Veteran Walkthrough and Tips

In this thread I'll be posting my walkthrough for all missions on veteran in detail. Hopefully this will take away some of the frustration players face when going for the platinum.

The trophy guide recommends you do Veteran first to ease the Hardened and Regular playthroughs, which I agree with, unless you want to just enjoy the game the first time through, in which case you should start with Regular. However, if you're new to the game, doing a first playthrough on Veteran will be very hard and you'll be pulling your hair out on many missions. This guide hopes to alleviate that by providing detailed do's and dont's for the progress through each level.

General tips: Move from cover to cover, learn the enemy spawn points so you know what to look for. If you take a hit early in the mission, die and reload the last checkpoint as you're unlikely to finish the mission anyway. The game will not autosave checkpoints if you're too low on health (< 50%). Rely primarily on taking out enemies at range, or waiting for them to run into your line of fire. Let your teammates do some of the dirty work on the missions where they are available. Take your time and don't get frustrated after a few deaths - you will die a lot beating this game on veteran.

You can snipe enemies easier by leaning (press the left and right keys on the dpad) out from cover. Hold L1 to aim down your sights, then quickly tap a direction to lean out. Keep tapping and adjusting your position slightly to line up a shot, then tap + shoot and you should be able to snipe enemies without having to worry about getting hit.

I've rated each level according to difficulty:

1 - Easy. You'll probably need just a few attempts.

2 - Medium. Several attempts likely, but the level has no significant chokepoints.

3 - Hard. Level is generally hard or has at least one chokepoint where multiple deaths is very likely.

4 - Very hard. These select few missions are the hardest in the game, and you should be prepared to spend a couple of hours if necessary to beat them on veteran.

Mission 1: St. Mere Eglise - Pathfinder 1

Difficulty: 1

You start by parachuting into a field. Immediately head left and up the slope, you'll see a guard ahead. Snipe him, then continue left until you find the sergeant strung up by his parachute. Pick up the leg bag and approach the bunker. Line up a shot on the left guard to take him out, then wait for the other guard to come running before you take him out. Progress through the bunker and plant the radio beacon in the field (CHECKPOINT). Now immediately leg it all the way across the field until you get to the houses to the right. You should stay in the rightmost corner where the fence meets the wall. Wait for your team to land and the fighting to start, then wait for the bombers to blow up the roof of the building you're standing near. Your team will enter the house and finish off any enemies at the front. In short; wait and let the NPCs do the work for a while. You should get an "objective completed" message on the objective "defend the drop zone". Wait for your team to enter the house then follow them inside. At the corner, watch out for possible enemies at the top of the blocked stairs right ahead (CHECKPOINT). Take them out and continue outside, get behind the wall and your team will move up into the next building. Move inside the house and you'll see a german truck pull up outside. Leave the house and let your team do some of the dirty work again. Wait it out then quickly move through the living room into the next room. There are probably enemies alive outside near the truck still, so be careful. When exiting from this room, equip your Thompson and spray bullets behind the open door, there is sometimes an enemy hiding there. Once that's done, simply enter the trench ahead to finish the mission.

Mission 2: St. Mere Eglise - Pathfinder 2

Difficulty: 3

You start with having to cross a field. Switch to your carbine and stay left. Once you cross the road, two MG42s will open up. Use your carbine and the L2 lock-on to get a target on the MG42 in the window, take it out. If you're positioned right the other MG42 should be blocked by a cow carcass. Crawl into position to take out the gunner, then quickly move across the field, heading diagonally right and avoiding mortar fire until you hit the wall on the opposite side. A third MG42 will open fire from a downstairs window; lob a grenade in it then fire through the window to take out the guards inside. Move upstairs in this building to take out another guard (CHECKPOINT). Head back downstairs, exit the building and go into the next. You should see wall fence with a hole in it. You can snipe off a few enemies in the doorway ahead from this position while your team attacks from the front. Again, wait for your team to finish off any stragglers then head around front. Be careful, there's a halftrack with a machine gunner up ahead. Scuttle along the wall here and the enemies in and around the building ahead will come alive. Do not look around the corner to your right, instead go back left and take out a guard coming along the side of the house. Do this by leaning out from cover, the halftrack shouldn't pick you up straight away. Keep checking this corner for more enemies trying to flank. Once it's clear, approach the door on the building ahead but don't enter it. Let your team run ahead and you'll probably hear them taking out more enemies. They'll take up position inside. Approach the rightmost window on the far wall (CHECKPOINT). Switch to your carbine, lean out, and take out the machine gunner on the halftrack. Hop through the window and get behind the center part of the wall (the tallest part). A gunfight will start. Lean out to the right and take out the MG42 gunner, then take out the sniper in the upstairs window and the enemies in the downstairs window dead ahead. Now concentrate on the leftmost house. Snipe enemies in the windows and doorways. Be very careful not to expose yourself to multiple enemies at once. Your team will move across when all the enemies are dead. Follow them into the house (CHECKPOINT). A new gunfight will start. Let your team handle the inital enemies then snipe off remaining enemies behind the fences through the window. Exit and watch out for an enemy taking up position behind the fence to the right. Take him out and move ahead (stay crouched), when you get to the fence you'll trigger some more enemy movement ahead. Take out enemies coming from ahead, to the right, and then approach the small brown shack in the middle. Your team will move up when you reach it, and a MG42 will start firing from the church. Let your team deal with a few enemies inside the stone building ahead, then approach it. An enemy will come around the corner (although he sometimes seems to enter the building instead). Take him out, then head around left to snipe the MG42 position. Afterwards go back and inside the building (CHECKPOINT). Snipe anyone trying to get on the MG42 in the church, then make sure there are no enemies near the wall to the left or the opening before heading on to the church. Enter it and take out any stragglers. Approach the hole in the near wall. You'll see the first AA gun through it. First take out the two on the MG42, then spray the enemies on the AA gun before moving around through the hole in the wall noted earlier. Plant explosives on the AA gun. As you approach the corner many enemies will start firing from inside the broken buildings ahead. Hit the dirt and carefully snipe enemies when they pop their head up, use grenades to flush them out as well. Now head across to the buildings, staying left. There will usually be one or two enemies still alive inside here, snipe them from the opening then0jk plant explosives on the panzer (CHECKPOINT). Move up to find a small alleywall between two buildings. Move through this and approach the door on the far building. There are enemies across the yard seen through the other door. Your team will move in and start taking them out. Move into the house once the shooting stops, make sure there's no enemies left. Once you head out the other side your team will move up. You can snipe from behind the wooden wall here, but beware that it is actually destructible. Better to let your team do most of the work, then take out any enemies in the small alleywall between the wall and the house on the right side, before repeating on the left. Take out all the enemies on and around the AA gun and your team should once again advance. Wait for them to take out the MG42 gunner, then move up and plant explosives on the AA gun. Approach the sergeant to end the mission.

