Introduction:

Big Sky Infinity is a twin-stick shooter with randomly generated levels, an extensive upgrade system and a gameplay adapting to your performances. The better you play, the harder it gets. The list overall is easy but time-consuming. However, you will need luck and patience to get the King of the Skies trophy.

Walkthrough:

Important notes:

- Most trophies pop at the end of a round so do not worry if you don't unlock trophies soon after fulfilling the requirements.

- Unless mentioned, this Trophy Guide is based on the updated version of the game (patch 1.02).

Step 1: Tutorial

You can turn off the tutorial in the 'Options' menu but I suggest that you go through it to learn the basics of the game. After the tutorial, you will be in Peaceful Mode. You can keep playing in it to get most of the miscellaneous trophies out of the way. During this step, you should earn:

(B) Attack of Boomer V

(B) Close Encounters

(B) Slaughterific

(B) Check out my pad

(B) Home Potato

Step 2: Highscores

You can play in Classic Mode to get a better feeling of the game since Peaceful Mode is set at the lowest difficulty or you could work your way on unlocking every mode immediately. Try to get the rest of the miscellaneous trophies, and the highscore in required modes for Highscorer. During this step, you should earn:

(B) x100

(B) Black Holed

(B) Lucky Number Seven

(B) Averagescorer

(S) Highscorer

Step 3: Classic Mode grind

You will need to play a lot in Classic Mode to get enough Starbits (currency for upgrades) for 'Check out my shop'. While grinding on that, you can also work towards the other time-consuming trophies. During this step, you should earn:

(S) Massacrertastic

(B) Check out my shop

(S) Tolkienesque

Step 4: Clean up and King of the skies

Unless you're very lucky and/or skilled, you will probably need the King of the skies as your last trophy. Work on the rest first since you will probably need to wipe your save data for it. Check the trophy description for more information. During this step, you should earn:

(G) King of the skies

Trophy Guide

See Massacrertastic.

Make a nearby bad guy envious of your drill

You will unlock this trophy when drilling (hit :cross: or :r1: (PS3)/:vitar: (Vita)) into an Asteroid or a Solid Planet right next to an enemy and the Asteroid/Solid Planet kills it.

:tagequipment:

This is the most time consuming trophy of the game. You have to unlock every entry in the 'Library' section of the game. You can check your progress while in the 'Library' or in the 'Trophies' tab of the 'Stats' section.

You can find a detailed guide for this trophy here: Tolkienesque Guide

The following is in the guide above but this is really important so I am mentioning it here:

  • You will need an extra controller if you're playing the PS3 version.
  • The 1.02 patch greatly reduced the time needed to level up ranks but also added several enemies, bosses and events. They are all needed for this trophy.
  • The paid DLC 'Retro Mode' also adds an entry for the Library but it is not mandatory and is unlocked when installed.
  • If the trophy doesn't pop when you 100% complete the Library, play another round and it will unlock at the end of it.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/E89.jpg Home Potato (B)

Spend 20 seconds in the heart of an asteroid

Asteroids are rocks or varying size floating around the screen from time to time and should not be confounded with Solid Planets (full screen planets you need to drill through). For this trophy, you need to drill and stay inside asteroids for 20 seconds. You can spend the 20 seconds in different asteroids since doing that with just one is practically impossible. However, this must be done in a single round so I suggest that you play in Peaceful Mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/5AB.jpg Averagescorer (B)

Get a highscore of 50,000 on each mode

:tagstackable:

See Highscorer.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/998.jpg Lucky number Seven (B)

Smash through difficulty level 7

The difficulty level raises depending on how well you are doing in a round (killing enemies, picking powerups etc.). There is no way to tell when you reach a new difficulty level during a round but Pacifism Mode is the easiest mode to unlock this trophy.

