Introduction

Beat Sketcher is a game that uses the Move controller like a paint brush and has you do different types of games with it. It includes single player and multiplayer and lets you do things like paint a picture from scratch, color in different pictures, play mini games, color in pictures while staying within the lines and following the rhythm. It is a unique game and can be enjoyed in multiple ways.

Road Map

Step One: Create Mode

In this mode you will be going for Artist and Expert. These are two very easy trophies to get, though the first one takes some time just because of the loading screens. You can't enter and exit the mode very fast because you must use the Move controller.

Step Two: Match Mode

In this mode you will be going for Challenger, Paint Master, Line Master and Rainbow Master. The first two are very easy to get while the second two take a little bit of time and practice. I have outlined in the trophy guide the best way to get each one.

Step Three: Challenge Mode

In this mode you will be going for Conductor, Painter, Professional, Champion and Legend. None of these are particularly easy but I have outlined in the trophy guide some tips and advice to get each one. This will be where you spend the majority of your time and where a lot of frustration will come from, unfortunately.

Step Four: Beat Sketcher

This is one that will eventually pop after you have put some time into this game. However you want to go about going for it is up to you. You can either sit in front of your TV while you are watching a movie and move your paint brush back and forth, or just let it come naturally as you continue to play the game.

Trophy Guide

Reach 10,000m in cursor movement distance.

10,000m is a lot, I mean a whole lot. This should be the last trophy that you go for and will probably be the most boring and time consuming if you are actually focusing on the trophy. I would recommend putting on a movie, changing the input of your TV and in Create Mode, just move the Move controller back and forth and paint all over the screen while you are watching the movie. If your Playstation Eye's red light turns on then it has lost track of your Move controller, so you should check on it.

It is going to take a long time to get and there is no way to know how far along you are. The only thing that tells you how far you have gone is the single line mode in match mode and that is between 2-4 meters a shot. If you like playing this game then let it come over time.

Save 30 still images to the gallery.

This should automatically come as you are playing through Challenge levels. Upon completing any challenge it saves the image to the gallery. I was going for Platinum Medals when this came up. If you are curious as to how many images you have you can always check the gallery.

Save 10 movies to the HDD.

The hardest thing about this trophy is remembering to turn recording on before doing a challenge. While playing through Challenge Mode, right before you start in the bottom left there are two video cameras labeled "on" and "off." Make sure the "on" is highlighted in red and clear the stage. Once you clear the stage it will ask you if you want to save this video - at this point choose yes. After you have done this 10 times the trophy will pop and you no longer have to turn recording on.

Play Create Mode 50 times.

Create Mode has two main modes which are Free Paint and Illustrate. You just need to play 50 times between the two of these and the trophy will pop. The thing that makes this the most frustrating is exiting and entering the mode takes a bit of loading time as well as moving the Move controller to select enter/exit. This doesn't require any skill but it unfortunately is time consuming. However, if you like playing this game outside of the trophies you can just wait for this to pop over time (which I am doubting hah).

Use all tools in Create Mode.

The tools in Create Mode are listed below. Use each of them once and the trophy will pop upon using the last one.

Paint Tool - Pen, Paintbrush, Spray Paint, Crayon, Paint Bucket

Shape Tool - Circle Outline, Filled in Circle, Square Outline, Filled in Square, Line

Light Pen - Red, Cyan, Green, Magenta, Blue, Yellow

Other Tools - Eraser, Color Mixer

Reach 100% Rhythm Bonus in Challenge Mode.

I found myself getting this quite often while I was going for the Platinum Medals for each challenge. You need to time the start and finish of your stroke with the music. If you can keep it in the red circle as you start and finish your stroke it shouldn't be hard to get. This is not something you need to worry about unless you somehow get a Platinum Medal on all 24 challenges without getting this.

Reach 100% Line Bonus in Challenge Mode.

This is very difficult to obtain and unfortunately there is no way to cut any corners. I tried multiple ways of painting in the whole line and picture but the only way to get to 100% is to do it properly. You will have to make the exact same stroke that is shown to you and fill in the white line with color. If you take a corner too sharp or early then you are going to have white showing and this will count against you. The Clover has the least strokes but I found the Snowman relatively easy except for the nose. Whichever you feel most comfortable doing, then that is the one you should go for this on. It is just going to take repetition and getting that stroke just right.

Something to take note of is that when you shift around while you are sitting it seems to really affect your stroke. It did for me at least anyway. I would try to relax or lean back and that would throw off my stroke so this is something to keep in mind. Once you clear a level and it shows your Line Bonus of 100% the trophy is yours.

Open the Mirror Stages.

Upon completing the 12 pictures in Challenge Mode this mode will be unlocked. Just as you might think, it unlocks the same 12 images reversed.

Clear all stages with a Platinum Medal.

See Legend

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/786/10.jpgLegend(S)

Clear all stages including Mirror Stages with a Platinum Medal.