Mission 3: St. Mere Eglise - Day

Difficulty: 3

Start by heading into the building ahead to avoid mortar fire. When Johnson gets sent across (CHECKPOINT), line up a shot towards the wall on the right side of the building ahead. Enemies will jump over it, take them out then quickly shift fire towards the door on the left to take out enemies coming through that. About now a tiger will come down the road up to the right, so move quickly. Get out and across, snipe an enemy in the trench at the back wall near the church on your way, then get inside the building. Go through and out the other side. Two enemies will come over the wall to the right, and 4-5 enemies will come around the corner. Take them all out. You can stay at the wall here and wait for them to approach you, which makes it easy. Make sure they're dead then head back into the house and out the other door, and approach the church via the back wall. Grab a panzerfaust then sneak up on the tiger from the left. There will be a few enemies to take out once you get the panzerfaust, then go blast the tank with it. Once you have watch out for an enemy jumping over the wall near the tank, then head back to the church (CHECKPOINT). I recommend avoiding the MG42 unless you're a real wizard with it, because you're really easy to hit while on it. Just let your teammates man it while you snipe from cover. When the nazis retreat, head back through the building from earlier and approach the small alleyway (CHECKPOINT). You should swap your thompson with a MP40 about now, because there's plenty of MP40 ammo to pick up. There will be multiple enemies near the low wall on the left side. Let your team run in advance, and concentrate on taking out enemies on the far wall (some will jump over the wall here) before finishing off any stragglers behind the near wall to the left. You can also just wait and let your team do this entire part. Afterwards, approach the corner and head left to trigger a CHECKPOINT and the next phase. Now, go behind the low wall and hit the dirt. Another tiger + multiple enemies will spawn. Focus on taking out enemies from the side nearest the alley, you can snipe enemies that are hiding behind corners at the end of the alley. The tiger will "park" right near you. Dash across to the other side and take out any enemies that come around the corner, then go around and inside the house to the right. You have a clear shot at the doorway across from the window here. Take out enemies in the house. Now you need to be fast. Move inside the house and kill an enemy in the second room, then immediately leg it back out the way you came. If you do it right, the tank should move up to the house and blast the wall. Now head back through the alley so you come up behind the tank, and hug the wall to the right to make it to the church and pick up another panzerfaust. Do not go back outside, instead head to the nearest window, keeping the machinegun on the tank out of view and pick off an enemy coming out on the left side of the tank. Then switch to your panzerfaust and take out the tank (CHECKPOINT). Head out of the church and kill any enemies ahead, then head for the small alley between the wall and the house. You'll trigger a scene where two NPCs throw grenades into the last tank. Advance forward and duck into the house for protection against mortar fire, then get to the sniper rifle leaning against the wall (CHECKPOINT). Use this to snipe enemies in the field ahead from the middle part of the wall; lean out left to take out the leftmost MG42 first, then shift focus to the wall on the red building just to the right. One enemy will come from the right first, take him out, then take out three more coming around the left corner of this building. You may need to pop out of cover to coax the last one out. Then, take out the MG42 behind the sandbags further right. Continue shifting right (but stay out of sight of the upper part of the silo), take out a further two enemies behind the rightmost sandbags. Then take out the sniper at the top of the silo. Head into the trench and follow it (CHECKPOINT). Head around the back left corner of this building and shoot the two remaining mortar guys in the back, then approach the truck to end the mission.

Mission 4: Normandy, Route N13

Difficulty: 2

Stay inside the car, and fire through the side and back window at enemies. In the first part, just spray bullets at enemies at the roadside and roadblock. There's a CHECKPOINT immediately after the roadblock and you shouldn't have taken any damage. Continue on and you'll soon be pursued by two cars. These you need to focus on and take out. A third will follow. You'll approach a town - stay inside the car and just fire blindly at enemies, you shoudn't take too much damage - if you do just restart from the last checkpoint. Eventually you'll be confronted by a tank and have to ditch the car (CHECKPOINT). Quickly move inside this building and take out the enemies in the far room and hallway. Now switch to your scoped Mosin-Nagant - believe me, this will be your favourite weapon throughout the game. Lean out of the door and snipe three enemies near the far corner. Take out a further enemy at the far left corner. Approach the right corner and there will be an enemy coming around it. Then snipe another in the upper left window of the house ahead, around the corner. Get into the garage, then head upstairs to that window to snipe enemies ahead from it while your teammates are working on the car (CHECKPOINT). Take out all the enemies ahead and left of the near building before getting in the car. Now just spray bullets at enemies and hope you don't get hit for the remainder of the mission.

