Welcome to the Battlefield: Bad Company boosting guide. This game is one of, if not the hardest FPS platinum to tackle due to the insane online requirements. It's also one of the hardest multiplayer games to boost, so yeah, you're in for one hell of a time with it.

**ANNOUNCEMENT**

********************

I'm very happy to announce that the (B) Catch the Bad Moment trophy is once again obtainable! We have no idea yet what exactly has happened, but the photo upload function works again, numerous members and myself on 2 accounts have tested it and it uploads pictures perfectly fine and unlocks the trophy, as of April 1, 2015 (yeah talk about irony...). So people that have been putting it off because of the unobtainable trophy, get boostin', it's up again!

********************

For a brief introduction about what you're looking at:

  • Few miscellaneous, simpler online trophies, a longer one being awarded for reaching Rank 25, which you will get early while working on your awards and kills. These shouldn't take you more than 15-20 hours.
  • 120 awards for the (B)I am Bad Company! trophy, consisting of 42 ingame trophies, 48 patches and 30 wildcards. This is the hardest part and it'll take you at least 60-70, but rather 100+ hours to get them all.
  • 10,002 kills online for the (S)Beans Bullets Bandages trophy. This will be likely your last trophy and it's the longest one. Assuming you're okay at shooters, with an average of 10-15 kills per match and an average round time of 10-12 minutes, you should be looking at 150-200 hours of online gaming for this trophy.

Few abbreviations that will be regularly used later on:

IAR: In a round

CQ: Conquest

GR: Gold Rush

With that being clear, let's get started.

Preparation

This guide is written with the assumption that you're going to boost all of the difficult awards in the game. So before anything, you should know how many boosting partners you will need for them.

  • At least 5, but rather 9 partners for the Strike wildcard (5 kills in 2 seconds). Further explanation later in the guide.
  • 4 partners for the Full Deck wildcard (52 kills IAR). More details in the guide.
  • 2 partners for the Savior/Avenger kill related awards and the Squad Wildcard.
  • 1 partner for everything else.

Now for how exactly boosting works: very, very, extremely complicated.

This game has no matchmaking or host settings of any kind. There are 2 modes: Gold Rush and Conquest, each with 8 maps. You can set your mode and map, and search for a game. That's as far as matching up goes. You cannot host, you cannot kick players, you cannot switch teams.

The only way to boost in this game is setting up squads of up to 4 players and trying to match up with another squad of 4 players in the same server. This is already troublesome, but that's just the beginning.

Empty servers are 99% impossible to create in this game at this date. It was possible in 2008/2009 when there were multiple lobbies with a lot of people so randoms coming online would always get put in those, then when those servers filled to 12v12 you'd search for a server and it'd create a new one, since you can't join the servers when they're full. But this simply doesn't happen today, from 2014 onwards. There are only 2 MP modes and both modes only have 1, max 2 lobbies going at a time. So even if you somehow manage to get an empty server, randoms fill it in minutes because there's no other lobbies for them to join in.

To make things worse, today the community online consists of: 1. pros who have been playing the game for years, 2. teamkilling noobs who rage & get pissed off by the previously mentioned pros, and 3. noobs who quit after few rounds anyway.

With all this being said, the awards are still completely possible to do, but very hard even if you're boosting.

The ideal time to boost is from GMT 1AM until about 8-9AM, at this time the game is a little less active, giving you a chance to find smaller lobbies (in the range of 3v3 to 6v6), and have an actual chance to travel to hidden areas on maps and boost with your partners. I don't recommend boosting at any other time than this, you'll usually be put in 12v12 lobbies full of experts and you'll just waste time. Rather work on your 10,002 kills legitemately at those more active times.

With everything set, you can start working on your online awards. Do not worry about the rest of the online trophies, you'll get all of them while going for the awards and later your 10,002 kills.

Awards

A very important basic notice: When certain awards have a cumulative and an IAR requirement, do not bother working on the IAR one before you have the cumulative. It won't register as done before you have the cumulative. For example, killing 5 helicopter IAR before having killed 25 cumulatively for the Chopper Chopper wildcard will not work.

