Overview

Warning! The servers for uploading a photo to facebook have been shut down; and consequently, the platinum is no longer attainable, unless you've already unlocked the "Hungry for Fame" trophy.

  • Estimate difficulty: 3/10.

The current average has limited votes and comes to 2.5. I think it’s closer to a 4 and that’s why I rounded up.

  • Estimated time to platinum: 10-15 hours.
  • Minimum number of play-throughs needed: 2 in story mode and a few of galleries.
  • Trophy breakdown: 31 (10 (B), 16 (S), 4 (G), 1 (P)).
    • Offline: 29 (10 (B), 15 (S), 4 (G), 0 (P)).
    • Online: 2 (0 (B), 1 (S), 0 (G), 1 (P)).

    [*]Missable trophies: None.

    [*]Glitched trophies: None.

[*]Does difficulty affect trophies? Not applicable.

[*]Do cheats disable trophies? Not applicable.

[*]Special hardware required for platinum? No.

That said, this game is compatible with the PS Move and the Top Shot Elite.

Road Map

Introduction: Cabela's is back with its latest installment of the Big Game Hunter series. Sadly, this is a bit sparse with a story mode that will last four to five hours and pretty limited galleries to play. That said, this game is ideal for trophy hunter's, as the platinum is quick and easy. Enjoy your hunt!

Special note: Please be aware that this trophy guide is written assuming the player is playing with a dual shock controller. The game is compatible with the PS Move and the Top Shot Elite. The control schemes for those are different, but it should be easy to convert between all of them.

Step 1: Complete Story mode. During this step, you will unlock the bulk of the trophies for the game. You should be aiming to unlock the following trophies:

(G)
Pimp My Gun

(S)
Pump It Up

(G)
Hunting for Money

(B)
Spoorer

(S)
Hungry for Fame
(No longer attainable. See the warning at the start of the road map.)

(B)
Detective

(B)
Bushman

(S)
Shadow

(B)
Anatomy Saved My Life

(S)
Heartbreaker

(S)
Secret Seeker

(S)
Close and Personal

(S)
Devarminator

(B)
Paparazzi

(G)
Become a Legend

(S)
Skill Or Luck?

(B)
Archer

(S)
Lucky Luke

(S)
Adrenaline Seeker

(B)
Good Reflexes!

You should look over all of these trophies’ descriptions to give you an idea of what to go for, although most will come with little to no effort. You will especially want to read about the “Pump It Up” and “Devarminator” trophies to minimize later grinding.

Step 2: Play through story mode again using only the trophy gun and bow. Here you are working to unlock the following:

(S)

Bow Master

(S)
Gun Slinger

(G)
Gun Master

You may very well unlock the first two trophies during step one, but if not get them here. Check out the "Gun Master" trophy for more info. You'll want to complete this trophy via level select, since you won't have the trophy gun or bow if you start a fresh game.

Step 3: Finish the shooting gallery trophies. There are only a handful of gallery trophies and they are pretty much independent of each other, so just take a look at their specific info and you should be good to go. Here you will unlock:

(B)

Hunting The Hunters

(S)
King of Reflexes

(S)
Deadeye

(B)
Demolition Expert

(B)
True Hero

(S)
Let Them Fall

(S)
Clean!

Unlock all other trophies.

Congrats on your latest platinum!

Story Mode Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/02.jpg Pimp My Gun (G)

Unlock and fully upgrade all the firearms.

You will need about $75,000 to purchase all the upgrades. To maximize your cash intake you should do the following:

  • Investigate the animal signs.
  • Shoot from a blind, preferably a high point one (duh).
  • Perform the side objective for the trophy hunt, when applicable.
  • Find the hidden areas and take the pictures that are there.
  • Do the small game and bird side missions.

Note that if you don't complete these, your progress will be saved each time you play the mission and you can complete them on subsequent play-throughs. For example, if you're required to shoot 50 birds and you only get 40 on your first run, you can load the mission up again and then shoot the remaining 10 to complete the side mission for extra points. However, after you complete the side mission you won't be awarded any more points.

There are more than enough opportunities to get to the required amount of cash, but you will still want to do well during your hunts (i.e. try to go for the gold medals). You can replay levels to get more cash, but you’ll need to perform better than your best attempt to do so. One final remark: you have to buy all the upgrades for all the weapons not just the highest level upgrades.