Mission 5: Brecourt Manor

Difficulty: 2

When you reach the tree with paths branching left and right, go right. Take out the MG42 on the left flank from a good position near the end of the brush here, then focus on enemies near the artillery gun on the right. When they're all down enter the trenches and wait for the sergeant to blow it up. Continue down the trench until you hit 90 degree angle (CHECKPOINT). There are enemies in the trench ahead, as well as an MG42 with a clear line of sight down the trench, so proceed very carefully. Go prone and crawl through to avoid the MG42 fire. Keep going prone and crouched down the trench, taking out enemies until you get to the second artillery gun which the sergeant will also take out. Move past it and wait outside the door. Once the gun has blown up an enemy will come through, making an easy kill, as well as another. Now crouch behind these boxes here and snipe to take out enemies in the room. There's always one hiding behind the doorway diagonally, as well as two more elsewhere in the room. Enter said doorway and two enemies will run at you from the left. Pick up the documents on the table. Advance into the next trench and wait for the sergeant to go after the wounded soldier. Just wait this event out in a corner somewhere. You'll get explosives from the sergeant (CHECKPOINT). Stay around here for a little while to take out all the enemies you can, then move down the trench and blow up the artillery there. There's a MG42 ahead that you'll have to be careful to take out. After that take your time to snipe any remaining enemies across the field. There are a lot of enemies in the trench ahead so take your time. Continue up the trench, taking out enemies as you go. There will be a MG42 nest up on your left, snipe it before going too far into the trench, then clear out the trench and blow up another artillery gun. Head up and over the hill, and kill two enemies down by the shack before heading towards it (CHECKPOINT). Take out two enemies as you approach the barn, then let your team deal with the ones outside before moving on. As you approach the main building there will be another two enemies inside the doorway to deal with. Move through and approach the stairs. Kill enemies that come into view at the top of the stairs, then move up and be careful to take out an enemy at the back end of the room. Move through to the next and clear it out, then grab the documents (CHECKPOINT). You now have to defend the front of the house on the MG42. Use it carefully but don't expose yourself too much. Better to wait at the top of the stairs for the enemies to start piling through, leaving you easy kills. When the attack stops, move out the back of the house and take out another MG42 in the window to your left. Watch out for enemies in both directions ahead, then progress slowly down the path while staying down and taking out enemies at the right side (CHECKPOINT). Snipe all enemies in the pathway leading up to the last gun, including snipers in the windows. Blow it up to end the mission.

Mission 6: Bavarian Alps

Difficulty: 3

Start by moving up the hill and to the right behind the rock. Lean out with the baretta to take out the MG42 gunner right ahead. Approach the gates and take out a further four enemies using the guardhouse as cover. Head inside the hut to take out an enemy in the radio room (CHECKPOINT), then move up the road. You'll be assaulted by two enemies, they are fodder for your baretta. Move towards the gates and you'll see a truck moving up. Use the pillar for cover and kill the enemies around the truck, then move up along the right wall of the main building. There's often one enemy behind the near pillar on the wall, and more at the doorway in the back so watch out. Move towards but not through the door, your team will move through, let them do some work before entering the gate into the garden. Move up further and kill an enemy through the gates to the parking lot, move through it and a truck will speed up. Move back into cover behind the wall and let your team deal with the enemies inside. Repeat this motion again when another truck comes in after you move into the parking lot. Move through and let your team take point into the house (CHECKPOINT). There's an enemy to the right just inside at the end of the hallway, watch out for him. Continue into the next hallway. Another enemy will take up residence behind the right corner, line up a shot and snipe him. Press on, onto the stairs, when you come out at the top carefully look to the left and take out the enemy there, then progress down the hallway. Two more enemies to take out in the hallway, and a further two in the room to the left at the end. Next room, two more enemies. Enter the next room and pick up the documents, then head back down the stairs (CHECKPOINT). The big door at the end of the hallway will burst open with two enemies for you to mow down. There are a further two on the balcony just up to the right which you can carefully snipe. Move into the big room, to the left and through a hallway to another big room. Notice the suspicious lack of enemies. As soon as you enter into this room a bit, another two doors will crack open straight ahead and to the left, upstairs. Take out the guy straight ahead then retreat through the door and all the way to the back wall in the hallway. From here you can snipe the guards in the other room by shooting at their legs, while they can't shoot you at all. There'll also be one to the left and right which you need to snipe carefully before moving into the big room and upstairs. A final enemy hides behind the upstairs wall to the left, he'll run into your line of fire when you go up the stairs. Head through the hallway and approach the door leading outside (CHECKPOINT). Don't go outside, you'll see a truck approaching. See if you can shoot any of the enemies while running into the house, then retreat to just above the stairs and wait for them to come around. You're probably running low on baretta ammo now, so swap it for an MP40 here. Move back to the door heading outside, and carefully poke around the corner to kill two enemies on the balcony, and a third in the opposite doorway. Run across and inside here and you'll be greeted by two suicidal guards. Go through the hallways and approach another open door with the stairs for another pair of suicide candidates. Move down the stairs for a further two machinegun fodder coming darting through the door, then head inside this room and use the bust at the fireplace to reveal the hidden communications room. Shoot a salvo at the radios then immediately turn around and take out the two enemies busting through the door. Your team will meet you. Let them move on ahead to take out the enemies in the wine cellar. Again let your team move ahead to take out the enemies down the other stairs, then get to cover as they blow up the door. Throw a frag in the room to the gunner off the MG42, then take out the enemies inside to rescue Cpt. Price (CHECKPOINT). Head back upstairs to be greeted by a motherload of soldiers in the wine cellar. Peek out then head back down, and back up again. This will typically deposit some of the enemies on the stairs where it's easier to take them out. Do so and clear out any stragglers left in the wine cellar then sneak up the next set of stairs. Use Cpt. Price as a tool to determine whether it's safe to press on; he won't move up unless it is. Go up the stairs on the left side, then kill enemies through the opening through booth doors here until the captain joins you. Progress through this room and into the hallway, and some more suicide wehrmacht will come charging through the door ahead. Go into the room ahead to end the mission.