Think of the IAR requirement as the popping action for an award: there's a cumulative requirement which is the award's main part, then you have to perform the IAR requirement to actually unlock the award. This is how they work.

I'm not going to list every award here as a good bit of them can be gotten by normal/legit MP playing while working on your 10,002 kills online. These include kills with certain weapons, kills with all the classes/vehicles and so on. Do not concentrate on these much as they're done naturally in your online career.

I will however give boosting tips and strategies for each and every difficult award. Some are simply impossible to do in legit matches (say hi to Strike and Savior wildcards) and require 100% boosting.

Here's the list of hard awards I'm going to describe. The ones I've bolded are the ones I consider impossible or nearly impossible by legit playing. Make them your #1 priority.

Wildcards:

  • 1 on 1 Sea
  • Beat the House
  • Cab Driver
  • Chopper Chopper
  • Deuces are Wild
  • Five of a Kind (also unlocks the "Three of a Kind" wildcard.)
  • Full Deck
  • Full House
  • Headshots
  • Fly-by
  • Santa's Little Helper
  • Savior (you'll unlock the bronze/silver/gold saviour patches along the way to this wildcard.)
  • Snake Eyes
  • Squad Avenger (you'll unlock the "Avenger" wildcard on the way, and you'll also more than likely unlock the bronze/silver/gold Avenger patches.)
  • Squad Wildcard
  • Staying Dry
  • Straight Flush
  • Strike
  • Tank Buster (you'll also get the "Armor Buster" wildcard by doing this one.)
  • Top Squad

Patches:

  • Bronze/Silver/Gold Combat Aviator Patch (you'll get the "1 on 1 Air" wildcard by doing these patches as well.)
  • Bronze/Silver/Gold Tank Warfare Patch (you'll get the "1 on 1 Land" wildcard by doing these patches as well.)

Trophies:

  • Clear Skies

Rather self-explanatory but still worth a mention: when you're working on awards that have long IAR requirements (almost all of the hard awards), and the attacker team is running low on reinforcement, you/a booster on the defender team should suicide, spawn as specialist so you have C4, and use it on your own team's gold bars. You'll destroy your two golds and extend the map, giving the attacker team additional reinforcements, hence more time/kills to boost. Expect heavy hate messages from randoms, but who cares, we are in for awards ;)

Difficult awards - on foot

These awards can be done without using/killing vehicles. Keep in mind, this doesn't refer to legit play. Some of these awards are better done in vehicles if you're playing legit (52 kills IAR for example), but this guide was written with the intention of boosting all the hard awards.

Beat the House (15 grenade kills IAR)

Headshots (20 headshots IAR)

Deuces are Wild (Kill 2 enemies of each class IAR)

Snake Eyes (Get 11 kills as two different classes IAR)

These can be combined with one or two of the other. These awards can be boosted with just 1 partner. My most recommended maps would be Valley Run, Deconstruction and Oasis, on GR. Rounds on these maps last decently long enough while they have good spots to hide. End of the Line is another map with long rounds but it's a very open map, with hardly any good spots to hide.

The strategy: the player going for the awards has to be on the defender team. Make your way behind the attacker base (hardest part). Find a very hidden spot where randoms do not often look and hide. Now have your partner keep coming to this spot and keep killing him. Since he's an attacker, he will be spawning decently close everytime.

-The dummy partner should change their class after every 2nd kill, this way you can get the Deuces are Wild wildcard by the time you reach 10 kills.

-Suicide after 11 kills, change your class then make your way to the spot again; this is so you can get the Snake Eyes wildcard.

-Do your kills with headshots while going for the above wildcards so you can get the Headshots wildcard at the same time, when you reach 20 kills.

-Use the same strategy for Beat the House but using grenades to kill this time. Pick up your partner's dropped kit for additional grenade ammo when you run out.

Full Deck (52 kills IAR)

The dreaded Full Deck wildcard. One of the hardest ones. You'll want to have a squad of 4 players joining a match, and yourself on the opposing team. Recommended maps would be Valley Run or Oasis, on GR.