In Pacifism Mode, you can't use your lasers and the spin Attack but you can still use your drill. You must avoid enemies and your score raises the further you go into this mode. I suggest that you pick the 'x40 multiplier', '+50 radioshield' and '+50 base engine' perks (priority on perk selection in this order) at the start of a round. The multiplier helps boosting the difficulty from the start, the radioshield and base engine gives you more survivability with respectively a shield to sustain damages and more movement speed to dodge the enemies more easily. Getting a score of around 350,000-400,000pts while surviving around 3 cascade events should be enough to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/3B8.jpg Attack of Boomer V (B)

Destroy 5 enemies at once using a Boomer

This should be one of the first trophies you will unlock. Boomers are really common enemies in the game. They look like black idling balls at first but turn red and bounce around if you shoot at them. They will automatically explode if they touch another enemy. You will unlock this trophy if you kill at least 5 enemies with a Boomer. Crowded moments such as Cascade events or just after a boss death should guarantee you the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/A67.jpg x100 (B)

Get a x100 multiplier!

In most modes, you can see your score multiplier in the top-left corner during a round. You need to reach x100 to unlock the trophy. Your multiplier increases by collecting starbits, killing bosses or hovering over yellow MULTI powerup pads. The quickest way is definitely the MULTI pads. If you play in some other modes beside Classic Mode, you can pick the 'x40 multiplier' perk at the beginning of a round to get a nice head start.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/A72.jpg Check out my pad (B)

This ship is fast and powerful

You need to collect a certain amount of specific powerup pads in a single round. Since trophies only pop at the end of a round and there aren't any counter for it, it is difficult to tell exactly how many pads you need. For this trophy, you need to focus only on 3 types of pads: the red 'laser speed', the blue 'laser spread' and the purple 'ship speed' ones. You will only find them while drilling through Solid Planets. The easiest mode to get this trophy is Peaceful Mode since you have unlimited lives.

You can also try in one of the modes where you can pick perks before the start of a round and choose the '2x powerup rate' perk.

Drilling through at least 10 Solid Planets should be enough. You can of course keep going to be on the safe side.

Note: Solid Planets spawn rate is lower with the 1.02 patch installed. Play with the pre-patch version if you want to get this trophy more easily.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/244.jpg Check out my shop (B)

Buy the shop!

This is a time consuming trophy. Available only in Classic Mode, the shop contains permanent upgrades for your ship but only for this mode. You can buy upgrades with Starbits collected while playing in Classic Mode. You can access the shop by pressing :triangle: when you highlight the Classic Mode in the 'Play' section of the game. You will also automatically enter it before and after a Classic Mode round if you have enough Starbits.

Here is the list of items you can upgrade with the initial upgrade cost, the amount of Starbits needed to fully upgrade them and the 'Ultra' cost. Once a stat is fully upgraded, you can buy a one-round-only 'Ultra' version of it. It is not needed for this trophy but you need to buy one for Tolkienesque.

  • Wideband (40 - 384,200): Adds two extra lasers fired at a 45 degree angle from your main laser. Each upgrade increases the rate of fire.
Ultra (44,880): Wideband lasers are 10x stronger and the fire rate is at maximum.
  • Polarshot (40 - 384,200): Adds two extra lasers fired at a 90 degree angle from your main laser. Each upgrade increases the rate of fire.
Ultra (44,880): Polarshot lasers are 10x stronger and the fire rate is at maximum.
  • Contra (25 - 361,400): Adds an extra laser fired at a 180 degree angle from your main laser. Each upgrade increases the rate of fire.
Ultra (43,050): Contra lasers are 20x stronger and the fire rate is at maximum.
  • Coherence (14 - 351,050): Makes your lasers stronger with each upgrade.
Ultra (105,570): Stops lasers from pausing once they hit an enemy.
  • Frequency (49 - 377,300): Increases the rate of fire of your main laser with each upgrade.
Ultra (110,745): Main lasers are 5x stronger and the fire rate is at maximum.
  • Magnetcoil (3 - 335,800): Increases the Starbits collection range of your ship with each upgrade.
Ultra (61,509): Doubles the collection range and increases Starbits value by 50%.
  • Electromagnet (8 - 343,400): Increases the damage radius of your Spin Attacks with each upgrade.
Ultra (41,616): Doubles the radius your Spin Attacks.
  • Orbital (60 - 390,100): Creates a small ball shield spinning around your ship. It damages enemies and blocks their shots. Each upgrade increases the speed, the size and the range of the shield.
Ultra (67,980): Doubles the ball size and speed.
  • Claymore (45 - 372,200): Spaws small red mines from your ship from time to time. Each upgrade increases the Claymore spawn rate and size.
Ultra (109,725): Increases the Claymore explosion radius and spawn rate.
  • Base Engine (40 - 384,200): Increases your ship movement speed with each upgrade.
Ultra (67,320): Increases your ship speed by 50%.
  • Radioshield (35 - 366,800): Adds blue aura around your ship. It stops most damages but depletes after every hit until it is gone. Each upgrade makes the shield last longer.
Ultra (86,940): Your shield last twice as long.
  • Wingcannon (20 - 358,700): Adds two extra lasers fired in the same direction as your main laser. They're quicker than your main laser and each upgrade increase their rate of fire.
Ultra (42,840): Wingcannon lasers are 20x stronger and the fire rate is at maximum.
  • Total (without Ultra cost): 4,409,350 Starbits