This and Champion are the two trophies that I think will give people the most trouble. There are two things that you must follow or you are not going to be able to get Platinum Medals in them:

1 - Good is not good enough. You will get a rating bad->good->great->excellent->cool on each of your brushstrokes. This rating is based on your ability to stay in the line and stay with the rhythm. If you get "good" in the middle of your picture you should restart. The reason is that you build a combo if you get "great" or above. You need to keep this high combo going throughout the drawing of the whole picture to have a high enough score at the end for a Platinum Medal.

2 - Take a break if you get frustrated. Once you are frustrated then this becomes very difficult. It is easy to lose track of the tempo and to color outside of the lines. If you find yourself getting a "good" rating in parts you were easily getting "excellent" before you should either change the picture or do something else for a while.

With those two rules in mind, for the most part getting these medals is just repetition. A good idea is to watch the speed of the stroke before you do it because it is easy to get caught off guard and end up missing it, resulting in a restart. Mirror Mode is the same 12 images, they are just reversed. I didn't find them any more difficulty than the original pictures. There are some images that are much easier than others, but with practice you should be able to get through all of these. If you lose your combo within the last few strokes you should finish it out and you might still be able to pull through with a platinum.

Play Match Mode 100 times.

There is Single Player and Multi Player available in this game. You just have to play 100 times between any of the games listed below. This trophy unlocked as I was playing through the Rainbow Challenge since I had still not unlocked the trophy. The Multi Player games contribute only to this trophy, however I had a good time playing them with my girlfriend and when some friends came over. If you have the three master trophies and this hasn't popped yet, just do Line Challenge and crash into a wall right away - do this till the trophy pops. The modes are as follows:

Single Player - Paint Master, Line Challenge, Rainbow Challenge (related to their specific trophies)

Multi Player - Paint Battle, Line Battle, Theme Battle, Draw-Up Battle, Brushstroke, 4-Frame Relay

Playing any of these modes counts towards your 100. Upon playing your 100th match the trophy will pop.

Score 70% or higher in the "Fill-in Challenge".

This challenge is very easy and I got it on my first try. The goal is to fill in the screen as much as you can within the time limit. Your best bet is to go as fast as you can horizontally from top to bottom then vertically from left to right. My girlfriend tried it and got 80% so it really isn't one to worry about.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/786/13.jpgLine Master(B)

Score 3.5 or higher in the "Line Challenge".

This presented a problem for me at first because I wasn't even getting past 2.0m when I first gave it a go. Then as I tried more, I was trying to find the best way to fit 3.5m or more of line onto my screen. The way I was able to get it was to start in the upper left going horizontally and work your way down little by little. When you go down and back the other way you need to do it as close as possible. It takes about 10-15 passes to get past 3.5 meters. It just takes a little practice and you should be able to get it after some practice. The only hard thing is not hitting your own line.

http://www.ps3trophies.org/images/trophies/786/14.jpgRainbow Master(B)

Clear Stage 10 in the "Rainbow Challenge".

This is a connect-the-dots type game and you go through 7 different colors before you clear the stage. The screen is filled with triangles, squares, and circles. The first shape will light up red and you need to click on it and draw a line to the next which is orange and eventually finish at lavender. You only have 30 seconds to do this and as the levels move on more shapes are on the board, making it a tighter fit for you to get around them to the next one. The biggest tip I can give you is on the later stages if you have to travel close to where you have already been, then follow your previous trail. Reason being is that you can go faster because you know that it is a clear path. I had some trouble and was getting stuck at level 7 and 8 but was eventually able to clear it. Luck does play a part in this because sometimes the next shape will be across the screen and sometimes all 7 are pretty close to each other. If you make a mistake you have to start over from stage one which is where the frustration comes in. Once you complete level 10 the trophy will pop.

I realise this is a work in progress but you should ask a moderator if they could change the title to Beat Sketcher since thats the title of the game. Other than that i think it looks Ok for now.

I guess that is the English name (>_<) I will try to get it changed.

I am sure there will be other things that need to get changed once this comes out in English as well. Most of it I think was a good translation but things could be different.

would you compare this at all to the paint mini game in start the party? my roommates love that so I'm wondering if this would be a good investment...

I have never played start the party but the multi player games in here are pretty fun. It should also be relatively inexpensive when it comes out in English.

I may be really late on this and I don't know if people care but I have some significant info. on the gold trophy.

There actually is a way to check how far you've gone.

When you sign in (click on your avatar image), from the main menu you can click on your avatar image on the left side of the screen and the 2nd option is to view your data. In the next screen there is a "details" button you can click and that shows you how far you have traveled.

The Japanese version does not have trophies or is its trophy list merged with the American version?

Also, the percentages of trophies seem very low. Is this game too hard?

There is only 1 list for this game, regardless of where you buy it from. This is a fairly obscure game so most people have likely never heard of it, which is why the attainment rates are so low.