Mission 7: Strasshoff

Difficulty: 2

This one would be a clear 4 if it weren't for the lackluster AI, plentiful checkpoints, and a truckload of teammates to take the flak. As it stands it's not too difficult. Beware that you have a time limit of just under 10 minutes to complete this mission, but that time is in no way a showstopper. I can comfortably beat it in about 7 on veteran. Start off with sniping the guards in the MG42 nest to the right, then finish off the rest of the guards and follow the truck into the compound (CHECKPOINT). Enemies will burst out the big double doors on the left. In general they'll be doing a lot of that on this level. Whenever you approach a door, expect it to burst open. Enemies inside are easy to take out because they allow you a second before they start firing, or just blindly run into your line of fire. Head left and up the side of this building, briefly stopping to take out enemies on the right before going into the hallway. Take out enemies in the open square beyond and head towards the gates (CHECKPOINT). Go through (to the left), and take out another set of door-busting enemies. Be careful in the square ahead because there are enemies behind the crates to the right, behind the shack ahead, and coming up at the benches diagonally. There's also one inside the shack on the other side. Take them all out and advance into the building (CHECKPOINT). Take out enemies charging into the room and head outside. There's a sniper in the tower to the right and another on the ground. Continue forward into the prison and shoot the guard at the end to free Major Ingram. Now you need to head back the way you came. There will be enemies at every spot you've just cleared, let your teammates take some of the flak and try to flank enemies (the level layout is optimal here; you can easily move around buildings and such). Make your way back to the truck to end the mission.

Mission 8: Benouville, France (Night)

Difficulty: 4

This gets a 4 because of the nighttime unlit map making it hard to spot enemies, the stupid track back and forth while under fire by a tank machinegun, and the number of enemies you need to take down between the second and third checkpoints (which are idiotically spaced). Begin by approaching the bunker and finding a good spot near the road embankment and bushes where you can pop in and out for cover while reloading, then put fire on the bunker to keep the MG42s down while your team clears out the area. Wait until you get the objective completed message, then head into the bridge hut on the right side. Follow your team at a slight distance over the bridge, they will clear out the enemies again and a tank will appear. By this time you should be a the left side near the captain. You will receive new instructions (CHECKPOINT) - but don't go across yet, instead turn around and line up the corner behind the barbed wire. Two groups of 4 enemies will come around this corner, take them out, then wait for a further 2-3 enemies. You've now killed all on this side for the time being. Wait some more until the guy you're supposed to go get slows down on firing. Assure that there are no enemies near the wooden fence across the road, then dart across using the car as a midwaypoint for cover. Stay crouched and approach the engineer, press use on him to get him to run across (let him finish taking out enemies first). Follow him by keeping low, darting to the sandbags and the going prone to reach the cover on the left side of the bridge. Cross while crouched but leg it at the short interval the tank can see you. Use the hut and sandbanks for more cover and wait until the engineer has fixed the AA gun. Now, turn your attention around the left side of the sandbanks across the rivers. Another 4-5 enemies will be here, take them out with your Lee Enfield. Now get on the AA gun, turn it around, and blast the tank, while saying a prayer you don't get horribly killed while doing so. Now there's a CHECKPOINT, not that it's needed at this stage, also there's every chance your health is too low for the game to save after being battered by the tank. Turn the gun clockwise , it's fastest, and try to line up the height of the shot as you turn. WHen you've taken out the tank, head for the trench and hit the dirt. Wait for your team to take out the remaining enemies to end the mission. They might be unable to do so - snipe the last couple of stragglers from the bridge hut, it should be relatively safe.

Mission 9: Benouville, France (Day)