The strategy: The dummies should be on the defending team here. One of them makes their way behind the attack base, find a well hidden spot and this person will act as the spawn point for the other 3 squad members. Make your way to this point and keep killing the continually spawning 3 players.

This should give you 3 kills every 10 seconds, roughly 5 mins to reach 52 kills from the point you start killing, if everything goes smooth (that rarely happens though).

Santa's Little Helper (10 kill assists IAR)

Pretty easy to boost with 1 partner with a neat trick I found. Normally, an assist is when you damage an enemy by 30HP or more, then a teammate kills that enemy. But, if you do the 30+HP damage then the enemy suicides, it also counts as an assist!

So simply follow the method described for the 20 headshots/15 grenade kills IAR but instead of killing, do a few shots then have your partner suicide 10 times, to get this award.

Savior (50 savior trophies)

Squad Avenger (100 avenger kills avenging squad members)

Avenger (50 avenger trophies -> GLITCHED, you only need 50 avenger kills, not 50 avenger trophies! Automatic by Squad Avenger)

Boost saviors first, these are much harder to obtain in legit matches. Savior trophies are for 3 savior kills, this means you will need 3x50=150 total savior kills. Savior kills are achieved by killing any enemy who damaged your teammate by more than 30HP just before you kill them.

Now for the strategy. These can be boosted with 2 partners. Squad up with 1 of them and have the other be on the opposing team. You and your squadmate should be on the defender team and make your way behind the attacker base, then find a good hiding spot. Have your attacker dummy keep coming to your hiding spot, have him do 2-3 shots on your squad mate and then shoot him with a shotgun/sniper rifle/whatever weapon that kills him quickly. It has been suggested by Jordan515 that some people were only getting the full savior bonus points if they used shotguns for the kills, and needed 6 kills for 1 trophy with any other weapon. Shotguns are the best for boosting saviors anyway, so stick to using them.

When you're boosting squad avenger kills, your squadmate will also have to respawn after every kill, as he has to be killed by your dummy opponent before you kill him. But this shouldn't be a problem as he can just squad spawn on you.

Squad Wildcard (10 kills per squad member + 5 squad assist per squad member IAR)

Both of the requirements have to be done in one match, ie. you can't do the 10 kills per member in one match then 5 assist per member in another match. It all has to be in one.

This one can be annoying with just 1 squad mate and 1 opposing booster. Randoms can join the match and become part of your squad, in which case they also need to get 10 kills and 5 squad assists...

But doing this with a maxed squad of 4 mates is also not a good idea because then all 4 of you will need to get 10 kills + 5 assists, 40 kills and 20 assists in total... Needless to say, this is complicated even if you boost.

So the best way to go for it is still with just 1 squad mate vs opposing booster, and hoping your luck stays with you for 1 match and no randoms join your squad.

The strategy itself is the same as for saviors or avengers, but no action needed by the opposing dummy this time. Just have him keep coming to your hiding spot and you + your squadmate both get 10 kills. Also make sure you both get 5 assist from some of your mate's 10 kills.

Strike (5 kills in 2 seconds)

The other extremely dreaded wildcard, and the one which virtually never happens legitemately anymore.

You'll need to have 5 boosters on the opposing team and have them all bunched up, set 1 or 2 C4's in the middle of them and kill them.

The hard part in this is matching it up so you are against the 5 dummies. You can do this just yourself and 5 partners, but you'll need a lot of luck for them to be paired all on the same team. It is easier if you have 4 other partners on your team too so you can definitely get the other 5 on the other team (the game always tries to balance teams when new players join)

Once you have 5 opposing boosters, make your way behind the attacker base, have them all lined up in a hidden spot and boom, blow them up with a well placed C4.

Top Squad (be in the best squad on all maps, then get 10 squad bonus points IAR)

This isn't actually a difficult award but I wanted to talk about it. It's glitched. The best squad on all maps bar is incorrect, it was full ever since I got a single best squad on a map.

Also, the 10 squad bonus points is absolutely not clear what it refers to. I've gotten 10 saviors in a round, 10 avengers in a round, 10 squad assists, 10 repairs/10 heals, none of them would unlock this award.

