Trophy Breakdown: 1(P) 4(G) 28(S) 65(B)

Burnout is an arcade style racer that emphasizes speed over realism. Its fast game play, sharp graphics, and free DLC has made it a fan favorite. There are actually 98 trophies total as of right now but 24 of the trophies require you to purchase additional content (10 more have yet to be released). There are also 13 trophies that are related to the free DLC but aren’t required for platinum, leaving 51 total trophies to get platinum. There are no difficulty levels in this game so all trophies can be earned in one play through. The game starts out very easy but gets a little bit tougher as you advance through it. Overall the races are all pretty easy and shouldn’t require you to play them more than a few times to beat.

Step 1- Licenses

Just go through and beat races until you get the Burnout license. During this time you should go over super jumps as you come across them as well as breaking gates and billboards. Through the new patch these things are much easier to spot due to the graphical updates. The super jumps will glow a blue color, gates will glow yellow and billboards will glow red. To get the platinum you will need to smash 60 of the 120 billboards, run through 200 of the 400 sets of gates, and go off 10 of the 50 super jumps. For this play through just go through them as you come across them, but don’t go out of your way searching for them.

Also during this time you should be on the lookout for burning routes. There is a burning route for every car but you only need to complete 5 of them to get the platinum. Every time you get into a new car you should check out your map and see where the burning route for that car is. When you finish a race that ends near the burning route for that car go ahead and complete it. If you stick to this tactic you should have completed 5 burning routes before you get your final license.

Other than those few tips just race over and over again. Take note that you can only complete each race once for each license. Once you beat a race on that license a little check mark will appear on it in your map so you know not to waste your time with it. Try to pick races that end near the start point for another race you want to complete so you don’t spend a lot of time driving to and from races. The new race restart feature that was added through a patch will also save you a lot of random driving time.

Step 2- Collectibles

After you get your Burnout license you can stop doing races and worry about the collectible trophies. Now would be a good time to finish off the super jumps, gates, and billboards that you didn’t get before. Through the pause menu you can see exactly how many of each you have already gotten so you know how close you are. There are maps that point out exactly where all of these “collectibles” are which makes the searching much easier. You also have to find all events and car parks, which are much easier once you have the maps below. You don’t actually have to race every event you just have to start it and then you can exit. By now you should have found most races and car parks but just compare the images below with your map to see if you are missing any. You also have to find a few specific locations and jump a certain super jump, all of which are highlighted in the car parks map. Lastly you have to visit all of the parking garages which can be seen in many of the images below.

You can also go to the last link and upload your save file that it will show you the locations of all of the things you still need to collect. There are detailed steps on the site that guide you through the process of doing this, and it will make your searching much easier and quicker.

Step 3- Road Rules

After this you can worry about the Road Rule trophies. Every street has a Time Road Rule and Showtime Road Rule. You will need to get ten of the time ones to get a bronze trophy so start on those now. Time Road Rules require you to go from one end of a street to the other faster than the goal time. These are pretty easy for the most part and shouldn’t require more than one or two tries to beat. Taken from the trophy guide “to start a time road rule first press up on the D Pad and go to time road rule offline, this then gives you the details of the time you have to beat on that road. Next you'll have to get to the beginning of the road.” There are a few good tips in the trophy guide so refer to that if you are having trouble beating the times. There are a ton of these though and you only need 10 so if you are having trouble with one just try a different street.

After this you can do the Showtime Road Rules of which you will also have to only do 10. These require you to crash into cars while you fly through the air and try to cover as much distance as possible. Taken from the trophy guide “Press up on the D Pad until you get to Offline Showtime Rule, or something similar. Then when your ready press L1+R1 at the same time, you should now enter showtime.” To build up your score you should always hit every bus you see because it will increase your multiplier by one every time you hit a new bus. Again, there are some helpful tips in the trophy guide that will assist you in maximizing your score if you are struggling. It is important to not that you don’t have to stay on the street you started on and it is actually better to try and cover as much distance as possible. Make sure that you get at least a 5X multiplier during one of your showtime sessions because there is a silver trophy for that.

