Overview:

Trophy Difficulty: 3.5/10 (http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/cabelas-north-american-adventures/68452-platinum-difficulty-rating.html)

Offline Trophies: 8 (B), 7 (S), 6 (G)

Online Trophies: 1 (B), 2 (S), 1 (G), 1 (P)

Approximate Time to Platinum: 6-8 Hours

Minimum Number of Playthroughs Needed: 1 Career Mode, 1 Big Trophy Tournament, Additional Shooting Galleries and 1+ Online Match(es).

Missable Trophies: None.

Glitched Trophies: None.

Do Cheats Disable Trophies?: No Known Cheats.

Does Difficulty Affect Trophies?: Yes, see Accomplished Hunter.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?: The series of Cabela’s games focuses on hunting down wild animals and scoring the highest points possible for getting great kills. This one is no different, there is the usual career mode, an additional Big Trophy Tournament Mode, a few Shooting Galleries to play through and also an online portion that is easily self-boosted.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Select Difficulty and play through Career Mode:

Before you do anything, from the Main Menu select My Career > Manage Progress > Change Difficulty > Pro Hunter. This is because there is one difficulty related trophy for the Career, and although this is technically the hardest difficulty, it’s not difficult at all. Completing the game on Pro Hunter also unlocks the trophy for the lower difficulty level, Sportsman.

Now simply play through the game, aim for A+ Ratings, and bear in mind a few things:

• You will need A+ Ratings on each level to unlock all the custom parts, to get Gun Collector.

• When given the opportunity to ‘film’ a hunt, try to frame the hunts as well as possible getting a 2x multiplier shot and more than 100 points on 2 of the levels for Film Expert.

• Try to get 3 ‘Awesome’ duck calls during a duck hunt (more info on this found below) for the Master Caller trophy.

• Get one kill with the bow for Bow Kill.

• Keep a small lookout for animal tracks, especially towards the end of the game on snowy levels, for Scout and Pro Tracker.

After this step, you should have most, if not all of the following:

(G) Accomplished Hunter

(G) The Good Hunter

(G) Gun Collector

(S) Film Expert

(S) Pro Tracker

(S) Master Caller

(B) First Deer

(B) Scout

(B) Under Cover

(B) Long Shot

(B) Bow Kill

(B) One Shot, One Kill

Step 2 - Customise your weapons:

Now, providing you got Gun Collector for unlocking every custom part, go to the Main Menu and select Career > :triangle: Gun Locker and change every single part on every single gun so that no part remains standard.

Doing this will earn you:

(G) Gun Expert

(S) Gunsmith

Step 3 - Big Trophy Tournament:

After this, from the Main Menu select Big Trophy Tournament and play through each of the 6 levels. Use your rifle, as now that you have customised all the guns you will get a few of the custom guns trophies as well as all the other trophies for this mode. The only bad luck you might have is to not encounter an Albino Trophy. More tips for that below.

Providing all went smoothly, the following should have popped:

(G) Rifleman

(S) Trophy Hunter

(B) Custom Firearm

(B) Rare Trophy

Step 4 - Shooting Galleries:

From the Main Menu select Shooting Galleries > Hunters Challenge > Player One and play and achieve Gold Medals on all 4 of the Challenge Maps. These are probably the hardest part of the platinum; however with that said, a little bit of practice and patience will get these done in no time.

Next, from the Main Menu select Shooting Galleries > Prairie Dog Shoot and play and achieve Gold Medals on all 4 of these maps. Use only your shotgun for this, if you followed the walkthrough so far and customised it, now is the time you will easily earn 50 kills with your custom shotgun.

Doing this step gets you:

(G) Shotgun Expert

(S) Shooting Galleries Expert

(S) Exterminator

Step 5 - Online Trophies:

Only four trophies and the platinum remain. These are the online trophies. Fortunately there is a way to self-boost against bots easily. Set it up from the Main Menu > Playstation Network > Host Match and the following settings:

Map: Any (I preferred Pennsylvania Early Fall due to open spaces)

Players: 4

Bots: Enabled

Vitals: Enabled

Perks: Enabled

Private Slots: 3

Now you will be in a 4 player game with 3 bots for easy trophies. See the trophy descriptions for detail, but after this step is done, you will have earned:

(G) Perk Expert

(S) Objective Oriented

(S) Marksman

(B) Player Hater

and most importantly:

(P) Master of the Hunt

Congratulations!

Trophy Guide:

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/D6B.jpg Master of the Hunt (P)

Unlocked all Trophies

Nothing new here, obtain every other trophy, and this one will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/A79.jpg Accomplished Hunter (G)

Finish the Career on Pro Hunter difficulty setting

If you follow my roadmap above, this will unlock after you complete the career. The first thing you should do upon loading the game for the first time, is go to the Main Menu and select My Career > Manage Progress > Change Difficulty > Pro Hunter to ensure you are on this difficulty level from the beginning. It is really not hard at all and as long as you complete every objective you can still easily get A+ on each level first time.