Honestly the only thing I can say for this one is to not care about it, as I've gotten it totally randomly. It popped for me when all I did was a single kill assist in a match (after being best squad on all maps of course). It popped on my dummy PS3 also randomly. Just ignore this one and it'll come sometime, it's glitched.

Clear Skies Trophy (5 air defense kills IAR)

This one is not too tough but it is if you try to do it by actually killing 5 helicopters. The good news is that it can be done on any opponents, not just airborne vehicles. You can boost it simply by having a dummy partner come to your air defense emplacement on foot and kill them 5 times.

Oasis Gold Rush has a good air defense on the 2nd gold base, once the map has moved to the 3rd/4th base you can easily boost 5 kills with the air defense weapon on the 2nd base. Just be on the defender side, make your way past the attacker base back to the 2nd base, and have your dummy partner keep coming back there.

Difficult awards - in vehicles

These include hard feats that must be done by using/killing helicopters/tanks/boats.

1 on 1 Sea (Destroy a sea vehicle of the same kind)

These 1 on 1 wildcards do not actually have to be done on the exact same type of vehicles, if they're just the same kind (boat vs boat, heli vs heli), the awards will pop.

My recommended map for 1 on 1 Sea is End of the Line, either CQ or GR. There are a lot of boats here and they respawn pretty quickly, you'll have a lot of chance to boost it here.

Just drive to either behind the US island or the middle island, switch to the gunner seat and kill your partner's boat.

Cab Driver (5 minutes as driver in a vehicle with passengers IAR)

Easy to boost with 1 partner. Squad up with your partner and join any match, CQ or GR, doesn't matter. Find a vehicle (preferably a small jeep, you rather want it to be less noticeable), have your partner get in the gunner seat. Move to a hidden corner of the map and just keep driving in circles. Simple to boost.

Chopper Chopper (kill 25 heli's cumulatively, then 5 heli's IAR)

First and most importantly: The RU (MEC) helicopter is GLITCHED. It's glitched to the point where it won't even count as heli kills that you do with them. You can't get kills either with it or on it. Just think of it as non-existent, you can't use it for any awards.

This means your only chance to get the helicopter related awards are with/on the US choppers, or the unique chopper that spawns in the 2nd base of Oasis Gold Rush (not recommended)

I recommend doing this on End of the Line, CQ or GR. Make your way to the small island behind the US base, have a tool ready that you can easily use to take heli's down (a mortar strike instant kills it and you have infinite ammo with it), and get your partner to keep bringing heli's to the island for you to kill.

Five of a Kind (Destroy 5 vehicles of the same kind IAR)

Also unlocks Three of a kind.

Easiest done on a boat or a jeep as these have relatively low HP. I recommend using the same method as for 1 on 1 Sea, but doing 5 of it in the same round. It should be simple to boost on End of the Line, hide with your boat behind the middle island or the US island and just have your dummy keep bringing boats.

Full House (Destroy 3+2 vehicles of the same kind IAR)

Another award that is glitched in a good way. Sea vehicles (boats) count both as transport vehicles and naval vehicles, so they classify as 2 different vehicle classes by just 1 kill! This means that you'll basicly get this award if you kill 3 boats in a round.

Use the strategy provided in 1 on 1 Sea.

Fly-by (4 road kills with any air vehicle IAR)

Stupid award, but it can be boosted with just 1 partner. End of the Line GR/CQ or Crossing Over CQ are my recommended maps. Get in an US chopper (again, RU choppers are glitched for everything), get to a relatively hidden spot (the middle island is not too bad on End of the Line GR), and have your opposing partner come there 4 times.

If you are bad with controlling the heli's, you can just sit in one and have your dummy partner jump on the main propeller of the heli, it'll count as a road kill. Do this 4x IAR for the award.

Staying Dry (50 road kills with naval vehicles)

Has to be the most retarded award of all. Getting boat roadkills is difficult even when you boost. Half of the time you'll just push the opponent sideways instead of killing them...

My recommended maps are Valley Run GR and Oasis GR for this one. The rivers are relatively narrow on these and you can get boats pretty quickly.