Step 4 - Random

Now you can finish up the offline trophies by going for all of the random ones that you may not have gotten yet. You may or may not already have these depending on how you played the game up to this point.

The first trophy you may not have gotten is for driving through a repair shop during a road Road Rage. Simply find the road rage that is closest to a repair shop and start the race. Drive through the repair shop and you will get the trophy. You probably already got this trophy if you did any of the harder Road Rage races (and actually went for a high score), but if not it only takes a few minutes to get. You can also take out two birds with one stone and get the trophy for completing a Road Rage in the Carson Inferno Van

Next you can do a 180 degree flat spin, which again is very easy to do. Simply drive at a ramp as fast as possible. When you get to the end of the ramp push one of the directional arrows and pull the e-brake, which will cause you to spin in mid air. Get your car to spin a full 180 degrees to unlock the trophy.

Next you can go for the two boost chain trophies which require you to achieve a boost chain of 2x(bronze) and 4x(silver). To get a boost chain you must be in a speed class car. To get a boost chain you must constantly be using your boost, which requires a bit of skill and open road. You must stick to the oncoming lane and swerve in and out of traffic while boosting so that your meter continuously fills as you use it. The 2x trophy should be no problem but the 4x trophy can be a little tricky depending on your skills. I found that it is easiest to do this by starting at one end of the highway and boosting all the way through to the other end. This will also net you the trophy for driving 547 yards on the wrong side of the road if you haven’t gotten it yet.

Next you get to power park your car, which I can assume you didn’t do yet while playing. To do this you have to find somewhere that cars are parked on the side of the road. Find a place where there are 2 cars parked with an open spot in between them. Approach them head on and as you pass the front car pull your e-brake and get your car to pull a 180 into the open spot. There is a video in the trophy guide that will help you get the speed and timing down. This can take a bit of practice but shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes once you find a good spot.

Another easy one is to land a barrel roll jump. Just find a ramp that is split, meaning it has a lip on the right side that is higher than the left side. Drive into a ramp like this with a decent amount of speed and your car should do a barrel roll. Again, there is a video in the trophy guide that shows you how to do this. It is important to note that you must land the barrel roll to get the trophy. There are a few other random trophies that you may have missed but they are really self explanatory (ex: Drive through a paint shop) so I will not outline those.

Step 5 - Online - Unobtainable on PS3

The last step is to get the six online trophies, none of which are too time consuming. First find someone on your buddy list who is playing Burnout and invite them to join you online. You don’t even have to do any races and you will get the trophy. Next you can start doing the free burn challenges, of which you will need to do ten. There are tons of these to do and most of them take around 5 minutes to compete. Either invite a friend to join you or go into a random room and do 10 free burn challenges. Note that there are different challenges depending on how many people in the room. During these free burn challenges you should try to find an opportunity to jump over another player’s car to get that trophy. If you don’t get it you can simply ask someone to sit at the end of a ramp and let you jump over them to get the trophy.

The hardest trophy to get is probably the one that requires you to organize 8 people to meet at the Wildcat Stadium. You can try to just get in a room and wait until there are 8 people and then ask them all to go to the stadium, but this usually isn’t too successful. There is usually at least one person that ruins it for everyone. A better alternative is to use the stickied boosting thread to join other people that are trying to get the trophy as well. Lastly, you need to send a smug shot to someone while online. This is self explanatory, but it requires a camera to get so not everyone will get it. By this time you should have all of the trophies and that shiny platinum should show up.

Conclusion

Well there you have it, you should have the platinum by now. If not just go through your trophy list and see what you are missing. It is probably something simple that just requires you to go to a certain location, which you can look at the trophy guide for assistance. Burnout is a really exhilarating game and has a lot of game play to go along with the cheap price. There is tons of free DLC that can also be downloaded (all of which has its own trophies) and premium DLC as well. There is going to be a brand new island to explore soon so be on the lookout for that.