Difficulty: 2

What? Only a 2? Have I gone insane? It's true, this would be a clear 4, going on 7, trying to do it the right way. We won't, however, we want that platinum sometime this month. We'll use tricks to stay out of fire and wait for a timer to hit zero to win the mission with minimum stress. The only hard part is winning the firefight at the start with the gazillion enemies and the completely inept AI of your team. You need to really take your time, it's not difficult but takes a long time if you plan to stay alive. As you start, head into the bridge hut and get on the MG42, wait for enemies to start pouring in from the left and right across the river. Take them out until you hit a CHECKPOINT. I find firing from the MG42 in this game on a console to be an imprecise and frustrating affair, but keep it up, you shouldn't be taking any hits up until this checkpoint in the hut. However, after this checkpoint enemies will start spawning behind you on the bunker side. Eventually they'll find their way into your line of sight and snipe you if you stay on the MG42. I find it best to leave the MG42 once the gunfire picks up behind you, and guard the area outside for any enemies. Lean out every now and again and see if you can snipe the enemies here one by one, leave the area across the canal to your team for now. Once all the enemies on the near side are dead, help your team across the canal. Keep in mind that some more enemies will spawn behind you, this time at and behind the bunker itself. Also, your team are fucking bollocks at taking out the myriad of enemies across the canal so you need to do much of the work there also. Use your Enfield for sniping. Keep going at it until the order to retreat across the bridge comes up (CHECKPOINT). Now you should be running around like a coked up retriever taking out enemies across the canal, at the end of the road, at the sides, as well as getting on the AA gun to take out tank after tank after tank, but bollocks to that. Head left of the bunker and get into the furthest right corner where the wall meets the furthest house, behind the hole in the wall. You can't get hit by the tanks here. Select members of your team cannot die, and you won't fail the mission so long as you stay alive. The only danger are enemies that come through the hole in front of you. Shoot them in the back, and wait for the timer to reach zero. Now just hang back until your team has cleared the area to win the mission. Simple.

Mission 10: Eder Dam

Difficulty: 4

The first real hair-pulling mission of the game. This time you have no help, and a whole dam full of enemies to worry about. Therefore it deserves the first 4. Begin by advanding up the small hill and snipe an enemy you see patrolling. Shift your attention to the dam to see two more enemies react to your shot, take these out then concentrate on a couple of enemies hiding behind the crates in front of you. Advance up the dam (CHECKPOINT) and place explosives on the AA guns. Target the furthest "tunnel" on the dam periodically to see if any enemies try coming at you from that direction. At the third-to-last gun you will also encounter a MG42 gunner up ahead, he's easy to snipe from a leaning position. Swith to your Sten once you've taken out the guards you can see ahead and blow up the last AA gun, then turn around and take out the enemy in the doorway on the right. Proceed through it and take out another enemy in the stairwell (CHECKPOINT). Activate the elevator and get behind the barrel in it. Lean out from here to carefully take out the three enemies in this room. Advance and another enemy comes around the next corner at you, followed by another once the alarm sounds. You'll see a hallway going left and a door after the hallway. Approach the door, there are three more enemies in this room, and two more outside when you approach the other door. There's a CHECKPOINT near the crates you will encounter up ahead, but there's also two enemies who'll come out the door behind. Approach the checkpoint carefully. If you get a save in the wrong spot (too far ahead), the guards will be out the door on your save and you'll be killed instantly on a reload, forcing you to restart the mission. Stay crouched near the wall when approaching the boxes to get a "safe save". Once you enter the big room an enemy will come into the doorway across you making another easy kill. Now switch to your sniper and head right in this room. Lean around the corner to take out two enemies in the hallway beyond. Get to the first "gap" and snipe two more enemies across on the other side, then one more downstairs on the floor. Advance into and through the next hallway, snipe two more enemies while leaning out from cover at the end. Crouch and slowly advance until you can see the floor through the grating. You have to coax an enemy out of hiding here and snipe him. Approach the corner and lean out from behind the pillar to shoot another enemy on the floor. Continue on towards the corner near the next hallway. Two enemies will come running at you, easy kills. Now activate the elevator in the middle of this hallway. Enter it and turn around, then head down. Kill the enemy you see immediately after the elevator hits the bottom floor, then wait in the elevator for two more to come running at you. Exit the elevator for a CHECKPOINT. One more suicidal enemy to take out, then head down the hallway to the end near the pillar. Two enemies will come at you from the other side (don't leave any gaps for them to shoot you through the pillars). Approach the third pillar for another enemy, then head down the stairwell for yet another easy kill. Carefully lean out and watch the area at the bottom of the stairs, left side, for an enemy to pop out. Repeat this with the right side. Head through the room and enter the new hallway to the right. There is sometimes an additional enemy in this room. In the hallway, get out your sniper rifle and take out an enemy sniping from the right corner at the end, then switch to the Sten and head to the end to take out another enemy as he comes around the corner. Head halfway up the stairs, crouch, and aim for the top of the stairs to pick off the enemies coming at you here. Head towards the next corner and lean to take out two enemies in this room, head through and into but not through the doorway outside. One enemy will come out just infront of you, kill him, then lean out from the doorway to kill another enemy right of the crates (CHECKPOINT). Approach the doorway across this small yard, and wait for an enemy to come through. Enter and approach the far door. Stand in the doorway and sight between the two stacks of crates, an enemy will appear here. Take him out and head right behind the big machines, two more enemies. Lean out to the left to take out another enemy behind the other big machines. Head into the doorway to take out an enemy outside, then plant explosives on the AA gun and the big machines inside. Outside, approach the left wall and snipe two enemies across the water. Head through the gate and between the two rocks, snipe another enemy dead ahead. Now run and plant explosives on the two last objectives. Head back and shoot an enemy coming through the door as you approach (CHECKPOINT). There are now a further three enemies inside this room to kill, they'll all try to get into your view so expose a small part of the room, wait, and take them out. Pick up an MP40 and ammo here, you're probably running low on Sten ammo - I was on my last mag after clearing out this room. Head through and outside again, and in on the other side. Three enemies here, use the crates to wait for them to run at you, you might need to tease them a little. Head into the long curving corridor and use your sniper to take out enemies at the end of it. Stay on the back wall and crouch at the end; you'll see the bottom half of two enemies above you. Take them both out with the sniper, then coax a third one out of hiding and take him out too. Approach the right corner. There are two enemies in the next area that like to snipe from cover and move around. A grenade is a great way to get them out of their safe spot to take them out. Sniping from the corner also works. Once you head across, another enemy will come running for an easy kill. Head upstairs and around to the elevator (CHECKPOINT). Once you get up (face into the wall when you start), enemies will come at you from the right for more easy kills in the hallway here. Continue to the right and kill two more enemies around the next corner, as well as one on the floor. Continue, one more enemy, then two more in the next hallway. Two more suicidal enemies will come around the next corner. There's another in the hallway here which can be sniped. Now head upstairs and through the door the way you came in for a CHECKPOINT. Head through the radio room, then wait at the next corner. A good 4-5 enemies will come at you, which you will have to kill before getting in the elevator. There are no more, so just head upstairs, outside, and into the truck to end the mission.