Upgrading the Magnetcoil stat will help you get Starbits more easily. This trophy will pop as soon as you fully upgrade your last stat.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/EB4.jpg Black Holed (B)

Peacefully survive a Black Hole!

When you enter a Blackhole, the screen will turn red and you will hear an air raid siren during the whole event. The most noticeable characteristic of this kind of events is the unusual enemies you can met only in Blackholes such as Dinosaur skulls firing lasers from their mouths.

For this trophy, you need to play in Pacifism Mode and survive a Blackhole event. The 1.02 patch made this trophy easier by adding more Blackhole-only enemies. Indeed, before the patch, you could only meet Dinosaurs. They tend to flood the screen with their number and their lasers. The new enemies (Ninjas, Pirates, Vikings etc.) have more manageable patterns. You will know when you are reaching the end of a Blackhole when the air raid siren starts to fade and the music and screen come back to normal.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/EB6.jpg Massacrertastic (S)

Destroy 20,000 enemies

Self-explanatory. You will destroy way more than what is required for this trophy while working on the time-consuming 'Tolkienesque' trophy.

However, if you want to get this trophy out of the way quickly, play in Peaceful Mode. You have infinite Spin Attacks, the enemies are easier to kill and the game is less hectic due to the low difficulty of the mode.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/1842/53C.jpg Highscorer (S)

Get a highscore of 125,000 on each mode

:tagstackable:

Except for a couple of modes, it is easy to reach a highscore of 125,000 points thanks the perks you can pick at the start of a round. Here is the list of perks:

  • Max laser speed - Max out your laser speed
Self-explanatory. Your lasers take less time to travel the screen.
  • Max laser spread - Max out your laser spread
Your laser will be less accurate but you will cover more area.
  • +50 Wideband - Adds 50 points to your Wideband stat
Adds two extra lasers fired at a 45 degree angle from your main laser.
  • +50 Polarshot - Adds 50 points to your Polarshot stat
Adds two extra lasers fired at a 90 degree angle from your main laser.
  • +50 Radioshield - Adds 50 points to your Shield stat
Adds a blue aura around your ship. It stops most damages but depletes after every hit until it is gone.
  • +50 Base Engine - Adds 50 points to your Base Engine stat
    Increases your ship movement speed.
  • 40x multiplier - Start off with 40x multiplier
You start the round with a 40x score multiplier.
  • 7x Starbit value - Starbits are raised to 7x their usual value
Increases the Starbits score value and make it so you need less Starbits for your Chargebeam.
  • No starbit fade - Starbits don't fade away over distance
Self-explanatory. Starbits and thus their value, fade the longer you wait before picking them.
  • More Boomers - Increases the amount of Boomers generated
Self-xplanatory. Boomers are useful since their explosion can easily clear areas.
  • Longer B.P.B - Back Pressure Buildup lasers deplete at half the usual rate
Back Pressure lasers are more powerful than your normal ones but deplete over time. This perk makes your B.P.B last longer before you have to recharge them by stopping fire.
  • 2x Powerup rate - Doubles the rate of powerups
Your powerups increase twice as much when you hover over powerup pads or collect powerup orbs.
  • +50 laser coherence - Adds 50 points to your Coherency stat
    Makes your lasers stronger.
  • Max claymore - Max out Claymores
Claymores are slow red mines spawning from your ship from time to time.

