Is brink a fail or will it make a new era for shooters?

Curious on the opinions of other people on this game on if you think itll start a line of more games like it or if you want them to. I for one loved it and would really like to see more like it.

To be honest, I really like the idea Brink brought forth. I hadn't even watched too many gameplay videos, but the concept of playing with 15 other players co-operatively and competitively really excited me. The execution was a bit poor and some of the aspects of the game is a bit underwhelming, but I would still jump into the hype-wagon when Splash Damage announces the sequel to this otherwise mediocre game.

Wasn't hyped at first until I saw the tutorial video's. Got totally hyped and after playing it, it was a small let down. However, the more hours you put into it, the more fun it seems to be. It needs a bigger online community though. Maybe the new free DLC might make people think twice about this game :) All in all, not a bad game and I kinda enjoy it. If there was a bigger community, I would enjoy it even more.

I mean not really the game is very much fun when ya get it with ppl playing with ya and really with DLC I can see this game getting much better I hope for a level cap in the 50s maybe to give me something to do 20 didnt cut it nor will 24 I think but a update to the games AI would be a huge help and some more maps from DLC and I think brink will be a very fine game I kinda am upset I paid 45 bucks for it I could have waited for a bigger drop but over all I enjoy the game and think its not a fail just not "done" in my eyes a 2nd Brink or some DLC and updates should help this get right back along the path of greatness.

I really dig this game. It's a fun little fast paced shooter I was a huge fan of Team Fortress 2, and this one really reminded me of it the SMART system is pretty spot on. I just wish that it didn't feel so underpowered. I'm looking forward to the dlc, and hope as the game becomes cheaper more folks will catch on to this superb little game.

My sentiments exactly, I like their creativity, but I feel Brink still needs a lot of work. :deadhorse:

1. The class system is heavily borrowed from Battlefield.

2. There is hardly any parkour/acrobatics in the game. Just climbing stuff like in Uncharted and Assassin's Creed, but only the basic climbing.

3. Frag grenades are the worst I've ever seen in any FPS. I've seen sparklers do more damage. Same goes for the grenade launcher gun... the thing bounces around like a pinball before exploding far away from where you wanted it to hit.

4. Enemy AI is more brutal than Veteran mode on Black Ops. Two shots and you're dead. Additionally, was this game's engine based off of Homefront's engine? It looks similar in terms of gameplay and AI. Even the killfeed looks really similar.

5. Teammate AI is fucking retarded. I've seen guys back into enemies as they were firing at them, engineers set up turrets facing the wrong direction, medics run right past me and others as I lay there dying, etc.

6. Each level has an infinite spawn of enemies. If you get past one section of a level, they'll still keep respawning there. So if you die and have to respawn at a place before a point you already passed, there will be enemies there waiting for you.

7. There is only one spawnpoint for every section of a level (which would be fine), but sometimes you have to go at least 70 meters to get to where your objective is. This basically means 80% sprinting to objective and 20% actual fighting at objective. This is the worst on the last part of the second Resistance mission on Hard (escorting the injured guy out of the base).

8. I could figure out what the storylines were, but the cutscenes were nothing but weird-looking alpha male dudes complaining. You'd think Bethesda would learn something from Obsidian's Fallout storytelling skills.

9. I don't understand online matchmaking. I set up a level to be played against someone online, but I never saw any presence of another player. I might as well have been playing against the computer for all I knew. Didn't even see what my opponent's PSN ID was.

10. Lastly... if you play Brink while not signed into PSN you will get random error messages saying "cannot communicate with Playstation Network" or something like that. In the middle of gameplay it'll just pop up and you have to exit out of the screen manually. Very annoying.