NOTE: You only have to do the Disk Trophies to get the platinum trophy. All of the DLC sets are to get to 100% in your Trophy Collection.

NOTE #2: Some of the DLC sets you have to pay for. The Cagney update and the Bikes pack are free. The Party Pack, Legendary Cars, Toy Cars, Boost Specials, Cops and Robbers, and Big Surf Island you have to pay for.

Some quick tips are to drive a fast car, drift on to the road, use your boost, and drive in oncoming traffic to keep your boost meter up. Obviously, avoiding all other cars is a good idea too. Each road has a different time that you have to beat.

spacer.png Set a Showtime Road Rule on any road (B)

Awarded for beating any of the original Showtime Road Rule scores.

Again, you have to earn your Class D license for these. At any point on any road, hit :l1: & :r1: at the same time to start the Showtime Road Rule. It’s very much like Crash mode from previous Burnout games. Hitting signs gives you a bonus $10,000 and hitting buses up your multiplier by 1. Your goal is to get yourself hit by cars to increase your points and keep your boost meter up. Aim for buses to up your multiplier. Put yourself in oncoming traffic to rack up more points. You don't have to stay on the road you started on. When your momentum slows down or stops, push :cross: to get yourself going again. Doing this drains your boost meter much quicker though. You can go on any road in Paradise City and still get credit for completing the Showtime for the road you started on. Each road has a different score that you have to break.

spacer.png Score a x3 Multiplier in Showtime (B)

Awarded for reaching a x3 Multiplier in Showtime.

Start a Showtime Road Rules by pressing :l1: & :r1: at the same time. The same tips apply, get yourself in oncoming traffic and hit as many cars as possible. To get your multiplier up, you want to hit buses. Every bus you hit ups your multiplier by 1. By hitting two, you get your multiplier up to 3, and you should get the trophy. Busy streets around downtown are best for this, but you can also get large multipliers on the back roads in White Mountain and Silver Lake, it’s just more difficult.

spacer.png Score a x5 Multiplier in Showtime (S)

Awarded for reaching a x5 Multiplier in Showtime.

Start a Showtime Road Rules by pressing :l1: & :r1: at the same time. The same tips apply, get yourself in oncoming traffic and hit as many cars as possible. Busy streets around downtown are best for this, but you can also get large multipliers on the back roads in White Mountain and Silver Lake, it’s just more difficult. To get your multiplier up, you want to hit buses. Every bus you hit ups your multiplier by 1. By hitting four, you get your multiplier up to 5, and you should get the trophy.

spacer.png Perform 3 Takedowns (B)

Awarded for performing your third Takedowns.

You should get this in your first Road Rage event. Road Rages are marked by red circles on your map. The requirements to beat should be about three takedowns. Takedowns are pretty easy to get. Slam your car into another one during a Road Rage event. Try to push the other car into a wall, a building, oncoming traffic, or anything that makes them crash.

spacer.png Drive through a Repair Shop during a Road Rage (B)

Awarded for driving through an Auto Repair during any Offline Road Rage.

While you’re doing a Road Rage, your car will get pretty beat up. Depending on how strong your car is, you’re allowed a certain amount of crashes. Obviously, it’s better to use stronger cars during Road Rages. After your car gets beat up a bit, drive through any Repair station and you’ll unlock this trophy. The repair stations are marked by the wrench icon on your map, so try to head in the general direction of any one of them.

spacer.png Perform a 180 degree Flatspin (B)

Awarded for performing a "Flatspin" of at least 180 degrees.

Another pretty easy trophy. When driving up a ramp, hit :square: to set your car into a flat spin. If you get enough height off the ramp, you can easily get over 180 degrees. The higher the jump the better.

spacer.png Successfully land your first Super Jump (B)

Awarded when you successfully land your 1st Super Jump.