Hunt 300 birds with the Shotgun in Story

I recommend going for this trophy on your first (non-"Gun Master") play-through. Basically, you want to try to blast each and every bird you see with your shot gun. The birds come out very frequently, so I’d recommend having your shotgun at the ready. While you’re at it, you should also work towards the “Devarminator” trophy, which requires that kill 200 small game animals. This latter trophy doesn’t require the use of a shotgun but it’s definitely easier to do with it.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/04.jpg Hunting for Money (G)

Earn more than $50,000 in Story

You will easily get to this cash mark by the end of your first play-through. However, you will need more than this for the “Pimp My Gun” trophy. See that trophy for more details.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/05.jpg Spoorer (B)

Find 20 tracks in Story.

You will have to go out of your way to not get this trophy. At the start of each hunt, you will actually be directed to the associated animal signs. Once you get to them, you just press :cross: to register the signs.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/06.jpg Hungry for Fame (S)

Upload 20 pictures.

(Online) This trophy is no longer attainable. See the warning at the start of the road map. This is the one true online trophy in the game. Not only do you have to be online, but you will actually need to link a facebook account to the game in order to unlock this trophy. You can create a phony facebook account just for this trophy if you like. Once you link the account, you have to finish any trophy hunt and choose the option to upload your photo. You can just keep uploading the same photo over and over again and the trophy will eventually unlock. In fact, I’m pretty sure that the game registers every attempt as an uploaded photo, even if the upload “fails”. So, just keep spamming the uploads.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/07.jpg Detective (B)

Spend 15 minutes total in detection mode.

Detective mode is activated by pressing :circle: and allows you to see animals, signs, noisy environments, blinds and cover. You will be using this regularly and, as such, this trophy will almost surely come naturally during the normal course of the game. If you somehow haven’t unlocked this by the time you finish all the other story mode trophies, just load up any mission, activate detective mode and leave it on until the trophy unlocks.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/08.jpg Gun Slinger (S)

Shoot 10 trophy animals while using the Trophy Gun.

See the “Gun Master” trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/09.jpg Bushman (B)

Spend one continuous minute fully covered by vegetation.

While in detective mode, vegetation will appear as semi-white/blue. When you enter vegetation, you will see your character fade a little bit and some black bars appear at the top and bottom of your screen. Just hang out in the closest bush for a minute nonstop and you’ll have your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/10.jpg Shadow (S)

Finish any location in Story without alerting any trophy animal.

This is near impossible to not get naturally and you will most likely get it during your first mission. (This was the very first trophy I got in this game.) Just be careful to not alert animals as you make your way towards your trophy animal.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/11.jpg Anatomy Saved My Life (B)

Win 10 skillshots in Story.

In various missions, you will be attacked by predators (e.g. cougars, lions, alligators and bears, oh my!). At these junctures, you will need to shoot down the predator, usually by a shot to the heart. At any rate, I’m pretty sure this trophy qualifies as unmissable because you will have over ten of these encounters and I’m pretty sure you can't advance the story until you get past them.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/12.jpg Heartbreaker (S)

Hunt 10 big game trophies by shooting them through the heart.

To get a heartshot easily, you will want to press :l1: to enter hunter vision. In this mode, the animal’s vital organs will be highlighted and time will be slowed down. Aim for the heart and take your shot. Repeat 10 times and you’ll get your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/13.jpg Secret Seeker (S)

Find 7 hidden locations in Story.

Whenever you notice a path that isn’t directly on route to your next target, there’s a very good chance that it will lead to a hidden location. There are plenty of these available and you can look at the mission stats before each mission to see if you’ve found its hidden locations.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/14.jpg Gun Master (G)

Finish every Story map using only the Trophy Gun and the Compound Bow.

Unfortunately, you’ll pretty much have to replay the majority of story mode to unlock this trophy, since the bow can’t be used for many hunts and the trophy gun isn’t unlocked until very late in the game. That said, getting this trophy isn’t that hard, just be sure only use the trophy gun and bow. You can use the camera and call as you please. If you haven’t gotten the “Gun Slinger” and “Bow Master” trophies yet, you will want to work on the those. Also, it's worth mentioning that this trophy has to be done via chapter select, since the trophy gun and bow won't be unlocked if you start a new game.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/15.jpg Close and Personal (S)

Shoot any big game from less than 15 yards.