Mission 11: Truck Ride to Airfield

Difficulty: 4

A relatively short, but nonetheless frustratingly hard mission riding a truck. First you should buy a new controller since you will ragebreak the one you've got before finishing this mission. Even if you're fast and accurate, whether you get hit too much or not is pure game of chance in this level as you have no control and cannot hide. I suggest you learn exactly where to aim and when to hit the trigger with the panzerfausts to make sure you can predictably hit, because you'll need a lot of retries to get through this bullshit. To add to this, the second checkpoint is bugged the fuck out, and probably won't trigger for you. Accept the first and second panzerfausts to blow up the two trucks, take out the car with your machinegun, and you'll soon cross a bridge where you will receive a sniper rifle. Concentrate on taking out the enemies trying to cross the bridge until you head off again into a tunnel (CHECKPOINT). Get another panzerfaust and nuke the lorry behind you. Accept the next and crouch, then get back up as you burst through the roadblock and take out the lorry starting to go uphill. Accept the next, but swap it for the MG and burn through the enemies on the pursuing lorry with it, it will halt after a while. Now concentrate on taking out the motorbikes until you hit another tunnel, if you're really lucky there's a CHECKPOINT here, but most of the time it's bugged. It was permanently bugged on all my three playthroughs. with a pursuing car to spray bullets into. See to your left on the outside to take out two enemies on a lorry which comes up alongside you. Now switch to your saved panzerfaust and wait until you head past three enemies firing by the roadside. A car will pursue you over the hilltop, take it out at once or you're dead. Taking this out is the single hardest and single most frustrating event in the entire game. I seriously don't know why these enemies are so much more accurate than the others. Once these are dead you should get another panzerfaust, grab it and turn around. There'll be a longish while with no enemies, then a roadblock with two lorrys. Blast one of them with the panzerfaust, then crouch, shoot at anything else that approach, and pray for the remainder of the mission.

Mission 12: Airfield Escape

Difficulty: 2

Begin by staying down and shooting at anything you see. While going through the airfield you will have to take out the enemies on two lorry but you're out of panzerfausts. Keep retrying until you get it, you'll get blown up if you don't. When you approach the stop near the runway (CHECKPOINT), mow down an enemy coming through the door ahead, then snipe off those on the roof before getting on the AA gun. Now take out two pairs of stukas trying to lift off, and another attack coming from the air. Leave the AA gun and shoot enemies on the roof until you hear another call for taking out stukas, get back on the AA gun to take out the second wave then again leave it to kill enemies on the roof. Get on the AA gun one last time to take out the third wave; be careful with this as there are 5 planes attacking almost at the same time, you need to switch between the directions the planes attack at. Once they're all down (CHECKPOINT), head into the truck and stay down for the remainder of the mission.

Mission 13: Battleship Tirpitz

Difficulty: 4

Another very difficult mission with lots of enemies and very little help. There are a few tricks to make it easier, though it is still a 4. Begin with boarding the ship and following Cpt. Price downstairs. Once he takes out the guard (CHECKPOINT), pick up the weapons and ammo down here and mow down an enemy across the hall, then progress into the first hallway lined with explosive objectives. Shoot down 3-4 guards coming at the other end and place all the explosives. There's another guard which spawns right as you approach the final spot to place an explosive; lean out and snipe him from around the corner. Head further and kill the guard coming out from the armory, then pop around the corner to kill one enemy in the next hallway. You'll trigger several enemy spawns if you progress here, so instead of taking them on face first head back the way you came to flank them, a door has now opened here. Head inside and place the first explosive, then back to the door to wait for an enemy before placing the final explosive. Now head out through the central corridor, there will be another 2-3 enemies. When you turn the corner at the end a frag grenade will be thrown down the stairs, wait for it then go in and kill the enemy at the top of the stairs. Head up the stairs for a CHECKPOINT. Approach the hangar door to kill an enemy coming around and another on the deck in front of you. Another might come up around the corner as well, you'll hear him well in advance because of the footsteps. Now focus on the area behind the fence ahead and above you. There are two snipers here, they are a complete assholes to take out because your target is useless when firing upwards, and they target you fast, always hit, and ruin your mission in 1 hit since they take about 65% of your health. There's also an enemy on the left side which will come running shortly, so you need to keep an eye out there also. Once they are dead, dart across to the left side where you killed that enemy, there's usually another here behind the first crate. Head inside, to the end straight ahead, and up two sets of stairs. Wait for an enemy at the door, then head across and up another set of stairs. Again wait for an enemy. Enter the room looking to the left and wait for another enemy, then take out the radio equipment in this room. Enter the next (the door the last enemy came out of, and quickly fire at the equipment in here, then head up the stairs while spraying bullets to the left in the doorway. Immediately turn 180 degrees to take out another enemy on the stairs. Now crouch and inch your way up the stairs until you get the captain in sight, take him out. Once on the bridge, there's an enemy on the pathway outside straight ahead. Use the clutter in this room for cover and get to the door, take him out from here. Now do not pick up the documents yet, instead approach the front of each of the areas on either side outside the bridge and snipe an enemy on a walkway below. On the left side (facing the way you came up the stairs), also snipe enemies left behind you. Now pick up the documents for a CHECKPOINT and head back down the stairs all the way to the bottom the way you came. Enter the corridor going off near the door when you first entered and take out guards around every corner. When you see the door leading outside, stay inside to await several guards who will run into your line of sight after a bit of coaxing. Make sure it's quiet before heading outside. Now you need to take out one enemy on the floor on either side, they can be sniped from your elevated position. There are further enemies coming from the pathway in front of the elevated position you're on, to the left of the path you need to take to get back to your boat. Take them out as well and leg it down the ledger and back into your boat to end the mission.