Land any of the 50 super jumps in Paradise City. The Super Jumps are now marked by blue cones with flashing blue lights at the top of them (before the update from Criterion, they were yellow). I would recommend doing the jump at Dead Man’s Edge because you’ll get two trophies at the same time. You can find the location of that is on the map that is listed with the Dead Man's Edge trophy. A map showing the locations of all the Super Jumps is shown withe "Land 10 Super Jumps" trophy.

spacer.png Score a Burnout Chain of x2 (B)

Awarded for achieving your first Boost Chain of x2.

You have to use a speed class car for this trophy. You have to start with a full boost meter. Use :cross: to boost, and if you gain enough points while you’re boosting, the meter will fill up again and you’ll start a chain. For this trophy, you only have to refill it once. To gain points so that the boost meter will refill, drive in don’t crash, drive in oncoming traffic or just on the wrong side of the road, and get some near misses. Whatever your do, don’t let off :cross:.

spacer.png Score a Burnout Chain of x4 (S)

Awarded for achieving your first Boost Chain of x4.

You have to use a speed class car for this trophy. You have to start with a full boost meter. Use :cross: to boost, and if you gain enough points while you’re boosting, the meter will fill up again and you’ll start a chain. For this trophy, you have to refill it three times. To gain points so that the boost meter will refill, drive in don’t crash, drive in oncoming traffic or just on the wrong side of the road, and get some near misses. Whatever your do, don’t let off :cross:.

spacer.png Survive a Marked Man (B)

Awarded for winning any Offline Marked Man.

If you’re going through the licenses, you’ll eventually have to do a Marked Man event. These are like Road Rages, but are the opposite way. Instead of you trying to take down a few cars, a few cars will try to take down you as you race to a point. You’ll want to be in an aggressive class car for these. These are marked by the yellow circles on your map. Survive one, and the trophy is yours.

spacer.png Beat the target score in Stunt Run (B)

Awarded for winning any Offline Stunt Run.

Again, going through the licenses will eventually force you to do a Stunt Run. For these, you have to change together stunts to up your multiplier and get a higher score. The stunt class cars are the best for these. Jumping through billboards (even if you’ve already smashed them), doing barrel rolls, pulling a flat spin, and going over super jumps all build up your multiplier. The multiplier has a timer, but using your boost will reset the timer. Use your boost when you have to and drive in oncoming traffic to build your boost up again. Just be careful not to crash as that will end your multiplier. The stunt runs are marked by the green circles on your map.

spacer.png Power Park your car (B)

Awarded for successfully "Power Parking" your car between two other vehicles.

The description for this trophy is very misleading, as it implies you have to power park your car inbetween 2 others when it actually doesn't matter if it's in the middle or either side of them. You need to be driving and when you see two parked cars together, press and hold :square: and steer your car in between or behind/in front the two parked cars or behind/front of them. If done correctly, you will get a Power Park rating as a percentage. A rating of 30% or higher, will pop the trophy but it doesn't matter if you do this on or offline. See this video if you need additional help (credit to AcingGamesTEW for this):

spacer.png Set 10 Showtime Road Rules (B)

Awarded when you set your 10th Showtime Road Rule.

You have to earn your Class D license for these. Completing the Showtime Road Rule for any 10 roads will earn you this trophy.

spacer.png Set 10 Time Road Rules (B)

Awarded when you set your 10th Time Road Rule.

You have to earn your Class D license for the Time and Showtime Road Rules to become available. Once they open up, every road in Paradise City has a Time and Showtime Road Rule associated with it. The Time Road Rules will begin as soon as you drive on to either the beginning or the end of a road. Some quick tips are to drive a fast car, drift on to the road, use your boost, and drive in oncoming traffic to keep your boost meter up. Obviously, avoiding all other cars is a good idea too. Each road has a different time that you have to beat. Set the new Road Rule time on 10 different roads to get this trophy.

spacer.png Complete 5 Burning Routes (B)

Awarded when you complete your 5th Burning Route.