You can get this on the second hunt of the very first mission. But there are plenty of other opportunities to get this trophy, as well. If you’re worried about getting detected, be sure to use cover and or blinds, as needed.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/16.jpg Devarminator (S)

Hunt 200 small game land animals in Story.

See the “Pump It Up” trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/17.jpg Paparazzi (B)

Take 30 pictures in Story.

You can get this during any mission for which the camera is available. To pull up the camera, scroll through your equipment with :left:. Once equipped, aim it with :l2: then take pictures with :r2:. Keep pressing :r2: until 30 pictures have been taken and you’ll unlock your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/18.jpg Become a Legend (G)

Finish Story Mode.

Just complete the story and this trophy will be yours.

Story Mode Trophies (Continued)

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/19.jpg Skill Or Luck? (S)

Hunt any trophy with one shot over 280 yards.

This trophy can be unlocked on the first day of the African missions during the zebra hunt. It's a bit annoying, but you shouldn't have issues persevering. You will have to take the shot from where your previous hunt took place. Here is a video showing the location:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e3AUmlWj24]Skill Or Luck?[/ame]

The trophy description can be a bit misleading. As long as you kill the trophy with a single bullet, you can fire your gun as many times as you like. In other words, you can’t land more than one shot on your kill. In order to help ensure that you target goes down with a single shot, I recommend using a fully upgraded gun. The video says the semi-auto, but I think the long range rifle or trophy gun is a better choice. In the end, as long as you're using a fully upgraded gun (that's not the shotgun), you should be able to make the shot.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/20.jpg Bow Master (S)

Hunt 15 big game trophies while using the Compound Bow.

See the “Gun Master” trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/21.jpg Archer (B)

Hunt a bird using the Compound Bow.

The easiest way I found to get this trophy is to pick any location where several flocks of birds go flying away. Position yourself behind them and repeatedly fire your bow into the mob of birds. With a little bit of luck, you’ll land a shot and unlock the trophy.

You can keep trying the above method until you unlock the trophy or you try the following alternate strategy: Load up the third day (or maybe the second, I can’t really remember) of the African hunt. The first hunt will lead you past a photo opportunity that involves vultures and a lion. The vultures will eventually fly in a regular pattern and you can shoot them down pretty easily.

There is yet another option: I haven’t tested, but should work: There is a photo opportunity during one of the Alaskan missions where you will photograph a bald eagle. The eagle never flies away so should be an easy target. However, for those of you that are US citizens, please note that this is highly illegal!

Aeliana has found another location to get this trophy:

Another location for Archer (B) that I noticed: On the first hunt of Texas - Day 2, as you are approaching the wild boars at the beginning of the level, there are a few birds resting on tree branches; if you enter detection mode, they will appear red on the screen. Just stand back far enough as not to startle them and knock one off with the bow.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/22.jpg Lucky Luke (S)

Hunt an animal from at least 40 yards without using your scope or sights.

Like the “Close and Personal” trophy, there are many locations to get this trophy. Find a good, open target make sure you’re a reasonable distance away and gun it down. You will want to wait until the weapon you use is fully upgraded to make sure the target goes down.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/23.jpg Adrenaline Seeker (S)

Hunt a trophy animal while it's alerted and running away.

As with many of the other trophies, there are plenty of places to get this trophy. However, if you want to get it early, just enter the sights of your target until it gets startled. Once it’s running, take aim, enter hunter sense with :l1: and fire away.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/24.jpg Good Reflexes! (B)

Hunt 10 Target of Opportunity animals.

These are inserted sporadically throughout the missions. If you don’t happen to get this on your two play-throughs, then just load up the first mission and keep replaying it, killing the opportunity animal each time. Repeat until the trophy unlocks.

Gallery Mode Trophies

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/25.jpg Hunting The Hunters (B)

Shoot 10 predators during a single player Arcade Shooting Gallery.