Mission 14: Volga River, Stalingrad

Difficulty: 1

Now that you've finished the aggravating bollocks british missions, congratulations, the platinum is as good as yours. Next up are the russian missions. This first one is very easy. Once you get to the docks and get the ammo, just keep heading up the hill from cover to cover until you get to your objective; a sniper. When he tells you to run across, do so, and immediately cover behind the truck on the far side. If you do it right (start just as he says go), you should not get hit. Repeat this, then again head for the ruined house slightly down the hill when commanded. Just wait out the bombardment here, and head up the hill to end the mission.

Mission 15: Red Square, Stalingrad

Difficulty: 2

Another relatively benign mission. Head across the square to the statue on the signal, be sure to pick up 2-3 guns on the way so you have some firepower (CHECKPOINT). Now head right around their fire until a wall blows up and nazis appear inside the building. Snipe them with your teammate, then approach the building. Be sure to pick up the MP40 from a dead nazi (CHECKPOINT). Let your teammate take point in the house and he'll take out all or most of the enemies in this first section. You'll hit a stairs; you need to traverse this quickly because of enemies firing at you through the windows from the building across the yard. There's one enemy on the third floor, and one coming down the stairs immediately after. Get upstairs and proceed through this area taking out more enemies until you get to a room with a sniper rifle. Pick it up and snipe the officers, they're the guys waving their hands, there's two in the trench and two up near the big building. After you've done this, head back down the stairs and outside and wait for the bombardment to end. Head through the trench and snipe enemies in the top window, the clock tower, and otherwise, and then through the crack in the wall to the left of the first corner, as well as on the second floor on the building there. Approach the hole and some more of your team will come, let them run ahead. Advance forward and through, watch out for a MG42 gunner around another hole in the wall. Take him out and take out more enemies around the next corner. Keep advancing and taking out enemies until you arrive in the big clearing. Now focus on enemies from right to left, including a MG42 gunner on the far left ahead. Advance through and around to the other side. Break out your sniper rifle for this final area. Clear it out and approach the door to end the mission.

Mission 16: Trainstation

Difficulty: 3

Let your team take most of the flak here for as long as they survive and just help them out. Get under the rail to the left of the entrance to coax out the enemies, then snipe them off. Continue through the hallways taking out enemies in every room and around every corner until you approach a window with a MG42 stand (CHECKPOINT). Forget the MG42 and get the sniper rifle. Lean out to the right to take out a guard on the right walkway, then repeat this motion with two more on the left walkway before tackling the central MG42, then the central guard. Head out of the door, then watch the left wall here. Several enemies will line up along it, progressively take them out while panning to the left revealing more and more of the wall. Head across and jump down, again, let your team go ahead if any are left (if you've been fast there should be at least 2 left). There are several enemies in this railyard, concentrated about the side you came from. Snipe them between and under the carriages, then approach the far hole in the wall and staircase (CHECKPOINT). Go upstairs and outside, now carefully check to the left again for more wall-snipers. Take them out then head across. Two enemies will come around the end wall corner ahead. Kill, then go around and jump down, head into the building across for another CHECKPOINT. Outside here is a big area with lots of enemies. Keep in the doorway and snipe anything that moves. The enemies will tend to shoot at your teammates outside which makes this an ideal spot. Take everything out then head forward on the left side, watching for stragglers. There are always 1-2 spawns behind the wall on the left as well. Progress hugging the left wall and 2 more spawns will come out along the path. Watch out as there is a MG42 nest around the left wall. Take it out and move through another area with destroyed buildings and enemies to take out (CHECKPOINT). There's a lot of enemies and another MG42 nest in this big area, take your time with the sniper and they should pose no problem. Move through it following the path around and you will eventually find some friendlies and the end of the mission.