Each car has a Burning Route associated with it, so you’ll have to do this in five different cars. Eventually you’ll have to do these if you want to progress through your licenses. Once you get in a car, your map will show where the Burning Route for that car is. Burning Routes are the orange circles, and the one for the car that you’re in will be marked with a star.

spacer.png Drive on the wrong side of the road for 547 yards (B)

Awarded for driving a distance of 547 yards in Oncoming Traffic in one go.

Hop in a car and drive for over 547 yards in the wrong direction. Don’t crash and don’t veer onto the sidewalk/shoulder or too far over the yellow line. Any of those will reset the counter and you’ll have to start over. A good place to do this is on the long road that is to the south of the junkyard you start at. It’s a long road that is pretty straight and you can easily get over 1,000 yards driving on the wrong side of the road.

spacer.png Shutdown the Carson Inferno Van (B)

Awarded when you "Shutdown" the Carson Inferno Van.

Once you win 51 events, you’ll get another message from DJ Atomica that this car is now in Paradise City. Again, take it down and it’ll be delivered to the junk yard. Here is a picture of it:

spacer.png

spacer.png Score over 50,000 in a Stunt Run (S)

Awarded for scoring over 50,000 in any Offline Stunt Run.

For this, you have to change together stunts to up your multiplier and get a higher score. I would recommend trying to get this on your first Stunt Run since the score will be pretty low compared to how high it will towards the end of the game. The stunt runs are marked by the green circles on your map.

spacer.png Successfully land 10 Super Jumps (B)

Awarded when you successfully land your 10th Super Jump.

Land any 10 of the 50 Super Jumps in Paradise City. These will be marked by blue cones with blue flashing lights on top of the cones. This map has the location of every Super Jump:

spacer.png

spacer.png Land a Barrel Roll jump (B)

Awarded for successfully landing a Barrel Roll jump.

Some people seem to have a lot of trouble with this one. Fortunately, Criterion has made this easier through a recent update. Some ramps in Paradise City will have a side part that is higher than most of the ramp. Line up your car so that half will go on the higher part and half will stay on the rest of the ramp. The new update will automatically level your car out for you. If you want to try to hit a double barrel roll (which you’ll need a pretty high drop for, by the way), use the left analog stick to rotate your car while you’re in the air.

spacer.png Find all the Events around Paradise City (B)

Awarded when you have discovered every event in Paradise City.

Most of the intersections in Paradise City have some kind of event associated with them. If you drive through the intersection, you’ll find the event. Use this map to locate the events that you don’t have.

spacer.png

Alternatively, you can use the Criterion Games save analyzer. Go to this website, and upload your game save using a USB drive and you’ll see what you’ve missed. Here are directions on how to use this tool:

spacer.png Visit all the Car Parks in Paradise City (B)

Another is to join a game that has 7 people in it and ask everyone to meet up in the stadium. Still another is to host a game, wait until you have a full room, and then start the “Batter Up” Freeburn Challenge. You may have to wait a few seconds in the stadium for this to unlock.

DLC Set #3 – Party Pack

spacer.png Every player succeeds in a Party Round (B)

Awarded when every player successfully completes a Party Round.

This is pretty self explanatory. Every player in a party game needs to complete the requirements. This is better in small games because there will be less of a chance that you screw up. Once the round is complete, the trophy is yours.

spacer.png Complete your 1st Party Round (B)

Awarded when you complete the 1st Round of your 1st Party.

This is pretty self explanatory. Complete one round, and you’ll get this.

spacer.png Every player take a photo for a Party (B)

Awarded when every player in a Party takes a photo of themselves. Requires a USB camera to be connected.

The other trophy that you’ll need a USB camera for. When you select how many players you want to have in the game, press down, and then :cross: to edit the player’s names. After you enter each player’s name, you’ll have the option of taking a photo. Press :cross: to take the photo. Repeat for each other player.

spacer.png Every player succeeds in every Party Game (S)

Awarded upon completing a Party in which every player successfully completes every Game of every Round.