Load up the African arcade shooting gallery. When you get to the second segment of the mission, there will be a lot of (fast) running cheetahs running across the screen. Shoot as many as you can without reaching the point threshold needed to proceed. The checkpoint will restart and you can shoot at the cheetahs again. When you’ve amassed 10 predator kills, your trophy will unlock and you can quit the stage.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/26.jpg King of Reflexes (S)

Win any 1 Player Reflex Shooting Gallery hunting all animals in the correct order.

I got this on the first reflex gallery, but you can pick another one if you prefer. You have to kill the specified animals in the specified order. If you ever accidentally shoot an animal out of order, just stop killing the animals and wait for the checkpoint to reload and try again. Eventually, you’ll get through the level and unlock the trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/27.jpg Deadeye (S)

Win any single player Shooting Gallery while not missing a shot and scoring 20000 or more.

It turns out that I was making this trophy out to be much, much harder than needed. Once again, shoe478 has a video outlining an awesome strategy:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ3fin40HRQ]Deadeye[/ame]

For those of you that prefer to read, what you want to do is load up the Namibia reflex gallery. (It's the first one.) Do the first objective and then the second without missing a shot. You will have a 100% shot rating and should have over 20,000 points. When you get to the third objective, just let the timer run out so that you fail. Keep letting the timer run out until you end the gallery. At the end you'll be awarded your trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/28.jpg Demolition Expert (B)

Shoot 10 exploding cans in single player Target Shooting Galleries.

Load up the first target shooting gallery. It will have seven or eight exploding cans. When you finish, select the option to replay the gallery. Shoot the remaining exploding cans you need and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/29.jpg True Hero (B)

In any 1 Player Arcade Shooting Gallery make your Hunter Award reach five stars.

You increase your multiplier by not missing shots. I got this trophy when going for the "Clean!" trophy without even trying. However, if you've managed to get that trophy and still haven't gotten this one, just take your time and line up each of your shots. You should reach the required multiplier very quickly.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/30.jpg Let Them Fall (S)

100 birds in single player Shooting Galleries.

Just keep shooting birds in the (first) arcade gallery and you’ll unlock this trophy in no time, especially if you’re using that gallery for the “Clean!” trophy.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/1195/31.jpg Clean! (S)

Hunt at least 75% of male animals in any single player Arcade Shooting Gallery.

This is the hardest trophy in this game, but like the others, it’s not all that hard. Birds and small game animals don’t seem to count for this trophy. I recommend going for this on the first arcade gallery. If you don’t take the extra path, there are only 56 available large game male animals to shoot. So, you’ll need to get a minimum of 42 of these to reach the 75%. Here is a video by shoe478 to help you all out:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61KUezmr4Bk]Clean![/ame]

Alternatively, celtic_blade has the following strategy:

...I was having issues with the Clean Trophy and found online somewhere that if you just shoot the first 14 male animals in the Montana arcade and get to the birds clean just stop and let the timer run out you will get credit for the trophy at 14/18 big game kills - I can confirm this works and is much easier...

May be worth mentioning that for the second playthrough using the trophy gun and compound bow must be done with chapter select. I started a new game and that resulted in a third playthrough. Other trophies accumulate through playtroughs, don't get me wrong though, I did enjoy this game but a third time through is going to be a grind, luckiliy it can be done in an hour and a half.

Thanks for the tip. I just assumed that's what people would do, especially since the bow and/or gun isn't available on the earlier maps if you start a new game. Anyhow, I'll make a note.

Thanks for the guide Cauchy - I was having issues with the Clean Trophy and found online somewhere that if you just shoot the first 14 male animals in the Montana arcade and get to the birds clean just stop and let the timer run out you will get credit for the trophy at 14/18 big game kills - I can confirm this works and is much easier. Might want to add that and no need to credit me - more kudos to whoever discovered it. Made that trophy rather easy.

Again thanks for the nice guide as usual!!

Good Reflexes! might turn out to be the most frustrating trophy I'll ever achieve.

Being an inverted FPS player, I'd like to get my hands on the idiots at Activision that thought having the invert function only apply to story mode and not the opportunity targets, and tear their friggin throats out.

Stupid, absolutely stupid.

You're either inverted or not. Only part of the game?

Idiots.