You will get to pick 1 to 3 perks at the start of a round in most modes. The most useful perk for this trophy is the '40x multiplier' since it helps raising your score very quickly. If you get a second perk choice, or if you do not have the option to pick the multiplier, choose the '+50 Radioshield' perk to last longer. Third perk choice will depend on the modes or your playstyle but the '7x Starbit value' is a good choice since it gives another score boost.

There are 14 modes in the game but 1 is only available on the Vita (Horse) and another one is a paid DLC (Retro). For this trophy, you will need to get a score of 125,000 points in 10 of these modes.

Here is the list of modes:

• Classic - Unlocked from the start

Main mode of the game. You don't have access to perks at the start of a round but you can buy permanent upgrades with Starbits instead. It's not that hard to reach 125k but you can upgrade your Radioshield and/or Orbital to last longer.

• Peaceful - Unlocked from the start

You have the same upgrades as in Classic. There is no score and overall difficulty is set to minimum. You also have infinite lives so this is the perfect mode to work on miscellaneous trophies.

This mode is not needed for the trophy.

• Arcade - Get 50k points in 1 round to unlock this mode

Arcade is similar to Classic. However, instead of pads inside Solid Planets, powerups appear as orbs while killing enemies.

• Pacifism - Survive a Spike Cascade event to unlock this mode

Durign a Spike Cascade event, the music will change and the screen colours will be inverted. Do not kill enemies during this event or they will spawn invincible and really damaging spikes orbs in every direction.

In this mode, you can't use your lasers and the Spin Attack but you can still use your drill. You must avoid enemies and your score raises the further you go into this mode.

• Marathon - Cover a lot of distance

The description is vague but the quickest way to unlock this mode is to play actively (i.e. don't idle) in Peaceful Mode for around 10-15 minutes.

In this mode, your powerups, ship speed and score increase the further you go.

• Countdown - Kill a boss within 20 seconds

Play in Peaceful Mode since killing bosses is easier on low difficulty.

In this mode, you have 2 minutes to get the highest score possible. You have unlimited lives but your score multiplier resets everytime you die.

• Boss Rush - Kill each boss at least once (Pre-patch)/Kill 4 bosses at least once (patch 1.02)

Play in Peaceful Mode since killing bosses is easier on low difficulty and you have unlimited lives.

In this mode, you will only encounter bosses. This is a good mode to train for the 'King of the Skies' trophy.

• Nightmare - Get to difficulty level 5

Difficulty level raises depending on how well you are doing in a round (killing enemies, picking powerups, etc.). There is no way to tell when you reach a new difficulty level during a round but Pacifism Mode is the easiest mode to unlock this one. Getting around 100-150k should be enough.

Hardest mode of the game. The difficulty level starts at 5 and enemies appear quickly thanks to the increased spawn rate of Cascade events.

• Naked - Max out at least one shop stat

You need to max out one of your stats in Classic Mode shop. The Magnetcoil is the relatively cheapest to upgrade (335,800 Starbits) but since the Radioshield is the most useful stat, you should focus on that one (366,800 Starbits)

In this mode, you start with no perks or upgrades. However, you still have your Spin Attacks.

• Remix - Unlock all modes

Self-explanatory. You need to unlock all the other modes to get this one.

In this mode, the game will randomly pick one of the other modes. Wormholes are frequent and entering one can change the mode you are playing.

• Hell - Survive a hell cascade event

During a Hell Cascade event, the music will change. The screen will also become very dark and be flooded with enemies firing beams.

Just like in Nightmare Mode, the difficulty level starts at 5 and enemies appear quickly thanks to the increased spawn rate of Cascade events.

• Exhibition - Unlock any mode

Self-explanatory. You can get this mode along with the first one you unlock.