Start a small party of 2 players with 1 round. Have both players succeed at whatever the game is that you choose. The trophy will unlock.

Awarded when 2-4 players have completed a Party.

Start a one round party with two players. This trophy will unlock after the game is completed.

spacer.png Complete a Big Party (S)

Awarded when 5-7 players have completed a Party.

Start a one round party with five players. This trophy will unlock after the game is completed.

spacer.png Complete a Massive Party (S)

Awarded when 8 players have completed an 8 Round Party.

This is the longest trophy in the Party Pack. This will probably take you about 30 to 45 minutes. Start up a game with eight players and have eight rounds in it. It’s easy because you don’t need eight players, but it will take a bit of time.

DLC Set #4 – Legendary Cars, Toy Cars, and Boost Specials

spacer.png Win a Stunt Run in the P12 88 Special (B)

Awarded for winning any Offline Stunt Run driving the P12 88 Special.

This is the “Back to the Future” car. Select Legendary Cars when you go to a junkyard and get in this car. Take it to the nearest stunt run (green circle on the map), and go through like you did for the other stunt run trophies. I would recommend trying to get this on your first Stunt Run since the score will be pretty low compared to how high it will towards the end of the game. The stunt runs are marked by the green circles on your map.

spacer.png Light up the Manhattan Spirit during an Online Challenge (B)

Awarded for using the flashing lights of the Manhattan Spirit during an Online Freeburn Challenge or Timed Challenge.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

Get in the Manhattan Spirit (the Ghostbusters car) and join any room that is doing Freeburn challenges. Once a challenge begins, hit :l3: to start the sirens.

spacer.png Score a Boost Chain of x3 in the GT Nighthawk (B)

Awarded for achieving a Boost Chain of x3 driving the GT Nighthawk.

This is the Knight Rider car. The same ideas apply as the other boost chain trophies. Whatever your do, don’t let off :cross:.

spacer.png Sound the horn on a Silver Lake Super Jump in the Cavalry Bootlegger (B)

Awarded for sounding the horn and successfully landing a Super Jump in Silver Lake driving the Cavalry Bootlegger.

Use the map shown in the “Land 10 Super Jumps” trophy to find any jump in Silver Lake (which is on the eastern part of the lake). Take the Calvary Bootlegger (the Dukes of Hazzard car) and jump it. Again, the jumps are marked by blue cones with flashing blue lights on top of them. While you’re in the air, hit :l3: to honk the horn, and enjoy.

spacer.png Barrel Roll a Toy Car in the Airfield (B)

Awarded for successfully landing a Barrel Roll in the Airfield driving any of the Toy Cars.

When you’re at a junkyard, select Toy Cars from the menu. Take any of the toy cars and do a barrel roll in the airfield. The toy Jensen P12 is probably the best for this. This requires the same idea as the other barrel roll trophy. Line up your car so that half will go on the higher part and half will stay on the rest of the ramp. The new update will automatically level your car out for you.

spacer.png Survive a Marked Man in the Extreme Hot Rod (S)

Awarded for winning any Offline Marked Man driving the Extreme Hot Rod.

Go to a junkyard and select Boost Specials from the menu. Get in the Extreme Hot Rod and find the nearest Marked Man event (if you go to the junkyard you start at, you won’t have to go far). The Marked Man events are marked by the yellow circles. This car doesn’t have the best handling, but it’s still easy to complete this.

spacer.png Complete a Timed Challenge using all 3 Boost types in the Hawker Mech (S)

Awarded when you complete any Timed Challenge driving the Hawker Mech having used all 3 boost types.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

While you’re in the junkyard, select Boost Specials, and choose the Hawker Mech. Connect online and create a room. Wait until someone joins or a friend joins, and start a Timed Challenge using the Easy Drive menu. Once the challenge starts, use all three boost types (speed, stunt, and aggression) during the challenge. You switch between them with the :l3: button.

spacer.png Win a Race in a Toy Car (S)

Awarded for winning any Offline Race driving any of the Toy Cars.

