are based upon killing all enemies within a certain time frame, collecting items (such as ceramic eggs in a maze), planting explosives within a time limit, and even surviving for a certain time limit. See Can't Stand Any Higher for some tips and videos showing how to complete all challenge rooms in the easiest way.

Combat Trophies:

B73.jpg  Snipe Hunt (B)

25 Snipers defeated

Defeat 25 snipers for the trophy. Snipers are usually found up high and can be taken out by:

  • Throwing your shield. Aim with :l2: and fire with :r2:.
  • Climbing up beside them. Press  to help spot places to climb (shown by a gold glow)
  • Reflecting bullets with your shield. When they fire tap :l1: and the bullet will bounce off your shield and kill the sniper.

2DC.jpg  Who's the Bully Now? (S)

101 advanced enemies defeated

If you defeated all the advanced enemies while playing through the campaign you will be sitting near 50/60. The fastest way to get advanced enemy kills is by playing the Challenge "Ballroom Blitz." Jump on the turret that sits on the stage and kill enemies over and over (two spawn at a time). There are also advanced enemies in the sewers in the campaign. You can enter, kill them, leave and go back to find they have spawned again. Note: If you die kills won't count.

D85.jpg  And They All Fall Down (B)

4 Enemies KO'd with a single Focused Shield Throw

You can get this trophy shortly after earning the move Focused Shield Throw x4. You will also need to have 4 full focus bars (blue bars above the red health meter in the lower left). To perform the move, hold :l2: to aim the shield and tap :r1: on each individual enemy to lock on. The left stick can be used to move between enemy choices. Once you've chosen your 4 enemies, press :r2: to throw the shield. The enemies selected should be the simpler enemies to ensure they are KO'd from the hit.

ADA.jpg  Unfriendly Fire (B)

10 Enemies defeated with a weaponized enemy

To get this trophy you need to use the "weaponize" move that is activated by :r1:+:triangle: (2 focus bars are needed). This only works with the larger enemy and their weapons. Use the weapon to then kill a cumulative total of 10 other enemies. If not complete at campaigns end, build up focus in the Challenge "Ballroom Blitz" (with the turret) and then exit turret to perform the move. If you need more focus simply return to the turret. The challenges can be completed as many times as necessary. Note: If you die, kills won't count.

23D.jpg  Pow, Right in the Kisser! (B)

Performed 50 Crippling Strikes

To use the crippling strike simply press :r1: + :square: with at least one bar of focus. This should be done repeatedly while playing through the campaign. If you do not have the trophy by the end of the campaign you can build up focus and earn more Crippling Strikes in "Ballroom Blitz." See "Unfriendly Fire" for further details.

Collectibles Trophies:

B62.jpg  There Goes The Neighborhood (S)

All AA cannons destroyed

There are 12 AA cannons throughout the game, 3 destroyed as part of the main campaign story, and the other 9 are marked on the maps below. To blow AA guns up you must plant a charge beside them, sabotage the electronics, or mark them for an air strike. Press  to locate the exact location of where you need to go to destroy the guns. The gold glow will often not show unless all enemies in the area have been killed first. Also, make certain to get clear of the area as explosions can easily kill you if you're standing too close.

The locations of the 9 AA guns (not destroyed as part of the main story) are shown here:

West Ward

Spoiler

7DkEqUU.png

Enter the building and go up the spiral staircase. At the top you will find an AA gun. If you turn around right after coming up the stairs you will see a pile of crates where you need to plant the C3. Simply walk around the back of those crates and use  to locate the precise location. Remain against the wall away from the AA gun while it explodes and don't try to run by it during the countdown as it will likely kill you.

West Rail Line

Spoiler

7gRK6Wg.png

A long hallway prior to leaving the level will have a ladder leading up. Climb up and you will see the AA gun overlooking the valley. Opposite the AA gun is a panel that you open with :circle: in order to perform the electrical wire sequence. Push the two sticks toward one another gently (:lsright: + :rsleft:) but make certain not to push them too close. Get clear while the AA gun explodes.