Mission 17: Stalingrad Sewers

Difficulty: 3

Another mission with your trusty sniper rifle as your best buddy. Switch to it immediately and head down the stairs into the sewer. Around the first corner are three snipeable enemies. Approach the boxes on the right and lean out to snipe another. Progress forward and enemies will spawn ahead of you both on ground level and in the crack above you. Approach the two crates and immediately head back to where you were when they spawn. Take out the lone bottom one first, then sneak forward and snipe the two up above. Progress through and be ready to take out another enemy across the canal. Enter the stairway to the right (CHECKPOINT). At the end, lean out and snipe three enemies toward the end of this hallway. Progress through (don't worry about the hole in the wall), and wait at the corner for an enemy. Lean out and snipe another at the end then approach the far corner. Lean out to the right to take out an enemy about halfway down this hallway on the right. There are two more to take out from this position, then progress on the right side towards the crates. Two white-clad nazis will drop down. One will come at you for an easy kill (switch to the machinegun), the other needs some coaxing to pop his head out. I suggest croaching out of cover and taking him out with the machinegun. Now switch to the sniper and survey the balconies. There are two or three snipers up there, as well as one in the window up to the left of the crack and one on the second floor to the left. The latter can be avoided by going prone through the ditch. I suggest doing that to minimize the risk of being shot by him. Continue through until you reach a stair going down (CHECKPOINT). The machinegun is the best for this part. There are two enemies in the room downstairs, and two more in the room after that. Then there's another CHECKPOINT. Snipe two enemies to the left as you enter the flooded tunnel, and advance along taking out more enemies. You will hit a zone where there are a few friendlies battling several enemies. Use them as help to take out the room, then continue up and to the right for another enemy behind a crate. Further on there's two more enemy riflemen behind crates at the far end of the next tunnel. Clear this area and press on for a CHECKPOINT. As you come around the corner after this, observe and shoot through the hole in the wall to take out 1-2 enemies before clearing the tunnel beyond it. Be on the alert for a guard near the middle hole in the wall, and enter the small tunnel through the far hole. There's another enemy to snipe in this hallway before entering the next, which has a couple more. Progress through it until you have to jump down through the broken floor (CHECKPOINT). Approach the end of this tunnel carefully. You now have to snipe all enemies up in the building above. There are two on each side at two different levels (look in the windows), and one in the middle downstairs which you should take out first. When they are down, enter the building and drop down to end the mission.

Mission 18: Pavlov's House

Difficulty: 4

The only truly difficult russian mission in my opinion. We'll be using a trick to skip the hardest part, otherwise this would be the single hardest mission in the game and cause weeks of grief to pass. To start out with, crouch and receive orders to take out snipers in the big building across the field. Take out all the snipers by watching for the fire, then L1-target the general location and you should get a lock-on. Afterwards mortar fire starts raining in, so quickly cross the field and get below the wall at the far end. Wait for the bombardment to end (CHECKPOINT). A good point here is by the hole in the wall - the one's that's actually a hole and not just wall that's missing. Lean out right and start taking out enemies around the MG42 position here. There are a couple of spawns pr. spot before it gets quieter. Then move left towards the other MG42 position and repeat. Finish by taking out all enemies near the left side of the house. At some point you should get an objective to enter the house. Finish any stragglers outside then head inside and into the cellar. Head clockwise around here taking out one enemy to your immediate right, one ahead near the hole, and one more at the back wall coming around to clear this floor. Your team should clear the first floor, head back upstairs and onto the second floor via the planks here. Pop into the next hallway and kill the enemy if he's there, then go back and approach the door in the room you came from. Lean out here to take out two more enemies to the right in the hallway ahead. There's one more inside a door to the left. Gain an angle on him, for example by covering near the stairs, and take him out. Now, concentrate on the area above you as you inch forward - you can snipe enemies through the floorboards here before heading left to see another set of planks leading up to the next floor. Kill enemies as you sneak up and dart for the far room to have your team move up. Now there should be 2 enemies left on this level, one is easily sniped in the central hallway, the other is in a room across. Once they're down approach the final plankstair from behind. One enemy will come down it as you approach, another as you're about halfway to the top, and a third is waiting to snipe you from the far end of the area upstairs. Once they're dead (CHECKPOINT), get your team upstairs. When they get into position there should be one enemy left, he's in a room at the far right end of this level. Grenade him out of there, then meet up wth Sgt. Pavlov on the fourth floor to trigger the next part of the mission. Get to the second floor and take out the tank with the anti-tank rifle. That sounded easy. It's actually flutteringly hard. You're likely to grow really tired, so just quit the game and come back to fight another day. Both the tanks have to be taken out before the next CHECKPOINT. The targetting control on a console is a fucking joke, it's oversensitive, and you have to do it perfectly for the tank not to blast you away. I had at least 30 retries on this complete bullshit before I lucked out and got through it. If you reach it though, you're basically done. You should be on the 3rd floor anti-tank rifle, just head to the left at the end of the hallway here into a room with a big hole in the floor and go prone in the corner. Try and have picked up a MP40 with an okay supply in ammo, just in case. Wait it out here until the end of the mission, shooting any nazis that try and come through - usually that's not many. Congratulations if you stick it through to end this poorly laid out mission.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi, I got a wee tip for mission 3.

When you blow up the 1st tank with the panzerfaust, go back to the church and grab another so when you get to the second tank you can just blow it up without having to go back to the church and back again to blow it up. Worked very well for me.

As for the mission Truckride to the Airfield, and the jeep thats very accurate. I dont think its the guys in the jeep, because right before that jeep comes up, theres three soldiers on foot you can take out before (aim forward) the jeep arrives. I think its actually the footsoldiers. Cause when I took them out, the jeep never hit me.

Lots of info there. But, I wonder, why are you rating the difficulties that low? Like in battleship turpitz, you said it's very difficult, lots of enemies and no help and you said it was a 4/10 difficulty? You must a master at COD games or something, cause I'm not a master at COD, though I like FPS games a lot:) I personally would give each mission like 4 (no lower for any mission) out of 10, but that's just me:o Other than that nice job;)

I followed this video for the count-down part of Pavlov's House:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdyYZes_xJo]YouTube - Call of Duty Classic - Pavlov's House the easy way.[/ame]

It seems similar to the description in this thread except as far as I can make out if you follow the description from this thread you would be inside the room to the right of where you lie down in the video?

Anyway, I followed this video and no Germans showed up at all.