This trophy stacks with The Good Hunter so unlocking this will unlock the trophy for the easier difficulty too.

Finish the Career on Sportsman difficulty setting

See Accomplished Hunter.

All your rifles and shotguns in the Gun Locker are made up from unlocked parts

After you have unlocked all custom parts for all the guns (see Gun Collector), simply go to the Main Menu and select Career > :triangle: Gun Locker and change every single part on every single gun so that no part remains standard.

There are 5 guns in the gun locker, 3 rifles and 2 shotguns. Change every part on every gun and the trophy will pop shortly after.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/D6A.jpg Gun Collector (G)

Unlocked all custom gun parts in the game

You unlock custom parts by getting good grades on the career missions; getting A+ on every mission will guarantee this trophy. I got A+ on every mission easily by doing every objective that was asked of me, I don’t even think you need to do particularly well points wise.

On the missions that are like episodes do all the objectives, and just do as well as you can. On the 10 minute hunt missions kill the big game they ask for, this big game will drop a pick-up objective that looks like a bunch of yellow cubes, pick up the objective and do what it asks and you will have no problem. Do the objectives one at a time though because picking one up will void the first. Also kill a lot of small game and try to take advantage of the random ‘infestation’ or ‘migration’ events.

I have heard reports that getting all A+ other than 2 missions which have grade A will still get this trophy, I didn’t get chance to test as I got A+ on every mission first time.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/29E.jpg Rifleman (G)

Downed 10 Big Game Trophies with a Custom Rifle

You will get this sometime during the Big Trophy Tournaments if you follow my roadmap. Basically after you have customised a rifle, go hunting with it and once you have killed 10 Big Game animals, it will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/16B.jpg Shotgun Expert (G)

Downed 50 animals using a Custom Shotgun

If you follow my roadmap you will get this after a few stages of Prairie Dog Shoots. After you have customised a shotgun, go crazy killing all the Prairie Dogs you see. If you do it during any other mode, again go wild on all the small game and birds, very easy and simple.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/10B.jpg Shooting Galleries Expert (S)

Obtained Gold medals for all Courses in the Shooting Galleries

On the Main Menu you will see an option called Shooting Galleries, and in here there are 2 modes, Hunters Challenge and Prairie Dog Shoot. Get Gold medals on every map in each of these modes for this trophy. There are 4 maps in Hunters Challenge, and 4 maps in Prairie Dog Shoot.

The Hunters Challenge missions are the hardest part of this platinum but if you play each mission one at a time over and over, you will learn the pattern of where the animals come from and have it done in no time. Make sure to take maximum advantage of the archery targets in the first 2 missions, and in all 4 missions just focus massively on the big game targets. Useful pickups can be collected by shooting them and pressing :l1: to use them. Fast reload is a good pickup, as is double clip.

Just persist and try not to move to the next mission without getting Gold on your current one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/EA7.jpg Trophy Hunter (S)

Downed all level 5 Big Trophies in Big Trophy Tournament

Under Main Menu > Big Trophy Tournament you will find hunts for 6 different animals. They are: Whitetail Deer, Axis Deer, Mule Deer, Elk, Moose and Caribou. In each hunt stage you must find the trophy animal which is denoted with a trophy image on the right when you aim at him. If you are having trouble finding the right animal, initiate a call with :l1: which will show the locations of all animals on your mini-map. Sometimes you can find the trophy animal within 10 seconds, other times it will take a few minutes. Either way, take him down and you will move on to the next stage, and so on until you get to the stage 5 animal. Take down the stage 5 animal and the main screen will show the animal hunt being back down to stage 1. Do this for all 6 animals and the trophy is yours.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/4E2.jpg Film Expert (S)

Filmed at least 2 hunts worth more than 100 points

This trophy can be a little awkward. There are 5 missions in which you walk around with another guy filming an episode of your hunting show. In these missions, you are given the opportunity to film your last epic kill. You need a 2x multiplier, which is achieved by framing shots nicely, framing shots with 2 stars is the easiest way. The film also has to achieve more than 100 points. It might take a little fiddling but it shouldn’t take long, do it twice and the trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/9BF.jpg Gunsmith (S)

Explored gun customization options within the Gun Locker

This will unlock automatically at the same time you go for Gun Expert. If you want it sooner, wait until you unlock a custom part, then find it in your Gun Locker and customise a gun. The trophy will pop straight after.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/E6B.jpg Pro Tracker (S)

Found 10 animal tracks

All around levels there will be little signs an animal is nearby, these are animal tracks, usually footprints. When near one you will see a prompt to press :cross: and examine them, this will count as 1 track unlocked. Do it 10 times for the trophy.

Keep your eyes peeled, but don’t worry too much as there are 100+ tracks in the game, and the later snow levels basically put them right in front of you after certain cutscenes. You will get 10 tracks no problem.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/3T6.jpg Exterminator (S)

Obtain Gold medals in all Prairie Dog Courses

From the Main Menu > Shooting Galleries > Prairie Dog Shoot there are 4 maps to complete, each with 3 stages to complete within a (very generous) time limit. Use only the shotgun on these levels and you will more than likely get Gold Medals first time on each map.