In this mode, the game will randomly pick one of the other modes. It changes everytime you die. The highscore for Exhibition is just the time you manage to survive in the mode picked by the game.

This mode is not needed for the trophy.

• Retro - Available from the start only if you bought the 'Retro Mode' DLC.

In this mode, you have 3 lives. You can't drill or spin attack and you shoot your laser with :cross: or :r1:(PS3)/:vitar:(Vita) instead of the :rs:.

This mode is not needed for the trophy.

• Horse - Vita only

Exclusive to the Vita version, this is an asynchronous multiplayer mode. One player sets rules (mode, score or kill or distance, etc.) then sends the challenge to his opponent. If he can't beat it, he gets an 'H'. Otherwise, the challenge creator gets an 'H'. This goes on until one player gets HORSE.

This mode is not needed for the trophy.

Note: You can unlock 'Averagescorer' and 'Highscorer' at the same time if you got 125,000 points or more in every mode needed but one and manage to reach 125,000 points on that last mode.

Classic Mode - Defeat all bosses in one round!

This is the hardest trophy of the game. You should leave this trophy for last so you can get used to enemies, bosses and the game in general. You have to beat all the bosses of the game in the same round of Classic Mode.

The 1.02 patch made this trophy harder by adding 3 additional bosses for a total of 7, all of which have to be killed in 1 Round. The developer wanted to change the requirement so you just need to kill 4 different bosses in one round, however they forgot to change it. Consequently, I highly suggest that you play without the patch for this trophy.

The difficulty in Classic Mode increases with every upgrade you buy for your ship. Also, as mentioned in Lucky number Seven, the difficulty raises depending on how well you play.

You can still play however you want but, taking these things into account, the ideal method for this trophy is to play with few upgrades, avoid killing enemies and ignore powerups pads as much as you can.

Picking one Orbital and a few Radioshield upgrades is although recommended. Otherwise, you will not be able to last long enough. Since upgrades are permanent, you can delete your save after backing it up on a USB device or the Cloud storage just to start from scratch and buy only the few recommended upgrades.

Lastly, luck will play a huge part because you can have a round where you meet the same boss 2, 3 or even more times in a row.

You will find information about the bosses below.

Core Boss:

Looks like a rotating orange planet. You need to drill to get through the external ring and reach its weak point, an orange core protected by solid rotating shields. There can be one or several openings in the shields and that's where you need to shoot to damage the core and thus the boss. There are also some small turrets on the inner ring firing small lasers and two bigger cannons on opposite sides of the ring. When you hear a loud charging sound, these big cannons will create a huge yellow laser connecting them. Avoid it at all cost or it will destroy your ship quickly.

Keep firing at the core while avoid turrets and the big laser until you defeat the boss. After that, in most modes, a 'Multi' powerup pad will spawn where the core was. Don't forget to get your drill ready to exit through the ring.

Note: depending on difficulty, there can be more turrets on the inner ring and an orange shield with some openings around the external ring.

http://i.imgur.com/UCj7Yet.jpg

Turret Boss:

Looks like a rocky wall with 6 huge cannons facing you. The cannons have several attack patterns. They can fire screen-wide lasers or spawn small enemies. Once you destroy a cannon, the boss will add another attack to its arsenal. It will move off-screen to the right then ram all the way to the left. You will need to either move off-screen to the left or get your drill up and get in a space without a cannon. Even with your drill up, you will get destroyed if you touch the cannons with your ship. Don't go behind the boss. You will get killed even with your drill up.

You need to destroy all the cannons to kill the boss. Watch out for the purple shielded enemies (Shielders) and the blue freezing enemies (Freezers) spawn by the cannons. The Shielders will slow you down by protecting the cannons with their shields and the Freezers can get you Frozen. Get out of this state quickly (by firing your lasers) or you won't be able to get your drill ready when the boss rams to the left. Get your drill up when the boss is dead since it will slowly move toward the left while the rocky part is disappearing.

http://i.imgur.com/nA9bvd1.jpg

Bullet Boss:

Looks like a pile of junk with an 'eye' in its center. Recognisable by the junkyard-like background, this boss has a simple but effective attack pattern. It will shoot tons of small lasers from its eye with various patterns. Once there is a break between the patterns, check where the eye is facing and get out of the way. The boss will fire a huge laser in this direction. Some small red enemies will also spawn from the top or the bottom of the screen from time to time.