Just have your dummy partner stand still swimming in the middle of the river, drive at them with full speed and try to make sure that it's the middle of the boat that hits them. It should register the kill then.

It's been suggested by icameron625 that if your dummy partner is facing away from the boat, it's more consistent to get the kills with it.

Straight Flush (Destroy a vehicle of each kind IAR)

Again, boats being regarded as both naval and transport vehicles help you here. Each kind refers to: helicopters, tanks, transport vehicles and naval vehicles. By killing a heli, a tank and a boat IAR, you'll get this award.

End of the Line is the best map to do this on. You'll get the boat and tank kills easily with your dummy partner, then make your way behind the US base to the small island and wait till your partner can get a heli. Get him to bring it to you then take it down with a mortar strike/RPG or anything sufficient.

Tank Buster (Kill 25 tanks cumulatively, then kill 5 tanks IAR)

Killing 25 tanks should come even by natural legitimate play, but you can also boost it easily on Harvest Day/End of the Line/Oasis. 5 tanks in one round could be difficult though.

Just get behind the attacker base as usually and have your partner keep bringing tanks to your hidden spot. Destroy them using motion mine's/C4/Laser Designator. The last one is the most efficient as it doesn't run out of ammo.

These kills will count the same way to the kills for Armor Buster wildcard. However, keep in mind that only the big tanks (not the rapid firing smaller tanks) count towards the Tank Buster wildcard.

Bronze/Silver/Gold Combat Aviator Patch (7 combat aviator trophies, then destroy 2 helicopters in helicopter combat IAR)

This is one of the most difficult awards in the game, and the fact that RU choppers are completely glitched makes it even worse.

Firstly you'll need 7 combat aviator trophies, which is for getting 5 kills with helicopters IAR. So a total of 7x5=35 kills. This shouldn't be too tough even legit, but you can also boost it pretty easily on End of the Line US base. Get behind the base, have your dummy partner park a heli on the small island behind the base, sit in it, then have him keep coming there and kill him using the US chopper.

Once you have the 7 trophies, it's time to get the IAR requirement. Helicopter combat means heli vs heli, so this patch will automatically get you the 1 on 1 Air wildcard. However, it's tough. Only US vs US choppers will be possible as RU choppers are glitched. 2 bases where choppers spawn will need to be captured by the US team (if you play CQ), then one of the choppers will need to be taken by your dummy opponent and be killed with your own US chopper.

Alternatively you can do it on Oasis Gold Rush, the heli on the 2nd checkpoint is not glitched. But it's hard to get that one because it's a very OP heli and randoms always run for it asap. Plus the fact that it's usually the shortest base alive, doesn't help things.

A neat little thing regarding these tiered patches: You only have to perform the IAR requirement one time, to unlock all 3 of them at once! This means you won't have to do 2 heli vs heli kills x3 times, but just one time, if you've already gotten 7 aviator trophies of course.

Bronze/Silver/Gold Tank Warfare Patch (7 tank warfare trophies, then destroy 2 tanks in tank combat IAR)

The 7 tank warfare trophies shouldn't pose any trouble, you'll need 7x5=35 kills with tanks in total. Once you have this, get yourself a big tank and have your dummy partner keep bringing one to you. Tank combat refers to tank vs tank kills, just like heli combat. This should be easy to boost with just 1 partner. End of the Line Gold Rush will give you the most opporturity and longest rounds to get this one.

The same thing applies here as on the Aviator patches: the tiered patches stack, if you do 2 tank vs tank kills IAR when you already have the 7 tank warfare trophies, you'll unlock all 3 patches at once.

Alright, the guide is done for now. I'm planning on adding some screenshots for the best hide spots on each map but it'll either be in potato quality with my camera or I'll need someone to take them for me, as I don't have a HD PVR

Also I'll do a quick grammar sweep tomorrow as it's the middle of the night here, there's probably quite a few I overlooked xD

Other than that, I think the guide is finished.

