ElTequilla
So basically, is it neccesary to have played AA before this, you know to expirience the story and all that? I already have a lot of released great games I look forward to play, but a lot of them, like this, has a predecessor. so if at any of these titles, it is possible to skip the previous without to much hassle, I would probably do that. What's your thoughts?
TiNnYzEuS
You wouldnt miss alot to be honest but if you wanted the full story i suppose id get the first before, otherwise there is nothing major from 1-2 nothing that would make you struggle or not understand any of the story. kaerion
Tinny448 is absolutely right, but I want to add that Asylum is such a great game by itself that I'd still advise you to pick it up along with City, and play both. I can almost guarantee that you wouldn't regret it!
WeskersHenchman
Yes, Asylum is ridiculously good; I actually slightly prefer Asylum to City, and I feel you'd really be doing yourself a disservice to skip over it.
danc
I played city before asylum and I understood most of it (although a character mentions what happens at the end of asylum) and I went back to asylum fine and I enjoyed it. It would probably be best to play asylum first, but don't hold back if you want to play arkham city first
Grim
Playing Asylum first can only help you with gameplay because when you become the Bat in City, you have most (all ?) of the upgrades you get during Asylum. Â But Asylum is a great game so go and get it !!!!
fletchar2
I played Arkham City first and never struggled to pick up the story or anything like that. There's the odd reference, but nothing that directly links over as such (from what I know of) that requires Asylum to be played first. If you want to play City, go for it. If you've got the money, time and effort to buy and play through both games, go for it
dz06lt
they are barely related, so it wouldnt be a big deal. However AA is far superior imo
BlackAsh
I'd play Arkham Asylum first but you are going to have Arkham overload and just may go insane, take a break between the two.
bigdrama
It is definitely not necessary to play AA first, but I would highly recommend it. I thought AA was a great first entry into this "new" Gotham and having played it prior to AC, found that my understanding of this particular universe was improved. There are also a couple of references that will make more sense, but overall the games are standalone titles with only minor interplay except for the reason behind the main plot (it will still make sense either way, just a little extra background). joker-_-32988
If you want the entire story with joker and batman and their history in the game i would suggest you play it first. personally i preferred aslyum to arkham city.