Keep firing at the eye while avoid lasers and enemies to get rid of this boss.

http://i.imgur.com/nTqCHTS.jpg

Firewall Boss:

Looks like a glowing purple ball surrounded by a purple rotating shield with an opening in it. You need to fire at the core to kill this boss. Depending on the difficulty and your luck, the boss can defend itself in various ways.

It can disappear while leaving a shieldless ball behind then teleport to another place. The boss will then fire a straight blue laser linking it to the ball left behind. Don't get caught by the laser or you'll get destroyed quickly. The shieldless balls take space. Feel free to destroy them with your lasers if it gets too crowded.

For the other pattern, the boss will get into the center of the screen and fire lasers in two opposite direction in a clockwise motion.

http://i.imgur.com/I30MCFU.jpg

Giant Crab (added with the 1.02 patch)

This boss look like a giant crab without pincers sitting on scaffolding. It has several phases. During the main phase, the boss will fire a ton of lasers from its head and the tip of its knees. When they're glowing, the legs will destroy your ship if you touch them. You need to shoot its head until it doesn't glow anymore.

After a bit, the boss will stop shooting, its legs will stop glowing and an orange spot will be revealed on the boss rear. Get behind this spot by going through the now safe legs and shoot it. Once the spot is protected again, get out.

The legs will start glowing again and the boss will fire a ton of lasers from the rear spot for a bit in combination with the knees lasers. Soon after that, the boss head will start glowing and shooting lasers again.

Arrow enemies will randomly spawn during the whole fight but this is the boss attack cycle. It will repeat all those steps until you kill it (it should be the third time you fire at its rear spot).

http://i.imgur.com/BFzlXlH.jpg

Scrapyard (added with the 1.02 patch)

Looks like a small green ball surrounded by normal and green rocks. Recognisable by the solid top and bottom of the screen and random floating rocks with green orbs on them.

The boss doesn't do much by itself. The main obstacles will be the random laser turrets spawning on the top or the bottom of the screen, the random spawning rocks and the random Arrow enemies. Keep an eye out and get your drill ready for the rocks.

You need to destroy the green ball to kill the boss. You can destroy the green rocks spinning around the core to create more openings. Get your drill up when the boss is dead since the rocks will still be there.

http://i.imgur.com/nnDOqyZ.jpg

Meteor Boss (added with the 1.02 patch)

Looks like a big ship with 3 purple blocks. This fight has 2 main phases. During the first one, the boss will spawn random small enemies. Just fire at the purple blocks and the enemies until the boss retreats off-screen to the right. Then, you will have to get through several columns of obstacles. Each column will have a rock and the rest will be purple invincible stuff. You can only get through a column by drilling the rock. The columns are pretty close to each other and due to the random place the rock can have in them, you will have to juggle with the drill since your ship moves slower when the drill is active. After that, the boss will show up again and depending on luck you may have to repeat this phase a lot of times.

After taking enough damage, the second phase will start. The boss will drop the purple blocks and they will be replaced by 3 turrets. They fire lasers while moving up and down. The boss will keep spawning enemies from time to time but that's pretty much it. You just need to shoot anywhere on the boss while avoiding lasers and enemies until it dies.

2 Points :):

1: You've not added the Supplement link to the Tolkienesque trophy.

2: Does this mean that there are actually no glitched trophies and all that stuff a few years ago was just a load of hot air over nothing ?

1. Woops. Thanks for the heads-up. :o

2. The devs did wanted to make the 'King of the skies' trophy easier with patch 1.02 by adding new bosses and change requirements to 'Defeat 4 different bosses in one round!' but they forgot to patch it.

Since it is not mentioned in the patch notes and the trophy descrption hasn't changed, it is not technically glitched. You still need to kill all bosses (7 in this case) in one round to unlock the trophy.

I can edit the guide to reflect that if you want. :o