At a Junkyard, select Toy Cars and choose any of the toy cars that you have purchased. By the way, you only need to buy two toy cars (the bike and one that is fast, the Jensen P12 is recommended). Find the nearest race and win. Actually, you may not need to win at all. Unless this has been fixed by a later update, people have finished in as far back as 5th and received this trophy.

spacer.png Complete a Bike Timed Challenge using the Toy Bike (S)

Awarded when you complete any Timed Challenge using the Toy Bike.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

At a Junkyard, select Toy Cars and choose the toy bike. Connect online and find a room that is doing bike challenges or create your own room and wait until someone (or a friend) joins you. Start a Timed Challenge from the Easy Drive menu and once you complete it, this trophy will unlock.

spacer.png Win a game on the Robbers team (S)

Awarded for being on the winning Robbers team in an Online Cops and Robbers game.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

spacer.png Win a best of five rounds game (S)

Awarded for being on the winning team of a best of five round game of Online Cops and Robbers.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

The game has to be set up as a Best of 5 game. After you setup the Cops and Robbers game, go back into the Easy Drive menu and select Set Rounds. Select Best of 5. You can be on either the Cops or the Robbers, but to get this trophy, you and your teammates have to deliver the gold to your hideout three times.

spacer.png Win a game driving the Watson R-Turbo Roadster (B)

Awarded for being on the winning team of an Online Cops and Robbers game driving the Watson R-Turbo Roadster.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

This one is up to the host of the room. Whoever the host is, the car that is selected is whatever they are driving. Host your own room and drive this car, or ask the host if they can select this car. DLC Set #6 – Big Surf Island

Note: You do not have to complete these trophies to get the platinum trophy.

(Thank you to Floor-3013 at Operation Burnout for the use of his maps)

spacer.png Drive through 20 Island Smash gates (B)

Awarded when you drive through your 20th set of Orange Island Smash Gates.

This is the same principle as the other "smash the gates" trophies, except that these are orange gates and are scattered through a smaller area. There are 75 total.

spacer.png

spacer.png Smash 15 Island billboards (S)

Awarded when you smash through your 15th pristine Island billboard.

Again, this is the same idea as the original billboard trophies. These are also orange. There are a total of 45. Smash a third of them. For all the locations, see the "Smash 45 Billboards" trophy.

spacer.png Land 5 Island Mega Jumps (B)

Awarded when you successfully land your 5th Island Mega Jump.

Another one that is the same as the original trophies. These jumps are huge. Mega Jumps is a good way to describe them. There are 15 around the island. Land five, and the trophy is yours.

spacer.png

spacer.png Jump through Deese's Donut (B)

Successfully land the Island Mega Jump through Deese's Donut.

This is one of the Mega Jumps on the island. The donut is right next to the "Tour of Duty" event (and is shown on the map with the "Inspiral Car Park" trophy). Drive to the south, and you'll find a car park that has a spiral road up (this is not the one that you have to do for the "750 Yard Drift Trophy) to the top. Go off the ramp to your right and smash a billboard. You'll land on another roof and find a ramp lined up perfectly with the donut. Land the jump. This is also an Island Freeburn Challenge.

spacer.png 4.5 seconds of Crash TV Air Time (B)

Successfully land the Island Mega jump from the Crash TV Ski Jump and get at least 4.5 seconds of Air Time.

This jump is pretty fun, it's just not the easiest to find. It's a long run through the road to get to the jump. See the map with the "Inspiral Car Park" trophy. Use the Dust Storm as it's pretty easy to control when you're going up the long ramp. This jump is a part of one of the Island Freeburn Challenges.

spacer.png Complete a 750yd drift inside the Inspiral Car Park (B)

Awarded when you complete a continuous 750yd drift inside the Inspiral car Park.

This car park is a giant spiral and is pretty easy to do once you find it. Just drift from the street up to the top level of the car park.

spacer.png

spacer.png Complete your first Island Tour (B)

Awarded when you successfully complete your first Island tour.