The premise is simple, you have a certain amount of each vegetable item to collect by killing the Prairie Dogs that represent each one. To get the special one to appear, you need to kill 3 in a row without missing. The shotgun is the best but be careful on the last stage of the last level, only the targets on the first 3 mounds are within range.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/56D.jpg Master Caller (S)

Made at least 3 Awesome Duck calls

When in a situation where you are hunting ducks in the career, you will get the chance to do duck calls. Initiate the call with :l1: then intermittently press :cross: 5 times, filling the bar from right to left, with a tiny gap in between each one. This will almost guarantee an ‘awesome’ duck call. You will know when you have done it right when the ‘awesome’ bonus appears on screen. 3 of these will unlock this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/3DD.jpg First Deer (B)

Downed your first buck in Career Mode

This will definitely come when you complete the career, you will have to hunt many bucks and so it will more than likely be amongst your first trophies in the game. Nothing to worry about here.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/DF3.jpg Scout (B)

Found your first animal track

This trophy will unlock on the path to unlocking Pro Tracker; see that trophy for more information.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/8B5.jpg Under Cover (B)

Downed at least 3 Big Game Trophies from a blind or stand in Career Mode

Every now and then whilst moving through the episode-type career missions you will see a blue target logo on the mini-map. Go over to it, press :cross: to enter the blind/stand and kill whatever the game tells you to. The trophy will unlock after you down 3 trophies this way.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/280.jpg Long Shot (B)

Downed a Big Game Trophy from more than 80 yards

Another trophy you are pretty much certain to get by the end of career mode. Most trophies are 80 yards or further away, you will get this without trying.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/398.jpg Custom Firearm (B)

Downed your first animal with a custom modified firearm

Should unlock after you complete Step 2 of my walkthrough (customise every gun), in the very early stages of Step 3 (Big Trophy Tournament). Use any customised gun and kill an animal in any mode, and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/984.jpg Bow Kill (B)

Downed your first animal with a bow

Remember to use the bow once when killing any land animal in any mode and this simple trophy will pop.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/24F.jpg Rare Trophy (B)

Downed at least one Albino Trophy in Big Trophy Tournament

This is pretty random and will most likely pop when going for Trophy Hunter. The level 5 trophy on any hunt will have a chance of being an Albino, easily noticeable by its milky white complexion. However if you are unlucky and you don’t get it naturally, play up to stage 5 of a hunt and when you find the trophy, if he isn’t Albino, restart the mission. If he is Albino proceed to finish him for the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/7D5.jpgOne Shot, One Kill (B)

Downed 5 Big Game Trophies with a single shot

This is another one of those trophies which will almost certainly pop when you play through the career. Unless you happen to clip the animal with your bullet in the leg or similar, it’s virtually always a one shot kill. 5 of these will happen before you even expect it.

Online Trophies:

The self-boosting settings again in case you missed them:

Map: Any (I preferred Pennsylvania Early Fall due to open spaces)

Players: 4

Bots: Enabled

Vitals: Enabled

Perks: Enabled

Private Slots: 3

Now you will be in a 4 player game with 3 bots and ready to unleash hell.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/E5B.jpg Perk Expert (G)

Used at least 8 different Perks against opponents in an Online Match

When you kill small game animals, they will drop pick-ups known as perks. The green ones are good for you but in the context of trophies, utterly useless. Pick up the red ones, they can be used against other players. You can carry 4 perks at once. To use one, hold :l1: and press either :triangle:, :circle:, :cross: or :square: to pick the perk and then :circle:, :cross: or :square: to pick the unfortunate bot. Keep using every perk you get and you will get this no problem. This is not cumulative and must be obtained in a single match.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/449.jpg Objective Oriented (S)

Completed 3 collected objectives in Online Matches

When you kill a big game trophy they will drop a yellow cube looking pick-up. Collect it for an extra objective, for example, get 3 long-range bonuses, kill 3 cottontail rabbits, etc. Complete the objective and do that 3 times (in as many matches as you need, they are cumulative) for this trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/70E.jpg Marksman (S)

Finished an Online Match with at least 70% Accuracy

Just take a few shots and try not to miss, then press :select: to check your accuracy rating. If it’s above 70% then sweet, run around for a while until the end of the match when it will pop. If not, take a few more shots without missing to raise it up. It’s easy to do, especially if you concentrate on shooting small game from point blank range with the shotgun.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/681/A80.jpg Player Hater (B)

Used 4 Perks on the same opponent in an Online Match

Remember the red perks from the Perk Expert trophy? Use 4 of them on the same player. You will have to wait for your last perk to wear off before using another, but it’s usually a case of a few seconds. Once you have used the 4th Perk on the same player, the trophy will be yours.