Orchard

Spoiler

1) This AA gun is found while you are running through the trenches, to place the C3 charge you have to defeat all enemies that are within the radius of the AA gun. After you are done, press  to help yourself find the plant location and :circle: to plant the charge. Get clear before it blows up.

2) The next AA gun is found in the trench just like the first. Blow it up by performing the same actions but simply make certain to defeat all enemies prior to planting the C3.

3) You won't necessarily pass this third area while playing through the story but once again it's in the trenches and destroyed in the same manner as the other two.

Hangar

Spoiler

F64YXY9.png

To get this AA gun you have to make use of Caps acrobatics skills. Use the poles that are on the walls to swing across and press :circle: to place the charge. The location can be found easily by pressing  (to cause it to glow gold.) Make use of the zipline after you place the C3 to aid you getting a clear distance from the explosion.

Both guns are found on raised platforms and require acrobatics to reach. One of the guns on the Tank Path can be difficult to find without going to a nearby platform to investigate the aiming device (which allows Cap to call in airstrikes). The following video shows how to reach both Tank Path guns.

Caused 500 objects to explode

There are many objects that you can blow up in this game such as red explosive barrels, gas storage tanks, and computers. Simply throw your shield at them from a safe distance to explode them. Explosives often cause a chain reaction to other explosive objects and can be used to damage nearby enemies and groups of enemies. If you blow up everything while you play through the game you should easily obtain the trophy but if you necessary you can return to sections already visited and the explosives will be there again for you to blow up. An on-screen counter reflects your total objects exploded at every 10 items destroyed.

1776 Intel Points collected

See "Star Spangled Superhero" for details.

ACB.jpg  Star Spangled Superhero (G)

25000 Intel Points collected

Intel can be found all throughout the game and is collected by picking up dossiers, Hydra briefcases, using Enigma Keypads, and using electrical wires to activate machines. Intel points available exceed 34,000 points and these points are what you use to earn upgrades to Cap's skills.

To find as many available points as possible check corners, break boxes, and regularly make use of  (Cap's special vision) to reveal intel item locations with a gold glow. Intel points can also be earned following completion of the main story missions including during the Challenge Mode. The sewers contain a good chunk of points if you find yourself needing more.

Skill Trophies:

6C7.jpg  Grace Under Pressure (B)

Achieved perfect timing x 5 while platforming

There are a few places to get this throughout the game but you should just get it on the 1st chapter. Near the end of the level you'll hear Cap say "Tower coming down, got to move!" then you will jump out a window. Great timing is the key. Don't watch Cap but watch the circle with the :cross: button in it. Wait for the circle to get smaller and tap :cross: as soon as it gets small enough to perfectly fit the button icon in. Do it 5 times in a row, without failing, for the trophy. If you miss obtaining this you can turn around and vault back in the opposite direction to try again. The Motorpool map on Chapter 3 is another opportunity to earn this.

To earn the trophy you need only complete one challenge mode. Performance is not a factor.

All Challenge Modes completed

To earn the trophy you need only complete the 10 challenge modes and your performance does not matter.

8D1.jpg  Window Shopper (B)

All Challenge Modes unlocked

Challenge modes are unlocked by completing the main story missions as well as finding collectibles. This will be unlocked after completing the story missions if you have followed the roadmap order for completion. Note: A special collectible Ceramic Rooster is located in Chapter 6 (see collectible map "Chapter 6 (Part 3)", item number 3 under the "Eggman" trophy) and this special collectible is also required to unlock all challenge modes. Refer to the trophy "Can't Stand Any Higher" for details on obtaining Gold on every challenge mode.

See "Can't Stand Any Higher" for details.

50% Golds awarded in Challenge Mode

See "Can't Stand Any Higher" for details.

562.jpg  Can't Stand Any Higher (G)

100% Golds awarded in Challenge Mode

The Challenge Modes should be done as a last step. The challenges are only unlocked through completion of other requirements and Captain America will have all upgrades to make taking out numerous enemies easier.