There are two Burning Routes on the island, the Tour of Duty and the Tour de Force. Both are basically like the Burning Routes that you've come to know and possibly love but they have checkpoints and jumps in them. On the map, these events are marked with the orange circles (in the game, they are also marked with palm trees). See "Find all Events" for the map of all events.

spacer.png Find all Island events (B)

Awarded when you find all 15 events on Big Surf Island.

Another that is the same as the original trophies. Drive through every intersection on the island, and you should find all 15 pretty quickly. Here is a map with all 15 event locations on the island:

spacer.png

Note: Yes, this is a bronze trophy even though the trophy image is of a silver trophy. Criterion blew it, not me. :D

spacer.png Complete all 10 Island Freeburn Challenges (S)

Awarded when you successfully complete all 10 Island Freeburn Challenges. These can be completed by 2 -8 players.

UNOBTAINABLE ON PS3

Complete all 10 of the Island Freeburn Challenges. They can be completed with anywhere from 2-8 players but with fewer players, some of the challenges are easier. The challenges are:

1. Jumpin' Donuts - Jump through Deese's Donut.

2. Drain Jump - Part 1: Meet in the storm drain. Part 2: Spend 10 seconds in the air, anywhere.

3. Steam Rollers - Everybody land two barrel rolls on the beach.

4. Crane in the Neck - Part 1: Meet on the roof of the Holness Hotel. Part 2: Jump off the left-hand crane's Mega Jump.

5. Lighthouse Rock - Part 1: Meet at the university dome. Part 2: Jump through the lighthouse.

6. Hang Time! - Part 1: Meet at the bottom of the Crash TV Ski Jump. Part 2: For all drivers, jump together off the Crash TV Ski Jump.

7. Hoop-la - Jump through the double circle at the Shires construction site.

8. Walk the Plank - Part 1: Park on the tip of the walkways above the construction site. Part 2: Land the Mega Jump.

9. I Spiral - Everyone get 1500 yards of drift and 3 near misses in the Inspiral Car Park.

10. Jumpers - Jump above the Paradise Keys Bridge structure.

Note: Yes, this is a silver trophy even though the trophy image is of a bronze trophy. Criterion blew it, not me. :D

spacer.png Smash all 45 Billboards (S)

Awarded when you've smashed through all 45 billboards.

Smash through all the billboards on the island. If you were able to do the original billboard trophies, this won't cause you a problem.

Excellent work olsen. This may be one of the best guides I have seen on here so far. I think too many guides say things are self explanatory or just link to information on other sites. Its nice to see a complete guide where you give a pretty foolproof description of how to get each trophy. Happy that i could contribute to this guide, keep up the good work

It is indeed very complete and detailed. I'll check with the other staff but to me this is no comparison to the current one on the site. If the other staffers, and members, feel it's better I'll swap them and yours will be the current guide.

So members, if you feel this is better or has helped you more, please post saying it helped.

I agree 100%. I see so many guide on here with a bunch of "Like it says, kill the rabid dog" descriptions in them. Makes me sad. :(

It is indeed very complete and detailed. I'll check with the other staff but to me this is no comparison to the current one on the site. If the other staffers, and members, feel it's better I'll swap them and yours will be the current guide.

So members, if you feel this is better or has helped you more, please post saying it helped.

I already did it just on the premise that the author of the old guide is banned and therefore can never update it with new content. But yes, this guide is miles better than the old one.

Check the last post of the guide. They're already there. I'm just waiting on the island to be released so it can be updated with maps and tips. Thanks though. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

The island comes out today, so I'll start working on finishing up the guide tonight. Hopefully, it'll be done this weekend.

Update #1: A few tips and details have been added as well as the trophy images. I'm working on finding maps and finishing off the DLC pack.

Update #2: A map with all the event locations has been added. I apologize again for the crappy quality. I'm trying to find a better one, but the best I can do for now is to take a picture of the TV screen.