Make sure to add under the 'Staying Dry' Wildcard that in order for the roadkills to be an instant kill, the dummies have to be turned away from the boat. Also, don't you need six savior kills in order to obtain one savior trophy, making it 300 kills that are needed instead of 150? Other than that, it's a solid guide for some of the hardest bastard awards of Bad Company.

Nope they patched that years ago, it's 3 savior kills for one savior trophy now. Trust me, I've done all the awards very recently, about a month ago.

The awards guide states 6, wrongly. I honestly think that guide should be closed because it has more incorrect/outdated information than correct information. I was browsing it few times and it was more misleading than helpful.

As for Staying Dry, that's weird... I got all of them facing towards the boat, that's what I used for coordinating how much the centre of the boat is from my dummy PS3... I self boosted, looked at my dummy screen when coming with the boat, so to try and align it to the centre.

Alright then. I was basing all of my information off of that same guide, anyways. :p Then again, that's good that things have been reduced, as I really haven't noticed anything at all. Whenever I helped out someone else way back in February of last year, boat roadkills were more efficient for us if we looked away from the boat. Then again, if you can still get an insta-kill from looking at the boat, then it doesn't matter, really.

Yeah, few awards have been patched since that guide was made, plus even when it was made it had a lot of incorrect information, for example stating that the Avenger wildcard needs 50 avenger trophies but it's 50 avenger kills in fact.

I'll add a note to the Staying Dry wildcard about facing away from the boat. It might not be important but I did find killing with it very random, like every one of 4 attempts failed at least. So maybe it's more consistent by facing away, I haven't tried it.

Great guide mate wish it was here when i was doing it. With the savior awards i think it was three kills when saving a squad member or 6 when it was saving a team member but it shouldn't matter as getting into squads is the best way anyway.

Cheers and yeah, this game has always had so little information regarding the online and how to properly approach the awards lol. It's what kept me from starting to seriously work on it, for years... And now there's not too many people left xD But I thought it'd still be worth it for the few still chasing the (P).

As for saviors, I'm pretty sure it's 3 kills in all cases. Me and my buddy boosted for several hours in the same lobby sometimes and the game switches squads very often, so we weren't always in the same squad. But I never had to do 6 savior kills for one trophy, one always popped after 3.

Thanks bro :)

I might make those hide spot screenshots with camera after all, it's mainly for the information anyway, not for eye candy xD

I'll just put them in spoiler, in the reserved post

Congrats on the guide being stuck. Did not know the servers were still up. Need to clean this one.

Slick guide there Zong! Wish this was around when I was playing it!

EDIT: After taking a good look over it everything still looks great. The intro does a great job explaining a lot of common questions about HOW to go about boosting. Only thing is for the saviors section: You can only get a savior trophy from 3 savior kills when using that one shotgun correct? I'm pretty sure if you get a savior kill with any other gun you only get 5 points which would require 6 kills for 1 trophy.

I've been doing my saviors with sniper/pistol headshots to grind the sniper headshot/handgun kills wildcards at the same time as saviors, and it was always 3 savior kills that I needed still.

But I did hear about some people only getting the trophies for 3 savis if they used the shotguns. Disturbed had that problem for example. So yeah, I'll add a note regarding it. Thanks for the heads up.

Awesome guide Zong.

For the saviours I think its the bonus points that can get it in 3 kills. The few saviours I got without boosting was getting either a headshot bonus or squad save and that was with assault class weapons & when boosting it with the shotgun I go for the headshot too however I'm sure 1 of my legit ones took 4 or 5 kills. I still need 4 saviours so I can test it with just body shots if you want to see if that requires 6 kills.

With the hide spot screen shots are you going to double picture it, 1 of the map with the location marked & 1 of the ingame location?

I still need 4 saviours so I can test it with just body shots if you want to see if that requires 6 kills.

With the hide spot screen shots are you going to double picture it, 1 of the map with the location marked & 1 of the ingame location?

Yeah we can do that :p though it was always 3 kills for me personally, even with body shots lol

And yeah, that's what I'm planning. 1 screenshot of the ideal standing position screen and 1 of the map in the start menu.

Please keep the actual boosting requests to the boosting thread :p This thread should be only used for the discussion of awards and boosting strategies, not boost requests.