There are various ratings earned based on performance and Gold is the highest challenge. For this trophy you'll need gold level in all 10 challenges. Getting Gold can be anything from surviving 5 minutes to hunting ceramic eggs in a maze. Not as difficult if you choose "Easy" as your difficulty setting but some must be done quickly with a set path or success will be very difficult.

Always keep focus built up for advanced soldiers and use the reflect gunfire move (tap :l1: ) at every chance. Also, try to use the weapons of gun wielding enemies by using the weaponize move (press :r1: + :triangle:). This move allows use of more powerful enemy weapons which devastates health on most enemies. Crippling Strikes are also very effective (:r1: + :square:) and shield throws can go a long way toward quickly taking out groups of enemies. Lastly, remember the goal to earn gold. If the goal simply requires finding items then bypass enemies to save time.

Here are some tips:

Overdue Penalties Challenge - Get quick kills and try to reflect bullets where possible.

Hedge Maze Challenge - Avoid fights to collect eggs faster

Up and Up Challenge - Perform acrobatics quickly. You must kill soldiers at top before planting C3.

Prisoners of War Challenge - Take out enemies quickly. Final boss must be killed by reflecting her bullets back.

Ballroom Blitz Challenge - Go to the stage and use rocket launcher to easily kill all enemies. Note: This challenge is good for farming kills, including the special kills which require focus bars.

Domo Challenge - Use your shield to block incoming fire. Only concentrate on picking up collectibles and not killing anyone.

Bunkhouse Blitz Challenge - Avoid enemy fire with rolls and reflection of shots. Throw your shield often and remember weaponize move and other special attacks.

Triptych Challenge - Rolling and throwing your shield work well. Remember to repeatedly tap :triangle: to open the front of robot for the finish move. Use focus strikes on last robot to get faster damage.

The St. Vitus Dance Challenge - Shield throws, don't work well Screamers but reflecting Screamer attacks will often kill large groups of regular enemies. After 3 shots, Screamers become vulnerable to attack. Remember to weaponize Screamers when possible in order to use their weapons on other enemies.

Roboto Challenge - Shield throw for base enemy kills. Reflecting shots and rolling away from damage also work well in this large area (including for Iron Cross). When Iron Cross kneels, climb him and strike by repeatedly pressing :triangle:. Save Crippling Strikes for a quicker finish at the end. Be aware of button press sequences that are always the same. Focus power attacks regain health if you are low. See here for a video walkthrough:

The collectible part of the guide will be changing drastically soon, i just filled them in until Kryp finishes them up. Some descriptions for other trophies will be toned up too. If any mistakes are spotted please feel free to share! :) Also some things might not make sense because i wrote it with the road map in mind.

The format of this guide feels like a mess (I understand it's a work in progress) but listing trophies by chapter doesn't flow very well.

ANd I'm not trying to be a troll or jerk, I'm just trying to provide some positive criticism. I've never made a guide, so I'm sure there is loads of work that go into it!

Good luck!

Dont worry im scrapping the Chapter set-up for now, it didn't prove very useful. ;)

See when i first started playing the game i had no idea there was free roam after you complete the game and i thought everything had to be done in one playthrough. Turns out there is free roam and nothing can be missed.

I recorded all of the Gold Challenges that you have to get in the game all in one video.

I hope this helps everyone especially, the latest challenges which are slightly tiny pain of time waste.

Need a Head?

50 Statues destroyed

You will come across your first statue in chapter 9. there will be statues on the balcony you start the level on. There will be more statues down below in the courtyard and in the mazes. Be sure to check every corner. once you finish chapter 9, you will begin chapter 10 inside a mansion. there are statues here in the hallways. be sure to check every room you come across in the mansion. after you fight "madam hydra" for the first time, you will follow her into hallway where she says "seal the doors" there are a lot of statues here. please note: you can destroy tall statues and statue heads to get this trophy. I hope this helps
